Enterprise architecture is the high-level design of the entire business, facilitated by enterprise architects. "Agile enterprise architecture" is the term used in enterprise architecture to describe an architecture that caters for future unknowns, enabling change to occur rapidly without undue resource utilization, yet in a controlled manner and with minimal adverse impact. Some enterprise architects still use outdated, rigid approaches to enterprise architecture which are incompatible with today‟s business environment. In addition, there is limited research into methods that can be applied to measure the agility of enterprise architecture. The current environment is such that there is a need for a more agile approach to developing and measuring enterprise architecture. This work will lead to the creation of a Framework for The Development and Measurement of Agile Enterprise Architecture. In support of the main goal of the development of the framework, a literature review will be conducted focusing on the necessary sub-goals of the research. The first sub-goal of the literature review is to develop a comprehensive definition for enterprise architecture (referred to as EA), as well as discover how it is currently practiced. Thereafter, the literature review will investigate a comprehensive definition for agility and research why it is emerging as a critical topic. The next chapter of the literature review will research how agility fits within the context of EA, uncovering a comprehensive definition for agile EA and the best practices in agile EA development. The final chapter of the literature review will investigate suitable measurement techniques that can be used to assess the level of agility of EA. On completion of the literature review, a preliminary framework will be created using the most important contributions from the literature. An empirical study will be conducted to explore the definitions for EA, agility, agile EA, the methods to measure the agility of EA and the concepts for the development of agile EA summarised in the preliminary framework. Data analysis follows an interpretive and qualitative approach based on four case studies through interviews with systems experts in four South African organizations in one province. Each interviewee was interviewed once. The initial interview with a Principal Consultant on Enterprise Strategy Consulting at organisation # 1 formed the basis of an exploratory study; the results of which were used to refine the research instrument and preliminary framework. Thereafter, a more rigorous empirical study focused on interviews with the Chief Architect, Senior Manager in Advisory Services and an Enterprise Architect at organizations 2, 3 and 4 respectively was conducted. The research follows an inductive approach to capture the interpretive experiences of participants and develop theoretical propositions from them. Following the exploratory pilot study it became necessary to make changes to the preliminary framework and initial survey instrument created. Thereafter, the empirical study consisting of the remaining three cases was conducted to test the important aspects of the framework and literature definitions. The analysis of the results of the empirical study prompted further changes to the theoretical framework and definitions created. The interviews conducted with each of the organizations confirmed the factors for agile EA development as well as the effectiveness of the definitions created in the literature review. The research uncovered that the need for a more agile approach to developing EA and a way to measure the level of agility of EA has become more and more significant in organizations. This begins with a better understanding of EA, agility, how agility fits within the context of EA, as well as appropriate methods to measure agility.

Uganda’s economy is agro-based; although the country is land locked it has great potential for industrial development. It is well endowed with natural resources and salubrious climate, but with little success in transforming its agricultural and mineral wealth into processed commodities for local, regional and international markets. The Uganda’s National Development Plan 2010- 2014 and Uganda Vision 2040 call for a transformed Ugandan society from a peasant to a modern and prosperous country within 30 years. To achieve this goal, Ugandan economy needs to be industrialized. This need is one of the identified strategic bottlenecks. Various strategies and action plans have been developed to steer the country’s economy towards sustainable development and increased competitiveness but with little success. It has been recognized globally that economic development depends heavily on small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). SMEs are the prime source of new jobs and play a crucial role in income generation as well as in industrialization processes. However, most small businesses fail within their early stages of operation mainly due to under-capitalization and / or lack of proper management and business skills. Globally, through business incubators, start-ups and SMEs have been significantly enhanced to overcome their initial and critical stages of development. Business incubators have been tried in Uganda but not in a successful way. An Open Innovation Business Incubator is a physical or virtual environment that combines the attributes of open innovation and business incubation concepts in creating and supporting new start-ups. This research aimed at understanding more of the situation in Uganda, how the innovation systems and incubators are managed in other countries and to design a model for how to create better conditions for incubators in Uganda and similar low-income countries and stimulate industrial development. The proposed model has adopted an open innovation approach and a list of suggestions and recommendations has been made. Different methodological tools and participatory approaches were utilized in the process of undertaking the study to achieve the objectives. Data were collected through literature review, analysis of relevant theories such as industrialization, entrepreneurship, science, technology and innovation, business incubation, triple helix and clusters theory, open innovation, and public private partnerships. Review of Government reports and policy documents, discussions with industrial and incubation experts, surveys, focus group discussions and case studies were done. Useful ideas were obtained from seminars and conferences. Research findings indicated that: • There are hardly any graduate incubatees in Uganda, thus there is a need to foster partnerships and synergies between government, private sector/non-government organizations and academia for open incubation, • All incubators in Uganda focus on incubatees developing technologies and products but not on business models , • Open innovation incubators combined with entrepreneurial oriented strategies can effectively support start-ups and SMEs but requires strong mutual trust amongst actors, • Through public-private partnerships and open innovation incubators, industrial transformation can be stimulated.

Resumo: Essa tese procura relacionar os conceitos de eficiência energética, política industrial e inovação tecnológica. O objetivo é apresentar os principais pontos para uma nova política industrial, fundamentada na eficiência energética, que tenha como conseqüências a redução do consumo de energia elétrica e, principalmente, a divulgação do conceito de inovação tecnológica. O uso eficiente de energia elétrica diminui a necessidade de expansão do setor elétrico, postergando investimentos necessários ao atendimento do mercado de energia. Para os consumidores, as principais vantagens são a redução do gasto com energia elétrica, a otimização dos sistemas e marketing associado às idéias de preservação ambiental. Nesse sentido, o Programa Nacional de Conservação de Energia Elétrica (PROCEL), através de inúmeras iniciativas, é uma importante ferramenta governamental para a conservação de energia e o aumento da eficiência energética no país. Para que esses programas obtenham sucesso uma nova política industrial é necessária. Projetos de eficiência devem ter como objetivo a modernização do parque industrial - buscando a capacitação produtiva, gerencial e comercial das empresas. Para tanto, tais projetos, que em muitos casos baseiam-se na substituição de equipamentos antigos por novos, pode ser encarada como uma inovação incremental. Logo é proposta uma nova política industrial na qual o foco é a inovação tecnológica via eficiência energética. A idéia principal é utilizar os recursos destinados à inovação tecnológica em projetos de eficiência, pois esses conceitos são sinônimos. Os principais beneficiados serão as Micros, Pequenas e Médias Empresas (MPMEs) que, normalmente, gastam grande parte do seu faturamento com energia elétrica
Abstract: This thesis tries to relate the concepts of energy efficiency, industrial politics and technological innovation. The goal is to present the main points for a new industrial policy, based on energy efficiency, which has the consequences of reducing energy consumption and, especially, the dissemination of the concept of technological innovation. The efficient use of electric energy diminishes the necessity of expansion of the electric sector, postponing necessary investments to the attendance of the energy market. To consumers, the main advantages are the reduction of electric energy consumption, the optimization of the systems and the marketing linked with the ideas of environment preservation. In this direction, the Programa Nacional de Conservação de Energia Elétrica (PROCEL), through innumerable initiatives, is an important governmental tool for the conservation of energy and the increase of the energy efficiency in the country. Therefore these programs get success a new industrial politics is necessary. Projects of efficiency must have as objective the modernization of the industrial plants - increasing the production, management and commercial qualifications of the companies. To reach these targets, such projects, which in many cases are based on the equipment replacement, can be faced as an incremental innovation. Consequently, it is suggested a new industrial politics, which focus the technological innovation by means of efficiency energy. The main idea is to use the resources destined for the innovation technology in efficiency projects, therefore - in our point of view, these two concepts are synonymous. The main beneficiaries will be the Small and Medium Size Companies that, normally, spend great part of its invoicing with electrical energy

A competitividade entre as empresas, a necessidade de inovaÃÃo tecnolÃgica e expansÃo ao mercado internacional faz com que a busca de conhecimentos seja cada vez mais contÃnua. O presente estudo combina estes temas, analisando a metodologia do Projeto ExtensÃo Industrial Exportadora (PEIEX) em 180 (cento e oitenta) empresas de confecÃÃo cearenses. Por meio da pesquisa quantitativa, foram identificados perfis e analisadas as relaÃÃes entre aspectos de inovaÃÃo com vendas no mercado internacional. Os resultados mostram indÃcios que a inovaÃÃo representa fator a ser considerado como diferencial competitivo, tendo sua contribuiÃÃo no processo de internacionalizaÃÃo
The competitiveness between companies, the need for technological innovation and expansion to international markets makes the search for knowledge is increasing continuously. This study combines these themes, analyzing the methodology of the Industrial Extension Project Exporter (PEIEX) 180 (one hundred eighty) of Cearà manufacturing companies. Through quantitative research, relations profiles were identified and analyzed from aspects of innovation with international sales. The results show evidence that innovation is factor to be considered as a competitive advantage, and its contribution to the internationalization process

As interações e transbordamentos de conhecimento (spillovers) são elementos essenciais nos processos de aprendizagem, geração de inovações e competitividade da empresa. Para as pequenas e médias empresas (PMEs), esses elementos adquirem importância devido às dificuldades competitivas que lhes são características. Surge então a necessidade de verificar como as PMEs aprendem e adquirem novas competências e novos conhecimentos e de conhecer quais os elementos relevantes para esses processos. O principal objetivo deste trabalho é descrever e analisar as interações e transbordamentos de conhecimentos chaves, que conduzem as PMEs a processos de aprendizagem. Para alcançar esse objetivo foram estudadas PMEs que participam e participaram de programas de apoio à competitividade. As atividades de inovação e exportação, atividades estratégicas para a competitividade de grandes empresas, transnacionais e cadeias globais, ajudaram na escolha dos programas de apoio investigados: incubadoras de base tecnológica e consórcios de exportação. Os objetivos desses programas que delimitaram o estudo foram aumentar a competitividade de empreendimentos inovadores para o desenvolvimento de produtos igualmente inovadores, no caso das incubadoras, e aumentar a competitividade das PMEs e sua participação em mercados externos, no caso dos consórcios de exportação. Dessa forma, a pesquisa foi delimitada as PMEs inseridas no CIETEC, a maior incubadora de base tecnológica do Brasil; as PMEs que participam do Programa Setorial Integrado . PSI, e dos consórcios de exportação, programas da APEX-Brasil. Foi feita ainda uma última delimitação, se escolheram dois casos representativos desses programas, em um mesmo setor e que já apresentassem resultados para análise, o PSI Calçados de Jaú e o consórcio de exportação APEMEBI-Brazon de Birigui. O estudo é uma abordagem qualitativa com aplicação direta de questionários desenvolvidos especialmente para cada tipo de empresa pesquisada, incubada e consorciada. Também foram realizadas entrevistas com diretores de entidades públicas e de apoio, pesquisadores e professores de universidades, centros de pesquisa e institutos de ensino. Os resultados do trabalho apontam que o CIETEC, o PSI Calçados e o consórcio de exportação promovem interações chaves para os processos de aprendizagem, geração e difusão de novos conhecimentos nas PMEs. No caso de empresas incubadas ressalta-se a importância da interação Universidade-Empresa para o desenvolvimento de produtos inovadores, e a capacitação tecnológica das PMEs. No caso do PSI e do consórcio de exportação, observa-se que as interações com clientes e fornecedores (principalmente internacionais) capacita tecnologicamente e prepara as PMEs para exportar. Os resultados da pesquisa também mostram que os transbordamentos de conhecimento são elementos essenciais, nos processos de aprendizagem das PMEs, devido a que possibilitam o acesso a conhecimentos externos. Finalmente, se conclui que os transbordamentos de conhecimento e as interações das PMEs com outros agentes podem ser definidos como elementos dinamizadores nos processos de aprendizagem dessas empresas, especialmente quando inseridos em ambientes nos quais há possibilidades aumentadas de inetrações e existem conhecimentos inerentes ao local.
The interactions and spillovers of knowledge are essential elements in the learning process for the generation of innovations and the competitiveness of firms. Those factors acquire a great importance for Small and Medium Enterprises . SME.s, because of the competitive difficulties which characterize them. Then arises the need to verify how SME.s learn and acquire new skills and knowledge; and what are the relevant elements to these processes. The main purpose of the thesis was to describe and analyze the key interactions and spillovers of knowledge that leading to the learning process of SME.s. To achieve this goal, SME.s involved in support programs to competitiveness were studied. The activities of innovation and export, strategic activities for competitiveness of large enterprises, transnational and global chains, helped in the choice of the researched support programs: technology-based incubators and consortia exports. The goals of these programs that delimited the study were: to increase the competitiveness of innovative entrepreneurships to the development of innovative products, in the case of incubators; and increasing the competitiveness of SME.s and their participation in the foreign markets, in the case of consortia export. Thus the search was bounded to the SME.s included in the CIETEC, the largest technology based incubator of Brazil; the SME.s participating in the Integrated Sector Program - ISP, and the export consortia, which are programs of APEX-Brazil. It was also made a final demarcation; from those programs in the same sector, two representative cases were chosen, which already produced results for the analysis: the ISP footwear of Jaú and consortium of export APEMEBI of Birigui. This work is a qualitative approach with direct application of questionnaires developed especially for each type of surveyed companies: incubated and consortium. There were also conducted interviews with directors of public agencies and support, researchers and professors of universities, teaching and research institutions. The main results of the work indicate that the CIETEC, the ISP footwear, and export consortia promote key interactions to the process of learning, generation and dissemination of the new knowledge in SME.s. In the case of incubated companies it is emphasized the importance of university-industry interaction to the development of innovative products, and technology training of SME.s. In the case of ISP and the consortia export, it was observed that the interactions with customers and suppliers (mainly international) train technologically the SME.s and prepare them to export. The results of the research indicate too that the spillovers of knowledge are essential elements to the process of learning of SME.s because possibility to access to external knowledge. Finally, the spillovers of knowledge and interactions of SME.s with others agents can be defined as dynamical elements in learning processes of these companies, especially when placed in environments in which there are increased possibilities of interactions and the are knowledge inherent to the local.

A tese analisa o comportamento inovativo das grandes empresas da indústria de transformação brasileira, consideradas importantes agentes do desenvolvimento econômico, com ênfase no papel desempenhado pelas empresas estrangeiras. A partir de uma abordagem baseada na ―teoria econômica evolucionária‖, considera-se que as inovações (tecnológicas, organizacionais e institucionais) são um mecanismo fundamental do desenvolvimento econômico. Dessa forma, procurou-se identificar em que medida as grandes empresas estrangeiras da indústria de transformação brasileira têm se caracterizado como agentes do desenvolvimento econômico nacional, em função da histórica trajetória dependente da economia nacional em relação ao capital produtivo internacional. Com base nos dados da Pesquisa de Inovação Tecnológica (PINTEC-IBGE), foram elaborados indicadores sobre inovação (taxa de inovação, esforço inovativo, relações de cooperação, incentivos à inovação, responsabilidade pela inovação, fontes de informação, qualificação das pessoas ocupadas em P&D e problemas e obstáculos à inovação), a partir dos quais se fez uma análise comparativa acerca do comportamento inovativo das grandes empresas (500 e mais empregados), nacionais e estrangeiras, entre 1998 e 2005. Com base nos indicadores analisados, verificou-se que as grandes empresas estrangeiras da indústria de transformação brasileira têm dado uma contribuição restrita ao desenvolvimento de inovações em território brasileiro. Além disso, os indicadores também demonstram que há uma influência reduzida, tanto de empresas nacionais como de estrangeiras, sobre o desenvolvimento do ―sistema nacional de inovações‖. Portanto, a atração de investimentos estrangeiros diretos não tem se caracterizado, na perspectiva ―evolucionária‖, como forma adequada ou suficiente de promoção do desenvolvimento econômico nacional. Como agravante, as ―estratégias seguidoras‖ das empresas nacionais têm amplificado os efeitos do comportamento inovativo das empresas estrangeiras.
The thesis analyzes the innovative behavior of large firms in Brazilian transformation industry, considered important agents of economic development, with emphasis on the role played by foreign enterprises. Initiating with an approach based on the ―evolutionary economic theory‖, its considered that the innovations (technological, organizational, and institutional) are a fundamental mechanism of economic development. Thus, it sought to identify to what extent the Brazilian industries large foreign enterprises are characterized as agents of national economic development, due to the dependent historical course of the national economy in relation to international productive capital. Based on the ―Pesquisa de Inovação Tecnológica‖ (PINTEC-IBGE) data, indicators were elaborated about innovation (innovation rate, innovative effort, relations of cooperation, innovation incentives, responsibility for the innovation, sources of information, qualification of the people occupied in P&D, and problems and obstacles to the innovation), from which was made a comparative analysis concerning the innovative behavior of the large national and foreign enterprises (500 and more employees), between 1998 and 2005. Based on the analyzed indicators, it was verified that the Brazilian industries large foreign enterprises have given a restricted contribution to the development of innovations in Brazilian territory. Moreover, the indicators also demonstrate that it has a reduced influence, by national as well as foreign enterprises, on the development of the ―national innovation system‖. Therefore, the attraction of foreign direct investments haven't been characterized, in the ―evolutionary‖ perspective, as an adequate or sufficient form of promotion of the national economic development. As an aggravation, the national enterprise's ―following strategies‖ have amplified the effect of the foreign enterprise's innovative behavior.

Este trabalho aborda a gestão do desenvolvimento de produtos e a inovação tecnológica, amplamente aceitos como um meio de assegurar sobrevivência aos negócios. Realizou-se uma revisão bibliográfica identificando os diferentes fatores que os influenciam. Descreve-se uma pesquisa, aplicada em 2004, que avaliou as metodologias de desenvolvimento de produtos utilizadas em pequenas e médias empresas industriais (PME\'s), em uma região específica do estado de São Paulo, pertencentes ao setor metal-mecânico da economia brasileira e que adotou como instrumento de coleta de dados um questionário, dividido por assuntos, projetado e aplicado em entrevistas presenciais em uma amostra de 32 empresas. Este trabalho propõe e ordena um conjunto de diretrizes de apoio ao esforço de inovação tecnológica em PME\'s industriais, evidenciadas em uma ferramenta para o diagnóstico do estágio de amadurecimento, que se fundamentada na categorização das empresas pesquisadas, segundo os fatores de inovação tecnológica abordados por diversos autores. O método foi validado pela análise da implantação de diretrizes, em épocas distintas, em três empresas participantes da pesquisa.
This work approaches the product development management and technological innovation, widely seen as way of ensuring business survival. It was held a bibliographic review about the different factors that influence them. The work reports a research, applied in 2004, that evaluated product development methodologies used on industrial small and medium enterprises (SME\'s), in a specific region on the state of Sao Paulo. All of these SME\'s belong to the metal-mechanics sector of the Brazilian economy. The research adopted a questionnaire as an instrument for data collection. This questionnaire was divided in subjects, and was developed and applied in personal meetings in a sample of 32 enterprises. This work propounds and orders a support guidelines to the effort of technological innovation in industrial SME\'s, evidenced in a tool for the diagnosis of the mature degree, based on the classification of the studied companies, according to factors of technological innovation from the approach of different authors. The method was validated by the analysis of the guidelines implantation, at distinct periods of time, in three participant companies of the research.

Дисертація на здобуття наукового ступеня кандидата економічних наук за спеціальністю 08.00.04 – економіка та управління підприємствами (за видами економічної діяльності). – Національний технічний університет "Харківський політехнічний інститут", Харків, 2020. Дисертацію присвячено розробці та обґрунтуванню теоретико-концептуальних засад і методичного інструментарію формування механізму управління розвитком підприємства обробної промисловості з урахуванням нелінійної природи перебігу економічних процесів, що притаманні трансформаційній економіці України. У роботі визначено сутність та зміст понятійного апарату і обґрунтовано структуру інфраструктурного забезпечення інноваційної діяльності промислових підприємств. Для його формування у роботі проаналізовані та узагальнені визначення понять "інновація", "інвестиція", показано зв'язок між ними. Проведений критичний аналіз визначень поняття "інновація" свідчить про те, що його специфічний зміст вчені розкривають залежно від об'єкту (процес або зміни, систему чи результат) дослідження, що пов’язаного із цілями, предметом, середовищем дослідження й іншими особливостями, які притаманні інноваційній діяльності. Аналіз сутності та ознак інновацій дозволив виділити головні характеристики та критерії цього поняття, а саме: наявність істотного з погляду менеджменту характеру змін; інноваціям має бути притаманна науково-технічна новизна; прояв творчої діяльності; зв'язок із високим ризиком; володіння потенціалом підвищення ефективності усіх процесів загалом або їх частин; досягнення цільової ефективності; практичне втілення, використання у різноманітних сферах діяльності; здатність задовольняти ринковий попит, тобто потреби споживачів; приносити прибуток суб'єктам підприємницької діяльності; здатність створити довготривалий корисний ефект; екологічна безпека. Проаналізовано існуючі економічні, правові та організаційні можливості створення, фінансування та комерціалізації результатів інноваційної діяльності промислових підприємств. В Україні запроваджено такі організаційно-економічні механізми стимулювання розвитку інновацій як наукові та індустріальні парки, а також спеціальні правові режими економічної діяльності (СПРЕД), до яких належать технологічні парки, спеціальні (вільні) економічні зони та спеціальні режими інвестиційної діяльності – території пріоритетного розвитку. Існуючі організаційно-економічні механізми розвитку інновацій не є ефективними. Інноваційна діяльність підпорядкована загальнодержавним напрямам розвитку економіки призводить до переважання в структурі ВВП низькотехно-логічної, ресурсо-та капіталоємкої продукції і послуг, які характеризуються низьким рівнем доданої вартості та конкурентоспроможної переважно за ціновим параметром. На відміну від цього, основу гібридної економіки становить поєднання елементів операційної економки та "пласких" інтегрованих мереж. При цьому, завдання останніх полягає у забезпеченні інноваційних проривів у міжгалузевих нішах, їх оцифруванні та трансформації інтелектуальної власності у комерційний продукт, який є об'єктом попиту як на внутрішньому, так і на міжнародних ринках. Сформовано організаційно-економічні засади інноваційної діяльності промислового підприємства. У роботі обґрунтовано, що сьогодні інноваційна економіка повинна забезпечуватись за рахунок підтримки та розвитку підприємств, орієнтованих на інноваційну діяльність, тобто трансформацію ідей, винаходів та ноу-хау у конкурентоспроможну продукцію, яка здатна забезпечити зростання економіки країни у глобальному конкурентному середовищі. Сьогодні такими підприємствами є інноваційні посередники, які забезпечують реєстрацію, комерціалізацію і трансфер технологій, здійснюють консолідацію глобальних ресурсів учасників інвестиційно-інноваційних процесів та вирішують конфлікти менеджерів різних рівнів ієрархії управління і спеціалізації в процесі розробки та реалізації інновацій. Проаналізовано інноваційно-інвестиційний потенціал України, фінансові форми інвестування інноваційної діяльності промислових підприємств за участю банків та бюджетів різних рівнів. Встановлено, що незадовільний стан виробничо-технічної бази промислових підприємств вимагає проведення техніко-технологічної модернізації вітчизняної промисловості шляхом забезпечення належного рівня інвестування інноваційної діяльності. Комерційне інвестування інновацій здійснюється суб’єктами фінансового ринку. Аналіз їх ресурсного забезпечення продемонстрував фінансову спроможність інвестування інновацій лише банківськими установами. Також проведений у роботі аналіз показав, що кожен об'єкт інноваційної діяльності має специфічні джерела у фінансуванні, зокрема: найбільший внесок у формування вартості основних засобів досліджуваних промислових підприємств здійснюють статутний капітал та коротко- і довгострокові кредити банків; вартість нематеріальних активів формується також переважно за рахунок статутних і додаткових капіталів та цільового фінансування; вартість незавершених капітальних інвестицій формується переважно за рахунок цільового фінансування, довгострокових кредитів банків, статутних капіталів та векселів виданих. Обґрунтувати методичний підхід до відбору інноваційних проектів промислового підприємства за критеріями ефективності для комерціалізації результатів інноваційної діяльності. В рамках підходу сформовано сукупність оціночних критеріїв відбору ідей; методом аналізу ієрархій визначено їх вагові внески у загальну оцінку; визначено експертною групою індекси інноваційної ідеї за розробленою сукупністю критеріїв; обґрунтовано порядок визначення інтегрального оцінювання інноваційних ідей; розроблено шкалу визначення відповідності ідей критеріям інноваційності. У роботі розроблений методичний підхід до оцінювання економічної ефективності інноваційних проектів, в рамках якого систематизовано перелік різних за спрямуванням висвітлення аспектів економічної ефективності інноваційних проектів одиничних показників та обґрунтовано порядок їх узагальнення в інтегральний критерій економічної ефективності, який слугує основою для побудови рейтингу інноваційних проектів. Практична апробація методичного підходу до оцінювання економічної ефективності інноваційних проектів здійснена на базі прогнозних фінансових показників комерціалізації відібраних інноваційних ідей шляхом масового виробництва інноваційної продукції. За результатами проведених розрахунків за розробленим методичним підходом визначено найбільш привабливі для інвесторів інноваційні проекти та побудовано їх рейтинг, який слугує основою обґрунтування рішень потенційних інвесторів щодо вкладання коштів у той, чи інший інноваційний проект, визначення їх обсягів, вартості. Обґрунтоване організаційне забезпечення діяльності та взаємодії промислового підприємства та інноваційного посередника на ринку промислових інновацій. У контексті запропонованого організаційного забезпечення діяльність інноваційного посередника доцільно організувати у формі товариства з обмеженою відповідальністю шляхом консолідації компетенцій його учасників у різних сферах інноваційно-інвестиційного процесу: капітал у грошовій та матеріальній формі, інтелектуальний внесок із закріпленням генерального партнера, який має здійснювати поточне управління діяльністю інноваційного посередника, несе персональну відповідальність за зобов'язаннями власним майном тощо. Досягнення цілей інноваційного посередника забезпечується застосуванням інструментів ідентифікації, класифікації, сертифікації, реєстрації, стандартизації, оцінки, обліку, комерціалізації і трансферу об’єктів інтелектуальної (промислової) власності в процесі доведення їх до кінцевого споживача. Функції інноваційного посередника реалізуються за умов співпраці з національними виробничими центрами, а також, використання міжнародних інвестиційних стандартів та стандартів фінансової звітності, що забезпечить можливості трансферу інновацій закордон. Розроблене методичне забезпечення комерціалізації інтелектуальних результатів інноваційної діяльності промислових підприємств передбачає послідовну реалізацію етапів ринкового оцінювання об'єктів інтелектуальної власності; маркетингових досліджень потенційних ринків; визначення напрямів комерційного впровадження об'єктів інтелектуальної власності та укладання відповідних договорів; бухгалтерський облік нематеріальних активів; визначення обсягів та структури інвестицій; контроль виконання договірних положень; трансфер об'єктів інтелектуальної власності. Визначення ринкової вартості досліджуваних в роботі об'єктів інтелектуальної власності (патентів на винаходи) рекомендовано здійснити за дохідний підходом та методом прямої капіталізації доходів. У результаті застосування методичного забезпечення комерціалізації об'єктів інтелектуальної власності, маркетингових досліджень та опитування представників промислових підприємств Харківського регіону визначено підприємства, які зацікавлені у комерційному впровадженні пропонованих інноваційних проектів. Розроблені пропозиції доведені до рівня методичних підходів, а їх практична реалізації у контексті інвестиційно-інноваційної діяльності промислових підприємств Харківського регіону довела їх практичну значущість і доцільність подальшого використання сформованого інструментарію.
Thesis for a Candidate Degree in Economic Sciences in specialty 08.00.04 – Economics and Enterprise Management (according to the types of economic activity). – National technical university "Kharkiv polytechnic institute", Kharkov, 2020. The dissertation is devoted to the development and substantiation of theoretical and conceptual principles and methodological tools for the development of infrastructural support of innovative activity of an industrial enterprise. The essence and content of the conceptual apparat are determined in the work and the structure of infrastructural support of innovative activity of industrial enterprises is substantiated. For its formation in the work the definitions of the concepts "innovation", "investment" are analysed and generalised, the connection between them is shown. The analysis of the essence and features of innovations allowed to identify the main characteristics and criteria of this concept, namely: the presence of significant changes in terms of management nature; innovation must be characterised by scientific and technical novelty; manifestation of creative activity; connection with high risk; possession of the potential to increase the efficiency of all processes in general or their parts; achieving target efficiency; practical implementation, use in various fields of activity; ability to meet market demand and consumer needs; bring profit to business entities; the ability to create a long-lasting beneficial effect; ecological safety. The existing economic, legal and organisational opportunities for the creation, financing and commercialisation of the results of innovative activities of industrial enterprises are analysed. Ukraine has introduced such organisational and economic mechanisms to stimulate the development of innovation as science and industrial parks, as well as special legal regimes of economic activity, which include technology parks, special (free) economic zones and special investment regimes - priority development areas. Existing organisational and economic mechanisms for innovation development are not effective. Innovative activity is subordinated to the national directions of economic development leads to the predominance in the structure of GDP of low-tech, resource- and capital-intensive products and services, which are characterised by low value added and competitive mainly in terms of price. In contrast, the basis of a hybrid economy is a combination of elements of operating economy and "flat" integrated networks. At the same time, the task of the latter is to ensure innovative breakthroughs in intersectional niches, their digitisation and transformation of intellectual property into a commercial product that is in demand in both domestic and international markets. The organisational and economic bases of innovative activity of the industrial enterprise are formed. It is substantiated that today the innovative economy should be provided by supporting and developing enterprises focused on innovation, ie the transformation of ideas, inventions and know-how into competitive products that can ensure the growth of the economy in a globally competitive environment. Today, such enterprises are innovation intermediaries that provide registration, commercialisation and technology transfer, consolidate global resources of participants in investment and innovation processes and resolve conflicts of managers at different levels of the hierarchy of management and specialisation in the development and implementation of innovations. The innovation and investment potential of Ukraine, financial forms of investing in innovative activities of industrial enterprises with the participation of banks and budgets of different levels are analysed. It is established that the unsatisfactory condition of the production and technical base of industrial enterprises requires technical and technological modernisation of domestic industry by ensuring the appropriate level of investment in innovation. Commercial investment of innovations is carried out by financial market participants. The analysis of their resource provision demonstrated the financial capacity to invest in innovation only by banking institutions. The analysis also showed that each object of innovation has specific sources of funding. The methodical approach to selection of innovative projects of the industrial enterprise on efficiency criteria for commercialisation of results of innovative activity is substantiated. Within the framework of the approach, a set of evaluation criteria for the selection of ideas is formed; the method of analysis of hierarchies determines their weight contributions to the overall assessment; the expert group determined the indices of the innovative idea according to the developed set of criteria; the procedure for determining the integrated evaluation of innovative ideas is substantiated; a scale for determining the compliance of ideas with the criteria of innovation has been developed. The paper develops a methodical approach to assessing the economic efficiency of innovative projects, which systematises a list of different aspects of economic efficiency of innovative projects of individual indicators and substantiates the order of their generalisation into an integrated criterion of economic efficiency, which serves as a basis for ranking innovative projects. Practical approbation of the methodical approach to the evaluation of economic efficiency of innovative projects is carried out on the basis of forecast financial indicators of commercialisation of selected innovative ideas through mass production of innovative products. Based on the results of calculations based on the developed methodological approach, the most attractive innovative projects for investors are identified and their rating is built, which serves as a basis for substantiating decisions of potential investors to invest in an innovative project, determine their volume and value. The organisational support of activity and interaction of the industrial enterprise and the innovative intermediary in the market of industrial innovations is substantiated. In the context of the proposed organisational support, the activity of the innovation intermediary should be organised in the form of a limited liability company by consolidating the competencies of its participants in various areas of innovation and investment process: capital in cash and in kind, intellectual contribution intermediary, bears personal responsibility for obligations with own property, etc. Achieving the goals of the innovative intermediary is ensured by the use of tools for identification, classification, certification, registration, standardisation, evaluation, accounting, commercialisation and transfer of intellectual (industrial) property in the process of bringing them to the final consumer. The functions of the innovation intermediary are implemented in terms of cooperation with national production centres, as well as the use of international investment standards and financial reporting standards, which will provide opportunities for the transfer of innovation abroad. The developed methodological support for the commercialisation of intellectual results of innovation activities of industrial enterprises provides for the consistent implementation of the stages of market valuation of intellectual property; marketing research of potential markets; determination of directions of commercial implementation of intellectual property objects and conclusion of relevant agreements; accounting for intangible assets; determining the volume and structure of investments; control over the implementation of contractual provisions; transfer of intellectual property. It is recommended to determine the market value of the intellectual property objects (patents for inventions) studied in the work according to the income approach and the method of direct capitalisation of income. As a result of application of methodical maintenance of commercialisation of objects of intellectual property, marketing researches and interrogation of representatives of the industrial enterprises of the Kharkiv region the enterprises which are interested in commercial implementation of the offered innovative projects are defined. The developed proposals are brought to the level of methodological approaches, and their practical implementation in the context of investment and innovation activities of industrial enterprises of the Kharkiv region proved their practical significance and feasibility of further use of the existing tools.

The analysis of an industrial cluster has become the main discussion to explain the firm agglomerations success worldwide in the last decade. This discussion has given a bigger dimension in economic terms, especially about the strategic management of the local productive chains. This paper aims to contribute to the theoric development of the theme by the proposition of an industrial cluster typology method considering that the set of local variables related to the firms characteristics are essential for the strengthening of the interfirms relationship and consequently their performance. The theoretical basis of this study are the types of clusters found in literature and the research object are the footwear firms (CPCF) from Franca S. Paulo state. The data analysis used was the descriptive statistics tecnicques as well as multivaried exploratory methods. From the theoretical view this study enabled the identification of multiple characacteristics derived from different cluster typologies within the same productive chain. Which extended the perpective about the strategic role played by the local cooperation and also offered the possibility of the managers and institution representatives reflect on the governance principles adopted in collective actions.
A análise de Cluster industrial tornou-se na última década o centro da discussão para explicar o sucesso de aglomerados de empresas em diversas regiões mundiais. Isso trouxe ao tema maior dimensão em termos econômicos, especialmente sobre a gestão estratégica de cadeia produtiva local. Esta tese tem objetivo de contribuir para o desenvolvimento teórico do tema por meio da proposição de um método de tipificação de Cluster industrial, considerando que o conjunto de variáveis locais, relacionadas às características dos clusters, são críticas para o fortalecimento das relações inter-firmas, e consequentemente para o desempenho dessas empresas. O soporte teórico desse trabalho são os tipos de Clusters existentes na literatura, e o objeto de pesquisa são as empresas do setor calçadista de Franca (CPCF), interior do Estado de São Paulo. A estratégia de análise dos dados utilizada baseou-se em técnicas estatísticas descritivas e métodos estatísticos exploratórios multivariados. Do ponto de vista teórico, o estudo permitiu identificar a existência de múltiplas características provenientes de diferentes tipologias de clusters presentes em uma mesma cadeia produtiva, o que ampliou a perspectiva sobre o papel estratégico das cooperações locais em termos do seu melhor aproveitamento, além de oferecer a possibilidade dos empresários e representantes das instituições refletirem sobre os princípios de governança adotados na gestão das ações coletivas da cadeia produtiva. Além da possibilidade do estudo ser aplicado a outras regiões onde ocorra a aglomeração de empresas que formam clusters.

A critical analysis of the definitions of "innovation" shows that its specific content, scientists reveal depending on the object (process or change, system or result) of research related to the goals, subject, research environment and other features that inherent in innovation. The analysis of the essence and features of innovations allowed to identify the main characteristics and criteria of this concept, namely: the presence of significant in terms of management nature of change; innovation must be characterized by scientific and technical novelty; manifestation of creative activity; high risk relationship; having the potential to increase the efficiency of all processes in general or in parts; achieving target efficiency; practical implementation, use in various fields of activity; ability to meet market demand, ie consumer needs; bring profit to business entities; the ability to create a long-lasting beneficial effect; ecological safety. The existing economic, legal and organizational opportunities for the creation, financing and commercialization of the results of innovative activities of industrial enterprises are analyzed. Existing organizational and economic mechanisms for innovation development are not effective. Оrganizational and economic bases of innovative activity of the industrial enterprise are formed. It is substantiated that the innovative economy should be provided through the support and development of enterprises focused on innovation. Such enterprises are innovative intermediaries. Methodical approach to the selection of innovative projects of an industrial enterprise according to the criteria of efficiency for the commercialization of the results of innovative activity is substantiated. Methodical approach to an estimation of economic efficiency of innovative projects is developed and the organizational maintenance of activity and interaction of the industrial enterprise and the innovative intermediary in the market of industrial innovations is substantiated. The developed methodological support for the commercialization of intellectual results of innovation activities of industrial enterprises provides for the consistent implementation of the stages of market valuation of intellectual property; marketing research of potential markets; determination of directions of commercial implementation of intellectual property objects and conclusion of relevant agreements; accounting for intangible assets; determining the volume and structure of investments; control over the implementation of contractual provisions; transfer of intellectual property.

Здійснено структуризацію підходів до визначення сутності інновацій; виявлено основні тренди в розвитку інноваційної діяльності в Україні за 2014– 2018 рр.; визначено специфіку, основні принципи та логіко-структурну схему формування й реалізації маркетингової збутової політики інноваційно активних промислових підприємств; удосконалено методологію обґрунтування факторів впливу на їх збутовий потенціал; виявлено закономірності залежності ефективності його використання від циклічності розвитку економіки та рентабельності продажів інноваційної продукції; обґрунтовано детермінанти зростання її рівня; удосконалено методологічне підґрунтя оптимізації джерел фінансування інновацій та структури витрат на маркетинг і збут промислових підприємств, визначення ефективності реалізації інноваційних проектів та конкурентної позиції інноваційно активних промислових підприємств України, вибору ними стратегії реалізації маркетингової збутової політики, формування регіональної збутової мережі, визначення оптимальних меж місткості ринку інноваційної продукції та центрів активізації впливу на цих ринках.
The thesis is aimed to develop theoretical basis methodology and methodical support for forming and realization of the marketing sales policy of innovatively active industrial enterprises of Ukraine. Marketing sales policy of innovatively active industrial enterprises should be simultaneously based on traditional principles of marketing, sales policy, innovation, as well as specific principles among that principles market potentiality, limited rationality, extended cyclicality, advance and parity adjustments were substantiated. Design and implementation of marketing sales policy were proposed to conduct by conforming the determinants of the current level of innovatively active industrial enterprises sales potential and opportunities for its expanding, network and structure innovative production distribution channels transformation, optimization of marketing and sales costs, stage of enterprise and products life cycles, market competitive relations and enterprise competitive position and sales profile, prospects of cooperation with other companies. Dependence of innovatively active industrial enterprises’ sales potential from the influence of internal managerial, productive and commercial parameters was assessed by logit-regression model of the sales volume binary indicator response on the changes in the levels of staff qualification, technological readiness of the enterprise to innovative updates, concentration and loyalty of customer base, product line innovation and cost-effectiveness of sales. Increasing the volume of financing of innovative production sales relatively to the total sales costs, as well as increasing customer loyalty were defined the main determinants of an expanse of the sales potential utilization efficiency for innovatively active industrial enterprises in engineering based on the multiple regression analysis results. The hypothesis about dependence of innovatively active enterprises’ sales potential utilization efficiency from the cycle of innovative production sales profitability and economic cycle was substantiated and empirically confirmed. Therefore, the imposition of internal sales profitability cycle on the macroeconomic cycle determines an occurrence of time lags in the sales potential utilization efficiency of innovatively active industrial enterprises. Trend-cycles models of time series developed in the thesis allow revealing the duration of GDP cycle for Ukraine, individual cycles of sales profitability for innovatively active industrial enterprises in engineering and time lags of reaction of sales potential efficiency on marketing sales policy measures implementation. The methodology and methodical instruments of the optimization of sources of innovations financing structure was improved in the thesis. The offered approach is based on nonlinear econometric modeling taking into account existing limitations of potentially available volumes of different financial sources evaluated by the system of one-factor and multiple linear and non-linear equations of financial resources volumes dependency from different economic factors. The new methodology of optimizing the costs on implementing marketing sales policy of innovatively active industrial enterprises was performed in the thesis. It provides formalizing the relationship between sales costs, revenue of enterprise and demand on innovation production and estimating the level of sales costs corresponding to the maximum level of innovatively active industrial enterprises revenue, determined by discrete Fourier transformation and regression analysis. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of innovative projects implementation by Ukrainian companies in the thesis combination of an additive model of estimating a set of efficiency parameters and a trinomial model of cost formation was proposed. In the thesis it is substantiated, that identification the competitive position of innovatively active industrial enterprises in the sale of innovative production have to be carried out by determining the integral indicator of competition and its spectral analysis; evaluation the structure of marketing sales policy channels and definition of the competitive position of enterprises in each of the innovation policy sales channels. This made it possible to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the innovatively active enterprises in engineering industry, as well as to form strategic directions for the intensification of the marketing sales policy tools in terms of price, market and financial channels of its implementation. In the thesis methodology for determining the optimal capacity limits of the innovatively active enterprises in engineering industry market of Ukraine was offered. Market capacity should be defined as a ratio of the sales (lower limit) and market potential (upper limit), which maximizes the efficiency of the engineering market, which was realized by the use of regression analysis, Harrington function and game theory. The strategy of marketing sales policy of the innovatively active industrial enterprises should be chosen on the basis of an analysis of the position of the enterprise in a three-dimensional matrix, the coordinates of which are generalized indicators of market capacity, the profile of innovative products, the level of competitiveness of the innovatively active industrial enterprise in the innovative production sales market. Methodical principles of grouping of innovatively active, innovatively inactive industrial enterprises of Ukraine and industrial enterprises implementing organizational and marketing innovations were deepened on the basis of k-means cluster analysis, construction of tree dendrograms and two-way joining procedure. The methodology of identification of the centers of activation and directions of influence of the innovatively active industrial enterprises marketing sales policy, which was offered in the thesis provides formalizing the explicit and implicit links between the countries in the course of implementing the marketing policy of the innovatively active industrial enterprises by the methods of cognitive analysis, taking into account the specificity and progress of the economic development of the partner countries.

Innovation is of increasing importance for raising the productivity, competitiveness and growth potential of modern economies (BIS 2010). New products are a form of innovation and New Product Development (NPD) is the term used to describe the innovation process of commercialising a new product idea. Due to the nature of innovation small-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) produce, typically ‘novel’ new-to-the world offerings that provide the highest potential contribution to the economy and businesses themselves, there is an increasing emphasis on NPD within SMEs. Despite this, there is a gap between existing knowledge of the requirements of success and their application in practice. Furthermore, there is increasing recognition within the literature that the process of innovation requires on-going maintenance, disciplined audit and renewal (Leonard-Barton 1995). SMEs in particular are finding the implementation of NPD success factors challenging(Humphreys, McAdam et al. 2005; Owens 2007) and there are limited in-depth studies on how this is achieved in practice. The research provides an understanding of the challenges SMEs face in adopting NPD success factors and develops an approach to overcome these challenges and support sustained success. The research consists of two cycles of action research involving active engagement within two independent SME contexts. The first cycle provided practical insights into challenges including factors relating to: people, process, politics and technology within SMEs. As a result the research focus was refined to consider learning as a mechanism to support the implementation and the renewal of successful NPD practices. A new model is developed, namely Logical Learning, which facilitates the development of: knowledge, skills and attitude within SMEs, for this purpose. The second cycle of action research developed a unique NPD programme that implemented the Logical Learning model within SMEs. Moreover, a comprehensive and rigorous framework for learning evaluation is developed and formally validated the significance of the model. Evidence has been generated that links the application of the model to learning within SMEs, learning to changes in behaviour and NPD practices, and changes in behaviour to organisation results. Logical Learning was initially applied through a regional programme in the West Midlands, UK, which supported innovation within SMEs. Following success over an 18 month period, the programme competed for and won a national contract to continue to deliver this support. Therefore a nationwide roll-out is currently planned. The implementation of the model has impacted on the commercial success of SMEs, so far resulting in 8 new product introductions to market. These product innovations have generated actual sales of between £50,000 and £14 million within individual SMEs for the period 2011-2012, with businesses forecasting significant increases of over 400% in the year ahead. Collectively these SMEs have generated 93 additional jobs within the West Midlands, which contribute to economic development within the UK. Additionally the SMEs have developed NPD capabilities including the implementation of more formalised approaches and effective resource management. Moreover, these SMEs report further business development achievements including establishing partnerships with marketleading organisations, international distribution agreements and further private investment to support business growth. The research proves how learning is at the heart of these achievements and provides a new perspective on how it is facilitated, to successfully improve: knowledge, skills and attitudes and ensure SMEs are better equipped to sustain NPD success.

In the final master work is analysing the industrial project management, its system and practical issues. Therefore is made analysis of theoretical aspects of fundamental project management methods. Questionnaire of manufacturing sector was made. Collected data about projects and its implementation from 42 enterprises of Lithuania industrial enterprises. Analysis is made by statistical data and empirical research results to evaluate parameters and successfulness of project management in industrial enterprises. Regression relationships are defined between organizational parameters and project implementation success. According to analysis of scientific literature, statistics and results of empirical research formed an improvement model of project management system in industrial organization.

Vykdyta gamybinio sektoriaus įmonių anketinė apklausa. Surinkti duomenys išš 42 Lietuvos pramonės įmonių apie projektus ir ju įgyvendinimą. Atlikta empirinių duomenų anlizė, kurios tikslas remiantis tyrimo ir statistiniais duomenimis įvertinti gamybos įmonių projektų parametrus bei jų įgyvendinamumą. Nustatytos regresinės priklauomybes tarp parinktų kriterijų ir projetų įgyvendinimo sėkmingumo įmonėse. Em mercados onde a necessidade de um olhar direcionado para a resolução de problemas complexos e busca da inovação é crescente, destaca-se o Design Estratégico, através de sua capacidade de lidar com contextos incertos e instáveis, ligar os pequenos detalhes a uma grande visão, e entender a conexão entre a concepção e a execução, fazendo deste um recurso promissor frente à economia contemporânea. O conceito do Design Estratégico investigado faz uso de uma metodologia típica para a busca da inovação, porém há poucos estudos conhecidos sobre a sua aplicabilidade em Micro e Pequenas Empresas. Colocando-se neste ponto, a pesquisa tem como objetivo fornecer indícios para a melhor forma de implementar as metodologias do Design Estratégico na busca da inovação liderada pelo design dentro da realidade das Micro e Pequenas Empresas. Procurou-se identificar os níveis de compreensão dos atores envolvidos, os momentos mais produtivos e as potencialidades de inovação para o contexto pesquisado. Frente a isso, a investigação conta com uma fundamentação teórica que embasa o estudo, o entendimento do ambiente vivenciado e a aplicação da metodologia do Design Estratégico através de pesquisa-ação realizada em uma pequena empresa desenvolvedora de mobiliário e acessórios. Os resultados colhidos mostraram a importância da adaptação das ferramentas de design ao meio específico e a relevância do papel do designer nesse processo, além de apontar indícios da influência do processo de design na cultura corporativa.
In markets where the need for a gaze directed to solving wicked problems and pursuit of innovation is increasing, stand out the Strategic Design, which is known for its ability to deal with uncertain and unstable contexts, connecting the small details of a grand vision, and understanding the connection between concept and execution, making this resource very promising regarding the contemporary economy. The concept of Strategic Design we investigated uses a typical approach to the pursuit of innovation, but with few known studies on applicability in Micro and Small Enterprises. Overcoming this point, the research aims to provide clues to better implement the Strategic Design methodologies in the pursuit of innovation led by design within the reality of Micro and Small Enterprises. We sought to identify the levels of understanding of the actors involved, the more productive times and potential for innovation to the researched context. The research has a theoretical basis that underlies the study, understanding the environment and experienced application of the methodology of Strategic Design through action research conducted in a home furnishings company. The final results showed the importance of adapting the tools to specific design environment and the fundamental role of the designer, emphasizing the design process influence on the corporate culture.

Servitization has been a recognized business phenomenon since the late 1980s to innovate a business’s capabilities and processes to create value for their customer through service. Recent technological advances, particularly in the capabilities being developed by the Internet of Things (IoT) could be an enabler for a servitzation transition at an organization. Servitization, enabled by the Internet of Things (IoT), has not been considered in the context of Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs). Due to the traits of SMEs, the potential opportunities from effectively servitizing their business models and the accessibility and affordability of IoT sensors, equipment and tools, there is a gap to be explored. This research provides an understanding of the many challenges SMEs face to remain competitive. Additionally, the research develops a framework that can help to overcome some of these challenges through the utilization of a Servitization business model and IoT technology and capability. The investigation and development of IoT-enabled Servitization for SMEs could potentially lead to new knowledge and innovation. Initially, main traits of SMEs were identified and then aspects of IoT and servitization were ascertained to find those that best align with the SME unique traits. From this understanding, a framework was developed that will allow Small to Medium sized Enterprises to utilise the technology and capabilities from the IoT in order to develop servitization within their business. This framework was then further developed through a longitudinal case study with an SME and validated by a range of industry stakeholders. The outcome resulted in a conceptual framework, based on academic literature, evolved in a real-world case study, and validated by professionals and stakeholders. This validation was conducted through the dissemination of the material on a professional program MSc module, presentation of the research at international conferences, and an event held with regional SMEs to gain insight on the final version of the framework. The framework can be used by SMEs or those consulting SMEs to help them develop strategy that creates value added services in their business that are enabled by the IoT.

Despite a growing interest in processes of diffusion within organisations and some understanding of the social processes of creating and enacting external and internal IT innovations, little empirical research has studied potentially relevant intra-organisational diffusion dynamics underlying the movement of innovations adopted at an organisational level, into the front-line practices of organisational subunits. Furthermore, we know even less about the diffusion processes of non-transactional digital innovations, such as enterprise social networking (ESN). ESNs embedded “ideology of openness” and its nontransactional nature particularly create social tensions that largely run against the grain of organisational rationality and efficiency, pervade key organisational processes and lead to wide variations in how organisational actors interpret and appropriate ESN features within organisations. The goal of this research is to theorize about the institutional mechanisms and processes by which these highly flexible digital innovations become misaligned, aligned and diffused at the micro-level of everyday work, as well as the enabling and precipitating dynamics that condition and trigger these mechanisms. This theorization involved a longitudinal exploration of how different communities of actors in a globally distributed technology services firm appropriated an ESN platform over a four year period, and how managerial intervention shaped appropriation outcomes. These dynamics can be understood through a rhetorical legitimation lens as a process where organisational actors with competing interests use strategic communications, to legitimate and enable the generation of collective meanings around distinctly different IT features and practices. Findings indicate that the core internal diffusion process was intra-organisational theorizing around ESN. Intra-organisational theorizing was an on-going process of elaborating and refining the organisational level theorization for ESN to suit front- line employees in their immediate contexts. In this way, it gradually helped to standardize and scale the ESNs features and functions as it was appropriated by different communities of actors (infusion). In each infusion, intra-organisational theorizing unfolded in three cumulative and relatively sequential phases of legitimation: (1) rationale framing (2) value advertising, and (3) motivating engagement, which were instrumental for respectively managing political, technical and cultural institutional misalignments, and promoting intra-group meaning making. On the other hand, negotiation and inter-group meaning-making was enabled by strategically grafting on other intra-organisational theorizations, and co-opting people, ESN functions, and practices from other infusions. Further, these legitimation processes unfolded as a sequence of primarily pragmatic pathos and logos appeals. In particular, early and on-going logos appeals helped to de-legitimate established, competing technologies, and directly enabled legitimation and collective meaning-making around ESN.

Since the 21st century, with the further development of globalization, innovation resources came into an open innovation era. Innovation resources can flow freely in a global scale. In the process of flow, innovation resources agglomeration in some cities, makes these cities become the global science and technology innovation center. Innovation has become the most important source of competitive advantage, and building innovative capacity can provide a strong impetus for the comprehensive competitiveness and economic prosperity (Porter & Stern, 2001). Innovation resources agglomeration makes innovation happen continuously, thus makes the global science and technology innovation center becomes the new engine and important support of national comprehensive strength. After two major industrial structure shift, the traditional development advantages are vanishing. The current economic growth of Shanghai is below the national average; the traditional development advantage is gradually weakening. At the same time, China's economy is faced with an L-shaped recession (Lei, 2016). Therefore, to become the global science and technology innovation center is not only necessary for Shanghai’s own transformation and development, but also accordance with the national development strategy. The aim of the Chinese government is to preliminarily finishes the work of develop Shanghai into the global science and technology innovation center during the period of 13th Five-Year Development Plan1 (from 2016 to 2020). Improve the innovation resources agglomeration capacity of Shanghai, and maximum accumulate innovation resources is the key to success. The existing studies have shown that innovation resources agglomeration has the characteristic of self-organizing, and there is the Matthew effect in this process: the better the innovation foundation, the more obvious the agglomeration effect, and vice versa. This research will from the perspective of the innovation system theory, using DEA method to study the R&D resources utilization efficiency of Shanghai’s industrial enterprises above designated size, demonstrates the deficiencies of Shanghai’s innovation resources agglomeration foundation, and put forward suggestions for improvement.

Competitive environment results in positive changes in market agents' relations. At the same time, it is characterized by constant, often unpredictable, changes in the conditions of their existence, which, for one, positively affects production activity, while others have a negative impact on efficiency, often leading them to bankruptcy. These features of the competitive environment require the identification of the mechanism of adaptation of enterprises to its changes, namely, the reengineering of the internal environment of the enterprise, in accordance with the variability of external economic conditions, based on a certain production policy.

The spectacular ubiquity of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in developing countries suggests high levels of entrepreneurship, while the artistic variety of their products implies high creativity and innovation. In spite of such entrepreneurial verve, MSEs in developing countries return low productivity and stunted growth. Towards understanding this paradoxical phenomenon, this thesis proffers the following: Firstly, given the prodigious nature of the entrepreneurship concept, the small firm is conceptualised as an instance of entrepreneurship. In turn, a more exacting specification of particular elements of small firms, for example, precise productivity and growth determinants, is advocated. Secondly, to elucidate the link between innovation and growth, this thesis avers that innovation inputs, such as investments in research and development, should be conceptually distinguished from observed ‘novation’. The later is termed enovation. As such, product enovation, such as that characterising artisanal firms, may be observed independent of R&D inputs. Espousing these conceptualisations, this thesis conducts an empirical study of the effect of product enovation on firm productivity and employment growth amongst garment-making micro and small firms in Nairobi, Kenya. The findings suggest that while innovation efforts (R&D) is a significant driver of productivity, product enovation in itself has no impact on firm performance.

Cependant, on peut difficilement considérer qu’à ce jour l’UE mène unevéritable politique de compétitivité internationale permettant de soutenir son industrie.L’objet de cette thèse est d’évaluer le « manque à gagner » dont souffre l’Union enraison de sa passivité. Le premier chapitre introduit les principes de la politiqueindustrielle et examine les facteurs de blocage et les échecs de l’Union, dans le butd’expliquer l’absence d’une politique industrielle active. Le second chapitre étudie lapolitique de la concurrence ainsi que la politique commerciale, qui semblent avoirconsidérablement limité la mise en place d’une telle politique industrielle au sein del’UE. While the economic dynamism of the European Union relies on itsindustry, one can hardly consider that the EU is currently pursuing a real internationalcompetitiveness policy to support it. The purpose of this thesis is to assess the shortfallafflicting the EU because of its passive approach. The first chapter of this thesisintroduces the principles of industrial policy and examines a number of factors andfailures impeding its application, to explain the absence of an active industrial policy.The second chapter examines the EU competition policy, as well as its trade policy,which have considerably limited the implementation of such an industrial policywithin the EU. In the final of magistral work I investigate to create model of Lean manufacturing implementation. I am mostly concentrated in studying of reasons Lean manufacturing implementation failure in Lithuanian industry. In the thirst part there is analysis of scientific – methodic literature on theme of Lean manufacturing implementation, lean manufacturing tools, main problems and difficulties implementing Lean manufacturing. In the second part there is information about surveys of trend f Lean manufacturing implementation in Lithuanian industry. Questionnaire has been concluded and sent to industrial companies. Also was made interview in 5 different companies. And for reasons identification of Lean manufacturing implementation failure I performed test in one company, where participate 5 persons. In the third part I performed the Lean manufacturing implementation model suitable for Lithuanian industry. Advantage of new model is that there is a new stage – preparation, implementing Lean manufacturing. This stage is necessary in our industry, because staff is not ready for total changes. I mind that my model would be very helpful for the beginning companies for installment Lean. The final work is consisted of four parts: introduction, analysis of scientific literature, empiric surveys and description of the new created model including the implementation. Baigiamajame magistro darbe nagrineju Lean gamybos valdymo sistemos diegimas Lietuvos pramonės įmonėse. Labiausiai koncentruotojos ties Lean gamybos valdymo sistemos diegimo Lietuvos pramonės nesėkmės priežasčių nustatymu ir Lean gamybos valdymo sistemos diegimo modelio sukūrimu, kuris atitiktų Lietuvos pramonei. Pirmoje dalyje atlikta mokslinės – mėtodinės literatūros analizę Lean gamybos valdymo sistemos diegimo tema, aprašiau pagrindines sąvokas. Išnagrinejau įvairius Lean gamybos valdymo sistemos diegimo aspektus. Įsisgilinau į Lean gamybos valdymo sistema bei išanalizavau Lean gamybos valdymo sistema ir Lean instrumentų pritaikimas. Antroje dalyje yra pateikiama Lietuvos pramonės įmonių Lean gamybos valdymo sistemos plėtros tendencijų tyrimus. Buvo sudaryta klausimų anketa ir išsiustos į pramonės įmonės. Taip pat atlikta interviu aplkausa ir atliktas testas su personalu. Remiantis gautais rezultatais pateikiami pasiūlymai Lean gamybos valdymo sistemos diegimui Lietuvos pramonės įmonėse. Trečioje dalyje aprašytas mano sukurtas Lean gamybos valdymo sistemos diegimo modelis Lietuvos pramonės įmonėse. Taip pat nubraižytas ir suskirstytas į modelis į diegimo etapus. Kiekviename etape yra įvardijami diegimo žingsniai. Modelio privalumas yra tame, kad jis skirtas Lietuvos pramonės įmonėms. In modern conditions of innovative development, the most important resource of production companies and corporations is the innovative susceptibility (IS) of personnel. The key to this is an innovative organization of Human Recourse Management System (HRMS). Accordingly, the task of the study is to analyze the typical HRMS structures of Ukrainian enterprises in comparison with the global ones in order to form an innovative HRMS development strategy and, on this basis, to increase IS of stuff. The goal of this study is to compare the levels of HRMS development in advanced global companies and Ukrainian enterprises in the field of industrial automation. As part of this study, methodological, statistical analysis method of technical and economic characteristics of Ukrainian and world leaders of enterprises in the field of industrial automation are used. The research methodology consists in processing and disclosing theoretical and methodical units and practical recommendations, which requires the use of innovative personnel using personal industrial enterprises engaged in industrial automation. The HRMS has an impact on personnel, and personnel has an impact on HRMS, without enhancing the personnel IS HRMS will not give positive results from the introduction of innovative innovations in the innovative activities of the IS personnel.

The increasing concern with environmental damage and climate change has highlighted the importance of environmental innovations (EI) as an alternative to current technological standards. This thesis aims to contribute to the analysis of the determinants of environmental innovation and also to the identification of the effects of the adoption of environmental innovations on labor demand and performance of Brazilian manufacturing firms. Based on panel data between 1998 and 2008, the results obtained in Chapter 2 corroborate international evidence on the determinants of environmental innovation adoption. The environmental inducement hypothesis is verified, indicating that environmental regulation has an important role to influence the Brazilian firms in order to adopt both technical and organizational environmental innovations. Specifically related to developing countries innovative processes, our results confirm that foreign owned firms are significantly more likely to adopt \"green\" innovation, usually through capital embodied technology transfer and licensing agreements. The size of the firm and physical capital intensity are also important determinants of environmental innovation in Brazilian manufacturing firms. In Chapter 3 we use a translog cost function approach and we analyze the impact of environmental innovations on employment shares and wage bill shares in Brazilian manufacturing industries. The results obtained indicate that environmental technologies are unskilled biased, favoring blue-collar positions and wages, relative to white-collar ones. The \"green-collar\" jobs deriving from the green technologies adopted are in many situations (especially in low and medium technological intensive industrial sectors) filled by blue-collar workers, trained with green skills and thus capable of dealing with environmental preservation challenges. On the other hand, organizational environmental innovations registered a negative impact in blue-collar employment and wage bill shares, reinforcing the skill biased organizational change hypothesis, as the white-collar workforce is better prepared to deal with increased uncertainty, multi-tasking activities and increased responsibility. Concerning the effects of environmental innovation adoption on performance, Chapter 4 modeling strategy is based on a translog production function, due to its flexibility to represent different production structures, especially in the case of more than two factor inputs. The results indicate that both technical EI and organizational EI have positive impact on Brazilian manufacturing firms\' value added. We analyze four different types of technical EI in order to consider different characteristics of each type of EI, including those that reduce resources consumption and those that reduce environmental negative externalities, traditionally understood as additional compliance costs. All the different types of EI tested registered positive correlation with value added change. Pollution abatement investment was also tested and indicated positive effects on value added, even if to a lesser extent.
A crescente preocupação com a degradação ambiental e variações climáticas trouxe à tona a importância de inovações ambientais (IA) como uma alternativa ao padrão tecnológico atual. Esta tese tem como objetivo contribuir para a análise dos determinantes da inovação ambiental e também para a identificação dos seus efeitos sobre a demanda por mão de obra e sobre o valor adicionado das indústrias de transformação brasileiras. Utilizando dados de painel entre 1998 e 2008, os resultados obtidos no capítulo 2 corroboram a evidência internacional sobre os determinantes da adoção de inovações ambientais. A hipótese de viés ambiental é verificada, o que indica que a regulação ambiental apresenta um papel importante para influenciar as firmas brasileiras a adotar tanto inovações ambientais tecnológicas quanto organizacionais. Em relação especificamente ao processo inovativo em países em desenvolvimento, nossos resultados confirmam que empresas de capital estrangeiro têm maior probabilidade de adotar inovações \"verdes\", geralmente através de transferência tecnológica e acordos de licenciamento. O tamanho da firma e a intensidade de capital físico também são importantes determinantes da inovação ambiental nas indústrias de transformação brasileiras. No capítulo 3 utilizamos uma abordagem baseada na função de custo translog e analisamos o impacto de inovações ambientais na participação de emprego e massa salarial nas indústrias brasileiras de manufatura. Os resultados obtidos indicam que as tecnologias ambientais são enviesadas para o trabalho não qualificado, favorecendo o emprego e salários de mão de obra menos qualificada (ou diretamente ligada à produção) em detrimento da mão de obra mais qualificada (ou não diretamente ligada à produção). Os empregos \"verdes\" derivados da adoção de tecnologias ambientais são, em muitos casos (especialmente nos setores de baixa ou média intensidade tecnológica), ocupados por trabalhadores de baixa qualificação treinados com habilidades \"verdes\" e, portanto, capacitados para lidar com os desafios da preservação do meio ambiente. Por outro lado, as inovações ambientais organizacionais registraram um impacto negativo na contratação e nos salários de mão de obra de baixa qualificação, reforçando a hipótese de mudança tecnológica enviesada para a qualificação, uma vez que a mão de obra qualificada é mais bem preparada para lidar com o aumento da incerteza, atividade multitarefas e aumento de responsabilidade. Em relação aos efeitos da adoção de inovações ambientais no valor adicionado da empresa, no capítulo 4 adotamos como estratégia de modelagem uma função de produção translog, devido à sua flexibilidade para representar diferentes estruturas produtivas, especialmente no caso de mais de dois fatores de produção. Os resultados indicam que tanto as IA tecnológicas quanto as organizacionais apresentam impacto positivo sobre o valor adicionado das firmas brasileiras. Nós analisamos quatro tipos diferentes de IA tecnológicas com o intuito de considerar as diferentes características de cada tipo de IA, incluindo aquelas que reduzem o consumo de recursos e aquelas que reduzem as externalidades negativas sobre o meio ambiente, tradicionalmente entendidas como custos adicionais de conformidade à regulação ambiental vigente. Todos os diferentes tipos de IA testados registraram correlação positiva com variações no valor adicionado. Investimento em redução de poluição também foi testado e indicou efeito positive sobre o valor adicionado, ainda que em menor intensidade.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The objective of this study is to develop a tool to enable manufacturing enterprises to develop a sustainability strategy suited to their specific business. In the study, the business reality that faces enterprises is discussed from a systems perspective. The concepts of sustainability and sustainable development are explored. Specific attention is paid to building mental models of what these concepts entail and the application thereof in individual manufacturing enterprises. Specific strategies and concepts, such as the Five Capitals Model, the Natural Step and Industrial Ecology, are highlighted. These tools and strategies are then consolidated into a ―Sustainable Roadmap‖, a tool to facilitate the development of a sustainability strategy. The ―Sustainability Roadmap‖ is tested by applying it to a case study.

This licentiate thesis combines three different topics, the small business environment, industrial design and rapid tooling. Smaller companies often suffer from lack of resources in many ways and since most theoretical product development methods are formulated for larger companies, this is a problem. The possibility to design and give their products the desired form is therefore difficult. Rapid tooling is a new way of producing forming tools that cut the cost and lead time compared to conventional tooling methods. The aim of this thesis is to investigate and clarify if Rapid tooling is a solution to the problem of using forming tools in smaller companies. These tools can be used both as early prototype tools to verify a design and make a basis for decision of acquiring conventional tools for long production series, and as production tools for shorter production series. Paper A explains the initial problem formulation and the combining of the three topics. Also a small case study is included to help clarifying the aim to find a way for smaller companies to use forming tools that are adapted to their specific situation. Paper B focuses on the implementation of Rapid Tooling methods in smaller companies and whether to make the tools in-house with an own RT-machine, or buy the service externally from a service provider. Paper C deals with the question of how to choose the right RT-method for your specific situation. Each RT-method has its own advantages as well as disadvantages and are more suited for certain types of applications. It is therefore important to choose the right RT-method that is best for your product and what kind of tool you need. The thesis is concluded with plans for further research.
