Повний текст джерелаThe aim of our research is to propose a method to characterize the perception of a so-called sport-health hybrid product.Indeed, the user experience associated with a product has become, nowadays, a major differentiator among the competition and can greatly influence the success of a product. Users / consumers are no longer just looking for a functional product, but also a product that is easy to use and that gives them satisfaction throughout its use. This last aspect, user satisfaction, has become an important industrial issue. The aim is to provide the best possible user experience and thereby improve the chances of the product being successful. It depends in particular on how the product is perceived. However, in some cases, designing the way a product is viewed can be complex. This is particularly the case with hybrid products that combine characteristics from different product areas. The company SC-Ergomedical experienced this difficulty by noting that the hybrid sports-health products developed were not fully understood. Indeed, they were perceived either as sports products or as health products, but never together. It is clear that this makes them less accepted by users / consumers. This perception gap results both from the dialogical nature of the product universes of sport and health and that the perception of such products depends on their contexts of contrary uses but also on a missing semantics reflecting the identity of the sport-health hybrid product. In order to reduce this perception gap and improve the understanding of hybrid sport-health products, we propose in this thesis a methodology based on the Affective Engineering approach. The results observed then make it possible to build a design space to characterize the perception of a sport-health product. Indeed, the first two experiments carried out made it possible to define a sport-health semantics as well as the influence of contexts of contrary use which conditions the perception of these products. The third allowed us to characterize the attribute space of sport-health products and link it to the predefined semantic space. All three experiments led us to the creation of the design space characterizing the perception of a sport-health product. This design space provides a guide for designers to develop hybrid sport-health products and reduce the perceived gap. Indeed, via this space, it is then possible to recommend attributes produced from a sport-health semantics in a context of use of sport and / or health, to evaluate the sport-health values of a solution or a final product or to explore combinations of sport-health product attributes and visualize the resulting values. These different possibilities can be used in a design assistance tool for hybrid products like the one we propose in this manuscript specific to the design of hybrid sport-health products

Повний текст джерелаThe development of complex products in a concurrent engineering approach implies the decompsition of the products in subsets then their integration and the coordination of the teams responsible for the subsests. However, many imperfections in the coordination of these teams come out during the advanced phases of development onto tecnical problems called interfaces problems, penalizing in term of cost and times. We could define the origin of the coordination problems and we noted the current lack of approach to contribute to the management of the interfaces. It then appeared significant to be interested in the analysis of the information requirements, the transactions and the communication necessary so that the teams can make the good decisions. .

Повний текст джерелаCurrently, software process artefacts are under-considered by the software process modelling and execution community. They are minimally managed. Moreover, the application of the principles of the model driven engineering on software processes have deeply changed the nature and increased the complexity of software artefacts : they become models (model-products hereafter). Taking into account such a complexity is a necessity with a view to optimize model-products management policies. This thesis has focused on the issue of the specification of the relationships between model-products by analysing the importance of the use of those relationships in model-products evolution management during process execution. We therefore have illustrated that using the respective specifications of relationships during process execution optimizes the management of model-products evolution in term of their consistency, their synchronization, and a flexibility in their granularity. Our solution fits in two major points that respectively relate to process modelling and enactment. According to process modelling, we have proposed a meta-model that captures the concepts to use to specify the model-products and the relationships between them. The meta-model takes also into account the details on these relationships as they are useful for an enhancement of used model-products management policies during the execution of the modelled processes. Our approach currently supports the nest and the overlap relationships. According to the process execution point of view, in order to structure the logical entities through which are managed the model-products of a process, we have proposed another meta-model. Such a meta-model therefore specifies process objects that represent model-products and their relationships during process execution. This meta-model also supports the nest and the overlap relationships, in compliance with the first one. The proposition also comprises transformation rules used to map concepts of the two meta-models and therefore to give the possibility of an automatic use of the modelling concepts through the enactment ones. The contributions of the approach are related to model-products management during process enactment. They essentially consist of a systematic synchronization and relational consistency between model-products, their aided creation, a flexibility in the granularity of their use, and their semantic integrity. We finally have prototyped a process modelling and enactment environment that implements our approach

Повний текст джерелаIn Virtual Enterprise and Concurrent Engineering environments, a wide variety of information is used. A crucial issue is the data communication and exchange between heterogeneous systems and distant sites. To solve this problem, the STEP project was introduced. The STandard for the Exchange of Product model data STEP is an evolving international standard for the representation and exchange of product data. The objective of STEP is to provide the unambiguous computer-interpretable representation of product data in all phases of the product’s lifecycle. In a collaborative product development different types of experts in different disciplines are concerned by the product (Design, Manufacturing, Marketing, Customers,. . . ). Each of these experts has his own viewpoint about the same product. STEP Models are unable to represent the expert’s viewpoints. The objective of our research work is to propose a methodology for representation and integration of different expert’s viewpoints in design and manufacturing phases. An Information Infrastructure for modelling, exchanging and sharing product data models is also proposed

Повний текст джерелаGlobalization of markets, rapid growth of emerging countries, challenges of a sustainable design and needs of low-income populations trigger companies to look for new forms of organization and innovation. The Base of the Pyramid (BoP) theory takes root on these challenges and suggests fighting against poverty while generating economic growth. Although recent, the literature on this topic is diverse and today falls mainly in management and economic sciences. The contributions in the field of engineering design are quite few, and many questions remain on the feasibility and operability of such an approach. The goal of this research is to understand how the dynamics of the BoP-oriented innovation may require rethinking current design practices. We will particularly explore frugal engineering, a design process that enrolls economy of use and expense, as a means to design products and services within the dual challenge of fighting against poverty and economic growth. Our contributions take place in two areas. The first one is based on a review of 215 BoP case-studies related in the literature: the outcome is a categorization of the BoP-called strategies. This categorization allows a multilevel reading that generates significant findings: the difficulty of combining social and economic impacts within the same approach, the dichotomy between market and inclusive strategies, as well as the existence of multiple BoP contexts which reflects a tension between needs' satisfaction (local impact) and economy of scale (global impact). The second area of contribution is about frugal design, taken as one possible BoP-oriented approach. We define frugal engineering as the search for a just-enough between a core value and a low-cost proposition. Our proposition of new concepts, such as the “Non Trade Off” during the design process and the “Adaptability” of the product, leads us to question the uniqueness of this just-enough. The core value is not an absolute concept; rather it comes in multiple values (re)defined during design, manufacturing and use phases of the product life cycle. This appropriation is made by focusing on key features of the product, in order to meet the environment, resource and infrastructure constrained, to reduce production and assembly costs, and to meet an essential need. Therefore, frugal design is incorporated in an inclusive logic, in which each stakeholder of the value chain contributes to redefine the just-enough of the product (and process). These results, obtained by empirical studies in India and Vietnam, emphasize the importance of contextual elements to take into account during frugal design. We propose the Scenes as a new tool for representing these elements. The Scenes complement the existing user-centered design tools, and help to contextualize the discussion on the core values of a frugal product. To conclude, the premises of an open frugal design emerge from this research. Such a model would leave more flexibility to the BoP users to appropriate themselves the product and define their essential values. Thus, designing open and adaptable products is a way to nourish a better sustainable development

Повний текст джерелаThe use of domain-specific languages (DSLs) has become a successful technique in the development of complex systems because it furnishes benefits such as abstraction, separation of concerns, and improvement of productivity. Nowadays, we can find a large variety of DSLs providing support in various domains. However, the construction of these languages is an expensive task. Language designers are intended to invest an important amount of time and effort in the definition of formal specifications and tooling for the DSLs that tackle the requirements of their companies. The construction of DSLs becomes even more challenging in multi-domain companies that provide several products. In this context, DSLs should be often adapted to diverse application scenarios, so language development projects address the construction of several variants of the same DSL. At this point, language designers face the challenge of building all the required variants by reusing, as much as possible, the commonalities existing among them. The objective is to leverage previous engineering efforts to minimize implementation from scratch. As an alternative to deal with such a challenge, recent research in software language engineering has proposed the use of product line engineering techniques to facilitate the construction of DSL variants. This led the notion of language product lines i.e., software product lines where the products are languages. Similarly to software product lines, language product lines can be built through two different approaches: top-down and bottom-up. In the top-down approach, a language product line is designed and implemented through a domain analysis process. In the bottom-up approach, the language product line is built up from a set of existing DSL variants through reverse-engineering techniques. In this thesis, we provide support for the construction of language product lines according to the two approaches mentioned before. On one hand, we propose facilities in terms of language modularization and variability management to support the top-down approach. Those facilities are accompanied with methodological insights intended to guide the domain analysis process. On the other hand, we introduce a reverse-engineering technique to support the bottom-up approach. This technique includes a mechanism to automatically recover a language modular design for the language product line as we as a strategy to synthesize a variability model that can be later used to configure concrete DSL variants. The ideas presented in this thesis are implemented in a well-engineered language workbench. This implementation facilitates the validation of our contributions in three case studies. The first case study is dedicated to validate our languages modularization approach that, as we will explain later in this document, is the backbone of any approach supporting language product lines. The second and third case studies are intended to validate our contributions on top-down and bottom-up language product lines respectively

Повний текст джерелаPLM systems are among the strategic components of enterprise’s information system architecture. These systems undergo frequent evolutions of enterprise. Organizational evolution or product offer variation as well as PLM application replacement may launch PLM systems’ evolution. One of the important structures in PLM systems is the product configuration, which organize and structure all product’s information and processes. Our research activities concern product model evolution. Reasons of product model evolution specify the appropriate methodology and necessary steps in order to handle it. MDE methods are used to formalize the model transformation process. Moreover, our methodology contains a specific similarity framework dedicated to product configuration. An industrial example was illustrated and resolved by this methodology. The problematic of this example is the migration of a system which manage only specific product configuration to a new system that is capable to construct and use generic models of product

Повний текст джерелаIt is broadly accepted that 70 % of the total life cycle cost is committed during the specification phase. However, nowadays, we observe a staggering increase in the number of requirements. We consider the tremendous volume of requirements as big data with which sub-contractors struggle to make strategic decisions early on. Thus, we propose to methodologically integrate data science techniques into a collaborative requirement mining framework, which enables decision-makers to gain insight and discover opportunities in a massive set of requirements. Initially, classification models extract requirements from prescriptive documents. Requirements are subsequently analysed with natural language processing techniques so as to identify quality defects. After having removed the quality defects, the analyst can navigate through clusters of requirements that ease the exploration of big data. Each cluster gathers the requirements that belong to a functional area (mechanics, electronics, IT, etc.). Each domain expert can therefore easily filter out the requirements subset that is relevant for him. A complementary approach consists in detecting communities of requirements by analysing the topology of a graph. Each community owns a customisable set of decision-making criteria which are estimated by all functional areas. A dashboard of statistical visuals distils the estimation results from which a decision maker can make informed decisions. We conclude that the theoretical and empirical validation of our proposition corroborates the assumption that data science is an effective way to gain insight from hundreds or thousands of requirements

Повний текст джерелаThe idea of Software Product Line (SPL) approach is to manage a family of similar software products in a reuse-based way. Reuse avoids repetitions, which helps reduce development/maintenance effort, shorten time-to-market and improve overall quality of software. To migrate from existing software product variants into SPL, one has to understand how they are similar and how they differ one from another. Companies often develop a set of software variants that share some features and differ in other ones to meet specific requirements. To exploit existing software variants and build a software product line, a feature model must be built as a first step. To do so, it is necessary to extract mandatory and optional features in addition to associate each feature with its name. Then, it is important to organize the mined and documented features into a feature model. In this context, our thesis proposes three contributions. Thus, we propose, in this dissertation as a first contribution a new approach to mine features from the object-oriented source code of a set of software variants based on Formal Concept Analysis, code dependency and Latent Semantic Indexing. The novelty of our approach is that it exploits commonality and variability across software variants, at source code level, to run Information Retrieval methods in an efficient way. The second contribution consists in documenting the mined feature implementations based on Formal Concept Analysis, Latent Semantic Indexing and Relational Concept Analysis. We propose a complementary approach, which aims to document the mined feature implementations by giving names and descriptions, based on the feature implementations and use-case diagrams of software variants. The novelty of our approach is that it exploits commonality and variability across software variants, at feature implementations and use-cases levels, to run Information Retrieval methods in an efficient way. In the third contribution, we propose an automatic approach to organize the mined documented features into a feature model. Features are organized in a tree which highlights mandatory features, optional features and feature groups (and, or, xor groups). The feature model is completed with requirement and mutual exclusion constraints. We rely on Formal Concept Analysis and software configurations to mine a unique and consistent feature model. To validate our approach, we applied it on three case studies: ArgoUML-SPL, Health complaint-SPL, Mobile media software product variants. The results of this evaluation validate the relevance and the performance of our proposal as most of the features and its constraints were correctly identified

The first part relates to the use of Monte Carlo and Quasi-Monte Carlo simulations in order to price derivatives. It insists more particularly on the choice and the implementation of uniform generators, on the techniques employed to simulate Gaussian variables and on the variance reduction procedures that can be applied to improve the convergence rate of the estimators. The second part relates to the modelling of the market parameters, which influence the stock price dynamic. The first two chapters deal successively with the zero curve construction and the implied volatility surface fitting under the no-arbitrage assumption. The third chapter resolves the European option-pricing problem in the presence of discrete cash dividends

Повний текст джерелаSoftware product line engineering is an approach that supports developing products in family. These products are described by common and variable features. Currently, the validation activity is disjointed from the product lines development process. The effort and resources provided in the test campaigns for each product can be optimized in the context of product lines. Model-based testing is a technique for automatically generating a suite of test cases from requirements. In this thesis report, we present an approach to test a software product line with model-based testing. This technique is based on an algorithm that establishes the relationship between the variability model released with OVM and the test model, using traceability of functional requirements present in both formalisms. Our contribution is an algorithm that automatically extracts a product test model. It is illustrated with a real industrial case of automotive dashboards and experimented by an industrial of aeronautic domain in the MBAT European project context

Повний текст джерелаCompetition requires companies' constraints in product quality terms. They are subject to more stringent requirements. Thus, for these modern companies, success means producing the best product at the lowest price, just in time. The INCOSE (International Consortium of System Engineering) has issued the slogan "faster, Better, and Cheaper. " In this context, the joint management of products and production processes has become a necessity. The product development must take into account the customers need in a very short time depending on the market. Thus our work falls within the engineering system process integration context within the manufacturing industry and mainly the product life cycle management, known as the PLM. The work was focused on three axes. The first axis focused on concepts application and system engineering standards for manufacturing and especially on the EIA 632 process widely used in the aeronautics and space. The second axis focused on the possibility of linking the end product and enabling products process. The work is focused on the PLM concept as a technique to ensure that appropriate link. The third axis, which is an extension of the previous two, aims to develop the management process of changing requirements and their impacts on the production system and other enabling products (maintenance, disposal, etc. ). . The approach that considers all three axes is illustrated with case study. This work has enabled the concepts applicability and systems engineering standards to manufacturing and offers a generic framework for extensions. Some of these extensions were treated at the level of requirements change integration in the PLM

Повний текст джерелаIn the overall context of transition towards the digital era and ubiquitous connectivity, our research focuses on providing guidelines to support companies in the evolution of their development in association with the joint evolution of their products towards multidisciplinary products. This evolution is considered through the modification of the "concepts and techniques" (a formulation that encompasses the approaches, processes, methods and tools) which can be organized to constitute what has been termed in this work a "development structure", conceptualized by a four-level model. The guidelines' proposal includes two facets. The first one, named "scientific literature", establishes the cartographies of the development of mechatronic products, cyber-physical systems and smart products, before synthesizing them into a multidisciplinary product development cartography. The second one, named "industrial practices", documents the way in which 10 companies organize their multidisciplinary product developments. On the strength of the analysis of the gaps in between these two facets, guidelines are proposed for the elaboration of a company-specific development structure. The elaboration of the proposed development structure is based on the association between the challenges related to the development of multidisciplinary products encountered by the company and the concepts and techniques depicted in the scientific literature cartographies. These guidelines were applied at an agricultural equipment manufacturer to support its evolution towards multidisciplinary products

Повний текст джерелаSystems Engineering is a complex and expensive activity in several kinds of companies, it imposes stakeholders to deal with massive pieces of software and their integration with several hardware components. To ease the development of such systems, engineers adopt a divide and conquer approach : each concern of the system is engineered separately, with several domain specific languages (DSL) and stakeholders. The current practice for making DSLs is to rely on the Model-driven Engineering (MDE. On the other hand, systems engineering companies also need to construct slightly different versions/variants of a same system; these variants share commonalities and variabilities that can be managed using a Software Product Line (SPL) approach. A promising approach is to ally MDE with SPL – Model-based SPLs (MSPL) – in a way that the products of the SPL are expressed as models conforming to a metamodel and well-formedness rules. The Common Variability Language (CVL) has recently emerged as an effort to standardize and promote MSPLs. Engineering an MSPL is extremely complex to an engineer: the number of possible products is exponential; the derived product models have to conform to numerous well- formedness and business rules; and the realization model that connects a variability model and a set of design models can be very expressive specially in the case of CVL. Managing variability models and design models is a non-trivial activity. Connecting both parts and therefore managing all the models is a daunting and error-prone task. Added to these challenges, we have the multiple different modeling languages of systems engineering. Each time a new modeling language is used for developing an MSPL, the realization layer should be revised accordingly. The objective of this thesis is to assist the engineering of MSPLs in the systems engineering field, considering the need to support it as earlier as possible and without compromising the existing development process. To achieve this, we provide a systematic and automated process, based on CVL, to randomly search the space of MSPLs for a given language, generating counterexamples that can server as antipatterns. We then provide ways to specialize CVL’s realization layer (and derivation engine) based on the knowledge acquired from the counterexamples. We validate our approach with four modeling languages, being one acquired from industry; the approach generates counterexamples efficiently, and we could make initial progress to increase the safety of the MSPL mechanisms for those languages, by implementing antipattern detection rules. Besides, we also analyse big Java programs, assessing the adequacy of CVL to deal with complex languages; it is also a first step to assess qualitatively the counterexamples. Finally, we provide a methodology to define the processes and roles to leverage MSPL engineering in an organization

Повний текст джерелаBone tissue engineering with stem cell is an appealing and promising approach to overcome the drawbacks of autografts whose boundaries are well identified for treatment of massive bone defects. However, results remain inconsistent. The aims of this work were to (I) evaluate a bone tissue engineering product based on a natural resorbable scaffold and mesenchymal stem cell in both ectopic and orthotopic, large and small animal models specifically in a new preclinical, segmental critical size bone defect in mice and (II) assess advantages and disadvantages of these different animal models. The results of the present work demonstrated that the association of a natural, resorbable, coral scaffold and with mesenchymal stem cells, could, in optimal conditions, allows to envision bone regeneration despit an early and massive cells death after implantation. These data outlined that the prime effect of cells, in such condition, is more their trophic role than their intrinsic osteogenic one. As part of the refinement of animal models, ectopic models are appropriate models for testing different biomaterials and survival of cells seeded on them. Повний текст джерелаSoftware families often rise from reuse practices as cloning existing software products which are then enhanced or pruned to fulfill new requirements. With time, these variants grow in number and in complexity, and become more and more complex to maintain. Software product line engineering gathers a set of methods that aims at facilitating the management and development of such collections of existing variants. Documenting variability is the central point of this paradigm; This variability is represented in variability models that support a large part of software product line engineering processes. The partial or complete migration from software families to a product line approach eases their exploitation.Reverse-engineering, modeling and managing variability are known as crucial tasks of the migration: therefore, numerous methods have been proposed to study descriptions of software families for this goal. Some of them are based on formal concept analysis, a mathematical framework for hierarchical clustering which organises set of objects and their descriptions in canonical structures highlighting naturally their commonalities and variability. In this thesis, we defend that formal concept analysis, more than a tool, is a relevant structural, reusable and extensible framework to study variability of software families.First, we propose an overview of variability information which is highlighted thanks to this framework, and we discuss its scope of applicability. We study the common points between the conceptual structures of formal concept analysis and variability models. Then, we show how to use these conceptual structures to support research and modeling operations. Finally, we broaden the scope of this study to take into account more complex information about extended variability. We evaluate our method on data taken from the SPLOT repository, fork-insight and product comparison matrices from wikipedia

Повний текст джерелаDesign of branded products involves consideration of both perceptual aspects of the product appearance (related to consumers’ evaluation and emotions and the brand values) as well as the technical and engineering aspects including manufacturing feasibility, performances, and cost. Within a multidisciplinary design context, product designers and engineering designers need to collaborate and communicate together to achieve a satisfactory product that is emotionally appealing to the consumers and is technically performing the intended functions, and is feasible to manufacture. However, such collaboration between product designers and engineering designers is difficult due to their different knowledge background, work approaches and responsibilities during the design process. This research deals with the questions of how to support the communication between product designers and engineering designers and how to support the integration of the engineering viewpoint earlier in the design process of branded product. Proposition and evaluation of three potential approaches to support communication between product designers and engineering designers is investigated in this research. Likewise an integration approach is proposed following the three steps of modeling, transforming and integrating the engineering knowledge to design knowledge. The results of this research contribute to the SKIPPI project, in the development of a software to support idea generation and the decision-making in the upstream design phase

Повний текст джерелаOver the last twenty years, the deep changes noticed in the field of product development, led to methodological change in the field of design. These changes have, in fact, benefited from the significant development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) (such as PLM systems dedicated to the product lifecycle management), and from collaborative engineering approaches, playing key role in the improvement of product development process (PDP). In the current PLM market, PLM solutions from different vendors still present strong heterogeneities, and remain on proprietary technologies and formats for competitiveness and profitability reasons, what does not ease communication and sharing between various ICTs contributing to the PDP. Our research work focuses on PDP, and aims to contribute to the improvement of the integrated management of mechanical design and numerical simulation data in a PLM context. The research contribution proposes an engineering knowledge capitalization solution based on a product semantic relationship management approach, organized as follows : (1) a data structuring approach driven by so called semi-structured entities with a structure able to evolve along the PDP, (2) a conceptual model describing the fundamental concepts of the proposed approach, (3) a methodology that facilitates and improves the management and reuse of engineering knowledge within design project, and (4) a knowledge capitalization approach based on the management of semantic relationships that exist or may exist between engineering entities within the product development process

Повний текст джерелаDue to an increasing world pressure on natural resources, the evolution of professional practices of engineering designers towards more environmental friendliness becomes compulsory. Today it is necessary to provide engineering designers with a high-quality eco-design education. Our approach is to characterize eco-design best practices in order to build a bridge between the design and the eco-design of products and services. Within this perspective, a framework including six dimensions and associated levels, which characterize the core themes of the eco-design activity is proposed. Our main enquiry consists in three redesign experiments. The experimental work is conducted with various existing eco-design tools to highlight several eco-design dimensions: the eco-design process and its typical steps, the integration of stakeholders and the systemic level of the process. Thanks to the observation of novice and expert eco-designers, it is possible to formalize a set of eco-design competences. Those are displayed against the proposed framework, and validated by a national sample of persons in charge of eco-design curricula. Eco-design practices are eventually put back in the context of design to show their complementary character

Повний текст джерелаSoftware product lines aim at reusing documents, source code, architectures, and, all artefact created during software development achieved in a given domain. Nowadays, we use ``feature models'' to facilitate the reuse of such elements. The approach consists in describing, in this feature model, artefacts and their usage constraints, and then to identify representative features for creating a new product. In some situations, a feature represents an artefact associated to a context element that must be handled by the product. Such a feature, and its related constraints, can be cloned for each occurrence of instances of this element in a given context. In this thesis, we are try to determine the impact of a product execution context on a future product features. We first explore different ways for representing feature models and a product context. Then, we propose a generic method to adapt a feature model to context elements. This thesis has been achieved in the context of the RIDER project (Research for IT Driven EneRgy efficiency). This project aims at reducing energy waste due to an inappropriate management of energy sources and needs. The heterogeneousness of building equipments and each building specificities require to adapt energy optimisation software. We propose to apply a software product line approach to this project. More precisely, we propose to apply to this project our feature model context adaptation methodology, in order to adapt energy optimisation software to each building specific context

Повний текст джерелаLipstick is a must-have product of the cosmetics market. It is made from a complex formulation and it has multiple functionalities, among which the sensoriality is central and depends mainly on fats and oils used. Given the multiplicity of available ingredients, formulation practices are largely based on the formulators’ empirical expertise. In this industrial context, this thesis aims at setting up a reasoned formulation methodology driven by the sensory functionality. Implementing such a sensory engineering approach requires integrating knowledge of the relationships between formulation, structure and product functionalities. In order to do this, we proposed a seven-step approach, based on the realization of a simplified and realistic formula. This system allowed to structure a deductive reasoning approach concerning the role of different categories of ingredients in the sensory properties of the product. Thanks to this approach, we have shown that oils and waxes have a major role in these properties. The oils mainly affect the slipperiness, the melting quality, the oiliness, the softness, the stickiness and the presence on the lips. Waxes, on the other hand, have an influence on the opacity and the amount of lipstick deposited. This work is based on a thorough understanding of the physicochemical mechanisms at the origin of the structure of lipsticks, observed at different scales, and of the resulting properties. Finally, we validated this approach, as well as the relationships between the properties of the ingredients, the structure and the mechanical and sensory properties of lipsticks, on two concrete cases of reverse engineering

Повний текст джерелаEngineering Change Management, also known as Change Engineering, is the research domain that focuses on the study of changes and modifications brought by industrial designers on a product during one of the phases of its life cycle. These changes can exist in the case of product renewal for improvement or re-design. In the literature, several methods and tools have proposed to assess the change impact using the existing dependencies between the product components, predict effectively the change propagation and then evaluate its possible consequences. However, none of them attempted to characterize the dependency relationship in the form of a polynomial function in addition to the qualitative and quantitative values. Therefore, we propose, a new method to generate change variations, in order to model these variations in pairs with an analytical formula, expand the variations in pairs to changes in several variables and formally check the consistency of the results obtained. Visually, a dependency graph is constructed where nodes represent the components of product and edges are the functions that connect them. Our results show that this functional characterization of dependency allows an effective assessment of change propagation. A bike with 2-D geometric model is used to illustrate the proposed approach

Повний текст джерелаThe research work contributes to improve the quality of data exchanged between the production and the engineering units which dedicated to product design and production system design. This improvement is qualified by studying the interactions between the product life cycle management and the production management. These two concepts are supported, wholly or partly by industrial information systems, the study of the interactions then lead to the integration of information systems (PLM, ERP and MES).In a highly competitive environment and globalization, companies are forced to innovate and reduce costs, especially the production costs. Facing with these challenges, the volume and frequency change of production data are increasing due to the steady reduction of the lifetime and the products marketing, the increasing of product customization and the generalization of continuous improvement in production. Consequently, the need to formalize and manage all production data is required. These data should be provided to the production operators and machines. After analysis the data quality for each existing architecture demonstrating the inability to address this problem, an architecture, based on the integration of three information systems involved in the production (PLM, ERP and MES) has been proposed. This architecture leads to two complementary sub-problems. The first one is the development of an architecture based on Web services to improve the accessibility, safety and completeness of data exchanged. The second is the integration architecture of integration based on ontologies to offer the integration mechanisms based on the semantics in order to ensure the correct interpretation of the data exchanged. Therefore, the model of the software tool supports the proposed solution and ensures that integration of data exchanged between engineering and production was carried out

Повний текст джерелаThe aim of this research introduces general concepts for performance assessment of virtual reality environments which are relevant to the design activity of manufactured products. Moreover, it aims to present also the context of the research respect to the Thai automotive industry, because this thesis expect to build new knowledge for the benefit of Thailand economy. This research covers several contexts of Human-Computer Interaction research as well as evolution of the VR assessment in the industrial and educational sector. The state of the art with direct relevance for the current research includes: user interface, human factor issues but also usability assessment but the wish here is to go a step further towards utility assessment. This research focuses on abstract level assessment criteria including: affordance, ergonomics, intuitiveness, tangibility, and tiredness assessments. We propose and analyse an assessment method of virtual reality for given activities. We are specifically concerned by activities involved at design stage or at manufacturing preparation stage and we have a deep focus on assembly activity and motion simulation. The design of a virtual reality environment and the implementation of a computer application that supports the evaluation of these activities are presented. The main objective of such application remains the assessment of the performance of virtual reality environments to support the tasks of designers and engineers. This research consists of two main activities: The first experience to validate the evaluation and comparison of the performance of the VRES by the use of low basic sensors consisting of docking quality, task duration, and gesture instability sensor. The experimental task is a set of simple screw assemblies allowing the analysis of the basic movements such as translation, rotation, orientation, and insertion into the holes. We have implemented the experiment on four environments and invited 40 participants to our experiment protocol. The second experience was thus organized around a barrel cam mechanism simulation which is operated with a single rotation motion but which provides a complex cam 3D trajectory. Even design experts may have some difficulties to anticipate the behaviour of this system. They usually experience difficulties when tuning design parameters to ensure that the mechanism is working well. It is thus investigated virtual reality capacity to overpass these difficulties. If this capacity is demonstrated, it is also expected to evaluate and compare the performance of the virtual reality environment system by the use of high level abstract assessment technique combined with low level sensors. Thirty participants have been involved in an experience where both basic sensors and high level assessment criteria were captured. Four virtual reality environments including either stereoscopy or haptic force-feedback device were compared respect to a given task

Повний текст джерелаThe oil and gas industry is facing increased market uncertainty, more demanding clients and a harsher competition. Clients are seeking increasingly precise exploration data while digging deeper for reservoirs. In this context, oil and gas industry service providers need to develop more complex and innovative exploration tools. Consequently, equipment producers (design and manufacturing) can no longer rely on internal capabilities and need to integrate outsourcing into their product development process. The 80’s and 90’s witnessed a large-scale trend of outsourcing in support services and manufacturing from equipment producers. Nowadays these firms are looking to involve suppliers earlier by introducing outsourcing as early as product design. They are seeking design outsourcing to gain access to new technological knowledge outside the firm boundaries, maneuverability in new product development and to manage cyclical work load. At the same time they want to prevent exposure to risks of knowledge leakage and dependency on suppliers while maintaining a competitive advantage. In our research project, we propose a global model for design outsourcing that would allow a firm to address both strategic and operational issues related to outsourcing. This model enables the firm to create value from design outsourcing while easily integrating it to its operational processes. First, we audited a major equipment producer in the oil and gas industry in order to understand outsourcing practices. We also performed an extensive literature review about outsourcing. Accordingly, we developed a general process that addresses design outsourcing at several levels of a firm. We identified a strategic level where long term issues are tackled and an operational level where project specific issues are tackled. These levels are integrated through an information system layer that facilitates communication across different levels of the firm and between the firm and the supplier. Since the make or buy decision is integral to outsourcing, we gave it special attention; we identified a generic list of attributes that constitute a first checklist for decision makers when addressing the make or buy decision. Using a multi-criteria decision aid methodology we also developed a MACBETH-based decision aid model to support the decision making process. Close collaboration with field engineers and managers at the industrial firm gave us first hand validation of our proposals

A Software Product Line (SPL) manages commonalities and variability of a related software products family. This approach is characterized by a systematic reuse that reduces development cost and time to market and increases software quality. However, building an SPL requires an initial expensive investment. Therefore, organizations that are not able to deal with such an up-front investment, tend to develop a family of software products using simple and intuitive practices. Clone-and-own (C&O) is an approach adopted widely by software developers to construct new product variants from existing ones. However, the efficiency of this practice degrades proportionally to the growth of the family of products in concern, that becomes difficult to manage. In this dissertation, we propose a hybrid approach that utilizes both SPL and C&O to develop and evolve a family of software products. An automatic mechanism of identification of the correspondences between the features of the products and the software artifacts, allows the migration of the product variants developed in C&O in an SPL The originality of this work is then to help the derivation of new products by proposing different scenarios of C&O operations to be performed to derive a new product from the required features. The developer can then reduce these possibilities by expressing her preferences (e.g. products, artifacts) and using the proposed cost estimations on the operations. We realized our approach by developing SUCCEED, a framework for SUpporting Clone-and-own with Cost-EstimatEd Derivation. We validate our works on a case study of families of web portals
