Background: Little data exists regarding the incidence of adverse events and their associated risk factors following intra-articular corticosteroid injection of the ankle and subtalar joint. The aim of this study was to determine the complication rate associated with such injections and to identify any predictive risk factors. Methods: Adult patients who had received an intra-articular ankle or subtalar joint injection between January 2000 and April 2016 at one of 3 regional hospitals (2 level 1 trauma centers and 1 community hospital) were included. Patients with prior intra-articular injection of corticosteroid into the ankle or subtalar joint were excluded. Explanatory variables were sex, age, race, body mass index, diabetes status, tobacco use, presence of fluoroscopic guidance, location of intra-articular injection, and administering physician’s years of experience. Results: Of the 1708 patients included in the final cohort, 99 patients (5.8%) had a total of 104 adverse events within 90 days postinjection. The most prevalent types of adverse events were postinjection flare in 78 patients (4.6% of total cohort, 75% of adverse events) followed by skin reaction in 10 patients (0.6% of total cohort, 9% of adverse events). No infections were noted. Multivariable logistic regression analysis found that intra-articular injection in the subtalar ( P = .004) was independently associated with development of an adverse event. Fluoroscopic guidance was not found to be protective of an adverse event compared to nonguided injections ( P = .476). Conclusion: The adverse event rate following intra-articular ankle or subtalar joint corticosteroid injection was 5.8%, with postinjection flare being the most common complication. Infections following injection were not reported. Injection into the subtalar joint was independently associated with the development of an adverse event after intra-articular corticosteroid injection, and this was not mitigated by the use of fluoroscopic guidance. Level of Evidence: Level III, retrospective comparative study.

Abstract. Fluvial bedrock incision constrains the pace of mountainous landscape evolution. Fluvial erosion processes have been described with incision models that are widely applied in river reach and catchment scale studies. However, so far, no linked field data set at the process scale had been published that allows to assess model requirements and adequacy. Here, we evaluate the predictive power of various incision models on data on hydraulics, bedload transport and erosion recorded on an artificial bedrock slab installed in a steep mountain stream for a single bedload transport event. The influence of transported bedload on erosion rate (the "tools effect") is shown to be dominant while other effects are of minor importance. Hence, a simple temporal distributed incision model in which erosion rate is proportional to bedload transport rate is proposed for transient local studies. This model can be site-calibrated with temporally lumped bedload and erosion data and its applicability can be assessed by visual inspection of the study site. Basic discharge-based models like derivatives of the stream power model family however, are adequate to reproduce the overall trend of the observed erosion rate, at least for the event on hand. This is relevant for long-term studies of e.g. landscape evolution with no interest in transient local behaviour.

Abstract. Quantifying fluxes and pathways of dissolved reactive phosphorus (DRP) in tile-drained landscapes has been hampered by a lack of measurements that are sensitive to P fate and transport processes. One potential tool to help understand these dynamics is the oxygen isotope signature of phosphate (d18OPO4); however, its potential benefits and limitations are not well understood for intra-event dynamics at the field scale. The objectives of this study were to quantify intra-event variability of d18OPO4 signatures in tile drainage water and assess the efficacy of d18OPO4 to elucidate mechanisms and flow pathways controlling DRP transport to tile drains. We collected water samples during a summer storm event from a subsurface (tile)-drained field located in west-central Ohio and analyzed for d18OPO4 of DRP. Supplementary water quality measurements, hydrologic modeling, and soil temperature data were used to help understand intra-event d18OPO4 dynamics. Results of the soil extraction analysis from our study site highlight that the soil water-extractable P (WEP) pool was not in equilibrium with long-term, temperature-dependent water isotope values. This result suggests that P-rich soils may, at least partially, retain their original source signature, which has significant implications for identifying hotspots of P delivery in watershed-scale applications. Results of the storm event analysis highlight that equilibration of leached DRP in soil water creates a gradient between isotopic compositions of pre-event shallow subsurface sources, pre-event deep subsurface sources, and the WEP tied up in surface soils. The current study represents the first intra-event analysis of d18OPO4 and highlights the potential for phosphate oxygen isotopes as a novel tool to improve understanding of P fate and transport in artificially drained agroecosystems. HighlightsNitrogen, total phosphorus, and total suspended solids concentrations were higher in early season inundation.Nitrate concentrations in farmed potholes decreased with multiday ponding.Farmed potholes act as hotspots, contributing P to drainage through surface intakes.Abstract. The prairie pothole region ranges from central Iowa to the northwest into Montana and south-central Canada, totaling around 700,000 km2. This area contains millions of potholes, or enclosed topographical depressions, which often inundate with rainfall. Many are located in areas that have been converted to agricultural land through installation of artificial drainage. However, even with drainage, potholes pond or remain saturated during and after significant rain events. In this two-year study, surface water depth was collected hourly (typically from after planting through harvest) from eight farmed potholes (drained and under corn-soybean rotation) on the Des Moines Lobe in central Iowa. Nutrient data were collected daily and tested for nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) when inundation depth exceeded 10 cm. The data were analyzed in two ways. First, seasonal differences were investigated using samples from the first day of each inundation event. Surface water concentrations were higher in the early growing season than late season for total N (TN), NO3-N, NH3-N, total P (TP), and total suspended solids (TSS). Secondly, average event concentration changes were determined. Nitrate reductions occurred in 85% of multiday events, but these reductions were offset by increases in P. Total P and dissolved reactive P (DRP) had significant increases that averaged 0.51 and 0.46 mg L-1 per event, respectively, with event lengths of 2 to 19 days. This study demonstrates that inundated farmed potholes reduce NO3-N but serve as in-field hotspots, contributing elevated TP and DRP to drainage waters. When a surface intake directly connects inundated farmed potholes to drainage, new strategies, such as field management or engineered technologies, are needed to mitigate P export. This study is useful in informing policy regarding field management and conservation of farmed potholes. Keywords: Farmed wetland, Nitrogen, Nutrients, Phosphorus, Prairie pothole.

Although plot-scale erosion experiments are numerous, there are few studies on constructed landforms. This limits the understanding of their long-term stability, which is especially important for planning mined land rehabilitation. The objective of this study was to gain insight into the erosion processes in a 30 × 30 m trial plot on a mine waste rock dump in tropical northern Australia. The relationships between rainfall, runoff and suspended and bedload sediment export were assessed at annual, seasonal, inter-event and intra-event timescales. During a five-year study period, 231 rainfall–runoff–sediment export events were examined. The measured bedload and suspended sediments (mainly represented in nephelometric turbidity units (NTU)) showed the dominance of the wet season and heavy rainfall events. The bedload dominated the total mass, although the annual bedload diminished by approximately 75% over the five years, with greater flow energy required over time to mobilise the same bedload. The suspended load was more sustained, though it also exhibited an exhaustion process, with equal rainfall and runoff volumes and intensities, leading to lower NTU values over time. Intra-event NTU dynamics, including runoff-NTU time lags and hysteretic behaviours, were somewhat random from one event to the next, indicating the influence of the antecedent distribution of mobilisable sediments. The value of the results for supporting predictive modelling is discussed.

Large-scale cultural events bring many economic, social, and cultural benefits to the hosting cities. Although event producers aim to satisfy the visitors’ needs, they do not usually receive feedback on visitors’ experiences. Moreover, lack of spatial dispersal of visitors might result in less visibility for some activities and locations. An understanding of visitors’ spatial and temporal behavior and the factors influencing visitors’ intra-event destination choices is key to efficient and successful event management and future planning. In this article, we examine the relationship between visitors’ spatial and temporal behavior, the spatial structure of the host city, and visitor characteristics. In order to do this, data are collected from 281 event visitors by means of GPS tracking and paper surveys at the Dutch Design Week (DDW) 2017 event in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Data are used to understand the area of interest locations, visitor flows, visitor clusters and area of interest choices by applying data processing, network analysis, cluster analysis and bivariate analysis. The results show that one of the three dedicated event areas was considerably less popular by the DDW visitors. Moreover, the choice of intra-event destination locations and areas depended mainly on temporal constraints of the visitors. The findings of this study can inform future event planning and management policies in hosting cities.

The present study was carried out to assess the signature neural dynamics as evinced through event-related potential (ERP) responses of the P300 waveform across different inter and intra phoneme consonant classes and to quantify the differential neural dynamical response in real-time. The ERP responses to non-sense three-syllable consonantvowel transitions CVCVCV non-words were recorded on 26 healthy individuals of either sex with an age group of 18–25 years. The first syllable of the non-sense word was always fixed, and the ERP responses of the middle syllable were recorded at the phoneme level, and the ERP responses elicited by the middle syllable were evaluated. The results of the present study documented that different consonant phoneme classes (plosives, fricatives, affricatives, liquids, and nasals) elicited differential neural dynamical responses as observed through the P300 waveform response, exhibiting a significant difference in P300 waveform amplitude across the fricatives vs. nasals experimental design.

We propose a semiparametric multi-state frailty model to analyze clustered event-history data subject to interval censoring. The proposed model is motivated by an attempt to study the life course of dental caries at the tooth level, taking into account the multiplicity of caries states and the intra-oral clustering of observations made at periodic time points. Of particular interest is the study of the intra-oral distribution of processes leading to carious lesions, and whether this distribution varies with gender. The model assumes, in view of the covariate profile, a proportionality of the transition intensities conditional on subject-level frailties, coupled with a linear spline approximation of the log baseline intensities. The model estimation is conducted using a penalized likelihood where the smoothing parameters are estimated as reciprocal variance components under a mixed-model representation. A Bayesian method is proposed to predict tooth-level caries transition probabilities, which can be used for tailoring tooth-level caries treatment and prevention plans. Intensive simulation studies indicate that the model fitting and prediction perform reasonably well under realistic sample sizes. The practical utility of the methods is illustrated using data from a longitudinal study on oral health among children from low-income families residing in the city of Detroit, Michigan.

Isotope data at mid-latitude locations are commonly available on annual, monthly, and daily timescales; however, they are rarely available for the variations occurring on the sub-hourly scale within individual precipitation events. To fill this gap, sub-hourly (every 10 min) sequential samples were collected for nine precipitation events, and the δ18O values of the individual events were analyzed from June to October 2019 in Lanzhou, Northwest China. The Sequential Meteoric Water Line (SMWL) correlation between δ2H and δ18O is δ2H = 7.33 δ18O + 9.78 (R2 = 0.97, N = 170). All events had a similar decreasing variability pattern in the initial period (before the vertical gray dotted line), while during the later period (after the vertical gray dotted line), negative δ18O values dominated, exhibiting a different pattern. Variations in the δ18O values were about 1–5‰ during most intra-events. We found that δ18O values mainly exhibit three patterns in the intra-event, namely a “V”-shaped pattern, an “L”-shaped pattern, and a decreasing pattern. Positive δ18O values are controlled by re-evaporation in the beginning period. Relative humidity has no effect on the δ18O values of precipitation events, mainly because dry and warm conditions are conducive to the evaporation of rainwater in the study region. The changes in the isotopic characteristics of precipitation are closely linked to the regional climate. The continuous analysis of precipitation samples revealed that the rapid change of δ18O values is related to different moisture sources and transport paths. A new air mass with enriched heavy isotope intrusion can change the isotopic composition in the intra-event.

Objective Periprocedural thromboembolic events are a serious complication associated with coil embolization of unruptured intracranial aneurysms. However, no established clinical rule for predicting thromboembolic events exists. This study aimed to clarify the significance of adding preoperative clopidogrel response value to clinical factors when predicting the occurrence of thromboembolic events during/after coil embolization and to develop a nomogram for thromboembolic event prediction. Methods In this prospective, single-center, cohort study, we included 345 patients undergoing elective coil embolization for unruptured intracranial aneurysm. Thromboembolic event was defined as the occurrence of intra-procedural thrombus formation and postprocedural symptomatic cerebral infarction within 7 days. We evaluated preoperative clopidogrel response and patients’ clinical information. We developed a patient-clinical-information model for thromboembolic event using multivariate analysis and compared its efficiency with that of patient-clinical-information plus preoperative clopidogrel response model. The predictive performances of the two models were assessed using area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve (AUC-ROC) with bootstrap method and compared using net reclassification improvement (NRI) and integrated discrimination improvement (IDI). Results Twenty-eight patients experienced thromboembolic events. The clinical model included age, aneurysm location, aneurysm dome and neck size, and treatment technique. AUC-ROC for the clinical model improved from 0.707 to 0.779 after adding the clopidogrel response value. Significant intergroup differences were noted in NRI (0.617, 95% CI: 0.247–0.987, p < .001) and IDI (0.068, 95% CI: 0.021–0.116, p = .005). Conclusions Evaluation of preoperative clopidogrel response in addition to clinical variables improves the prediction accuracy of thromboembolic event occurrence during/after coil embolization of unruptured intracranial aneurysm.

Abstract Annual, monthly, and daily analyses of stable isotopes in precipitation are commonly made worldwide, yet only a few studies have explored the variations occurring on short time scales within individual precipitation events, particularly at midlatitude locations. This study examines hydrogen isotope data from sequential, intra-event samples from 16 precipitation events during different seasons and a range of synoptic conditions over an 18-month period in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Precipitation events were observed simultaneously using a vertically pointing micro rain radar (MRR), which, for the first time at a midlatitude location, allowed high-resolution examination of the microphysical characteristics (e.g., rain rate, fall velocity, and drop size distributions) that may influence the local isotopic composition of rainwater. The range in the hydrogen isotope ratio (δD, where D refers to deuterium) in 242 samples during 16 events was from −87.0‰ to +9.2‰, while the largest variation observed in a single event was 55.4‰. In contrast to previous work, the results indicate that some midlatitude precipitation events do indeed show significant intra-event trends that are strongly influenced by precipitation processes and parameters such as rain rate, melting-level height, and droplet sizes. Inverse relationships between rain rate and isotopic composition are observed, representing an example of a local type of “amount effect,” a still poorly understood process occurring at different scales. For these particular events, the mean δ value may therefore not provide all the relevant information. This work has significance for the testing and development of isotope-enabled cloud-resolving models and land surface models at higher resolutions, and it provides improved insights into a range of environmental processes that are influenced by subsampled precipitation events.

Abstract. A measurement campaign was conducted in the Paris region, focusing on the evolution of chemical composition of wet deposition during rainfall events from sequential sampling. A total of eight rain events were documented and characterized by varying meteorological conditions, atmospheric dynamics, and aerosol particle concentrations representative of urban conditions and influenced by long-range mineral dust transport. The intra-event evolution of the chemical composition of wet deposition revealed the predominant role of meteorological parameters and local sources in the observed mass concentration variability. From selected case studies, the washout ratios (WRs) and scavenging coefficients were quantified by conducting simultaneous measurements of aerosol particle composition and wet deposition. The results highlighted a variability of the WR and scavenging coefficients depending on the rainfall rate and on the chemical species. Scavenging coefficients estimated from WR ranged from 5.4×10-8 to 1.1×10-5 s−1 for chemical elements, and they are within the range of values reported in the literature for 0.2–2 µm particle diameters. Our results pointed out that the scavenging coefficient increases with rainfall rate according to a power law, as previously shown in the literature, indicating a stronger removal of particles from the atmosphere with greater precipitation intensity. Quantitative analysis of the data allowed us to estimate the relative contributions of in-cloud scavenging (ICS) for selected rain events. The ICS relative contributions ranged on average from 23 % to 62 % depending on the rain events, and they varied according to the chemical species within the same rain event. This highlights the variability and complexity of the wet deposition process and the influence of specific factors on the contribution of ICS, such as aerosol particle size and hygroscopicity. Overall, this study highlights the variability of wet deposition and its chemical composition and the need to consider the specificities of each event to fully understand the underlying mechanisms.

The purpose of this study is to estimate the economic value of intra-industry information transfers within Ghana’s banking industry due to the collapse of seven banks. This is a short-term study with an event window [−10, +10] and an estimation period of 200 trading days. The event study methodology is adopted to estimate the cumulative abnormal return (CAR) gained by other rival industry banks as well as to calculate the cumulative average abnormal return (CAAR) for the entire Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE). The results of the study show that the collapse of the seven banks does convey information that the market uses in revising stock prices. However, most of the rival banks experienced an insignificant share price reaction. This insignificant reaction can be attributed to the fact that GSE is not efficient. The study recommended among others, for the GSE to be reformed to improve the efficiency of the market and secure the flow of information to market participants.

Abstract A hallmark of bilingual language processing is intra-sentential code-switching. An emergent body of research seeks to understand the intricate neural and cognitive mechanisms that underlie this seemingly effortless skill. In this paper, we discuss electrophysiological and experimental-behavioral research approaches that have been used to study intra-sentential code-switching, and illustrate the use of these techniques by discussing a select number of empirical studies. More specifically, we discuss electrophysiological approaches that are used to study the comprehension of visually and auditorily presented code-switched sentences, including the Event-Related brain Potentials (ERPs) method, time-frequency analysis, and approaches to study inter-individual variation in electrophysiological response profiles. This is followed by a discussion of experimental-behavioral techniques to study the comprehension and production of code-switched sentences, including self-paced reading, shadowing, and confederate scripting.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and Obstetricians and gynecologists called Intra Uterine Fetal Death are fetuses that die in the womb with a body weight of 500 grams or more or the death of the fetus in the womb at pregnancy 20 weeks or more. IUFD is included in perinatal problems which is one of the health indicators, so this is very sensitive because it deals with maternal and perinatal health. IUFD is one of the causes of perinatal death (Saefudin, 2010). This study aims to determine the relationship between age and parity with Fetal Death Intra-Uterine Events in Raden Mattaher General Hospital Jambi in 2019. This study is an analytic case control study. Population of this study The population in this study was divided into two groups, namely the case group was the Fetal Death Intra-Uterine Incidence in 2018 as many as 44 people and the control group was not with the Intra Uterin Fetal Death Event in 2018. Samples were as many as 88 people were taken by total sampling technique. This research was conducted at Raden Mattaher Hospital in Jambi in May 2019. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate using the chi square test. The results showed that 57 respondents (64.8%) were at risk and as many as 53 respondents (60.2%) had no risk of parity. There is a relationship between age (p value = 0.002, OR = 4.929) and parity (p value = 0.191, OR = 1957) with Intra Uterine Fetal Death with p-value <0.05. There is a significant correlation between age and LBW incidence and there is no relationship between Parity and Intra-Uterine Fetal Death. This study aims to examine the spillover effect of right offerings to the industry on the Indonesian Stock Exchange in the period 2009-2016. This study is designed using event study methodology. In total, there are 96 issuing companies (issuers) and 1205 non-issuing companies (non-issuers) used as the sample which was obtained using a purposive sampling technique. The test for information content on the right issues was conducted using standard t-test on the average cumulative abnormal return of issuers and non-issuers in the period t-10 to t+10 around the issuance. The research found positive abnormal returns for issuers in t0 to t+4 but did not confirm the spillover effect to non-issuers over the observed (window) periods. The average cumulative abnormal returns are randomly distributed during the window period. These results confirm the absence of intraindustry effect of right issues on the non-issuers’ performance

The central part of the Namaqua Metamorphic Province was subjected to intense deformation under high-grade metamorphic conditions up to granulite facies, but also shows greenschist facies overprints denoting the metamorphic nature during the 1.2–1.0 Ga Namaquan Orogeny. This study examines the structural development of the central Kakamas Domain of the eastern Namaqua Metamorphic Province, which has not been extensively studied previously. The compressional orogenic phase is associated with D1 and D2 deformation events during which northeast–southwest-directed shortening resulted in southwest-directed thrusting illustrated by an intra-domain thrust and southwest-verging isoclinal folds. The post-tectonic Friersdale Charnockite of the Keimoes Suite is emplaced during the D3 deformation event. Late reactivation of the intra-domain thrust in the Kakamas Domain to form the Neusspruit Shear Zone during the D4 event is of a monoclinic nature and is described as a deeply rooted structure with shear direction towards the east. This structure, together with the more local Neusberg Thrust Fault, forms part of an intensely flattened narrow basin in the eastern Namaqua Metamorphic Province. Strain and vorticity indices suggest a transpressional shearing across the Neusspruit Shear Zone and adjacent regions probably initiated during the reactivation of the intra-domain thrust. The ~1.2 to 1.8 km-wide, northwest–southeast striking dextral-dominated Neusspruit Shear Zone constitutes a western regional boundary for the supracrustal Korannaland Group and is composed of steep, narrow zones of relatively high strain, characterised by ductile deformation and penetrative strain.

My doctoral study was focussed on women’s activities and practices in community organizations. In this paper, I revisit “the hug,” a fieldwork event (understood in the Deleuzian sense as something—a situation or a problem—that provokes thought) recreating it as a pedagogical event in relation to emerging Deleuzo–Guattarian and new materialist qualitative (QI) pedagogies. The effect of the hug event demonstrates the potential productivity of emerging QI pedagogies, and implications for what intra-active QI pedagogies might produce for researchers, and the research community at large.

The isotopic composition of precipitation provides valuable information about its source and transportation. However, raindrops interact with vegetation before reaching the earth’s surface, leading to isotopic changes in the infiltrating water. Comparing isotopic composition between rainfall and throughfall helps to understand canopy processes and their impact on isotopic variation. Based on observational data collected during the periods of July 2019, July–August 2020, and July–August 2021 in a planted forest located in the southwest monsoon region of China, this study examines hydrogen and oxygen isotopes in rainfall and throughfall at event and intra-event scales, and investigates the effects of pre-event precipitation (PEP) on the isotopic composition. The results indicate that during the initial stage of precipitation, δ18O was enriched in rainfall and it presented a dilution effect gradually, while the d-excess exhibits a low initial value followed by an increasing trend. The difference in δ18O between throughfall and rainfall initially increased and subsequently converged around 0, whereas the difference in d-excess experiences a decreasing phase, followed by an increasing phase, and finally a decreasing phase. Canopy interception led to a lag effect during the early stage of precipitation; the forest exhibited higher water vapor content compared to open land in the intermediate stage, which reduced the degree of non-equilibrium fractionation in throughfall, and the flow pathway enhanced in the later stage. Evaporation processes become more prominent as precipitation intensity weakens. The rainfall and throughfall were influenced by distinct meteorological factors in different precipitation events, and the role of the forest canopy varied across different precipitation periods. PEP was found to augment the intercept and slope of the linear relationship between the H-O isotopic composition of throughfall and rainfall. This pre-event effect also contributes to heightened fluctuations in the δ18O and d-excess values during subsequent precipitation events. The findings contribute to understanding water dynamics, vegetation interception, and mechanisms governing water input in forested areas during precipitation events, which provides valuable insights for analyzing factors influencing water movement in forest ecosystems.

The need to arrange the assistance beforehand and therefore prepare for the prevention of damage to people and property that may result from accidents or events of considerable magnitude occurring inside the University Hospital, “A. Gemelli,” has led to several laws of the Constitution of the Italian Republic (Article 35), the Criminal Code (Articles 437 and 451), and the Civil Code (Article 2087): The law of Feb 12, 1955, #51 (Official Gazette 54, March 7, 1955); Decree 547 of April 27, 1955 “Regulations for the prevention of industrial accidents” and Decree 302 of March 19, 1956.The study of these assistance procedures has led to the formulation of an emergency plan divided into two basic parts: prevention of accidents, and rescue operations.By prevention we mean: a) The training of all staff and Managing Bodies of our Faculty/Staff to take effective action in the case of an intra-hospital accident, b) The need for detailed information on the various procedures to be used depending on the gravity of the event, c) Awareness of the civil and criminal responsibilities relating to the various management and non-management levels in case of emergency. The training plan for the whole staff, approved by the management administrative, technical and medical bodies, consists of theoretical and practical courses. These courses, which started in June 1983 are “modular.” The staff will take part in them as homogeneous groups, for a period of time which will vary, in regard to the number of hours and kind of instruction, and in relation to what each group has to learn about work safety, fire prevention and emergency measures.

AbstractWe report the first-ever basin-wide geomorphological characterization of a high-resolution bathymetry map in a steeply incised valley-occupying intra-mountainous lake in the Eastern Alps. The resulting new geomorphological map of Lake Hallstatt is then combined with high-resolution reflection seismic and sedimentary core analyses to document, characterize and date recent (<200 years) subaquatic landslides. The area is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape of the Hallstatt–Dachstein area, famous for its well-documented medieval and prehistoric human settlement history. This allows us to calibrate observed mass-transport deposits (MTDs) in the high-resolution sedimentary archive (sedimentation rates c. 0.5 cm a−1) of this deep lake dominated by clastic sedimentation. The hydro-acoustic data document a multitude of different MTDs linked to rock falls, subaqueous slope failures and shore collapses. Sediment cores document laminated background sediments intercalated with distinct event deposits that can be linked to historically documented major flood events and moderately strong earthquakes. Our study suggests that the larger MTDs result from earthquake-triggered subaquatic delta slope instabilities and that the deeper subsurface provides evidence of even larger mass-movement processes, yet to be validated by longer cores. Thus, Lake Hallstatt is a potential natural laboratory for studying causes and consequences of subaquatic landslides in steeply incised intra-mountainous lakes and comparable fjord settings.

Frequent cortical arousal is associated with cardiovascular dysfunction among people with sleep-disordered breathing. Changes in heart rate variability (HRV) can represent pathological conditions associated with autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Previous studies showed changes in cardiac activity due to cortical arousals. However, few studies have examined the instantaneous association between cortical arousal and HRV in an ethnically diverse population. In this study, we included 1,069 subjects’ full night ECG signals from unattended polysomnography in the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis dataset. An automated deep learning tool was employed to annotate arousal events from ECG signals. The etiology (e.g., respiratory, or spontaneous) of each arousal event was classified through a temporal analysis. Time domain HRVs and mean heart rate were calculated on pre-, intra-, and post-arousal segments of a 25-s period for each arousal event. We observed that heart rate and HRVs increased during the arousal onsets in the intra-arousal segments, regardless of arousal etiology. Furthermore, HRVs response to cortical arousal occurrence differed according to gender and the sleep stages in which arousal occurred. The more intense HRVs variation due to arousal in females can contribute to a potentially stronger association between arousal burden and long-term mortality. The excessive abrupt sympathetic tone elevation in REM caused by arousal may provide insights on the association between sleep and sudden cardiac death.

AbstractOff-road running continues to grow in popularity, with differing event categories existing, and terminologies are often used interchangeably and without precision. Trail running, mountain running, skyrunning, fell running, orienteering, obstacle course racing and cross-country running all take place predominantly in off-road terrain. Ultramarathon running refers to any running event over marathon distance conducted in any terrain and surface. Although some overlap may exist between these running events, mainly through the common denominator of off-road terrain, distinct features need to be recognised. As scientific interest in these activities grows, it becomes important to clarify these terms and develop a universal language for discussing these events. Similarly, off-road running athletes are generally not properly defined within the scientific literature, which makes intra- and inter-study comparisons difficult. The current position statement of the Ultra Sports Science Foundation highlights the different off-road running events and recommends clear reference to distance, surface, elevation change and altitude, type of event (continuous vs. staged), type of support, name and year of the event, governing body, and guidance on terminology. We further recommend to describe off-road running athletes by basic data, physiological determinants, training and competition characteristics in the scientific literature in order to facilitate and guide further research and practice.

The present study aimed to explore the variability of the arm-stroke temporal descriptors between and within laps during middle-distance swimming event using IMMUs. Eight male swimmers performed a 200-m maximum front-crawl in which the inter-lap and intra-lap variability of velocity, stroke rate, stroke-phases duration and arm-coordination index were measured through five units of IMMU. An algorithm computes the 3D coordinates of the wrist by means the IMMU orientation and the kinematic chain of upper arm biomechanical model, and it recognizes the start events of the four arm-stroke phases. Velocity and stroke rate had a mean value of 1.47 ± 0.10 m·s−1 and 32.94 ± 4.84 cycles·min−1, respectively, and a significant decrease along the 200-m (p < 0.001; η2 = 0.80 and 0.47). The end of each lap showed significantly lower stroke rate compared to the start and the middle segment (p < 0.05; η2 = 0.55). No other significant inter-lap and intra-lap differences were detected. The two main findings are: (i) IMMUs technology can be an effective solution to continuously monitor the temporal descriptors during the swimming trial; (ii) swimmers are able to keep stable their temporal technique descriptors in a middle-distance event, despite the decrease of velocity and stroke rate.

Combined therapy of osteoarthritis (OA) includes intra-articular injections of hyaluronic acid. A prospective observational multicenter noncomparative study was conducted in compliance with routine clinical practice in patients with knee OA IIII stages in order to assess 1-year long-term safety and efficacy of Hylan G-F 20 (Synvisc-One, one injection of 6 mL). Patients came for observation at 3, 6, and 12 months after intra-articular injection of Hylan G-F 20. The primary objective of the study was evaluation of pain severity while walking and rest by using the WOMAC VA3.1 (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index) scale after 26 and 52 weeks compared to baseline. Quality of life was measured by EQ-5D (EuroQuality of Lifefive dimensions); patients general condition was measured by PTGA (Patient Global Assessment) and COGA (Clinical Observer Global Assessment). Results of the study were based on data of 121 patients (79.51% women, 21.49% men), mean age 62.97 12.47 years. Positive clinical response was observed in 12 months (52 weeks) after Hylan GF-20 administration: pain severity versus baseline was decreased by 48.92% (p 0.001) as per WOMAC A, stiffness in the joints versus baseline by 49.72% (p 0.001) as per WOMAC B, difficulties in the daily life versus baseline by 41.54% (p 0.001) as per WOMAC C. Seven adverse events were detected in five patients (4%), and one serious adverse event (cardiovascular abnormalities) was noticed during the entire study that was unrelated to the study drug. The extent of clinical response did not correlate with the stage of osteoarthritis. The quality of life was improved by 35.28% (p 0.001) according to the questionnaire EQ-5D. The general condition of the patients was improved by 37.50% (p 0.001) as per COGA and 42,86% (p 0.001) as per PTGA. No patients were discontinued the study due to adverse event or any other reasons. Intra-articular injections of Hylan G-F 20 6 mL were associated with acceptable safety and efficacy, and the therapeutic effect was observed up to 52 weeks.

The southwest monsoon of 2002 has three unusual features viz., (i) delay in advance over westernmost parts of India by one month, (ii) absence of depressions/storms over Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea and (iii) -51% departure of all India rainfall in July. These features of intra-seasonal variability have been studied in this paper. Apparent heat source (Q1) and apparent moisture sink (Q2) over Indian region have been estimated using daily NCEP-reanalysis data, for June - September 2002 to study the intra-seasonal variations of the secondary heat sources in relation to observed intra-seasonal variations of circulation and rainfall over India. The intensities of vertically integrated heat source < Q1 > and moisture sink < Q2 > are found to coincide with the excess rainfall zone over India in June 2002, whereas the intensities of < Q1 > and < Q2 > over central parts of the country in July 2002 are not comparable. This indicates absence of convective rainfall and increased sensible heating over India in July. The x-t diagram of heating and drying rates at 500 hPa along 22.5° N shows large positive heating and drying rates of the order of 16° C per day over the western trough region around 26 June. Following this event, low positive or negative values are observed over central India in July. The y-t diagram of vertical velocity at 500 hPa shows strong subsidence near the foot hills of Himalayas during the season. This has affected the formation of depressions or storms over Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. Adiabatic and diabatic heating as well as drying in the troposphere has led to the break-like situation over India in July 2002 and weaker monsoon circulation during August and September. The analysis has brought out the impact of northern hemispheric mid-latitude circulation on intra-seasonal variability of southwest monsoon 2002 more clearly.

Ground motion models (or “attenuation relationships”) describe the probability distribution of spectral acceleration at an individual period, given a set of predictor variables such as magnitude and distance, but they do not address the correlations between spectral acceleration values at multiple periods or orientations. Those correlations are needed for several calculations related to seismic hazard analysis and ground motion selection. Four NGA models and the NGA ground motion database are used here to measure these correlations, and predictive equations are fit to the results. The equations are valid for periods from 0.01 seconds to 10 seconds, versus similar previous equations that were valid only between 0.05 and 5 seconds and produced unreasonable results if extrapolated. Use of the new NGA ground motion database also facilitates a first study of correlations from intra- and inter-event residuals. Observed correlations are not sensitive to the choice of accompanying ground motion model, and intra-event, inter-event, and total residuals all exhibit similar correlation structure. A single equation is thus applicable for a variety of correlation predictions. A simple example illustrates the use of the proposed equations for one hazard analysis application.

e16133 Background: Combination treatment with an immune checkpoint inhibitor and an anti-VEGF antibody is recommended as the standard care for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the efficacy of systemic therapy is less than satisfactory in BCLC stage C. Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with systemic therapy may synergistically improve patients’ clinical outcomes and obtain survival benefits. Intra-arterial infusion of Sintilimab and Bevacizumab has not been assessed previously. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of TACE combined with the intra-arterial infusion of Sintilimab and Bevacizumab in patients with BCLC stage C HCC. Methods: This prospective, single-arm phase II study recruited 16 patients with advanced HCC. Main inclusion criteria: aged ≥ 18 years; a confirmed HCC (BCLC stage C) based on the ALSLD with either pathological or imaging findings; no previous systemic/locoregional anticancer treatment; Child-Pugh score ≤7; ECOG performance status: 0-1. Patients were treated with TACE (30-40mg of pirarubicin, 30-40mg of lobaplatin, and lipiodol) plus Sintilimab (200mg, intra-arterial infusion, d1, Q3W) and Bevacizumab (7.5mg/kg, intra-arterial infusion, d1, Q3W) for four cycles, followed by maintenance therapy with Sintilimab (200mg, intravenously, d1, Q3W) and Bevacizumab (15mg/kg, intravenously, d1, Q3W) to a maximum total cycle of eighteen unless any evidence of disease progression or unacceptable side effects. The primary endpoint was objective response rate (ORR) (assessed with mRECIST v1.1) and the secondary endpoints included disease control rate (DCR), time to progress (TTP), progression-free survival (PFS), duration of response (DOR), overall survival (OS) and safety. Drug safety was investigated according to CTCAE (version 5.0). Results: From September 2021 to December 2022, 16 patients with a median age of 52 years (range:38 -73) were enrolled. 12 (75%) patients with HBV infection and 6 (38%) with extrahepatic metastasis. 14 (88%) patients were classified as Child-Pugh A class. With a median follow-up of 5.4 months (range 3.9-14.3), the ORR was 63% (95%CI, 36.4%- 84.8%) with 3 CR and 7 PR per mRECIST v1.1, and the DCR was 69% (95%CI, 41.3%-89.0%). The median PFS was not reached. Adverse events in 31% of 16 patients were hypertension (3, 19%), fatigue (1, 6%), and proteinuria (1, 6%). The most common adverse event of grade 3 was hypertension (2, 13%). There were no treatment-related serious adverse events. Conclusions: TACE combined with the intra-arterial infusion of Sintilimab and Bevacizumab as the first-line strategy for advanced HCC patients (BCLC stage C) demonstrated a promising value by improving ORR, with acceptable side effects. Osteoarthritis is the leading cause of chronic disability affecting more than 80% of people over the age of 55. Several treatment options are there for early Osteoarthritis (OA) knee, like- rest, ice, brace, NSAIDs, intra-articular corticosteroid, Intra-Articular Hyaluronic Acid (IAHA), and intra-articular platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection. Growth factors in PRP (PDGF, IGF, VEGF) promote matrix synthesis, cell growth, and migration, thus facilitating protein transcription. Several studies regarding PRP injection in the management of OA knee support this line of management without any documented complications of PRP at the knee joint. We report 4 cases of acute inflammation related to PRP injection for the treatment of OA knee. Two patients developed mild inflammation which was treated with oral medication on an outpatient basis. Another two patients developed moderate to severe inflammation which warranted surgical intervention.Intraarticular PRP injection has been reported in the literature as a successful modality of treatment in OA knee without any significant adverse effect. We are reporting four cases of adverse events following intraarticular PRP injection. Two cases were mild inflammations while the other two were moderate to severe. All four patients recovered and the outcome was satisfactory compared to the pre-injection status. The exact cause for the reaction after PRP injection in the knee is not known. Further study is needed for the cause of the inflammatory reaction.

Second, it is an intra-industry information transfer test that examines information content of the announcement of rights issue by non-issuers firm. Two-first tests verify the significance of abnormal return obtained by issuers firm and non-issuers firm through t-test. Third, it is a regression test, which is to examine the influence of variable of bid-ask spread and variable of relative size of rights issue – as independent variables to variable of non-issuers firm’s abnormal return – as dependent variable. The samples of this study consist of 32 issuers firm and 149 non-issuers firm. All of them are the members of manufacturing firm listed in Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) in the period of 1997-2002. This study uses purposive sampling method. The window period is ten days surrounding of the announcement of rights issue (-5, 0, +5). The event date is the listing date of rights issue in JSX.The results of this study are as follows. First, there is information content for the announcement of rights issue that is shown with the existence of marginally significant negative abnormal return obtained by issuers on t-1. This result confirms Marsden (2000). Second, there is an evidence about intra-industry information transfer – there is a significantly positive abnormal return on t-3 and a significantly negative abnormal retun on t+4. Both of them show the existence of contagion effect because the direction of issuers firms and non-issuers firm’s abnormal return on t-3 and t+4 (when the intra-industry information transfer exists significantly) is equal. It shows that commonality industrial factors have the role in this research. The negative intra-indutry information transfer confirms Szewczyk (1992). Third, there is not a significantly influence for variable of bid-ask spread and variable of relative size of rights issue to variable of non-issuers firm’s abnormal return.

SUMMARY Considering spatial correlation of multiple earthquake intensity measures (IMs) is of particular importance in loss assessment of spatially distributed assets. This subject has been investigated in previous studies under the assumption of isotropy. Considering the fact that the assumption of isotropy is not valid in general, the present study employs a non-separable covariance model based on latent dimensions method to investigate anisotropic properties of spatial correlations and cross-correlations of intra-event residuals of multiple earthquake IMs. This method leads to the generation of valid covariance matrix in order to model anisotropic spatially distributed multivariate random fields. Two sets of IMs are considered in this study; the first set consists of peak ground intensity values (acceleration, velocity, and displacement), and the second set consists of spectral accelerations at three different periods. Data of 10 earthquake events in California and Japan are utilized in this study to estimate parameters of marginal and cross-covariance models. Moreover, parameters of covariance model of regional site condition, which is considered as average shear wave velocity of top 30 m of soil profile (Vs30), are obtained in order to investigate the effect of local sited conditions on spatial correlations of IMs. It is shown that maximum range and anisotropy ratio of covariance models of intra-event residuals of IMs are correlated with those of Vs30 values. Also, it is observed that the anisotropy direction of residuals of IMs is consistent with anisotropy direction of Vs30 values. Finally, predictive models are proposed to obtain marginal and cross-covariance functions for different earthquake IMs considering anisotropy.

Purpose Recent spacecraft attitude control systems tend to use wireless communication for cost-saving and distributed mission purposes while encountering limited communication resources and data exposure issues. This paper aims to study the attitude control problem with low communication frequency under the sampled-data. Design/methodology/approach The authors propose constructive control system structures based on quantization and event-triggered methods for intra-spacecraft and multi-spacecraft systems, and they also provide potential solutions to shield the control system's data security. The proposed control architectures can effectively save communication resources for both intra-spacecraft and multi-spacecraft systems. Findings The proposed control architectures no longer require sensors with trigger-ing mechanism and can achieve distributed control schemes. This paper also provides proposals of employing the public key encryption to secure the data in control-loop, which is transmitted by the event-triggered control mechanism. Practical implications Spacecraft attempts to use wireless communication, yet the attitude control system does not follow up promptly to accommodate these variations. Compared with existing approaches, the proposed control structures can save communication resources of control-loop in multi-sections effectively, and systematically, by rationally configuring the location of quantization and event-triggered mechanisms. Originality/value This paper presents several new control schemes and a necessary condition for the employment of encryption algorithms for control systems based on event-based communication.

The purpose of this paper is to determine the liquidity spillover effects of trades executed in European sovereign bond markets and to assess the driving factors behind the magnitude of the spill-overs between different markets. The one minute-frequency limit order-book dataset is constructed from mid-2011 until end-2017 for sovereign bonds from the six largest euro area countries. It is used for the event study and panel regression model. The event study results revealed that liquidity spill-over effects of trades exist and vary highly across different order types, direction and size of the trade, the maturity of traded bonds, and various markets. The panel regression model showed that less liquid bonds and bonds whose issuer is closer by distance to the country of the traded bond have more substantial spillover effects and, at the same time, are also more affected by trades executed in another market. These results should be of interest to bond market participants who want to limit the exposure to the liquidity spillover risk in bond markets.

The intra-hospital transfer of critically ill patients are associated with complications at up to 70%. Numerous issues can be avoided with optimal pre-transport planning and communication. Simulation models have been demonstrated to be an effective method for modeling processes and enhancing on-time service and queue management. Discrete-event simulation (DES) models are acceptable for general hospital systems with increased variability. Herein, they are used to improve service effectiveness. A prospective observational study was conducted on 13 official day patient transfers, resulting in a total of 827 active patient transfers. Patient flow was simulated using discrete-event simulation (DES) to accurately and precisely represent real-world systems and act accordingly. Several patient transfer criteria were examined to create a more realistic simulation of patient flow. Waiting times were also measured to assess the efficiency of the patient transfer process. A simulation was conducted to identify 20 scenarios in order to discover the optimal scenario in which where the number of requests (stretchers or wheelchairs) was increased, while the number of staff was decreased to determine mean waiting times and confidence intervals. The most effective approach for decreasing waiting times involved prioritizing patients with the most severe symptoms. After a transfer process was completed, staff attended to the next transfer process without returning to base. Results show that the average waiting time was reduced by 21.78% which is significantly important for emergency cases. A significant difference was recorded between typical and recommended patient transfer processes when the number of requests increased. To decrease waiting times, the patient transfer procedure should be modified according to our proposed DES model, which can be used to analyze and design queue management systems that achieve optimal waiting times.

IntroductionThe Woven EndoBridge (WEB) represents a novel intrasaccular therapeutic option for the treatment of intracranial wide-necked bifurcation aneurysms (WNBAs). The WEB-IT Study is a pivotal Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) study to determine the safety and effectiveness of the WEB device for the treatment of WNBAs located in the anterior and posterior intracranial circulations. We present the patient demographics, procedural characteristics, and 30-day adverse event data for the US WEB-IT study.MethodsWEB-IT is a prospective multicenter single-arm interventional study conducted at 25 US and 6 international centers. The study enrolled 150 adults with WNBAs of the anterior and posterior intracranial circulations. All patients were intended to receive a WEB device delivered via standard endovascular neurosurgical embolization techniques. The study was conducted under Good Clinical Practices and included independent adjudication effectiveness outcomes and all adverse events.ResultsOne hundred and fifty patients enrolled at 27 investigational sites underwent attempted treatment with the WEB. Mean age was 59 years (range 29–79) and 110 (73.3%) of the patients were female. Treated aneurysms were located at the basilar apex (n=59, 39.3%), middle cerebral artery bifurcation (n=45, 30%), anterior communicating artery (n=40, 26.7%), and internal carotid artery terminus (n=6, 4%). Average aneurysm size was 6.4 mm (range 3.6–11.4) with a mean neck size of 4.8 mm (range 2.0–8.2, mean dome to neck ratio 1.34). Nine patients presented with ruptured aneurysms. Of the enrolled patients, 98.7% were treated successfully with WEB devices. Mean±SD fluoroscopy time was 30.2±15.7 min. One primary safety event (PSE) (0.7%)—a delayed parenchymal hemorrhage 22 days after treatment—occurred between the index procedure and 30-day follow-up. In addition to the single PSE, there were seven (4.7%) minor ischemic strokes (5 resolved without sequelae and 2 had a modified Rankin Scale score of 1 at 30 days), five (2.7%) transient ischemic attacks, and two (1.3%) minor subarachnoid hemorrhages, which did not meet the prospectively established criteria for PSEs.ConclusionsThe WEB device can be used to treat WNBAs with a high level of procedural safety and a high degree of technical success.Trial registration numberNCT02191618; Pre-results.

Abstract The influence of teleconnections on the Intra-Americas Sea (IAS; Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea) has been mostly analyzed from the perspective of El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on the Caribbean Sea (the latter being an extension of the tropical North Atlantic). This emphasis has overlooked both 1) the influence of other teleconnections on the IAS and 2) which teleconnections affect the Gulf of Mexico climate variability. In this study the different fingerprints that major teleconnection patterns have on the IAS during boreal spring are analyzed. Indices of teleconnection patterns are regressed and correlated to observations of oceanic temperature and atmospheric data from reanalyses and observational datasets. It is found that the Pacific teleconnection patterns that influence the IAS SSTs do so by affecting the Gulf of Mexico in an opposite manner to the Caribbean Sea. These analyzed Pacific climate patterns are the Pacific–North American (PNA) teleconnection, the Pacific decadal oscillation (PDO), and ENSO. The North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) is related to a lesser degree with the north–south SST anomaly dipole than are Pacific teleconnection patterns. It is also found that the IAS influence from the midlatitude Pacific mostly affects the Gulf of Mexico, whereas the influence from the tropical Pacific mostly affects the Caribbean Sea. Therefore, the combination of a warm ENSO event and a positive PNA event induces a strong IAS SST anomaly dipole between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea during spring. By calculating an index that represents the IAS SST anomaly dipole, it is found that the dipole forms mostly in response to changes in the air–sea heat fluxes. In the Gulf of Mexico the dominant mechanisms are the air–sea differences in humidity and temperature. The changes in shortwave radiation also contribute to the dipole of net air–sea heat flux. The changes in shortwave radiation arise, in part, by the cloudiness triggered by the air–sea differences in humidity, and also by the changes in the convection cell that connects the Amazon basin to the IAS. Weaker Amazon convection (e.g., in the event of a warm ENSO event) reduces the subsidence over the IAS, and henceforth the IAS cloudiness increases (and the shortwave radiation decreases). This study contributes to a greater understanding of how the IAS is influenced by different Pacific and Atlantic teleconnections.

Alveolo-pleural fistula remains a serious post-operative complication in lung cancer patients after surgery, which is associated with prolonged hospital stay and higher healthcare costs. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a polyglycol acid (PGA)-sheet known as Neoveil in preventing post-operative air-leak in cases of detected intra-operative air-leak after lung resection. Between 11/2021 and 7/2022, a total of 329 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients were surgically treated in two institutions. Major lung resections were performed in 251 cases. Among them, 44 patients with significant intra-operative air-leak at surgery were treated by reinforcing staple lines with Neoveil (study group). On the other hand, a historical group (selected by propensity score matched analysis) consisting of 44 lung cancer patients with significant intra-operative air leak treated by methods other than the application of sealant patches were considered as the control group. The presence of prolonged air-leak (primary endpoint), pleural drainage duration, hospital stay, and post-operative complication rates were evaluated. The results showed that prolonged air-leak (>5 days after surgery) was not observed in study group, while this event occurred in four patients (9.1%) in the control group. Additionally, a substantial reduction (despite not statistically significant) in the chest tube removal was noted in the study group with respect to the control group (3.5 vs. 4.5, p = 0.189). In addition, a significant decrease in hospital stay (4 vs. 6 days, p = 0.045) and a reduction in post-operative complications (2 vs. 10, p = 0.015) were observed in the study group when compared with the control group. Therefore, in cases associated with intra-operative air-leak after major lung resection, Neoveil was considered a safer and more effective aerostatic tool and represents a viable option during surgical procedures.

A handover strategy is required to ensure connection continuity for cellular network users due to user mobility. Handovers on the same frequency (intra-frequency) and handovers on other frequencies (inter-frequencies) are conceivable in the Intra Radio Access Technology network. The network must be able to give the best quality and optimal bandwidth so that consumers can keep their connection. Most cells have more than one bandwidth channel. A test was performed in this study to determine the influence of priority handover on intra-frequency LTE handover on signal strength and throughput. This study is based on actual measurement findings from the deployed 4G LTE network transceiver device, which contains several carriers for each eNodeB. TEMS Pocket, a mobile gadget, was used to collect data for measurements. For analysis purposes, the parameters RSRP, throughput, frequency band, serving cell identification or PCI (Physical Cell Identity), and event handover are employed. In the inter-frequency LTE handover, there are two priority handovers: handovers from lower bands to higher bands (high priority) and handovers from higher bands to lower bands (low priority). When a low-priority handover happens, the RSRP value and throughput increase, while a high-priority handover causes the RSRP value to decrease.

The present study is conducted to see how an IPO event affects the existing firm's performance within the same industry. For this purpose, 88 IPO firms were examined from Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) from 1998-2016. IPO is examined from three major perspectives IPO proceeds, initial returns and time Lag between IPO listing date and IPO subscription. The study uses Buy and Hold Abnormal Returns (BHAR) and Cumulative Abnormal Returns (CAR) to calculate competitor's abnormal returns. To calculate the operating performance of competitors, the Wilcoxon significance test was applied. IPO intra-industry effects are significant in the long run, whereas insignificant results are shown in the short run. In addition, IPO proceeds and abnormal returns are significant but negatively related to competitors' stock returns (long term). Moreover, Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI) finds IPO improves competitiveness in the industry environment. This present study is an important one from an emerging economy perspective.

Interhemispheric differences of the N100 latency in visual evoked potentials have been used to estimate interhemispheric transfer time (e.g., Saron & Davidson, 1989). Recent work has also suggested that the P300 component could reflect the efficacy of interhemispheric transmission (Polich & Hoffman, 1998). The purpose of the present study was to study the differential role of the corpus callosum (CC) and anterior commissure (AC) in the interhemispheric propagation of these two electrophysiological components. Thus, the amplitude and latency distribution of the N100 and P300 components were analyzed using high-density electrical mapping in a subject with agenesis of CC but preservation of AC, a subject with agenesis of both CC and AC, and 10 neurologically intact control subjects. The task consisted of a modified visual oddball paradigm comprising one frequent and two rare stimuli, one presented on the same and the other on the opposite side of the frequent stimulus. Interhemispheric differences in latency were found for the N100 component in controls. However, in the acallosal subjects, this component was not identifiable in the indirectly stimulated hemisphere. In controls, no interhemispheric differences were observed in the distribution of the P300 latency and amplitude to rare and frequent stimuli. The distribution of the P300 amplitude in the acallosal subject with an AC was identical to that of the controls, whereas in the acallosal subject lacking the AC, the amplitude was greater in the hemisphere receiving the frequent stimuli, regardless of the visual hemifield in which the rare stimuli were presented. In both acallosal subjects, hemispheric differences in the P300 latency were observed, the latencies being shorter in the hemisphere directly stimulated for all categories of stimuli. These results suggest that the interhemispheric transfer of both the N100 and P300 components relies on the integrity of cortical commissures. Possible P300 generator sources are discussed.

No injection treatment has been proven to be effective in wrist osteoarthritis. When conservative measures fail, its management involves invasive surgery. Emergence of biotherapies based on adipose derived stem cells (ADSC) offers promising treatments for chondral degenerative diseases. Microfat (MF) and platelets-rich plasma (PRP) mixture, rich in growth factors and ADSC could be a minimally invasive injectable option in the treatment of wrist osteoarthritis. The aim of this uncontrolled prospective study was to evaluate the safety of a 4 mL autologous MF-PRP intra-articular injection, performed under local anesthesia. The secondary purpose was to describe the clinical and MRI results at 12 months of follow-up. Patients’ data collected were: occurrence of adverse effects, Visual analog scale (VAS), Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand score (DASH) and Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE) scores, wrist strength, wrist range of motion and 5-level satisfaction scale. No serious adverse event was recorded. A statistically significant decrease in pain, DASH, PRWE and force was observed at each follow-up. Our preliminary results suggest that intra-articular autologous MF and PRP injection may be a new therapeutic strategy for wrist osteoarthritis resistant to medical symptomatic treatment prior to surgical interventions.
