Повний текст джерелаAs the very full knowledge of all the elements of the environment is impossible, it is necessary to build up representations about these. Among other functions, they allow to resolve the dissonance between actual and aspirational connections with the represented object. Our purpose is not only to describe social representations about mental illness, but principally to appraise in what degree the prospect of connections with an object induces the structure and the dynamic of its representations. In this way, some elements of representations was compared close to groups of students according to their formation affiliation, about mental illness or not (between psychiatric mursing or not in a first time, and psychology studding or not in a second time). The results we obtained, at the end of these two experimental studies, brought us up to come to the conclusion that the social representations about an object which belong to the actual or potential of the ulterior practice of the members of a group -are determinated by the importance of this object in the definition and the upholding of the identity of this group -will be altered reciprocally to this importance of definition and upholding. Meanwhile, these assumptions cannot be confirm, an account of methodological wants. But they allow to explain the results we obtained, and the conflicting conclusions we laid in a circumstantial bibliographical analysis about opinions, representations and attitudes to mental illness

Повний текст джерелаThe health sector has experienced many changes over the last decades which entails a loss of caregivers’ bearings affecting their employment relationship. This thesis is placed along the avenues of research suggested by the literature which highlight the focus put on the consequences of the breach and violation of the psychological contract, neglecting its construction and dynamics. This doctoral work is intended to be a contribution to these less studied aspects through a longitudinal qualitative approach. A year-long case study was carried out with a cohort of 40 newly-graduated nurses who were recruited in 18 French health facilities nationally. The reciprocity of the contract is also considered from the perspective of the management representatives. The data resulting from 219 interviews conducted were complemented with observations and documentary analysis. On the theoretical level, the approach adopted enables the dynamics of the psychological contract to be understood and a model to be proposed; from the anticipated creation, during nursing studies, up to a stabilized phase after a year of professional activity in a care service. On the managerial level, this work suggests possible reasoning for the construction of a sustainable and satisfying employment relationship between the hospital structure and caregivers

Повний текст джерелаThe hospital is an environment of professional risks. Therefore, this research falls within the field of social occupational psychology and organizations with health at workplace as the main interest, a practical and research field which aims at improving health, at preventing and protecting workers in hospitals. In this research, we discuss the risk of accidents due to blood exposure (AES risks), risks to which nurses are daily exposed to during the accomplishment of their tasks. Aware of these professionals ills, in the hospital, the institutions listed in the protection of health care professionals, particularly the study group of risks due to exposure to blood (GERES) and the coordination center against hospital-based infections (CCLIN) have established standard measures and safety equipment to reduce the probability of the occurrence of the risk of accidents due to exposure to blood in the hospital. Our subject comes within the scope of the representation of professional risks, especially the risk of accidents due to exposure to blood (AES risks) among the nurses of the Libreville City Hospital- Gabon (CHL- Gabon). The representation of the risk of accidents related to exposure to blood may or may not incite nurses to respect standard precautions and to use safety equipment

Повний текст джерелаThis research, emanating from the field of the Human Sciences in sciences of education, uses the hermeneutic approach in a movement where the biographic process allows the nurse to be seen in the narrative of the interviews, and to observe the nurse, as caregiver in a body-to-body relation with the patients. This thought concerns the paradox of the nurse body in her/his activity inside the places of care including general-purpose reanimation, adult psychiatry and geriatrics. Therefore, this thesis, taking its theoretical roots from the concept of biographisation, will attempt to show how the complexities and the paradoxes of the human body physical presence enable the observation of that which this unspoken by the nurse who becomes a professional caregiver

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis in education science focuses on the nurse trainers using full-scale clinical simulation in their training plans. This educational tool, based on experiential apprenticeship and reflexivity on the practice, is considered both innovative and complex to use. It especially requires questioning the customary practices of teaching. The author’s has tried to identify what determines and characterizes the commitment of the trainers in this activity, and to understand how and according to which logics that commitment manifests itself at the heart of their practices. The search crossed the sociocognitive theoretical framework of Bandura (1977) and the vocational didactics (Pastré, 1997, 2002); it also used models of commitment and of teaching practice. This study has a descriptive approach of the commitment profiles in the activity and a comprehensive approach of their demonstrations. The empirical material was obtained from semi-directive interviews, observations in situation followed by self-confrontation interviews. It was handled according to qualitative and quantitative mixed methods. The results highlight a dominant profile, favouring the dialogical and hermeneutic logics, and a second profile, underlined by logics rather personal and technical; hence allowing the author to propose a typology of commitment profiles in the activity. The observed and analysed practices reveal the influence of the commitment profile on the educational perspective. A strong tension between a control position and a “let it go” position was identified, the latter being the sign of a transformation in the implementation of learning beliefs

Повний текст джерелаThe vast majority of French nursing students succeed in their studies despite having experienced stress factors, that can often be associated or, indeed, lead to burnout. We conducted a literature review followed by a semi-structured interview of 30 nursing students. The aim was to explore the concepts of vulnerability and resilience and how nursing students use these to succeed in their studies. Our main results confirm that nursing training places students in a situation of temporary vulnerability. Personal factors of vulnerability identified were: the stakes due to learning during the youth or later in adult life and the process of identity. The main factors of vulnerability relating to the environment were; the difficulty in measuring the gap between the ideal and reality, the emotional experience with the patient during their placement and establishment of difficult relationships with supervisors, who are often suffering in their work. The main consequences observed were stress, anxiety, insomnia, or loss of hope. These symptoms are sometimes the expression of post-traumatic stress disorder or of a professional burnout. On the other hand, the survey revealed that resilient processes can be observed during the studies. The main protective factors identified in the study that gave the students resilience were ; learning in oneself and supportive teachers, which allows the mentalization process. Defense mechanisms are also activated during training. Altruism in the supportive relationship both with mentors and the camaradery formed with fellow students were particularly evident amongst the interview responses. Potential sources of resilience identified were: student groups, trainers, directors, health managers / supervisors, nurses, nursing aides and psychologists. In summary, we have analyzed the new elements that this research has shown and compared to previous studies that have been conducted about the risk of among nursing students. We identified the main characteristic of their resilience tutors that emerged from our investigation: compassion. Finally, we considered the pedagogical follow-up and the analysis of professional practice as the two sequences of learning to promote resilience

Повний текст джерелаOur study focuses self-sacrifice on nursing care and more specifically about the calling in nurse profession. As the work wore on, we search to know how people decided to become a nurseWe seek to know what motivates individuals to practice this profession exposed to what society is driving back today: vulnerability, old age, illness and death. The point of entry of our research has started around a terminology: the calling or vocation, to arrive at the postulate that the commitment in nursing requires a particular form of "love" which urges us to bring relief, attention and care to the vulnerable person. We know that to grasp this commitment is to accept the complexity. For nurses, we are confronted with an entanglement of wills, demands, choices, desires, dreams, idealistic representations, search for explanations, meaning that constitutes the basis on which actors engage. In this work, we looked at the initial commitment. In a comprehensive approach, we questioned nursing students and nurses about the time when they decided to take the plunge and chose to engage in the profession. The survey allowed us to collect a number of data and verbatim, which crossed with our personal data, allowed to explore this process. We compared the data collected with Marcel Mauss's theory of the gift. A cluster of orientations between freedom and constraint, gratuitousness and interest, have served us as the axis on which our whole demonstration has been mobilized. We went to seek the modes of meaning and incarnation of the nursing commitment to the prism of the conceptual mapping of the tetralogy of the gift. Keywords: to care, to cure, involvement, nurse, vocation, media visuals, gift, thankfulness

Повний текст джерелаThe main aim of this thesis was to study the effects of two brief psychotherapeutic interventions in group format. They shared some ingredients, notably mindfulness practices and the attitudes inherent in mindfulness (acceptance, self-compassion, kindness): emotion regulation training in a clinical population (patients with eating disorders), and mindfulness training for healthcare workers, in a public university hospital ward. We developed the first intervention (study 1) following recent developments in evidence-based transdiagnostic psychotherapeutic approaches to emotional disorders. The second intervention (study 2) was translated from a standardized clinical program adapted for the general population. We examined the effects of these interventions on clinical symptoms (eating disorders, stress, anxiety and depression) and process variables (emotion regulation, mindfulness, self-compassion, rumination, psychological flexibility and acceptance). The results obtained in these studies provide empirical support for the hypothesis that the use of mindfulness techniques promotes adaptive emotion regulation, both in patients (study 1) and in healthy subjects (study 2).Moreover, the improvement in eating disorder-specific symptoms in patients with eating disorders (indirect, since not targeted by the intervention) provides encouraging empirical support for the value of targeting emotional regulation as an adjuvant treatment in this pathology. This work led to three articles. The first (published) paper presents a review of the literature on emotion regulation deficits in people with eating disorders, and points to the value of developing acceptance and mindfulness-based interventions in the context of this pathology. The second article (submitted for publication) examines the acceptability and effects of an emotion regulation training intervention in patients with eating disorders. The third article (in preparation) examines the feasibility and effects of a brief mindfulness program to reduce stress and increase well-being among healthcare staff

Повний текст джерелаEvery year in France, according to educational laws, prevention initiatives on drugs and alcohol addiction/addiction behavior should be organized in every school. We study the social conditions of the implementation of such interventions in rural department of southern France. How do the production conditions of prevention policies influence the social space of drug consumers local care? How do the investments of agents in preventive actions legitimate their ordinary work? How do public actors build the professional legitimacy of these workers? How the implementation of a public policy as the prevention of addictions at school, contributes to the institutional order it is inscribed in? On one hand, prevention of addictions is based on a gendered division of the ways populations called at risk's are controlled: on one side, activities socially drawn as feminine (prevention, listening and care); on the other side's masculine's ones (repression, discipline and work). Agents who intervene at school belong to different spaces (artistic field, medical field and penal field) in which prevention is symbolically devalued. On the contrary, at school, they can enhance their position. On the other hand, by their reappropiations of school space, the staging of students's bodies and their use of a real talk's, agents of prevention try to distinguish themselves from the way they think students perceive them and the school system. The combination of these attempts of distinction and the need to "hold" students, make easier boys's involvements during these interventions

Повний текст джерелаWe present a comparative study of the identity dynamics of nurses in France and Japan. This study relies upon the paradigm of four identity forms:categorical occupation identity, professional network identity, company identity and not-work related identity. With this theoretical framework, we examine the results of three surveys conducted in French and Japanese hospitals. The first deals with the consciousness of professional alignment and the structured relation of gender. The second investigates the integration in hospital organization. The third explores the three elements of professional identity, namely trajectory, work relations and professional education. We observe that the gendered division of labor comes into question in the identity dynamics of French nurses. They construct a categorical occupation identity, dissociating qualified tasks from nonqualified tasks (attached with female stereotypes), and a professional network identity, depending on their capacity to distance themselves from a gendered division of labor. On the other hand, the identity dynamics of Japanese nurses is characterized by the conservation of a gendered division of labor. Japanese nurses do not have any enduring commitment to professional life and are inclined to construct an identity outside of work. However, some succeed to construct an identity through their worlplace, based on traditional male stereotypes

Повний текст джерелаThe aim of this thesis is to raise awareness of how State Qualified Operating Room Nurses deal with the constant evolutions of their professional activity, such as legislation to reorganize the French health system which impacts strongly on operating rooms, new standards of activities and skills for operating room nurses, validation of work knowledge and experience, exclusive operating room acts, etc. It investigates the potential psychological discomfort felt by the personnel when they consciously avoid respecting good practices by committing routine violations (Bourrier, 1999) either through necessity or convenience (Reason, 2013). These nurses generally extoll the virtues of professional health care, notably “taking care” (Hesbeen, 1997), rigour, safety, quality treatment, and feel uncomfortable when committing any sort of violation which could increase the surgical risks for the patient. The theory of cognitive dissonance (Festinger, 1957) can help to understand such phenomenon insofar as these professionals combine incompatible cognitions such as safety and avoiding risks on the one hand, and violations on the other. Two complimentary methodologies are used here. The questionnaire of the quantitative survey allows the cognitions, values, and perfectible practices to be matched with the emotions felt by the nurses. A scale of 20 selfrelated affects is used to achieve this (Lecrique, 2007). The interviews and their thematic analysis of the qualitative survey bring to light different strategies for reducing dissonance. The final discussion deals with the professional context in which the nurses evolve, a context which is likely to normalize violations by generating an increase in accident-prone zones (Amalberti and al., 2006), at the expense of guaranteeing safe treatment in the service of the patient

Повний текст джерелаClothing is the theme of this social, psychological, political and cultural study of the nursing profession since its creation, that is to say, from the 1870's to the present day. The first part entitled "origin and birth of the symbol" goes from 1870 a 1990. It traces in which context the woman, because she is a woman, can only be a nurse and subservient. Clothing is the symbol of such professional values as denial of self and subservience. This conception is also linked to professional role models. The second part is entitled "in search of an impossible function" it analyses in particular the change after the 1970's of clothing. Of what significance is the passage from a symbolic costume to a functional costume, both on the structure of the institutions and on personal identity. This latter is discussed in relation to the evolution of the literature. Numerous paradoxes tend to place the nurse in a double constraints, as described by Bateson

Повний текст джерелаWhat about the suffering of geriatrics personnel ? It appears to be plural, frequently mentioned and denounced, however rarely examined in research. It is one thing to state it, to relay it, to talk about it. However, it is another to examine it closely, subdivide it into its principal components. We chose to study this topic based on a literature review of burn-out, and in a helplessness-hopelessness theory perspective. Trait anxiety was assessed using the STAI-Y (Spielberger, 1983), and depression was assessed using the CESD (Radloff, 1977). The 150 participants were recruited during a survey in geriatrics throughout the country. Our results demonstrate the existence of a continuum between anxiety-depression comorbodity and burn-out. This relationship is even stronger, and more significant when motivation is used as a mediator. The helplessness-hopelessness theory (Alloy et al. , 1989) offers directions for the understanding of burn-out in geriatrics personnel in that it brought us to consider resignation as a passive coping strategy when confronted to the threat of burn-out. Our findings allow us to understand the discrepancy between caregivers' expectations, and the everyday reality they are confronted to in their profession. We believe that this discrepancy becomes a vulnerability factor as it grows

For that purpose, we have simultaneously led two studies so as to identify the nurses abilities and the identity representations of professional groups (first study), and to analyse the identity and ability structures that build up the identity of each subject (second study). Our results have allowed us to highlight three different forms of nurses abilities (transactional, technical and adaptive) which act as determining factors in the building up of their identity. They confirm the major role of abilities in the identity dynamics and reveal the prevalence of a transactional ability which comes as a response to the lack of professional acknowledgement and to the identity crisis which affects this professional group

Повний текст джерелаThis research pertains to the effects of professional training, the availability of resource nurses, professional choice (hospice work and oncology) and coping mechanisms nurses develop to deal with the death of their patients. In this research we will emphasize stress principals coping mechanisms and burnout. Our theory is that training people in hospice work, the presence of a resource person, acting as professional, all of those are means to prevent burnout. Strategically those means help in the coping mechanisms of nurses faced with the stress of death. The study was done with 185 nurses working in oncology and hospices settings. It included two comparative samples. The results were obtained once passed the burnout scale (MBI) and the coping scale (ETC) from a stress scale built on specific situations. The study has demonstrated differences between trained and untrained nurses. Untrained nurses working in oncology setting without the help of a resource person become more defensive (emotional focalization, retreat, denial) and are very closed to total emotional exhaustion and loss of identity described as burnout. On the other hand, trained nurses working in oncology setting with the help of a resource person have demonstrated the ability to develop strategical coping mechanisms socially accepted (social help, control) and are very close to personal accomplishment. Because of these results, we can therefore conclude that repeated contact with dying patients or death does not alienate nurses but can favor a re-actualization of oneself in the instance where outside and inside resources are mobilized

Повний текст джерелаIn today's Western society, the subject of death is taboo. The effects of this are suffered by the nurse providing end-of-life care: self-doubt, fear of death, powerlessness, distress or grief. Her sense of anguish also has repercussions for the dying patient: caregivers struggle to communicate and they avoid contact. The level of professional experience as well as the age of the nurses does seem, however, to soften their relationship with death. We therefore considered the experience of the novice nurse when faced with death and dying, since young graduates are known to avoid care environments where death occurs on a regular basis, due to their negative association with these healthcare settings. As a consequence, there is expected to be a real shortage of healthcare workers in these sectors in a few years' time. In order to gain an understanding of their experience, we were inspired by a phenomenological sociology, acknowledging that any reality is based on frameworks and meanings within a given society. By means of semi-structured interviews, we collected accounts of the experience of 16 nurses working in a variety of environments (medicine, home-based care, A& E, intensive care, surgery, geriatrics, palliative care, etc.), since death is present everywhere. Bearing in mind that we are researchers, but first and foremost human beings imbued with a social origin, we subjected the material collected to a thematic analysis based on the postulate that no scientist can be entirely free of interpretative referents modulated by the society to which they relate. The results of our study have shown that novice nurses who encounter death and dying tend to undergo an experience on two complementary dimensions. The first relates to a somewhat revelatory experience, based on perceptions and stimulating various senses such as sight, hearing, touch and smell. Accordingly, the nature of this experience is one of discovery, since the prevailing sensations are unlike any that the caregivers are already familiar with. As such, dealing with the tragedy of death and dying involves undergoing a shocking encounter, with the intolerable sight of the dead body and the sound of the last dying breaths of the patient. Encountering the unspeakable also involves experiencing a sickening closeness due to the bodily odours of the dying individual and the smell of the end of life. The participants also felt the strangeness of death, carrying with it the life of the person as it releases from the body. Lastly, the respondents experienced the horror associated with the idea of seeing a dead body; a sense of terror heightened by the media, which today is deeply ingrained in our collective imagination. The second aspect of the experience undergone by nurses relates to concerns about failings and the ability to act appropriately. Caregivers felt alone at the moment of dealing with the tragedy of dying; they blamed themselves in cases of accidental death, supposing they had overlooked something; they rebelled against the behaviour of their peers who showed a lack of respect towards a dead body. Caregivers also met with a disarming scepticism about pain management for the dying patient and about the manner in which they evaluate a death. Those participants immersed in a culture of advanced medical science, continuing to push the boundaries of death to the detriment of the hopeless patient's well-being, have also been affected by feelings of helplessness and frustration. Lastly, they noted a certain satisfaction at the idea of having been able to properly fulfil their social function. With light now shed on these experiences, a number of recommendations have been made by professionals in the area of training, such as familiarization with death and dying through an understanding of the physiological stages of the dying process and knowing how to care for the body after death. Caregivers also expressed certain requirements for building solidarity and confidence, for example, by promoting dialogue with the interdisciplinary team, being aware of the patient's last wishes and understanding the palliative care phase, to help them in dealing with the tragedy of death. Повний текст джерелаSocial science studies of psychiatry have been mainly interested in the social mandate of the psychiatric institution. The polarisation of psychiatry between psychodynamic approaches and biological approaches in the etiology of mental disorders has given rise to public debates but also within the social science to question of the scientific and therapeutic functions of this medical speciality. This thesis proposes to jointly investigate the transformations of contemporary psychiatry, the professional organisation of the psychiatric hospital, the therapeutic function allocated in Prance to the psychiatric hospital and psychiatric practices by comparing the practices of care in two psychiatric wards: one of psychoanalytic orientation, the other referring to psychopharmacology. The thesis plan is organised around a central hypothesis in that the studied wards form some worlds of care which order and organise entities involved in the definition of care according to the primary aim of treatment pursued by each of them. The first part of the thesis focuses on the medical activity with the study of overall medical organisation and the forms of doctor-patient relationships. The second part of the thesis recounts the genealogy of nursing practice in psychiatry.
Emotions and work of personal care of elderly, keeping disgust down, but not too much The work of caregivers assigned to the personal care of elderly residents in institutional facilities is often thought of as “dirty work, ” part of the unrewarding aspects of nursing care, but also, more generally, part of the unrewarding aspects of domestic work which the whole society seems to loathe. This work is delegated to women – and a few men – who must deal with unbearable feelings of disgust and the ethical threat that this represents for “care work” (Molinier, 2005). Using a theoretical framework integrating both moral theory of emotions (Ben Ze'ev, 1997; Miller, 1997; Nussbaum, 2001) and psychodynamics of work (Dejours, 1980c), this thesis examines how caregivers use their creative intelligence (Dejours, 1993b) to deal with the emotional and moral conflict between the disgust they feel and the core values of care work and to preserve themselves from the disgust. If the intelligence of emotions involves elements of emotional conflict and the plasticity of emotions falls within the competence of action, thus work plays a central role in reducing the contradiction inherent in this conflict. Based on structural oppositions of disgust and from human conducts in work situations models, an ad hoc analytical grid was developed to understand how caregivers keep their feelings of disgust away, protecting themselves by adopting an ingenious approach involving subjective distance. This work protects the workers, their coworkers but in the first instance, the elderly residents, from the loathing of disgust and from its contaminating power (Rozin, 1986). Above all, while protecting themselves from disgust, caregivers keep disgust still active, isolating pollution in an object of residual disgust, in order to test the vitality of the work collective. By working in full view of others and exposing how they break with the distance prescribed by the norm of respectfulness, the caregivers appeal to the collective sharing of the risk that breaking this norm implies. Highlighting the ingenuity of care work socially contributes to opening up a space such that the voice of these women, who are striving to build a world that is fit to live in, compensating for the human vulnerability, can be heard. Keywords: emotions at work, disgust, “dirty work”, “care work”, moral risk, emotional conflict, cooperation, gerontology.

In this perspective, the reflection on the managerial practices deserves to be thorough. This research project has three objectives: to conceptualize, measure and predict the influence of emotional support at work (ESW) on organizational commitment, job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behaviour. Our reflection is based on three points. (1) Study the psychological tensions ( conflicts Work / family -life / work) and job characteristics (psychological demand, physical constraints, Complexity of work ... ) is a key input that requires (2) a reflection on the emotional support at work and emotional regulation strategies as moderating variables for ( 3) study the effects of moderating variables in integrating research models incorporating burnout, organizational commitment , emotional dissonance, job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behaviour. The hospital raises an exemplary manner the dynamics and challenges of local management. We will consider three cases: The University Hospital of Bab El Oued (Algeria), University Hospital of Brugmann, (Belgium) and The University Hospital of Bordeaux (France). To provide some answers, we mobilize two methods: qualitative and quantitative (more about a double measure of perceived SET and a measure of emotional regulation strategies) with a comparison of the target institutions. Key words : Emotional support at work_ psychological tensions (conflict work / life and family / work) - Work Characteristics (psychological demand, physical constraints, Labor Complexity ) Burnout – organizational commitment - emotional dissonance - organizational citizenship behaviour _ Strategies work emotional regulation

Повний текст джерелаOver the years, the motivation for continuing education of adults has gained considerable ground among researchers in Education Science. This topic polarizes a sustained interest from a section of the scientific community because it appears that the role of motivation is determinant in the educational endeavours of adults. Nonetheless, despite numerous trainings given in almost all areas of professional activities like in health, no research has been undertaken on this subject in Burkina Faso. Grounded on a methodology based on quantitative and qualitative inputs – one questionnaire and two semi-structured interviews - , this dissertation tries to understand the benefits outcomes for which nurses of the Regional Direction of Health of the Centre engage in professional trainings. The analysis of discourses and the statistical analysis of results based on the motives of engagement elaborated by Philippe Carré (2001), show that nurses are engaged in professional training for the following motives: professional, identity, and vocational. The study also reveals problematic relations deeply linked to each of the three motives: epistemic, economic and professional. Finally, this study underlines the difficulty of most of adults in the formulation of some of their motives of engagement in training, like nurses who tend to hide the economic factor behind their decision to attend training

Повний текст джерелаAn exploratory survey that aimed to identify the role of caregivers' touching enabled to mformulate following questions : What is the impact of caregiver's touching to the construction of their body-psyche link, does it represent a way likely to join body to language ? Is touching a valuable resource in filling a psychological lack or emptiness ? Can touching be a mediator in introducing a differentiation between protagonists ? How does the caregiver combine prohibition and / or permission on touching in his or her inner experience ? The tools used in answering these various questions were of three categories : semi-structured interviews which allowed the subjects to express both their motivations when starting their training and their internship experiences with either patients or hospital hierarchy and/or staff ; a projective test by mean of Stein’s sentences completion to which many other focused sentences, about representations of touching as well as of body and about the link between both items, were added ; a photo-language that enabled the subjects to narrate a story related to the topic of this research. The population consisted of a sample of three nurse students in their final year of training that lasts four years. On a theoretical level, this research is founded by concepts developed by D. Anzieu (Me-skin, prohibition on touching, psychic envelopes), D. W. Winnicott (holding and handling), P. Aulagnier (pictogram) and from works on touching by T. Field from Miami University

To do so, we suggested and exam this fundamental hypothesis that employee recognition at work has positive effect on both discretionary behaviors namely helping behavior and innovative behavior. We tested this hypothesis by conducting a qualitative study on a sample of 20 nurses that we have completed with a quantitative study conducted among a sample of 215 Tunisians nurses. The results of our study allowed us to identify the most explanatory forms of recognition of the helping behavior and innovation behavior. The results of our doctoral dissertation showed that nurses are constantly in search of recognition and they are looking to make their work more visible in order to ensure different forms of recognition, some of this forms have proved the most explanatory of both discretionary behaviors. Our research is innovative and contributes to study the employee recognition as a factor that promotes the adoption of helping behavior and innovative behavior

This retrospective study proposed to describe nurses’ management of BPSD, using Algase's need-driven dementia-compromised (NDB) nursing model. Data from 38 file reviews demonstrated that the nurse practice of the mentoring team from Quebec's Center for Excellence in Aging achieved a high level of agreement with guideline recommendations for BPSD. Moreover, interventions by these nurses lowered the frequency and severity of BPSD significantly and in addition, the level of satisfaction among the caregivers and families was high. Finally, the findings of this study support Algase's proposals that nurses deal with the underlying causes of BPSD in order to lower its occurrence.

The objective of this thesis was to provide the partners with the choice of NTS, to define training scenarios and to provide a first proof of concept on a targeted population. According to the literature and interviews with expert scrub nurses, the NTS selected for the scenarios are situation awareness (SA) and speaking up. Study 1, carried out with 13 scrub nurses and 16 non-experts, aims to assess the acceptability of the environment with the "instrumentation table" scenario (under VR helmet). Study 2, involving 18 scrub nursing students and 8 scrub nurses during an in-service course, aims to develop situation awareness, using the "virtual operating room of errors" scenario (under VR helmet). This scenario enables SA to be assessed and seems a suitable training tool for this NTS. Finally, Study 3, involving 33 scrub nursing students, aims to develop speaking up with a tablet scenario. Our results partially confirm the effect of status on the probability of speaking up and show an effect of status on the discomfort of speaking up. Each study involved numerous exchanges with the project's VR engineers and scrub nursing teachers in order to allow the construction of the environment and its future integration into the scrub nursing school pedagogy. Finally, for each study, specific assessment tools were used and simulation sessions were developed according to recommendations with briefing, simulation, debriefing (HAS, 2012)

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis is based on the Social Representation theory. Starting with interviews of French nurses (N=29) and Gabonese nurses (N=23), we focused on the comparative social representations of both the profession of a nurse and the family. We then proceeded with a questionnaire composed of free association tasks, of a specific tool measuring the dominant type of practice and the SWING. 103 French nurses and 140 Gabonese nurses filled in this questionnaire. The results show a distinct representation of the profession according to the culture. The French nurses focus on the importance of the relationship that needs to be establishes with the patients, while the Gabonese nurses add to this the need for affection. The nurses were separated into contrasted groups according to the scores obtained both in terms of dominant practices 5technical or related to relations) and according to their life balance type. The social representation of the profession, which was studied for each of these contrasted groups, appears to be clearly different according to both variables. Moreover, in terms of the social representations of the family, a significant distinctions appears based on the two cultures: the French participants perceive the nuclear family, while the Gabonese participants combine the traditional family with the new model, close to the French nuclear one.Key words: Social Representations; Nurses; Life Balance; Healing; France; Gabon.Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne - Laboratoire EA 6291 - C2S -Bâtiment 13 Recherche - 57 rue Pierre Taittinger - 51100 REIMS

Повний текст джерелаWhen the doctors announce the diagnosis of cancer to a person suffering from the disease, this disturbing event leads to experience a series of thoughts concerning one’s existence, something that leads to death anxiety. Here where it comes the role of oncology nurses, who are in a key position to help reduce this difficult emotion. However, little is known about support interventions in nursing care for patients suffering from death anxiety. Moreover, there is, currently, no single instrument available in French to assess this painful emotion. Consequencely, the purpose of this correlational descriptive study is to explore associations between support interventions by oncology nurses and death anxiety among cancer patients. A preliminary phase is added in which three translators and five experts were involved in the Death and Dying Distress Scale (DADDS) translation and cross-cultural adaptation process. This process has produced the Death Distress Scale (DDS), which is pre-tested on five lung cancer patients. In the main phase of this study, 28 lung cancer patients were recruited from an outpatient clinic in a Quebec City hospital center. Nursing support interventions were measured by the Caring Nurse-Patient Interaction Scale – 70-item version – Patient (CNPI-70P). Correlation and polynomial regression analyzes were performed. The DDS has a good internal consistency (α = .86). The trust and support relationship is the main predictor of death anxiety (F (2, 23) = 5.31, p = .01). A second-degree polynomial model shows that the relationship between these two variables produces a convex parabola : these relationship support interventions lead to a decrease in death anxiety, but beyond a certain frequency they produce the opposite effect.

Повний текст джерелаIn the french context of nursing care teaching, this thesis aims at conceiving nursing as a process of mediation and communication notably between especially patients and care givers. The identified communication process involving values, self-identification and representation help to build up and express the caring professionalism. The background documents are organized from 5 types of data which are media focuses, caring acts, professional situation reports, life stories and monographs. These data allow the comprehension of the communication items which are used in the health care context, also the effects of the observed practice meanings and finally the care giver way of acting and relating. The carers build medical encounter and distance relationships. This is presented as the “world-body” concept. As part of the new care exercises and the nurse teaching evolution, the health care organizations are faced with strategic questionings. In order to answer those interrogations, the central concept of “communicating-care” is developed. This leads to define the care act as a meaningful and complex interaction system. This concept tries to formalize mediation areas which are specific to the building of a relevant and coherent caring professionalism as regards with looking at the new challenges in nurse care teaching
