Повний текст джерелаWalls are one of the dominant elements of garden. There are a variety of different styles of walls in Chinese garden. Walls did not just provide the functions of dividing and organizing space, but also enriches the scenery of the garden. However, in the structure of the French garden, walls only provide the function of enclosure. French architects will even hide the walls to create a broader view. The Chinese garden strives to present a looming scenery by using the walls, whereas the French garden utilizes perspective to present a panoramic view. Are these gardens trying to express some kind of ideal world image? Or, are they trying to express the relationship between human and nature through the implication suggested by the style of its structure ? In this thesis, the origin and definition of the words, Garden, yuan ( «garden» in Chinese), Landscape, an shanshui ( «landscape» in Chinese) will be discussed. Then the focus will move to the literati garden and the tour route formed by its walls, the gardens of Versailles and the tour route formed by its green fence, th relationships between visitors and space, as well as the discussion of the lay out of garden space, the symbol of wall opening, solar myth and the concept of lieu. And lastly, an analysis of the experience of visiting gardens mentioned in literatures will be presented, redepicting the landscape in the viewer’s subjective feeling

Although the garden is an enclosure, it opens up the space of the novel and is in fact its very metaphore. It is a place of experimentation with language, nourishing the sensual relationship between aragon and his writings. From this fertile world, a rea poetics of the garden takes place : the page becomes assimilated with the elements of nature. To state the garden means to state the "nature" of the discourse which is manifold. The garden is freed of its limits, and in the same vain, so is the novel. Повний текст джерелаThe aim of this thesis is two-fold. It offers a vision of the imaginary fin-de-siècle landscape, and it proposes a way to analyse fictional space. After having studied the inherent constraints of the spatial characteristics of gardens, as well as the elements that issue from its generic topos, we have shown how the age subverted a tradition by filling the garden with a particular content. This has also allowed us to show that the age organized, both in literature and in painting, an approach to the notion of space which highlighted its aesthetic principles : the garden, in that it is principled in artifice and is presented unlike nature, as a place always on the point to degenerating, appears as an archetype of fin-de-siècle space. Its representation being based on metaphor and oxymoron, the garden perverts the classificatory categories, and thus offers itself as a place where the academic procedures of mimesis are challenged

One way to answer is to make the hypothesis that our ability to put into words the ordinary dimension of the experience needs to be developed. With this aim in view, we first have to differenciate "particular experiences", which we are really used to tell, from the "ordinary experience", much more difficult to appreciate. The ordinary experience is the familiar substratum of our activities, to which we usually don't get many attention and which we don't discern very well because it is too close to us and too common. My research aims at developping this dimension of the everyday's experience in a conceptual way as much as in a practical way in order to differently tell and see the public space. Progressively appears a peculiar method of observation and statement. I called it "the gardenning method" because it simply consists in "making a personal garden" in the public space

It defines the garden as a + site/sight for living ;, designed to connect its occupants with nature, and which allows us to distinguish those aspects which are related to its various functions. On the one hand, as in any space organised to accommmodate human beings, the garden can be split into its + housing ; aspects, which depend on the biological nature of its occupants, and a + habitat ;, which contributes to the fashioning of a particular social structure. On the other hand, the sight which is the garden is made up of various elements intended not only to produce impressions on the spectators' five senses, but also to present elaborate compositions to them. These may aim to reproduce a particular image or conception one has of nature, but simultaneously they contribute to that image. However, even if an illusion or feeling of the natural is conveyed, it is always, in fact, the fruit of human labour and consequentially artificial. Finally, the sight would not be correctly perceived and understood without the help of + viewing ; devices which present it to the spectator in a given way, calculated to produce certain effects. When applied to chinese gardens, this structure for analysis allows one to bring out their richness and specific characteristics. The chinese garden closely combines housing and sights : the same element or device fulfills several functions simultaneously, and thus takes part multiplely in the spatial organisation of the garden. This modus studendi provides us with the means to compare different gardens point for point, and better to evaluate the specificity of each one within the tradition, and to see which function is fulfilled differently or better. It should allow a better knowledge of different styles of garden and their geographical, temporal or social variations

The first one explores the idea of ὁ κῆπος presented in ancient texts from Homer to Epicurus; the second investigates its modern philosophical meaning referring to the thought of Nietzsche, Heidegger, Arendt, Deleuze, Foucault, Derrida and Desanti, which fruits in the term of “the garden of philosophy”. All philosophical problems appear in a specific situation and establish our relations to social and natural environment. Greek philosophy is usually associated to Agora, the place where the people gather together to exchange their views. In my thesis I try to put it in a different context – out of the city and its institutions, and I tend to abandon the idea of polis as a “universal pattern of being and thinking”. Yet to conceive properly Hellenistic philosophy we have focus on garden situated extra muros, where : τᾶς φύσιος δ' ὁ πλοῦτος ὅρον τινὰ βαιὸν ἐπίσχει. His return to catholic faith in 1908 was the beginning of an intellectual and spiritual adventure where the dominant theme was mystic substitution, in the tradition of Huysmans. This work aims at demonstrating that the scientist is also a true writer, with his own original style. Very social and culturally engaged he is recognized as the most prestigious living writer of Quebec. The goal of this research is to offer translations of texts present in the book Au fond du jardin accompagnements from Jacques Brault. This book is considered as a microcosm of Brault´s production and offers a panoramic view of all his work. Significant aspects of his work were remarked along the research. The choice of texts to be translated was based upon those aspects. Each of the translations possesses a brief explanatory text, the translation with notes and, at the end, a commentary section of the translated text.

Повний текст джерелаAs a transition land between the vast steppes and the roof of the world of Pamir, Uzbekistan is also an area of contact between the great civilizations of the Ancient World: Persian, Turkish Chinese, Mediterranean, Indian and Slavic. From this geographical configuration, at the crossing point of the main cultural regions, the country inherited an brillant oasis-based agriculture system. In the light of past, this research shows the original features of traditional countryside in Uzbekistan and sketch a geography of today's rural areas. It also shows how and why the old oasis garden, long preserved from the ordeal of time and men, was ravaged by the Soviet agricultural policy. From titanic rural management plans, millions of hectares of collectivized lands were conquered until depletion of rivers and of Aral. Paradoxically, among the group of the ex-Soviet republics, present-day Uzbekistan distinguishes itself by the preservation of an agrarian system inherited from the socialist experience. The post-Soviet period is thus interpreted more in term of continuity rather than rupture. Nevertheless, a dim agricultural renewal is slowly rising, taking up again traditional practices

Повний текст джерелаThe garden in the french literature of the sixteenth century questions the renewal of the image of the garden and, more particularly, the literary commonplace. The field of enquiry is composed of realms as apparently alien as they are varied, all the more so as the very diverse discourses about the garden often prove complementary. The richness and the metamorphoses of the topos reflect some interesting manifestations of the transformations then at work in the mentalities and in the new man. It also appears that the literary discourses on the fiction garden meet with what the real gardens try to express, and contribute to elucidating the way the sixteenth century considers the garden, as the place where man pits himself with nature. The garden descriptions are divided in three groups : real gardens, in agricultural treatises and travel books; gardens of the personal transformation: in the religious allegory, in alchimy, and in the new ideal of rustic life; rhetorical gardens where is experimented a new variety, where poetics draws a clear line between the georgic style, as rigourous as a vegetable garden, and the very flexible expression of the new landscape of styles: the garden-landscape. Whatever their diversity, the images of the garden combine in a unexpected aggreement around the central problematics of the world variety. Every garden is an ordering of nature, which states a particular degree of interpretation of nature by art. The real garden, and more so its literary image, looks for a natural art in which gardening would become invisible

Повний текст джерелаTirso de molina's first work in prose is in the tradition of renaissance miscellanies for it skilfully combines various narratives together with three stage plays, a short story and numerous poems. This raises the question of the work's coherence and of its meaning, which this thesis aims to bring out in the light of such theoretical and methodological approaches as the analysis of the text in its literality, structuralist narratology, and semiotics. A close and thorough examination of tirso's "garden" then shows that the "cigarral system" underpins its architecture, as announced and outlined in the title itself, in the openings of chapters and the whole introductory part, and it reveals that the work's meaning is articulated upon a dual axis uniting the traditional lover's peregrinations with literary entertainment. Cigarrales de toledo thus appears as tirso's masterly presentation of his poetics, a brilliant expression and display of his esthetic principles

Повний текст джерелаThe tensions analyzed by Leo Marx in his 1964 essay The Machine in the Garden: Technology and the pastoral ideal in America, between the American Arcadia as a land of original purity and the trope of industrial threat is ghostly present throughout the works of both poets at stake in this dissertation: William Carlos Williams (1883-1963) and Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997). In this research I intend to analyze the processes by which the poets manage to claim ownership of their land in spite of the lurking mechanic apocalypse. Writing, each in his own time, both poets endeavor to reclaim the original historical and spatial meaning of their continent, by devising an autochthonous language that would provide a new “point of view” and a new “point of voice”, as means to prophesy a collective future for the nation from their personal “local” anchorage in their natal New Jersey. Striving to “make a start out of particulars” they intend to escape the vastness of the continent by focusing on the minute details surrounding them in their own garden state. The correspondence between the two poets also questions the periodization of literary movements, too often conceived as a series of breaks and schisms. The Garden State, metamorphic space covered with the remnants of industrialization provides us with a way to break free from the shackles of such categorization : from modernism to the Beat Generation

The study analyses the metamorphosis of this city in the course of the 20th century, during which its urban evolution changes completely, to the extent of taking on an opposite direction to the original plan with respect to some aspects. Throughout the first half of the century, Heliopolis was a commercial capitalist project, whose urban development was controlled by a Belgian colonial company. After the 1952-revolution, the company was nationalized and run by a majority of Egyptians under a socialist regime. Heliopolis was then taken up by the tertiary sector, which also spread all over the capital, changing its status from an autonomous garden city to an urban district in the heart of Cairo. This study is about tracing the urban, architectural and social transformations of heliopolis, emphasing the political and economic situation

Our a aim is to try and apprehend the movement of aragon's manner of writing and its genesis, it is also to define its modernity. Many of fact places aurelien in the aesthetics of the twenties: the way the narration was built up, the "perspectivistic" game of the points of view and the presence of every day life. Thanks to the biographical enquiry we can point out the working of imagination, when springing up. Thus we can see that the genesis of characteres is cultural, too, and owes something to others writings. An original idea of the person takes shape, which has much in common with theodule ribot's idea. Aurelien is a poetical novel, with collage and myth as poetical factors. Aragon creates the myth of aurelien: the man, who wanders in the city, misses his rendez-vous with the absolute which is represented by woman. Aurelien crystallizes the major trends of the aragonian novel. Once we have discussed the idea of modernity we shall point out the fact aragon's work takes place in tragical modernity. Aragon meets the tragical fatality of schopenhauer

This thesis was an opportunity to think about something that surrounds us in our daily life (the portrait in its numerous forms) but that we rarely question. The principal question I asked myself was how to portray my grandfather and his philosophy in a film. It seemed logical to treat this subject in three parts. The first part is a reflection on the portrait taken from a historical point of view. I deduce several functions of the portrait, describe the role. The model and resemblance play in each medium, in order to try to define the film portrait. The second part is a reflection on the making of the film. In the third part, I try to see if "Perry in his garden" can be included in the categories I defined in the first section. When I decided to make this portrait of my grandfather, he represented not only a model and an ethic (the protestant work ethic) but also my country (the United States). Now that I live in France, I see a simplicity, a harmony in my grandfather's relationship with the world that fascinates me, without knowing what to think of it. This is why I made the film. In my film commentary, other than the description itself, I treat three principal problems: the choice of the subject, the method used and the technical problems encountered due to the shooting and editing systems I chose. This study also has a sociological dimension: it is a study about objects and our relationship to them. To think about portraits means thinking about the image we have of people around us

Moreover, to auden, man is an exile, a wanderer sentenced to life after the original loss (the object of which is the mother's womb, the mythical plenitude of what lacan calls "la chose", what myths and religions usually and conveniently call "eden", "paradise" or "the golden age"). After the fall (into time, into consciousness, into being), man has been wandering between two poles: on the one hand a lost order, on the other hand the fantasy of an order to recreate, mainly through poetic forms. To auden, although language (and the dissociation of consciouness that is related to it) is the consequence of the fall, poetry and words still ideally pave the way to the restoration of a paradisal state in which the world and the word are reconciled. However, between paradise lost and paradise regained, auden's poetry (characterized as it is by the defence of tradition, prosody, poetic forms) keeps emphasizing the permanent effects of the original disaster

The garden is between heedlessness and intimism and looks like a source of inspiration for the city. The fascination comes from a number of small rules, itineraires, approaches, familiarities as well as free and light pleasures. Nature humbly completes this fascination that anyone can appreciate. Garden is both improvisation and break as well as natural and human environnement, factual territory and place for creation. It is heterogeneous and partitioned, and remains a green archipelago between daily life, fest and game. Before being trip and mediation, the garden is entertainment where society stages himself, a theatre where public and actors merge. It is invented and produced by urban society as entertainment area and aesthetic preservation. It is at the junction between nature and culture and cannot escape from the city nor ignore its presence. It may come from an urgent relation ship between man and city. It is issued from deep and nostalgic feelings with respect to giving up in from of nature. It reduces distance between urban being and nature. Identifying images that anyone spontaneously get about public garden, as well as both updating representations systems which governs and determines behaviors and daily pratices, and studying meaning structures which decides pratices, show that social imaginary marks and justifies people's attitudes and practices with respect to public garden. Public garden is an alive monument, issued from urbanity and artifice. It is not an outgrowth of the city. It is situated between thought and sensibleness and leads the visitor almost to an imaginary world. It is here for whom knows seing and appreciate it

Every thing seems to freely combine and turn-over line unharnessed vital energy. Man is the mirror of the universe and the universe is the mirror of his inner being. In the east however, the mirror is empty, neither capturing or repelling anything. It receives but doesn't heep. The mirror only captures other mirrors and this infinite reflection is the emptyness itself. Повний текст джерелаStories of Plant Names : the Jardin médicinal by Antoine Mizauld is a PhD thesis in French literature and French language supervised by Fleur Vigneron.This thesis is part of a CIFRE agreement between the company Herboristerie Au temps des fées and the Imaginary Socio-Anthropology (ISA) component of the CNRS 5316 Litt&Arts research unit at the Grenoble Alpes University. The aims of this agreement are to carry out researches on the images of names of medicinal plants and to participate in the development of the brand Comme des tisanes, by Herboristerie Au Temps des fées.At first, our research works focus on the edition of the Jardin medicinal by Antoine Mizauld, a sixteenth century medical treatise explaining the properties of plants with mythical stories and entertaining anecdotes. These works are followed by glossaries pointing out the names of medicinal plants and practical definitions to better understand Antoine Mizauld's words. The second part is a commentary on the Jardin medicinal which analyses the position of the author and the formation of images of medicinal plants emphasizing the use of myths and current uses of plants in the wellness industry. The last part presents an analysis of seven medicinal plants (french designations, etymology, uses and myths), in order to study their archetypical traits and to establish their cultural history.Thanks to synchronic and diachronic approaches, this thesis presents a theory about the formation of images of medicinal plants in the French language. It also allows to implement an innovative protocol to create goods or services, by using researches in literature and methods of studying images

Avaliar as propriedades clinimétricas do Juvenile Arthritis Damage Index (JADI), e de seus componentes articular (JADI – A) e extra-articular (JADI – E), em diferentes subtipos de Artrite Idiopática Juvenil (AIJ), caracterizando-se os danos e estabelecendo-se a probabilidade de dano articular e extra-articular durante o curso da AIJ. Uma avaliação transversal foi realizada em uma série de casos de AIJ, entre 2006 e 2008. Os dados clínicos e demográficos, exame articular, pontuação do JADI-A e JADI-E, compilação do Childhood Health Assessment Questionnaire (CHAQ) e das escalas visuais analógicas para dor e bem-estar global pelos pais e pelo médico, classificação funcional de Steinbrocker e avaliação radiológica foram realizados durante uma visita ambulatorial. A avaliação longitudinal retrospectiva foi realizada da primeira até última visita ao serviço (1997 a 2008), observando-se as medidas de desfecho e tratamento. As propriedades de medida do JADI-A e JADI-E foram correlacionadas ao desfecho e a probabilidade de dano analisada por meio de curva de sobrevida com cálculo do risco de dano anual. Foram incluídos cento e um casos de AIJ, classificados como oligoarticular persistente (68,3%), artrite relacionada à entesite (8,9%), oligoarticular estendido (7,9%), poliarticular fator reumatóide (FR) + (5,0%), sistêmica (5,0%), poliarticular FR - (4,0%) e artrite psoriásica (1%), idade de início 7,1 anos (0,9 – 14,2) e duração da doença 2,7 anos (0,3 – 18,6), 66,3% em atividade, ANA + em 46,5% e HLA-B27 + em 5%. Noventa e oito porcento receberam AINH, 21,8% corticosteróides, 50,5% corticosteróide intra-articular, 39,6% DMARD e 10,9% agentes biológicos. Oitenta e três porcento não apresentavam incapacidade funcional pela classificação de Steinbrocker, e 53% pelo CHAQ. Foram observados dano articular em 45,5% e extra-articular nem 37,6% dos casos...

A retrospective longitudinal case-note revision was performed collecting data from the first to the last visit (1997 to 2008) for recording outcome measures and treatment. JADI-A and JADI-E measurement properties were correlated with outcome measures and the damage probability calculated by survival analysis alongside the damage risk calculated year by year. One hundred and one cases of JIA were included, classified as persistent oligoarthritis (68.3%), enthesitis-related arthritis (8.9%), extended oligoarthritis (7.9%), positive rheumatoid factor (RF) polyarthritis (5.0%), systemic arthritis (5.0%), negative RF polyarthritis (4.0%) and psoriatic arthritis (1.0%), age at onset 7.1 years (0.9 – 14.2), and disease duration 2.7 years (0.3 – 18.6), active disease in 66.3%, positive ANA in 46.5%, positive HLA-B27 in 5%. Ninety eight percent received NSAID, 21.8% corticosteroid, 50.5% intraarticular corticosteroid, 39.6% DMARD and 10.9% biologic agent.
