RESUMO: O principal fator influenciador no processo de conservação dos grãos é o teor de água dos mesmos, sendo que as reações de deterioração acontecem em altos níveis de umidade. Portanto, os grãos armazenados devem ser preservados ao máximo. O objetivo deste estudo foi aferir a exatidão e reprodutibilidade dos métodos: padrão da estufa 105°C, destilação por Brown-Duvel, condutividade elétrica e método dielétrico (capacitância), relacionando os resultados com a massa específica do produto. Os resultados foram submetidos à análise de variância e teste de Tukey a 5% de significância e as análises foram realizadas utilizando software estatístico Sisvar versão 5.6. O método da capacitância mostrou-se eficaz para determinação do teor de água dos grãos, tanto para o arroz e como para o café, sendo equiparável ao método padrão da estufa 105°C. A massa especifica média aparente encontrada para o arroz e para o café foram 740,5 e 614,1 kg.m-3, respectivamente.

METHODOLOGIES EVALUATIONS FOR DETERMINING THE WATER CONTENT IN ORYZA SATIVA L. AND COFFEA ARABICA L. GRAINS
ABSTRACT: The main influencing factor in grain conservation process is water content of grains, with deterioration reactions occurring at high humidity levels. Therefore, stored grains must be preserved to the maximum. The aim of this study was to assess the accuracy and reproducibility of methods: standard of the oven at 105°C, Brown-Duvel distillation, electrical conductivity and dielectric method (capacitance), relating the results to the specific product mass. The results were subjected to analysis of variance and Tukey's test at 5% significance and were performed using Sisvar version 5.6 statistical software. The capacitance method proved to be effective for determining the grains water content, both for rice and coffee, being comparable to the standard method of the 105°C oven. The apparent average specific mass found for rice and coffee were 740.5 and 614.1 kg.m-3, respectively.

During 1993–1995 the effect of conventional tillage, reduced till, mulch till and no-till technology on soil moisture dynamics has been studied in field experiment on Haplic chernozems near Piešťany. The tillage treatments were evaluated under a single cropping of maize and spring barley – common peas – winter wheat crop rotation. Soil samples for gravimetric determination of moisture content were collected from six layers up to 0.8 m, three times per year (April–July). The soil moisture was highly significantly influenced in order of importance by date of sampling, year, growing crops, tillage treatments, soil layer and by interactions year × crops, year × date of sampling, crops × date of sampling, tillage × date of sampling, year × tillage, date of sampling × layer and significant influences by interactions, tillage × crops. The soil under conventional tillage had significantly higher moisture content than tested reduced till, mulch till and no-till treatments. The significant influence of maize stand on better soil humidity condition (16.35%) in comparison to crops grown in a crop rotation (in average 14.10%) has been ascertained.

Gold leaf samples of different purities were corroded in a SO2 atmosphere at three different relative humidities (30%, 60%, 90%) at ambient temperature, and the effects on color, gloss, and morphology were studied. Results showed that a corrosion rate of 0.0898 g/cm2 could be attained after 6 weeks at high humidity. Color changes also occurred during the gold leaf corrosion process, and many thin pits formed on the surfaces, as shown by SEM. EDX results showed that these pits contained C, O, and S compounds. By comparing the results of different gold purity samples and different relative humidity conditions, it could be concluded that both gold content and humidity play an important role in SO2 atmosphere corrosion. These conclusions are helpful for the conservation of gold leaf decorative cultural relics.

Les champignons endomycorhizogènes (AMF) jouent un rôle écologique fondamental dans les écosystèmes terrestres. Cependant, leur distribution et leur diversité dans les sols rhizosphériques restent mal décrites dans les communautés naturelles, en particulier dans les écosystèmes arides et semi-arides. Dans le présent travail, nous rapportons pour la première fois la distribution verticale sur trois profondeurs (0-20, 20-40 et 40-60 cm) des spores d’AMF présentes dans les sols rhizosphériques du pistachier de l’Atlas (Pistacia atlantica Desf.) dans une zone aride d’Algérie. Notre échantillonnage a été réalisé à Dayate El Gouffa (wilaya de Laghouat), au mois d’avril sur deux années consécutives : 2016 et 2017. Quatre familles de Glomeromycota morphologiquement distinctives ont été déterminées. Le nombre de spores d’AMF varie entre 16 et 676 par 100 g de sol sec en 2016 et entre 159 et 1 160 par 100 g de sol sec en 2017. Ce nombre diminue à mesure que la profondeur augmente chez les sujets âgés. Chez les sujets jeunes, c’est l’inverse qui se produit. Les sols de Dayate El Gouffa sont dominés par les Acaulosporaceae et les Glomeraceae pour les deux ans d’échantillonnage. L’abondance des spores semble en corrélation avec les propriétés physiques et chimiques du sol (sables, humidité hygroscopique et capacité de rétention), mais aussi climatiques (températures et précipitations). Cette étude a permet la mise en évidence de la variation de l’abondance des spores d’une année à une autre, dans un écosystème naturel d’une zone aride et montre que les facteurs édaphiques et climatiques sont des moteurs importants dans leur distribution verticale.

La régénération des huiles lubrifiantes peut être considérée comme une option privilégiée à la conservation des ressources énergétiques et à la réduction des dommages causés à l'environnement. Dans ce contexte, le présent travail a été élaboré en vue de démontrer la faisabilité de régénérer l’huile usagée Repsol32 utilisé comme lubrifiant dans le compresseur de synthèse d’ammoniac du complexe Fertial, Annaba. Le traitement à l’acide sulfurique a montré que pour un ratio VAcide/VHuile égal à 1/20 et une température de 40 °C, la viscosité cinématique et la teneur en eau de l’huile usagée sont nettement améliorées. Les valeurs des différents paramètres physicochimiques entrant dans la caractérisation de l’huile traitée (viscosité, humidité, indice de réfraction et densité) répondent bien aux normes d’utilisation des huiles minérales dans les processus de lubrification.

Ajoutées aux risques volcaniques et sismiques et plus encore aux fréquents cyclones, les conditions climatiques de la Guadeloupe et des îles de la Caraïbe – une chaleur et une humidité permanentes – ont rendu plus aigües les difficultés posées par la conservation physique des documents et plus incertaines les réponses apportées à ce défi. L’exemple des bâtiments dévolus aux Archives coloniales puis aux Archives départementales de la Guadeloupe a paru significatif de la manière, conventionnelle ou innovante, dont on a progressivement formulé les enjeux et pris en compte dans leur ampleur les spécificités matérielles de la conservation du patrimoine archivistique guadeloupéen. Outre les difficultés liées à la précarité des espaces dévolus aux archives, ce premier article souligne l’absence persistante d’une gestion organisée des documents avant la transformation en départements des «vieilles colonies » de la Guadeloupe, de la Guyane, de la Martinique et de La Réunion et aux premiers effets de la départementalisation qui entraîne la création officielle d’un service départemental d’archives en 1951 et son installation à Basse-Terre dans une caserne désaffectée.

Objectif : Pour tenter de réduire les effets de ces changements climatiques sur les productions, un apport au sol avant les mises en place des cultures de 12 t/ha de déchets de coton graine ou de compost associé à la moitié de la dose d’engrais minéral recommandée (200 kg/ha de NPK + 50 kg/ha d’urée) a permis d’améliorer l’humidité du sol sans aucun effet sur l’eau utile du sol. L’apport de déchets de coton graine ou de compost a permis aussi d’améliorer le nombre de capsules par plante, le nombre de capsules mûres récoltées, la qualité sanitaire des capsules mûres et surtout le rendement en coton graine. Conclusion : L’apport de 12 tonnes/ha de déchets de coton graine associés à de l’engrais chimique à la dose de 100 kg/ha de NPK et 25 kg/ha d’urée constituent un niveau optimum d’utilisation des déchets de coton graine en coton culture. Effect of ginned cotton-seed waste application to the ground on soil moisture and cotton yield in northern Côte d'Ivoire ABSTRACT Objective: In an attempt to reduce the effects of climate change on production, an application to the ground prior to the establishment of 12 t/ha of ginned seed cotton waste associated with half of the recommended mineral fertilizer dose (200 kg/ha of NPK + 50 kg/ha of urea) improved soil moisture without any effect on the soil available water capacity. The supply of seed cotton waste or compost has also improved the number of capsules/plant, the number of mature capsules harvested, the sanitary quality of mature capsules and, above all, the yield in seed cotton. Conclusion: The supply of 12 tons/ha of seed cotton waste associated with chemical fertilizer at the dose of 100 kg/ha of NPK and 25 kg/ha of urea constitutes an optimum level of use of cotton seed waste in cotton farming. In order to alleviate the urban heat island effect, absorb harmful gases, reduce temperature, and increase humidity, a method of energy conservation optimization and numerical simulation of urban green space landscape pattern is proposed. Based on the theory of landscape ecology, green wedge, green belt, green road, park, and other types of green space with different ecological functions are designed in Shenyang, and an optimization scheme of urban green space network spatial structure of “four belts, three rings, seven wedges, and network connection” is formed. Combined with remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS) spatial analysis technology, the atmospheric environment effect under the influence of green space landscape optimization pattern in summer based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation technology is analyzed, and the corresponding optimization strategies of urban green space planning are put forward. The simulation results show that in the bottom wind speed field of 1.5 m, the area ratio of 0∼0.375 m/s wind speed is 15.87%, and the area ratio of 2.625∼3 m/s wind speed is 32.06%. In the bottom concentration field of 1.5 m, the spatial diffusion capacity of SO2 pollutants is enhanced, and the concentration of pollutants is relatively low. The area ratio of SO2 concentration is 10.06% in the range of 0.1292∼0.1551 mg/m3, and the area ratio of SO2 concentration is 68.08% in the range of 0∼0.05169 mg/m3. It is concluded that the spatial diffusion of wind speed, SO2, and temperature is closely related to the urban spatial layout. The optimal spatial layout of urban green space can effectively alleviate the urban heat island effect, promote the spatial diffusion of SO2, and better form the urban ventilation corridor. The research on atmospheric environmental effects of urban green space based on CFD can effectively simulate and evaluate the optimization measures and conceptual design of urban green space system planning, and also provide new ideas for the quantitative planning of urban green space system.

La tourbière de l’île Notre-Dame a été créée il y a 35 ans dans le cadre des « Floralies Internationales de Montréal – 1980 » à partir de blocs de tourbe de surface prélevés dans une tourbière de la région de la baie James vouée à l’ennoiement. Nous avons étudié les changements survenus dans la composition floristique de cette tourbière sous les angles spécifique (les espèces) et fonctionnel (traits fonctionnels). Entre 1979 et 2014, une baisse de 48 % de la richesse globale a été observée, ainsi qu’une augmentation importante de la représentation des espèces exotiques, généralistes et méridionales. Seules 5 des 56 espèces trouvées originalement sont encore présentes aujourd’hui sur la tourbière. Des changements importants ont aussi été notés entre les traits fonctionnels de la flore de 1979 et ceux de la flore de 2014. Ainsi, les besoins moyens en acidité, en humidité et en matière organique dans le substrat ainsi qu’en lumière ont significativement diminué. En revanche, les besoins moyens en nutriments dans le sol ont significativement augmenté. Ces changements indiquent que le site évolue vers un environnement plus sec et plus riche, de moins en moins caractéristique d’une tourbière. En conclusion, nous présentons quelques suggestions pour accroître la réussite des projets de création de milieux humides.

La perte de la biodiversité végétale, liée à la dégradation des parcours est l’un des défis pour les pays d’accueil des transhumants. La présente étude visait à analyser les caractéristiques structurales et la diversité floristique des groupements végétaux dans la Basse et Moyenne Vallée de l’Ouémé (BMVO). Les données phytosociologiques, collectées dans 113 relevés selon la méthode de Braun-Blanquet (1932), ont été soumises à une DCA avec le logiciel R 3.3.2. Ainsi, 173 espèces regroupées dans 127 genres et 45 familles ont été recensées. Au total, 4 groupements végétaux ont été identifiés : les groupements GI à Andropogon gayanus var squamulatus et Mitragyna inermis ; GII à Paspalum notatum et Aeollanthus pubescens ; GIII à Panicum maximum et Calopogonium mucunoides et le groupement végétal GIV à Tridax procumbens et Daniellia oliveri. La diversité floristique est liée à la topographie, la nature du sol et son humidité, et l’intensité d’exploitation des terres. Les thérophytes et les phanérophytes ont été les plus abondants dans tous les groupements. Par contre, les hémicryptophytes ont été plus dominants dans le groupement GI. Les espèces à large distribution et à distribution continentale ont été plus abondantes et dominantes dans tous les groupements. Cette recherche servira de base pour l’analyse de la dynamique de la végétation des terres de parcours de la BMVO.

Abstract The archipelago of Cape Verde consists of nine main islands of oceanic origin situated 500 km west of the African mainland. The present study aims at increasing our knowledge of the endemic vascular flora and its origin and evolution, and at providing a scientific basis for its protection. One endemic genus (Tornabenea) and 82 endemic species and subspecies were accepted, including one new species in Tornabenea (T. humilis) and three new combinations in Campylanthus and Kickxia. Morphological descriptions, illustrations, typifications, chromosome numbers, phyto- and ecogeographic information, and conservation status, based on field-, herbarium-, garden-, and literary studies, are provided. The degree of endemism was 10.5% at the species level. The endemic flora had a mixture of holarctic (65%, including I 5% in a NW-Moroccan element) and tropic (35%) affinities. Thirty-three Capeverdean endemics ( 40%) were most closely related to taxa with a Canaro-Madeiran distribution. The endemic flora was divided into five distributional elements (northern, western, southern, eastern, and ubiquitous; with 26, 21, I 5, 3, and 17 taxa. respectively) and three ecological elements (hygrophytic, mesophytic, and xerophytic; with 31, 34, and I 7 taxa, respectively). Although distributional patterns corresponded closely to geographic positions of island groups, the patterns could be sufficiently explained by ecological factors. Endemic species richness was strongly correlated with humidity and maximum island altitude. The tropic proportion decreased with increasing altitude and humidity. More than half of the endemic flora is presently threatened (Red List taxa), and 16 single-island extinctions were recorded. The proportion of polyploids was 27% based on 63% of the endemics, which is similar to the proportion in the endemic Canarian flora. Most taxa (90%) were schizoendemic diploids or mesopolyploids, typically differentiated ecogeographically among islands and along humidity gradients. This pattern has frequently been complicated by parallel inter-island evolution along similar gradients, and many ecogeographically ubiquitous mesophytes showed large and complex interpopulational variation. In such cases, differentiation along continuous, steep, and tree-less coast-mountain gradients of humidity has resulted in eco-morphological clines of populations rather than classic adaptive radiation into distinct taxa. Contrary to previous beliefs, we suggest that the present Capeverdean flora is very young, possibly only a few hundred thousand years old. It contains no palaeoendemics in the strict sense, only a single endemic genus, and most endemic taxa are only slightly differentiated morphologically from their sister groups. This conclusion is supported by recent geological, palaeontological, and molecular data. A possible scenario with origins and extinctions of successive Capeverdean floras is outlined, following the dramatic fluctuations between wet and dry climates in northern Africa during the Quaternary. The present flora was probably founded by two main waves of immigrants, both via dispersal from (north-)westem Africa, but in different climatic periods.

This work aimed at evaluating the post-harvest conservation of “Benitaka” table grape by using different types of SO2-generating pads and perforated plastic liners under cold storage. The grapes were harvested from off-season crop 2018 in a commercial vineyard located at Cambira, PR, Brazil. The completely randomized design was used with four replications in a 2-factor arrangement with an additional treatment [(4 × 3) + 1], and the following factors were evaluated: a) SO2-generating pads (slow release containing 7 g of active ingredient – a.i.; slow release containing 4 g of a.i.; dual release containing 5 g of a.i.; and dual release containing 8 g of a.i.); and b) perforated plastic liners (0.3%, 0.9% and 1.0% of ventilation areas). The additional treatment did not contain any type of SO2-generating pad, only standard microperforated plastic liner (1% of ventilation area). The bunches were packed in 0.5 kg-capacity plastic clamshells, which were placed in a corrugated carton box with the different combinations of SO2-generating pads and plastic liners under cold storage at 1 ∘C with high relative humidity (>90%). The treatments were evaluated at 30 and 45 days after the beginning of the cold storage, recording the incidence of gray mold, shattered berries, stem browning, mass loss and berry firmness. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and the means were compared by Tukey's test at 5%. The use of dual release SO2-generating pads containing 5 g or 8 g of a.i., as well the slow release pads with 7 g of a.i., are efficient to control the incidence of gray mold in “Benitaka” table grapes packaged in plastic clamshells and kept under cold storage at 1 ∘C up to 45 days. In these storage conditions, the use of perforated plastic liners with 0.3% of ventilation area or the micro perforated with 1.0% of ventilation area, result in the lowest bunch mass loss and shattered berries.

Abstract The use of chemicals in storage solutions has proved beneficial for the postharvest conservation of cut flowers. However, the effect of these solutions on the water relations of some species is still unknown. Therefore, the objective of the present investigation was to evaluate the water relations in calla lily flowers harvested at different stages and maintained under postharvest solutions with different chemicals. The flower stems were harvested in two stages of spathe opening: the early stage (cartridge) and the 1/3 flower opening stage. The flower stems were dipped in solutions with water (control), 100 mg L-1 sodium hypochlorite (NaClO), 100 mg L-1 aluminum sulfate [Al2(SO4)3], 200 mg L-1 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) and 10 mg L-1 silver nitrate (AgNO3). Over 9 days, the floral stems were kept in a room at 21 ± 2 °C and 75% ± 5% relative humidity and evaluated for changes in the pH of the solution and the water absorption, transpiration and commercial quality of the cut flowers. The addition of conservation substances to the storage solution induced spathe opening at both harvest stages and promoted water absorption by the stems, thus increasing the efficiency of flower hydration. The water balance maintenance was best for stems stored in water and storage solutions with Al2(SO4)3.

In this paper, sol-gel processing route has been applied and investigated for the conservation of steel. Nanosilica coatings on steel surface have been prepared using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as a starting material. The methyl-modified silica sols were obtained by mixing of 3mas.% SiO2 sol solution with hexamethyldisilozane (HMDS). The surface of steel was coated by dip-coating technique. In order to compare the characteristics of coatings, the steel substrates were also coated with commercial polymers Paraloid B67, Cosmolloid H80 and Antik Patina. The surface morphology changes of the uncoated and coated specimens before and after photochemical ageing were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The structure of the prepared coatings was also investigated by FTIR spectroscopy. The hydrophobicity of surfaces was evaluated by contact angle measurements. Potentiodynamic measurements were obtained in order to compare corrosion parameters of the coatings.

Sulfur dioxide (SO2)-generating pads associated with perforated plastic liners are often used to control gray mold in table grapes during cold storage; however, SO2 may cause bleaching, shattered berries, and an unwanted taste. To overcome this difficulty, a field ultrafast SO2-generating pad was designed to be used for a few hours before packaging grape bunches as an alternative for eradicating spores of fungi from berry skin. This study aimed to assess the postharvest conservation and shelf life of ‘Italia’ table grapes packaged in plastic clamshells and perforated plastic liners using the field ultra-fast SO2-generating pads before packaging, associated with or without slow- or dual-phase SO2-generating pads during cold storage. The packaged grapes were cold stored (1.0 ± 1.0 °C; 95% relative humidity), and after 45 d, grapes were placed at room temperature (22.0 ± 1.0 °C) without plastic liners and SO2-generating pads for 3 d. Before and after the grapes had been subjected to the field ultra-fast SO2-generating pads, the quantification of filamentous fungi on the surface of the berries was assessed. The use of field ultra-fast SO2-generating pads before packaging, associated with slow- or dual-phase SO2-generating pads during cold storage, resulted in a lower incidence of gray mold after 45 d of storage, with low weight loss and shattered berries, good preservation of stem freshness, and no impairment in the color and firmness of the berries. Additionally, a significant decrease in disease incidence was observed when using only the dual-phase SO2-generating pads in cold storage, with good maintenance of bunch quality.

Météo-France opère en temps réel depuis 2003 la chaîne de modélisation hydro-météorologique SIM, composée du module d'analyse des conditions atmosphériques en surface (SAFRAN), d'une modélisation détaillée des interactions sol-biosphère-atmosphère (ISBA) et du modèle hydrogéologique MODCOU. Cette chaîne a connu une évolution majeure en 2016 afin d'améliorer certains de ses composants. Cette application temps-réel, complétée par une réanalyse depuis 1958 permet de caractériser la situation par rapport aux années antérieures pour plusieurs variables du cycle hydrologique (précipitations, humidité du sol, enneigement). Les épisodes de sécheresse, l'évolution du stock nival, etc. peuvent ainsi être suivis au jour le jour sur l'ensemble de la France métropolitaine. Des applications de prévisions ont également été mises en place pour anticiper l'évolution de la situation hydrologique. L'initialisation des conditions hydrologiques provient de la chaîne d'analyse temps-réel et des données météorologiques prévues sont utilisées en entrée d'ISBA-MODCOU. Ainsi une application pour les échéances allant jusqu'à 10 jours utilise comme forçage météorologique les prévisions d'ensemble du CEPMMT (Centre Européen de Prévision Météorologique à Moyen Terme). Chaque jour des prévisions sont produites sur différentes zones (départements, bassins versants, etc.), l'ensemble de prévision fournit des informations pour les différentes variables hydrologiques au pas de temps quotidien. De plus la visualisation de la dispersion des prévisions renseigne sur l'incertitude associée à chaque prévision. Pour des échéances plus lointaines (jusqu'à 6 mois), deux applications de prévisions sont opérées tous les mois. La première utilise en entrée des scénarios météorologiques issus de la climatologie, alors que la seconde utilise des données issues du modèle de prévisions saisonnières atmosphériques de Météo-France. Malgré l'incertitude des prévisions, l'exploitation complémentaire des prévisions climatologique et saisonnière est un outil pour la gestion des ressources en eau. Les débits moyens mensuels prévus pour chacune des applications comparés aux débits des années précédentes permettent en effet de caractériser la situation pour les mois à venir et l'incertitude associée.

Most stained-glass windows installed during the Middle Ages have deteriorated over time due to climate and pollution. To reconstruct their alteration history over the centuries, evaluate the current environmental risk, and predict their alteration in the future, two modelling methodologies have been used. First, based on the short-term exposure of medieval-type glass in different sites, dose–response functions (DRFs) were established. These DRFs correlate relevant environmental factors (temperature, rain quantity, rain pH, relative humidity, and SO2 concentration) with the response of the material in terms of alteration layer thickness. The second methodology consists of laboratory experiments that aim at parametrising kinetic laws as a function of specific parameters (temperature, rain pH, and relative humidity). These kinetic laws can be extrapolated over long periods, contrary to DRFs. In this study, we compared both methodologies to simulate the alteration of a model stained glass at different European sites or over different time periods. The results highlighted that the kinetic laws were able to closely represent the data, except for the polluted sites where the alteration was underestimated. This indicated that the dependence of the alteration rate on the pollutant concentrations should be included to improve the model.

A study was carried out to evaluate the seasonal diversity of macro moths across different forest sub-types occurring in theShiwalik landscape of northern India, mainly Uttarakhand and adjoining states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. Fortythree field surveys of 59 days were carried out from July 2020 to October 2022 using stratified random sampling in each of the 19 selected study sites. Sampling surveys revealed 321 species of moths belonging to 19 families and 49 sub-families. These new range extensions from central Himalaya and northeastern India indicate the affinity of moths found in the northern Indian Shiwaliks with that of the Oriental region. Seasonal trend of species richness showed two annual peaks, with the first peak occurring in August followed by a smaller peak in October, while the seasonal abundance of moth species was maximum in July followed by a smaller peak in September. One-hundredand-forty species occurred only during the ‘monsoon’ season indicating their seasonality, univoltine habit and short flight periods in these tropical forests. Species richness of moths correlated positively with relative humidity (r2 = 0.100; p = 0.0142; n = 59). The most dominant family was Erebidae (95 species) followed by Geometriidae (61), Crambidae (72), and Noctuidae (28), respectively. Maximum number of moth species were sampled in forest sub-type (i) 3C/C2a Moist Shiwalik Sal Forest, followed by (ii) 5B/C2 Northern Dry Mixed Deciduous Forest, (iii) 3C/C2c Moist Tarai Sal Forest, iv) 5B/C1a Dry Shiwalik Sal Forest, respectively. The study also revealed changing moth communities along with the vegetation structure in the Shiwaliks from east (Nandhaur Willife Sanctaury in Uttarakhand bordering Nepal) to west (Simbalbara National Park in Himachal Pradesh,India) across the landscape. The moth communities of (i) 3C/C2a Moist Shiwalik Sal Forest & (ii) 3C/C2c Moist Tarai Sal Forest being different from that of (iii) 5B/C2 Northern Dry Mixed Deciduous Forest, and (iv) 5B/C1a Dry Shiwalik Sal Forest. Besides, six new range extensions into Shiwaliks of northern India from central Nepal and northeastern India, namely: Chlorozancla falcatus (Butler, 1889) (Geometridae); Cynaeda dichroalis (Hampson, 1903), Dichocrocis pyrrhalis (Walker, 1859) & Glyphodes canthusalis Walker, 1859 (Crambidae); and Acropteris iphiata (Guenée, 1857) (Uranidae) were recorded.

En système d’agriculture de conservation, les résidus de cultures ne sont plus brassés dans un volume de sol labouré mais maintenus à la surface des sols ou partiellement enfouis. Leur présence contribue à la durabilité de ces systèmes par le maintien des équilibres agronomiques et environnementaux qu’ils induisent. Dans ce contexte, la connaissance de l’évolution de leur quantité à la surface d’un sol, de la récolte au semis de la culture suivante, devient un enjeu important de gestion des sols. Plusieurs auteurs ont établi une relation entre le taux de couverture du sol (TC) et la biomasse, propre à chaque espèce végétale, à partir d’un formalisme développé par Grégory (1982). Les objectifs de ce travail sont de tester sa validité dans le contexte pédoclimatique de la région Grand-Est (France), après récolte et au cours du processus de décomposition des résidus. Ce travail a été réalisé sur des exploitations pratiquant l’agriculture de conservation depuis plusieurs années. Les résidus ont été broyés lors de la récolte ou d’une opération spécifique. Les données de biomasse ont été collectées à l’aide de cadres de 0,5 m × 0,5 m, tandis que la couverture du sol a été étudiée à l’aide de photographies numériques. Le taux de couverture du sol a été calculé à l’aide d’un logiciel d’analyse d’images. Ce travail compare également deux périodes de mesure : en sortie d’hiver, plusieurs mois après la récolte, et juste après la récolte estivale. Les résultats montrent une très bonne correspondance entre le TC et la biomasse mesurée au sol, toutes espèces et période de mesures confondues, moyennant l’ajout d’un paramètre au formalisme de Grégory (1982). L’intégration de la variabilité spatiale au sol permet de proposer l’emploi d’un ajustement linéaire unique qui simplifie la prédiction du TC du sol ou « la prédiction » de la quantité de biomasse.

In this study, an efficient and generally applicable 2nd generation sol – gel entrapment method was developed for immobilization of yeastcells. Cells of Lodderomyces elongisporus, Candida norvegica, Debaryomyces fabryi, Pichia carsonii strains in admixture with hollow silica microspheres support were immobilized in sol – gel matrix obtained from polycondensation of tetraethoxysilane. As biocatalysts in theselective acyloin condensation of benzaldehyde catalyzed by pyruvate decarboxylase of the yeast, the novel immobilized whole-cell preparations were compared to other states of the cells such as freshly harvested wet cell paste, lyophilized cells and sol – gel entrapped preparations without hollow silica microspheres support. Reusability and storability studies designated this novel 2nd generation sol – gel method as a promising alternative for solid formulation of whole-cells bypassing expensive and difficult downstream steps while providing easy-to-handle and stable biocatalysts with long-term preservation of the biocatalytic activity.

Multifunctional electrochromic (EC) materials which control multiple colors, various color density, and specular reflection are expected to be potential candidate for light-modulation device and novel reflective display device. Electrodeposition is also attractive method to create colors1-6) because silver (Ag) nanoparticles exhibit various optical states based on their localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). LSPR bands of metal nanoparticles are affected by the size and shape. The control of LSPR, therefore, must enable dramatic changes in color for the surface where nanoparticles are deposited. We successfully demonstrate the first LSPR-based multicolor EC device enabling reversible control of six optical states—transparent, silver mirror, cyan, magenta, yellow and black. We evaluated the plant richness and conservation value of three areas recently added to the territory of the Pedregal de San Ángel Ecological Reserve: two of them added to the Southeastern core area (SOl and S02), and one to the buffer zone called Al3. Cumulative plant richness was 199 species (57.6% of the species previously recorded in the literature). In SOl, S02 and A13, the numbers of recorded plant species werel48, 152 and 149, respectively. Mammillaria haageana subsp. san-angelensis,which is an endangered cactus species, Blelia urbana, a threatened orchid, as well as a two new records for this site (Eupatorium pazcuarense and Adiantum andicola) were found in Al3. Pennisetum clandestinum is an introduced species that occurs in disturbed areas of this reserve. With these three species, the total plant richness of the reserve goes up to 340 taxa. Based on a conservation value index calculated on the bas is of eight parameters, Al3 showed the highest value (21 points), followed by S02 and SOl , with 16.5 and 10.5 points, respectively.

The aim of this work was to evaluate different SO2-generating pads and liners to control gray mold in ventilated clamshell-packaged ‘Rubi’ table grapes grown under a two-cropping per year system. The treatments consisted of SO2-generating pads (slow release or dual release) and plastic liners with different perforations (microperforated; 2.0; 4.0 or 5.0 mm in diameter) and a control, only with the standard microperforated plastic liner. The packaged grapes were stored in a cold chamber at 1.0 ± 1.0 °C and 95% relative humidity. After 45 days, the grapes were removed from cold storage and placed, without liners and SO2-generating pads, for 3 days at room temperature (22.0 ± 1.0 °C). The evaluations occurred at 30 and 45 days after the beginning of cold storage, and the following variables were assessed: incidence of gray mold, mass loss, stem browning and shattered berries. At 3 days of shelf-life, the same variables were assessed, except mass loss. The completely randomized design was used as a statistical model with four replications, and each plot consisted of five bunches individually stored in ventilated clamshell-packaged. The dual release SO2-generating pads are efficient in controlling the gray mold in ‘Rubi’ table grapes regardless of the type of perforation of the plastic liners, with low mass loss and shattered berries, with good conservation of the freshness of the rachis. The disease was efficiently controlled in both annual crops. The slow-release SO2-generating pads, regardless of the type of perforation of the plastic liners, resulted in intermediate efficiency of gray mold control, with good physical quality of the bunches. Thus, the use of dual release SO2-generating pads is recommended to control gray mold in ventilated clamshell-packaged ‘Rubi’ table grapes.

Consumption and pollution of natural resources must be constantly compensated by their conservation, saving and restoration to create a balance in the ecosystem between man and nature. To solve this problem any construction process must be accompanied by geoecoprotective measures. The authors of the article suggest to use silica sol in the soils stabilization and reinforcement technology. Silica sol is a pure mineral product that has binding properties and neutralizing properties against some pollutants. This makes it suitable for soils reinforcement and also soils neutralization from pollutants such as heavy metals ions. The stabilization technology using technogenic soils and silica sol will conserve natural resources, improves the soil strength properties and neutralize them from pollutants.

Ces composés malodorants proviennent de la dégradation microbienne de chlorophénols utilisés comme traitement insecticide de différents matériaux à base de bois principalement employés dans la construction des bâtiments, leur isolation ou dans la fabrication de caisses de stockage des bouteilles. Dans certaines conditions, humidité de l'air élevée et ventilation réduite, on assiste à une contamination rapide de l'atmosphère des caves et des vins qui y sont entreposés. De la même façon, la conservation dans une atmosphère viciée de certains produits destinés à entrer en contact avec le vin peut être responsable de sa pollution.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">L'élimination de la source de contamination en chlorophénols et en chloroanisoles, ainsi que l'amélioration du renouvellement de l'air, suffisent généralement à solutionner le problème. La prohibition de tous les produits de traitements à base de chlorophénols est conseillée dans tous les locaux destinés à recevoir du vin en vrac où à le conditionner en bouteille.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">La cuverie contaminée en même temps que les vins peut être réutilisée après nettoyage et éventuellement réfection. Cette étude visait l’évaluation, pour la première fois, de la possibilité d’estimer les rendements fourragers des pâturages dans les espaces climatiques du Burkina Faso via l’utilisation de modèles statistiques linéaires uni et multivariés construits à partir de données de biomasse végétale fourragère collectées sur le terrain en 2017, 2018 et 2019, de variables satellitaires phénologiques (indice de végétation de la différence normalisée [NDVI] et fraction de rayonnement photosynthétiquement actif absorbé [FAPAR]) et agroclimatiques (précipitations, humidité du sol, évapotranspiration, température de surface). Une recherche exhaustive des meilleurs modèles statistiques linéaires comportant une à quatre variables a été réalisée et les meilleurs modèles selon le critère d’information bayésien (BIC) identifiés. La performance des modèles uni à quadrivariés obtenus s’est avérée assez faible avec, pour l’ensemble des espaces climatiques excepté l’espace sahélien, des RRMSE press variant de 55 % à 61 % (R² press de 0,07 à 0,36), et pour l’espace climatique sahélien des RRMSE press variant de 42 % à 49 % (R² press de 0,59 à 0,69). La baisse de corrélation de la majorité des variables avec la biomasse végétale fourragère selon le gradient nord-sud résulte en une baisse de performance des modèles selon ce gradient. Les variables agroclimatiques se sont révélées inutiles, et celles issues du FAPAR sont globalement plus performantes que celles issues du NDVI. Une très faible plus-value des modèles multivariés comparés aux modèles univariés a été observée, excepté pour l’espace sahélien. Les modèles développés sur des espaces climatiques plus homogènes se sont montrés plus performants. Une série de recommandations a été identifiée pour améliorer le couplage entre données de biomasse végétale fourragère collectées sur le terrain et variables extraites des images satellitaires, et ainsi améliorer la performance des modèles.

Exceedance of water-quality standards is important in assessing water quality. The effectiveness of soil conservation Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs) should be measured according to the BMPs' impact on exceedance frequencies. However, estimating exceedance frequencies for different management scenarios with field measurements is practically impossible due to difficulties in obtaining adequate data for analysing different combinations of BMPs. The objective of this modeling research was to analyse exceedance frequencies for different management strategies applied in the Black Brook Watershed (BBW). Daily concentrations of total suspended sediments (TSS) and soluble phosphorous (sol-P) were predicted with the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) and assessed against water-quality standards from the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) and National Agri-Environmental Standards Initiative-Ideal Performance Standards (NAESI-IPS). The investigated BMPs included conservation tillage, reduced fertilizer application, crop rotation, flow diversion terraces (FDT) and the combination of all four BMPs. The results indicated that FDT was the most effective at reducing exceedance frequencies of TSS and sol-P. Under the different management scenarios, we calculated the annual exceedance frequencies of TSS and sol-P concentrations above the CCME (20–45% and 10–26%) and NAESI-IPS (32–55% and 20–38%).

The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of essential oil from orange peel in the refrigerated conservation of the ‘Benitaka’ table grape, as well as to evaluate its in vitro effectiveness on Botrytis cinerea, the causal agent of gray mold. Grapes were harvested from a commercial field in the municipality of Cambira, Paraná, during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The experimental design was completely randomized, with four treatments and five replications of five bunches per plot. The treatments were: a) control; b) essential oil from orange peel at 4.0 mL of the commercial product (c.p.) L-1; c) dual phase SO2-generating pads containing 1 and 4 g of the active ingredient (a.i.) in the fast and slow phases, respectively; and d) essential oil from orange peel at 4.0 mL c.p. L-1 associated with the dual phase SO2-generating pads containing 1 and 4 g of the a.i. in the fast and slow phases, respectively. A commercial product containing 61.14 g L-1 (6% w/v) of 4-isopropenyl-1-methylcyclohexane, the source of orange essential oil, was applied by spraying it directly onto the bunches. After drying, the grape bunches were stored in a refrigerated chamber at 1.0±1°C and 95% relative humidity. The following variables were assessed 30 and 45 days after the beginning of cold storage: the incidence of gray mold on berries, loss of bunch mass, stem browning, shattered berries, and bleaching. The minimum inhibitory concentration for the development of B. cinerea was determined, and fungal mycelia were observed using scanning electron microscopy to evaluate the in vitro efficacy of orange essential oil. The data were subjected to analysis of variance, and the means were compared using Fisher's difference test at 5% probability. The effectiveness of orange essential oil in suppressing the development of B. cinerea was demonstrated both in vivo and in vitro, making it a safe alternative for the postharvest conservation of 'Benitaka' table grapes.

Black oat (Avena strigosa) is a cover crop with great potential for weed suppression and erosion control while conserving soil moisture. Little is known about the potential of black oat for enhancing the soil food web structure and the ecosystem services in tropical Oxisols. Two-year field trials were conducted in Hawaii to compare three pre-plant treatments: (1) black oat (BO) as a pre-plant cover crop followed by no-till practice (previously managed by cover crop and cash crop rotation and conservation tillage for 7 years); (2) bare ground (BG) followed by conventional tillage (previously managed by conventional tillage and cash crop planting for 7 years); (3) conventional tilling of bare ground followed by soil solarization (SOL) (previously fallow with weeds for 5 years then summer solarization and cash crop planting for 2 years). Various soil properties and the soil food web structure using nematodes as soil health indicators were monitored throughout the subsequent corn (Zea mays) crops. SOL served as a negative control pre-plant treatment known to manage plant-parasitic nematodes but be destructive to the soil food web. No-till cropping with BO resulted in higher levels of volumetric soil moisture, field capacity, and soil organic matter, and supported a fungal-dominated decomposition pathway in trial I and more structured nematode communities than BG and SOL in trial II. This study provides evidence that no-till cover cropping with black oat improves the soil water conservation and soil food web structure following a continuous conservation tillage system in tropical Oxisols if the black oat biomass is high (36 tons/ha). However, no-till cropping with BO in Oxisol decreased the soil macroporosity and increased the soil bulk density, which were not favorable outcomes for water infiltration. On the other hand, SOL following conventional tillage was successful in generating lethal temperatures to suppress plant-parasitic nematodes and increased water infiltration in both years but was destructive to the soil food web and reduced the soil organic matter and soil moisture in both years, even when solarization failed to generate lethal temperatures in the second year.

Le ballast et le rail sont les composants majeurs intervenant dans la qualité de l'infrastructure ferroviaire. Or, le comportement du ballast demeure mal connu. Pour identifier une loi de tassement du ballast dans le plan vertical, un essai à échelle un tiers, intitulé « Microballast », est proposé. Pour cela, des lois de similitude décrivent le passage des grandeurs associées au modèle réel à celles du modèle réduit. Elles sont basées sur la conservation du matériau ballast et la conservation des champs de contraintes au sein de l'éprouvette. L'éprouvette de ballast est soumise à un chargement vertical reproduisant la charge appliquée sur le ballast lors du passage d'un bogie de train à grande vitesse (TGV). Les résultats de cet essai servent à établir la loi de tassement du ballast qui relie un incrément de tassement à la déflexion élastique de l'ensemble formé par le ballast et le sol sur lequel il repose. Les paramètres intervenant dans le chargement, la qualité du sol supportant le ballast et l'épaisseur de la couche de ballast sont discutés. The economic importance of small tomato fruits has been increased considerably due to the significant levels of lycopene and sugars. However, to achieve these compounds, the harvest is limited to a ripening stage demanded by consumers, which could reduce this marked period. Harvesting at an early stage and use of conservation techniques are desirable to amplify the marketing period. The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of small tomato fruits, Sweet Grape cultivar, harvested at two stages of ripening (light red and red), kept in three types of package (perforated PET, PEBD 30 μ and Vegetal Pack 18 μ) at a temperature of 20±1ºC and a relative humidity (RH) of 85±5% during 20 days. During this period, gas composition inside the packaging (O2, CO2 and ethylene), peel color, fresh mass loss, soluble solids content (SS), titratable acidity (TA), SS/TA and ascorbic acid levels were evaluated every 5 days. The lycopene content was determined at the beginning and the end of conservation. The experimental design was completely randomized in a split plot with four replications. Mass loss, peel color and gas composition were affected by both stage of harvest and package. The total SS/TA increased 4.74 during the conservation for two stages, regardless of package. The light red fruits reached after 20 days of conservation, mean levels of lycopene of 16.47 mg 100 g-1 and SS/TA of 18.43; on the other hand the red fruits achieved 15.30 mg 100 g-1 of lycopene and 16.80 of SS/TA. There was a mean increase of 8.4 mg 100 g-1 of lycopene in light red fruits, while in red fruits, the increase was 0.9 mg 100 g-1. The PEDB film was the best to maintain the fresh mass and peel color, therefore it was indicated for the maintenance of these attributes. The Vegetal Pack film showed no advantage in relation to the PET perforated packaging.

Lakes El Sol and La Luna, inside the crater of the Nevado de Toluca volcano, Central Mexico, are the only two perennial high mountain lakes [HML] in the country. HML are considered among the most comparable ecosystems worldwide. These lakes are “extreme” environments with diluted, oligotrophic, and cold waters exposed to high UV radiation doses. In this paper, we document the phytoplankton species inhabiting these two extreme tropical ecosystems. The phytoplankton diversity of Lakes El Sol and La Luna is low compared to the global phytoplankton diversity from other Mexican inland waters. Nonetheless, the phytoplankton diversity turned out to be high compared to other HML worldwide, both temperate and tropical. The phytoplankton community in Lake El Sol was formed by 92 morphospecies and in Lake La Luna by 63; in both, the most diverse groups were Bacillariophyceae and Chlorophyceae. All species found in Lake La Luna were present in Lake El Sol, but 29 species present in Lake El Sol were absent in Lake La Luna. Nevertheless, 57% of the most frequent and abundant taxa in Lake El Sol were rare in La Luna, and 47% of the most frequent and abundant taxa in Lake La Luna were rare in Lake El Sol. Associated with their shallowness and polymictic thermal pattern, 87.5% of the Bacillariophyceae morphospecies are tychoplantonic, while the remaining 12.5% are truly planktonic. Dominant taxa were Chlorophyceae in Lake El Sol and Cyanobacteria in Lake La Luna. The most extreme conditions of Lake La Luna (ultraoligotrophy, very low pH, high ultraviolet radiation) most likely explained the differences in the dominant species composition and lower species richness compared to Lake El Sol. Herein, we provide for the first time a taxonomic list of the phytoplankton community of Lakes El Sol and La Luna. This information constitutes a baseline needed to use these HML as sentinels of global and climate change.

Abstract The present study compares two synthesis routes to obtain titanium dioxide and reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites that could be used as photoelectrodes in a water-splitting photoelectrocatalytic system. The nanocomposites were obtained using in-situ sol-gel and solvothermal methods as fabrication routes. Subsequently, the materials obtained were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy techniques. The results indicated a strong interaction between reduced graphene oxide and titanium dioxide nanomaterials using both synthesis processes; however, the in-situ sol-gel method exhibited more significant conservation of the aromatic rings of the graphene structure and a lower bandgap (2.45 eV), which are suitable characteristics for its potential use in photoelectrocatalytic processes.

Les systèmes agroforestiers contribuent comme les forêts à la conservation physique et chimique du sol, à la régulation thermique et à la conservation de la biodiversité. Cette étude visait à caractériser la communauté des espèces ligneuses alimentaires dans quatre systèmes agroforestiers périphériques au noyau central de la Forêt Classée de la Lama. Au total, 770 placeaux carrés (30 m x 30 m) ont été installés de façon aléatoire dans les champs, plantations privées, jardins de case et jachères. Dans chaque placeau, des mesures dendrométriques (diamètre) ont été effectuées sur les individus de diamètre ≥ 5 cm à 1,30 m du sol. L’indice de similarité de Jaccard et le diagramme de Venn ont permis d’évaluer la similarité entre les systèmes agroforestiers. La valeur la plus élevée de l’indice de Shannon a été enregistrée dans les jachères. La structure en diamètre des ligneux présentait une prédominance des sujets de petit diamètre [5-25 cm [. Les jardins de case étaient les seuls regroupant des individus de petites tailles. Une faible variation floristique a été observée entre les systèmes. Il devient impérieux d’intervenir afin d’assurer la conservation de ces espèces.
English title: Diversity and conservation status of woody food species at the periphery of the Lama forest reserve (Benin)
Agroforestry systems, like forests, contribute to the physical and chemical conservation of the soil, to thermal regulation and to the biodiversity conservation. The study aimed to characterize the community of edible woody species in four agroforestry surrounding the central core of the Lama Forest Reserve. A total of 770 square plots (30m x 30m) were randomly installed in fields, private plantations, home gardens and fallows. In each plot, dendrometric measurements (diameter) were taken on individuals with a diameter ≥ 5 cm at 1.30 m from the ground. Jaccard similarity index and Venn diagram were used to assess the similarity between agroforestry systems. Species density varied significantly from fields to home gardens. The diameter structure of the woody plants showed a predominance of small diameter individuals [5-35 cm [. The home gardens were the only ones gathering individuals of small sizes. A low floristic variation was observed between the systems. It becomes imperative to intervene to ensure the conservation of these species.

Etant donné leur texture sableuse, les sols de la zone côtière de la province de Thua Thien Hue au Centre Vietnam présentent un milieu particulier pour le développement des organismes du sol, dont les vers de terre représentent 70% de la biomasse. Cette étude met en relation les caractéristiques du sol et les communautés de vers de terre, après identification de ceux-ci. Sept espèces appartenant aux familles des Glossoscolecidae, des Megascolecidae et des Microchaetidae ont été relevées : Pontoscolex corethrurus, Glyphidrilus papillatus, Pheretima rodericensis, Pheretima danangana, Pheretima sp., Perionyx excavatus, et Lampito mauritii. Les Microchaetidae sont présents quelque soit la richesse du sol et constituent la famille dominante dans les sols acides à forte teneur en limon et argile. Les deux autres familles sont associées à des sols pauvres mais moins acides, riches en sable. Il ressort également de cette étude que le nombre de P. corethrurus est significativement plus important dans les vergers (AF) alors que L mauritii est significativement plus présent dans les sols avec des autres cultures que le riz (AC). G. papillatus, significativement plus abondant dans les friches, est la seule espèce retrouvée dans ce milieu. L'étude de la diversité (Indice de Shannon-Wiener) montre que les cultures autres que le riz (AC) présentent la plus grande diversité de vers de terre (H' = 0,97) alors que les friches ne présentent aucune diversité.

The sol-gel method is a widely adopted technique for the preparation of tungsten trioxide (WO₃) materials, favored for its cost-effectiveness and straightforward production procedures. However, this method encounters challenges such as prolonged annealing periods and limited flexibility in fabricating patterned WO₃ films. This study introduces a novel approach that integrates femtosecond laser processing with the sol-gel method to enhance the fabrication of WO₃ films. By adjusting polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) concentrations during sol-gel synthesis, precise control over film thickness and optimized film properties were achieved. The innovative technique significantly reduced the annealing time required to achieve an 80% transmittance rate from 90 min to 40 min, marking a 56% decrease. Laser processing increased the surface roughness of the films from Sa = 0.032 to Sa = 0.119, facilitating enhanced volatilization of organics during heat treatment. Additionally, this method improved the transmittance modulation of the films by 22% at 550 nm compared to unprocessed counterparts. This approach not only simplifies the manufacturing process but also enhances the optical efficiency of electrochromic devices, potentially leading to broader applications and more effective energy conservation strategies.

L’agriculture climato-intelligente (Climate Smart Agriculture) vise à lutter contre le changement climatique et à s’y adapter tout en combattant l’insécurité alimentaire. À Madagascar, différentes pratiques agricoles ont été testées depuis une vingtaine d’années par des organisations non gouvernementales et des institutions de recherche afin d’accroître les rendements, maintenir la fertilité des sols et augmenter les revenus des ménages. Ces pratiques sont l’agriculture de conservation, l’agroforesterie et l’utilisation d’intrants ou d’amendements organiques comme le compost ou le fumier. Cette étude a pour objet de documenter les impacts de quelques pratiques d’agriculture climato-intelligente sur le stockage du carbone dans le sol. Les résultats montrent que le stock de carbone des sols varie fortement d’une pratique à l’autre. Pour l’agriculture de conservation, la différence de stock varie de 0 à 1,82 Mg C ha−1 an−1par rapport à la pratique traditionnelle (labour et exportation des résidus). Pour l’agroforesterie, la différence de stock entre des systèmes rizicoles sous girofliers et des pratiques de riziculture sur brûlis est de 0,68 Mg C ha−1 an−1. L’utilisation d’apports organiques comme le fumier, le compost ou les déchets urbains a induit des augmentations de carbone du sol de 0,16, 0,81 et 0,42 Mg C ha−1 an−1, mais les effets de ces apports organiques ne sont pas significatifs du fait de la très grande variabilité inter-parcellaire des stocks mesurés. Les pratiques d’agriculture climato-intelligente permettent ainsi d’augmenter la teneur en carbone du sol et ont donc des potentiels d’atténuation du changement climatique, mais ce potentiel est très variable selon la pratique considérée. Un éventuel impact à l’échelle du pays dépendra de l’étendue de l’adoption de ces différentes pratiques.

Dans les régions méditerranéennes, les défis posés par les changements climatiques, marqués par des périodes de sécheresse prolongées et des températures en augmentation, ont mis en avant l'irrigation comme une réponse essentielle pour diminuer les impacts sur les rendements des cultures et l'équilibre hydrique des sols. Toutefois, l'augmentation de l'usage de l'eau pour l'irrigation, particulièrement dans les régions méridionales, présente des défis majeurs en termes de prélèvements d'eau. Pour aborder ces défis, la transition vers une agriculture agroécologique, notamment via l'adoption de l'agriculture de conservation des sols (ACS), se dessine comme une solution prometteuse. Les recherches indiquent que l'ACS favorise l'infiltration et la rétention de l'eau, offrant ainsi une opportunité pour optimiser l'utilisation de l'eau d'irrigation. Un projet de recherche en cours à la Société du Canal de Provence et à INRAE Montpellier se concentre sur cette transition en évaluant l'évolution des propriétés du sol à la suite de l'adoption de l'ACS et en analysant ses performances en termes de gestion de l'irrigation. Ce projet se décline en trois objectifs principaux, allant de la caractérisation des propriétés du sol et des pratiques d'irrigation à l'adaptation de modèles de simulation pour optimiser l'irrigation des cultures en ACS. Des résultats préliminaires sont présentés, exposant les effets à court terme de l'ACS sur les propriétés hydrodynamiques du sol et les performances agronomiques après son adoption, ainsi que l'importance temporelle des pratiques de conservation, susceptibles de produire des effets différents à long terme. De plus, des premières simulations ont été réalisées pour valider le modèle Optirrig ACS. La finalisation du projet est envisagée pour la fin de 2024.

Objectif de recherche:L’objectif de cet article consiste à évaluer et quantifier les impacts de défrichement sur les sols: La perte de fertilité des sols défrichés a été évaluée à l'aide d'analyses physico-chimiques des sols sous forêt (Chêne vert), et dans des terrains de parcours et les parcelles défrichées Transformées en terres arables depuis longtemps (+10 ans).Méthodologie:La simulation de pluies (avec simulateur simple) a été utilisée pour évaluer les impacts du défrichement et de la mise en culture sur le comportement hydrodynamique du sol. Résultats: Les résultats obtenus montent que la dégradation des forêts, a des conséquences négatives sur le milieu naturel. Premièrement le sol devient instable sous les effets du piétinement du cheptel et les labours successifs. Deuxièmementil y a réduction des réserves du sol, à savoir la matière organique qui baisse de 33,61% de sa teneur initiale, l’augmentation du taux l’azote minéral est passé de 1,61 à 7,73 mg/100g. Troisièmement, les pertes en sols par l'érosion hydrique ont atteint 0,85 t/ha pourune séquence de précipitation de 80 mm h-1 pendant 45 minutes. Les résultats expérimentaux de cette analyse au niveau de la dépression Ain Nokra montrent le rôle non négligeable des écosystèmes forestiers bien conservés dans la protection du sol contre l'érosion hydrique, et dans la conservation des ressources en eau.Originalité/Valeur : Cette étude représente la première simulation de l'érosion au niveau d'Ain Nokra (Moyen Atlas). Sur le plan scientifique, cet article aborde le rôle de la végétation dans la préservation des sols contre l'érosion, ainsi que son impact dans l'enrichissementdu sol en matières organiques

Present paper provides information on the impact of climate changes on diurnal rhythms of the four passerines viz, house sparrow (Passer domesticus Linn.), rosy starling (Pastor roseus Linn.), tree swallows (Tachycineta bicolor Hirun.), and brown shrike (Lanius cristatus Linn.) for two years period in the four major agricultural habitats viz. Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Toba Tek Singh and Khanewal of Central Punjab, Pakistan. Effects of climate catastrophe have been seriously recognized as important inhibitory factors for birds’ sustainable existence and conservation. Among the four habitats, present within 120 kilometre radius from Faisalabad district, observations were conducted weekly on active and passive foraging, and the roost exits and returns throughout the day. Weather changes viz. temperature, precipitation and relative humidity were critically recorded. Impacts of temperature were significant and resulted in decline of the active foraging for the four designated birds (β= -2.36, -1.93,-2.15 and -1.64) whereas, precipitation due to its lowered frequency, exerted negative influence on the house sparrow and brown shrike, but was non-significant for rosy starling and tree swallows. Overall, temperature and relative humidity (RH) were the foremost climate factors and largely reduced the foraging and roosting movements of the four passerine birds’. Nonetheless, effects of lowered rainfall for the four habitats throughout this study were non-significant.

This paper aims to provide original information on the eco-morphology of Sarmatian rat snake, Elaphe sauromates (Pallas, 1814) (Reptilia Serpentes Colubridae), which inhabits Greek Thrace. To this end, research was conducted in May, from 2013 to 2017, along the coastline of north-eastern Greece. Regarding morphology, numerous data on size (of both juveniles and adults), pholidosis (head, trunk and tail) and color development are provided. The absence of E. sauromates on the arid Aegean Islands underscores its reliance on high humidity conditions for survival, a trait further evident in the various environments it frequents on the continent. The trophic spectrum of E. sauromates primarily consists of birds (mostly nestlings) and their eggs, as also evidenced by the structure of its cervical tract; similar dietary tendencies appear to be present in its sister species, E. quatuorlineata. As for its reproductive cycle, three females were followed from copulation to oviposition; four of the offspring (2 males, 2 females) were reared until sexual maturity, and variations in length, weight and habitus were recorded annually. Information is also provided on behavior, predators, parasites and conservation problems. Finally, the three species of the group E. sauromates (s.l.), E. sauromates, E. urartica, E. druzei are compared, with comments on cryptic species.

Les paiements pour services environnementaux (PSE) sont un outil économique d’incitation de plus en plus utilisé pour la conservation des bassins versants. En se basant sur la notion des services environnementaux, il permet de concilier plusieurs objectifs de conservation au niveau des bassins versants pour une finalité d’amélioration des attributs qui caractérisent les ressources en eau. L’amélioration de la disponibilité de l’eau en surface et en sous-sol, ainsi que l’amélioration de sa qualité par la réduction de l’érosion hydrique et la filtration des nitrates, sont des exemples de services qui permettent de renforcer la conservation des bassins versants et d’améliorer l’efficacité économique des investissements. Au Maroc, la conservation des bassins versants a traversé des étapes importantes vers la mise en place d’une gestion intégrée, toutefois les PSE ne sont pas encore mis en oeuvre. Leur introduction au niveau du pays permettra des apports et sera en même temps contrariée par un certain nombre de limites. L’article présente la notion de services environnementaux et les fondements économiques des PSE, puis apporte un point de vue et des propositions quant à leur mise en oeuvre pour améliorer la conservation des bassins versants dans le contexte spécifique du Maroc.

La présente recherche est une contribution à la compréhension du rôle des Outils d’Information et de Communication (OIC) dans la diffusion des mesures de Gestion Durable des Terres (GDT) à travers une évaluation de la perception des producteurs de l’efficacité de ces outils. Elle s’est déroulée à Banikoara, une commune caractérisée par une forte dégradation des sols et qui bénéficie des interventions du Projet Protection et Réhabilitation des Sols pour améliorer la sécurité alimentaire. Les données ont été collectées au moyen d’un questionnaire et d’un guide d’entretien auprès d’un échantillon aléatoire simple de 150 producteurs. La statistique descriptive et l’analyse en composante principales ont été utilisées pour analyser les caractéristiques des enquêtés et l’utilisation des OIC. Des résultats obtenus, la radio, les formations après Assemblées Générales Villageoises, les projections vidéos SOL-Mobil et les foires agricoles constituent les principaux outils utilisés pour la diffusion des mesures GDT. Près de 63,33% des producteurs obtiennent les informations sur les mesures GDT à la fois par les formations, la radio et la projection vidéo SOL-Mobil, 20% obtiennent à la fois par les formations et la projection vidéo SOL-Mobil et 5,33% par les formations. Par ailleurs, l’usage des OIC a un effet positif sur la diffusion des mesures et a permis l’adoption de trois principales mesures GDT dont la Gestion Intégrée de la Fertilité des sols (68%), l’Agriculture de conservation (83,33%) et la Conservation des eaux et des sols (16,66%). Pour rendre l’usage des OIC plus efficace, il importe de lever les contraintes liées à une faible mobilisation des producteurs, au défaut d’énergie électrique, aux difficultés d’accès aux intrants et à un suivi rapproché des producteurs, et celles de la protection des résidus de récolte contre les feux de végétation incontrôlés.
