This paper is an effort to overcome a major obstacle to a creative system orientation in international relations—a dearth of knowledge about system-level change. To accomplish this goal two tasks are necessary. First, building upon earlier contributions, a new definition of international system is offered and its essential properties—structure, process, equilibrium, stability—are discussed. The second requirement is to create a new approach to crisis and to forge links between its unit and system levels, the focus of the rest of the paper. This, in turn, will facilitate the analysis of crises as catalysts to system change, that is, as international earthquakes.

We found that one system could not work separate without another. Experts from public health system are incorporated into the military structure which provides efficient technical support and logistics. Through such a system we can cooperate in international projects.

This article attempts to advance the neoclassical realist framework by elaborating on the interaction between system-level and unit-level factors in the formation of states’ behavior. With an empirical focus on post-Cold War China–Russia relations, which represent the ambivalent combination of a consistently growing strategic entente and a simultaneous reluctance to form a full-fledged political-military alliance, this study establishes two major unit-level factors – differing economic models and negative historical memories – that create hurdles for alliance formation between the two countries. However, under greater systemic pressure from the US-led unipolarity, China’s and Russia’s state leaders have not only increased bilateral military-to-military cooperation but have begun to actively implement policies to deliberately transform, if not remove, the existing non-systemic hurdles. Therefore, the neoclassical realist framework can be understood and further tested as a dynamic interaction model in which the unit-level circumstances, while moderating the causal impact of the system, are themselves being transformed by the system via state policies, as is their impact on states’ foreign policy.

The relation between the units and the readings of time and space coordinates of the terrestrial and the barycentric frames is discussed from the viewpoint of general relativity. Attention is paid to the unit of space coordinates since the International Astronomical Union (IAU) regulates only the unit of time coordinate in the above two frames. Two definitions on unit of length are examined and their effects on the numerical expression of coordinate transformation, equations of planetary motions, and those for light propagation time are discussed. A clear conflict is found between the IAU(1976) recommendation on the definition of the time-scales in different frames and the statement that all constants in the IAU(1976) new system of astronomical constants are defined in terms of the international system of units (SI units). In order to dissolve this conflict, one of the two examined definitions on unit of length is proposed to be adopted, which requests the least alteration on the current procedures to analyze the astrometric observations such as radar/laser rangings, range and range-rate measurements, and very long baseline interferometric observations. An interpretation of numerical values in the IAU(1976) system of astronomical constants is also presented. It is stressed that the definition proposed in this paper requires that a slightly different formula from the current one be used in the numerical transformation of coordinates between the terrestrial and the barycentric frames.

AbstractAir Canada managed to have a passenger aircraft run out of fuel in mid-air due to confusion about metric units (Stephenson in Mars climate orbiter mishap investigation board phase I report, NASA, 1999), and NASA lost an entire spacecraft due to a misunderstanding amongst engineers about the units used in the propulsion system design (Witkin in Jet’s fuel ran out after metric conversion errors, The New York Times, 1983). Measurements only make sense if the units are correct and well-defined. A unit of measurement is a definite magnitude of a quantity, defined by convention or law. Any other quantity of that kind can then be expressed as a multiple or submultiple of the unit of measurement. The Egyptians used the Farao as definite magnitude, while many years later, the french revolutionists introduced the earth as a reference and laid the foundations for the modern decimal system. Since recently, we have a truly universal and stable system that uses physics’s natural constants and laws to define the base units of measurement. This paper explains how this new concept works and how it is implemented in practice.

Purpose International bodies, such as the Financial Action Task Force , have mandated the use of financial intelligence units (FIU) to address organized crime and money laundering. The purpose of this paper is to examine Canada’s FIU, the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC), and explore its current effectiveness and future challenges. Design/methodology/approach This paper examines FIUs in general and then looks more specifically at Canada’s FIU, its policy and legislative basis as well as future challenges for the FIU. Findings The challenge money laundering poses to society is a mirror of the challenge that organized crime poses: a test of the values and the importance of rule of law. The FIU is an important mechanism to address this challenge generally, and there are important changes in the environment that must be addressed if the future policy objectives of the FIU are to be met. Research limitations/implications Some of the policy nostrums that are baked into the anti-money laundering system, such as placement, layering and integration, need to be revisited and researched to incorporate changes in the licit and illicit marketplaces. Practical implications Financial institutions and other intermediaries must comply with domestic anti-money laundering laws. Compliance is always contextual, and this paper will outline the role of the regulator and the environmental challenges that need to be met. Social implications Effectively addressing money laundering and organized crime is critical to the maintenance of rule of law and the protection of the financial system. Originality/value This is a brief but very fulsome review of Canada’s FIU, FINTRAC, which captures broader challenges in addressing money laundering, economic crime and regulatory systems designed to protect rule of law and the integrity of the financial system. The paper not only examines the current state of the FIU but also explores challenges on the horizon.

The situation that has developed in the International System of Units (SI) as a result of adopting the recommendation of the International Committee of Weights and Measures (CIPM) in 1980, which proposed to consider plane and solid angles as dimensionless derived quantities, is analyzed. It is shown that the basis for such a solution was a misunderstanding of the mathematical formula relating the arc length of a circle with its radius and corresponding central angle, as well as of the expansions of trigonometric functions in series. From the analysis presented in the article, it follows that a plane angle does not depend on any of the SI quantities and should be assigned to the base quantities, and its unit, the radian, should be added to the base SI units. A solid angle, in this case, turns out to be a derived quantity of a plane angle. Its unit, the steradian, is a coherent derived unit equal to the square radian.

Since 1889, the international prototype of the kilogram has served to define the unit of mass in what is now known as the International System of Units (SI). This definition, which continues to serve mass metrology well, is an anachronism for twenty-first century physics. Indeed, the kilogram will no doubt be redefined in terms of a physical constant, such as the Planck constant. As a practical matter, linking the quantum world to the macroscopic world of mass metrology has, and remains, challenging although great progress has been made. The international prototype or, more likely, a modern ensemble of reference standards, may yet have a role to play for some time after redefinition, as described in this paper.

This article theorizes Waltz's ‘third image,’ international system structure, through feminist lenses. After briefly reviewing International Relations (IR) analysis of the relationship between anarchy, structure, and war, it introduces gender analysis in IR with a focus on its theorizing of war(s). From this work, it sketches an approach to theorizing international structure through gendered lenses and provides an initial plausibility case for the argument that the international system structure is gender-hierarchical, focusing on its influence on unit (state) function, the distribution of capabilities among units, and the political processes which consistently govern unit interaction. It outlines the implications of an account of the international system as gender-hierarchical for theorizing the causes of war generally and wars specifically, with a focus on potentially testable hypotheses. The article concludes with some ideas about the potential significance of a theorizing gender from a structural perspective and of theorizing structure from through gendered lenses.

Expressing the amount of a catalyst is often most conveniently done by assessing its catalytic effect. Under zero-order kinetics the catalyzed rate of conversion for a specified reaction is constant and proportionate to the amount-of-substance concentration of catalyst present. Defining the kind-of-quantity "catalytic activity" as a property of the catalyst measured by the catalyzed rate of conversion, the coherent SI unit is mole per second. Following thorough discussions in the IUPAC, the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC), the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB), and the World Health Organization (WHO), a petition was presented by the IFCC to the International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM) on a special name "katal", symbol kat, for "mole per second" when used in measuring catalytic activity. This request was granted by the General Conference for Weights and Measures (CGPM) by Resolution 12 (1999). Hereafter, the coherent SI unit katal = 1 mol s­1 should replace the off-system IUB unit "(enzyme) unit" = 1 mmol min­1 16.67 nkat. Thus, by suitable definition of reaction conditions, results for catalytic activity and derivative kinds-of-quantity are metrologically traceable to the SI.

We are developing setups for radiation measurement exercises based on those new developments. Those system is portable to carry. In Osaka University, we are organizing schools for radiation measurements inviting Southeast Asian students. In addition, we are organizing schools in Southeast Asia. Compact system helps us to carry.

AbstractThis article advances the understanding of ‘hedging’ in international politics by highlighting and examining the limits to smaller powers’ hedging behavior. Building on the line of reasoning that hedging is an outcome of regional or state-level, rather than system-level, variables, the article suggests that the room for hedging available to smaller states shrinks as great powers become more competitive and attempt to balance against one another. With an empirical focus on the post-Cold War South China Sea region, particularly the evolving behavior of the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia, the article demonstrates how, under the conditions of growing China–US competition, these regional states start moving from hedging to more pronounced bandwagoning vis-à-vis great powers regardless their domestic-level sociopolitical dispositions. Therefore, hedging has limits and can be envisaged as a ‘luxury’ that is inversely related to the intensity of great power balancing.

The term "project financing" is often used to describe all types of project financing, but in recent years it has evolved towards a more precise definition, so that it implies the financing of a particular economic unit in which lenders are comfortable to rely initially on the cash flow and income of these economic units, which the loans will be repaid from, and on the property of that economic unit as collateral for the given loan. Project funds can be adequately used to finance the defense system. They generally fall into the category of development priorities and usually enjoy numerous benefits (primarily tax and customs benefits) provided by the host country of a project, which generally generates more income for participants in project financing than when it comes to conventional credit. The BOT model for financing infrastructure projects has a number of potential benefits and it is an effective alternative in many countries with a more traditional approach to using government borrowing or state budget, with the government retaining strategic control over the project which will become public sector property.

If emerging markets are to achieve their objective of joining the ranks of industrialized, developed countries, they must use their economic and political influence to support radical change in the international financial system. This working paper recommends John Maynard Keynes's "clearing union" as a blueprint for reform of the international financial architecture that could address emerging market grievances more effectively than current approaches. Keynes's proposal for the postwar international system sought to remedy some of the same problems currently facing emerging market economies. It was based on the idea that financial stability was predicated on a balance between imports and exports over time, with any divergence from balance providing automatic financing of the debit countries by the creditor countries via a global clearinghouse or settlement system for trade and payments on current account. This eliminated national currency payments for imports and exports; countries received credits or debits in a notional unit of account fixed to national currency. Since the unit of account could not be traded, bought, or sold, it would not be an international reserve currency. The credits with the clearinghouse could only be used to offset debits by buying imports, and if not used for this purpose they would eventually be extinguished; hence the burden of adjustment would be shared equally - credit generated by surpluses would have to be used to buy imports from the countries with debit balances. Emerging market economies could improve upon current schemes for regionally governed financial institutions by using this proposal as a template for the creation of regional clearing unions using a notional unit of account.

PurposeThe purpose of the paper is to identify and discuss the transport service triad (TST) as a key unit of analysis to understand the operations and conditions for change in freight transport systems at the micro level, i.e. at the level of analysis where business decisions and change interaction take place.Design/methodology/approachThe theoretical framing is rooted in the IMP approach and in the literature on triads. A case study approach is used to illustrate the TST by analyzing a case involving a wholesaler of installation products, tools and supplies, a main construction company and a transport service provider.FindingsThe paper shows how the connections between the business relationships in the TST, influenced by connections to relationships outside the triad, impact on the efficiency in freight transport. The paper illustrates how analysis of TSTs can be applied in micro-level studies of change in freight transport systems and in supply networks.Research limitations/implicationsThe triadic approach is instrumental to understand change in the transport system because it includes all relevant parties and relationships of concern, as well as the logic framing of their actions. However, while arguing that TSTs are generic to their nature, each TST is unique and needs to be identified and analyzed in its specific context.Practical implicationsThe suggested framework may contribute to an understanding of the embeddedness of transport services in supply/business networks. The framework may support the development of new ways of operating and creating value for customers and offering sustainable transport solutions.Originality/valueFrom the transport policy makers’ perspective, micro-level analysis is important to understand behavioral adjustments to new policies.

AbstractThe third-generation meteorological satellites equipped with highly-improved imagers provide a huge amount of Earth observation data. Himawari-8 is the first unit of the Japan Meteorological Agency’s third generation of geostationary satellites. After its starting operation in 2015, there are several websites that provide remotely sensed images in real time. However, it is hard to develop a real-time and full-resolution website, due to the large amount of data to be handled. Himawari-8 real-time web is only one website that provides full-resolution remotely sensed images in real time. To reduce network traffic and increase the access speed of it from other countries out of Japan, mirror websites of each country are needed. In this paper, we propose a cost-effective mirroring system for the Himawari-8 real-time web. A mirroring model is introduced to avoid the problem of big data processing in the mirror websites. We adopt a file copy tool based on high-performance and flexible protocol (HpFP) to transfer meteorological satellite data from the Himawari-8 real-time web to the mirror websites. Our first target is Thailand, one of the most disaster-prone countries in South-East Asia. The mirror website is set up at an institution in Thailand connected via collaborative international networks, e.g., Japan Gigabit Network (JGN) and Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN). The results show that the proposed mirroring system is able to overcome the big data issue by reducing the central processing unit (CPU) usage in the mirror website and transferring remotely sensed image files at high speed over international networks even under packet loss conditions. This suggests that our mirroring system has a potential for deployment in other Asian and Oceanian countries.

This paper presents the development of an airflow monitoring system for air handling units using NodeMCU ESP32. The main purpose of this project is to improvise the use of microcontroller with on-par performance for industrial applications. This proposed system consists of two sensors that measure airflow from the air handling unit. The first sensor is an airflow speed, which measures the airflow speed from the air handling unit. The second sensor detects and indicates the temperature and humidity of the airflow. The testing parameters show very good correlations among variables, indicating the efficiency of the system to monitor the airflow. One of the most pervasive trends in the global airport industry in recent times has been the adoption of green renewable technologies. Many airports around the world have now installed photovoltaic (PV) solar systems as a key environmental measure. One of the critical areas of energy management at an airport is the provision of power and cooling at the gate, which is used during the aircraft turnaround process. Historically, the aircraft auxiliary power unit (APU) was the primary power source during the aircraft turnaround process. In recent times, airports have transitioned to the use of fixed electrical ground power (FEGP) and preconditioned air to mitigate the emissions from use of aircraft auxiliary power unit (APUs). Based on an instrumental case study research approach, this study has examined how Moi International Airport in Kenya has mitigated the airport’s carbon footprint by using a green, renewable energy system. The study’s qualitative data was examined by document analysis. The case study revealed that Moi International Airport has installed a photovoltaic (PV) solar system with a 500kW capacity that is used to primarily provide solar power at the airport’s apron area. The photovoltaic (PV) solar system has delivered Moi International Airport with an important environmental related benefit as it has enabled the airport to reduce it carbon footprint, as the photovoltaic (PV) solar system has reduced the airport’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by an estimated 1,300 tonnes per annum.

This article defines the essence of collective investment institutions, analyses the experience of joint investment institutions in various countries. It is marked that the effectiveness of the activities of mutual investment institutions depends directly on the legal regulation of their activities, the establishment of a clear legal regime of activity of investment funds and companies in the securities market. Given the evolution of legal regulation of co-investment institutions in Ukraine, the experience of other countries in this field is interesting and useful. The formation of separate national markets for joint venture investment services took place under completely different historical conditions, under different legal regimes and types of financial systems. The analysis of the activities of joint venture institutions abroad shows that there are different models of joint venture institutions. If in the US the most popular way of investing is to buy shares of mutual funds (or open-end in-vestment companies) and, in addition, to close closed-end investment companies, in the UK, the former were the so-called unit trusts (or unit trusts), and the second - investment funds. The investment sphere of the German economy is very specific in comparison with other countries. This is due to the special role of the banks that they play in it. It is worth noting that the positive factors of legal regulation become effective only if an effective system of joint investment institutions and a favorable investment climate in the country are created. It is important to ensure state support for existing and newly created joint investment institutions, especially in the field of introducing the most preferential taxation system. Third, the creation of conditions that would encourage individual investors to participate in the investment fund. First of all, it is about creating mech-anisms for guaranteeing the rights of participants of joint investment institutions.

It is shown here that five base quantities (and the corresponding five base units) of nature are sufficient to define all derived quantities (and their units) and to describe all natural phenomena. The base quantities (and their base units) are: length (m), mass (kg), time (s), temperature (K) and electric charge (C). The amount of substance (mole) is not taken as a base quantity of nature and the Avogadro constant is not considered as a fundamental constant of nature, as they are both based on an arbitrary definition (due to the arbitrary value of 0.012 kg for the mass of 1 mole of C-12 isotope). Therefore, the amount of substance (mole) is moved from the list of base quantities to the category of the supplementary units (to be re-created after its abrogation in 1995). Based on its definition, the luminous intensity (cd) is not a base quantity (unit), therefore it is moved to the list of derived quantities (units). The ampere and coulomb are exchanged by places in the list of base and derived units, as ampere is a speed of coulombs (but SI defines meter, not its speed as a base unit). The five base quantities are re-defined in this paper by connecting them to five fundamental constants of nature (the most accurately known frequency of the hydrogen atom, the speed of light, the Planck constant, the Boltzmann constant and the elementary charge) with their numerical values fixed in accordance with their CODATA 2006 values (to be improved by further experiments).

Politeknik Penerbangan Palembang sebagai unit kerja yang bertugas memberikan pelatihan bidang aviasi yang melalui kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat melaksanakan Pelatihan Safety Management System kepada 25 peserta dengan berlatar belakang pekerjaan berbeda dari UPBU Gusti Syamsir Alam yang berlokasi di Kabupaten Kotabaru Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan. Pelatihan ini diberikan dengan metode ceramah, project-based learning, dan presentasi kelompok. Pelatihan memberikan peningkatan pemahaman di bidang Safety Management System dengan hasil perolehan ujian komprehensif dengan 84.96 sebagai nilai rata-rata. 36% peserta berhasil lulus dengan predikat memuaskan, dan 64 % dengan predikat Baik.

Abstract Background: The “unit” for “enzymic activity” (U = 1 μmol/min) was recommended by the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUB) in 1961 and is widely used in medical laboratory reports. The general trend in metrology, however, is toward global standardization through defining units coherent with the International System of Units (SI). Approach: Several proposals were advanced from the IFCC, International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, and IUB regarding the definition for enzymic activity as well as the terms for kind-of-quantity, units, symbol, and dimension. In 1977, international agreement was reached between these bodies and WHO that “catalytic activity” (z), of a catalyst in a given system is defined by the rate of conversion in a measuring system (in mol/s) and expressed in “katal” (symbol, kat; equal to 1 mol/s). The katal is invariant of the measurement procedure, but the numerical quantity value is not. Gaining support for the katal from the final arbiter, the General Conference on Weights and Measures, was slow, but Resolution 12 of 1999 adopted the katal (symbol, kat) as a special name and symbol for the SI-derived unit, mol/s, used in measuring catalytic activity. Conclusions: Laboratory results for amounts of catalysts, including enzymes, measured by their catalytic activity can now officially be expressed in katals and are traceable to the SI provided that the specified indicator reaction reflects first-order kinetics. The conversion from “unit” is: 1 U = 16.667 × 10−9 kat. Further derived quantities have coherent units such as kat/L, kat/kg, and kat/kat = 1.

Abstract Nowadays, due to the social and economic changes, the human is already the main resource which determines the successfulness of corporations. The expertise in managing the human resources is a key factor of competitiveness therefore it has become a strategic question. Primary aim of the treatise is to outline the most important principles, targets and peculiarities of performance management system, which is a central element of human resource management, as well as its interconnectedness with the individual performance evaluation and human resource development through the mirror of one of today’s biggest Hungarian economic corporations. We aimed to explore, by means of document analysis as well as methods of case study and interview, how the targets of performance management are used for increasing the economic productivity, preserving the competitiveness, retaining and enhancing the satisfaction of workers. It can be stated that the PM system was continuously improved in case of the organization examined because the corporate goals and the expected performances were adjusted to the changing market demands over time but, at the same time the goal of differentiation has remained unchanged. Each worker evaluates his/her performance individually, the base of which is the extent of contribution to the corporate results. Based on the results, it can overall be stated that such a well-functioning performance management system is applied in the operating unit of the corporation examined which is strongly supported by the organizational culture and which contributes to the joint fulfilment of personal as well as organizational goals.

The subjects of the research are the transformation of the international financial architecture resulting from the internationalization of some currencies of the BRICS countries, mainly the yuan; the position of the BRICS currencies in the world monetary system; and a possibility of creating a common payment unit in the context of collective currencies, cryptocurrencies and similar monetary and financial products. Based on the correlation analysis of the dynamics of the BRICS currency quotations, the paper expresses a hypothesis about a possibility of concluding a monetary union and creating a common BRICS currency. The purpose of the research was to develop the principles of creating a common payment unit for the BRICS countries both for mediation of international economic relations and for wider international circulation. Based on the methods of analogy, comparative analysis, plotting and statistical forecasting, it is proved that the BRICS currency cannot be built on the cryptocurrency principles. It is stated that emission of the BRICS currency as a cryptocurrency will lead to the anarchy of currencies, which will naturally create conditions for the destruction of the monetary union, elimination of the new currency and preservation of the dollar dominance in the global monetary system. The novelty of the research findings lies in obtaining a formula for calculating the amount of the new BRICS currency needed for international circulation. The theoretical significance of the research is the development of a methodology for establishing the exchange rate of the collective currency for the BRICS countries. The practical importance of the research findings is manifested by determining a potentially new BRICS exchange rate in relation to the currencies of the leading countries, plotting the BRICS currency exchange rate trends to predict the limits of currency fluctuations in accordance with the scenarios from the most optimistic to the most pessimistic.

Abstract Continuous adaptation of international standards for medical devices requires recurrent modification of test benches. A universal control unit using an open software environment is presented to simplify the maintenance of various test benches. Our developed control unit is equipped with a Raspberry Pi 4, with standard communication interfaces and application-specific electronic assemblies. The software is based on Node-RED, a browser-based editor. A measuring setup was adapted for a flow perfusion system. Our control unit simplifies the handling of the flow perfusion system by controlling a hydraulic pump and all required valves. A software programmed PID algorithm adapts the speed of the pump to adjust the pressure automatically. Actuators like proportional pinch valves are handled to control volumetric flow and pressure within the circulation. Consequently, the user directly observes changes inside the system. The measured data are stored and are available for documentation.

<p>The international law order is the first in which we can observe the use of mediation as a legal institution. The mediation activity conducted by the United Nations is a model for contemporary legal entities. The entity is characterized by a multitude of normative regulations and undertaking informational and promotional actions in the field of mediation. The areas of action of the United Nations include interventions in political, international and domestic disputes, trade disputes, and internal disputes thus determine the UN’s promediation activities in three spheres of activity: 1) mediation activities under the direction of the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs. It involves mediation with the UN Secretary-General as a mediator. The conduct of mediation is aimed at resolving international and domestic disputes; 2) activities of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), Working Group II: Arbitration and Conciliation / Dispute Resolution. It is the UN unit specialising in the use of mediation to settle trade disputes in a variety of entities; 3) the United Nations is an organization which employs tens of thousands of people of various nationalities, cultures and operating in different areas. This area is within the Ombudsman’s responsibility as part of mediation services. The entity deals with the internal environment of the organization, resolves disputes, including those through mediation between UN employees.</p>

Major contrasts have been identified, suggesting that system size, industry maturity and the nature of market demand impacts upon the choice of system governance structure. Generally, less mature and smaller networks rely upon predominantly single unit franchising strategies and less sophisticated HRM practices to foster local market innovation, build brand value and support rapid unit growth, while predominantly company owned strategies are favoured in environments of low competition and minimal demand uncertainty. In comparison, more mature systems use hybridised franchising forms and sophisticated HRM strategies to accommodate the competing demands of local market innovation, systemwide adaptation and system uniformity.

Abstract The Swine Calorimeter Unit (SCU) is being developed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The objective of the SCU unit is to be able to determine net energy (NE) of diets and ingredients fed on an ad-libitum basis to group-housed pigs in all phases of production. The SCU allows for calculating NE based on the indirect calorimetry procedure. There are 6 calorimetry chambers in the SCU. Each chamber is made air-tight by means of a gasketed surface, measures 1.8 × 2.1 × 2.7 m, has fully slatted floors, and a volume of 10.2 m3, with capacity to hold 4 to 10 growing-finishing pigs depending on size. There are manure screens and urine pans under the slatted floors. Each chamber is equipped with a fresh air supply system (Fantech, Lenexa, KS, and Accutrol LLC, Monroe, CT). Humidity and temperature in each chamber is controlled by a regulator unit (Parameter, Black Mountain, NC). The precision for maintenance of the temperature can be controlled with an accuracy of ± 0.1°C and relative humidity (RH) ±0.5%. These levels of precision are ensured by the use of a dew point control system. To measure the gas exchange in the chambers, the Classic Line system developed by Sable Systems International is used (Sable System International, North Las Vegas, NV). The air subsample first enters the methane analyzer, then the CO2 analyzer, and as the last step the oxygen analyzer. The gas analyzers provide readings in percentage units with high resolution (0.00001 to 0.01%) depending on gas concentrations. Those values are obtained in a determined period of time to be able to calculate total heat production from each chamber. Based on the study of some Brazilian cases submitted to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, this article aims to identify proposals to overcome common Latin- American challenges in the implementation of international recommendations. In the first part, in a retrospective analysis, several emblematic Brazilian cases and their domestic impacts and changes are addressed. In a second part, with a prospective view guided by the domestic contributions to which the Inter-American System is oriented, highlights the current system’s challenges. At this stage, proposals to overcome challenges are outlined, especially regarding the obstacles to implement the Commission’s recommendations, where the main results of the article arise. The reason for this study stands on the conviction that the compliance with international recommendations is the element that guarantees the exercise of the transformative potential of Human-Rights Systems. With the methodological research based on a bibliographical research and case law, the role of the Inter-American Commission is redesigned in the light of a dialogical triad composed by the organs of the International System, the States constitutionalism and organised civil society.

The business model answers an important business question about its value and effectiveness. The relationship of the business model with the quality management system (QMS) of the organization expands its ability to create a competitive business unit. If the organization's quality management system complies with international standards (ISO), then the level of competitiveness of a given business unit can be defined as international. Integration processes taking place in socio-economic relations provide for a significant role of standards in the activities of organizations that meet world standards. By creating a chain of interconnection of business models with the QMS, it is possible to increase the international and global level of sustainability of business units, as well as the territories in which they are located. The consequence of these processes is the increase in the efficiency of the implementation of development strategies and the reduction of risks caused by the loss of economic security.

State equations in the mathematical model of dynamic behaviour of multihull floating unit This paper concerns dynamic behaviour of multihull floating unit of catamaran type exposed to excitations due to irregular sea waves. Dynamic analysis of multihull floating unit necessitates, in its initial stage, to determine physical model of the unit and next to assume an identified mathematical model. Correctly elaborated physical models should contain information on the basis of which a mathematical model could be built. Mathematical models describe mutual relations between crucial quantities which characterize a given system in time domain. The dynamic analysis of multihull unit was performed under assumption that the unit's model has been linear and exposed to action of irregular sea waves. Mathematical model of such dynamic system is represented by state equations. The formulated equations take into account encounter of head wave which generates symmetrical motions of the unit, i.e. surge, heave and pitch. For solving the equations the following three wave spectra were taken into consideration: - ISSC (International Ship Structures Congress) spectrum - Pierson-Moskowitz spectrum - Paszkiewicz spectrum.

The Education Management Information System (EMIS) in the TVET field is a system for collecting, storing, analysing, disseminating and using data in the TVET. The metho­dological framework for developing a system of indicators for the Education Management Information System (EMIS) in the TVET field should be guided by recognized world standards, guidelines and best practices. At the same time, it should be built on a consensus basis with national standards, which are the key to the generation and use of well-structured metadata in the TVET field. As an example of effectively functioning global Education Mana­gement Information System (EMIS) in the TVET field, the Open Education Management Information System (OpenEMIS), namely its OpenEMIS Concept Note module – TVET, the CTE National Reporting System and Workforce Training System – CTE Statistics, developed by the United States Institute of Education (IES) and published by Federico Mejer should be cited. The Interagency Vocational Education and Training Group (IAG-TVET), which includes global educational organizations, has developed guidelines for a set of indicators to help countries evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of their TVET systems based on actual data and the use of reliable tools to evaluate TVET monitoring. IAG-TVET has identified four relevant po­licy areas in the TVET system: funding; access and participation; quality; relevance. Based on the recommendations of the above guidelines, the author has developed a system of indicators for the Education Management Information System (EMIS) in the field of TVET, which will be included in the form of the information and analytical unit "TVET System" in the Automated Information Complex of Educational Management (AICOM) of the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Educational Analytics". The system of indicators includes: the register of TVET institutions, the results of the admission campaign and training, teaching staff, logistics facilities, architectural accessibility, profitable economic activity, the creation of an innovative educational environment, the use of ICT in the educational process. The information and analytical unit "TVET System" should be institutionalized with databases of other official bodies of Ukraine, for example, with databases of the State Statistics Service, the State Employment Service etc. The data contained in the Information and Analytical Unit "TVET System" must be compatible with other international databases and allow the construction of international indicators in the TVET system.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a practical method to elicit – in a manner grounded in fact – the “as is” supply chain strategy that a business unit currently has in place. It also proposes a framework to represent the supply chain strategy of a business unit in a clear and actionable manner. Design/methodology/approach A framework to represent the supply chain strategy of a business unit was developed through inductive theory generation. A method to elicit the current, “as is” supply chain strategy of a business unit was developed through collaborative management research projects and validated by several third-party projects. Findings In different projects – many conducted by third parties – the method was found to be a useful approach to elicit the “as is” supply chain strategy of a business unit. Practitioners found value in representing a supply chain strategy as a conceptual system serving as a logical bridge between the overall strategy and the supply chain operations of the business units. Research limitations/implications The proposed framework may have limited scalability beyond a single business unit. The proposed method may be less useful when the supply chain strategy is undergoing a dramatic transformation, or when the participants from the company are either not fully engaged in the exercise or knowledgeable about the strategic rationale behind activities. Originality/value The paper provides an innovative approach to tap into the tacit knowledge of the organization to reveal the patterns of decisions underpinning its current supply chain strategy and to characterize the supply chain strategy of a business unit as a conceptual system.

The role of Global Mindset for individual’s qualities which enable leaders to influence people and organizations from different cultures is evidently important for leadership effectiveness in diversity contexts. While leadership is considered as one of the key competences to predict organizational excellence, its developmental process can start from a young age. Therefore, it is important to develop Global Mindset for young people. However, studies on global mindset in educational context are rare to find in comparison to that in organizational context. Indonesian educational system has been enriched with schools which are characterized by globally oriented education system known as SPK (Collaborative Education Unit) since the last decade. The objective of this study is to compare global mindset level of high school students from international school (SPK) and national school (SPN-National Education Unit) in Greater Jakarta area. A global mindset scale was delivered to 132 students (N SPK = 59; SPN= 73). The independent sample t-test statistic was used and a significant difference of Global Mindset level between SPK and SPN students was found. The score of SPK Students is consistently higher than SPN students, both in general and dimensional levels. While presenting the Global Mindset profiles of both educational contexts, predetermining factors are discussed; in addition, recommendations about school curriculum and atmosphere to develop students’ Global Mindset are provided.

In the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College, Surat, Gujarat, we were forecasting the course of COVID-19 wave in Surat city and Surat District using modeling techniques. It was during this activity that we became acutely aware that there was an unmet need of big data collection and analysis, especially at State level.

The paper is presenting a system derived for the automation of the acoustical and vibration measurements. The evaluation of noise emitted by an object by measuring the acoustic intensity according with the ISO 9614-3:2002 international standard requires displacement of the probe on spatial trajectories with constant speed and maintaining the spatial orientation of the probe. In a previous work a robot was design by the authors for performing this task, including a unit with 3 translations and an orientation unit with 2 rotations. The practical tests of the first system shown high difficulties in maintaining the constant speed due to the robot dimensions and inertia. Also the noise produced by the translational units during scanning was too high. The system is improved by adding 1 degree of freedom at the orientation unit, reduction of noise and new software version. The new mechanical structure is presented in this paper.
