Abstract Hefei Light Source II (HLS-II) is a vacuum ultraviolet synchrotron light source. The control system of HLS-II is a distributed system based on the experimental physics and industrial control system (EPICS). The alarm system of HLS-II is responsible for monitoring the alarm state of the facility and distributing the alarm message in time. It facilitates the operator to troubleshoot problem efficiently, so as to improve the availability of HLS-II. Phoebus/Alarms (Alarms) is the latest alarm software released in EPICS community. Based on Alarms, the alarm system of HLS-II is designed, developed and deployed. The alarm distribution strategy is designed from the perspective of the HLS-II operation mode, alarm severity and alarm representative to overcome alarm floods. The 3 ways to distribute the alarm message are added to the HLS-II alarm system, which include WeChat, SMS and web-based GUI. In order to configure alarm options efficiently and conveniently, an alarm configuration management tool is developed based on the MySQL database and Browser/Server architecture. The alarm system of HLS-II has been deployed since November 2021. The result indicates that the alarm system is effective and convenient to operate.

Industries in general need a reliable system for fault identification and alarm management. The high incidence of alarms can overload the operator, exposing him to conditions that may exceed their ability to perform effective actions, impairing his performance during his workday. In this context, the present paper proposes an approach for alarms rationalization based on process mining techniques. The alarm rationalization is in accordance to the alarm lifecycle management model suggested by ANSI / ISA-18 standard. The aim of this paper is to improve the alarm system through its rationalization, allowing an adequate organization and data layout of the whole set of alarms. Thus, it is expected a better interpretation and understanding of the industrial process. Performance metrics recommended by ANSI / ISA-18 standard are used. Such metrics are used for analyzing a database of alarms coming from an industrial plant. Preliminaries results have demonstrated the feasibility of the present approach. The results show that the use of the process mining technique can provide support on rationalization alarms, standing for a promising method in alarm management domain.

The issues of ensuring fire safety of industrial enterprises using automatic fire alarm systems is discussed in the article. The foreign and Russian experience of conducting assessment of the efficiency of automatic fire alarm systems is analyzed. Despite the improvement of the regulatory framework for automatic fire alarm systems, the creation of new devices and technologies for detecting fire hazards, the problem of improving the reliability of automatic fire alarm systems actuation remains relevant. Using the statistical data of the federal state information system «Federal data bank «Fires», the calculations were made of the efficiency of automatic fire alarm system actuation at the industrial facilities from 2016 to 2020. Various types of industrial objects are considered: industrial buildings; warehouse buildings (structures); buildings, industrial installations. Calculations of the efficiency of automatic fire alarm systems are based on determining the number of cases of implementation of various modes of its operation. The social and material consequences of fires are investigated considering actuation of the automatic fire alarm systems. When calculating the efficiency of automatic fire alarm systems, the belonging of production facilities to a certain type of property, risk category and branch of industry is considered. Studies showed that the highest efficiency is characteristic of production facilities that are in the federal ownership (90.9 %) and grows up with an increase in the risk category of the object of protection. Thus, for industrial facilities assigned to the category of high risk, the efficiency of automatic fire alarm system actuation for the period from 2016 to 2020 is 92.3 %. By the type of industry, the lowest efficiency of automatic fire alarm system actuation is observed at the fuel industry (62 %), as well as at the construction and shipbuilding enterprises (75 %).

In industrial practice, excessive alarms and high alarm rates are mostly generated from unreasonable settings to variable alarm thresholds, which have become the significant causes of impact on operation stability and plant safety. A correlation degree and clustering analysis-based approach was presented to optimize the variable alarm thresholds in this paper. The correlation degrees of variables are first obtained by analyzing correlation relationships among them. Second, the variables are grouped according to the gray correlation coefficients and clustering analysis, given the weight for fault alarm rate (FAR) in each group. An objective function about the FAR, missed alarm rate (MAR), and the maximum acceptable FAR and MAR is then established with variable weight. Eventually, based on an optimization algorithm, the objective function can be optimized for obtaining the optimal alarm threshold. Cases study of the Tennessee Eastman (TE) industrial simulation process and an actual industrial ethylene production process, in comparison to the initial situation, show that the method can effectively reduce FAR according to correlation degrees among variables in the system, and decrease the number of alarms with reduction rates of 40.5% and 35.3%, respectively.

In the United States, forklift accidents account for one in every six workplace fatalities (Bostelman and Shackleford, 2010). Backup warning devices such as tonal alarms and blue safety lights are commonly used to alert pedestrians of approaching forklifts. The purpose of this research is to identify worker’s perception on the effectiveness of two configurations of backup alarm systems: the level of nuisance perceived of these systems; and the importance of having a forward motion warning system. Results of this study indicate no statistically significant differences in the level of satisfaction between facilities using tonal backup alarms and facilities that use both tonal backup alarms along with blue safety lights. Additionally, results of this study indicate that the majority of the pedestrians and forklift operators sampled are in favor of having forward motion warning devices installed on forklifts.

In automated plants, particularly in the petrochemical, energy, and chemical industries, the combined management of all of the incidents that can produce a catastrophic accident is required. In order to do this, an alarm management methodology can be formulated as a discrete event sequence recognition problem, in which time patterns are used to identify the safe condition of the process, especially in the start-up and shutdown stages. In this paper, a new layer of protection (a Super-Alarm), based on the diagnostic stage to industrial processes is presented. The alarms and actions of the standard operating procedures are considered to be discrete events involved in sequences; the diagnostic stage corresponds to the recognition of the situation when these sequences occur. This provides operators with pertinent information about the normal or abnormal situations induced by the flow of the alarms. Chronicles Based Alarm Management (CBAM) is the methodology used in this document to build the chronicles that will permit us to generate the Super-Alarms; in addition, a case study of the petrochemical sector using CBAM is presented in order to build one chronicle that represents the scenario of an abnormal start-up of an oil transport system. Finally, the scenario’s validation for this case is performed, showing the way in which, a Super-Alarm is generated.

Improving the safety of human life is one of the main tasks of scientific and technological progress. A dangerous situation occurs when a person is in a dangerous area, i.e. in a space where constantly, periodically, or occasionally there are situations caused by factors that lead to gradual or instantaneous damage to human health. Fire is one of these situations. The safety of technical systems is solidly linked to their reliability. In firefighting automation, the main purpose of calculating reliability is to determine the probability of failure-free operation of the equipment of the system. The value obtained is subsequently used to calculate individual fire risk. To ensure technical safety, it is a universal practice to use system approach and system analysis, which allows us to consider technical security as a system. One of the specific characters of determining the reliability of computer-aided systems is the difference between the reliability indicators of the main elements of the system and the automation system as a whole. The more complex the system, the less reliable it is. The article considers the main problems leading to the efficiency loss of particular items of equipment included in the technical safety systems and formulates the tasks and methods for their reliability assessment. The research features the fire safety system of an industrial building, which includes an automatic fire alarm system and a warning and evacuation system. The paper contains an example of calculating the reliability for an automatic fire alarm system. The authors propose some ways of improving the existing system. The results are processed and presented by the main indicators of system reliability, which are the failure rate and the failure-free operation probability for particular items of equipment and the system as a whole. The research revealed that a manual detector, used as a standby item in the system of thermal and smoke fire detectors, makes it possible to reduce the failure rate of the system and increase the average time of failure-free operation. Thus, it improves the indicators of the system reliability and increases the safety of industrial buildings.

Within the exploitation of the automated production systems (APS) framework, supervision and monitoring take the dependability into account. In order to reach these objectives, a method is being developed at the Laboratoire d'Automatique et d'Informatique Industrielle de Lille in a supervision and monitoring framework. The main functions are detection, diagnosis, modes management and faults recovery. This paper focuses on two kinds of modelling: functional modelling and behavioural modelling. On the one hand, these models are used to implement the diagnosis and the modes management functions. On the other hand, the complementarity of these models enables them to be used within the alarm processing system framework. Indeed, the design of intelligent alarm processing systems (IAPS) is a critical problem. One common problem is the number of alarms that operators have to manage. This paper focuses on the problem of the management of avalanches of alarms after the occurrence of failures in a complex process. To deal with this problem, different types of alarm are defined from the functional and behavioural modelling of the process to be surveyed. Filtering rules, based on the concepts of validation and inhibition, are also proposed.

The automatic analysing station located just downstream of the Basel urban area at Huningue, consists of an alarm station linking the automatic detection of certain important pollution parameters (T.O.C., hydrocarbons, heavy metals, pesticides, etc.). and the resulting alarms, to a working mathematical model of pollutant plume propagation, operating on the river between Basel and Strasbourg. This model is keyed to the real flow conditions of the Rhine, determined by life-size tracing operations (using coloured Rhodamine marker). A decisive factor in speeding up the transmission of alarm signals, this system allows, among other things, optimum management of the valves and locks communicating with the Rhine, in order to avoid the penetration of the pollutants into the ramifications of the hydrographic network feeding the groundwater table in Alsace. The alarm station put into service on the Rhine can look back on 10 years experience in the struggle against accidental pollutions which primarily occurred in the Paris area. There, an important alarm network consisting of eight automatic analysing stations was set up on the rivers Seine, Marne and Oise to protect the most important drinking water supply of France which provides water to more than 4 million inhabitants.

Alarm management is an important task to ensure the safety of industrial process technologies. A well-designed alarm system can reduce the workload of operators parallel with the support of the production, which is in line with the approach of Industry 5.0. Using Process Mining tools to explore the operator-related event scenarios requires a goal-oriented log file format that contains the start and the end of the alarms along with the triggered operator actions. The key contribution of the work is that a method is presented that transforms the historical event data of control systems into goal-oriented log files used as inputs of process mining algorithms. The applicability of the proposed process mining-based method is presented concerning the analysis of a hydrofluoric acid alkylation plant. The detailed application examples illustrate how the extracted process models can be interpreted and utilized. The results confirm that applying the tools of process mining in alarm management requires a goal-oriented log-file design.

The purpose of this study is to achieve real-time acquisition and monitoring of temperature in large-scale industrial or agricultural production scene, and timely detect abnormal temperature. FPGA chip, multi temperature sensor and alarm control module three parts consist of FPGA alarm system obtained based on multi temperature sensor. Multi temperature sensor is used for the acquisition of relevant temperature signal in the production site, and the transmission of the collected data through the way of digital signal chip to the FPGA chip for further processing. The FPGA chip is responsible for the parameter setting, the temperature signal acquisition and the threshold comparison and so on, and according to the data processing result, it can send out the normal response control signal to the alarm module. The alarm module contains the pre-warning lights and the alarm device that it can receive the control signal and realize alarm response. The results showed that the test in planting flowers in greenhouse showed that the system is sensitive in response and small in error of temperature acquisition, in accordance with the requirements for use. As a result, the system can be widely used in the temperature monitoring in the production scene, suitable for being promoted in a variety of occasions needing for monitoring the temperature.

This paper analyzes the feasibility of the coexistence of telemetry and alarm messages employing Long-Range Wide-Area Network (LoRaWAN) technology in industrial environments. The regular telemetry messages come from periodic measurements from the majority of sensors while the alarm messages come from sensors whose transmissions are triggered by rarer (random) events that require highly reliable communication. To reach such a strict requirement, we propose here strategies of allocation of spreading factor, by treating alarm and regular (telemetry) messages differently. The potential of such allocation strategies has also been investigated under retransmission and diversity of gateways. Both indoor industrial plant and open-field scenarios are investigated. We compare the proposed solution with a benchmark scenario—where no alarm is considered—by using system level simulation. Our results show that it is possible to achieve high reliability with reasonably low delay for the alarm messages without significantly affecting the performance of the regular links.

This paper introduces the IP network video monitoring system for monitoring and management of industrial field. All the signals in this monitoring system are transmitted through the network, without additional wiring. It not only can transmit images, alarm information, also the focus of a number of functions, such as remote monitoring, video playback, query system settings and user management. The system overall design principle, structural design, functional requirements, the main function module design are described. Through the monitoring system, managers can whenever and wherever real-time monitoring equipment working state, remote access management, provide a full range of decision support for production.

Video-based fire detection (VFD) technologies have received significant attention from both academic and industrial communities recently. However, existing VFD approaches are still susceptible to false alarms due to changes in illumination, camera noise, variability of shape, motion, colour, irregular patterns of smoke and flames, modelling and training inaccuracies. Hence, this work aimed at developing a VSD system that will have a high detection rate, low false-alarm rate and short response time. Moving blocks in video frames were segmented and analysed in HSI colour space, and wavelet energy analysis of the smoke candidate blocks was performed. In addition, Dynamic texture descriptors were obtained using Weber Local Descriptor in Three Orthogonal Planes (WLD-TOP). These features were combined and used as inputs to Support Vector Classifier with radial based kernel function, while post-processing stage employs temporal image filtering to reduce false alarm. The algorithm was implemented in MATLAB 8.1.0.604 (R2013a). Accuracy of 99.30%, detection rate of 99.28% and false alarm rate of 0.65% were obtained when tested with some online videos. The output of this work would find applications in early fire detection systems and other applications such as robot vision and automated inspection.

Many successful applications for the online monitoring of the insulation condition for electric power transformers have been reported over last thirty years. However, false or unsolved alarms have been quite frequently generated by those condition monitoring systems. Failures and some occasionally catastrophic accidents involving transformers have still occurred. A highly reliable insulation condition online monitoring and real-time alarm system has been developed, to help resolve these problems. An electric power transformer has strongly linked mechanical, electrical, magnetic, chemical and thermal characteristics, and is also directly linked to circuit breakers and generators. Team Intelligence (TI) was employed to integrate all the monitoring modules of the various different aspects of the transformer into one unique system. This system could also be integrate with the condition monitoring systems of various linked facilities, such as the monitoring systems of the turbine and the generator in a Optimal Maintenance Information System for Hydropower Plant (HOMIS). Highly reliable monitoring and real-time alarms of transformer insulation condition could be achieved, due to highly coordinated and rapid response features. This system has been deployed in several hydropower plants. The industrial application examples are demonstrated.

Water supplies to the Syndicat des Eaux d'Ile de France (Ile de France Water Board) subscribers are provided by Compagnie Generale des Eaux using treated water from three rivers (Seine, Marne, Oise). These rivers cross densely populated, industrial areas and so are exposed to quite significant pollution hazards. The guarantee of safe supplies involves a monitoring and alarm policy that will enable the various emergency measures provided in water works and pipe networks to be initiated in good time. The methodology of this system is based on the follwing steps:–compilation of accidental pollution history;–inventory of hazardous sites;–study of treatment process response;–location and choice of parameters for the automatic analyzing stations. A detailed description of this course of action is given in respect of the river Marne which supplies raw water to one of the three main Syndicat des Eaux d'Ile de France plants.

This paper describes an intelligent alarm processing expert system which is integrated in a large Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system for power distribution networks. The expert system works as an operator support tool by diagnosing network disturbances and device malfunctions. The expert system is based on a hierarchic, multi-level problem-solving architecture, integrating both model-based and heuristic techniques acting upon an object-oriented data structure. Several enhancements have been designed and implemented to enable the system to perform its task online and real-time. The expert system covers online processing of real-time data and intelligent alarm processing, as well as the automatic creation and update of the knowledge base. It consists of approximately 25000 objects (units) and 190 rules. The system uses the expert system tool KEE, runs on SUN workstations, and is integrated in the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system via LAN. The expert system was implemented for the Public Utilities Board Singapore controlling its 22 kV distribution network and has been online since November 1990.

Abstract: Gas leakages are a hazardous threat to living beings present in the vicinity and cause serious health issues when exposed. Employees need to constantly monitor the situation and if any leak occurs he/she needs to make the right decisions which sometimes may be prone to error. A system needs to be created that bypasses human intervention and constantly monitors around the clock. The input to the system is given by a sensor whose sensitivity depends on the gas it needs to detect. The concentration of the gas is directly proportional to the voltage output. On receiving the information, a microcontroller operates an alarm, monitoring system and displays the output with the help of LCD, LEDs. An Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure is created in such a way that people, who are connected to the same Wi-Fi, will get a message and authorities present outside the organization will get an email via a cloud-based applet wherein officials can monitor using data analytics platform from a safe location via the internet. Officials will be able to monitor all the areas placed with a sensor on a single dashboard. From the dashboard, the data is received by a microcontroller which then initiates the sprinkler system. The microcontroller, present at the leak, operates a solenoid valve thereby directing the sterilizing agent at the site of the leak. Introduction. The fire safety of the protected object is determined by the possibility of reliable fire detection. Insufficiently effective operation of the fire alarm system can lead to the death of people, unacceptable material and other damage. The video surveillance system, being one of the main links of the engineering security system, monitors emergency situations in real time and, in particular, a breakout of fire at the protected object. Goals and objectives. The purpose of the article is to analyze the state and trends in the development of video surveillance equipment aimed at improving the fire safety of protected objects. Tasks include regulatory justification of the use of video surveillance in fire alarm systems, review of methods of fire detection by video surveillance and improving their effectiveness under the influence of interfering factors, as well as evaluation of the effectiveness of video surveillance in fire protection systems. Methods. The methods of the system analysis and probability theory are used. Results and discussion. The requirements of regulatory documents for detectors with a video detection channel for their effective operation in fire alarm systems are considered. The main directions of development of means and methods of application of video surveillance in fire protection systems are defined. It is shown that reducing the risk of non-detection of fire to an acceptable level can be achieved by increasing the probability of effective operation of the fire alarm system, as well as by increasing the positive impact of the video surveillance system, which is a part of the complex security system of the object. Conclusions. Video surveillance significantly increases the efficiency of fire detection. It allows you to get a visual picture of the state of the protected object, which has such a high information content that no other security means can provide. The use of video surveillance equipment in fire alarm systems, as well as their integration with industrial and fire automation systems is one of the main reserves for increasing the fire safety of facilities. Wind energy is one of the most relevant renewable energy. A proper wind turbine maintenance management is required to ensure continuous operation and optimized maintenance costs. Larger wind turbines are being installed and they require new monitoring systems to ensure optimization, reliability and availability. Advanced analytics are employed to analyze the data and reduce false alarms, avoiding unplanned downtimes and increasing costs. Supervisory control and data acquisition system determines the condition of the wind turbine providing large dataset with different signals and alarms. This paper presents a new approach combining statistical analysis and advanced algorithm for signal processing, fault detection and diagnosis. Principal component analysis and artificial neural networks are employed to evaluate the signals and detect the alarm activation pattern. The dataset has been reduced by 93% and the performance of the neural network is incremented by 1000% in comparison with the performance of original dataset without filtering process.

Fundamental ecological principles of ecosystem-level respiration are extensively applied in greenhouse gas and elemental cycle studies. A laboratory system termed CEMS (Carbon Dioxide Evolution Measurement System), developed to explore microbial biofilm growth and metabolic responses, was evaluated as an early-warning system for microbial disturbances in industrial settings: in (a) potable water system contamination, and (b) bioreactor inhibition. Respiration was detected as CO2 production, rather than O2 consumption, including aerobic and anaerobic metabolism. Design, thresholds, and benefits of the remote CO2 monitoring technology were described. Headspace CO2 correlated with contamination levels, as well as chemical (R2 > 0.83–0.96) and microbiological water quality indicators (R2 > 0.78–0.88). Detection thresholds were limiting factors in monitoring drinking water to national and international standards (0 CFU/100 mL fecal coliforms) in both open- (>1500 CFU/mL) and closed-loop CO2 measuring regimes (>100 CFU/100 mL). However, closed-loop detection thresholds allow for the detection of significant contamination events, and monitoring less stringent systems such as irrigation water (<100 CFU/mL). Whole-system respiration was effectively harnessed as an early-warning system in bioreactor performance monitoring. Models were used to deconvolute biological CO2 fluctuations from chemical CO2 dynamics, to optimize this real-time, sustainable, low-waste technology, facilitating timeous responses to biological disturbances in bioreactors.

This paper proposes a video-based smoke detection technique for early warning in antifire surveillance systems. The algorithm is developed to detect the smoke behavior in a restricted video surveillance environment, both indoor (e.g., railway carriage, bus wagon, industrial plant, or home/office) or outdoor (e.g., storage area or parking area). The proposed technique exploits a Kalman estimator, color analysis, image segmentation, blob labeling, geometrical features analysis, and M of N decisor, in order to extract an alarm signal within a strict real-time deadline. This new technique requires just a few seconds to detect fire smoke, and it is 15 times faster compared to the requirements of fire-alarm standards for industrial or transport systems, e.g., the EN50155 standard for onboard train fire-alarm systems. Indeed, the EN50155 considers a response time of at least 60 s for onboard systems. The proposed technique has been tested and compared with state-of-art systems using the open access Firesense dataset developed as an output of a European FP7 project, including several fire/smoke indoor and outdoor scenes. There is an improvement of all the detection metrics (recall, accuracy, F1 score, precision, etc.) when comparing Advanced Video SmokE Detection (AdViSED) with other video-based antifire works recently proposed in literature. The proposed technique is flexible in terms of input camera type and frame size and rate and has been implemented on a low-cost embedded platform to develop a distributed antifire system accessible via web browser.

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to develop a robotic training system for the hand movements during manual welding. The system provides real-time notice-feedback with sound or light alarms, whenever the welding hand vibrates beyond the nominal level observed with professional welders. Design/methodology/approach – The large variations of hand movements are detected by monitoring the deviation of the tool position from a smooth curve estimated in real time by a Kalman filter. An alarm is generated in the form of a flashing light or beep sound whenever the deviations exceed a predetermined threshold. The performance of hand movements is measured in terms of the variations of the position data. Twelve novice and five professional welders took part in the experiments and answered a questionnaire that assessed the usability and work load of the system. Findings – Compared to the sound alarms, the light alarms resulted in a larger and statistically significant decrease in the variation of hand movements of the novice welders and brought the level of variation close to that of the professional welders. The alarms did not result in a significant decrease in the variation of hand movements of the professional welders. The responses to the questionnaire indicated that both professional and novice welders found the system useful and they did not experience any significant work load. Social implications – The system developed in this study can ease the training of novice welders, by speeding up the learning and reducing the need for human tutors. Originality/value – This study is first to provide real-time notice-feedback for training while manual welding, based on a comparison of the performances of novice and professional welders.

A real-time and high precision ultrasonic ranging method is proposed here. Ultrasonic ranging system based on MCU was established, which is composed of MCU, ultrasonic sending and receiving circuit, temperature compensate circuit, alarm, key and display circuit. Counting pulse method was used to measure the ultrasonic transmission time, and then the distance is calculated. In order to improve the ranging accuracy, temperature compensation was used in this system. Preliminary experiment showed that the system meet the requirements. This system has advantages such as low price, small volume, reliable operation, high accuracy, and can be employed in car backing, obstacle avoiding of robots, industrial logging, reservoir level measuring etc.

The touch screen is configured by EV5000 Configuration software, to complete the dynamic process monitoring of MPS system module, and improve the monitoring software so that it will have a simple user login management, production management, production information display and alarm functions.

Protection of human health and the environment is ensured at the local level by the local safety system. Major accidents typically have an off-site impact that also affects the general public. The most significant asymmetric event is when toxic substances are release into a populated area following a major accident. Early warning systems can significantly reduce the harmful consequences of major accidents that may occur. The operation of a reliable and effective chemical monitoring and public alarm system can be used as a basic device of defence. This ultimately means restoring the symmetry of the local safety system. It was an important scientific objective in Hungary to identify the facilities endangering the population where it is necessary to install chemical monitoring and early warning external protection systems. In this context, the main objective of this study was to present dangerous plant identification methodology and to analyse and evaluate the results of the application of this methodology.

This paper aims at diagnosing the fault of rolling bearings and establishes the system of dynamics model with the consideration of rolling bearing with nonlinear bearing force, the radial clearance, and other nonlinear factors, using Runge-Kutla such as Hertzian elastic contactforce and internal radial clearance, which are solved by the Runge-Kutta method. Using simulated data of the normal state, a self-adaptive alarm method for bearing condition based on one-class support vector machine is proposed. Test samples were diagnosed with a recognition accuracy over 90%. The present method is further applied to the vibration monitoring of rolling bearings. The alarms under the actual abnormal condition meet the demand of bearings monitoring.

<p><span>The design of a supervision system based on the external model by structuring the industrial process according to several modes of operation (degraded and normal). The disadvantage of this model is that it describes the industrial process components as functions regardless of their dynamics without going into detail. Hence the interest of the bond graph model to fill the external model limits. The performance of the proposed supervisory system using both models lies in the detection and location of faults for each mode of operation. The bond graph model enriched by the concept of causality and thanks to these structural properties can clearly display the elements of the physical system taking into account their dynamics in normal and abnormal operation. The results of our research have been applied to central air conditioning system; the development of the proposed project has proceeded from the modeling stage to the reconfiguration stage of the system.</span></p>

A simple UV spectrophotometric procedure is proposed for the survey of an industrial sewage system. Simple, fast and reliable, this technique has been first designed for natural and waste water. It is based on the assumption that any UV spectrum of a sample can be decomposed by using a set of reference spectra. The main application is the determination of specific compounds such as nitrate or anionic surfactants (expressed as DBS) or the estimation of global parameters such as COD, TOC or TSS. Another interest can be found in process control or alarm detection. Based on the UV light absorption by all unsaturated compounds and particularly anthropogenic organic matter, the method is obviously limited by the nature of organics. So, its use for industrial application needs a good knowledge of wastewater composition -and variation- for the choice of the dedicated spectra library. This paper will present the industrial application of UV spectrophotometry including the methods for the definition of the spectra libraries. Its application in the wastewater survey of a large petrochemical site, located in the South of France, is also presented.

Finaly the system is expected to have several functions as follow : Automatic opening door using fingerprint detection, automatic opening door using GSM command, automatic opening door using push button for inside command, automatic opening door using passcode, automatic closing door after door is fully opened with no movement and send the notification by GSM. By Implementing this system, it will be easier to lock the door and activate the alarm from a considerable distance.

Анотація:
This paper presents an industrial monitoring system design using the Internet of Things (IoT). The gas sensor (MQ-5) captured information is posted into a data cloud. The sensor detects the leakage of gas under most atmospheric conditions. All the components are controlled by an Arduino (UNO-1) that acts as a central processor unit in the setup t. As soon as a gas leakage is detected by the sensor, the alarm is raised in the form of a buzzer. This alarm is supported by an LCD to display the location of leakage, alert the observer, and activate the exhaust fan in the particular section to extract leaked gas. The requirement of a gas detection system is not only to monitor continuously the surroundings but also to help prevent the gas leakage hence minimizing the chances of fire and damage.

ABSTRACT This paper discusses the development of an oil spill detection and alarm system that provides industry with a reliable, cost-saving mechanism for containing and/or preventing accidental discharges of hydrocarbon-based pollutants. By utilizing an automated spill detection system, hydrocarbon releases are detected in real-time (analogous to a ‘smoke alarm’ for oil spills). Early warning and automated response capabilities allows early containment of oil pollution, thereby reducing the volume spilled and minimizing damage to the environment, wildlife, public waterways and/or commercial assets. This technology provides a new weapon in the pollution prevention arsenal, offering Health Safety & Environment (HSE) personnel a critical compliance tool in accordance with National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), US EPA Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC), and other regulations stipulating spill prevention, planning and response. This paper details: 1) Development of a reliable, economical, optical, non contact, UV/fluorometry-type, hydrocarbon pollution detection sensor system 2) Performance results drawn from an array of performance tests and real-world deployments, 3) A variety of existing applications and deployment opportunities for which this new technology offers a reliable solution and easy-to-use tool for both regulatory compliance and realization of cost benefits associated with minimizing spill risk(s). Design features have evolved to reflect feedback from existing industrial users, as well as input from environmental consultants and regulatory agencies. These key system attributes include: 1) Near-zero maintenance, 2) Micron- level sensitivity for a comprehensive range of oils (from crude-oil to jet-A), and 3) Sensor/system flexibility and adaptability for varied application requirements and a wide range of installation settings (i.e. freshwater, marine, industrial, harbor, offshore, etc.). Finally this paper describes how any entity that produces, stores, uses, or transports hydrocarbons, can best employ the detection sensor/alarm to realize cost-benefits, strengthen compliance, and eliminate the expense, environmental damage, and bad publicity inherent with any oil spill.

BIT is a new technology about the system test, fault diagnosing and separating. It is more important in the design for the reliability and main tainability of system. The key technique, such as the fault tree and equation, the test location, the test signal picking and generating, the fault distinguish rule, the design of preventing error alarm and BIT software. The result showed that the key technology is useful, and the reliability, maintainability and ability of management to fault can be increased by means of BIT. The debugging of system becomes convenient. The method can be used in the system of intelligent-in-strument and industrial control computer.

In order to well lubricate the industrial machine and decrease the consumption of lubricating oil, it is necessary to develop a system to monitor and control the density of oil mist. This paper introduces such a system based on LPC2214 of ARM7. The system can monitor 10 parameters, give an alarm to the status of factors which affect the quality of the oil mist and store the relative information into high capacity SD card through I2C bus and SPI bus. All the status information can be shown on LCD so that the operator can realize the system in real-time. System supplies input interface which can set some parameters and display other information on LCD, including history status information of system.Keywords: LPC2214, Oil mist, SD card, LCD
