Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop a research model examining users’ perceived needs-technology fit of mobile communication software through motivational needs and technological characteristics. The study investigated the effects of perceived needs-technology fit on user satisfaction and intention to continue using mobile communication software. Design/methodology/approach This study proposes a research model based on task-technology fit theory and uses and gratification theory, incorporating key determinants of users’ continuance intention toward mobile communication software. An online survey instrument was developed to collect data, and 403 questionnaires were used to test the relationships in the proposed model. Findings The causal model was validated using AMOS 21.0, and all nine study hypotheses were supported. The results indicated that users’ perceived needs-technology fit and satisfaction were crucial antecedents of their intention to continue using mobile communication software and that they mediated the influence of users’ needs as well as technological characteristics. Practical implications Mobile communication software practitioners should focus on enhancing users’ perceived needs-technology fit through motivational needs (utilitarian, hedonic, and social needs) and technological characteristics (mobile convenience, service compatibility, and user control) to further boost user satisfaction and intention to continue using mobile communication software services. Originality/value This study contributes to a theoretical understanding of factors explaining users’ continuance intention toward mobile communication software.

This article is devoted to the analysis of information behavior based on the use of a natural language to obtain information by reading a literary text in a non-native language. One of the options for the result of such behavior is the so-called communication failures, which indicate obstacles in information retrieval. By communicative failures, the authors of the article mean a failure in the communication process, when the produced speech act does not fulfill its intended function, the addressee gets a greater degree of freedom to interpret the message sent to him, and his reaction may either not coincide with the one that was planned by the sender, or contradict it. In this case, culture acts as a regulator of information behavior as a set of values circulating in a social community. The mechanisms of the influence of culture on the mentioned behavior are stereotypes that exert a typifying influence on the activity of an individual. An attempt was made in the article to analyze the nature of the detected communication failures, as well as their typological description.

We can read words at an amazing speed, with the left hemisphere taking the burden of the processing in most readers (i.e., over 95% of right-handers and about 75% of left-handers). Yet, it is a long-standing question whether word reading in central vision is possible without information transfer between the left and right hemispheres (LH/RH). Here we show that such communication is required by comparing word naming latencies and eye movement data of people with LH language dominance and a unique sample of healthy RH dominant people. The results reveal that individuals with LH speech dominance name words faster when they are allowed to fixate at the word beginning, whereas RH dominants are faster for fixations toward the end. In text reading, the eyes of LH dominants land more to the left than the eyes of RH dominants, making more information directly available to the dominant hemisphere. We conclude that the traditional view of bilateral projections in central vision is incorrect. In contrast, interhemispheric communication is needed in central vision, and eye movements are adjusted to optimize information uptake. Our findings therefore call into question the explanation of macular sparing in hemianopia based on a bilaterally projecting fovea. In addition, these results are in line with the increase of white matter in the splenium of the corpus callosum when people learn to read.

Injection drug users (IDUs) are the second largest group of people with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in the United States (CDC, 1994, June). Social marketing campaigns currently utilize both empirical-rational and normative re-educative strategies. Empirical-rational strategies suggest that people follow their rational self-interest. Normative re-educative strategies suggest that people change their individual behavior when they believe that there has been change in the norms, values, and habits around them. Both of these strategies make assumptions concerning the use of communication sources to change beliefs and behavior. Utilizing an empirical-rational strategy would suggest emphasis on mass communications (e.g., television, radio, newspaper); while normative re-educative strategies make use of personal communications (e.g., outreach workers, role play, and group discussion). The purpose of this paper is to compare these strategies by examining the impact of AIDS communication sources on the beliefs and behaviors of IDU's prior to and during drug use and sexual activity.

This study sought to identify what messages are important to share regarding innovations of new turfgrass cultivars, and to determine the current, preferred, and emerging channels of communication as perceived by Extension/Outreach and Communications professionals in ANR for sending information. This study utilized a focus group consisting of turfgrass extension professionals, an interview with communication professionals, and individual semi-structured interviews. From the twelve questions presented through these methods, seven predominant themes emerged. Effectively communicating about turfgrass involves: (1) conveying long-term benefits of the innovations, (2) considering the sender and receiver of turfgrass information, (3) considering the traditional communication channels used for turfgrass, (4) emerging or sought channels for communicating with clientele about turfgrass, (5) barriers to adopting communication channels for disseminating turfgrass information, (6) factors that influence use of communication channels for turfgrass, and (7) who should be disseminating the identified messages. Respondents indicated that though Twitter was the preferred channel of social media communication for those in the turfgrass industry, interpersonal communication and factsheets were still being requested predominately by their clientele. Respondents recommended working with organizations such as city and county municipalities, as well as residential home builder groups, that are likely to adopt innovations, influence behavior change, and create and institute policies, will be essential for dissemination of information. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions associated with it, researchers are depending on emerging communications channels for dissemination of information more so than traditional methods utilized in the past such as field days

Community integration for newcomers was more strongly related to general information seeking than to specific use of newspapers. Four hundred newcomers in Seattle were polled by phone. When newcomers arrive in a community, they need to fill many information gaps, and this study found that newspapers (which made no special effort to reach newcomers in the city studied) did not fill them especially well. People who were reluctant to leave their old community were most interested in becoming integrated into the new one, in terms of gaining information.

This paper suggests that satisfactory microfoundations of macro-economics cannot be built by reducing the behaviour of the economy to that of one individual. The complex results of the interaction between agents must be taken into account. Two examples, one in which opinions are «contagious» and one in which we study the actual empirical behaviour of individuals in a decentralised empirical market are used to illustrate this.

This journal discusses audience control through information and communication technology in the perspective of communication psychology through studying phenomena with a literature approach. Information and communication technology (ICT) is capable of providing a controlling effect for individuals and society. In fact, from 2014-2019 there were mass actions carried out by a group of masses. Some have named it the MUI Fatwa Guard National Movement (GNPF-MUI) Action 411 and 212 until the mass action which took place on May 22, 2019 and on September 26, 2019. Various news has spread through the sophistication of information and communication technology through media applications social facebook, instagram, whatsapp information spreads so massively. This has an effect on controlling the behavior of individuals and communities (audiences), so that so many audiences who are exposed to information are unable to stem and carry out searches related to the information obtained, resulting in behavior in accordance with the expectations of the information disseminators. In this case it can be concluded that the effect of media can affect perceptions, down to the aspects of affection and behavior. Communication psychology provides a relevant understanding perspective related to these various phenomena. Individuals and societies when using information and communication technology involve perceptions, memories, needs, values, attitudes, motives, motivations, personality, knowledge, emotions, skills and personal and social interpretations. Thus it can be concluded that information and communication technology in use today can have an impact on audiences in aspects of perception, affection, and behavior. So without realizing it information technology can be used for the benefit of various individuals or groups in controlling audiences.

The digital era has fundamentally brought changes to various agricultural extension activities in carrying out communication activities. As is well known, extension agents as communication managers who serve as development agents are required and actively seeking information. The process seeking extension agent information is related to the media used and the cosmopolitan of the extension agents in dealing with information sources outside the village. This paper that the result of research that aims to describe the cosmopolite communication behavior of agricultural instructors and analyze the factors related to the cosmopolitan communication behavior of agricultural instructors in the digital era. The research location is in Cianjur District North Region, West Java. The research method used was a survey with a purposive sampling method of 5 UPTDs located in the North Region, obtained a sample of 80 extension workers. Data collection used questionnaires as primary data and in-depth interviews with related agencies as secondary data. The score calculation uses by analyzing the data to measure the level of cosmopolite communication behavior of the extension agents and the factors related to the cosmopolitan communication behavior of the extension agents. The results showed that the cosmopolite communication behavior of the extension agents in seeking information outside the village was still moderate. Then, age and years of service negatively correlated with the cosmopolitan communication behavior of the extension agents. It proves that the longer the extension worker works and the older the extension worker is, it does not indicate a cosmopolitan position of the extension agent in seeking information outside the village. Print media and electronic media are still the means of extension agents seeking information through the media, which is indicated by the research results that the accessibility of print and electronic media that positively correlated with the instructor's cosmopolite communication. Abstract Background Communicating with patients has long been identified as an important physician competency. More recently, there is a growing consensus regarding the components that define physician-patient communication. There continues to be emphasis on both the need to teach and to assess the communication skills of physicians. Objective This narrative review aims to summarize the work that has been conducted in physician-patient communication that supports the efficacy of good communications skills. This work may also help to define the physician-patient communication skills that need to be taught and assessed. Results A review of the literature shows it contains impressive evidence supporting positive associations between physician communication behaviors and positive patient outcomes, such as patient recall, patient understanding, and patient adherence to therapy. There is a consensus about what constitutes “best practice” for physician communication in medical encounters: (1) fostering the relationship, (2) gathering information, (3) providing information, (4) making decisions, (5) responding to emotions, and (6) enabling disease- and treatment-related behavior. Conclusions Evidence supports the importance of communication skills as a dimension of physician competence. Effort to enhance teaching of communication skills to medical trainees likely will require significant changes in instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as changes in assessing the developing communication skills of physicians. An added critical dimension is faculty understanding of the importance of communication skills, and their commitment to helping trainees develop those skills.

This research aim were: (1) To recognize the communication behavior of cattle farmers in searching information, (2) To analyze the level of farmer participation in cattle farmer communication network, (3) To explore the relationship between individual characteristics, (4) To explore interpersonal communication behavior and mass media utilization in cattle farmer communication network. The results showed that: (1) There was a significant difference of communication behavior between the advanced cattle farmers group and the less advanced one. This result informed the distinction of mass media used by cattle farmers in searching information i.e. interpersonal communication relationship in receiving and diffusing information and impersonal communication (media communication) behavior, particularly from television, broadcast and newspapers. (2) There was a significant relationship between formal education characteristic and impersonal communication behavior (television and radio and newspaper). There were significant relationship between economic class and newspaper impact behavior, between mass media ownership and television impact behavior, between education level and mass media ownership with the information search behavior. Individual characteristics of advanced farmers group have negative correlation with the information distribution behavior. Advanced farmer group were characterized by: well educated, higher economic class, more variety of mass media ownership, have more capability to select information according to their needs, profit oriented, risk taker, cosmopolites, have a communication pattern and good relationship among cattle farmer group. All of those characteristics caused un-proper of information diffusion

Communication is a way of disseminating information and sharing it with others. More formally, it is the transmission of information between a source and one or more receivers, the process of sharing meaning. Use a common set of rules We transmit information in different ways. To the people. This is often done in spoken or written language. but non-verbal communication also plays an important role in other interactions. For example, body posture, facial expressions, clothes worn, also contribute to the transmission of messages and constantly disseminate information. Intentionally or unintentionally. About our perceptions, intentions and feelings. Communication is unavoidable, it's not just about our own identity. You can get your message across without saying or doing anything. If you don't laugh or laugh at the right time, you can convey your message as hard as a smile or a laugh.

We design a laboratory experiment to study behavior in a multidivisional organization. The organization faces a trade‐off between coordinating its decisions across the divisions and meeting division‐specific needs that are known only to the division managers, who can communicate their private information through cheap talk. While the results show close to optimal communication, we also find systematic deviations from optimal behavior in how the communicated information is used. Specifically, subjects' decisions show worse than predicted adaptation to the needs of the divisions in decentralized organizations and worse than predicted coordination in centralized organizations. We show that the observed deviations disappear when uncertainty about the divisions' local needs is removed and discuss the possible underlying mechanisms.

Introduction/Objectives: Patient activation describes the knowledge, skills, and confidence that allow patients to actively engage in managing their health. Prior studies have found a strong relationship between patient activation and clinical outcomes, costs of care, and patient experience. Patients who are obese or overweight may be less engaged than normal weight patients due to lower confidence or stigma associated with their weight. The objective of this study is to examine whether weight status is associated with patient activation and its sub-domains (confidence, communication, information-seeking behavior). Methods: This repeated cross-sectional study of the 2011 to 2013 Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS) included a nationally representative sample of 13,721 Medicare beneficiaries. Weight categories (normal, overweight, obese) were based on body mass index. Patient activation (high, medium, low) was based on responses to the MCBS Patient Activation Supplement. Results: We found no differences in overall patient activation by weight categories. However, compared to those with normal weight, people with obesity had a higher relative risk (RRR 1.24; CI 1.09-1.42) of “low” rather than “high” confidence. Respondents with obesity had a lower relative risk (RRR 0.82; CI 0.73-0.92) of “low” rather than “high” ratings of communication with their doctor. Discussion and Conclusions: Though patients with obesity may be less confident in their ability to manage their health, they are more likely to view their communication with physicians as conducive to self-care management. Given the high receptivity among patients with obesity toward physician communication, physicians may be uniquely situated to guide and support patients in gaining the confidence they need to reach weight loss goals.

The idea behind marketing is finding out what customers want and need. As a result, to provide various product-related information to customers, marketers must be able to formulate policies that are supported by effective communication. As a result, designing consumer behavior requires a deeper understanding of communications, particularly marketing communications. This study aims to explain the field of marketing communications. Interacting with others can be made simpler by the availability of communication. There is no process of human life without communication. In other words, for everyone to achieve their goals, communication is essential for the exchange of ideas. Advertising, vendors, signs, shops, displays, product packages, free samples, coupons, giveaways and other marketing communication tools are examples. Impact marketing can also result in viral marketing via social networks such as Facebook due to shifts in consumer behavior. The new digital age introduces new challenges and opportunities for leaders to engage their followers in voice behavior. Drawing on the conservation of resources theory, the objective of this paper is to examine the mediating role of employee engagement and the moderating role of the degree of digital communication by conducting two independent studies comprised of 116 and 188 employees. Results indicated that the positive effect of LMX on voice was mediated by employee engagement. Analyzing the moderation effects of the degree of digital communication, we found that the degree of digital communication attenuated the increase in employee engagement associated with LMX. We contribute to the literature on LMX and employee engagement by showing that while voice behaviors are reduced via the increased use of digital communication in the workplace, leaders can leverage digital communications to engage employees with lower LMX.

Leader-member exchange (LMX) represents the quality of interaction between leaders and members of a work unit, such as the information system function within an organization. LMX is expected to improve organizational citizenship behavior, beneficial behaviors not explicitly rewarded, but prior research has failed to establish this link satisfactorily. To determine the influence of LMX in the IS environment, a model is developed based on the background in the IS and management literature that considers LMX an important contributor to job satisfaction and organizational commitment. In turn, organizational commitment influences both work quality and organizational citizenship behaviors in a beneficial way. The model is confirmed with a sample of IS professionals in Taiwan. The results show that effective communication and coordination is crucial between leaders and subordinates at levels within the organization not previously considered.

This study examines early-career scientists' cognition, affect, and behaviors before, during, and after a series of science communication training workshops drawing from the Risk Information Seeking and Processing (RISP) and Theory of Planned Behavior theoretical models. We find correlations between engagement (throughout the training), self-reported knowledge and intention to apply their science communication skills. We discuss implications of these findings for science communication training, in particular that science communication behaviors and investment in skill development appear to be more dependent on attitudes and motivations cultivated during the training, rather than their attitudes and motivations coming in.

Abstract Proxies can help users to bypass the network filtering system, leaving the network open to banned content, and can also enable users to anonymize themselves for terminal security protection. Proxies are widely used in the current network environment. However, certain spy proxies record user information for privacy theft. In addition, attackers can use such technologies to anonymize malicious behaviors and hide identities. Such behaviors have posed serious challenges to the internal defense and security threat assessment of an organization; however, the anonymity of the proxy makes it consistent with normal network communication, and general network traffic identification methods are not able to detect it. To accurately and effectively discover proxy users in the organization based on s, a proxy user detection method based on communication behavior portrait offers the following: (1) analysis of the communication behavior from the perspective of the portrait. Based on not abandoning the effective information of the traffic itself, the label system is established by introducing exogenous data to identify the difference between proxy communication and normal communication. (2) Construction of the portrait feature set of proxy user detection based on the traffic file and external data by studying the differences between the attribute sets of communication behavior labels for proxy users and non-proxy users. (3) Design and implementation a data-driven machine learning method to supply guidance for automatic recognition of such behavior. The experimental results show that, compared with state-of-the-art methods, the detection accuracy for the proxy user exceeds 95%, and that of real network traffic environment exceeds 85%. These results indicate that the detection method proposed in this paper can accurately distinguish proxy communication and normal communication and thus achieves precise proxy user detection.

Communication is a very important thing in life, if we are not careful in communicating, it cannot be denied that it will be trigger misunderstandings. Communication in everyday life both in economic and social activities, not only by using verbal words, but also using non-verbal words. Without communication, there will be no interaction between humans. The interaction as a result of this communication is related to the attitude or behavior of each individual which must also be adjusted and/or to adapt to the various cultures of each. This culture will shape, strengthen and change attitudes and behavior both individually and socially in the cultural environment concerned. For that we must communicate well in order to create a good life between us. And also in communicating not only to convey messages, but to change behavior. Do not let what we convey, not in harmony with the behavior of the speaker. So that makes the communicant distrust and no longer want to communicate with us. So the existence of the communication management makes the implementation of the communication run effectivel, so that the messages or result expected from the delivery of the information is as expected. Management and communication presents an effective management and delivery scheme of information messages, so as to create harmony in the communication carried out.

Purpose of the study: The purpose of this research is to analyze the disaster communication patterns and behaviors of Twitter users. Flood disaster in the Jabodetabek area became an unexpected event in early 2020. The flood inundated 23 areas in Bekasi, two regions in Bogor, and 17 areas in Jakarta. Information about floods became a trending topic on the 1st of January 2020. Methodology: The method used is social network analysis and text analysis #Banjir2020 on Twitter, using Netlytic and Gephi. The sample analyzed 1000 tweets from 304 users and 670 edges. The data was selected from the 10th to 13th of January 2020. Netlytic.org limits that we can only retrieve tweets data from Twitter for less than 2 weeks due to API limitations. Main Findings: The result shows that #Banjir2020 disaster communication patterns on Twitter formed five significant clusters on its network. The communication occurred as one-way communication. A low level of network density showed that the quiet intensity of communication and slow information to be able to spread throughout vast networks. Every twitter user involved can directly provide information to others. Judging from the messages conveyed, the most formed behavior is the behavior of information dissemination regarding this flood. The next significant response is the defense of DKI Jakarta Governor. Implications of this study: The disaster communication behaviors on #Banjir2020 is dominated by flood disaster information in some areas. Communication patterns form vast networks but still lack in terms of intensity, two-way communication, and slow information to move throughout the system. Novelty/Originality of this study: The research of #banjir2020 through Twitter using the analysis of SNA and disaster communication behavior has never been done by other researchers.

Frequency hopping (FH) communication technology is adopted widely in military and civil fields, due to its excellent communication characteristics such as antisearch and anti-interference. Efficient reconnaissance methods of FH communication are becoming a research hotspot. In this paper, a novel reconnaissance approach for FH communication emitters is proposed, by using the TMDA protocol behavior identification. Based on the signalling used in the TDMA protocol, the protocol behavior for FH communication can be specified. These behaviors are usually used for the process controlling of FH communication and network maintenance. Therefore, recognition of FH communication protocol behaviors can be used for emitter intention reasoning indirectly. Simulation results show that the proposed approach is effective and potential for application.

This paper proposes a convert communication model based on network behavior features. Convert communication program firstly judges the most frequent communication features between the two sides, and then embeds the secret information into multimedia carrier. At last, the multimedia that carries secret information is sent to the receiver, according to communication features. A convert communication completes. The experimental results indicate that the model will not only hide convert communication behavior into normal communication behavior between hosts, but also it provides high security of communication.

Background: In cancer communication, patients and physicians often understand a patient’s experience and situation differently. This can negatively impact health outcomes and the physician–patient relationship. Aim: To explore how cancer patients’ interpretations of the physician’s role as information giver affect the communication relationship with the physician and their information-seeking behavior regarding different aspects of their cancer care. Design: Participants completed a semistructured qualitative interview addressing their treatment experience and communication with their physician. Interviews were coded and analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. Setting/Participants: Ten patients with cancer treated at a regional cancer center in central Illinois participated in the study. Cancer stages I to IV and 4 cancer types were represented. Results: Participants’ orientations to the relationship with their physician (and their information-seeking behavior) were classified into 4 general categories: (1) “questioners” have a general mistrust toward their physicians and the information doctors are giving; (2) “the undecided” focuses on physician “fit,” often requiring time to step away in order to make decisions and process information; (3) “cross-checkers” are concerned with content of their treatment protocol, often double-checking the treatment plan; and (4) “the experience-oriented” feel a gap between their experience and their physician’s experience (and perspective), often seeking information from other survivors. All categories described a perceived lack of adequate exchange of information and the need to seek information outside of the physician–patient relationship to compensate. Conclusion: Participants exhibited different information-seeking behaviors based on how they interpreted the role of their physician as information giver. This affected what kind of information they sought and how they understood the information received, which in turn affected understanding of their broader experience and care.

Today, in the context of universal digitalization and informatization of the society, the Internet environment is becoming a criminogenic communication environment, favorable for the commission of "speech crimes", i.e. speech actions that form the objective element of the corpus delicti. The paper is devoted to the criminological analysis of the factors that determine the negative impact of information threats on users of the digital communication environment (primarily, the Internet environment). Based on monitoring social communication in the Internet and analyzing the patterns of language functioning in conditions of the Internet communication, the authors summarize the main properties of the Internet communication and factors that provide the possibility of abuse of rights (freedom of speech and the right to freely search, receive, transmit, produce and distribute information) in order to have a destructive impact on the ideological safety of Internet users (primarily children and young people). Such factors include simulation, virality, hyperreality, the phenomenon of social disinhibition, etc. Particular attention is paid to the concept of destructiveness of information impact, considered on the basis of an analysis of the phenomena of human destructiveness, aggression and cyber aggression, deviance and delinquency. The authors propose to treat content risks and communication risks as forms of representation of destructive speech behavior in the digital environment as information threats to the ideological security of the Internet communication. The paper provides the authors’ classification of the information risks under consideration based on a generalization of judicial and forensic practice (including cases when materials were included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials by court decisions), the practice of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor), as well as interdisciplinary analysis of scientific publications. The authors suggest that the terms "mortilatrya" and "eridophobia" be introduced in the context of ensuring the worldview security. The authors of the paper analyze the influence on the axiosphere of the Internet user of delinquent subcultures that erode a person’s identity in order to impose a new pseudo-correct- identity.

Communications is the act of conveying information from one place, individual, or organisation to others. Any communications involves a transmitter, an information, and a receiver. Although this might seem to be a simple notion, communications is really a very complex subject. The message's path from source to destinations might be influenced by a multitude of circumstances. Our feelings, our cultural background, the communication channel we use, and even our physical location are all aspects to consider. This study discusses the overview of English communication skills, Types of English languages used worldwide, Different category of English communication skills, 7 C’s of effective English communication, importance of English communication and semantics barriers in English communication skills. To make engagement meaningful and to make oneself known, two-way communications inspire, informs, proposes, cautions, commands, changes behavior, and establishes better connections. When a communicator is knowledgeable enough to speak skillfully, simply, clearly, truthfully, and dynamically, communications become successful. This study will help the reader to understand the importance of English communication skills.

To effectively protect the communication content and communication behavior of social networks, anonymous communication technologies are widely used. However, the anonymous communication networks represented by Tor and I2P lack the covertness of the control plane design, which leads to important user behavioral characteristics in the process of accessing anonymous communication networks. Therefore, network monitors can analyze users' communication behavior by tracking these characteristics. In this paper, the concept of covert measurement is proposed. On this basis, a software-defined anonymous communication network architecture is presented, which also considers the covertness of the anonymous communication network control plane and the data plane. According to the theoretical analysis and experimental results, the anonymous communication network architecture proposed in this paper has better anonymity and usability than traditional anonymous communication networks, such as Tor.

Mass media campaigns can be effective at communicating health information to a mass audience rather inexpensively. Critics of mass media health campaigns often contend, however, that interpersonal communication is more effective at changing behavior. Conversely, interpersonal communication activities to promote health can be effective at changing behavior, but critics have argued that they have certain limitations such as being expensive and personal (perhaps intrusive), and that they provide nonstandardized information. The present study is an evaluation of a street theater format in Perú that combined the advantages of mass and interpersonal communication to improve family planning knowledge and attitudes. The street theater was effective in decreasing misinformation concerning modern contraceptive methods.

Purpose How to effectively manage information flow continues presenting challenges for effective responsive strategies in communication, reflecting the magnitude and impact of a data-driven and strategy-oriented market environment globally. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to discover how concerns related to the rise of social media have affected communication leaders’ operational and managerial practice from an international perspective. The overarching aim is to better understand these concerns in order to contribute to effective responsive strategies in communication practice in the future. Design/methodology/approach The authors relied on data from an international online survey of public relations and communication professionals in multiple countries who were asked their perceptions and behaviors concerning the impact of information flow and the digital revolution on their practice. ANOVA analyses and hierarchical regression models were used to identify the heterogeneity across five clustered groups of countries. Findings Results confirmed a strong desire among communication professionals in multiple countries to learn more about information management in practice. Results identified the overall patterns of responsive strategies that have been widely adopted by public relations professionals in specific country clusters across the globe. In order to better manage social media and the digital revolution, all five of the surveyed country clusters indicated that it is effective to integrate more social media strategies and to train employees in social media. Originality/value The research has explored the importance surrounding information management in an era of widespread digital content, including how concerns in this area have affected strategic decision-making in communication practice. Equally important, the authors provide a more global perspective on this critical topic by analyzing communication professionals’ perceptions in grouped country clusters. Results of the research have identified the similarities and differences in responsive strategies to cope with information flow concerns across grouped country clusters.
