Повний текст джерелаDetta arbete är en undersökning om vad en Jailbreaking av iPhone OS kan tillföra för en vanlig användare och även de utökade möjligheterna för utvecklare. Det syftar till att ge en lätt överskådlig förklaring om hur jailbreaking fungerar och vilka fördelar och nackdelar som följer med det valet.
Det var ett personligt intresse för modifikation av operativsystem som gav grunden för valet av denna undersökning. Efter det egna införskaffandet av en iPhone 3Gs i slutet av 2009 utvecklades intresset för jailbreaking, något som successivt byggdes upp till en passion att vilja undersöka en iPhones fulla potential.
I rapporten kommer ett antal jämförelser att göras mellan ett native iPhone OS och ett Jailbreakat iPhone OS. Versionen är 3.1.3, vilken är den senaste stabila. Det presenteras viktiga paket som bevis för vad de extra funktioner som kan uppnås genom användandet av jailbreak. Det kommer även att beskrivas hur Jailbreak utförs. De paket som presenteras i arbetet kommer att vara de mest populära, funktionsrika och pålitliga utav de som finns tillgängliga inom jailbreak communityn.
Detta arbete resulterade i en redan förväntad bekräftelse att jailbreak har mycket att tillföra både normalanvändare för att utnyttja sin enhet med iPhone OS till sin fulla potential, men även för utvecklare som blivit nekade av Apple att få sälja sina produkter på AppStore eller helt enkelt bara vill utveckla utan Apples restriktioner och regler. Pengar finns absolut att tjäna genom Cydia Store eller liknade, vilket bevisas genom statistik och estimeringar.

It is the power of this research that proposes to address the new institutions that have become the giants of the CaC40 not by their financial power but by their power of thinking. One of the strong hypotheses observed after several years of professional experience in France and abroad in the field of research (Silicon Valley, Stanford University, University of California, University of California (UCLA)) and industry, is to defend that the industry thinks. Even before responding to the mission attributed to it, to produce, the industry composes and disseminates an ideology. The "classic" industries of the imaginary are amplified and metamorphosed with the high-tech industries of software, video games and the web, of which Apple is the paragon. Our subject then takes on a double dimension, theoretical and critical, but also industrialtechnical. It is not only a heuristic issue that drives it, but the desire to analyze a "terrain" of great relevance and high visibility. Another originality of this strategic work is to propose an applicable research method to question the industrial world. This work has made it possible to build a complex and rich corpus as well as to meet many strategic people in Silicon Valley including Apple co-founder Steven Wozniac, Daniel Kottke, Apple's first employee, Californian professors like Fred Turner and Designers-artists to question the most expensive company in the world, which holds as much wealth as dozens of states

Повний текст джерелаI dagens samhälle blir det allt vanligare med surfplattor som får oss att interagera med datorer på ett helt nytt sätt. Dessa används t.ex. för att läsa och skriva e-postmeddelanden, surfa på webben och spela spel. Ett annat användningssätt av dessa surfplattor är att läsa och editera PDF-dokument. PDF-hantering är ofta tänkt att användas i böcker och i vanliga textdokument men ett användningsområde som det också skulle kunna användas inom är ritningshantering. En bransch som skulle ha stor nytta av att använda surfplattor i just detta syfte är byggbranschen. Genom att skapa en applikation som inte bara fungerar som en vanlig PDF-läsare, utan även kan behandla ritningar genom att i dessa kunna göra annoteringar, synkronisera dessa mot en molntjänst och maila dessa ritningar till andra så skulle ritningshanteringen inom byggbranschen effektiviseras både tidsmässigt och ur ett kostnadsperspektiv. Detta examensarbete presenterar bl.a. planeringen, implementeringen, resultatet men även de utmaningar som framkom vid skapandet av en sådan prototyp. Med användning av objektorienterade analys och design principer, utförlig användning av testfall och implementering i Objective-C så har intressanta resultat framkommit. Denna rapport vänder sig, i huvudsak, till läsare med datavetenskapligt intresse eller bakgrund.

Повний текст джерелаThe purpose of the study was to investigate what opinions teachers at a school had about the iPad in teaching and how it affected students. This study used a combination of interviews and observations to access the data that was necessary. Semi-structured interviews with ten teachers were conducted and several observations were made during lesson time. The study was based on three themes: learning, distraction, and mood. The results showed that the teachers did agree that the iPad did distract the students but disagreed on questions about how the iPad affected students' learning and mood. Those who were in favor thought that the iPad, among other things, contributed to creativity and found it more difficult to see a connection between mental illness and the iPad. Other teachers considered that the iPad contributed to more students being isolated and that learning was hampered because the students did not have to make an effort as before to seek information. The results are discussed in the light of the iPad's being or non-being as a teaching aid in the classroom.

Повний текст джерелаThe qualitative study was designed to describe and understand the child's communication and interaction when using the iPad. Observations have been made on three different pre-schools that are actively using the iPad in their activity. The study has been based on the socio-cultural theory that children learn from each other in interaction. The results of the study have revealed that children interact as they sat several children around common iPad. It also emerged that an interaction occurs child - iPad when children on several occasions verbally communicated with the app. The communication around the iPad went by the governing child both verbally and nonverbally. The non-steer kids gave instructions to the governing child, which they saw on the screen if it was implemented. When verbal instructions were not carried out did the child a nonverbal action in the form of own actions. In the discussion, we compared the results of the study of theories and previous research. The use of the iPad in the educational activities and having a currently teacher are important for learning to happen. Interaction and communication emerged in the activity, but the educator's role is to challenge kids.

Повний текст джерелаThe Swedish National Agency for Education has recently published an updated version of the preschools curriculum containing new guidelines for how preschool teachers are expected to work with documentation, follow-up, evaluation and analysis. However, preschool teachers experience frustration due to challenges such as insufficient amount of time to work according to these guidelines while acting as both caretakers and teachers for the children. Dokufant is a digital web based tool facilitating documentation, follow-up, evaluation and analysis in preschool environments. It enables the teachers to document the pedagogical process and use the documentation as foundation for evaluation, follow-up and analysis. Although Dokufant resolves some of the issues causing the teachers' frustration, the solution does not fully address the time challenges perceived by teachers. This is where an application for iPad could come in handy. This thesis is a pilot study of how an application for iPad could be developed to help preschool teachers work with the curriculum guidelines in an even more efficient way. The goal was to develop a prototype, as a complement to the web based tool Dokufant, which focuses on fast creation of documentation. It was also to enable the children to help in the documentation process and thus be a part of their own learning. The findings of the thesis and the developed prototype application show that faster documentation is made possible thanks to the iPad hardware and the possibility to save material offline. A photograph can be taken with the iPad camera and will subsequently be saved to the Dokufant media library in an instant. If there is no internet connection when the photo is taken it will reside locally on the iPad until a connection is found. The same goes for documentation, which can be saved offline, and if they are not finished the teachers can continue to work with them later on the iPad or, after they have been uploaded, in the web tool on the computer. Unlike in the web tool, there are no settings to be made before starting documentation on the iPad. All settings can be set later which further accelerates the documentation process. Children are made part of the documentation process through their own profiles where information concerning them is gathered. When the material is visible to them it opens up the possibility for a discussion on what they want to be documented and what they are interested in learning more about. Also the children can take photos with the iPads' camera directly from the app and record sound connected to the photo to tell their thoughts on why the photo was taken and what it captures. This prototype, if developed into an iPad application, can help preschool teachers meet the demands of the curriculum without interfering with their job as caretakers and teachers for the children. it will not only speed up the documentation process, it will also encourage the children to play an active part of their own learning.

Повний текст джерелаThis essay will investigate if there appears to be a connection between reading comprehension and the subjective reading experience on the tablet iPad. It will try to determine if reading comprehension is better on the iPad or on paper, and if the participants own perception of the reading will reflect their comprehension when reading a shorter text. The hypothesis in the essay is that the participants assume that reading the traditional way on the paper is better than on the iPad, which may not be correct. It will moreover appraise if the participants experience from the iPad is correlated to their reading comprehension. The theory is assayed by letting the target group, media technology students, read two texts and answer related questions. One text is read on the iPad and the other on paper to evaluate the results. The texts are chosen from the Swedish Scholastic Aptitude. After the participants read the two texts an interview was held to examine the participant’s subjective perception of the reading. Results show that the participants own perception does not always correspond to their reading comprehension. The study came to the conclusion that it is not able to evaluate if there is a difference in reading comprehension between iPad and paper. No distinct connection was found between earlier iPad experience and better reading comprehension.

Повний текст джерелаNine teachers have been interviewed about their expectations before and experiences during a project where teachers and pupils will have access to iPads in class. The thesis approach is phenomenological. The purpose of the study is to investigate which impact the nine teachers who teach the pupils expect that the introduction of iPads will have on the daily work in the classroom. Further is the study investigating if, and if that is the case, how the teachers experience that their classroom work have changed since the pupils have got access to iPads in class for a couple of months. The research questions of the study are; “Which expectations do the teachers have on the introduction of iPads in the daily work in school?”, and “Which impact do the teachers experience that the iPad have to the teachers and pupils in the classroom?” The teachers experienced that with the iPad they could work in a way similar to the way the pupils are used to outside school. Pupils with learning problems were expected to be benefited. The teachers were worried that the pupils would lose focus from class. The teachers experienced need for further education and they were worried about technological problems. After a couple of months with iPads the teachers experienced that class activities had changed for the better. The pupils always brought their iPad in class and they worked more during breaks and at home. They took initiative to help each other and the teachers when technological problems occurred. The teachers experienced that the pupils easy access to e-books benefitted reading and the classroom became calmer. Pupils with learning problems benefitted when all study material where gathered in the iPad. There have been problems with integrating the schools learning portal with the iPad.

Повний текст джерелаThe purpose of this work was to accomplish the dosimetry of Enhanced Dynamic Wedge (EDW). It was carried out with two intents: 1) the evaluation of the clinical implementation of the EDW considering its advantages and disadvantages, and 2) the comparison among the efficiency and the better applicability of three different dosimetric systems in a set with the EDW. The dosimetric systems used were: the Beam Image System (BIS2G), from Scanditronix-Wellhöfer, a cylindrical ionization chamber of 0.6 cm3, type Farmer, and an ionization chamber linear detector array, composed by 23 cylindrical ionization chamber of 0.14 cm3, type Farmer. With the BIS2G was possible to plot graphs of fluence that allowed to analyze the symmetry of the graphs of fluence, linearity of the dose, dose rate effect, and gravity effect, features directly connected to the quality of the working of the EDW, further on having been possible to calculate the wedge factor for symmetric fields. With the ionization chamber it was measured the PDP and it was calculated the wedge factor for symmetric and asymmetric fields (one advantage of EDW). With the array it was possible to plot graphs of isodosis that allowed the checking of the symmetry and the comparison with the results obtained with the BIS2G, besides the calculation of the wedge factor for symmetric fields. The wedge factors obtained from the measurements of the three systems were also compared with the results of the formalisms, of Gibbons1 and of Klein et al 2, both well known if the literature, and that were used to validate the results and the work. From these comparisons was verified that the angles of the EDW that show more difference between the results and the formalisms were the 46º and 60º angles related to the method of Klein et al, which show differences of 2.12% related to BIS2G, 1.92% related to the ionization chamber, and 1.10% related to ionization chamber linear detector array.

Повний текст джерелаBackground Diabetes is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States. In 2012, 29.1 million people were estimated to have the condition, with type 2 diabetes accounting for 95% of all cases [1]. It is currently one of the most costly conditions in the country [2] and forecasts as a heavier burden for the U.S. with the prevalence expected to significantly increase [3]. For those who live with the disease, it is possible to manage diabetes in order to prevent or delay the onset of complications [4]. However the self-management regimen is complex and impacts nearly every important aspect of one's life [5].
The ubiquitous nature of mobile technologies and powerful capabilities of smartphones and tablets has led to a significant increased interest in the development and use of mobile health. Diabetes management is an application area where mobile devices could enhance the quality of life for people living with chronic illnesses [6]–[8], and usability is key to the adoption of such technologies [9], [10]. Past work has evaluated the usability of diabetes management apps for Android, iOS and Blackberry smartphones [11]-[14] despite the fact that no established method to evaluate the usability of mobile apps has emerged [15]. To our knowledge, this study is the first to evaluate the usability of diabetes management apps on iPad.
Methods This study introduces a novel usability survey that is designed for mHealth and specific to the iOS operating system. The survey is built on previous usability findings [11]–[14], Nielsen heuristics [16] and the Apple iOS Human Interface Guidelines [17]. The new instrument was evaluated with three evaluators assessing ten iPad apps, selected because they were the most popular diabetes management apps on the Apple AppStore. A focus group was subsequently held to gather more insight on the usability of the apps and the survey itself. Statistical analysis using R and grounded theory were used to analyze the quantitative and qualitative results, respectively.
Results The survey identified OneTouch Reveal by LifeScan Inc. and TactioHealth by Tactic, Health Group as the most usable apps. GlucoMo by Artificial Life, Inc. and Diabetes in Check by Everyday Health, Inc. rated as the least usable apps. Setting up medication and editing blood glucose were the most problematic tasks. Some apps did not support all functions that were under review. Six main themes emerged from the focus group: the presentation of health information, aesthetic and minimalist design, flexibility and efficiency of data input, task feedback, intuitive design and app stability. These themes suggest important constructs of usability for mHealth apps.
Discussion and Conclusion Mobile health developers and researchers should focus on the tasks, heuristics and underlying issues that were identified as most problematic throughout the study. Additionally, research should further inquire on the potentially critical relation between the information available on app markets and the usability of apps. Several signs point to the potential of the usability survey that was developed but further adjustments and additional test iterations are warranted to validate its use as a reliable usability evaluation method.

Повний текст джерелаMy dissertation examines changes in audience sensemaking by the public and media about Apple’s novel product, iPad. My study begins on December 28, 2009, one-month before the introduction of the iPad by Apple and ends with the anniversary of its retail availability on April 2, 2011, shortly after the launch of the second-generation iPad. Using primarily qualitative methods, I analyze archival data including online forums and news articles to understand audience sensemaking as it unfolds. I investigate how sensemaking by the two audiences a) changes over time, b) changes with different types of material interaction with the product, c) incorporates the use of functional and symbolic frames in their public discourse about the iPad, and d) changes based on the public role of the audience. In doing so, I advance explanations as to how meanings about novel products stabilize. More broadly, I elaborate how nascent product categories can emerge by focusing on the cultural-cognitive processes that undergird product classification systems. As a result, I offer novel pathways for product category emergence

Com o escopo de fornecer subsídios para compreender como o processo de colaboração científica ocorre e se desenvolve em uma instituição de pesquisas, particularmente o IPEN, o trabalho utilizou duas abordagens metodológicas. A primeira utilizou a técnica de análise de redes sociais (ARS) para mapear as redes de colaboração científica em P&D do IPEN. Os dados utilizados na ARS foram extraídos da base de dados digitais de publicações técnico-científicas do IPEN, com o auxílio de um programa computacional, e basearam-se em coautoria compreendendo o período de 2001 a 2010. Esses dados foram agrupados em intervalos consecutivos de dois anos gerando cinco redes bienais. Essa primeira abordagem revelou várias características estruturais relacionadas às redes de colaboração, destacando-se os autores mais proeminentes, distribuição dos componentes, densidade, boundary spanners e aspectos relacionados à distância e agrupamento para definir um estado de redes mundo pequeno (small world). A segunda utilizou o método dos mínimos quadrados parciais, uma variante da técnica de modelagem por equações estruturais, para avaliar e testar um modelo conceitual, apoiado em fatores pessoais, sociais, culturais e circunstanciais, para identificar aqueles que melhor explicam a propensão de um autor do IPEN em estabelecer vínculos de colaboração em ambientes de P&D. A partir do modelo consolidado, avaliou-se o quanto ele explica a posição estrutural que um autor ocupa na rede com base em indicadores de ARS. Nesta segunda parte, os dados foram coletados por meio de uma pesquisa de levantamento com a utilização de um questionário. Os resultados mostraram que o modelo explica aproximadamente 41% da propensão de um autor do IPEN em colaborar com outros autores e em relação à posição estrutural de um autor na rede o poder de explicação variou entre 3% e 3,6%. Outros resultados mostraram que a colaboração entre autores do IPEN tem uma correlação positiva com intensidade moderada com a produtividade, da mesma forma que, os autores mais centrais na rede tendem a ampliar a sua visibilidade. Por fim, vários outros indicadores estatísticos bibliométricos referentes à rede de colaboração em P&D do IPEN foram determinados e revelados, como, a média de autores por publicação, média de publicações por autores do IPEN, total de publicações, total de autores e não autores do IPEN, entre outros. Com isso, esse trabalho fornece uma contribuição teórica e empírica aos estudos relacionados à colaboração científica e ao processo de transferência e preservação de conhecimento, assim como, vários subsídios que contribuem para o contexto de tomada de decisão em ambientes de P&D.

Повний текст джерелаWith the aim of providing subsidies to understand how scientific collaboration process occurs and develops into a research institution, particularly IPEN, this study used two methodological approaches. The first used the social networking analysis (SNA) technique to map the scientific collaboration networks in R&D of IPEN. The data used for the SNA technique were extracted from the technical and scientific publications database of IPEN, using a computer program, and were based on co-authorship from 2001 to 2010 period. These data were grouped into consecutive intervals of two years generating five biennial networks. This first approach showed several structural features related to collaborative networks, especially the most prominent authors, distribution of components, density, boundary spanners and aspects related to distance and clustering to define small world networks. In the second approach, partial least squares, a method to structure equation modeling, was used to evaluate and test a conceptual model based on personal, social, cultural and circumstantial factors to identify those that best explain the propensity of an IPENs author in establishing links of collaboration in R&D environments. From the consolidated model, we evaluated how much it explains the structural position of an author on the network based on SNA indicators. In this second part, the data were collected through a survey research using a questionnaire. The results showed that the model explains about 41% of the propensity of an IPEN author in collaborating with others authors, and in relation to the structural position of an author on the network, the explanation power of model ranged between 3% and 3.6%. Other results have shown that collaboration between IPEN authors have a positive correlation with moderate intensity to productivity, in the same way, the most central authors in the network tend to increase its visibility. Finally, several other bibliometric statistical indicators related to R&D collaboration network of IPEN were determined and unveiled, such as the average number of authors per publication, the average of publications by IPEN authors, the total number of publications, the total number of authors, among others. Thus, this work provides a theoretical and empirical contribution to the studies related to scientific collaboration and to the transfer and preservation process of knowledge, as well as various subsidies that contribute to the decision making context in R&D environments.

Повний текст джерелаI dagens samhälle har etableringen av ny pekskärmsteknik betydligt ändrat vårt sätt att navigera på internet. Kravet på att utforma webbplatser som skall anpassas till olika artefakter så som pekskärmsdatorer blir allt mer ett behov att ta hänsyn till. Syftet med denna studie är att upptäcka ”Vilka särskilda användbarhetskrav bör ställas vid utformning av webbplatser för pekskärmsdatorer?” För att undersöka uppsatsens frågeställning presenteras en studie där fem personer besöker tre webbplatser på pekskärmsdatorn Ipad. Studien genomfördes med hjälp av en deltagande och strukturerad observationsintervju i form av en tänk-högt-metod. Med hjälp av videoutrustning samlades informationen in. Respondenternas samtal presenterades och studiens resultat analyserades med en kvalitativ procedur. Forskningen bidrog framförallt med information om att individualisera de möjliga användbarhetsproblem som finns vid interaktion med webbplatser på pekskärmsdatorn Ipad. Utifrån analysen och den kvalitativa underökningen har det kommit fram användbarhetskrav som rör aspekter inom webbplatsens navigering, interaktion och återkoppling.
