Tawangmangu tangerine (Citrus reticulate Blanco subsp. tawangmangu) is one of prime local fruit from Tawangmangu region, Karanganyar, Central Java. This tangerine have good appearance, easy to peeled, sweet flavored fruit, and high production rate. However at 1984 Tawangmangu tangerine run into depreciation of population caused by CVPD (Citrus Vein Phloem Degeneration). As a result, this variety listed as endangeredThe effort of consevation by culture tissue technique can order to obtain prime seeds that free from virus or disease. This study was aimed to understand the effect of IBA and BAP in culture medium on growth of apical and lateral shoot of Tawangmangu tangerine. The treatment provided were IBA (0 ppm, 0.5 ppm, and 1 ppm) and BAP (0 ppm, 1 ppm and 2 ppm). The treatment in this research was using complete randomized factorial design in 9 different treatment. This research resulted that added combination of IBA and BAP affecting growth of Tawangmangu tangerine but the interaction of IBA and BAP did not happen. The highest shoot length occurs on treatment IBA 1 ppm+BAP 2 ppm while when the fastest shoot appears occurs on treatment IBA 0 ppm+ BAP 2 ppm and the highest shoot formed on treatment IBA 0.5 ppm+BAP 2 ppm. Benefit of the research Efforts to conserve Tawangmangu orange plants need to be done to maintain the diversity of germplasm and support the cultivation in a manner. One technique that can support the conservation of plants is by tissue culture techniques.

The focus-selected c-src overexpressed cells had altered morphology and limited growth in soft agarose but were not tumorigenic in vivo. Cleveland digests, comparative in vitro kinase assays, secondary transfections, and immunoprecipitations indicated that focus formation was caused by rare transfection events that resulted in very high-level pp60c-src expression rather than by mutations of the transfected c-src genes. These results suggest that pp60v-src induced transformation is not a completely spurious activity which is unrelated to the function of pp60c-src but that it represents a perturbation of already existent molecular control processes involving pp60c-src.

The Islamic Financial Services Act (IFSA) 2013 is a Malaysian banking law which was enacted to regulate and supervise the banking practices of Islamic finance institutions. IFSA 2013 has the effect of repealing the Islamic Banking Act 1983 (IBA), the Takaful Act 1984, the Payment System Act 2003 and the Exchange Control Act 1953. Prior to the introduction of IFSA 2013 there was no clear distinction between deposit and investment accounts. The IFSA 2013 re-defines Islamic deposit, and classifies investment accounts as non-principal guaranteed while deposit account as principal guaranteed. The objective of this paper is thus to explore implications of IFSA 2013 on investment accounts from the perspective of the banker. Future research could explore the perspective of account holders looking at their views on investment accounts and IFSA 2013.

Experiments have been carried out on vegetative multiplication of <em>Cyathea australis</em>. Cultures were initiated from spores collected from sporangium of mature fronds. Spores were sterilized in 3% chloramine with Tween and sown on Anderson (1984) medium supplemented with 80.0 mg/l of Ads and solidified by 8.0 g/l of agar. After three months of spore germination overgrowth of prothallia was observed. Multiplication of prothallia was stimulated by MS (1962) medium supplemented with 0.25 mg/l BAP, 0.50 mg/l IBA, 0.50 mg/l IAA, 1.00 mg/l GA<sub>3</sub>, 40.00 mg/l Ads and sucrose 30.0 g/l. Small drops of water were placed on the basal part of gametophyte in order to help ovary fertilization. After the next few weeks the first very fragile, small and green crosier emerged from the base of gametophyte. Perlite culture stimulated root formation and plant hardening to soil conditions.

An efficient protocol for the rapid micropropagation of medicinally important Elephantopus scaber has been standardized using cotyledonary node explants. Direct multiple shoot induction was observed when the cotyledonary node explants at various age groups were cultured on MS medium supplemented with various plant growth regulators. The highest shoot induction was obtained when the cotyledonary node explants from 20-day-old seedlings were cultured on MS medium supplemented with 1.5 mg L-1 TDZ and 0.5 mg L-1 NAA. On this medium, 98% of the cultures responded, with an average number of 33.7 shoots per explant. The highest frequency of rooting (100%) and mean number of roots (3.3 per shoot) were observed when the shoots were transferred to MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mg L-1 IBA. The plantlets raised in vitro were acclimatized and transferred to soil with a 92% success rate. The protocol described here may be utilized for multiplication and conservation of elite clones of E. scaber.

The study describes the rooting effect of naphthenates and their fractions on in vitro grown Robinia pseudoacacia L. shoots. Natural naphthenic acids have been isolated by alkaline extraction from middle fraction of crude oil type ?Velebit? from Vojvodina, characterized and fractionated. Black locust shoot bases were immersed in ACM medium [Ahuja, 1984] without agar supplemented with either 10, 50 or 100 ?M of basic naphthenate preparation, naphthenate fractions obtained by extraction at different pHs (pH 2, pH 4, pH 7 and pH 9), or indole- 3-butyric acid (IBA). Treated shoots have been then grown on hormone-free medium for four weeks. Significant differences among test treatments were recorded during the third and the fourth week of in vitro cultivation. Final evaluation was performed on the basis of rooting percentage after four weeks of cultivation. The highest rooting percentage (>70%) was achieved after the treatment with solution containing 50 ?M of IBA. However, treatment with 10 ?M of naphthenate preparation achieved also positive effect on rooting (>60%). Average rooting percentage in the control treatment was just 45%. Our results with black locust confirm previous results gained with some other agricultural and forest tree species that naphthenates have the potential to stimulate rooting in shoots and cuttings.

The common method of propagation is through seeds but seed germination in Zanthoxylum armatum is very low due to the presence of hard seed coat, which might be a great hurdle for large scale production of plantlets. So an attempt was made in this study to see the effect of different growth hormones, their concentrations and different rooting media on the rooting and sprouting of Z. armatum. The stem cuttings of Z. armatum were treated with two types of auxins namely Indole-3-Butyric Acid (IBA) and Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA) at different concentrations (2000 ppm, 3000 ppm and 5000 ppm), while the untreated cuttings were used as control. The cuttings were planted in three different rooting media: sand, neopeat and mix (containing a mixture of sand, soil and vermin-compost). The completely randomized design was used for the experiment. The total number of stem cuttings of Z. armatum used in the experiment was 1080 for 18 treatments in three replicates (20 cuttings per treatment x 18 treatments x 3 replicates). The experiment was set up in controlled greenhouse conditions at Dabur Nepal Private Limited Nursery, Banepa, Kavre District. The parameters evaluated were root length, shoot length and number of roots per cutting. The collected data were analyzed statistically using R-program with Agricola. Least significant difference (LSD) and Duncan multiple Range Test (DMRT), as mean separation technique was applied to identify the most efficient treatment in the rooting and shooting behavior of Z. armatum (Gomez and Gomez, 1984). Hormone concentration and growth media significantly affected the rooting and shooting ability of Z. armatum stem cuttings. IBA was found to be more effective than NAA. Neopeat medium was better than sand and mix media. The highest number of roots (6.5) and root length (11.6 cm) were recorded under IBA 5000 ppm in neopeat medium.

ABSTRACT The objectives of the tests were to evaluate concentrations of indolebutyric acid (IBA) combined with different types of cuttings and grafting methods on the vegetative propagation of cajazeira-dejabuti (S. testudinis). The experiment with stem cuttings was conducted in a greenhouse with an intermittent misting system. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 5 x 6 factorial arrangement consisting of five cutting types: apical, medial, basal, stratified, and tanchan, and six IBA concentrations: 0, 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, and 5,000 mg kg-1, with four replications of ten cuttings. The experiment with the root cuttings followed a randomized block design composed of six IBA concentrations (0, 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, and 5,000 mg kg-1) with four replications, evaluating after 120 days the percentages of live, sprouted, rooted, and calloused cuttings, and the number and dry mass of roots and sprouts. Five grafting methods (chip budding, shield budding, cleft grafting, wedge grafting, and splice grafting) were tested by evaluating the graft success and sprouting percentages at 30 and 60 days after grafting, respectively. Statistical analyses were performed using the Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric test. The IBA concentrations of 0, 2,000, 3,000, and 5,000 mg kg-1 increased the number of sprouts in tanchan cuttings. The tanchan cuttings showed the highest survival and percentage of sprouts regardless of the IBA concentration. The IBA concentration of 2,200 mg kg-1 promotes higher rooting rates in root cuttings. Splice grafting provides higher graft success and sprouting rates.

The sexual propagation of Brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa Humb. & Bonpl.) is limited by several factors, including slow and irregular germination, unevenness in root and shoot emergence, and a strategy to overcome these limitations is vegetative propagation. The objective of this study is to evaluate the rooting of Brazil nut cuttings using different concentrations of indolebutyric acid (IBA) in a subirrigation system. The study adopted a completely randomized block design with five concentrations of IBA (0, 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 mg L-1). The donor plants of the vegetative material were obtained from seeds of trees selected as highly productive parent plants. Cuttings with approximately 6 cm were obtained from the basal and middle sections of the shoot and contained one pair of nodes and one fully developed leaf. The percentage of survival, callus formation, rooting, and sprouting was determined at 105 days after rooting. IBA improved the analyzed characteristics for the development of Brazil nut plants. The IBA concentration of 1000 mg L-1 provided the highest percentage of survival, rooting, and callus formation. Juvenile cuttings showed a higher rate of survival (69.7%), rooting (49.1%), and callus formation (30.2%) at IBA concentrations between 1.9 and 2.3 g L-1.

ABSTRACT Propagation by cuttings is an alternative for obtaining citrus rootstocks. The exogenous application of indolebutyric acid (IBA), cutting collection season and genotypes used may affect the rooting and vegetative growth of citrus rootstocks cuttings. Two experiments were conducted to study the influence of these factors. In the first one, semi-hardwood cuttings from the 'Sunki' mandarin hybrids H49 and H77 were collected in the fall and late spring of 2013 and treated with IBA (0 mg L-1, 1,500 mg L-1 and 3,000 mg L-1). For each collection season, a 2 x 3 (two genotypes x three IBA concentrations) factorial scheme was adopted, in a randomized blocks design. In the second experiment, the development of cuttings that rooted in the late spring was evaluated until grafting. In this case, a completely randomized experimental design was adopted, with the hybrids H49 and H77. The IBA treatments positively influenced rooting and number of roots only in the fall collection, peaking at 23.3 % of rooted cuttings. In the late spring collection, rooting was close to 100 %, with the IBA treatment being unnecessary. Around 50 % of cuttings from the 'Sunki' mandarin hybrids were ready for grafting at 14 months after cutting.

ABSTRACT One of the obstacles in the commercial cultivation of yellow mombin (Spondias mombin L.) is the difficulty in establishing a propagation protocol for the species. This study aimed to assess the effect of treating mother plants with ethephon and applying indolebutyric acid (IBA) to yellow mombin cuttings. A completely randomized design was used, consisting of nine treatments, with ethephon (0 mg L-1; 14.5 mg L-1; 50 mg L-1; 85.5 mg L-1; 100 mg L-1) and IBA (0 mg L-1; 872.35 mg L-1; 3,000 mg L-1; 5,127.65 mg L-1; 6,000 mg L-1) doses, combined according to the central compound box, with four replications. Each experimental unit consisted of 12 cuttings. The highest rooting percentages of yellow mombin cuttings were observed without the application of ethephon (45.83 %) in the matrix plants and with the use of 3,000 mg L-1 of IBA (31.94 %). For the rooting of yellow mombin cuttings, it is not recommended to use ethephon for treating the matrix plant before the cuttings are removed. The dose of 3,000 mg L-1 of IBA provides the maximum rooting of yellow mombin cuttings, being this dose the most recommended for the propagation via cutting.

The article presents a critical analysis of the legal ideology of Ivan Aleksandrovich Ilyin (1883–1954) on the material of his works “Our Tasks. Articles of 1948–1954”,“On the Monarchy and the Republic”,“The Way to Evidence”, “The Warming Heart”, etc. The legal ideology shared by this Russian jurist-philosopher is defined as right-wing orthodoxy. It is demonstrated that the legal system acquires the features of a system of legal or ideological types, depending on which secular or religious legal ideology prevails in it. If legislation and legal institutions serve any one secular or religious legal ideology of a radical nature, then the legal system becomes an ideological one. If this does not happen, then the legal system is legal in type. The legal system of an ideological type is formed in a state of a party type, and the legal system of a legal type is formed in a state of a legal type. The legal or party type of state depends on the type of political system of the society – a multi-structured one with a democratic political regime or a mono-structural type with a totalitarian political regime.

The easy availability of small aircraft for charter, has been accompanied by increasing willingness on the part of insurance companies to pay the costs for the use of these air ambulances. Operators of aircraft in the United Kingdom and Europe were becoming increasingly worried about the moral, medical and legal implications of carrying seriously ill or injured passengers. In late 1980 the UK Air Taxi Operators Association (ATOA) began to formulate Guidelines for air ambulance operations, and in 1981 these were incorporated into the studies of the same subject by the International Business Aircraft Association (IBAA), Europe. This paper presents the Guidelines adopted by the ATOA and ratified by IBAA Europe. The Guidelines are designed not to hamper the development of aeormedical rescue, but to bring it within a proper medical aeronautical framework for the safety of the patients, and medical and aircraft crews.During the last 30 years development of the international travel market in Europe has resulted in many patients becoming ill or suffering injuries many miles from their own home. In the past these people would have remained in a local hospital and received treatment by the locally available facilities. There has been a revolution in the technology of medical transport, providing skills and equipment which allows the most seriously injured people to be transported over long distances. The public demand has pressed insurance companies to offer as part of travel packages the possiblity of medical repatriation. The number of new serious medical cases abroad reported to Europ Assistance in London, rose from 736 in 1978 to a projected 3,500 in 1983.

A system of micropropagation has been developed for Epacris impressa Labill. (pink heath) (Epacridaceae), the floral emblem of Victoria, Australia. Only explants from glasshouse-grown plants treated with 1.2 g L–1 mancozeb were established successfully in vitro. Shoot material was very sensitive to surface-sterilisation, with 0.5% NaOCl for 5 min being optimal. Multiple shooting was induced optimally on Woody Plant Medium (WPM, Lloyd and McCown 1980) with 12–25 µM of the cytokinin 2iP (6-(γ,γ-dimethylallylamino) purine). Inclusion of the auxin IBA (indole-3-butyric acid) induced callus and reduced shooting. Rooting in vitro was greatest (up to 40%) with half-strength WPM and 16 µM IBA. Clones from individual plants varied in multiple shooting response to 2iP (0–49 µM) and root induction response to auxins (IBA and NAA (α-naphthaleneacetic acid), 0–43 µM). These results suggest that explant materials are the main determinant of success in in vitro propagation and that they require individual optimisation of treatments to maximise shoot and root formation.

ABSTRACT Venezuelan equine encephalitis viruses (VEEV) belonging to subtype IC have caused three (1962–1964, 1992–1993 and 1995) major equine epizootics and epidemics. Previous sequence analyses of a portion of the envelope glycoprotein gene demonstrated a high degree of conservation among isolates from the 1962–1964 and the 1995 outbreaks, as well as a 1983 interepizootic mosquito isolate from Panaquire, Venezuela. However, unlike subtype IAB VEEV that were used to prepare inactivated vaccines that probably initiated several outbreaks, subtype IC viruses have not been used for vaccine production and their conservation cannot be explained in this way. To characterize further subtype IC VEEV conservation and to evaluate potential sources of the 1995 outbreak, we sequenced the complete genomes of three isolates from the 1962–1964 outbreak, the 1983 Panaquire interepizootic isolate, and two isolates from 1995. The sequence of the Panaquire isolate, and that of virus isolated from a mouse brain antigen prepared from subtype IC strain P676 and used in the same laboratory, suggested that the Panaquire isolate represents a laboratory contaminant. Some authentic epizootic IC strains isolated 32 years apart showed a greater degree of sequence identity than did isolates from the same (1962–1964 or 1995) outbreak. If these viruses were circulating and replicating between 1964 and 1995, their rate of sequence evolution was at least 10-fold lower than that estimated during outbreaks or that of closely related enzootic VEEV strains that circulate continuously. Current understanding of alphavirus evolution is inconsistent with this conservation. This subtype IC VEEV conservation, combined with phylogenetic relationships, suggests the possibility that the 1995 outbreak was initiated by a laboratory strain.

Este artigo se debruça de forma panorâmica sobre a vida e a obra do arquiteto desde a época em que começou sua atividade docente na FAU-USP, marcada por momentos terríveis, como o afastado compulsório em 1968, uma prática contínua que se desenvolve até hoje, ministrando a disciplina de projeto. Trata-se de um arquiteto com uma longa vida profissional também, pois projeta desde os anos 1950. Engajou-se primeiro no IAB e também no SASP, do qual foi presidente (1978-1980).

Abstract The content of IAA in stem rust-infected susceptible wheat leaves shows a highly pronounced maximum 5-6 days after inoculation, shortly prior to the onset of sporulation. This auxin increase can not only be caused by a reduced degradation of IAA. Considerable amounts of IAA are also found in urediospores and germlings; the IAA is in part released by them into the germination medium. IAA applied exogenously to wheat leaves is channelled into two different degradation pathways: (a) into the peroxidase-catalysed decarboxylation which leads to indole-3-methanol and subsequent products as well as into (b) a non-decarboxylative path which leads to a number of oxindolic compounds. Furthermore, IAA conjugates such as IAAglc and IAAsp are formed. The formation of the products is characteristically dependent upon the concentration of the IAA applied. In rust fungus-infected wheat leaves, all IAA metabolites occur which are known in healthy leaves. The mode of their formation after “feeding” of radioactively-labelled IAA leads to the conclusion that the main part of the IAA in the infected leaves is present in a pool which does not permit a rapid exchange with the IAA taken up. The results lead to the hypothesis that IAA is present, to a major extent, in the structures of the fungus and is probably also produced by it.

Surat-Dangs, historically known as a Bhil State, is the northernmost tip of Western Ghats in the state of Gujarat. Despite being a part of an endemic bird area and global biodiversity hotspot, avifaunal diversity has been less documented in the landscape. Two protected areas, Purna Wildlife Sanctuary and Vansda National Park, are designated in the landscape. A handful of studies on birds have been conducted after Dr. Salim Ali’s collection in 1944–48. We surveyed the landscape (both protected and non-protected areas) in 2012–13 and 2015–2018 for documentation of the avifaunal diversity. We present a consolidated checklist of birds from our surveys as primary data and all published literature and eBird checklists as secondary data. We have reported a total of 297 bird species belonging to 70 families and 21 orders including the first record of Nilgiri Wood-Pigeon Columba elphinstonii for the State as well as Purna Wildlife Sanctuary. Here, we have re-reported various species, which was suspected to be locally extinct from the protected area or landscape among other noteworthy bird records. We have identified bird-rich localities outside the protected areas based on the survey done by Salim Ali (1944–48) that can be used for future surveys. We also propose the landscape to be declared as an Important Bird Area (IBA) as per Global IBA criteria (A1, A2, & A3), which will pave the milestone for future conservation endeavors in the landscape.

ABSTRACT Watermelon has great economic relevance, but edaphoclimatic factors and inadequate management have favored the salinization of the water used for irrigation, which is a limiting factor for the growth and production of the crop. However, it is considered that the use of growth regulators belonging to the group of cytokinins and auxins may contribute to the development and yield of crops, even under adverse conditions such as salinity. Thus, the objective was to evaluate the influence of cytokinin and auxin proportions on the growth and quality of watermelon irrigated with saline water. The experimental design was completely randomized, with four replicates and 5 x 2 factorial, referring to five proportions of growth regulators (0/100; 25/75; 50/50; 75/25 and 100/0%) corresponding to concentrations of 1.0 and 10.0 mg L−1 of forchlorfenuron (CPPU)/ indoleacetic acid (IAA), and two salinity levels, one composed of water without adding salt (0.3 dS m-1) and the other with 2.0 dS m−1 electrical conductivity. The proportions of cytokinin and auxin influenced the growth and quality of watermelon subjected to salinity in irrigation water. The 25/75% (CPPU/IAA) proportion favored smaller decreases in leaf area and total dry mass under a saline condition of 2.0 dS m−1. For fresh and dry fruit mass, the 75/25% (CPPU/IAA) proportion favored smaller reductions. Fruit firmness and soluble solids were favored by the proportions 25/75 and 50/50% (CPPU/IAA) at EC of 2.0 dS m−1. Acidity was only influenced by the proportion of 50/50% (CPPU/IAA) between the electrical conductivity levels.

There is a lot of literature related to the use of drones, including evidence in the Rawa Tripa-Aceh court, but the implementation of this policy needs to be explored specifically at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. This study aims to examine this. Data were collected through literature studies, interviews, and observations to be analyzed using a policy implementation framework (Grindle, 1980). The findings of the policy content are: the drone policy has positive benefits for validity and legality, as well as authority, but flying permits have the potential to be negative. The degree of change is quite good even though the registration of drones and drone pilots has not been carried out. In the implementation environment, it was found that the central level was quite responsive even though the work unit had not. Competency improvement has been carried out although it is limited to drone pilots. The drone pilot training materials have not met the certification requirements. Research recommendations are: need coordination in drone operation, need guidelines for using drones, need drone registration and drone pilot certification, need competency development designs for drone users and need additional aeronautical knowledge on drone pilot competency development

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the ability of diazotrophic bacteria isolated from Brachiaria brizantha rhizosphere to grow at different pH values and salt concentrations, to produce indoleacetic acid (IAA), and to solubilize phosphate. Both acidity and salinity tolerance tests were performed on modified solid FAM medium. Acidity resistance tests were performed at pH values of 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, and 7.0, while, salt resistance was evaluated at concentrations of 0.01, 5.02, 9.99, 14.96, 19.98, 24.95, 29.98, 34.94, 39.97, 44.94, and 49.96 gL-1 NaCl. For the IAA production assay, bacterial strains were cultivated in liquid DYGS medium both in the absence and presence of tryptophan (Trp). In addition, phosphorus solubilization assay was performed in GL liquid medium. All strains grew at every pH value tested, and a high diversity was observed after salt resistance, IAA production, and phosphate solubilization testing. Strains UNIFENAS 100-51, UNIFENAS 100-52, UNIFENAS 100-60, UNIFENAS 100-63, and UNIFENAS 100-65 were those with the best growth at the highest salt concentrations. Furthermore, in the presence of Trp, strains UNIFENAS 100-63 and UNIFENAS 100-69 were the ones with the highest IAA production. Strain UNIFENAS 100-52 showed the best response to the in vitro phosphate solubilization assay. Based on these results, it can be seen that studies related to the physiological and metabolic characteristics of diazotrophic bacterial strains are important to ensure greater success in the field.

Abstract Metal grains from a silicate inclusion in Landes, a group IAB iron-meteorite, were separated and analyzed via IN A A for 14 siderophile elements. The same 14 elements were determined in matrix metal from Landes, 5 other IAB meteorites and three anomalous iron meteorites. Compared to the other samples and to chondritic metal, the inclusion metal is enriched in siderophile elements. In chondritic metal, the siderophile element contents are higher when Fe0 is oxidized to FeO. Silicates in IAB inclusions contain little FeO, yet the metal is as rich in siderophile elements as the most oxidized chondrites.Evidently the IAB body contained its full cosmic complement of S resulting in an FeS content ~5 x that of ordinary chondrites. This explains the composition of the metal since sulfurization, like oxidation, reduces the available Fe0. IAB meteorites contain their full cosmic complement of other moderately volatile elements, which implies an equally high S content. A high S content significantly affects the melting and freezing of FeNi-metal. About 85% of the metal melts at the Fe-FeS eutectic (~960 °C), and all of the metal is molten at ~1050°C. During cooling, ~85% of the metal crystallizes with a Ni content of 6±1% between 1050°c and 960°C. Besides a small depletion in elements with low melting points or chalcophile tendencies this metal is little fractionated. Bellow 960 °C, the Ni content of the metal increases until the melt is exhausted. This Ni-rich metal also becomes progressively depleted in refractory elements and enriched in volatile elements. The crystallization process thus yields products that mimic the abundance and composition of group IAB meteorites.

The Cleveland Clinic has followed 1288 patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) (437 with mucosa! ulcerative colitis and 851 with Crohn's disease) from 1955 through 1984. Of the 437 patients with mucosal ulcerative colitis, the index patient had one or more family members develop IBD. These data indicate the need for the treating physician to institute case-finding questions within the family so that early diagnoses can be established. From 1975 through 1984, 94 patients had a positive family history and 63 had additional family members with disease. The highest risk group was the sibling-sibling group (6.4% in mucosa! ulcerative colitis and 8.3% in Crohn's disease). Both groups had similar percentages for all immediate family members; namely, 16.5% and 17.3%. In the group of patients reported from 1975 to 1984, the location of disease in the index patient and the immediate family member was the same in 67.5% and different in 30.0%. In this same group of patients, the disease similarity in the index patient and the immediate family member was the same in 86.8% and different in 12.0%. These data suggest that while genetic factors undoubtedly increase the susceptibility for IBD, there is no specific genetic pattern identified. Also, environmental and other factors may be present. The data also suggest that the age of onset is a factor, perhaps showing increased association with a positive family history.

Es decir, trataremos de determinar si aquella lectura de una de las principales obras de Flaubert tuvo algún tipo de influencia o efecto en el resultado final de la novela de García Márquez. En este sentido nos centraremos en cuatro aspectos concretos: la caracterización de Florentino Ariza, el título de la novela, el tratamiento del tiempo y el espacio, y la mezcla de ficción e historia.

"Starting with Chomsky (1965) the English Dative alternation has received a considerable amount of attention given the two accounts which have emerged: a non-derivational account (Kayne 1984, Pesetsky 1995, Harley 2002, Bruening 2010, 2018, Hallman 2015 i.a.) and a derivational account (Larson 1988, Larson and Harada 2006, Ormazabal and Romero 2010, MacDonald 2015 i.a.). Starting from this discussion, I show that the dative alternation has a morpho-syntactic dimension which can be illustrated at the level of idiomatic expressions. Because idioms are considered fixed structures, the paper aims at investigating whether to-dative idioms can occur in both ditransitive syntactic frames. The investigation will show that idioms are fully compositional structures in line with Larson (2017) and they can occur in alternating ditransitive frames, contrary to what has been previously discussed."

<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> The Semiology of Graphics of French cartographer J. Bertin is not only a seminal work on maps design, it contains also very useful sets of rules and insights that apply to graphics (BERTIN, 1970, 1973, 1987, 2005; DHIEB, 2018). Even though the visual variables are considered by cartographers as one of the most principal discoveries of the book (DE GOLBERY et al., (1996; PALSKY, 2017;), Bertin stated very useful techniques, innovations, artefacts and examples that apply specifically to the design of maps and graphics.</p><p>One of the most important issues that were not discussed considering the visual variables and the overall design addresses the design of graphics and the use of visual variables. When handling statistical data to design graphics, these latter should not be built randomly; their design should obey strict rules and contain necessary components with regards to the data handled. May we talk about a kind of guideline to help users to choose the most efficient type of graphic depending on the data characteristics the design context, and the message to convey?</p><p>Yet the specialized software dedicated to graphics design such as Excel do not answer this question and do not help sufficiently the map users to make the best choice and when a choice is made, a useful explanation is not furnished to justify this choice by common users or by cartographers. Our hypothesis is that the design of graphics and the choice of appropriate visual variables according to their properties is worth it: it may greatly influence their attractivity and increase their readability and memorization.</p><p>This issue was encountered by authors when designing the Urban Atlas of Jeddah (UAJ). Besides detailed maps that portray the spatial distribution and analysis of various data on Jeddah and its districts, the UAJ needed that some of these data to be converted into graphics when the focus is on attribute characteristics rather than on spatial distribution. When inserted in one Atlas, the choice of one given type of graphics does not depends only on scientific criteria but also on design considerations (choice of appropriate visual variables, consistency, homogeneity, and relevance…). For instance, we should not put in one single atlas only one type of graphics, nor the same looks in terms of retained visual variables.</p><p>Yet, the recent Arabic translation of the Semiology of Graphics (DHIEB, 2018) gave them very useful guidelines in designing Atlas graphics. The goal of this paper is first to put altogether Bertin’s principles and insights that should apply to the design of graphics; second to implement such guidelines in the UAJ project; and third to evaluate such uses stated 50 years ago by Bertin and other graphicians (BERTIN, 1970, 1973, 1987, 2005; BONIN, 1983; BONIN S. and BONIN M., 1989; GIMENO, 1980; BORD, 2000) with regards to the scientific and technical evolution of graphics design. Full automation of graphical design (GRONOFF, J.-D., 1983; MULLER, J.C., 1984) should be inspired by Bertin’s statements on the use of visual variables and the multiple rules that should be extracted from the Graphics Design Guideline (GDG) developed by the authors. Examples of simple graphics or of graphics processing (AMADO, 1994) from the UAJ are furnished according to the sets of prototypes of graphics realized.</p>

El trabajo se realizó en un ambiente de confianza, gracias a la franqueza natural de los moradores de Same, que facilitó las relaciones amistosas con los investigadores. Así mismo se contó con el apoyo oficial de las autoridades provinciales y locales.
En una reunión inicial, a la que concurrieron la mayoría de los pobladores del recinto, se les habló de los objetivos de nuestra presencia en el lugar; es decir del estudio que se iba a realizar. Se les solicitó su colaboración y la ofrecieron de buen grado.

ABSTRACT Microorganisms play a vital role in maintaining soil fertility and plant health. They can act as biofertilizers and increase the resistance to biotic and abiotic stress. This study aimed at isolating and characterizing plant growth-promoting bacteria associated with sugarcane, as well as assessing their ability to promote plant growth. Endophytic bacteria from leaf, stem, root and rhizosphere were isolated from the RB 867515 commercial sugarcane variety and screened for indole acetic acid (IAA) production, ability to solubilize phosphate, fix nitrogen and produce hydrogen cyanide (HCN), ammonia and the enzymes pectinase, cellulase and chitinase. A total of 136 bacteria were isolated, with 83 of them presenting some plant growth mechanism: 47 % phosphate solubilizers, 26 % nitrogen fixers and 57 % producing IAA, 0.7 % HCN and chitinase, 45 % ammonia, 30 % cellulose and 8 % pectinase. The seven best isolates were tested for their ability to promote plant growth in maize. The isolates tested for plant growth promotion belong to the Enterobacteriaceae family and the Klebsiella, Enterobacter and Pantoea genera. Five isolates promoted plant growth in greenhouse experiments, showing potential as biofertilizers.

A bird survey was carried out in the lower Mai Valley Forests (MVF) Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA) in far eastern Nepal, between 180 m and 2200 m from 01 to 10 March 2022. An assessment was also made of the environmental conditions of forest and river habitats, and type and extent of agriculture. A comparison was made with a March 1981 visit. Observations were noted during a ten-day trek from Ilam (1205 m) up to Hangetham (2200 m) and down to Sukhani (180 m). The large number of 256 bird species was recorded, including one globally threatened and five globally near-threatened species, five restricted-range species, 20 nationally threatened and eight nationally near-threatened species. One new species for Nepal, black-breasted thrush Turdus dissimilis and three rare Nepal species not found in the IBA for at least 20 years, were also recorded. Extensive intact areas of semi-evergreen subtropical and lower temperate mixed broadleaved forests valuable for birds still remain. Tropical forests have been fragmented and mainly replaced by tea and rubber plantations, and also by the spread of agriculture. However, Sukhani still comprises a substantial semi-evergreen broadleaved forest important for birds, although it is highly threatened. Hunting is probably a significant threat to bird species in MVF. Despite loss and degradation of some forests, especially in the tropical zone, MVF still qualify as an IBA. The Mai Khola habitat has been severely damaged by the Mai Khola Hydroelectric Project, which became operational in 2015, resulting in serious declines in river birds. MVF remain outside the existing protected area network. Including MVF in Nepal’s protected area system would ensure conservation of the species-rich semi-evergreen mixed broadleaved tropical and subtropical forests that are currently an important omission. Further bird surveys are recommended at all elevations and in tropical and subtropical forests that have so far not been covered.

В статье рассматриваются основные типы сфероконусов Царевского городища, хранящиеся в Археологическом музее Казанского федерального университета, Волгоградском областном краеведческом музее, Государственном Эрмитаже, а также форма из камня для изготовления конусообразных сосудов. Обзор этих изделий в контексте изучения сфероконических сосудов с других золотоордынских памятников позволяет установить особенности их бытования на нижневолжских памятниках.

Abstract Cognitive-pragmatic approaches to how metaphors are understood view the activation of perceptual or motor effects as inferred (Steinhart 2001; Bergen 2005; Wilson and Carston 2006; Carston 2010; Gibbs and de Macedo 2010; Wilson and Carston 2019). Crucially, inferences elicit conceptual representations, e.g. in the form of implicatures, and/or mental simulations, e.g. in the form of imagery, memory, an impression and other private elements. Emotional effects, being non-conceptual, must be left out of this picture. But evidence in neurolinguistics and psycholinguistics has shown that metaphors activate brain regions linked to emotions (for a review, see Ifantidou 2019; Citron 2020), and that in L2, in the absence of fully-propositional meaning (due to unknown words), metaphors yield meaningful interpretations by evoking imagery, impressions, emotions (Ifantidou 2019, 2021a, 2021b; Ifantidou and Hatzidaki 2019). Drawing on relevance-theoretic views, we would like to argue that metaphors are processed in not entirely propositional terms. Subjective experience heuristics (originally proposed as “availability heuristic” by Tversky and Kahneman 1974; Schwarzand and Wänke 2002; “affect heuristic” by Zajonc 1980) allows making rapid responses by absorbing emotions, imagery, impressions, into the interpretation process, an ability which outweighs (the need for) standard inferential reasoning processes. Such a position is likely to apply to non-metaphorical language, too and thus pervade linguistic processing in general.

Pocos acontecimientos políticos suscitaron el nivel de expectativa y preocupación y la diversidad de posiciones diplomáticas a lo largo y ancho de América Latina, como la guerra entre Argentina y Gran Bretaña entre abril y junio de 1982, por la soberanía de las islas del Atlántico Sur. No obstante, pese a las simpatías iniciales que en un momento despertó el reclamo argentino en latinoamericana, las particularidades políticas e intereses de cada nación y el mismo rumbo que iba tomando el conflicto, transformó considerablemente la posición que al respecto tenían diversos grupos políticos en cada país. El presente artículo centrará su estudio en los cambios en el caso colombiano, más específicamente en las variaciones que tuvo el discurso periodístico de la derecha tradicional colombiana frente al desarrollo del conflicto.

María Franciska Dapena (1924-1995) fue una artista multidisciplinar vizcaína recordada, por lo general, por su participación –la única femenina– en el colectivo de Estampa Popular de Vizcaya (1962), un movimiento vertebrador de la historia del arte del siglo XX español y vasco que nos ha llegado. No obstante, su reconocimiento como integrante de este proyecto colectivo ha sido fruto de las investigaciones realizadas en las últimas décadas, donde se ha incorporado el objetivo de recuperar la agencia de mujeres artistas del pasado. En esta ocasión, el artículo trata de analizar, en primer lugar, la figura y obra de Dapena a través de una lectura de género y, a su vez, relacionar parte de su producción con el movimiento feminista que iba tomando forma en los círculos cercanos a la artista.

The article analyzes the contents of the concept “love”— one of the key
concepts in the journalistic papers of Ivan Ilyin. In his works we find true
language culture and a deep understanding of ideas most important for
humanity. The source of the study is philosophical and journalistic sheets
“Our Mission” published I. Ilyin in 1948–1954. I.A. Ilyin wrote “Our Mission”
not only for his contemporaries but also “for the new Russian generation”.
He hoped that his findings and conclusions gained through suffering will the
new generations cope with the problem of Russia’s revival, with the task of
forming the spiritual nature of the nation.
I. Ilyin understands love as one of the three laws of the spirit, one of the
three great foundations of human life and culture. Such an understanding is
compared with modern ideas about the concept – the fact that we find quite
justified, because “Our Mission” has its roots in the pre-revolutionary culture
and the reading of the text in question is essentially a step in cross-cultural
communication mediated through language.

ABSTRACT Technologies that use rhizobacteria to promote plant growth are increasing in agriculture, results have shown improvements in soil quality, increases in productivity, and decreases in the use of synthetic inputs, The objective of work was to characterize bacterial isolates regarding their biological activity and growth promotion of soybean plants grown in a controlled environment. Fifteen bacteria were isolated from soils with continuous use of biological fertilizer. They were evaluated for enzymes production (amylase and protease), nitrogen fixation, antagonistic activity to phytopathogenic fungi, and indoleacetic acid (IAA) production, Soybean seeds were inoculated with bacterial isolates in a greenhouse and evaluated for plant development and soil chemical attributes. The results showed that 8 of the 15 isolates presented production of amylase, protease, or both and 4 isolates presented nitrogen-fixing capacity. The percentage of isolates with high or moderate inhibitory action against the fungi Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Macrophomina phaseolina, and Fusarium solani were 73.3%, 66.6%, and 73.3%, respectively. The IAA production varied from 8.56 to 31.33 µg mL-1 (5 isolates had low, 6 had moderate, and 4 had high production). The soybean development was significantly higher in 80% of the treatments with inoculation with bacterial isolates. Five bacterial isolates effectively present all characteristics for use as inoculant (biofertilizer) to promote the development of soybean plants.

Hypocotyl fragments of <i>Cucumis sativus</i> L. were grown on two basic media: Linsmaier-Skoog's (1964) and White's (1943) modified by Street and McGregor (1952). These media were enriched by addition of some growth regulators (NAA, IAA, 2,4-D) in combination with kinetin. White's basic medium is not suitable for callus culture and for rhisogenesis of cucumber hypocotyls. Linsmaier and Skoog's medium was most suitable for growth of callus. After enrichment of the media with IAA, NAA and 2,4-D differences in the degree of taking root by the explants and callus formation were observed.

ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of six indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) concentrations and three immersion times in IAA solutions on the vegetative propagation of Spondias dulcis and Spondias tuberosa by stem cuttings. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, using a completely randomized design, with a 6×3 factorial arrangement consisting of six indole-3-acetic acid concentrations (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 g L-1) and three immersion times (8, 16, and 24 seconds), with ten cuttings of S. dulcis and S. tuberosa per plot, and three replications. Percentage of surviving cuttings, and percentage of rooted cuttings, number of leaf buds, number of roots per cutting, root length, and total fresh weight were evaluated at 180 days after planting. Data were subjected to analysis of variance by the F test and to regression analysis. Vegetative propagation from woody cuttings of S. dulcis is not viable to produce seedlings, thus, new studies on this technique for this species are needed. Vegetative propagation from woody cuttings of S. tuberosa is satisfactory, but with low efficiency for improvement and emergence of new shoots and roots; it is more effective when using a concentration of 10 g L-1 of indole-3-acetic acid and immersion time in the solution of 16 seconds.

Shamir proposed the concept of the ID-based cryptosystem (IBC) in 1984. Instead of generating and publishing a public key for each user, the ID-based scheme permits each user to choose his name or network address as his public key. This is advantageous to public-key cryptosystems because the public-key verification is so easy and direct. In such a way, a large public key file is not required. Since new cryptographic schemes always face security challenges and many integer factorization problem and discrete logarithm based cryptographic systems have been deployed, therefore, the purpose of this paper is to design practical IBC using hybrid mode problems factoring and discrete logarithm. We consider the security against a conspiracy of some entities in the proposed system and show the possibility of establishing a more secure system.
