The purpose of this study is to describe the phenomenon of halal lifestyles in Indonesia, and to add insight of the Indonesian society about halal lifestyles in order to make it easier for them to choose Islamic lifestyle through halal lifestyle. This research method uses a literature research approach that is sourced from authoritative news and current journals which has high credibility to explain the phenomenon of halal lifestyle in Indonesia accurately. Based on the literature research that has been done it can be concluded that the increase of population and purchasing power of Muslims in the world can strengthen the halal lifestyles trend. The halal lifestyle is seen as a new lifestyle for the Muslim population in the world, especially the Muslim population in Indonesia. Even the concept of halal has been accepted by Muslims and non-Muslims, and gradually begins to become a lifestyle. Because the halal concept was universal which contained elements of benefit for all humans, halal was not only cover the needs of sharia, but is also a sustainability concept through all human activities seen from its lifestyle. The implications of the phenomenon of halal practices in Indonesia today were not only focused on the food sector, but has been spread to other sectors. Like halal tourism in Nusa Tenggara Barat and D.I. Aceh, halal cosmetics are pioneered by Wardah, a Sharia Hospital spearheaded by RSI. Sultan Agung Semarang, halal medicines initiated by herbal companies, halal modes promoted by Muslim hijabers and fashion designers, financial institutions pioneered by Bank Muamalat Indonesia, and so on. The halal lifestyles trend in Indonesia can also be seen from many animos of the media that preach about “halal lifestyles” such as halallifestyle.com, republika.co.id, ekonom.kompas.com, marketeers.com, mysalaam.com, and many seminar events that raised “halal lifestyle” theme.

Based on the importance of the teacher's directions to developing pupils' value systems, value orientation, and professional orientation, the connection between future teachers' value orientation and their entrepreneurial orientation, as an important component of entrepreneurial behaviour, is considered in the paper. The scale of lifestyles and the scale of entrepreneurial orientation are applied. The sample consists of 258 university students from three faculties with departments of education of preschool teachers, class/primary school teachers, and subject teachers. The following results were obtained: the students preferred the working lifestyle, the utilitarian lifestyle, the esthetic lifestyle, and the hedonistic lifestyle (these are the lifestyles oriented toward one's wellbeing) more than the others, and they preferred a lifestyle of orientation toward power and respect less than the others. They assessed their entrepreneurial orientation as moderate. Entrepreneurial orientation as a composite measure and some of its separated components - readiness for risk and competitiveness correlated positively with the level of preferring two lifestyles: the lifestyle of orientation toward power and respect and the lifestyle of Prometheus activism; proactivity correlated with Prometheus activism and altruistic lifestyles, that is, with prosocial lifestyles. The main conclusion is that systematic educational interventions for the development of the entrepreneurial orientation of future teachers are necessary. These interventions should be integrated into future teacher pre-service education both directly as programmes of entrepreneurship education and indirectly as activities enhancing lifestyles and value orientation, which are formative for their professional engagement in the educational process.

AbstractHigh prevalence of noncommunicable diseases with their associated costs are related more and more to unhealthy behaviours such as unappropriated diets, lack of physical activity and smoking. Lifestyle medicine is now more and more scientific and with evidence-based fundament. The key in lifestyle change is negotiation and cooperation. Physicians should do more than education, should empower and motivate the patient in planning a healthy lifestyle leading to sustained change.

One distinguishing factor of individuals is their lifestyles. In the internet, every individual shows a different behavior while some groups have rather similar behaviors. By identifying these groups and their interests and preferences, it becomes possible to offer a product or advertising which is compatible with their wants. This leads to conveying the value presented by the producer to the consumer with high effectiveness. One source of identifying target customers or internet users is their lifestyle in internet space. The present study aims at describing and explaining internet lifestyle (e-lifestyle) of Iranian users. In particular, this study tries to find out the most common e-lifestyle of Iranian users. To this aim, 412 students involved with internet were surveyed. After estimating the construct validity of the study through confirmatory factor analysis, the mean scores of each e-lifestyle were compared by student t-test. The results revealed that Iranian users have mostly entertainment-driven e-lifestyles. The perceived importance-driven, sociability-driven, interest-driven, novelty-driven, need-driven, and uninterested or concern-driven e-lifestyles were respectively identified after that. This is the first study investigating the most common e-lifestyle among Internet users.

People in the 18.5-22.4 BMI range with high scores on the alternate healthy eating index and high levels of physical activity have the lowest risk of early mortality, while those with higher BMIs can still have a lower risk if they also have at least one low risk lifestyle component. To assess the body mass index of high school students in a selected school, lifestyle practice, find the association between selected lifestyle practices with demographic variables in high school students and association between Body Mass Index with demographic variables in high school students. Prior to starting the data gathering process, approval from BEO and the headmistresses of the chosen high schools was obtained. Canara High School and St. Aloysius High School in Mangalore hosted the primary study. The data gathering period ran from October 121, 2017, to January 1, 2018. All participants were told of the study's goal and gave their informed permission. The respondents received guarantees on the privacy and confidentiality of the data they submitted. Data from the samples were gathered by the researcher herself. In order to gather data, questionnaires about baseline data were used, along with a self-made rating scale to evaluate lifestyle behaviours and measures of height and weight to determine BMI. Karl Pearson ‘s correlation coefficient and Chi square test. The majority of samples, or 70%, had normal BMIs. Merely 20% of those surveyed were overweight. The least number of respondents (10%) were underweighted. Eighty-two percent of the respondents followed moderate lifestyles. Good living habits are present in 15% of the samples. The fewest responders (3%) led unhealthy lifestyles. Level of lifestyle habits broken down by area: The average lifestyle practice of students was 60.657.68, indicating that the majority of students follow a moderate lifestyle.A noteworthy correlation was observed between the mother's work and certain baseline factors, such as the body mass index score. Consequently, the null hypothesis was disproved. The score of a few chosen lifestyle activities and a few chosen baseline characteristics, such gender, were significantly correlated. They rejected the null hypothesis.Teenagers are the future citizens of this country, and their future depends on them. It is crucial to regularly assess students' body mass index and lifestyle choices so that those who lead unhealthy lifestyles can be quickly identified and treated appropriately to reduce their chance of developing health issues later on. Nurses will be able to teach parents and pupils about healthy lifestyle practices since they are aware of the relationship. The present study's findings have been taken into consideration for drawing the following conclusions.

This study aimed to describe changes in lifestyle-related behaviors and assess the correlation between the perceived risk of COVID-19, social support, perceived stress, and lifestyle changes among undergraduate students during the pandemic. Design and methods: A total of 547 students from 32 provinces in Indonesia completed online questionnaires comprising four measures: perceived risk of COVID-19, the Lifestyle-related Behavior Questionnaire, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and the Pandemic-related Perceived Stress Scale. Results: Undergraduate students who lived with their families had healthier lifestyles than students who lived alone ( p = 0.007). Furthermore, The Pearson’s correlation showed a significant correlation between lifestyle changes with perceived severity ( r = 0.107; p < 0.05), social support ( r = 0.237; p < 0.001and pandemic-related stress ( r = −0.304, p < 0.001). Higher perceived severity of COVID-19 and social support were associated with a healthier lifestyle, whereas increased stress correlated with a less healthy lifestyle. Conclusion: Psychological factors correlated with lifestyle changes of Indonesian undergraduate students during the pandemic. Therefore, psychological aspects should be more considered by relatives and institutions to ensure healthier lifestyles of students.

The background of this research is the prevalence of unhealthy lifestyles among millennials lifestyles of extravagance wasting money flaunting wealth. Even though there are lifestyles that have a myriad of benefits when applied, they are none other than following a minimalist lifestyle. But sadly, minimalist life is not something that is coveted among millennials. In fact, in Surah Al-Furqan: 67 it is explained that we should not waste wealth excessively and should not be stingy with the assets we have. The formulation of the problem and the purpose of this study is to find out how contemporary classical scholars interpret Surah Al-Furqan: 67 and what is the essence of the minimalistic lifestyle according to millennials in Medan. The method used is phenomenology and interview qualitative method. The results of this study show the view of contemporary classical scholars that actually a minimalist lifestyle is that we can have and use it, but it is forbidden to overdo it. The nature of qanaah and zuhud really needs to be applied in living a lifestyle. Meanwhile, the application of a minimalist lifestyle in millennial society is still limited, because at the same time there are still many millennials who are competing to implement a hedonic lifestyle, but not a few are also starting to adopt a minimalist lifestyle by not following their passions to exaggerate in living life.

Consumer lifestyle is considered one of the important predictors of sustainable consumption behavior at the individual, community and societal levels. In this paper, the healthy lifestyle of consumers is analyzed and defined as the lifestyle that explains how people live in terms of health. This study focuses on consumers’ healthy lifestyle clusters and offers an updated healthy lifestyle measurement tool that can be used to segment consumers into specific segments according to six healthy lifestyle domains: physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual health. An online survey with 645 respondents of different socio-demographic profiles was conducted in Lithuania. Based on data collected through questionnaires, specific segments were identified using self-organizing maps and cluster analysis methods. The findings suggest that four different segments could represent consumers concerning their healthy lifestyles. The results will be of use to companies initiating marketing campaigns to target different consumer groups with their brands and offering healthy lifestyle-related products and services to consumers in Lithuania. The findings are also valuable for public policymakers and opinion leaders who foster healthy lifestyles and seek to form a public opinion regarding sustainable consumption.

Family lifestyle is an important part of social lifestyle an important component of society's way of life, throughout history, social change has always been linked to lifestyles, and changes in family lifestyles have reflected socio-economic development. Economic progression changed notions toward marriage in the recent years, and this has resulted in less fertility rate, and more children not living with both parents. Decline in marriage or split by parents can be treated as a shrinkage in family that can impose negative effect on overall level of education attainment and financial pressures.

BackgroundHealthy lifestyles prevent cardiovascular disease and are increasingly recognized in relation to mental health but longitudinal studies are limited. We examined bi-directional associations between mood disorders and healthy lifestyles in a cohort followed for 5 years.MethodParticipants were aged 26–36 years at baseline (2004–2006) and 31–41 years at follow-up (2009–2011). At follow-up, lifetime mood disorders (depression or dysthymia) were retrospectively diagnosed with the Composite International Diagnostic Interview. A five-item lifestyle score (comprising body mass index, non-smoking, alcohol consumption, leisure time physical activity and healthy diet) was measured at both time points. Linear and log multinomial regression determined if mood disorder before baseline predicted changes in lifestyle (n= 1041). Log binomial regression estimated whether lifestyle at baseline predicted new episodes of mood disorder (n= 1233). Covariates included age, sex, socio-economic position, parental and marital status, social support, major life events, cardiovascular disease history, and self-rated physical and mental health.ResultsA history of mood disorder before baseline predicted unfavourable trajectories of lifestyle over follow-up, including somewhat lower risk of improvement [relative risk (RR) 0.76, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.56–1.03] and greater risk of worsening (RR 1.46, 95% CI 0.99–2.15) of lifestyle independent of confounding factors. Higher lifestyle scores at baseline were associated with a 22% (RR 0.76, 95% CI 0.61–0.95) reduced risk of first episodes of mood disorder, independent of confounding factors.ConclusionsHealthy lifestyles and mood disorders are closely related. Our results suggest that healthy lifestyles may not only reduce cardiovascular disease but also promote mental health.

Developments in technology and culture affect a person's attitude and lifestyle. Lifestyle describes the "whole person" who interacts with his environment. One of the trendy lifestyles in demand by various people, including students, is the modern lifestyle. Modern lifestyles influence consumers' consumption decisions because good images will arise if we can follow this lifestyle. Especially in social problems, where to hang out, and style in appearance. So, a person's lifestyle is related to his association and social norms that are carried out in the surrounding environment. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the influence of lifestyle on student association and social norms. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational study. Respondents in this study were male students at a state university in Banten, Indonesia, which consisted of the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Teaching and Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Business Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, totaling 115 people. Data collection uses a VALS scale questionnaire (adaptation). The results of this study indicate that there is an influence of lifestyle on association and social norms. A simple lifestyle following the circumstances of the respondents influences associations that do not require a "brand image" or require branded goods in their association. As well as influences social norms as well. If lifestyle changes, then the behavior shown will also affect the social norms that it does.

One of the biggest health hazards is a sedentary or inactive lifestyle. Sedentary behaviour entails spending too much time sitting or lying down without activity. Vital practices for good health are physical activity and regular exercise. However, many people do not exercise regularly. “All causes of death raised by Sedentary lifestyles, the risk of CVD, diabetes mellitus, and obesity doubled due to sedentary lifestyle and chances of colon cancer increase, development of high blood pressure, progression of osteoporosis, occurrence of lipid disorders, depression, and anxiety are also caused due to sedentary lifestyle. Sedentary behaviour is becoming a major public health concern according to the WHO. Despite being connected to a variety of chronic health disorders; sedentary lifestyles appear to be becoming more prevalent in many countries. The health concerns connected with a sedentary lifestyle are being confirmed by recent study.

Do health behaviors cluster together as health lifestyles in adolescence? Are these lifestyles socially patterned? Do these lifestyles impact physical health into adulthood? To answer these questions, we employed data from Waves 1 and 4 of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health ( n = 7,827). Our latent class analysis revealed four health lifestyles: (a) low risk, (b) moderate risk with substance use, (c) moderate risk with inactivity, and (d) high risk. As suggested by health lifestyle theory, membership in these classes varied according to gender, race-ethnicity, and family structure. Consistent with the life course perspective, regression analyses indicated that those in the high-risk lifestyle tend to exhibit worse health in adolescence and adulthood than those in the low-risk lifestyle. Our findings confirm that socially patterned lifestyles can be observed in adolescence, and these lifestyles are potentially important for understanding the distribution of physical health across the early life course.

This essay offers a genealogy of lifestyle, a category widely used in the 1960s to mark dissident kinship networks and sexual practices: single parenting, bisexuality, gender nonconformity, polyamory, cohabitation, and communal living, among many others. I argue that the concept of lifestyle emerged in a desire among white mid-twentieth-century suburbanites for the social and sexual worlds that preceded rapid suburbanization, those most visible in the immigrant industrial metropolis at its peak in the decades immediately before the United States drastically restricted immigration in 1924. Even at the apex of suburbanization in the 1960s, many people refused to comply with the demand for suburban domesticity, staying in the city, joining countercultural groups, or adopting what came to be called alternative lifestyles. But in that act of dissent, urban planners, real estate developers, and marketing experts saw an opportunity and began to sell urban lifestyle landscapes that they claimed would reproduce the sexual heterogeneity of the early twentieth-century industrial metropolis. By the 1980s, as ever more people lived outside the nuclear family, a growing lifestyle market drove up prices in central cities that amplified the class and race exclusions that the social movements of the 1960s contested. This article is therefore both a critical and a recuperative reading of lifestyle, one that uses the category to show how dissident sexualities can be both the harbinger of the niche-marketed gentrified city and an incitement to new ways of living and loving that advance the pursuit of economic justice.

This article utilizes the agency-structure debate as a framework for constructing a health lifestyle theory. No such theory currently exists, yet the need for one is underscored by the fact that many daily lifestyle practices involve considerations of health outcomes. An individualist paradigm has influenced concepts of health lifestyles in several disciplines, but this approach neglects the structural dimensions of such lifestyles and has limited applicability to the empirical world. The direction of this article is to present a theory of health lifestyles that includes considerations of both agency and structure, with an emphasis upon restoring structure to its appropriate position. The article begins by defining agency and structure, followed by presentation of a health lifestyle model and the theoretical and empirical studies that support it.

Background: Listening demand, or auditory lifestyle, is an important factor that needs to be considered when selecting a hearing aid and specific amplification features. Although elderly adults often report having fewer listening demands, auditory lifestyles of people in different age groups have not been objectively quantified and compared. Although it is assumed that the social lifestyles of older adults, e.g., retirement, place fewer demands on hearing, this assumption has not been examined empirically. Purpose: The purposes of the current study were to (1) objectively characterize and compare the auditory lifestyle of younger and older adults with hearing impairment and (2) examine the relationships between age, social lifestyle, and auditory lifestyle. Research Design: This is a nonexperimental study using a correlational design. Study Sample: Twenty-seven adults with bilateral hearing impairment aged 40–88 yr were recruited and served as subjects. Data Collection and Analysis: To objectively quantify auditory lifestyle, participants carried noise dosimeters to measure sound levels in their daily lives for 1 wk. To help interpret the dosimeter data, participants used paper-and-pencil journals to describe their listening activities and environments. The auditory lifestyle was also subjectively quantified by the Auditory Lifestyle and Demand Questionnaire (ALDQ). Three self-report inventories were used to characterize participants' social lifestyles: Social Network Index, Welin Activity Scale, and Social Convoy Questionnaire. Results: A total of 1,267 journal entries covering 2,032 hr of dosimeter recordings were obtained from participants for analyses. Although younger and older participants reported spending comparable time in a given category of listening event, the dosimeter-measured sound level was higher for younger listeners. For auditory lifestyle quantified by dosimeter, correlation analyses revealed that older age was associated with lower Social Network Index scores (smaller social networks) and fewer listening demands. Regression models further indicated that the Social Network Index score more accurately predicted listening demand than age. Finally, path analysis suggested that the effect of age on listening demand was mediated by the Social Network Index score. Self-report auditory lifestyle measured by the ALDQ was not associated with age and social lifestyle. Conclusions: The results indicate that older listeners tend to encounter quieter listening situations than younger listeners. The data are also consistent with the hypothesis that older adults have less active social lifestyles that place fewer demands on hearing. Therefore, the current study suggests the important role of social lifestyle in listening demand and the need to consider this factor in clinical management of hearing loss.

Alternative lifestyles are likely to be associated with distinct usage of specific medicinal products. Our goal was to find out whether the intake of antibiotics during pregnancy and by children differs according to whether the mothers have alternative or conventional lifestyles. Therefore, we investigated the use of antibiotics by pregnant women and by children up to 11 years of age participating in the KOALA Birth Cohort Study. This cohort comprises two recruitment groups of mother–infant pairs, one with alternative lifestyles (selected via organic food shops, anthroposophic clinicians and midwives, anthroposophic under-five clinics, Rudolf Steiner schools and relevant magazines, n = 491) the other with conventional lifestyles (no selection based on lifestyle, n = 2343). Mothers in the alternative lifestyle group more frequently adhered to specific living rules and identified themselves with anthroposophy more than mothers in the conventional lifestyle group. The results revealed significant differences in antibiotic use during pregnancy and in children from 3 months to 10 years of age between the two groups. The rate of antibiotic use in children was consistently lower in the alternative lifestyle group than in the conventional lifestyle group. Antibiotic use in pregnancy was higher in low educated women, and maternal antibiotic use during lactation was higher after an instrumented delivery in hospital. Antibiotic use in the infant was higher when they had older sibs or were born in hospital, and lower in those who had been longer breastfed. After adjustment for these factors, the differences in antibiotic use between the alternative and conventional groups remained. The results suggest that an alternative lifestyle is associated with cautious antibiotic use during pregnancy, lactation and in children.

AbstractWhile there is evidence that weight-loss interventions reduce morbidity, indications of their acceptability are limited. Understanding preferences for lifestyle interventions will help policymakers design interventions. We used a discrete choice experiment to investigate preferences for lifestyle interventions to reduce adult obesity. Attributes focused on: the components of the programme; weight change; short-term and longer-term health gains; time spent on the intervention and financial costs incurred. Data were collected through a web-based questionnaire, with 504 UK adults responding. Despite evidence that dietary interventions are the most effective way to lose weight, respondents preferred lifestyle interventions involving physical activity. While the evidence suggests that behaviour change support improves effectiveness of interventions, its value to participants was limited. A general preference to maintain current lifestyles, together with the sensitivity of take up to financial costs, suggests financial incentives could be used to help maximise uptake of healthy lifestyle interventions. An important target group for change, men, required more compensation to take up healthier lifestyles. Those of normal weight, who will increase in weight over time if they do not change their lifestyle, required the highest compensation. Policymakers face challenges in inducing people to change their behaviour and adopt healthy lifestyles.

The purpose of this article is to identify what factors influence employees’ opinions on supervisors’ interference with their lifestyles in remote working conditions during COVID-19. Our sample included 1000 participants, both managers and non-managers. Outcomes variables included the following: managerial interference with the lifestyle of employees, acceptance of different lifestyles, and unequal treatment of employees in relation to their lifestyle. Explanatory variables related to employees’ characteristics included sex, age, education and seniority and the position in the company (managers/workers), size of the team of employees, size of the organization, characteristics of work (individual/teamwork), as well as the degree of formality in employees’ behaviors. Analysis was conducted using logistic regression in a multivariate analysis of individual (employee-side) and organizational determinants. Our research has shown that lifestyle acceptance, lifestyle interference when working remotely, and unequal treatment of employees based on lifestyle are determined as follows: the organization’s characteristics, the nature of the work, and the social characteristics of the employees. Our findings contribute to understanding how remote work is perceived in relation to employees’ lifestyles. These insights can help organizations develop effective policies and practices regarding, for example, health interventions to support and not unreasonably interfere with their privacy.

Introduction: Passive lifestyles carried out by community groups, such as among students, can cause health problems in the future, such as the emergence of degenerative diseases and endocrine diseases. Certain lifestyles that are carried out can be influenced by internal factors such as sociodemographic factors. This study aims to analyze the sociodemographic factors that trigger passive lifestyle behaviour in students. Methods: the design of this research is a description. The research was conducted in June 2022, involving 127 respondents from Malang city. The population in this study were students in the town of Malang; the research sample was some students who lived passive lifestyles. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with the criteria that students were living a passive lifestyle, as evidenced by a score of less than 36 (inactive lifestyle) obtained from screening using a questionnaire. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) is used to identify the passive.Furthermore, the data were analyzed by bivariate analysis with chi-square and multivariate with odds ratio. Results: the results of the study show that the education factor triggers a passive lifestyle among students, with a value of 13.625 or 13.6%, meaning that 13.6% of the trigger for an inactive lifestyle is from the education factor. Conclusion: based on the study's results, it can be concluded that a person's behaviour is determined mainly by their attitudes and understanding. So it is essential to give massive educational efforts to teenagers about the impact of a passive lifestyle to change their behaviour.

The data was analyzed using 'R Programing Language' to obtain the results. The study revealed that in a collectivist culture society like Thailand, student lifestyles consist of five dimensions, i.e., family-oriented, community consciousness, modern, family concern, and traditional lifestyle. The correlation results showed that community consciousness and a modern lifestyle were significantly associated with creative ideation after controlling for gender and age variables. In contrast, family concern, family-oriented, and a traditional lifestyle were not. These findings suggest that undergraduate students who endorse modern and community consciousness lifestyles were likely to perform better in generating creative ideas.

Lifestyle affects health and life expectations and care training programs are attempts to change patients' lifestyles. The study aims to evaluate the effects of educational intervention on the lifestyle of patients with knee osteoarthritis. In this clinical trial, 60 patients with knee osteoarthritis were studied before and after total knee arthroplasty. Before surgery, health-promoting lifestyle profile II (HPLP II) was completed for all patients. Then the patients attended educational programs about aspects of lifestyle before undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Three months after the surgery, the questionnaire was again completed for all patients. Finally, the obtained data were analyzed statistically. The mean score of the components of health responsibility ( vs. ), physical activity ( vs. ), nutrition ( vs. ), self-actualization ( vs. ), interpersonal support ( vs. ), and total mean of HPLP II questionnaires ( vs. ) significantly increased after the training (p<0.05). However, the education program did not improve the mental stress management component ( vs. p=0.479). Educational intervention can improve the lifestyle of patients with knee osteoarthritis after total knee arthroplasty. These training programs are ineffective in improving stress management components and should be further investigated by future studies. The present study provided significant findings on education and improving lifestyle. The findings of this study provide a new vision for policymakers to reduce health problems by refining lifestyles.

This study aimed to verify the influence of autonomy and self-control as psychological factors on the changes in lifestyles of inactive college students by participating in regular exercise. A total of 188 university students in Seoul, Korea, taking physical fitness classes for 5 weeks held three times a week participated in the surveys. Surveys were conducted in the first session (T1) and 15th session (T2) of the classes. Autonomy in exercise participation and self-control were measured at T1, and healthy lifestyle was measured at both T1 and T2. A paired t-test was used to measure the changes in healthy lifestyle between two time points, and hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to determine the effect of autonomy in exercise participation and self-control measured at T1 on the healthy lifestyle score at T2. According to the analysis, participants’ healthy lifestyles were improved with a statistically significant difference between pre- and post-exercise. Furthermore, the levels of autonomy and self-control before the fitness classes positively influenced the participants’ healthy lifestyle after the classes even when the influence of healthy lifestyle measured before the classes was controlled. Thus, it was confirmed that autonomy for participation and self-control are important to change one’s healthy lifestyle through regular exercise participation.

While the health-enhancing benefits of exercise and good nutrition have been well documented, the ability of health professionals to encourage healthier lifestyle behaviors among those they serve continues to prove challenging. Creating the conditions where healthier living can both occur and be sustained requires thinking beyond the traditional provision of services and prescriptions that occur in healthcare settings. Healthy Lifestyle Centers are emerging as a way of deploying lifestyle medicine practices. Turning these centers into cooperative businesses has the potential to make them more effective. Cooperative business principles are well established, and they enable individuals to become makers and producers of their own healthy lifestyles, providing a greater opportunity for sustained lifestyles changes. The purpose of this article is to further examine the role of engagement practices and coproduction as they relate to cooperative business models and to propose a framework for a Cooperative Healthy Lifestyle Center.
