The COVID-19 pandemic has forced institutions worldwide shifting to fully online learning along with the campus shut down to avoid the spread of virus in year 2021. Considering the necessity of distance education during the pandemic, the Internet of Thing (IoT) and technology play an important role in keeping all connected. In this study, the usability and adoption of Microsoft OneNote class notebook via MS Teams are presented. In view of mathematics classes require a lot of annotation and demonstration of calculation solutions, OneNote class notebook via MS Teams is adopted due to its built-in content library space and collaboration space which act as the digital whiteboard for teachers and students. Besides, OneNote class notebook is able to provide a real-time synchronized space for all the mathematical works. The convenience, usefulness and real-time features of OneNote class notebook via MS Teams make it a powerful tool and as a substitute for the traditional classroom. The chat history and work done in the collaboration space during the break-out room sessions via MS Teams offer the students space to recall and retrieve what has been learned in the class. The COVID-19 crisis provides us an opportunity to blend in the component of IoT in education such as live and collaborative platforms in OneNote class notebook to complement both face-to-face and online education.

Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) is a connectivity protocol between machines or now better known as the Internet of Things (IoT). This protocol recognizes two basic functions of M2M communication, namely publish and subscribe (pub/sub). The MQTT protocol is designed as a very simple and very lightweight message delivery protocol, designed for devices that are limited and with low bandwidth capacity, high latency or on an unreliable network. The design principles are to minimize bandwidth requirements and device resource requirements, and keep trying to ensure reliability and guaranteed delivery rates. In this paper, VerneMQ performance reliability is tested - one of the MQTT brokers, with several stressing levels using ESP-32 as a publisher and notebook with the python application as a subscriber.

Currently, mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets are widespread within the student community. However, their potential to be used in classrooms is yet to be fully explored. Our work proposes an approach that benefits from the ease of access to mobile devices, and combines it with state-of-the-art software and hardware. This approach builds upon previous developments from our team on biosignal acquisition and analysis, and is designed towards the enrichment of the teaching experience for students, namely in what concerns laboratory activities in the field of biomedical engineering. The implementation of such methodology aims at involving students more actively in the learning process, using case studies and emerging educational approaches such as project-based, active and research-based learning. It also provides an effective option for remote teaching, as recently required by the COVID-19 outbreak. In our approach (ScientIST) we explore the use of the Arduino MKR WIFI 1010, a variant of the popular electronic platform, recently launched for prototyping Internet of Things (IoT) applications, and the Google Science Journal (GSJ), a digital notebook created by Google, to support laboratory activities using mobile devices. This approach has shown promising results in two case studies, namely, documenting a Histology laboratory class and a Photoplethysmography (PPG) data acquisition and processing experiment. The System Usability Scale (SUS) was used in the evaluation of the students’ experience, revealing an overall score of 78.68%.

In recent years, the interest in the Internet of Things (IoT) has been growing because this technology bridges the gap between the physical and virtual world, by connecting different objects and people through communication networks, in order to improve the quality of life. New IoT wearable devices require new types of antennas with unique shapes, made on unconventional substrates, which can be unobtrusively integrated into clothes and accessories. In this paper, we propose a fully textile dual-band logo antenna integrated with a reflector for application in IoT wearable devices. The proposed antenna’s radiating elements have been shaped to mimic the logo of South-West University “Neofit Rilski” for an unobtrusive integration in accessories. A reflector has been mounted on the opposite side of the textile substrate to reduce the radiation from the wearable antenna and improve its robustness against the loading effect from nearby objects. Two antenna prototypes were fabricated and tested in free space as well as on three different objects (human body, notebook, and laptop). Moreover, in the two frequency ranges of interest a radiation efficiency of 25–38% and 62–90% was achieved. Moreover, due to the reflector, the maximum local specific-absorption rate, which averaged over 10 g mass in the human-body phantom, was found to be equal to 0.5182 W/kg at 2.4 GHz and 0.16379 W/kg at 5.47 GHz. Additionally, the results from the performed measurement-campaign collecting received the signal-strength indicator and packet loss for an off-body scenario in real-world use, demonstrating that the backpack-integrated antenna prototype can form high-quality off-body communication channels.

This study proposes a smart irrigation system (SIS) using the drip method, which was designed and implemented using wireless sensor networks and an open-source Internet of Things (IoT) cloud computing platform (“Thingspeak.com”) for data collection, storing, data analytics, and visualization. The methodology incorporates the integration of hardware and software components to make irrigation decisions based on web resources like the weather forecast from “weather.com” and sensor values from soil samples. The data collected are then analyzed at the edge server and updated every 15 minutes. Based on the threshold value, the system starts pumping water or stops the irrigation process depending on the irrigation schedule. A web application was developed to display the result so that we could monitor and control the system using an android application edge or a web browser. Based on the data recorded and measured, the data are in comma-separated values (CSV) format and contain 143731 entries with 10 columns. The sample size used contains 5722 rows and 6 columns from the result of our machine learning algorithms using Microsoft Excel and Jupyter Notebook to process and evaluate the performance of the drip SIS, considering the soil moisture, soil temperature, sunlight, rain, and pump. The results confirm the threshold metrics classification evaluation, and some of the metrics computed from our confusion matrix are shown in the classification summary results, showing the accuracy to be 89%, the misclassification rate (error rate) is equal to 10%, the sensitivity is equal to 79%, the specificity is equal to 93%, and the precision of the model is 81%. The evaluation, when compared to K-nearest neighbours using K = 6 and K = 1, shows the prediction accuracy to be 97% and 98%. The results indicate the system is highly efficient and reliable in performing irrigation and managing water resources and can be adopted in rural areas to boost agricultural productivity.

So far the Internet has been conceived as the network of people connected to one another. Recently, a lot of things works in connection with one another connected via the Internet. Thus this Internet is called Internet of Things(IoT). The things include not only the electronic devices for personal use such as smartphones and notebooks but also the variety of home appliances, cars, airplanes and even the satellite in the space. The things in the IoT are working based upon the most important two technologies, which are Artificial Intelligence and 5G Telecommunication Technology. Though IoT can be defined a bit differently by scholars and institutions, it is a common understanding that AI and 5G Telecommunication are the key elements. On one hand IoT’s capacity to sense, collect, analyze the informations and make decisions in a very high speed and effective way, makes possible the smart home, smart factory, smart city and even the smart government. On the other hand, it may also generate high risk and problems that it makes personal information leak and misused, person’s privacy is invaded, and even the national security can be threatened. The goals of benefiting IoT at the same time protecting people from the risks caused by IoT could be achieved through variety of efforts including setting up appropriate policies and enacting rules and regulations. This article addressed the alternative solutions for the achievement of the goals such as making soft laws, implementing governance process, and the application of blockchain. In sum, with all the pros and cons, this article strongly recommends people (including corporations, consumers, and other groups and associations), as the members of the community they belong to, that they adopt their own soft law best fit for their purpose and community environment to regulate themselves first and to make the soft law to regulate the society general as a de facto binding rules. While doing so we may go through the governance process to harmonize the conflicting interests of the constituents of the society and also adopt the new technology such as blockchain to strengthen the practicability of the soft law at the same time. Any soft law standards regarding the IoT should be purported to assure individuals that their data will not be misused or hacked, and that they facilitate trust and communication, and avoid the premature and heavy-handed stifling of innovation. Soft law can help these technologies proliferate while giving people the confidence that, contrary to the current belief, the benefits of the IoT far outweigh the risks. Soft law for IoT can be enhanced by convening a multistakeholder process, as one of the public governance process, to develop best practices for protecting the privacy and security of IoT data, including implementing security by blockchain solutions for the IoT.

Currently the development of information technology is very fast in its development. Up to all fields can not be separated from information technology. In the industrial era 4.0, there are also a lot of Internet of Things devices. Almost every field has used many IoT devices. The presence of IoT-based devices is very helpful in modern human life today. Moreover, with the development of microcontrollers and open source makes someone create a device quickly. One of them is making a prototype for sensing objects. By utilizing the Arduino Uno microcontroller and Ultrasonic sensors to create a sensing prototype. The results of this sensing can be displayed on notebooks and mobile phones. The microcontroller also sends sensing sensor data via Bluetooth as a wireless communication medium. Called Internet of Thing if a device can send signals to other devices. Various data communications can be via wireless or wire. Mobile app that is used to display sensing results from Ultrasonic sensors. Use of the App Inventor platform as a front end for mobile apps. This device is only limited to a short distance. Due to the limitations of the Ultrasonic sensing sensor it does not exceed 1 meter. This prototype can be developed using a longer distance and can be applied to remote sensing, if changing the sensing sensor with a remote sensing sensor.

The bothersome evil twin problem has an active user-side remedy in the form of the Wireless Packet Forwarding Detector (WPFD). The evil twin issue can lead to further security problems, including man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks. Open public Wi-Fi connections have provided potential answers to this issue, although they often need more data that people either cannot get or are too pricey for regular users. The solution that we created does not require these standards. It allows users’ notebooks to be used to check for evil twins. We have succeeded in developing a user-side detection system that can successfully identify the presence of an evil twin. The packet forwarding behavior generated by the evil twin and the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) protocol are both used by the WPFD. It can identify evil twins without a hitch when we utilize accessible Wi-Fi settings in public spaces or IoT smart homes with unencrypted WLANs (Wireless Local Area Network). However, neither additional data nor a wireless network administrator’s assistance is needed. We compare our work to various publications on popular Rogue Access Points (APs) or IoT (Internet of Things) smart homes. The WPFD does not require any extra setup to install on the host of any end user. According to experimental findings, the WPFD true positive and true negative rates are 100% even when Received Signal Strength Index (RSSI) is 45%.

Due to the lack of research in the field of music through CLIL and ICT in Secondary Education in Spain, we propose to merge this subject with an innovative methodology. The general objective is to present a different approach to students in order to increase their motivation for the subject. The specific objectives are to teach music in English by integrating content, cognition and vocabulary through communication and the use of new technologies. This approach makes the design and implementation didactic, audiovisual and multimedia. Cuadernia: digital notebook composed of flash files, videos and audios, and gamification strategies. Quizziz: multiplayer questionnaire of class contents, based on teaching music through a cooperative methodology and gamification, are applied as options with a great educational projection, with information and innovative pedagogical experiences and potential to work together in the classroom with different levels of the subject. The results that follow the Likert scale reflect high student satisfaction with regard to teaching methodology, content acquisition, teacher training, ICT and resources. As a conclusion, of the coincident results between the professor and the students, we would like to implement it in the coming years.

Internet access in both private and public environments allows users to broadly access their data what makes possible the deployment of new services based on Internet of Things. This fact created Smart Environments (SEs) that are composed of a huge amount of heterogeneous devices, for example, personal devices (smartphones, notebooks, tablets, etc) and IoT devices (sensors, actuators, and others). However, these environments can facilitate the action of malicious agents interested in promoting Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks to the network, and, when they are public places, it is challenging to locate these attackers. In this way, it is necessary to deploy solutions that can detect DDoS in SEs and to determine the physical location of the attacker, which is essential to prevent future attacks. Within this context, this article presents an Intelligent System for detection of DDoS and physical location of devices in SEs, applying Machine Learning (ML) and trilateration techniques. The experiments performed, using real network traffic and simulation, suggest that the proposed system is capable of detecting attacks and finding malicious devices.

Students are usually more motivated to work in a sport class than in a math class. This research combined both subjects into one class. A combined class with a cross-curricular approach was introduced in the 6th year of primary school. Three teachers, who teach sport and math in the 6th grade, jointly planned a lesson for refreshing the students' knowledge of basic geometrical concepts. To raise students' motivation for work, tablet computers were used in the class, and the Geogebra, Actionbound and Socrative applications. In the combined class, students had to use their bodies to illustrate different geometric notions. A symbol was chosen, and the students had to use sporting equipment to, by means of a relay, act out this symbol using their interrelationships. They had to pay attention to all the little details which are also important when drawing in a notebook. It was anticipated that recognizing geometric notions after that lesson would be at a higher level than before. The Socrative application was used at the end of the lesson to get a feedback on better understanding of the subject and to identify the positive effects of the cross-curricular approach.

The idea that Information Communication Technology (ICT) has become the lifeblood of national development is no longer news. Similarly, it is no news that it has contributed immensely to the economies of nations and revolutionized the means and methods of studying. However, the information of interest and concern now is how it has contributed to the dwindling reading culture among students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria. This topic was studied through oral interviews and personal interaction to know how students' reading habits have declined tremendously as a result of the advent of ICT using selected Kogi State University students as a case study. It is discovered through our informants that much time is given by the students to surfing the internet for both relevant and mostly irrelevant materials to their academic progress at the expense of reading natural materials such as textbooks and notebooks. This practice has depleted their natural mental ability and reduced their capacity to read comprehensively and effectively with consequent mass failure in both their internal and external examinations. The data collected were analyzed using the simple descriptive statistical tool to compute and summarize the findings. It was discovered that the advent of ICT has in no small way depleted their natural mental ability to read comprehensively and effectively. This paper is of the opinion that students need to put their internet use under control, appreciate the fact that all life is not yet online and see the internet for now as only a means to an end. This paper concludes with the view that lecturers need to sensitize the students on the importance of reading to their intellectual and moral development so that reading can start to take its rightful position alongside ICT.

Millennial learners were born and raised in the digital era, with a variety of technology complete and sophisticated, such as: computer, laptop/notebook/netbook, smart Phone, iPads, PDA, MP3 player, internet, and various other electronic devices. From childhood, they were familiar or introduced with the sophisticated gadgets that directly or indirectly influence their behavioral development and personality. Millennial generation has characteristics of behavior and personality that is different from previous generation. The attributes of millennial learners who grown up with technology may influence the current teaching strategy. In supporting the urgency of exploring the millennial learners’ attributes and needs in educational environment, the authors conduct a survey at Education Faculty of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare (UM Parepare), especially the learners who are majoring in English Education. The survey confirmed that those learners were exposed to various types of IT application. Some indications can be extracted from this study. Firstly, the learners were reasonably comfortable in utilizing various types of IT tools and expected the application to be embedded in the current application of learning. Secondly, the learners preferred to try to web in obtaining information, so the use of internet to access learning materials are highly needed. Last but not least, learners were mostly rated to adopt most ICT tools and devices.

In [Choi, 2011], the author presented the bilateral series connected with the odd-order mock theta functions in terms of Appell–Lerch sums. However, the author only derived the associated bilateral series for the fifth-order mock theta functions. The purpose of this paper is to further derive different types of bilateral series for the third-order mock theta functions. As applications, the identities between the two-group bilateral series are obtained and the bilateral series associated to the third-order mock theta functions are in fact modular forms. Then, we consider duals of the second type in terms of Appell–Lerch sums and duals in terms of partial theta functions defined by Hickerson and Mortenson of duals of the second type in terms of Appell–Lerch sums of such bilateral series associated to some third-order mock theta functions that Chen did not discuss in [On the dual nature theory of bilateral series associated to mock theta functions, Int. PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to present findings of a study conducted to determine eReadiness status of public university libraries in Malawi to use mobile phones in the provision of library and information services.Design/methodology/approachThe researcher carried out in-depth semi-structured interviews with university/college librarians and information and communications technology (ICT) directors using interview guides. Students were also administered with a survey questionnaire that contained closed- and some open-ended questions. Proceedings of the interviews were recorded using a tape recorder whilst backup notes were recorded in a notebook. Qualitative data were transcribed and analysed using NVivo software whilst quantitative data were analysed using SPPS.FindingsThe study findings revealed that institutions studied had the ICT infrastructure necessary for offering library and information services on the mobile phone platform. Moreover, students had mobile phones which were connected to internet to facilitate their access to services offered. However, the institutions covered by this study did not have operational ICT policies to govern the operations of library and information services offered through mobile phones although draft ICT policies were available. The study further concluded that though the human resources required to manage the provision of library and information services through mobile phones in the institutions studied were available, they did not have the necessary skills and numbers to provide quality services. Other findings revealed that attitudes of library staff and students to the offering and access to services through mobile phones were positive. The study also revealed that there are some factors that could impact the offering of library services through mobile phones.Research limitations/implicationsAlthough Malawi has four public universities, this study only focused on three of them. Moreover, academic staff is another important user group of academic libraries. In this case, findings reported in this paper only focus on students. This implies that library’s readiness to offer services through mobile phones to this group remains unknown hence may have to be covered by future studies. Much as the study incorporated a quantitative strand in addition to the qualitative one, it neither involved theory testing nor confirmation as is the case with other related studies. This implies that the two theories used in this study (the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology and the technology-organisation-environment) were not used in the strict sense, which is empirical at the core, but rather to put the problem studied in the context of other related studies.Practical implicationsThe findings have practical implications in that they can be used for planning the implementation of library and information services through mobile phones in public university libraries in Malawi. Other related institutions can also use the findings as a reference point in planning the implementation of similar services.Originality/valueStudies relating to the use of mobile phones in the delivery of library and information services have not been conducted in public universities in Malawi. Findings of this study will, therefore, inform researchers intending to conduct similar or related studies not only in public universities in Malawi but other related institutions as well.

Purpose Integration and use of technology in teaching and learning in the education sector from pre-primary education (PPE) to the higher levels of education, is a policy issue. In developed countries, including Tanzania, information and communication technology (ICT), especially in PPE, is inadequately researched for laying evidence on its applicability in instruction and learning. Therefore, this paper aims to determine pre-primary teachers’ preparedness in integrating ICT in classroom instruction and challenges teachers face in integrating it for child’s meaningful learning. Design/methodology/approach Methods and instruments: a qualitative transcendental phenomenological approach was used in determining teachers’ preparedness in integrating ICT in PPE in Tanzania. It was further used to collect data that describe the teaching and learning through the integration of ICT in every session as their lived experience for pre-primary teachers. Its selection was appropriate as it allowed researchers to systematically analyse for description the commonalities and differences existing among the involved teachers in integrating ICT in teaching and learning as their lived experiences (Moerer-Urdahl and Creswell, 2004). To appropriately analyse teachers’ understanding and experiences regarding ICT and its integration in teaching and learning in pre-primary classes, semi-structured interviews and open-ended questionnaires were used for in-depth understanding of the study problem. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data through open-ended questions where researchers took an average of 40 min per session with participants’ (teachers) using notebooks to take note of their thoughts, feelings and beliefs about ICT integration in PPE. Use of the semi-structured interview was based on the reality that it provides in-depth information pertaining to participants’ experiences and viewpoints of a particular topic (Turner, 2010). Once the interview session was complete, each teacher was given a questionnaire to fill in for triangulating their experiences. Description of participants: a total of 14 schools constituting 28 teachers were purposively sampled and engaged in this study. Analysis of participants’ demographic characteristics indicates that all of the involved teachers had certificate in teacher education that qualified them as primary school teachers. Meanwhile, 18 (66.7 per cent) of the pre-primary school teachers who were involved in this study were female with only 10 (33.3 per cent) had working experience at and above five years of teaching in early grade classes. Study participants (teachers) from Itilima and Meatu Districts were purposively involved in the study as their experiences in young children’s learning and contextual influences (educational and training policy of 2014, the ICT policy of 2007, and foreign studies) are potential in improving the quality of learning. Study area: the current study was conducted in two districts (Itilima and Meatu) all found in Simiyu region. The two districts were selected and considered appropriate by the study as they constituted the 17 most disadvantaged rural areas in Tanzania (Mosha et al., 2015). Authors describe the two districts as having poor educational outcomes mainly relatively low pass rates in the primary school leaving examination results. In Itilima, one ward out of 22 was studied in which its six schools [with a total of 12 teachers] among 87 schools in the district were involved. While in Meatu district, eight of 121 schools [with a total of 16 teachers] in one ward of 29 wards were studied. This implies that a total of 14 schools and 28 teachers were involved in this study. Data analysis: the data collected through the interviews and open-ended questionnaires were subjected to content analysis procedures (reading and re-reading notes and transcripts followed by a three-steps-coding process consisting of open, axial and selective coding procedures). The analysis process was informed by the Vagle’s (2014) six steps for phenomenological research data analysis procedure (holistic reading of the entire text, first line-by-line reading, follow up questions, second line-by-line reading, third line-by-line reading, and subsequent readings). Practically, the researchers read and re-read the texts and transcribed data from the language used during data collection that is Kiswahili, into the reporting language that is English. Following transcription, data were coded for developing categories of data through axial and elective coding processes. Findings The data analysis was conducted and results and its discussion are presented in three sub-sections: preparedness of teachers in using ICT in teaching and learning; teachers’ views about the integration of ICT in teaching and learning; and challenges faced by teachers in integrating ICT in teaching and learning. Teacher’s preparedness in the use of ICT in teaching: exploration of teachers’ preparedness in integrating ICT in teaching and learning was preceded by exploration of teachers’ understanding of ICT in teaching and learning. Analysis revealed that majority of teachers were aware about ICT in teaching and learning and they understood it as the implementation of curriculum at school level that involves use of ICT-based facilities such as television, mobile phones, computer and radio. Teacher elaborated that appropriate use of ICT-based facilities that would later develop children to potentially improve their understanding and practical application in daily life. Other teachers understood ICT in teaching and learning as use of printed materials [newspapers and magazines] in facilitating pupil’s learning of planned lessons. While other teachers were aware of what ICT means the second category of teachers as noted in their responses, had limited understanding, as to them, ICT in education meant use of printed materials. Difference in teachers’ understanding of the ICT in teaching and learning also indicate some teachers viewing it as use of ICT facilities in developing children’s competencies in the specific subject. In the teachers’ views, ICT is considered as subject content and they delimited their understanding into that perspective ignoring it as technological use for facilitating meaningful learning in all subjects. Their views are based on the development of children with competencies useful in facilitating further learning in the subject known as Teknolojia ya Habari na Mawasiliano. Following the question based on exploring teachers’ understanding of ICT in teaching and learning, researchers explored teachers’ preparedness in using ICT in teaching and learning. Table 1.0 illustrates teachers’ multiple responses regarding their preparation. Table I: teacher’s preparedness in using ICT in teaching and learning. S/N; preparedness; freq; and per cent. Enhancing child’s understanding on the use of ICT-based facilities-20, 71.4; using remedial sessions teaching ICT-12, 42.8; using ICT-based facilities for teaching other classes-8, 28.5. Table 1.0 illustrates that teachers are prepared to enable children use ICT to access information and more knowledge related to their school subjects and general life. They were of the view that ICT could serve well in areas where text and supplementary books are scares or torn-out by pupils because were poorly bound or due to poor quality of papers used. Therefore, availability of ICT facilities in schools would become important resource-materials for pupils, as well as teachers. For instance, a teacher said that; Availability of ICT facilities, such as computers in schools will help us in preparing notes or content for supplementing their learning. Different from the paper-based notes, computers will keep our notes properly compared to the papers that get easily displaced and hard to retrieve notes when lost (Interview, 20 April 2016). In addition to the use of ICT facilities in serving as resource material, their use in schools would aid pupils and teachers to use them beyond teaching and learning. Teachers narrated that children may find games and puzzles that all help in stimulating their thinking, hence interest in schooling and further learning. Teachers also said they are prepared to use even extra hours that are beyond school timetable to ensure children learn well to meet the uncovered periods once facilities are placed in school. Use of extra hours beyond the normal school timetable comm. Research limitations/implications The study was limited to the accessed and involved schools as some schools were found to have no specific teachers teaching a pre-primary class on reasons the responsible teacher for the class had retired. As a result, researchers spend extended time to travel and reach schools that were located far from one school to the other. Again, some teachers were reluctant in participation on reasons that researchers are evaluating their competency for reporting to the higher authorities. Practical implications Differences in teachers’ understanding of the ICT in teaching and learning also indicate some teachers viewing it as the use of ICT facilities in developing pupils’ competencies in the specific subject. In the teachers’ views, ICT is considered as subject content and they delimited their understanding into that perspective ignoring it as technological use for facilitating meaningful learning in all subjects. Effective integration of ICT for efficiency in instruction depends on the teacher’s preparedness especially competency in using the equipments and infrastructures especially electric power. Social implications Integration of Information and Communication Technology in teaching and learning in PPE is socially important in the view that all children regardless of their background (urban or rural, affluent or poor) benefits in learning through use of technology. The children’s access to education integrating ICT would ensure equal opportunities for quality learning outcomes. In contrast, lack of exposing young children early in using ICT facilities for interaction and learning would adversely impact their participation in knowledge sharing in later years of schooling and employability opportunities. Originality/value There is limited empirical evidence about teachers' engagement in research particularly in PPE in Tanzania. Together with limited research in the level of education, this study is the original contribution to state of teachers at the school level about their engagement in integrating information and communication technology for informing education decision makers and administrators on matters of focus to improve educational instruction and implementation of Tanzania education and training policy, as well as the implementation of the ICT policy of 2016.

Mobile devices such as phones, tablets and subnotebooks are driving innovation in device packaging. These devices currently are jammed full of advanced capabilities, such as HD video, GPS, WLAN, cellular, touchscreens, Bluetooth, and dual cameras - with significantly more functionality than “sophisticated” notebooks. These features drive demand for mobile devices and provide significant challenges to the packaging community for solutions such as thinner packages while still controlling warpage, new materials, both polymers and solders, as well as innovative structures moving into 2.5 and 3D. Solving these challenges allows innovation to drive demand for mobile devices, providing a providing a platform for many innovative uses that are still being tapped, such as entertainment, video recording, web access, computer vision, augmented reality, all readable, recognizable, locatable, addressable, and controllable through the internet, the Internet of Things (IOT) concept. This talk will discuss current and future innovations to address these formidable issues in the mobile environment. Many extreme temperature applications such as power converters and motor drivers operate from power rails that are floating, noisy and have extremely high voltages. Typically the logic signal is only a few volts but is must be transmitted in an environment with hundreds or thousands of volts of common mode voltage. In some cases isolation is required for safety reasons to prevent leakage currents that could present an electrical shock hazard. For example the ground reference for a high side driver of an all N channel half bridge is referenced to the switch pin and switches between ground and the power rail within a few nanoseconds. At normal operating temperatures there are many specialized components such as opto-isolators, capacitive coupled devices and devices with integrated high frequency transformers that transmit logic signals across the isolation barrier. These specialized integrated circuits that provide isolation may not function reliably at elevated temperatures; those that do tend to be expensive. With special consideration of the system partitioning, it may be possible to avoid the need for galvanic isolation at extreme temperatures. It may be possible to provide the isolation in a remote more benign environment and send the isolated signal down a cable with appropriate impedance matching. When galvanic isolation at extreme temperatures is necessary, there must be temperature considerations for the components used. For example, when designing pulse transformers, the temperature effects on the magnetic core material properties such as permeability and frequency response must be considered as well as the Curie temperature. Modulation of the logic signals can help to reduce transformer size. Since the isolated driver functions typically require power, a novel method of winding the transformer is discussed; this method allows the drive signal to be transferred across the isolation barrier in the same transformer core that is used to provide isolated power to the driver. This paper addresses these topics and provides several alternative solutions to the problem of galvanic signal isolation at extreme temperatures.

These days focus is more on technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and IoT. There is lots of platforms available for IOT implementation. ESP8266 chip is among them Here the implementation is about prediction of different aspects of weather data that can be used in many ways like predicting the future condition of different region of earth or predicting future condition of different planets and their different regions. To implement this system, we need different sensors like pressure sensor humidity sensor, temperature sensor and a light intensity sensor i.e DHT11 is utilize for temperature and humidity data together and LDR. Is for light intensity. The data which is sensed by different sensors are than uploaded to Thingspeak which is an API for cloud server by the help of NodeMCU and then converted to csv format. The data can be used for monitoring the real time values too. Machine Learning Environment can be setup by the help of a CNN model. Training of model can be done by recorded values of sensor data. After recording data from sensors to NodeMCU like temperature, pressure, humidity and light intensity and after these values are sent to python environment that is Jupyter notebook for further analysis. Here the data which is used is real time data to predict the particular value and test the model.

Paper-notebook is one of the crucial school equipment and always needed. A study also found out that despite the widespread use of information and communication technology (ICT), there is a significant number of students who prefer to use a paper-based resource for writing and reading. The use of paper-notebook products also affected by the youngsters (productive age), and it estimated that 65% of the total population in Indonesia is in a productive period. Indonesia’s demand for paper-notebook also keeps developing. To optimize the market opportunity regarding paper-notebook product, the innovation of product that matches the needs of the local and potential markets is crucial. The understanding and fulfillment of customers' needs are one of the drivers for better business results; a project with high-quality marketing actions, which includes capturing the Voice of the Customer (VOC), double the success rates and have 70% higher market shares than those projects with an inadequate approach. Hence, this researcher aimed to identify customer needs regarding paper-notebook by capturing the Voice of the Customer then process it into a paper-notebook design based on customer preference.

AbstractIn this paper, we will establish some double-angle formulas related to the inverse function of $$\int _0^x \text {d}t/\sqrt{1-t^6}$$ ∫ 0 x d t / 1 - t 6 . This function appears in Ramanujan’s Notebooks and is regarded as a generalized version of the lemniscate function.

Nowadays, urban environments are deploying smart environments (SEs) to evolve infrastructures, resources, and services. SEs are composed of a huge amount of heterogeneous devices, i.e., the SEs have both personal devices (smartphones, notebooks, tablets, etc) and Internet of Things (IoT) devices (sensors, actuators, and others). One of the existing problems of the SEs is the detection of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, due to the vulnerabilities of IoT devices. In this way, it is necessary to deploy solutions that can detect DDoS in SEs, dealing with issues like scalability, adaptability, and heterogeneity (distinct protocols, hardware capacity, and running applications). Within this context, this article presents an Intelligent System for DDoS detection in SEs, applying Machine Learning (ML), Fog, and Cloud computing approaches. Additionally, the article presents a study about the most important traffic features for detecting DDoS in SEs, as well as a traffic segmentation approach to improve the accuracy of the system. The experiments performed, using real network traffic, suggest that the proposed system reaches 99% of accuracy, while reduces the volume of data exchanged and the detection time.

Purpose: to analyse how the Republic of Moldova has been coping with digital inequality during the pandemic and the extent to which the digital divide has impacted the economic inequality in the country, as well as to understand what leads to digital disparities. Study design/methodology/approach: In this research, the level of preparedness of the Moldovan households for the digitalization needs that occurred as a result of the pandemic and the both ways impact of the opportunity dimension of economic inequality and digital divide have been analysed, as well as how the lack of ICT utilities deprived certain social layers of economic opportunities during the pandemic. Concurrently, the causes of digital divide in the Republic of Moldova have been analysed to get a deeper understanding of the digital discrepancies that resulted in lack of economic opportunities. For this purpose, the data on the access to mobile phones and computers, notebooks, tablets of Moldovan households and the connection to the Internet have been analysed and the digitalization trend has been contrasted with the disposable-income based economic inequality data (Gini index). The data used for the analysis have been retrieved from the National Bureaus of Statistics (NBS) of the Republic of Moldova and has been segregated per urban and rural areas as well as per quintiles. In addition, in order to understand the cause of digital divide and the impact on economic opportunity, we have added two more variables to the equation and namely, the absolute poverty and the employment indicator for the pandemic period (2019-2020). Findings: Covid-19 found the Moldovan households unprepared for the digitalization needs generated by the pandemic. Even though deeper in the rural area, the digital divide has enhanced the economic inequality especially in the urban area during the early pandemic period. The high absolute poverty in the rural area and the increasing trend in the urban area, associated with a decreasing employment rate especially in the cities, represent a presumed outcome of the Moldovan digital unpreparedness which enhanced the economic inequality by affecting its opportunity dimension. Originality/value: The novelty of the research is that the impact and interlink between two types of inequality (digital and economic) in the Republic of Moldova have been analysed with a special focus on the opportunity dimension of economic inequality.
