In Italy, the theme of the school, and more generally of education in the broadest sense, already in turmoil before the epidemic, seems to be exploding today in all its urgency, both because of the instances - above all pedagogical - of transformation brought by the pandemic itself (which from this point of view has acted as a catalyst), and because of the uncertain consequences of a building heritage that now largely needs to be restored, because it is architecturally and technologically inadequate. This has led to the structuring of a literature review that takes into account two main time spans: on the one hand, that of the 1960s-1970s (often called "the golden age of school"), investigated through the international architectural journals of that period, where the typology-technology problem emerges strongly; on the other hand, the selection (through Scopus, WoS, etc.) of current or recent studies and pedagogical experiences related to new technologies. The criterion for the choice of case studies is therefore based on their propulsive potential in relation to today's transformation needs, seeking to consider the school as an organism and not merely as a set of functional parts (as much current literature does).

Sprint-cycling performance is paramount to competitive success in over half the world-championship and Olympic races in the sport of cycling. This review examines the current knowledge behind the interaction of propulsive and resistive forces that determine sprint performance. Because of recent innovation in field power-measuring devices, actual data from both elite track- and road-cycling sprint performances provide additional insight into key performance determinants and allow for the construction of complex models of sprint-cycling performance suitable for forward integration. Modeling of various strategic scenarios using a variety of field and laboratory data can highlight the relative value for certain tactically driven choices during competition.

In the contemporary context, innovation stands as the primary propulsive agent in steering the course of social and economic advancement within any given nation. In accordance with prevailing global trends, nations have attained noteworthy accomplishments through the formulation and execution of innovation policies designed to enhance the progress of their domestic and sector-specific landscapes. The efficacy of any policy hinges upon its formulation with a forward-looking vision, steadfast implementation, and rigorous evaluation of outcomes. Innovation policy, as a pivotal instrument, assumes a guiding role in the advancement of a nation, region, and industry, informed by scientific and technological achievements, knowledge reservoirs, and innovative endeavors. Commencing in the latter part of the 1970s, China embarked upon a trajectory characterized by the implementation of an open economic policy. Within this overarching framework, notable emphasis has been placed on the widespread assimilation of scientific and technological progress, with particular emphasis on the industrial domain. This commitment to fostering technological prowess culminated in the formal adoption of the "Innovation-Oriented Economic Development Strategy" in the year 2006. This milestone document represents the government's inaugural articulation of its primary policy directive pertaining to innovation-driven economic development. The focus of this study centers on the examination of relatively large factories engaged in the production of wool and cashmere products within the textile industry of Inner Mongolia, China. The research encompasses an investigation into the developmental experiences related to innovation within this sector. Furthermore, it includes an analysis of the innovation policy endorsed by the government for this industry, along with an evaluation of its practical implementation.

This paper explores some of the key regional characteristics of the formation of market relationships that influence the overall economic situation in the country. The author examines regional units characterized by there being latent sources of cumulative growth within a multilevel stratified unit that incorporates a group of business entities engaged in a homogeneous type of economic activity which may initiate a multiplicative effect based on the capacity for systemic or developmental innovations, as well as a group of business entities associated with a propulsive sector through the “input/output” relationship, which ensures the translation of a multiplicative effect in the direction from higher territorial establishments to lower ones. The paper discusses the activity of key organizations within a recipient region with a view to identifying potential growth areas that could become the basis for the development of import substitution at the mesolevel, which are engaged in activity within the framework of traditional spheres of economic activity.

The presence of underdeveloped territories, a large number of backward and depressed regions has a direct impact on the economic security of both the regions themselves and the state as a whole. One of the tools for the development of space, which has proven its effectiveness in the practice of application in the world, are special (free) economic zones. The regimes emerging in their territories are commonly called preferential. Moreover, there are no uniform rules for the development of such formations. Each state, when establishing preferential regimes, is guided by its own national legislation, certain development goals, as well as the use of international experience in the formation of special economic zones. The main purpose of the article is to study the issues of the development of territories with preferential regimes, their impact on the economy of the home countries and the possibility of using world experience in the subjects of the Russian Federation to attract investment, create new jobs with the support of propulsive industries and the spread of innovations arising in these zones to the nearest areas.

The evolution of the rudder as a means of steering or maneuvering ships has not kept up with other progress in ship machinery and propulsion systems. During the past decade, however, several significant advances in ship maneuvering have been made based on the principle of diverting the propulsive thrust rather than simply steering the hull. One of these innovations is the Schilling rudder, which offers, at a relatively economical cost, greatly improved maneuverability even at very slow speeds. The Schilling rudder can be rotated 75 deg to either side without stalling, which provides stern thrust capability to the ship as the main engine thrust can be diverted at an angle of 90 deg to the hull. A twin Schilling Rudder system, with independently controllable rudders, has the additional features of allowing vectored reversal of ahead thrust, eliminating the need for a reversing gear or controllable-pitch propeller, and, when coupled with a suitable bow thrust device, can even provide a level of dynamic positioning capability to the ship. Both the single and double Schilling rudder systems have now been proven in service and their applicability extended to most types of vessels with no limit on size.

The goal of this paper is to provide a critical review of different guidance, navigation and control (GNC) schemes that can achieve vertical take-off/ vertical landing (VTVL), which is where a rocket takes off and lands propulsively, using a model rocket. Reusable launch vehicles (RLVs), many of which use VTVL, could lower costs, decrease waste and allow for more scientific research extraterrestrially. Existing research typically only presents an attitude controller, which is insufficient for VTVL, whilst our main contribution is presenting GNC schemes for VTVL and comparing them to determine the best. The schemes are simulated with varying parameters to test the robustness and to evaluate their performance, with linear control and non-linear navigation and guidance perform the ing best.

Purpose Starting from these premises, the aim of the paper is illustrating the role of experience in urban regeneration projects and to explore how the experience of high quality product luxury places can be sustainable with existent place identity or new place identity to be suitably created. Design/methodology/approach The experience of a place may become an integral part of a product experience. The enhancement of products (Splendiani, 2013): assumes a meaning which goes beyond the simple sale of material goods. It covers the supply of complex experiences … enriched by intangible elements capable to stimulate and involve the sensory and experiential component of consumption. It deals with attracting people to the places where local products are made by inserting the products in the most extensive offers covering the entire territorial system of reference The experience may also be used for the spectacolarisation of a place and its commercialisation, as in the case of “brandscapes” (Klingman, 2007). In this case, it is important not to clone every place everywhere because they could inevitably resemble each other without be able to really engage the people who move into them (Lehtovuori, 2010). The methodology approach is based on a wide bibliography and internet research based on the main terms connected to the topics of the paper, including experience, place identity, quality product, regeneration; on case studies – even though not illustrated – concerning places of interest for the research topics, such as: Hafencity in Hamburg, the Albert Dock in Liverpool, Abondaibarra area in Bilbao. Findings The planning of places of quality product cannot be separated from interpretation of the territory as a cultural system resulting from an ensemble of historical, economic and social processes. In such a system, the contribution of the cultural factor must be considered propulsive, not only for its qualitative meaning but also, and especially, for the role of “trait d’union” of a number of actions taken to protect and enhance places. Originality/value The increasing importance of the use of experience in the urban regeneration process is leading cities to be involved in constructing suitable images and symbols of their transformed areas to meet the new trends, also according with luxurious ones. Even though globalisation is one of the main dangers in innovative itineraries, the proper planning of quality architecture and public spaces could prevent it by creating a suitable mix between innovation and culture.

The thesis investigates the physical phenomena arising from the interaction between a Boundary Layer Ingestion (BLI) engine intake and the fuselage under off-design conditions for a commercial aircraft. A buried BLI intake geometry on a flat plate is employed. The study involves both numerical and experimental analyses, characterizing the steady and unsteady flow behavior. The predictive capability of various CFD turbulence models, RANS and hybrid RANS/LES, is assessed and compared with wind tunnel test data. The flow distortion at the Aerodynamic Interface Plane (AIP), the main drawback of using a BLI engine, is quantified. Different distortion criteria used in the industry are examined, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. Finally, the results of this thesis provide a deeper understanding of the flow behavior of this type of configuration, as well as the potential and limitations of the numerical methods applied. The results of the thesis may also serve as a basis for reflection on the use of active flow control to optimize the benefit of the BLI concept while respecting the multiple design constraints, especially related to the engine intake operation outside cruise conditions and the physical integration of the engine on the aircraft

With its high process automation and digitalization, Industry 4.0 provides new opportunities to actualize more flexible, higher quality, speedy, cheap, and productive manufacturing and services. Containing numerous technology and paradigms, Industry 4.0 is expected to transform the industrial manufacture and society by aiming at economic, social, and environmental gains. The facts that natural resources are running out, lifecycle of the world is diminishing, and society has increasing anxiety on this situation. These have been the propulsive power for the development of Industry 4.0. By means of the technology and innovations that Industry 4.0 brings along, it is clear that it could also contribute to the recent popular and emphasized concept:sustainability. In this chapter, after giving information about the paradigms related with Industry 4.0, the theoretical frame of corporate sustainability and the effect of digital transformation on corporate sustainability have been evaluated. And then, constructing sustainable digital business models and focusing on value proposal have been discussed.

Abstract Fallowing the Depression, the early 1930s seemed a bad time for jazz. Yet music’s unfolding cannot be subsumed in cultural, still less social, history, and recordings-our sole reliable witnesses-prove that the language of jazz continued to develop. What happened in the 1930s was built on the 1920s, the achievements of that decade being consolidated and synthesized, then germinating further innovations. These became known as swing. In the jazz of the 1930s there was no specifically “new movement.” There seldom is; yet people prefer fantasy to fact, and hence various dates have been accepted as marking the start of this swing music. The most plausible remains August 21, 1935, the day of a spectacularly successful performance from Benny Goodman’s dejected band at a ballroom in Los Angeles. Yet by then swing was almost old, and a less improbable candidate is the now-forgotten Casa Loma Orchestra, which from 1930 recorded in a style that seemed new to jazz. Played with extraordinary impetus, “Maniac’s Ball” (Brunswick) is representative, and tension is increased relentlessly through each idea being slightly more propulsive than the last. Gene Gifford, the band’s chief arranger, was preoccupied not with melody or color but with almost

In this paper we propose a rational viscous Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methodology applied to sailing yacht rig aerodynamic design and analysis. After an outlook of present challenges in high speed sailing, we emphasized the necessity of innovation and CFD to conceive, validate and optimize new aero-hydrodynamic concepts. Then, we present our CFD methodology through CAD, mesh generation, numerical and physical modelling choices, and their validation on typical rig configurations through wind-tunnel test comparisons. The methodology defined, we illustrate the relevance and wide potential of advanced numerical tools to investigate sailing yacht rig design questions like the relation between sail camber, propulsive force and aerodynamic finesse, and like the mast-mainsail non linear interaction. Through these examples, it is shown how sailing yacht rig improvements may be drawn by using viscous CFD based on Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations (RANS). Then the extensive use of viscous CFD, rather than wind-tunnel tests on scale models, for the evaluation or ranking of improved designs with increased time savings. Viscous CFD methodology is used on a preliminary study of the complex and largely unknown Yves Parlier Hydraplaneur double rig. We show how it is possible to increase our understanding of his flow physics with strong sail interactions, and we hope this methodology will open new roads toward optimized design. Throughout the paper, the necessary comparison between CFD and wind-tunnel test will be presented to focus on limitations and drawbacks of viscous CFD tools, and to address future improvements.

In times of crisis there is a need to incorporate management mechanisms that allow strategic use of the region’s ecosystem and entrepreneurship potential. Today many entrepreneurship agents carry out business processes chaotically, traditionally managing their resources without considering the innovational components of the ecosystem. There is a need for a strategy created on the basis of achievements and development of scientific theories, which will align the spontaneous chaotic nature of the entrepreneurial cluster and strengthen its vector impulse in increasing the activity of the economy of the territory. The aim of the study is to create a modern strategy for the development of small and medium business on the basis of the study and development of scientific theories and ideas, to create the strategy to study the state and trends of entrepreneurial activity of the region and its ecological environment. Methods: management theory, strategic management theory, systems analysis, methodologies of SMB growth poles strategy in regional systems, development of regional ecosystems, conceptual approaches to entrepreneurship development strategy, concepts, and models of entrepreneurship ecosystem theory. Results and novelty: The strategy of small and medium business in the region proposed in the work is based on the study of theories, methods and analysis of the role and performance trends of small and medium business (SMB), which determined its priority as a propulsive cluster of the regional economic system. The application of platform strategy for SMB development allows increasing the propulsiveness of the SMB cluster in the ecosystem of the region.

Conceptual design is the first and most important phase of an aircraft’s configuration and system development process. That being said, there is no denying that innovation in aviation has stunted over the last 50 years; the once every present fascination of flying has been blanketed by the rapid profit-driven commercializing of an industry. Moreover, we have reached an apex of maximizing the efficiency of current passenger aircraft model configurations. In recent times, new research and development has culminated to the introduction of aerodynamic structures to address key issues such as stability and fuel efficiency. This research paper seeks to push the envelope of innovation with a brand new perspective on how we view air travel — redefining the Why, What and How. It explores novel concepts such as Boeing Blended Wing Body (BWB) aircraft shown in, which does not follow the conventional Tube and Wing (TAW) configuration. It is a tailless design that integrates the wing and the fuselage into a single-lifting surface. The most common advantages include a higher lift-to-drag ratio and higher payload capacity due to a distribute load along the centerline of the aircraft. On the other hand, a tailless configuration comes at a cost to in-flight maneuvering and stability. The unique design of the Hybrid-MCX-1 aircraft involves the application of the active aero-elastic tailoring to aircraft topology optimization for both subsonic and transonic regimes. With a focus on experimental wind tunnel testing and high-fidelity simulations, this project proposes a new concept that deviates from today’s tubular and wing concept. The aircraft has a unique shape with a forward fuselage that starts off with the conventional tubular and winged aircraft design currently flown in commercial travel, but deviates to a wider cross section at the center of the fuselage. The model has self-supporting, cantilever, dihedral, swept wings, with pronounced fillets at the junction of the wing root and fuselage, blending them smoothly. This smooth transition reduce interference between airflow over the wing root and the adjacent body surface, ultimately reducing drag. The engines of the Hybrid-MCX-1 are mounted by at 45-degree angle on the rear of the plane. This engine location offers the opportunity for swallowing the boundary layer of air from that portion of the center body upstream of the inlet, providing improved propulsive efficiency by reducing the ram drag. The Hybrid-MCX-1 also possesses a vertical tail that bisects the engines. As with current commercial aircraft, this tail provides lateral stability and controls the yaw. In the case of the BWB, yaw control is made possible by sweeping the wing and downloading the wingtips. However, this approach reduces the effective aerodynamic wingspan of the aircraft and imposes a significant induced drag penalty. The presence of a tail on the concept model addresses the aforementioned issue and rectifies unwanted yawing that may arise during cross wind flight conditions. The rear end of the aircraft decrease significantly in vertical thickness when compared to the lateral thickness to minimize the possibility of flow separation as air passes around the wings and over the front half of the aircraft while maximizing total lifting surface area. The pylons are adequately sized to avoid aerodynamic interference between fuselage, pylon and nacelle but still relatively short to minimize drag.
