Повний текст джерелаLand-water interfaces face escalating threats from climate change and human activities, necessitating systematic observation to comprehend and effectively address these challenges. Nevertheless, constraints associated with the presence of water hinder the uninterrupted observation of submerged and emerged areas. Topo-bathymetric lidar remote sensing emerges as a suitable solution, ensuring a continuous representation of landwater zones through 3D point clouds and 1D waveforms. However, fully harnessing the potential of this data requires tools specifically crafted to address its unique characteristics. This thesis introduces methodologies for extracting environmental knowledge from topobathymetric lidar surveys. Initially, we introduce methods for classifying land and seabed covers using bi-spectral point clouds or waveform features. Subsequently, we employ deep neural networks for semantic segmentation, component detection and classification, and the estimation of water physical parameters based on bathymetric waveforms. Leveraging radiative transfer models, these approaches alleviate the need for manual waveform labeling, thereby enhancing waveform processing in challenging settings like extremely shallow or turbid waters

Esta pesquisa pretende avaliar a interface de um dos maiores portais brasileiros de notícias, o Terra. Considerou-se, para tal estudo, a sua proposta de navegação sem divisão por editorias e a personalização de conteúdo. Em 2014, a companhia de comunicação lançou o que chamou, à época, de "Novo Terra", no qual investiu na transformação do design gráfico, na disponibilização de notícias baseadas no perfil de leitor e na expansão de negócios digitais. Os estudos de interface indicam a importância do design na construção de websites, melhorando a experiência do usuário. Logo, propõe-se um estudo de caso fundamentado por categorias do webjornalismo e por princípios heurísticos do design. A dissertação é composta pela apresentação das mudanças do Terra (referenciando-as com outros portais e webjornais e contextualizando-as com o momento em que vive o jornalismo), entrevista semi-estruturada com responsável pela pesquisa e desenvolvimento da interface e aplicação de teste de usabilidade com dois grupos: usuários e especialistas. A avaliação mede a satisfação dos participantes e aponta problemas e potencialidades do portal Terra.
Abstract : This research aims to study the interface of one of brazillian s largest news portal: Terra. For that matter, the study considers the website s proposal of navigating without editorial division and content personalization. In 2014, the referred company launched the so called Novo Terra , investing in graphic design innovation, availability of subjects accordingly to the reader s profile and expansion of digital business. The interface researches point to the important role of design for enhancing the reader s experience on a new website. Therefore, the proposition is to start a case study based on web journalism categories and heuristic design principles. The thesis consists of three phases: presenting the changes adopted on Terra (crossing those informations with other portals and online news sites, as well as putting them into context with the present moment experienced by journalism), a semi-structured interview with the person in charge of developing the new interface and the application of an usability test among specialists and users. The evaluation highlights the participant s satisfaction, but mainly serious problems that block or impair navigation on Terra. Finally, solutions to these problems are presented.

Повний текст джерелаEstuaries are complex and heterogeneous areas, subject to many anthropogenic activities, which can have strong filtering capacities during transport and processing of terrestrial matter to coastal zones. The cycling of silicon (Si), which is essential for the growth of diatoms constituting the basis of healthy food webs, is coarsely defined at these interfaces (Dürr et al. , 2011). This thesis aims to study the benthic Si cycle in the two main estuaries of the Bay of Brest. To address the interactions of scales and to integrate them in flux estimates spatial heterogeneity and tidal variations of benthic Si cycle were quantified and compared with seasonal variations along estuaries. In order to study the interactions between the different cycles of matter (N, P, C, Si) controlling the functioning of coastal ecosystems, the interactions between Si and P have been explored and appear to favor the retention of P. Finally, the benthic cycle of Si was studied using a diagenetic model to estimate deposition fluxes, that are difficult to estimate directly in estuaries, and to evaluate the retention and recycling of Si at a seasonal scale. This first contribution to the study of the Si cycle in the estuaries of the Bay of Brest offers many opportunities in terms of experimental studies and modelling, whether from the perspective of an integrative model of the land-sea interface in the Bay of Brest, or from the implementation of a generic model of the Si cycle in continental margins

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis focuses on tangible user interfaces (TUI). The first part of this manuscript is about tangible interaction on tabletop. We first introduce TUIs and tabletops. We validate an hypothesis about the specialization of the form of the tangible objects, and conclude from that consequences on TUIs design. We propose the solution of a button box to deport some operations in the context of tabletop TUI. We present the construction and development of a transportable and low cost tabletop TUI system that allows rapid TUI prototyping. We end pointing out the special features of user experiments of TUIs. The second part of this manuscript deals with an application case of a TUI for geoscience: GeoTUI. We start presenting the context of the geophysicists work and their need in term of new way of interation. We present the results of our design of a TUI for geoscience. We detail the development of our prototype. To finish, we present two user experiments we conducted to validate our design choices

Повний текст джерелаMastering gas fluxes from the soil to the atmosphere is important for several high-stakes societal issues. Measuring and extrapolating these fluxes is a complex exercise due to their spatial and temporal variability. This variability is related to the many, often intertwined, processes that control the transport of gases in soils and at the soil-atmosphere interface. An innovative device has been developed within an experimental platform to study gas fluxes at the surface of a soil column placed under controlled conditions, with long-term, high-resolution monitoring of many parameters. The physical, chemical and biological mechanisms responsible for the variations of gas flux at the soil-atmosphere interface can thus be studied separately. This study focused in particular on the effects of plant metabolism (evapotranspiration, respiration and photosynthesis) as well as water content and barometric pressure. These mechanisms affect the pressure gradient that controls advective gas transport. A constant gas flow at the base of a soil can thus show significant transient variations on time scales ranging from several hours to several days. Numerical modelling has been initiated although no code is currently able to account for two-phase transport in the presence of sharp air/water fronts and evaporation. The numerous experimental results will be used to validate the necessary developments
