<p class="R-AbstractKeywords"><span lang="EN-US">Mobile applications conquer the world, but iOS devices hold the major share of tablets market among the corporate workers. This study aims to identify the aspects (i.e. features and/ or limitations) that influence the testing of the native iOS applications. The aspects related to general mobile applications testing are identified through the systematic literature review of academic sources. iOS applications testing aspects are identified through the review of non-academic (multivocal) literature sources. The identified aspects are merged and discussed in detail using the reviewed sources and based on the author’s professional experience in iOS applications testing. The references to the credible sources are provided in order to support the professional experience findings. The study eliminates the gap that exists in the academic world in regards to iOS applications testing. The practitioners are also encouraged to fulfill their iOS applications testing strategies with the identified aspects.</span></p>

The relevance of the Internet of Services (IoS) comes from the global reach of the Internet into everyone’s home and daily activities and from the move from a manufacturing-based economy to a service-based economy. The IoS is seen as a new ecosystem where service providers and consumers explore their business networks for service provision and consumption. The scientific literature refers to IoS as an important cornerstone for Industry 4.0 and Future Internet; thus, it becomes relevant to study how IoS interacts with business models. Nevertheless, there is a lack of clarity on such an intersection. Moreover, a systematic review of IoS-based business models is still missing. This paper aims to make a systematic review of IoS-based business models and their application fields. We included studies from Scopus and Web of Science databases, we excluded duplicated papers and short conference versions of the later full paper journal publications. Twenty-three different studies are presented, categorized in the sub-areas of IoS, and then by the fields of applications. The main finding highlights the opportunities of IoS applications in different fields, offering directions for future research on this new arena.

Abstract: The concern for protecting personal data has been raised many years ago and has been kept on sight ever since. People have to trust their devices and the applications they use so smartphone company survive on the market. Apple treats the security side very seriously and tries to reduce any malicious behaviour as early as possible. This is the main reason they introduced the vetting process to filter out the applications that seem suspicious and only publish legit applications on the App Store. Although the theory looks just fine, there have been multiple applications removed from the App Store because of malicious behaviours that couldn’t be found during the vetting process. In this paper we focus on finding personal data leaks through already published applications in the App Store.

Family Tracking is a mobile application that utilizes GPS technology to find out the location of each family member. There are several features such as the activity schedule, group chat, and the supervision area added by parents to the child's activity schedule. This application was developed with hybrid approach using Ionic 3 Framework development tools with support of Firebase backend. With the hybrid approach can produce multi-platform applications using the same source code. In this research the application was developed for the Android and iOS platforms. Based on functionality testing in accordance with ISO 9126-2 standards, that all features and functions contained in the application run well on both platforms. Then based on the application performance testing on each device that has the same benchmark value, the application can run stablen iOS devices but has the highest memory usage compared to Android devices with an average difference of 33.81mb. And then applications on iOS devices have lower CPU usage than Android devices, with differences in usage averaging 18.79%. Then based on the results of interviews to get user feedback, the results show that the application can running well and function as expected on Android and iOS devices.

In the latter case, besides the native development environments, it is worth considering a cross-platform development environment to write the software. This study investigates both the development and performance aspects of some possibilities for iOS application development, namely, native iOS development in Xcode, Xamarin.iOS, and Xamarin.Forms frameworks.

Background and objectivesMany aspects of CKD management rely heavily on patient self-care, including medication and dietary adherence, self-monitoring of BP, and daily physical activity. Growing evidence suggests that incorporating smartphone-based applications can support self-care in CKD and chronic disease more generally.Design, setting, participants, & measurementsWe identified applications targeting patients with CKD by conducting a search of the US Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android) using the following four phrases: “kidney disease,” “renal,” “dialysis,” and “kidney transplant.” We considered the first 50 applications for each search term on each application store. We adapted a previously described framework for assessment of mobile health applications to account for kidney disease–specific content areas and evaluated applications on their types of patient engagement, quality, usability, and safety. Engagement and quality were assessed by both a patient and a nephrologist, usability was assessed by a patient, and safety was assessed by a nephrologist. Overall, two patients with CKD and three nephrologists performed the evaluations. We examined pairwise correlations between patient, nephrologist, and consumer ratings of application quality.ResultsOur search strategy identified 174 unique applications on Android and 165 unique applications on iOS. After excluding applications that were not related to kidney disease, were not patient facing, or were last updated before 2014, 12 Android-only applications, 11 iOS-only applications, and five dual-platform applications remained. Patient and nephrologist application quality ratings, assessed by the net promoter score, were not correlated (r=0.36; P=0.06). Consumer ratings on the application stores did not correlate with patient ratings of application quality (r=0.34; P=0.18).ConclusionsOnly a small subset of CKD applications was highly rated by both patients and nephrologists. Patients’ impressions of application quality are not directly linked to consumer application ratings or nephrologist impressions.

This in vitro study was designed to investigate whether conventionally produced casts and printed casts for prosthodontic purposes show comparable full-arch accuracy; a ceramic reference cast with inlay and crown preparations was fabricated. Ten gypsum casts were fabricated from conventional silicone elastomeric impressions. Ten digital impressions [IOS] of the reference cast were obtained by an intraoral scanner to fabricate 3D-printed resin casts. The ceramic reference cast, the gypsum, and the printed casts were digitized by an industrial structured light scanner (ILS) and provided as stl files. To evaluate absolute mean trueness values, the digitized gypsum casts [CON], digitized printed casts [PRINT], and [IOS] were superimposed with the digitized ceramic reference cast [REF]. Additionally, each [IOS] scan was compared with its corresponding [PRINT]. The precision was calculated for [CON], [IOS], and [PRINT]. The Mann–Whitney U test for independent samples and the Wilcoxon test for connected samples were performed (p ≤ 0.05). As absolute mean deviation trueness values were obtained: 69 ± 24 µm for [REF]-[CON], 33 ± 4 µm for [REF]-[PRINT], and 19 ± 3 µm for [REF]-[IOS]. The superimposition [IOS]-[PRINT] revealed 38 ± 6 µm. The precision was 74 ± 22 µm for [CON], 32 ± 10 µm for [PRINT], and 15 ± 4 µm for [IOS]. With respect to the workflow, the trueness values of [REF]-[CON] and [REF]-[PRINT] differed significantly. Within the digital workflow, [REF]-[PRINT], [REF]-[IOS], and [IOS]-[PRINT], all values differed significantly. Within the limitations of the study, digital impression and printed cast fabrication were more accurate and reproducible than the conventional workflow.

The paper concerns a comparison of SwiftUI and UIKit frameworks, used in iOS application development. SwiftUI was introduced in 2019 as a successor to UIKit as a main tool for creating application views. The purpose of this article is to compare the time performance of these two frameworks. Six testing applications have been implemented for the research, 2 in each framework. The software was complementary. The defined thesis "SwiftUI is more time efficient for applications with data collection and many filled text fields" was proved.

Mobile games develop along with technological developments. Gaming applications by applying special graphics technologies optimizes any mobile device. The purpose of this study is to design an Action RPG game application by applying Cocos2d technology to be implemented on mobile devices based on IOS operating system. This study performs data collecting and analyzing, interface designing, application implementation, and application evaluation using the Waterfall Model. Data collection is withdrawn from several surveys related to user needs and similar games. Progressing the study, gameplay design is performed using UML, the data storage structure, and interface design. The study results in an Action RPG game application that is implemented on mobile devices. The results showes that Action RPG games can be developed by incorporating elements of art, graphics, and stories that enhance user's interests.

Study presented in this paper concerns the comparative analysis of the performance of iOS applications developed using native and cross-platform technologies. For the purpose of the research, two iOS applications were implemented: the first one was created using the Swift programming language, while the second one using Flutter technology. For both applications, a set of research scenarios was defined, which assumed the examination of the time of execution and CPU consumption during the execution of operations, such as: sorting integers, writing and reading string from a file or writing and reading records from the SQLite database. The conducted analysis showed that it is not possible to clearly state which application is more efficient in terms of execution time and CPU consumption, because they obtained divergent results for different research scenarios. The native application performed better for file and database operations, while the cross-platform one obtained lower time and CPU consumption when sorting numbers.

This article presents the performance analysis of a cross-platform mobile application implemented with Xamarin and two native applications for Android and iOS platforms. The results concerning the time analysis for selected activities were compared in order to determine whether cross-platform tools are worth using in mobile application development. Native applications achieved better performance, however in some cases the cross-platform approach allows for significant development time reduction without deterioration in user experience.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to build an iOS-based application to provide quick and easy access to information on food and beverages that are tailored to an illness. Design/methodology/approach The method used is the method of analysis, i.e. collect the necessary data from various sources that contain the issues to be examined. Software development life cycle used the Waterfall Model that has seven stages to its completion: the requirements analysis and specification, architectural design, detailed design, coding, unit testing, integration testing and system testing and acceptance. Findings Existing applications were evaluated from the user point of view. The evaluation was performed by 25 users trying directly on the application. After conducting experiments on the application, users were asked to answera questionnaire that included questions on the problems they may have faced and whether the problem was solved. The results of user evaluation were as follows: 72 per cent of users found that the application view is quite good and 88 per cent of users felt the speed and ease of getting enough information. Originality/value The authors report that the development of the application reference, menu of healthy food on the IOS platform, can make users get a healthy diet and abortion based on the illness quickly and easily.

Mobile applications dedicated to iOS can be developed natively or hybrid. The subject of this paper is to compare these technologies on the example of a created mobile application. The performance of both technologies, the structure of projects, as well as resource consumption on the example of four smartphones operating under iOS, has been examined. Considering the performance analysis, the compilation time of the application, reading and writing data from the cloud database, as well as the time of sorting the read data was examined. On the test devices, it was checked how intense is the use of the system. The obtained results confirm that producing a mobile application in native technology is more perfor- mance efficient.

Oxide inverse opals (IOs) with their high surface area and open porosity are promising candidates for catalyst support applications. Supports with confined mesoporous domains are of added value to heterogeneous catalysis. However, the fabrication of IOs with mesoporous or sub-macroporous voids (<100 nm) continues to be a challenge, and the diffusion of tracers in quasi-mesoporous IOs is yet to be adequately studied. In order to address these two problems, we synthesized ZnO IOs films with tunable pore sizes using chemical bath deposition and template-based approach. By decreasing the size of polystyrene (PS) template particles towards the mesoporous range, ZnO IOs with 50 nm-sized pores and open porosity were synthesized. The effect of the template-removal method on the pore geometry (spherical vs. gyroidal) was studied. The infiltration depth in the template was determined, and the factors influencing infiltration were assessed. The crystallinity and photonic stop-band of the IOs were studied using X-Ray diffraction and UV-Vis, respectively. The infiltration of tracer molecules (Alexa Fluor 488) in multilayered quasi-mesoporous ZnO IOs was confirmed via confocal laser scanning microscopy, while fluorescence correlation spectroscopy analysis revealed two distinct diffusion times in IOs assigned to diffusion through the pores (fast) and adsorption on the pore walls (slow).

The German meat sector is faced with increasing cost pressures and a high demand for quality and safety. Both issues require powerful and holistic IT solutions in order to achieve knowledge transfer, process alignment and transparent information flows across the supply chain. In recent years, new Inter-Organizational Information Systems (IOS) were developed for the red meat industry. However, the acceptance of IOS at the farm level is still relatively low. Since there is hardly any relevant literature on IOS in the meat sector, this study contributes to the general research on IOS, the status quo of data flows in the pork supply chain as well as a systematization and evaluation of the most relevant existing internet based IOS. Furthermore, special needs for IOS on the spot market which is the dominating organizational form in the German pork sector are defined and contrasted against the current supply of systems. It was found that none of the existing IT solutions adequately meet the requirements which are important in complex spot market relationships. Consequently, we recommend a higher consideration of supply chain organization in IOS research and development.

Pengembangan aplikasi ini bertujuan untuk memudahkan pembeli dalam menemukan produk yang diminati dan lokasi alamat penjual. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development), untuk mengembangkan aplikasi E-Commerce menggunakan sistem informasi geografis. Model yang digunakan dalam membangun teknologi ini adalah Model ADDIE. Pada model ini memberikan kesempatan untuk melakukan evaluasi dan revisi secara terus menerus dalam setiap fase yang dilalui, sehingga produk yang dihasilkan menjadi produk yang valid. Adapun 5 tahapan dalam model ADDIE ini adalah Analysis (analisis), Design (desain), Development (pengembangan), Implementation (implementasi), dan Evaluation (evaluasi). Hasil akhir dari projek ini adalah berupa aplikasi aplikasi E-Commerce menggunakan sistem informasi geografis yang dapat diakses melalui web browser yang ada pada smartphone android, ios dan pada perangkat laptop atau pc. Aplikasi ini mampu menampilkan map mulai dari pemetaan lokasi produk, direction, hingga navigasi menuju lokasi alamat penjual. Hasil pengujian dari respon pengguna setelah menggunakan aplikasi menyatakan, aplikasi aplikasi E-Commerce menggunakan sistem informasi geografis 89% . Sehingga aplikasi ini layak untuk dikembangkan.Kata Kunci : Web Browser, SIG, E-Commerce,direction, navigasi, Android, IOS. This research aimed at produce a draft and implementing the results of the draft E-Commerce applications using geographic information systems. The development of this application aimed to facilitate buyers to find products in demand and address of the seller. The method used was research and development, to develop E-Commerce applications using geographic information systems. The model used in constructing this technology was ADDIE Model. In this model provided an opportunity to evaluate and revise continuously in every phase passes, so the resulting product becomes a valid product. Five stages in the model were the ADDIE Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The final outcome of this project was E-Commerce applications using geographic information system that can be accessed through web browsers available on smartphones android, ios and to the laptop or pc. This application was able to display map starting from mapping the location of the product, direction, up to the navigation to the location address of the seller. The test results of the user responsed after using the application states, E-Commerce applications using geographic information systems 89%. Recent innovations in smartphone technology have led to the development of a number of applications for the valid and reliable measurement of physical performance. Smartphone applications offer a number of advantages over laboratory based testing including cost, portability, and absence of postprocessing. However, smartphone applications for the measurement of running speed have not yet been validated. In the present study, the iOS smartphone application,SpeedClock, was compared to conventional timing lights during flying 10 m sprints in recreationally active women. Independent samplest-test showed no statistically significant difference betweenSpeedClockand timing lights (t(190)=1.83,p=0.07), while intraclass correlations showed excellent agreement betweenSpeedClockand timing lights (ICC (2,1) = 0.93,p=0.00, 95% CI 0.64–0.97). Bland-Altman plots showed a small systematic bias (mean difference = 0.13 seconds) withSpeedClockgiving slightly lower values compared to the timing lights. Our findings suggestSpeedClockfor iOS devices is a low-cost, valid tool for the assessment of mean flying 10 m sprint velocity in recreationally active females. Systematic bias should be considered when interpreting the results fromSpeedClock.

The recent rise of smartphones has triggered a revolution in mobile development. As a result of this incremental mobile innovation, new software engineering techniques, software documentation, and tools adapted to the mobile platform remain essential in order to help developers to better understand, analyze, and bootstrap porting mobile applications. In this paper, the authors propose a model-driven reverse-engineering approach based on static analysis, which describes a semantic metamodel of the iOS mobile application and extract design information (such as user interfaces, activity diagram, entities, framework and library dependencies) in order to generate the functional specification documentation and the Android UI skeleton. Thus, aiding the project team, who has in charge porting the app to another mobile platform, to agree upon a consensus on what has to be implemented and safe development cost by auto generating the Android UI skeleton project. To experiment this approach, the authors have implemented a tool called iSpecSnapshot. Moreover, they evaluate the performance of iSpecSnapshot by an experiment involving iOS applications that are ported to Android platform.

Interorganizational systems (IOS) are information and communication technology-based systems that transcend organizational boundaries. However, their use does not always lead to successful interorganizational collaboration, particularly in settings where significant changes in business processes are needed. The architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry offers such a setting, in particular as its stakeholders are encouraged to use of a novel type of interorganizational system known as building information modeling (Building Information Modelling), which can only be successfully used if parties collaborate. This research seeks to uncover what leads to interorganizational collaboration in this particular context. Drawing on rich data from interviews with BIM users involved in interorganizational projects, the authors propose a conceptual model of how interorganizational collaboration unfolds. The authors highlight the central role played by interorganizational infrastructure, collective identity, and IT affordances, on interorganizational collaboration.

Abstract Fish otoliths have provided biologists with a treasure-house of valuable life history information across levels of biological organization from individuals to ecosystems. Otoliths have long been used to provide the age and growth estimates which are basic data that underpin scientific fisheries and fisheries ecology. The traditional use of calcified tissues (CS) has been augmented by new applications to address questions of population connectivity, migration, and trophic ecology. These tools have become increasingly important in meeting the demands for spatially explicit and ecosystem-level management tools. Analysis of CS is now extended to applications related to spatial use (essential habitats) and as a record of past and present environmental conditions. This special volume of the ICES Journal of Marine Science contains contributions from the 5th International Otolith Symposium (IOS 2014), an ICES Science Symposium held in October 2014, in Mallorca, Spain. IOS 2014 is a continuation of a series of symposia that started in 1993 to encourage the exchange of information and expertise and to promote the development of new techniques and applications for otolith-based analysis in ecology, management, and conservation. IOS 2014 was the largest meeting to date, with 329 participants from 45 countries. The aim of IOS 2014 was to explore the use of CS as tools to support management and define indicators at environmental, community, population, and individual levels. This international forum is the centre for the exchange of information about developments in the field. New techniques of analysis, statistical treatment, and indeed new areas of application are all presented in this forum. Regular attendees are often the prominent users of otolith analyses in their home institution, and many are active in ICES work. This is also a premier venue for interaction between ICES scientists and those working in other parts of the world. North America, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia are particularly active in advancing otolith techniques, and exchange of ideas and information is crucial to improving the science in the ICES community.

Purpose. Nowadays, it is difficult to imagine a person who would not use a smartphone. The main direction in creating many applications are such operating systems as iOS and Android. One of the essential stages of the life cycle of cross-platform applications for iOS and Android is building architecture. It is important not only to be able to build an architecture using well-known «tools», but also to understand to which extent this should be implemented and what impact it will have on the software product in the future. The aim of the work is to analyze approaches to development with excessive or insufficient use of design principles and templates, as well as analysis of the results of the final product, cross-platform software for iOS and Android operating systems. Methodology. To improve the existing software, a static analyzer has been designed and implemented, which is focused on the development of architecture in software of different sizes and types. Only the necessary templates and design approaches which allowed implementing the necessary functionality without complicating the system and guarantee easy support, testing and extension of functionality if it is needed, were used to create the software product. Findings. During the experiments, it was found that when designing cross-platform software for iOS and Android operating systems, not only neglect of patterns and common design approaches, but also their excessive use complicates the development, expansion, maintenance and testing of software. Originality. The extent and consequences of using the design templates, the benefits and examples of using the patterns and approaches in the design of cross-platform applications were determined. For the first time, the necessary degree of use of design templates for mobile applications of different sizes and purposes was analyzed. Practical value. The results of the work will allow the programmer to better understand the principles of designing the applications for iOS and Android operating systems, as well as the conditions of use of the known design templates. The information obtained can be used by teachers of higher education institutions as a means of providing practical examples and demonstrations for higher education students in performing practical work and programmers on real commercial projects.

It has been recognized for decades that low and inconsistent spray coverages of pesticide applications represent a major challenge to successful and sustainable crop protection. Deployment of water-sensitive spray cards combined with image analysis can provide valuable and quantitative insight into spray coverage. Herein we provide description of a novel and freely available smartphone app, “Smart Spray”, for both iOS and Android smart devices (iOS and Google app stores). More specifically, we provide a theoretical description of spray coverage, and we describe how Smart Spray and similar image-processing software packages can be used as decision support tools and quality control for pesticide spray applications. Performance assessment of the underlying pixel classification algorithm is presented, and we detail practical recommendations on how to use Smart Spray to maximize accuracy and consistency of spray coverage predictions. Smart Spray was developed as part of ongoing efforts to: (1) maximize the performance of pesticide sprays, (2) minimize pest-induced yield loss and to potentially reduce the amount of pesticide used, (2) reduce the risk of target pests developing pesticide resistance, (3) reduce the risk of spray drift, and (4) optimize spray application costs by introducing a quality control.

Building trusted IoT environments is of great importance to achieve the full benefits of IoS. In addition, building trusted IoT environments mitigates unrecoverable and unexpected damages in order to create reliable, efficient, stable, and flexible smart IoS-driven systems. Therefore, ensuring trust will provide the confidence and belief that IoT devices and consequently IoS behave as expected. Before hosting trust models, suitable architecture for Fog computing is needed to provide scalability, fast data access, simple and efficient intra-communication, load balancing, decentralization, and availability. In this article, we propose scalable and efficient Chord-based horizontal architecture. We also show how trust modeling can be mapped to our proposed architecture. Extensive performance evaluation experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance and the feasibility and also to verify the behavior of our proposed architecture.

The challenge is even greater if the application is planned for multiple platforms whose the operating systems uses different technologies, namely, IOS/Objective-C environment for the Phone and the IPad, Java SDK for Android, etc. This fragmentation makes mobile application development rather difficult and very expensive, hence the use of cross-platform development. To address the cross-platform development different approach exist, the choice was focused on the MDA approach whose principle is the elaboration of various UML models. By studying in detail various target platforms on the basis of a set of criteria and performing a model for each criterion, the aim of our research work is to elaborate a meta-model from UML models realized for each platform.

From a tourist point of view, there are already many applications that, with the help of these technologies, will provide more information simply by pointing the camera at a specific object.Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that allows you to see the real environment right in front of us with a digital complement superimposed on it. Thanks to Ivan Sutherland’s first display, created in 1968 under the name «Sword of Damocles», paved the way for the development of AR, which is still used today.Augmented reality can be divided into two forms: based on location and based on vision. Location-based reality provides a digital picture to the user when moving through a physical area thanks to a GPS-enabled device. With a story or information, you can learn more details about a particular location. If you use AR based on vision, certain user actions will only be performed when the camera is aimed at the target object.Thanks to advances in technology that are happening every day, easy access to smart devices can be seen as the main engine of AR technology. As the smartphone market continues to grow, consumers have the opportunity to use their devices to interact with all types of digital information. The experience of using a smartphone to combine the real and digital world is becoming more common. The success of AR applications in the last decade has been due to the proliferation and use of smartphones that have the capabilities needed to work with the application itself. If companies want to remain competitive in their field, it is advisable to consider work that will be related to AR.However, analyzing the market, one can see that there are no such applications for future entrants to higher education institutions. This means that anyone can bring a camera to the university building and learn important information. Due to the health benefits associated with the consumption of prebiotic short-chain fructooligosaccharides (sc-FOS) and inulooligosaccharides (IOS), there is increased interest in the use of these compounds in food products. We have developed a new biocatalyst for the production of FOS and IOS by inulin hydrolysis. Endoinulinase from Aspergillus niger Inulinase<sup>® </sup>Novozym 960 (Novozymes) was immobilised on polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) nanofibres and microfibres by hydrophobic interactions. The PHB fibres were prepared by centrifugal spinning. FOS and IOS profiles were determined by ion-exchange chromatography with the Rezex RSO-Oligosaccharide column. The biocatalyst had very good activity and stability after repeated applications. It can be used in biocatalytic membrane reactors for the production of prebiotic oligosaccharides.

Third-party libraries are frequently utilized to save implementation time when developing new software. The significance of libraries in the creation of mobile applications cannot be overstated. Others can use the programmer's library created and shared with the rest of the world in their own projects as a result of your efforts. The purpose of this work is to create a taxi service library for developers using both Android and iOS, using Dart Object-Oriented Programming, Dio, and Retrofit. The programmer's creation of an interface for accessing platform-specific functionality from the library and creating Android and iOS apps from its projects needs to speed up software development. Therefore, the best solution is for the programmer to use it. Flutter is an open-source SDK for developing high-performance and more reliable mobile applications for operating systems like iOS and Android, from a single code base. Moreover, Flutter targets the top mobile operating systems like Android and iOS. When developing a Dart open source project, the common conclusion the programmer always ends up with is to share the produced outcomes with the developer community. In the dart world, the latter should be the least objective. This will quickly enable building an app without having to develop everything from scratch. It provides a solution for GPU rendering and UI, powered by native ARM code.

We are witnessing a digital revolution in geoscientific field data collection and data sharing, driven by the availability of low-cost sensory platforms capable of generating accurate surface reconstructions as well as the proliferation of apps and repositories which can leverage their data products. Whilst the wider proliferation of 3D close-range remote sensing applications is welcome, improved accessibility is often at the expense of model accuracy. To test the accuracy of consumer-grade close-range 3D model acquisition platforms commonly employed for geo-documentation, we have mapped a 20-m-wide trench using aerial and terrestrial photogrammetry, as well as iOS LiDAR. The latter was used to map the trench using both the 3D Scanner App and PIX4Dcatch applications. Comparative analysis suggests that only in optimal scenarios can geotagged field-based photographs alone result in models with acceptable scaling errors, though even in these cases, the orientation of the transformed model is not sufficiently accurate for most geoscientific applications requiring structural metric data. The apps tested for iOS LiDAR acquisition were able to produce accurately scaled models, though surface deformations caused by simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) errors are present. Finally, of the tested apps, PIX4Dcatch is the iOS LiDAR acquisition tool able to produce correctly oriented models.

Background: Intraoral scanning (IOS) technologies have been constantly developed and improved. This systematic review aimed at assessing studies in the recent literature describing factors that influence the trueness of intraoral scans. Methods: Comparative in vitro and in vivo (i.e., interventional and observational) studies that quantitatively assessed the trueness of intraoral scans and that identified factors significantly affecting IOS trueness values were considered eligible for inclusion. The PUBMED and EMBASE databases were searched for articles published in the last two years (from February 2020 to February 2022). Data assessment and extraction were performed according to the guidelines of the PRISMA statement. Results: The present search strategy yielded 13 publications. An initial screening of the publications was performed using abstracts and key words, and after application of exclusion criteria, a total of nine studies were finally identified as eligible to be discussed. Several factors significantly affecting IOS were identified. Conclusions: Studies using current IOS technologies revealed that the device, scanning distance, operator experience, rescanning and post-processing scans, conditions of the preparations and presence of adjacent teeth are factors significantly affecting IOS trueness.

This paper investigates the Lyapunov characterizations of input-to-output stability (IOS) and input-to-state stability (ISS) for nonlinear switched systems. The restriction on the negativity of derivatives of Lyapunov functions is relaxed; additionally, subsystems are not restricted to be ISS/IOS throughout the state space. These problems are overcome by a newly proposed method, which extends multiple Lyapunov functions (MLFs) to an indefinite form. Indefinite multiple Lyapunov functions (iMLFs) are proposed on the basis of an inequality to estimate the upper boundary of the system state. Moreover, we apply the iMLFs method to verify the extended notions of IOS in a switched system. More relaxed sufficient conditions for ISS and IOS are proposed, a simulation experiment is carried out on a numerical example of the system, which demonstrates their effectiveness and superiority.

TikTok has consistently been one of the most used mobile apps worldwide on any mobile operating system. However, despite people’s enjoyment of using the application, there have been growing concerns about the application’s origins and alleged privacy violations. These allegations have become such a big problem that the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, expressed a desire to ban the TikTok application from being offered on US application stores like Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store. This remark sent TikTok users into a frenzy to find alternatives before the ban took effect. To this end, several alternative applications for TikTok have surfaced and are already garnering millions of users. In this paper, we identified three popular alternatives to the TikTok application (Byte, Dubmash, and Triller) and forensically analyzed each on smartphones of Android version 8 and iOS version 13. We focused on identifying forensically relevant artifacts that may be helpful to investigators in the event of a criminal investigation, should these or similar apps fall under scrutiny. We used Magnet AXIOM Process and Cellebrite UFED 4PC for acquisition, and Magnet AXIOM Examine and DB Browser for SQLite for analysis and reading. The investigation resulted in successful extraction of expected yet unique data points, plain text sensitive data, directories and format. These results lead to a discussion about identifying and comparing these app’s privacy concerns to that of TikTok, as formulated from the literature.
