Анотація:
With the advent of constitutional revolution in Iran and the increase in people’s knowledge, women’s status changed and ultimately improved. Publishing newspaper was one of the women’s attempts to keep their rights. Lady Somayyeh Kahhal was the first woman in this field, as well as ophthalmology in Iran. She published the first specialized newspaper for women in Iran under the title of Danesh (Knowledge). Lady Kahhal tried to disseminate information on women’s rights, moral issues and also health and hygiene in her weekly-published newspaper. In this paper, we will review the remaining biographical information about Kahhal and will introduce her newspaper, Danesh. [GMJ.2015;4(2):129-32]

Анотація:
Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji lebih dalam nilai-nilai tasawuf dalam kumpulan puisi karya Kahlil Gibran. Hal ini dikarenakan puisi-puisi Kahlil Gibran diduga kuat mengandung nilai-nilai tasawuf meskipun ia bukan seorang muslim. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan (Libarry Research). Sumber data dalam penelitian berupa primer dan sekunder. Data primer diambil dari tiga puisi Kahlil Gibran dalam buku yang berjudul Setitis Air Mata Seulas Senyum. Sementara data sekunder meliputi dokumentasi berupa buku dan artikel yang berkaitan dengan penelitian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara mendokumentasi karya-karya Kahlil Gibran serta berbagai rujukan referensi lainnya. Adapun analisisnya menggunakan metode analisis pesan atau isi yang terkandung dalam puisi-puisi Kahlil Gibran. Hasil dari penelitan ini menunjukkan bahwa ketiga puisi Kahlil Gibran mengandung dua karakteristik yaitu tasawuf akhlaqi dan falsafi. Hal ini diperkuat lagi dengan ditemukannya sembilan nilai-nilai tasawuf di dalamnya. Nilai-nilai tasawuf tersebut adalah mahabbah, zikir, syukur, tafakur, ridho, taubat, tawakal, ikhtiar, dan ittihad.

Анотація:
In the process of reading sometimes the readers have difficulty identifying the meaning of words correctly, especially words with affixes of prefixes and suffixes. The writer had made three objects of research. The first research is to find out how many affixes were used in the poetry “The Forerunner” by Kahlil Gibran, the second research is to find out what types were used in the poetry “The Forerunner” by Kahlil Gibran, the third research is to find out what types were dominant use in the poetry “The Forerunner” by Kahlil Gibran. In this study, the writer uses a descriptive mixed method that described, identified, classified, and calculated numerical data on the words of affixes found in Kahlil Gibran’s poetry. The result of the research shows the total number of affixes is 105 data found in the four chapters of the poetry “The Forerunner” by Kahlil Gibran. There are two types of affixes used in the four chapters of the poetry “The Forerunner” by Kahlil Gibran prefixes and suffixes. The dominant types of affixes found in the four chapters of the poetry “The Forerunner” by Kahlil Gibran were suffixes found in 99 data with a percentage of 94,3%.

Анотація:
Kahlil Gibran is a Lebanese-American artist, writer, and poet. He is no stranger to literary lovers and connoisseurs. His phenomenal works made Kahlil Gibran famous. His life experience also adds its unique value to his works. The various meanings hidden behind each of his works deserve further analysis. Some of them are typical poems from Kahlil Gibran. He has his way of expressing the true meaning of life through his poems. Therefore, this study will show the symbolic meaning of these poems by using the hermeneutical analysis method from Paul Ricoeur. This method explains the meaning of the symbol in real life. A symbol is a form that gives meaning to every word or sentence contained in a literary work. The result of this analysis is the discovery of various kinds of symbols contained in the poems by Kahlil Gibran, including symbols of love, life, and death. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that love, life, and death are some of the symbols found in Kahlil Gibran's poems.

Анотація:
The purpose of this research; (1) describe, explore, and analyze the shift in religious ideology in Kahlil Gibran's poem Almustafa, (2) describe, explore, and analyze the construction of the reality of religious values in Kahlil Gibran's Almustaf poem. This type of research is classified as a qualitative descriptive research. The approach used is a critical literacy approach, which is to analyze the use of language aspects that experience a shift in religious values. The object of this research is the poem Almustafa by Kahlil Gibran. Data collection techniques used library techniques, namely reading, understanding, and analyzing the poem Almustafa by Kahlil Gibran. The data analysis technique uses library techniques, namely by reading, understanding, and analyzing the poem Almustafa by Kahlil Gibran through a critical literacy approach. The results showed that; (1) there is a shift in religious values in some parts of the poem. In poetry, Kahlil Gibran's views on religious values contain controversy between the title which is illustrated as a form of reflection of Islamic figures and the illustration presented. The shift in religious values occurs due to errors in the use of language aspects, namely concrete words, idioms, and figurative language used that are not in accordance with the context. The language aspect is fragments of poetry in the form of words, clauses, or sentences, (2) the shifts that occur, both in nature and in scope are different, this is due to differences in religious values conveyed by the construction of reality in the text. The shift is in the form of syncretism of several religious values, namely Islam, Hinduism, Christianity so that the benchmark for the value of truth in a message and the meaning of poetry becomes abstract. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk, (1) mendeskripsikan, mengeksplorasi, dan menganalisis pergeseran ideologi agama dalam puisi Almustafa karya Kahlil Gibran, (2) mendeskripsikan, mengeksplorasi, dan menganalisis konstruksi realitas nilai agama dalam puisi Almustaf karya Kahlil Gibran. Jenis penelitian ini tergolong penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah ancangan literasi kritis, yaitu menganalisis penggunaan aspek bahasa yang mengalami pergeseran nilai-nilai agama. Objek penelitian ini adalah puisi Almustafa karya Kahlil Gibran. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik pustaka, yaitu membaca, memahami, dan menganalisis puisi Almustafa karya Kahlil Gibran. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik pustaka, yaitu dengan membaca, memahami, dan menganalisis puisi Almustafa karya Kahlil Gibran melalui ancangan literasi kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa; (1) terjadi pergeseran nilai-nilai agama dalam beberapa bagian puisi. Dalam puisi, pandangan-pandangan Kahlil Gibran tentang nilai-nilai agama mengandung kontroversi antara judul yang diilustrasikan sebagai bentuk refleksi tokoh Islam dengan ilustrasi yang disampaikan. Pergeseran nilai-nilai agama terjadi akibat kesalahan penggunaan aspek bahasa, yaitu kata konkret, idiom, dan bahasa figuratif yang digunakan tidak sesuai dengan konteksnya. Aspek bahasa tersebut merupakan penggalan-penggalan puisi berupa kata, klausa, atau kalimat, (2) pergeseran yang terjadi, baik sifat maupun cakupannya berbeda-beda, hal ini disebabkan oleh adanya perbedaan nilai-nilai agama yang disampaikan dengan konstruksi realitas yang ada dalam teks. Pergeseran tersebut berupa sinkretisme beberapa nilai agama, yaitu Islam, Hindu, Nasrani, dan Yahudi sehingga tolok ukur nilai kebenaran dalam sebuah pesan dan makna puisi menjadi abstrak.

<p><strong>Abstract:</strong> This study aims to describe and explain the means of cohesion in the formation of the wholeness of discourse in a collection of love poems by Kahlil Gibran entitled "Melancholocic Gibran Works by Soul-Raising Syahdu". The approach used in this study uses a qualitative descriptive approach and this type of research uses the type of discourse analysis research. The data in this research are in the form of excerpts from poetry that can describe cohesion and coherence in a collection of love poems by Kahlil Gibran. The data source of this research is a collection of love poems by Kahlil Gibran entitled "Melancholocic Gibran Works by Soul-Saving Souls". The results of this research are grammatical cohesion tools used by a collection of love poems by Kahlil Gibran entitled "Melancholocic Gibran by Soul-Enhancing Syahdu Works" are exophoric references, anaphoric references, wordfora references, nominal substitution, elliptical clauses, additive and conjunctive coordinating conjunctions, are exophoric references, anaphoric references, wordaphoric references, nominal substitution, elliptical clauses, additive and conjunctive coordinating conjunctions, are exophoric references, anaphoric references, wordaphoric references, nominal substitution, elliptical clauses, additive and conjunctive coordinating conjunctions. resistance, attribute subordinative conjunction, and subordinative conjunction time.</p><strong>Abstrak: </strong>Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan sarana kohesi dalam pembentukan keutuhan wacana pada kumpulan puisi cinta karya Kahlil Gibran yang berjudul “<em>Melancholocic Gibran Karya-karya Syahdu Penggugah Jiwa</em>”. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dan jenis penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian analisis wacana. Data dalam penelitan ini berupa kutipan larik puisi yang bisa menggambarkan kohesi dan koherensi dalam kumpulan puisi cinta karya Kahlil Gibran. Sumber data penelitian ini ialah kumpulan puisi cinta karya Kahlil Gibran yang berjudul “<em>Melancholocic Gibran Karya-karya Syahdu Penggugah Jiwa</em>”. Hasil dari penelitan ini sarana kohesi gramatikal yang digunakan kumpulan puisi cinta karya Kahlil Gibran yang berjudul “<em>Melancholocic Gibran Karya-karya Syahdu Penggugah Jiwa</em>” adalah referensi eksofora, referensi anafora, referensi katafora, substitusi nomina, elipsis klausa, konjungsi koordinatif penambahan <em>dan, </em>konjungsi koordinatif perlawanan, konjungsi subordinatif atributit, dan konjungsi subordinatif waktu.

Penelitian ini berfokus pada penggunaan Metafora yang terdapat dalam kumpulan puisi Setitis Air Mata, Seulas Senyum karya Kahlil Gibran. Permasalahan yang dikaji dalam penelitian ini yaitu bagaimana penggunaan metafora dalam kumpulan puisi Setitis Air Mata, Seulas Senyum karya Kahlil Gibran. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan metafora dalam kumpulan puisi Setitis Air Mata, Seulas Senyum karya Kahlil Gibran. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian yang bersifat kualitatif yaitu penelitian yang tidak melakukan atau mengadakan perhitungan dengan objek penelitian kumpulan puisi Setitis Air Mata, Seulas Senyum karya Kahlil Gibran. Metode pengumpulan data yang di gunakan adalah metode dokumentasi dan metode simak. Metode analisis data yang di gunakan adalah deskriptif. Berdasarkan analisis data, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa Metafora yang telah di temukan pada kumpulan puisi Setitis Air Mata, Seulas Senyum berjumlah 82 data di antaranya yaitu metafora antropomorfis berjumlah 26 data, metafora hewan berjumlah 10 data, metafora dari abstrak ke konkret berjumlah 31 data, dan metafora sinestesia berjumlah 15 data

Анотація:
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keinginan peneliti untuk mengidentifikasi makna konotatif pada kumpulan puisi Ketika Cinta Bicara karya Kahlil Gibran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan makna konotatif yang digunakan pada kumpulan puisi Ketika Cinta Bicara karya Kahlil Gibran. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah kumpulan puisi Ketika Cinta Bicara karya Kahlil Gibran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, makna konotatif yang digunakan pada kumpulan puisi Ketika Cinta Bicara karya Kahlil Gibran dari 9 puisi yang dipilih, ditemukan makna konotatif secara keseluruhan berjumlah 71 penggunaan, di antaranya pada puisi yang berjudul Cinta, ditemukan makna konotatif berjumlah 8, puisi yang berjudul Demi Surga, Jantung Hatiku berjumlah 6, puisi yang berjudul Gita Cinta berjumlah 15, puisi yang berjudul Musim Panas berjumlah 4, puisi yang berjudul Musim Gugur berjumlah 5, puisi yang berjudul Musim Dingin berjumlah 8, puisi yang berjudul Pandangan Pertama berjumlah 7, puisi yang berjudul Ciuman Pertama berjumlah 8, dan puisi yang berjudul Pernikahan berjumlah 10 penggunaan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa setiap larik pada kumpulan puisi Ketika Cinta Bicara karya Kahlil Gibran mengandung makna konotatif di setiap syairnya. Saran yang dapat diberikan peneliti khususnya bagi guru bahasa dan sastra Indonesia, melalui kumpulan puisi Ketika Cinta Bicara karya Kahlil Gibran dapat dijadikan sebagai materi pembelajaran sastra untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menganalisis dan mengapresiasi karya sastra. Bagi siswa, hendaknya memperluas wawasanya pada materi mengenai makna konotatif, sehingga mampu membedakan makna konotatif di dalam sebuah karya sastra khususnya dalam puisi Ketika Cinta Bicara. Bagi peneliti selanjutnya, penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi dalam mengembangkan penelitian selanjutnya yang masih dalam ruang lingkup yang sama

Анотація:
The objective of this research is to find out the figurative languages in the Broken Wings by Kahlil Gibran. This research is descriptive qualitative. The data was taken from Kahlil Gibran’s novel entitled “The Broken Wings”. The researcher analyzes the data based on Abrams’s theory (1999) about figurative language. The result analysis shows that Based on table 9 above, shows there are several types of figurative language in “The Broken Wings” by Kahlil Gibran. 292 data contains figurative language in 8 types of figurative language including simile, personification, metaphor, synecdoche, hyperbole, paradox, symbol, and proverb. In a simile, there are 128 data (43.8 %). In personification, there are 34 data (11.6 %). In metaphor, there are 33 data (11.3 %). In synecdoche, there are 30 data (10.3 %). In hyperbole, there are 25 data (8.6 %). In a paradox, there are 22 data (7.5 %). In symbol, there are 13 data (4.5 %). In the proverb, there are 7 data (2.4 %). It shows that the most dominant type of figurative language in “The Broken Wings” by Kahlil Gibran is simile as 128 data or 43.8 %. The novel Broken Wings by Kahlil Gibran is a romantic literary novel that tells the fate of Gibran's love story for a Lebanese girl named Selma Karamy. The writing of this novel is very light and easy to read and the way he writes it makes us immersed in the situation of the love story. The style of language used by the author in this novel is very distinctive. The author provides proof that his love story wrapped in romance is written in beautiful and interesting language to the readers.

The Use of Deixis in Kisah Negeri Lain by Kahlil GibranThis study aims to describe the form and function of deixis in Kisah Negeri Lain by Kahlil Gibran. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The study data was collected through a reading-note technique. The data analysis was carried out using an interactive model which included, (1) data reduction (2) data presentation (3) temporary conclusion drawing, and (4)verification. The results showed that in Kisah Negeri Lain by Kahlil Gibran, various forms and functions of deixis were found. The forms of deixis in question include, (1) personal deixis consisting of the first person, second person, and third person, (2) place deixis, (3) time deixis consisting of past, present, and future times, (4) deixis discourse consisting of anaphora and cataphora, (4) social deixis. The deixis functions in question include, (1) expressive functions, (2) conative functions, (3) referential functions, and (4) phatic functions.AbstrakKajian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bentuk dan fungsi deiksis dalam Kisah Negeri Lain karya Kahlil Gibran. Metode yang digunakan bersifat deskriptif kualitatif. Data kajian dikumpulkan melalui teknik baca-catat. Adapun analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan model interaktif yang meliputi, (1) pereduksian data (2) penyajian data (3) penarikan simpulan sementara, dan (4) verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam Kisah Negeri Lain karya Kahlil Gibran ditemukan bentuk dan fungsi deiksis yang beragam. Bentuk deiksis yang dimaksud meliputi, (1) deiksis persona yang terdiri dari persona pertama, persona kedua, dan persona ketiga, (2) deiksis tempat, (3) deiksis waktu yang terdiri dari waktu lampau, sekarang, dan mendatang, (4) deiksis wacana yang terdiri dari anafora dan katafora, (4) deiksis sosial. Adapun fungsi deiksis yang dimaksud meliputi, (1) fungsi ekspresif, (2) fungsi konatif, (3) fungsi referensial, dan (4) fungsi fatis.

Abstrak Jubran Khalil Jubran (1883-1931) adalah seorang tokoh sastra Arab Modern. Namun karena ia tinggal di perantauan Amerika, akulturasi budaya dirinya pun terjadi, sesuai tradisinya di Barat, ia hanya menggunakan dua suku kata yaitu Khalil Jubran. Akan tetapi orang Amerika kesulitan melafalkan huruf kha ( خ) dari nama Khalil ( خليل ), maka lafalnya kemudian menjadi Kahlil. Transliterasi ini keliru dan tidak ada nama Arab yang ditulis sebagai Kahlil ) كهليل ). Namun Khalil menggunakannya untuk memberi kemudahan masyarakat menyebut namanya tanpa kesulitan. Sedangkan perubahan nama Jubran menjadi Gibran terjadi karena proses peralihan dialek. Diantara kontribusi sastra Arab yang sempat ia berikan adalah memperkaya keragaman sastra dengan puisi dan prosa liriknya, menyebarkan aliran simbolik dan mengangkat suara-suara kemanusiaan yang terzhalimi. Melalui karya itulah ia menyuarakan rasa cinta dan kerinduannya akan keadilan sejati sampai akhir hayatnya---Jubran Khalil Jubran(1883-1931)was a prominent figure in modern Arabic literature. According to the West tradition, he only uses two syllables, namely Khalil Jubran. Bu tthe Americans difficulty pronouncing the letter kha ( خ) of the name Khalil ( خليل ), then the pronunciation then becomes Kahlil. Actually, transliteration is wrong and there are no Arabic names are written as Kahlil ( كهليل ). But Khalil used it to ease the public naming him without any difficulties. Meanwhile, the name of Jubran changes to Gibran because of transitioning dialect. Among his contributions to the Arabic literary are enrich the diversity of literature with poetry and prose lyrics, spreading flow of symbolic and voicing of oppressed people. Through his work, he voiced a sense of love and longing for true justice until his death.

Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan analisis semiotik sebagai alat analisis. Puisi "Cinta yang Agung" dipilih sebagai objek penelitian karena mengandung makna yang dalam dan kompleks, serta melibatkan penggunaan tanda-tanda dalam membentuk makna dan pesan yang tersembunyi. Penelitian yang akan dibahas, yaitu mengenai lima kode Roland Barthes dan menganalisis setiap tanda yang terdapat dalam data. Kahlil Gibran is one of the most important writers of modern Arabic literature and one of the most successful poets of English in the twentieth century. He is undoubtedly a pioneer among Arab poets and novelists writing in English and the most important figure in the Émigré literary movement. His world-wide popularity is due in large part to his universal spiritual message of love and compassion. This study, focusing on both his Arabic and English works, seeks to explore the various contextual aspects that affect all of Gibran’s works since his birth in Mount Lebanon. It also presents a critical overview of all his works for readers and critics that seek a deeper appreciation and a more comprehensive understanding of this literary genius. The study highlights the spiritual element which serves as the link that unifies his Arabic and English works and propels them to enduring literary and popular success across cultures. Keywords: Kahlil Gibran, Āmigré Literature, Diaspora Writers, Spirituality, Perennialism. Abstrak Kahlil Gibran merupakan salah seorang penulis yang tersohor dalam kesusasteraan Arab moden dan salah seorang penyair Inggeris yang berjaya pada abad kedua puluh. Kajian ini difokuskan kepada kedua-dua karya Arab dan Inggerisnya untuk meneroka pelbagai aspek kontekstual yang mempengaruhi semua karya Gibran sejak kelahirannya di Gunung Lubnan. Kajian ini juga memberikan gambaran keseluruhan yang kritis mengenai semua karya beliau kepada pembaca dan pengkritik yang mencari penghayatan yang lebih mendalam dan pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif tentang kehebatan sastera ini. Kajian ini juga mengenengahkan unsur kerohanian yang berfungsi sebagai penghubung yang menyatukan hasil karya Arab dan Inggerisnya dan mendorong mereka kepada kejayaan sastera dan popular yang berkekalan di seluruh budaya. Abstract. As you know, the semantic and functional types of Uzbek anthroponymy are the names of people, surnames, patronymics and nicknames. The creator of a fictional work applies overwhelming number of concepts in terms of anthroponomy. Nicknames play a particularly significant role in representing the stylistic aspects of the work. In addition, nicknames also perform functional tasks. The author carries out their transition from the appellative level to the onomastic level. The article provides a linguistic analysis of the nicknames presented in the stories of Abdullah Kahhar. We will briefly focus on the anthroponymic units of onomastics of the Uzbek language, as well as consider a broad approach to the classification of nicknames in the stories of the writer and provide information about the motives put forward in them. The article discusses the narrative structure and rhetorical devices of The Book of the Kahal (1869)– an influential pamphlet by the baptized Jew Jacob Brafman. The book breathes conspiracy theories and portrays the Jews as a state within a state governed by the Kahal and regulated by the Talmud, even when they try to pass themselves as a confession to fool gullible Christians. In line with the traditions of collaboration literature, the author, obsessed with the glorious Imperial might and full of disdain for all things Jewish, demands that the Jews abandon their treacherous “multifaceted” identity in favor of Russia.

Kritik sastra feminis merupakan studi sastra yang mengarahkan fokus analisanya pada perempuan yang menginginkan adanya keadilan dalam memandang eksistensi perempuan, serta berusaha memahami ketertindasan terhadap perempuan dan mencari upaya bagaimana mengatasi ketertindasan tersebut. Sastrawan Gibran Khalil Gibran mencoba mengkritisi fenomena ketidakadilan terhadap perempuan khususnya yang tercermin dalam karya-karyanya baik syair maupun prosa. Permasalahan ini terangkum dalam pertanyaan bagaimana konsep kritik sastra feminis dalam sastra Gibran Kahlil Gibran, serta melihat bagaimana ungkapan-ungkapan kritik feminis dalam sastra Kahlil Gibran. Penelitian ini akan dianalisa dengan metode deskriptif untuk dapat menggambarkan dan mendeskripsikan fenomena dan kejadian yang ada. sehingga pada akhirnya dapat disimpulkan bahwa ketidakadilan gender yang dialami oleh perempuan dan wujud gambaran perempuan Arab yang terekspresikan dalam berbagai ungkapan perempuan bahwa perempuan menginginkan kebebasan dari ketidakadilan yang mengukungnya.

Karya sastra merupakan salah satu bentuk ekspresi pengarang dalam mengungkapkan perasaan atau pengalaman yang pernah dialami dan digunakan sebagai media untuk menyampaikan pesan kepada orang lain. Salah satu bentuk karya sastra adalah puisi. Puisi merupakan karya sastra yang mengutamakan keindahan bahasa dan kepadatan makna. Tidak semua pembaca dapat memahami secara langsung tentang makna yang terkandung dalam puisi. Untuk dapat memahami maknanya, maka dibutuhkan suatu pendekatan untuk menganalisis unsur-unsur intrinsik di dalam puisi tersebut. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam artikel ini adalah pendekatan strukturalisme yang akan menjelaskan setiap unsur yang terdapat dalam puisi, seperti tema, gaya bahasa, amanat, dan sebagainya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dikarenakan peneliti melakukan analisis dengan dua teknik, yaitu teknik simak dan catat. Teknik simak dilakukan dengan cara membaca dan memahami setiap baris sajak dalam puisi, dan teknik catat dilakukan dengan cara mencatat hasil penelitian setelah peneliti memahami makna yang terkandung dalam setiap baris. Objek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah puisi Ibu Kahlil Gibran yang merupakan puisi tentang peran dan karakter seorang Ibu yang memiliki kasih sayang yang tidak terbatas. Even to show the truth ofreality portrait, Gibran does not hesitate to break the common order and the "approved" order, to the minutes details such as the application ofgrammar. This makes Gibran to bear the title The Heretic and The Rebellious. This style is followed and gives inspiration to many writers and another thinker after himself. This Gibran's thought and style to many people are called as Gibranism.

This study aims to reveal the stylistic used in a short story written by Kahlil Gibran entitled “Surakh al-Qubur” and also to describe the effect of it toward meaning. This is a descriptive qualitative research that used stylistic analysis to show the aesthetics side found in the short story. Based on data analysis, it was found that there are five categories of language styles in short story Surakh al-Qubur, they are: first, lexical (synonym and typical words); second, grammatical (verb and noun); third, rhetorical (alliteration, asyndeton, assonance, chiasmus, polysyndeton, and hyperbole) and figure of speech (metaphor, personification, simile, and eponym); fourth, cohesion and connectors such as al-wawu, al-fa’u, tsumma, au, and am; and fifth, character speech that can be analyzed using narration and dialogue. The influence of stylistic on meaning is that readers get the information directly or indirectly, feels sadness, gives advice, gets a picture of injustice, makes readers curious and more focused.

Leadership style in the novel of Sang Guru by Kahlil Gibran as understanding about the character and development of the community or of the literary works of the critics and historians especially reveals about the author who is influenced by the status of society where it originated, and social, political ideology, economic conditions as well as its target audience. With sociology of literature, the researcher wants to see the extent to which the literary work has a style of leadership. Here some leadership style found (1) Supportive Leadership, for example: the behavior of the teacher figure who always motivate the student, being friendly to the student, being good example, making himself as role model. (2) Participate Leadership, the involvement of the teacher in pursuing the success of the student, solving problems faced by the pupil, not apathy in dealing with the student. The objectives of the research are to identify positive personality traits in the poetical novella of The Broken Wings and to expose some actions, thoughts and feelings of the major characters that could be categorized into positive personality traits. Some related theories on personality traits are applied in this research, one of which, is the one proposed by Lauther (2012) stating that personality traits appear in the forms of action, attitude and behavior some may be positive such as: love, friendship, respect, honesty, responsibility, adaptability, compatibility, resolution, compassion, patience, courage and loyalty; while some others negative such attitude as laziness, shyness, arrogance, closeness , dishonesty, cruelty, and intolerance. The research is conducted by means of qualitative descriptive method proposed by Kothari (2004) having a goal of a comprehensive summarization, in everyday terms, of specific events experienced by individuals or groups of individuals. The research results show that there are four significant positive personality traits found in the whole course of the story: Love, Friendship, Resolution and Respect and these traits are all experienced by the major characters.

Love is a priceless gift and without it, life feels empty. Therefore, keep love with loyalty, honesty, and be able to keep our heart from being stained just for self-satisfaction which will regret in the end. This expression may as the basis for the writing of the novel "Broken Wings" by Khalil Gibran, a poet, philosopher, and painter from Lebanon. This work is considered very beautiful and tells the story of the fate that broke the wings of Gibran's love for a Lebanese girl named Selma Karamy. The objective of this research is to describe the meaning of love found in “The Broken Wings” by Kahlil Gibran. Love is the main theme in this story. The love in it is not only for Gibran to Selma Karamy, but also Selma Karamy's affection for his father is a form of love. Selma Karamy, who is starting to grow up, feels restless about her father. He realized that she was a woman. "Indeed, the tears of an old man are more meaningful than the tears of youth”. Love is not only for lovers, a child can give love to his parents. But, in the novel Wings of Broken, the love of a couple is highlighted. With his extraordinary sensitivity, Kahlil Gibran weaves a love story about a beautiful and passionate couple. The strength of this novel lies in its poetic lyrics which are full of meaning and the criticism it conveys. Love is interpreted as an attempt to love, do not have to have a loved one. Because in the end all will be returned to God, the Owner of Love. In this case, Gibran sees Selma as a ray of light that leads him to understand the meaning of life. Selma led Gibran to enter willingly into the paradise of pure love and truth with her sweetness and love. In The Broken Wings, Gibran uses the story of Adam and Eve to illustrate his story. When the love has died (or forced to die), what remains is only a row of sorrow that resides on the tomb. Leaving sweet dreams and painful memories behind. Just like a broken wing, unable to flap anymore.

There have been numerous dedicated studies on the life and works of Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931) which is understandable due to his stature and popularity in Arabic and American literatures. Nonetheless, it has been argued that the literary establishment has not given Gibran his due credit, especially in the United States, since Gibran has attained global recognition, been translated into tens of languages and sold more volumes than all other poets of America, including Walt Whitman and T.S. Eliot. This review seeks to present an overview of the studies about Gibran and highlight, when possible, the input of these studies on the spiritual aspects in his creative writings. These studies about Gibran and his works have been written in various languages, but the focus here will be on the studies published in English and Arabic, originally or in translation.

In 16 century, the sultanate Aceh under the Sultan Alauddin Riayat Syah al-Kahhar requested Ottoman as a powerful Islamic state in that time. Among the significant record wich refersto historical event, committed by al-Raniri in his 'magnum opus' Bustan al-Salatin. The Bustan al-Salatin record on Aceh-ottoman relation became benchmark to the further assistant request by following malay leaders. There is another sources, such as manuscript Tarikh Bandar Aceh Darussalam and Hikayat Meukota Alam which noted the same event and probably referring to the Bustan al-Salatin.

Tendo como ponto de partida a presença de objetos arqueológicos em três museus recifenses (Centro Cultural Judaico de Pernambuco: Sinagoga Kahal Zur Israel; Instituto Arqueológico, Histórico e Geográfico de Pernambuco; e Museu Militar Forte do Brum), buscamos problematizar a (in)visibilidade desses artefatos em contextos museais, e discutir questões atinentes aos processos de construção de narrativas e significados catalisados por esses objetos. Para tanto, além de descrever a organização expográfica e traçar um perfil dos visitantes destas instituições, analisamos como a religiosidade, história familiar e memória fomentam a “antropofagia” dos artefatos arqueológicos pelo público dos museus. Abstract: Motivated by the presence of archaeological objects in three Recife’s museums (Centro Cultural Judaico de Pernambuco: Sinagoga Kahal Zur Israel; Instituto Arqueológico, Histórico e Geográfico de Pernambuco; e Museu Militar Forte do Brum), we seek to problematize the (in) visibility of these artifacts in contexts museums, and discuss issues related to the processes of construction of narratives and meanings generated by these objects. Therefore, in addition to describing the expographic organization and drawing a profile of visitors to these institutions, we analyze how religiosity, family history and memory foster the “anthropophagy” of archaeological artifacts by museums visitors.

Novel Sayap-Sayap Patah ini merupakan salah satu karya seorang pengarang terkenal. Ia adalah Kahlil Gibran. Novel Sayap-Sayap Patah mengupas kehidupan pengarangnya sendiri di masa lalu dengan gemilang dan terbuka. Nilai-nilai sastra yang ada dalam novel ini merupakan kehidupan keseharian seorang Gibran sendiri sebagai novel yang mengandung unsur religusnya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan data tulis berupa kata, frase, atau kalimat yang mengandung nilai-nilai pendidikan. Analisis data dilakukan secara informal, yakni menggunakan uraian-uraian verbal tentang deskripsi nilai-nilai pendidikan. Teori nilai yang akan dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori nilai yang dikemukakan oleh Scheler. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai pendidikan terdiri atas nilai ketuhanan dan nilai kemanusiaan. Nilai ketuhanan meliputi nilai keagamaan. Sedangkan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan, meliputi nilai ketakberdayaan manusia, nilai keteduhan, nilai kehangatan, nilai kebersamaan, nilai impian, nilai ketenangan, nilai keharmonisan, nilai kasih dan syang, nilai rendah hati, nilai kebajikan, nilai cinta kepada ibu, nilai penghiburan, nilai bertanggung jawab, nilai dan kesombongan.

Morphology is one of the linguistic sciences that discusses the ins and outs of word formation such as compositum. Compositum is a combination of two words but the elements of compositum can be two or more words. Compositum has a word component as its forming element which has a special pattern so that it is different from other word combinations, such as idioms and phrases. The difference can be seen in terms of the level of meaning. Compositum can be classified into several types, namely based on the cohesiveness of meaning, the type of words of the elements, the distribution system, the complexity, and the language origin of the elements. Based on the cohesiveness of meaning, compositum consists of semicompound and non-compound compositum. Semicompound compositum is a compound word whose meaning is still related to the meaning of one of its elements. Meanwhile, a non-compound (tenuous) compositum is a compound word whose meaning is still related to the meaning of all its elements. Thus, many readers still do not know how semicompound and uncompound composites can be formed in Kahlil Gibran's poetry collection. In learning, there are still many educators who have not conveyed about compositum so that students do not know and have difficulty in determining compositum. Descriptive qualitative is the method used in this research. The purpose of this research is to analyze and describe semi-compound and non-compound compositum in a collection of poems by Kahlil Gibran. Based on the results of the analysis, there are 33 data including compositum based on the unity of meaning, namely 11 data showing semicompound compositum and 22 data including non-compound compositum.

The paper deals with structural and functional components of diversity and ecological characteristics of algae in the water column of the large Danubian lakes Kahul, Kartal, Yalpuh, Kuhurluy, Katlabukh, and Kytay in the late autumn-winter of 2019–2020. The water column algae’s taxonomic diversity comprised 188 species, represented by 191 infraspecies taxa from 7 divisions, 14 classes, 30 orders, 61 families, and 108 genera. According to species diversity, the lakes can be put in the following order: the Yalpuh (78) > Kytay (76) > Kahul (75) > Kuhurluy (55) > Katlabukh (23) > Kartal (16 ist). Bacillariophyta, Chlorophyta and Cyanobacteria lead in species richness. According to habitat preference, planktonic forms made up 45%, benthic forms 24%, epiphytic forms 5%, littoral forms 15%, and eurytopic forms 11%. According to salinity preference indifferent species dominated, and according to pH preference alkaliphilic species prevailed. The Sorensen similarity index and Kendall rank correlation indices for leading families were rather low – 0.18–0.43 and 0.45–0.57 respectively, which is indicative of significant differences among the algal communities in the lakes under study. The algal cell count amounted to 2853–360325 thousand cells · dm–3, the biomass – 0.876–64.113 g · dm–3. According to the quantitative characteristics of planktonic algal communities and Cyanobacteria biomass, the Danubian lakes are eutrophic ecosystems.

Ten species of marine strombidiid ciliates were identified after protargol staining plankton samples. The taxonomic redescriptions include a diagnosis for Tontonia gracillima Faure-Fremiet, 1924, Strombidium wulffi (Wulff, 1919) Kahl, 1932, Strombidium acutum Leegaard, 1915, Strombidium constrictum (Meunier, 1910) Wulff, 1919, Strombidium compressum (Leegaard, 1915) Kahl, 1932, and Strombidium sulcatum Claparede & Lachmann, 1858. Four new species, Strombidium dalum n.sp., Strombidium epidemum n.sp., Strombidium rhynchum n.sp., and Strombidium tressum n.sp., are defined based primarily on the characteristics of the anterior oral polykinetids, numbers of oral polykinetids, and presence of anterior protuberance.

Mary Kahil was an Eastern Christian of the Melkite rite into which, through her influence, Louis Massignon was ordained a priest. The part she played in Louis Massignon’s life, though little known, cannot be overestimated. Theirs was a very unusual relationship, a spiritual friendship which lasted many years. Its high point was the Badaliya vow they took together in Damietta, Mary’s birthplace. She spent the rest of her life living out its ideals as an ‘extension’ of Massignon in Cairo, giving concrete form to his ideas. This article looks at all this from Mary’s perspective. After some discussion of her Egyptian/Syrian background, her relationship with Massignon and her work in Egypt on his behalf is discussed, followed by an account of the final years of her life after Massignon’s death. Finally, a suggestion is offered for a universal application of the Badaliya movement.
