The vocabulary of happiness and joy in Plautus and Cicero. The terms of these two lexical fields are compared, going deeper than simply the usual translations. Happiness is related to life’s opportunities and changes (fortunatus), is a dynamic of success (felix), or results from a process in which expectations are met, procuring inner fulfilment (beatus). While gaudium is often more neutral, laetitia refers rather to a strong inner or outer impact. Finally, the links between happiness and joy are complex. The inner fulfilment of happiness restored is scarcely mentioned by Plautus, but characterises the happiness of the philosopher, although Cicero emphasises that the condition of beatus cannot be founded on the exuberance and fragility of laetitia.

The purpose of this study is to examine happiness according to Afif Muhammad clearly, and how to achieve happiness. This research is a qualitative research. The method used is library research and interviews. The data sources used are Primary and Secondary Data. This study concludes that according to Afif Muhammad, happiness is an inner or mental situation that a person has in which a person feels calm, peaceful and safe and can also be felt by those around him. If someone has felt happiness then he will radiate that happiness to the people around him. He divided the stages of happiness into three categories: Lay level, Intermediate level, and Supreme Level. This division is not meant to distinguish the form of happiness but so that we can measure our level of happiness at which level. As for the factors that we must have to achieve happiness, namely: by having an honest nature and not hating anyone so that our lives become calm and can achieve true happiness.

This study aims to understand financial treatment in the application of mental accounting related to self-control and self-efficacy. This study used the literature review method to take the 25 most relevant articles. The meaning of happiness depends on one's conception in describing it. This conception provides a frame that a person is happy with every decision he makes. Whether it's just to be happy born or even both. However, the addition of spiritualism in carrying out actions forms inner and outer happiness because happiness is formed by serving God.

The most important goal in human life is to achieve happiness, and because people are subject to certain ideas and beliefs and have a different system of thought, it has led to different interpretations of happiness. If the Sufis interpret happiness around the orbit of inner happiness in the soul, not related to material achievements such as money, children, prestige, offspring, and others, then this is different from the interpretation of the happiness of two Muslim philosophers, Ibn Sīnā and al-Fārābī. In this article, with a descriptive-analytical method and using library resources, we first try to study the lexicon of the word happiness and the views of other thinkers in this regard, in the following, what are happiness, the levels of happiness, and the classification of happiness in the intellectual system of Ibn Sīnā and al-Fārābī. Happiness in Ibn Sīnā and al-Fārābī's thought is the same concern of human perfectionism from the beginning of creation, and this has caused these two philosophers to discuss this in their different works, and both philosophers do not know human happiness as anything other than reaching God and His pleasure.

Aristotle discusses the issue of justice in Volume V of the Nicomachan Ethics, including the connotation of justice, several types of justice, and the relationship between justice and willing behavior. Aristotle seems to have no rules and regulations in his discourse, but in fact, he has his inherent logic. Aristotle first provides a specific explanation of justice and divides it into overall justice and specific justice. Overall justice is related to virtue, reflecting more of an individual's quality and possessing individuality; The specific justice is closely related to the life of the city-state, and is also the main object of discussion by the Aristocrats. The purpose of discussing justice is also for the overall happiness of the city-state. It is not difficult to see the city-state nature of the justice it discusses, and natural justice and agreed justice are closely related to the evolution of the city-state. Finally, Aristotle brought justice back to the individual, exploring the relationship between justice, injustice, and willful behavior, returning to individuality, which is also the individuality in the city-state. It can be said that Aristotle's theory of justice is interpreted along the internal logic of individuality, city-state, and individuality. However, at the same time, city-state cannot represent complete justice and happiness, so justice ultimately returns to the soul quality of the individual. Justice is the manifestation of individual virtue in the city-state, and city-state and individuality complement each other to achieve the goal of justice - the happiness of the political community.

The thinking of the relationship between virtue and happiness in the excavated document Qiongdayishi 《窮達以時》 shows many links with other extant literatures. Qiongdayishi is the reflection made by Confucius and his disciplines in a life crisis. It does not consider that there is an inner correspondence between virtue and happiness, which is the same in other Confucian literature. Besides, it gives a new explanation of Qiong 窮 and Da 達, turning them to the issue of moral autonomy of human beings. It indicates that the idea of virtue and happiness of Confucianism is complex and cannot be understood in one perspective.

This study aims to determine the organizational climate's effect on work happiness with Islamic religiosity as a moderator variable for Islamic-based school teachers in the Banyumas Regency. A correlational quantitative approach was used for this study. Respondents in this study were 86 permanent teachers. Data collection uses the happiness at organizational ClimateCare and Islamic religious scale. The data analysis technique used tests the outer and inner models with the SmartPLS 3.0 tool. The research findings show that organizational climate and Islamic religiosity have a significant effect on happiness at work. However, the moderator test shows no significant effect between organizational climate and happiness at work when Islamic religiosity functions as a moderator variable. The recommendation from the research is that to increase happiness in the workplace needs to pay attention to personal and organizational factors. Although Islamic religiosity does not moderate the relationship between organizational climate and happiness at work, further research can be conducted to gain a deeper understanding of other variables that function as moderators.

Although their intimate lives are often adversely affected by homonegative laws and conservative religio-cultural attitudes, many Malaysian gay men formulate affirming materialist-discursive strategies to pursue personal happiness. Some Christian gay men, for instance, challenge conservative ecclesiastical notions of same-sex attraction as iniquitous and generate life-giving spiritualities for themselves that contribute to a sense of inner joy and equanimity. In this article, aided primarily by Sara Ahmed’s provocative ideas on happiness, I analyse the lived experiences of a Malaysian Christian gay man, and theorise the notion of deviant happiness, which I suggest is a pathway to queer spiritual well-being. Then, drawing on the Catechism of the Catholic Church’s exposition of the beatitudes, I theologically propose that his active pursuit of happiness and well-being as a gay man participates in God’s own beatitude.

Abstract. Toxic relationships can cause inner conflict within oneself. This inner conflict can lead to anger, depression, or anxiety. This makes it difficult for those who are involved in it to live a productive and healthy life. This study aims to determine the relationship between expectations and self-esteem on happiness in people who have a toxic relationship with psychological health. The method in this research is correlational quantitative with scale data collection tools, especially the attitude scale in the form of a Likert. The subjects in this study were 49 people. Collecting data used in this research is by distributing instrument questionnaires, Self Esteem Inventory scale which contains twelve items. Meanwhile, to measure happiness the scale used is the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire. The results showed that self-esteem and expectations influence a person's level of happiness. This means that someone's happiness will be high if he has high self-esteem and expectations. However, when experiencing a toxic relationship, self-esteem and expectations will decrease which makes the level of happiness felt low.Keywords: Self-Esteem, Hope, Happiness, Toxic Relationship Abstrak. Toxic relationship dapat menyebabkan terjadinya konflik batin dalam diri. Konflik batin ini akan mengarah pada amarah, depresi, atau kecemasan. Hal ini menyebabkan mereka yang terlibat di dalamnya kesulitan untuk hidup produktif dan sehat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara harapan dan harga diri terhadap kebahagiaan pada orang yang mengalami toxic relationship dengan kesehatan psikologis. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif korelasional dengan alat pengumpul data skala khususnya skala sikap yang berbentuk likert. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 49 orang. Pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yakni dengan menyebarkan kuesioner instrumen, skala Self Esteem Inventory yang berisikan dua belas aitem. Sedangkan untuk mengukur kebahagiaan skala yang digunkan yakni Oxford Happiness Questionnare. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa harga diri dan harapan memiliki pengaruh terhadap tingkat kebahagiaan seseorang. Artinya kebahagiaan seseorang akan tinggi apabila ia memiliki harga diri dan harapan yang tinggi. Namun saat mengalami toxic relationship harga diri dan harapan akan menurun yang membuat tingkat kebahagiaan yang dirasakan rendah.Kata Kunci: Harga Diri, Harapan, Kebahagiaan, Toxic Relationship

The level of welfare is only measured using objective and subjective standards for all this time. The objective standard can be in the form of per capita income, while the subjective standard is a different standard for each individual, one of which is the happiness index. The aims of this study were (1) to analyze the level of happiness of rural youth in farming, (2) to determine the dominant factors determining the happiness of rural youth in farming, (3) to determine the motives of rural youth in farming, for the sake of wealth or happiness in life. This research was conducted in Gedangsewu Village, Pare District, and Kediri Regency in March-August 2021. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive sampling method with a total of 50 respondents. Determination of the weight of the happiness indicator using the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) method. The analytical method used to determine the level of happiness of young farmers is the method of calculating the happiness index. The happiness index score of rural youth in farming is 68.30 (more than 55) which means that village youth are happy with their work as farmers, but the score is still below the average score of the national happiness level (72).The indicator of the purpose of life in the dimension of the meaning of life is the dominant factor determining the happiness of young farmers. The motive of rural youth in farming is more inclined to inner happiness than wealth. This can be categorized as a moral cultural base motive.

The article presents a comparative study of the Russian and Chinese traditional concepts of “happiness” from a linguistic-cultural point of view. The author analyzes similarities and differences of the concept “happiness” in Russian and Chinese linguistic cultures by examining the etymology of the word “happiness” and its use in proverbs and sayings, as well as interprets the reasons for these differences. On the basis of sociological surveys the author investigates current ideas of happiness of Russian and Chinese youth in the context of globalization and analyzes the impact of the coronavirus epidemic on the perception of the concept “happiness” by young people of the two countries. The article concludes that the views of the happiness among young people in China and Russia are somewhat similar, but at the same time have individual characteristics. The concept “happiness” for Chinese youth is mainly focused on the personal and family aspects and is more susceptible to external evaluations. Some young people show a strong attraction to material goods in their pursuit of happiness, while Russian youth see happiness as their own unique experience, attaching great importance to inner harmony, self-actualization, and self-esteem. The article notes that most young people in the two countries believe that the coronavirus epidemic has had an impact on their perception of happiness, with more emphasis on such factors as “health”, “family”, and “peacefulness”; under the influence of globalization and the coronavirus epidemic, Russian and Chinese youth have developed a complex perception of happiness, characterized by both the priority of spiritual values and passive consumer utilitarianism, which has given rise to a variety of models for young people in China and Russia to achieve happiness.

Background: Happiness is a feeling, an immediate experience, not a cognitive construct. It is based on activity in the brain’s neurobiological reward and motivation systems, which have been retained in evolution. This conceptual review provides an overview of the basic neurobiological principles behind happiness phenomena and proposes a framework for further classification. Results: Three neurobiologically distinct types of happiness exist: (A) wanting, (B) avoiding, and (C) non-wanting. Behind these types lies a dynamic gradation, ranging from the more youthful anticipation, pleasure and ecstasy (A), to stress processing, escape and relief (B) as we find them accentuated in the middle-aged, to deep satisfaction, quiescence and inner joy (C), which is particularly attributed to older people. As a result, the development of happiness and satisfaction over the course of life typically takes the form of a U-curve. Discussion: The outlined triad and dynamic of happiness leads to the paradoxical finding that the elderly seem to be the happiest—a phenomenon that is termed “satisfaction paradox”. This assumed change in happiness and contentment over the life span, which includes an increasing “emancipation” from the idea of good health as a mandatory prerequisite for happiness and contentment, can itself be changed—it is trainable. Understanding of what promotes mental health and wellbeing and its importance for educational attainment, productivity, reducing crime, positive health behaviours and quality of life is improving (Foresight, 2008; HM Government, 2010a). Individuals can act on their own account (Aked et al, 2008), but public sector organisations could take more advantage of the ‘feel good – do well’ dynamic, not only as employers but as policy makers, commissioners and service providers. Building on the capabilities and resources of individuals and communities also offers institutions an opportunity to mitigate financial and policy constraints. This paper describes an approach to public mental health in an inner London borough and the opportunities for, and barriers to, strategic change. Results are encouraging but emphasise the importance of taking a long view, senior leadership, dedicated capacity for cross-sector coordination, evidence and measurement, dogged persistence, and a balance of vision and opportunism.

Objectives Recently, while the importance of human rights and happiness of children and adolescents has been highlighted, it is reported that Korean adolescents have a significantly lower sense of happiness compared to adolescents from other countries. In such a situation, it is very important to find out what the youth thinks of happiness and in what circumstances they feel it is very important in that it lays the basis for interventions for their happiness in the future. Therefore, in this study, the purpose of this study was to find out what the factors attributing happiness to high school students were. Methods To achieve the purpose of this study, an open-ended questionnaire survey was conducted to collect questions from high school students located in Chungcheongnam-do. Preliminary questions about the reasons for happiness and unhappiness were collected through the questionnaire, and a test tool for happiness attribution was developed through item relevance evaluation. Results The results obtained in this study are first, according to the thematic analysis results, high school students attribute happiness to seven factors: family factor, friendship, relationship with the opposite sex, personal characteristics, ability, effort, and life satisfaction. Second, as a result of factor analysis of 90 happiness statements through item relevance evaluation, a total of five factors were analyzed: family factor, personal characteristics, life satisfaction, self-efficacy, and friendship. Conclusions This study has significance as a study related to the happiness of adolescents in that the sense of happiness felt during adolescence plays an important role in helping adolescents acquire a sense of identity and lead their own inner growth to grow into correct adults. In addition, it can be seen as a meaningful study in that it tried to systematically elucidate the factors of happiness by analyzing the validity of the classification revealed in the subject analysis method through factor analysis in detail.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of 8 weeks of HRV (Heart Rate Variability) training on the happiness and coherence levels of university students. According to this purpose, 20 sports management students from the same class volunteered to participate in the study. 10 students were selected randomly as the experimental group while the other 10 were control group. Data was collected with Oxford Happiness Inventory and Inner Balance HeartMath (biofeedback device). 8 weeks of HRV training was applied to the experiment group every night before going to sleep. After 8 weeks, the results showed a significant difference between pretest and post-test results p < 0.05. The experimental group increased their happiness and coherence while the control group decreased. In other words, the experimental group is now happier and more coherent.

Is devoted to the study of the concept of “happiness” based on the novel by Elizabeth Gilbert “Eat. Pray. Love”. The object of the study is fiction travel literature. The subject is the concept of “happiness” and its translation features from English into Russian. The purpose of this study is to identify typical cognitive models “happiness is...” and to study the translation features of fiction travel literature. The study identified and analyzed the cognitive models that make up the concept of “happiness” in the analyzed novel: 1) enjoyment of food; 2) search for peace of mind and your inner “I”; 3) love; 4) obtaining new knowledge; 5) travel; 6) being alone. The corpus of examples is 100 units. The analysis of the factual material showed that the most frequent grammatical transformations include grammatical substitutions; the most popular lexical and semantic transformations are modulation and concretization; omissions and additions make up the most commonly used additional translation transformations. Based on the analyzed linguistic units, we conclude that the cognitive model laid down by Elizabeth Gilbert in the concept of “happiness” in American culture is reflected in other cultures as well, representing a universal value.

Abstract The main objective of the following text is to focus on and exemplify the basic axioms of theories of happiness that come from historical and philosophical tradition and are still, at least in some cases, relevant nowadays. As philosophers claim, the longing for happiness is a naturally human desire that has taken various forms in their thinking: happiness was connected with beatitude (Aristotle), with self-preservation (Spinoza), social helpfulness (Hume), living in the present moment without expostulations or false illusions (Comte-Sponville), and others. The desire for happiness means the main aim of a human life drives particular life goals and the values of individuals. Concepts of happiness have accrued in diachronic and synchronic cross-sections. The Aristotelian/Spinozan conception or Kantian, modern and postmodern traditions formed in a diachronic cross-section. Those that accrued in a synchronic cross-section segregated themselves on the basis of an individual’s spiritual and bodily aspect. Spiritual happiness (spiritual bliss, and inner equilibrium, ataraxis) was preferred by the eudaimonic (ευδαιμονία) tradition (Democritus, Socrates, Aristotle, Hellenism, French materialism and others); bodily pleasures were accentuated by the hedonistic traditions (Lipovetsky, Bauman, Keller). Some conceptions examined the problem of happiness through the optics of society and the individual, stressing general goodness and helpfulness (Plato, Aristotle, Kant); or personal goodness, pleasure and benefit – the contemporary hedonistic concepts (Lipovetsky, Maffesoli, Comte-Sponville) All these conceptions of happiness are united by the common desire of people to live happily; however, their means and ways to reach such a goal are different.

The article under consideration is aimed at cross-cultural quantified associative mapping of the universal concept “happiness” and shaping the hierarchy of its cornerstone axiological constituents as perceived by Russian, French and English linguosocieties within the framework of the global pandemic reality. “Happiness” has been subject to transdisciplinary investigation since ancient times due to its dynamic character and ambiguity. The concept of “happiness”, although psychologically ingrained and biologically predetermined, can change significantly based on different outer and inner factors. It demonstrates an undeniable potential for multiple perceptions, various patterns of ethnic-specific and highly personalized verbalization, requiring unification and analysis of different sociocultural stimuli that trigger off this or that row of associations. The authors provide keen insight into the semantics of the concept and its static lexicographic axiological paradigm in the Russian, French and English languages. Three associative surveys were carried out through Google-forms to estimate the degree at which the “static projection” of “happiness” is relevant nowadays in pandemic-shaken societies as well as collect free associations, manually contrast the data and establish parallels and peculiarities within up-to-date Russian, French and English (American) visions of “happiness”. The survey results testify to the fact that “health”, “family”, “peace” and “freedom” are universally recognized constituents of “happiness” while certain elements prove to be ethnic-specific and arise due to concrete social circumstances.

We aimed to determine the relationship between gaming disorder, narcissism, and happiness levels of children between the ages of 9 and 15. This study was based on the compensation theory. The sample consists of 461 boys who continue their education in public schools in Istanbul. In the study, a mixed research design, which nests qualitative data into quantitative, was used. In addition to the scales and sociodemographic form, the Draw-a-Person test was also used to better understand children’s inner world. According to the findings, there is a significant relationship between gaming disorder and narcissism and happiness levels in children. Accordingly, as narcissism increases in children, the gaming disorder level increases, and happiness decreases. We also found a mediation effect in the impact of narcissism on happiness through gaming disorder. According to the results, we think that the problem is not caused by the individual but by society. For a solution, we recommend making more macro-level social work interventions within the framework of system theory instead of the current medical model in combating gaming disorder.

This study investigated the effects of structured instrument-playing on the improvement of subjective happiness and the reduction of depression of the elderly in residential care. The experimental group consisted of 10 elderly people from S residential care in city “J,” and the control group had 10 elderly people from C, S residential care in city “J.” Before implementing the structured instrument-playing, the subjects were pre-tested to obtain measures of their subjective happiness and depression levels. For the experimental group, the experimental procedure was carried out for a total of 14 sessions, 50 minutes each, during the period of February 13 to March 31, 2017. After these sessions, post-tests were conducted to both groups to track any changes in the participants’ subjective happiness and depression levels. Following is the summary of the major findings: First, structured instrument-playing appeared to have a positive effect on improving the subjective happiness of elderly people in residential care. Also, the data also showed that structured instrument-playing had a positive effect on the participants’ inner happiness, external happiness, and self-control happiness. Second, structured instrument-playing also had a positive effect on reducing depression of elderly people in residential care. By proving that this study works, the findings of this study suggest that structured instrument-playing program can be effective for improving the elderly residents’ subjective happiness and depression. Also, the study suggests that structured instrument-playing can be applied to improve the effectiveness of programs for not only the elderly in residential care but also to nursing home elderly, frail and dementia elderly.

In terms of the teaching profession, the term “teacher happiness” refers to a spiritual encounter one has while practising their profession. Teachers believe that they can fulfil their needs and recognise their worth through their work in education and teaching, which will ultimately lead to happiness. Happiness is a necessary condition for teachers to perform well in the classroom, a strong foundation for professional success, the inner motivation for teachers’ professional development, and the ultimate goal of education. In order to comprehend how the two affect one another, the purpose of this essay is to investigate the connection between political teachers’ career satisfaction and job performance. The findings indicated that three factors, namely, work commitment, human-machine facilitation, and task performance, can also be used to categorise political teachers’ career satisfaction. The overall rating of job performance and the elements affecting teachers’ occupational well-being are significantly correlated. The typical r -correlation coefficient was 0.65. Political educators will perform better at work on a daily basis as a result of their improved occupational well-being.

This article attempts to posit that modern people are alienated and so feel sad though they are equipped with modern means of comfort. This is ironical. In this connection, this article also attempts to define the concept of "a global village," discuss the psychological problems of alienation and loneliness, created ironically by globalization, and suggest some measures to cope with them from the perspective of the ancient wisdoms of the Hindu scriptural texts such as the Upanishad, the Bhagavad Gītā, the Pātanjali Yoga Sutras, and others. Unlimited, uncontrolled, and selfish desires are the main causes of modern alienation, triggered by the ideas of individualism, capitalism, consumerism, sexism, classicism, hedonism, and narcissism. Since the problems of alienation and loneliness are psychological ones, they can be best treated with the help of spiritual ideas propounded by ancient sages and seers. The permanent solution to these problems cannot be found outside in our external world. Their solutions can be found only inside our body, mind, and intellect with our inner journey to the Self ("Ātmā"). We can practice having vegetarian food, yoga, meditation, self-control over one's body and mind, mutual help, philanthropic activities, and non-violence by minimizing worldly desires, anger, and avarice to facilitate our journey to the Self. The less desires, the more happiness. This knowledge can inspire us avoid running after the temporary happiness attained by materialistic things. By being desireless and detached, we can remain still in the center of the inner Self inside our heart. This is the process of discovering permanent peace and happiness within ourselves to avoid the state of alienation.

The article, based on the example of the personal diary of a Soviet provincial woman of the mid-20th century, considers such important problems for cultural history and historical anthropology as genesis and dynamics of the ideas of contemporaries of a particular historical epoch about happiness, love and time. It is shown that in their interpretations presented in T. D. Rozhkova’s diary historically, culturally, socially and personally conditioned propositions peacefully coexisted. The ratio of the typically Soviet, typically feminine, typically intellectual and purely private is not amenable for rigorous assessment. Nevertheless, no matter how tricky the interweaving of the normative and the casual in T. D. Rozhkova’s notions of happiness, love and time was, in general, they certainly gravitated towards a universal understanding of happiness, love and time as the most important aspects of human life, firmly established in the sphere of individual and collective imagination. At the same time, despite the fact that the diarist’s main task was clearly not the task of objectively reflecting reality, her diary turned out to be filled with the zeitgeist. First of all, it is exposed by rhetorical models and narrative templates used by T. D. Rozhkova in her speculations on happiness, love and time — speculations that captured that an ordinary Soviet person lived a rich inner life, and his or her “Sovietness” was not something one-dimensional at all.

Despite the challenges of human existence, identifying the major features that sustain man’s striving to persist in life (conatus) is very essential in understanding who man is. This paper critically evaluates Aristotelian concept of happiness (eudaimonia) and its conative role in human existence as it ignites newness of interest in Aristotelian theory of happiness as the ultimate end of all human activities. Aristotle’s notion of happiness connotes conative experiences; actions that signify movements of some sorts for preservation of life. With regard to self-preservation in existence, Aristotle held the opinion that man has the natural inclination to actualize his potentialities through strong efforts of the will towards the right, and at the same time to create new potentialities to sustain his life. Through the activities of the soul (virtuous acts), man propels himself in a distinctive way towards objects of his desire for survival and flourishing. His concept of emotions as having the affective, cognitive as well as behavioural dimensions revealed that emotions have psychological values and vital functions which serve as survival instinct in man. However, they differ in their aims in that they have both attractive and aversive characteristics such that they move him either to seek or to avoid necessary objects that enhance or harm his existence, respectively. Considering the subjective experiences of pains and pleasures of emotions, they dispose man to virtuous actions towards excellence. However, to sustain man’s inner drive to persist in life, this paper objects to the theses that happiness can be restricted to only cognitive activities. Despite the weaknesses of his treatise concerning happiness in relation to man’s striving to persist, it was observed that Aristotle’s notion of happiness aids man’s striving in life. For further studies, it recommended clarification of ambiguous concepts and reconciliation of contradictions inherent in the theory.

The concept of 'peace' is defined and understood in various ways. Understanding peace as absence of violence is a limited vision. Peace encompasses happiness and harmony among living beings. In a wider understanding, peace is the nature and goal of every sentient being. Being peaceful is living in friendship with oneself and with every creature. Peace is indivisible but peril anywhere can be a threat to peace everywhere. Buddhism envisions peace as inner state of mental tranquility which spreads outward. Attaining a state of inner peace could be an inspiration to all. Buddha attained inner peace by the practice of meditation, which inspired him to work for world peace. In most of his teachings, Buddha has emphasized that the practice of vipassanā uproots mental defilements, which are, according to him, the causes of suffering and restlessness. Once a person overcomes suffering, he realizes inner peace. Inner peace projects itself outward, towards the family, friends and the larger society. This ensures peace and harmony in the outer world. Thus, world peace can be achieved through inner peace. This article presents the existing potential of this postulation based on Buddhist understanding. Buddha became a source of inspiration to all humanity as he attained peace of mind. This research talks about how mental defilements can be uprooted, how a person finds the peace of mind and how inner peace may lead towards world peace.

This study aims to analyze Ibn Miskawaih's thoughts on moral education. This research uses qualitative methods with a literature-based approach. Data collection was carried out by exploring Ibn Miskawaih's thoughts as contained in his works, the main data sources came from his work of tahzibul Akhlak, and the supporting data sources came from other works, and books and journals related to his thoughts. The results showed that according to Ibn Miskawaih, morals are mental states that invite someone to do actions without thinking and being taken into account. So that it can be used as human nature and the results of the actions that have been done, become self-righteousness that can give birth to good khuluq. Miskawaih was not only a philosopher but he was a moralist, writer, chemist, historian. So that the work that he produces is not only about one scientific aspect. According to Ibn Miskawayh, the goal of moral education is the realization of an inner attitude that is able to spontaneously encourage the birth of all righteous deeds to achieve perfection and obtain true and perfect happiness. The goal of moral education formulated by Ibn Miskawaih is the realization of an inner attitude that is able to spontaneously induce all actions of good value. So as to achieve perfection and obtain true happiness that is perfect and complete.

This study aims to describe the metaphor of love spoken by the main character in the novel Balada Cinta Maj Weaving by Geidurrahman El-Mishry using conceptual metaphors. The method used is descriptive analysis. The focus of the love metaphor is the expressions on the speech of the main character. Data collection uses documentation techniques with steps; read, mark, record, and categorize. Technical analysis uses content analysis that looks at the situation and condition of the speaker. The analysis shows that there are metaphorical expressions of love as an expression of the mental condition of the main character who is experiencing sadness, happiness, longing, and hope. Consequently sadness is the most dominant inner condition of hope, longing, and happiness. Conclusion, the whole phrase is used to convey the mental condition of the main character who is in love. Abstract Who is allowed to occupy which space in a multicultural society? Whose worlds and perspectives are represented in the fictional space? In this article we investigate the answers to these questions by means of a narratological analysis, informed by insights from postcolonial and cultural theory, of the novel Dertig dagen (2015) by Annelies Verbeke. While Saskia Pieterse (2014) suggests that in many recent novels ‘the Other’ is often a flat character and merely the embodiment of the theme of multiculturalism, in Dertig dagen a Senegalese-born Fleming is the main focalizing character. Starting from an analysis of the narratological position he occupies in the novel, we will focus on what the reader sees through his eyes. Our attention is drawn to the representation of different physical and imagined spaces that are not equally accessible to everyone as well as to the discrepancy between inner worlds and the outside world. This discrepancy exposes the connection between fear and various forms of violence, between multiculturalism and happiness. Using Sara Ahmed’s theoretical assumptions ‐ from The Politics of Emotions (2004) and The Promise of Happiness (2010) ‐ and Alan Corkhill's conceptualization of Spaces for Happiness (2012), we analyse the violent effect ‐ in terms of dissemination and internalization ‐ of dominant norms in different spaces.

The Journey within begins when people start contemplating about the real purpose of their existence. The contemplation of longing to know the real purpose of life starts in the process of sitting with mindfulness – meditation which transcends the survival purpose of life. It leads to spirituality, the ability to talk to oneself or the heart - the inner calling, leads humans towards the perception of Divine within oneself, treasure within oneself and happiness within oneself. R. K. Narayan’s The Guide and Robin Sharma’s The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari carve out spiritual traces where protagonists find pleasure and happiness. In The Guide, the transformation of Raju from a tourist guide to spiritual guide for the sake of humankind and his interconnectedness with the Divine owes much to the self-realization as well as to his heart. In the same way, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari transcends the material prosperity and reaches to the state of ecstasy as exemplified in spiritual preaching of the monk - Robin. Following the spirituality as theoretical tool, the article the central characters and explores their transformation towards spiritual awakening.

The purpose of the current research seeks to explore the influence of sustainable Human Resource Management (HRM) practices on customer satisfaction, service quality, and institutional performance in inner-city hotel businesses. The information was gathered by studying Cypriot inner-city hotels. A quantitative method was used to gather data from HRM managers, staff, and patrons at every inner-city hotel under study. The questionnaires were specifically employed by the researchers. Based on the findings of this study, human resource management techniques have a substantial effect on customer satisfaction. The most important relationship was discovered between customer satisfaction and institutional performance, which is an important result. This finding has tremendous importance since it is the first time that it has been demonstrated in a study pertaining to the inner-city hotel business. Customer satisfaction is influenced by both HRM and service quality practices. Ultimately, this research supports the close association between HRM practices and hotel performance. Both human resource management methods and service quality practices have shown their impact on client happiness. Lastly, the research provides evidence for the close relationship between hotel performance and HRM practices.
