The Mostar index of a graph G is defined as the sum of absolute values of the differences between nu and nv over all edges e = uv of G, where nu(e) and nv(e) are respectively, the number of vertices of G lying closer to vertex u than to vertex v and the number of vertices of G lying closer to vertex v than to vertex u. A cactus is a graph in which any two cycles have at most one common vertex. In this paper, we determine all the n-vertex cacti with the largest Mostar index, and we give a sharp upper bound of the Mostar index for cacti of order n with k cycles, and characterize all the cacti that achieve this bound.

The relevance of the problem is due to the lack of a method and indicators for assessing the level of transport mobility of cities. The purpose of the article is to develop a method for assessing the level of transport mobility. Currently, there are no science - based criteria for assessing the level of mobility in terms of the convenience of passengers using various types of public transport for travel. The use of the transport mobility index will contribute not only to improving the quality of passenger transport, but also to improving the level of transport services in General. The developed method for assessing the level of transport mobility will allow you to study the dynamics of changes in indicators and plan measures to improve the quality of transport services. The implementation of the proposed method will allow analyzing routes, as well as planning measures to increase the level of transport mobility and the attractiveness of public transport for passenger transportation.

In the light of rapidly increasing applications of large-eddy simulations (LES), it is deemed necessary to impose some quality assessment measures for such studies. The verification of LES calculations is difficult because of the fact that both the subgrid scale (SGS) model contribution and numerical discretization errors are functions of the grid resolution. In this study, various indexes of quality measures, hereafter referred to as LES̱IQ, are proposed. The recommended LES̱IQ is based on the Richardson extrapolation concept. This method has been applied to various cases and the calculated LES̱IQ results are compared with the relative total experimental and direct numerical simulation (DNS) error, defined as IQ̱EX and IQ̱DNS, respectively. It is postulated that in practical applications of LES, numerical dissipation will always be a significant part of the overall dissipation, and it must be accounted for in any assessment of the quality of LES. It is further suggested that LES̱IQ of 75% to 85% can be considered adequate for most engineering applications that typically occur at high Reynolds numbers; the proposed index is an indicator of good resolution (i.e., verification), but not necessarily a good or accurate model (i.e., validation).

AbstractBalaban index is defined as $J\left( G \right)=\frac{m}{m-n+2}\Sigma \frac{1}{\sqrt{w\left( u \right)\cdot w\left( v \right)}},$ where the sum is taken over all edges of a connected graph G, n and m are the cardinalities of the vertex and the edge set of G, respectively, and w(u) (resp. w(v)) denotes the sum of distances from u (resp. v) to all the other vertices of G. In 2011, H. Deng found an interesting property that Balaban index is a convex function in double stars. We show that this holds surprisingly to general graphs by proving that attaching leaves at two vertices in a graph yields a new convexity property of Balaban index. We demonstrate this property by finding, for each n, seven trees with the maximum value of Balaban index, and we conclude the paper with an interesting conjecture.

A model to describe an effective statistic index of crop rotation level is particularly appealing for management of large-area crop rotation, because the statistic index of crop rotation level is easy to provide fast and accurate information of large-area crop rotation. We experimentally realized such a statistic index of crop rotation level using a model based on data from satellite remote sensing images. The statistic index of crop rotation level describes the status of large-area crop rotation with a statistic period or frequency. Our analysis indicated that the statistic index of crop rotation level was mediated by processing the remote sensing images of rice and cotton. Taken together with the demonstrated computation of the statistic index of crop rotation level of XingHua City, Jiangsu Province, China, our results establish the application feasibility of the statistic index of crop rotation level in management of large-area crop rotation.
