Повний текст джерелаEsta tese teve como ponto de partida pensar a imigração enquanto desorganizador e reorganizador social buscando identificar aspectos fundantes na construção/manutenção das representações identitárias dos interlocutores (imigrantes brasileiros pentecostais), quais marcas fundamentais que o caracterizariam e verificar a existência de um pensamento inclusivo ou exclusivo. Ainda, considerando-se que meios diferentes, ou ‗ecologias culturais diversas‘ forçam adaptações diferentes, analisar o papel da igreja IPDA – Igreja Pentecostal Deus é Amor, nas estratégias de desterritorialização e territorialização dos imigrantes brasileiros em Portugal e na Inglaterra. O trabalho de pesquisa foi realizado de Maio/2006 a Dezembro/2009 entre Brasil e Portugal e trabalhou-se com um universo de 1.200 membros fixos na IPDA portuguesa, cerca de 5000 membros cadastrados na IPDA brasileira e cerca de 50 membros na Inglaterra Observou-se que mesmo após quarenta e nove anos de existência e contacto com diferentes culturas em mais de cento e trinta países a IPDA conserva inalteradas as doutrinas prescritas pelo fundador mantendo-se no nicho do mercado religioso onde foi fundada e tornando-se líder. Na prática a IPDA só mantem-se e permanece em funcionamento graças a sua estratégia de combinar uma ‗doutrina rígida‘ com ‗santificação‘. Dessa combinação resultou um estilo pentecostal próprio que expressa o ajustamento da igreja frente a novas situações do panorama pentecostal demonstrando, assim, a capacidade de resistência da IPDA ante a situação de contacto, e capacidade de reorganizar seus códigos culturais para enfrentar os desafios do quotidiano. A identidade pentecostal do grupo em questão pode ser considerada como um produto de uma matriz originada em um local distante – nos Estados Unidos – e marca de um grupo pentecostal específico que, ao ser fundado no Brasil, procurou elevar ao maximo denominador comum suas crenças e valores. Ao transpor essa identidade para o espaço da imigração brasileira, em Portugal, mais uma vez o grupo decidiu realçar suas diferenças para fazer-se notar frente aos ‗outros‘ brasileiros e ‗outros‘ pentecostais ali existentes. Dentro da proposta inicial desta tese, conclui-se que a IPDA fornece os meios de sustentar a continuidade cultural, apesar do deslocamento geográfico, e de manter a membrasia em novos contextos através da repetição de suas performances. A IPDA encontrou seu ‗lugar‘ e desempenha um papel importante na manutenção e reprodução das representações identitárias entre os imigrantes brasileiros pentecostais e as sociedades receptoras. Pode-se dizer que as representações e performances pentecostais permitem a difusão dessa identidade religiosa brasileira. As representações das identidades colectivas, entre elas a pentecostal, estabelecem pontes simbólicas utilizadas como peças axiais pelos indivíduos para inserirem-se na comunidade receptora. Importa ainda observar as diversas formas pelas quais a representação da identidade pentecostal contribui para a manutenção/reconfiguração dessa comunidade brasileira/pentecostal imaginada. A ‗identidade‘ dessa comunidade imaginada que está baseada nas performances pentecostais dos imigrantes brasileiros alcança a todos os cidadãos brasileiros dentro e fora do país, mesmo aqueles que não proferem nenhuma fé. Entretanto, essa identidade pode alcançar de forma negativa os brasileiros ou os habitantes não identificados com as práticas do pentecostalismo, uma vez que acabam excluídos da comunidade que, de certa forma, desprestigia outras culturas.

Повний текст джерелаCerca de 80% da informação que o ser humano recebe é através da visão. Para pessoas cegas e com perda de visão severa a mais simples atividade do dia-a-dia pode tornar-se num desafio. A identificação de produtos é um problema comum para estas pessoas, principalmente produtos alimentares, sempre que a pessoa necessita de ir às compras, na despensa em casa ou em cada refeição do dia em que é necessário cozinhar. Para ajudar a população portadora de deficiência visual, a enfrentar este problema, esta dissertação tem como objeto de estudo o desenvolvimento de um equipamento/dispositivo que resolva este obstáculo de maneira a dar-lhe mais autonomia. Durante o desenvolvimento deste estudo foi importante salientar temas como o “Design Inclusivo”, o “Interação Produto/ Utilizador”, “Deficiência Visual” e a “Identificação de produtos”. Em termos metodológicos foi realizada, nesta dissertação, uma investigação de natureza mista assente em métodos intervencionistas e não-intervencionistas. Elaborou-se uma revisão da literatura, com o objetivo de reunir as bases teóricas das áreas de estudo; recorreu- se a uma análise de casos de estudo; fez-se um levantamento dos dispositivos existentes no mercado recorrendo a um estudo de casos; foram realizadas conversas informais, mas essenciais ao desenvolvimento do projeto e ainda se concretizou uma entrevista exploratória com um grupo de amostragem. Aplicando ainda uma metodologia não-intervencionista, foram feitos inquéritos por entrevista ao grupo de amostragem, colaborador e especialista, com o intuito de perceber que alterações seriam necessárias para a evolução do projeto. Simultaneamente, e numa vertente mais prática de investigação ativa, foram criados diversos modelos-teste do dispositivo, em que o último modelo, mais próximo daquilo que seria o dispositivo na realidade, foi utilizado para a realização de uma avaliação e simulação da utilização do mesmo, com o grupo de amostragem. Deste modo, espera-se que este processo de investigação permita mostrar a importância de uma melhor maneira de identificar produtos alimentares que facilite a rotina diária das pessoas portadoras de de ciência visual, melhorando consequentemente a sua qualidade de vida.
ABSTRACT: About 80% of the information that the human being receives is through vision. For blind people and with severe vision loss, the simplest day-today activity can become a challenge. Product identification is a common problem for these people, especially food products, whenever they need to go shopping, in the pantry at home or at each meal of the day when it is necessary to cook. To help the population with visual imparment dealing with this problem, this dissertation has as object of study, the development of an equipment/device that can solve this problem in order to give more autonomy. During the development of this study it was important to highlight themes such as “Inclusive Design”, “Product-User Interaction”, “Visual Impairment” and “Product Identification”. In methodological terms it was made, in this dissertation, a mixed nature investigation with interventionist and non-interventionist methods. A review of the literature was made, aiming to gather the theoretical bases of the study areas; It was made an analysis of study cases; a survey of the existing devices on the market was done using case studies; informal conversations were carried out, but they were essential to the development of the Project, it was also done an exploratory interview with a sampling group. Applying a non- interventionist methodology, were elaborated surveys by interview to the sampling group, a collaborator and a specialist, in order to understand what changes would be necessary for the evolution of the project. Simultaneously, and in a more practical eld of active investigation, several test models of the device were created, in which the last one, closer to what the device would actually be, was used to carry out an evaluation and simulation of its use, with the sampling group. Therefore, is expected that this process of investigation shows the importance of a better way to identify food products that facilitates the daily routine of blind or visually impaired people, giving them the desired autonomy.

Повний текст джерелаI dagens samhälle blir det allt vanligare med surfplattor som får oss att interagera med datorer på ett helt nytt sätt. Dessa används t.ex. för att läsa och skriva e-postmeddelanden, surfa på webben och spela spel. Ett annat användningssätt av dessa surfplattor är att läsa och editera PDF-dokument. PDF-hantering är ofta tänkt att användas i böcker och i vanliga textdokument men ett användningsområde som det också skulle kunna användas inom är ritningshantering. En bransch som skulle ha stor nytta av att använda surfplattor i just detta syfte är byggbranschen. Genom att skapa en applikation som inte bara fungerar som en vanlig PDF-läsare, utan även kan behandla ritningar genom att i dessa kunna göra annoteringar, synkronisera dessa mot en molntjänst och maila dessa ritningar till andra så skulle ritningshanteringen inom byggbranschen effektiviseras både tidsmässigt och ur ett kostnadsperspektiv. Detta examensarbete presenterar bl.a. planeringen, implementeringen, resultatet men även de utmaningar som framkom vid skapandet av en sådan prototyp. Med användning av objektorienterade analys och design principer, utförlig användning av testfall och implementering i Objective-C så har intressanta resultat framkommit. Denna rapport vänder sig, i huvudsak, till läsare med datavetenskapligt intresse eller bakgrund.

Повний текст джерелаThe purpose of the study was to investigate what opinions teachers at a school had about the iPad in teaching and how it affected students. This study used a combination of interviews and observations to access the data that was necessary. Semi-structured interviews with ten teachers were conducted and several observations were made during lesson time. The study was based on three themes: learning, distraction, and mood. The results showed that the teachers did agree that the iPad did distract the students but disagreed on questions about how the iPad affected students' learning and mood. Those who were in favor thought that the iPad, among other things, contributed to creativity and found it more difficult to see a connection between mental illness and the iPad. Other teachers considered that the iPad contributed to more students being isolated and that learning was hampered because the students did not have to make an effort as before to seek information. The results are discussed in the light of the iPad's being or non-being as a teaching aid in the classroom.

Повний текст джерелаThe qualitative study was designed to describe and understand the child's communication and interaction when using the iPad. Observations have been made on three different pre-schools that are actively using the iPad in their activity. The study has been based on the socio-cultural theory that children learn from each other in interaction. The results of the study have revealed that children interact as they sat several children around common iPad. It also emerged that an interaction occurs child - iPad when children on several occasions verbally communicated with the app. The communication around the iPad went by the governing child both verbally and nonverbally. The non-steer kids gave instructions to the governing child, which they saw on the screen if it was implemented. When verbal instructions were not carried out did the child a nonverbal action in the form of own actions. In the discussion, we compared the results of the study of theories and previous research. The use of the iPad in the educational activities and having a currently teacher are important for learning to happen. Interaction and communication emerged in the activity, but the educator's role is to challenge kids.

Повний текст джерелаNine teachers have been interviewed about their expectations before and experiences during a project where teachers and pupils will have access to iPads in class. The thesis approach is phenomenological. The purpose of the study is to investigate which impact the nine teachers who teach the pupils expect that the introduction of iPads will have on the daily work in the classroom. Further is the study investigating if, and if that is the case, how the teachers experience that their classroom work have changed since the pupils have got access to iPads in class for a couple of months. The research questions of the study are; “Which expectations do the teachers have on the introduction of iPads in the daily work in school?”, and “Which impact do the teachers experience that the iPad have to the teachers and pupils in the classroom?” The teachers experienced that with the iPad they could work in a way similar to the way the pupils are used to outside school. Pupils with learning problems were expected to be benefited. The teachers were worried that the pupils would lose focus from class. The teachers experienced need for further education and they were worried about technological problems. After a couple of months with iPads the teachers experienced that class activities had changed for the better. The pupils always brought their iPad in class and they worked more during breaks and at home. They took initiative to help each other and the teachers when technological problems occurred. The teachers experienced that the pupils easy access to e-books benefitted reading and the classroom became calmer. Pupils with learning problems benefitted when all study material where gathered in the iPad. There have been problems with integrating the schools learning portal with the iPad.

Повний текст джерелаThe Swedish National Agency for Education has recently published an updated version of the preschools curriculum containing new guidelines for how preschool teachers are expected to work with documentation, follow-up, evaluation and analysis. However, preschool teachers experience frustration due to challenges such as insufficient amount of time to work according to these guidelines while acting as both caretakers and teachers for the children. Dokufant is a digital web based tool facilitating documentation, follow-up, evaluation and analysis in preschool environments. It enables the teachers to document the pedagogical process and use the documentation as foundation for evaluation, follow-up and analysis. Although Dokufant resolves some of the issues causing the teachers' frustration, the solution does not fully address the time challenges perceived by teachers. This is where an application for iPad could come in handy. This thesis is a pilot study of how an application for iPad could be developed to help preschool teachers work with the curriculum guidelines in an even more efficient way. The goal was to develop a prototype, as a complement to the web based tool Dokufant, which focuses on fast creation of documentation. It was also to enable the children to help in the documentation process and thus be a part of their own learning. The findings of the thesis and the developed prototype application show that faster documentation is made possible thanks to the iPad hardware and the possibility to save material offline. A photograph can be taken with the iPad camera and will subsequently be saved to the Dokufant media library in an instant. If there is no internet connection when the photo is taken it will reside locally on the iPad until a connection is found. The same goes for documentation, which can be saved offline, and if they are not finished the teachers can continue to work with them later on the iPad or, after they have been uploaded, in the web tool on the computer. Unlike in the web tool, there are no settings to be made before starting documentation on the iPad. All settings can be set later which further accelerates the documentation process. Children are made part of the documentation process through their own profiles where information concerning them is gathered. When the material is visible to them it opens up the possibility for a discussion on what they want to be documented and what they are interested in learning more about. Also the children can take photos with the iPads' camera directly from the app and record sound connected to the photo to tell their thoughts on why the photo was taken and what it captures. This prototype, if developed into an iPad application, can help preschool teachers meet the demands of the curriculum without interfering with their job as caretakers and teachers for the children. it will not only speed up the documentation process, it will also encourage the children to play an active part of their own learning.

Повний текст джерелаThis essay will investigate if there appears to be a connection between reading comprehension and the subjective reading experience on the tablet iPad. It will try to determine if reading comprehension is better on the iPad or on paper, and if the participants own perception of the reading will reflect their comprehension when reading a shorter text. The hypothesis in the essay is that the participants assume that reading the traditional way on the paper is better than on the iPad, which may not be correct. It will moreover appraise if the participants experience from the iPad is correlated to their reading comprehension. The theory is assayed by letting the target group, media technology students, read two texts and answer related questions. One text is read on the iPad and the other on paper to evaluate the results. The texts are chosen from the Swedish Scholastic Aptitude. After the participants read the two texts an interview was held to examine the participant’s subjective perception of the reading. Results show that the participants own perception does not always correspond to their reading comprehension. The study came to the conclusion that it is not able to evaluate if there is a difference in reading comprehension between iPad and paper. No distinct connection was found between earlier iPad experience and better reading comprehension.

Повний текст джерелаBackground Diabetes is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States. In 2012, 29.1 million people were estimated to have the condition, with type 2 diabetes accounting for 95% of all cases [1]. It is currently one of the most costly conditions in the country [2] and forecasts as a heavier burden for the U.S. with the prevalence expected to significantly increase [3]. For those who live with the disease, it is possible to manage diabetes in order to prevent or delay the onset of complications [4]. However the self-management regimen is complex and impacts nearly every important aspect of one's life [5].
The ubiquitous nature of mobile technologies and powerful capabilities of smartphones and tablets has led to a significant increased interest in the development and use of mobile health. Diabetes management is an application area where mobile devices could enhance the quality of life for people living with chronic illnesses [6]–[8], and usability is key to the adoption of such technologies [9], [10]. Past work has evaluated the usability of diabetes management apps for Android, iOS and Blackberry smartphones [11]-[14] despite the fact that no established method to evaluate the usability of mobile apps has emerged [15]. To our knowledge, this study is the first to evaluate the usability of diabetes management apps on iPad.
Methods This study introduces a novel usability survey that is designed for mHealth and specific to the iOS operating system. The survey is built on previous usability findings [11]–[14], Nielsen heuristics [16] and the Apple iOS Human Interface Guidelines [17]. The new instrument was evaluated with three evaluators assessing ten iPad apps, selected because they were the most popular diabetes management apps on the Apple AppStore. A focus group was subsequently held to gather more insight on the usability of the apps and the survey itself. Statistical analysis using R and grounded theory were used to analyze the quantitative and qualitative results, respectively.
Results The survey identified OneTouch Reveal by LifeScan Inc. and TactioHealth by Tactic, Health Group as the most usable apps. GlucoMo by Artificial Life, Inc. and Diabetes in Check by Everyday Health, Inc. rated as the least usable apps. Setting up medication and editing blood glucose were the most problematic tasks. Some apps did not support all functions that were under review. Six main themes emerged from the focus group: the presentation of health information, aesthetic and minimalist design, flexibility and efficiency of data input, task feedback, intuitive design and app stability. These themes suggest important constructs of usability for mHealth apps.
Discussion and Conclusion Mobile health developers and researchers should focus on the tasks, heuristics and underlying issues that were identified as most problematic throughout the study. Additionally, research should further inquire on the potentially critical relation between the information available on app markets and the usability of apps. Several signs point to the potential of the usability survey that was developed but further adjustments and additional test iterations are warranted to validate its use as a reliable usability evaluation method.

Повний текст джерелаMy dissertation examines changes in audience sensemaking by the public and media about Apple’s novel product, iPad. My study begins on December 28, 2009, one-month before the introduction of the iPad by Apple and ends with the anniversary of its retail availability on April 2, 2011, shortly after the launch of the second-generation iPad. Using primarily qualitative methods, I analyze archival data including online forums and news articles to understand audience sensemaking as it unfolds. I investigate how sensemaking by the two audiences a) changes over time, b) changes with different types of material interaction with the product, c) incorporates the use of functional and symbolic frames in their public discourse about the iPad, and d) changes based on the public role of the audience. In doing so, I advance explanations as to how meanings about novel products stabilize. More broadly, I elaborate how nascent product categories can emerge by focusing on the cultural-cognitive processes that undergird product classification systems. As a result, I offer novel pathways for product category emergence

Повний текст джерелаThis study investigated the experience of the Swedish certification process at the Swedish Project Management Association, and whether the certification contributed to an increased competence and an additional value of the individuals who have certified themselves. The research was designed to bring a broader insight into the value of individuals through certification, as well as to provide the Swedish Project Management Association with tools for improving the Swedish certification process. A qualitative content analysis with a summative approach was used and conducted through 11 semi-structured interviews conducted with IPMA-certified (International Project Management Association) project managers, selected from the Swedish Project Management Association databases. Based on the topic concerned, the following questions emerged from the analysis: How do IPMA-certified project managers describe their potential skills enhancement with the certification? And what value do they assign to an IPMA-certification? The results demonstrated that participants experienced competence enhancement and an additional value through IPMA-certification. Additionally, findings identified a gap in previous research pertaining to reflection and assessment.

Повний текст джерелаThe Tax on Motor Vehicles (property taxes) in the last ten years has shown significant growth, driven by economic and fiscal policies that encouraged increased consumption of vehicles. The property taxes rank second in volume of tax collections for the state, has an important role in the funding of municipal and state machine, the reason that led the preparation of this work. The government to dispose of forecasting models can evaluate the behavior of this important tax revenue as a way to identify which model that best suits in anticipation of this recipe. This study is a pioneer in Brazil, as evaluates the predictive performance of collection of property taxes from new vehicle, with the use of autoregressive models, with and without seasonal components. The records of the collection of property taxes from new vehicle has been taken from System property taxes, the Finance Secretary of the State of CearÃ, and set the period from January 1999 to March 2010, a total of 135 (one hundred thirty-five) months. The models are evaluated on the bases for forecasts in periods of high inflow (January to March) and the low period of collection (May-July). The series was deflated by the INPC-CE to ideentify the real changes positive or negative, without inflation. Seasonality is a major feature in the series studied. The performance of the forecasts from combinations of these models will also be evaluated. The model was composed of six (6) models, plus variables for trend, seasonal dummies and component SAR (12), 3 (three) other models combined.

Повний текст джерелаAmong the mechanisms related to the bacterium-plant interaction, the bacterial biosynthesis of indole acetic acid (AIA) plays a fundamental role in the promotion of plant growth, since it is capable of influencing innumerable physiological processes in plants. Different metabolic pathways are used by bacteria for the biosynthesis of IAA, with the indole-3-pyruvic acid (IPyA) pathway being the most commonly described. In this pathway, the indole-3-pyruvate decarboxylase (ipdC) gene has a vital role in the production of IAA using the amino acid L-tryptophan as a precursor. In this context, molecular studies about the metabolic pathways and the genes involved in this process are preponderant for the understanding of the interrelationship of the regulatory pathways with the phytormonium synthesis. The rhizobacterium Bacillus sp. (RZ2MS9) has been showing satisfactory activity in promoting plant growth. The sequencing of its genome pointed to the presence of a wide range of genes related to growth promotion, especially genes encoding auxins. Thus, the objective of the present study was to verify the function of the ipdC gene in the IAA biosynthesis L-tryptophan dependent through the knockout of the ipdC in the plant growth-promoting rhizobateria (PGPR) Bacillus sp. (RZ2MS9). Therefore, the knockout was realized using the CRISPR-Cas9. The knockout of the ipdC gene was efficient, generating disruptive mutants for the said gene. IAA biosynthesis by the ΔipdC strain showed reductions in phytormonium concentrations, according to the growth time, being 87.96% in 24 hours, 88.25% in 48 hours and 58.27% in 72 hours of growth compared to the Wild Type (WT). In addition, the biosynthesis of IAA in the absence of the amino acid L-tryptophan was also evaluated, with no phytormonium synthesis being observed at any growth time, both in the wild type and ΔipdC strain. The present study pioneered the knockout of the ipdC gene in a Bacillus strain using the CRISPR-Cas9. The results obtained contribute to a better understanding of the influence of the ipdC gene and the IPyA pathway in the IAA biosynthesis through the RZ2MS9 strain, and its role in plant growth promoting will be demonstrated in the future.

Повний текст джерелаI dagens samhälle har etableringen av ny pekskärmsteknik betydligt ändrat vårt sätt att navigera på internet. Kravet på att utforma webbplatser som skall anpassas till olika artefakter så som pekskärmsdatorer blir allt mer ett behov att ta hänsyn till. Syftet med denna studie är att upptäcka ”Vilka särskilda användbarhetskrav bör ställas vid utformning av webbplatser för pekskärmsdatorer?” För att undersöka uppsatsens frågeställning presenteras en studie där fem personer besöker tre webbplatser på pekskärmsdatorn Ipad. Studien genomfördes med hjälp av en deltagande och strukturerad observationsintervju i form av en tänk-högt-metod. Med hjälp av videoutrustning samlades informationen in. Respondenternas samtal presenterades och studiens resultat analyserades med en kvalitativ procedur. Forskningen bidrog framförallt med information om att individualisera de möjliga användbarhetsproblem som finns vid interaktion med webbplatser på pekskärmsdatorn Ipad. Utifrån analysen och den kvalitativa underökningen har det kommit fram användbarhetskrav som rör aspekter inom webbplatsens navigering, interaktion och återkoppling.
