Electronic spectra are reported for the hypoiodite ion (OI−), hypoiodous acid (HOI), and its conjugate acid (H2OI+) in aqueous media. Iodine in the +1 oxidation state was produced by either of the two rapid reactions[Formula: see text]or[Formula: see text]Spectroscopic evidence of the disproportionation of OI−/HOI/H2OI+ to iodide and iodate in basic media, and to iodine and iodate in acid media, was obtained. The results are consistent with previously reported values for the pKa of HOI and H2OI+.

Hoi An was one of the important economic, cultural, and commercial centres of Vietnam in the period of the XVI-XVIII centuries. The establishment and development of the Hoi An seaport were closely attached to the migration and trade of Chinese merchants in addition to the favourable policies of the Nguyen lords. Together with Japanese and Vietnamese merchants, Hoa merchants carried out trading activities proactively and contributed a significant part to the domestic and foreign trade in Hoi An, making it a busy commercial centre and the largest seaport of Cochinchina in the 16th–18th centuries. However, so far, the study of the role of the Chinese in commercial activities in Hoi An has not been fully and systematically studied. Based on the results of previous researchers, the article focuses on understanding the process of migration of the Chinese to the land of Hoi An, and at the same time, outlines the exchange and trade activities, as well as the contributions of the Chinese people to the economic and social development of Cochinchina in particular, and Dai Viet in general.

Cardiorenal-endocrine responses to 3-h head-out immersion (HOI) (water temperature = 34.5 +/- 0.5 degrees C) were studied during day (0900–1400 h) and night (2300–0400 h) in six hydropenic male human subjects. Although HOI induced a reversible increase in urine flow in all subjects, the response was faster and greater in magnitude during the day compared with night (P less than 0.05). Na excretion and osmolal clearance (Cosm) also followed the identical response pattern as urine flow, and in fact, the HOI-induced diuresis was entirely accounted for by the increased Cosm. Endogenous creatinine clearance was not different between the day and the night and remained unchanged during HOI. Both plasma renin activity and aldosterone concentration and urinary aldosterone excretion were nearly twofold greater during the day compared with night before HOI but decreased to the same level during HOI in both daytime and the nighttime series (P less than 0.05). There was no correlation between the Na excretion rate and renin-aldosterone levels either before or during HOI. Plasma antidiuretic hormone (ADH) level was comparable between day and night before HOI and decreased to a similar level during HOI in both daytime and nighttime series (P less than 0.05 for nighttime HOI). Cardiac output increased from 3.3 1/min before HOI to 5–6 1/min during HOI without showing any significant circadian difference. Hematocrit, hemoglobin, and plasma concentrations remained unchanged under all conditions. It is concluded that the renal response to HOI is subject to nocturnal inhibition, which cannot be attributed to circadian differences in the degree of HOI-induced central blood pooling, renin-aldosterone, or ADH responses.

The present investigation was undertaken to test the hypothesis that a circadian variation in the atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) response is responsible for the nocturnal inhibition of renal responses to head-out immersion (HOI). Plasma ANF responses to a 3-h HOI (water temperature 34.5 +/- 0.5 degrees C) were studied during day (1000-1300) and night (2400-0300) in six hydropenic male human subjects. In agreement with the previous observations, the renal responses, especially the diuresis, to HOI were attenuated at night compared with the day; furthermore, plasma renin activity decreased to the same low level during HOI at both day and night. Plasma ANF during time control periods was 30-40 pg/ml without showing any circadian variation. Moreover, plasma ANF showed a similar twofold increase within 1 h of HOI and was maintained at this elevated level throughout the 3-h HOI period in both the daytime and the nighttime series. On termination of HOI, plasma ANF decreased linearly to the pre-HOI level within 1 h. Hematocrit during time control periods was higher during the day compared with the night (P less than 0.05). Although HOI appears to induce a transient increase in plasma volume (as indicated by decreases in hematocrit) during the 1 h of HOI, the magnitude of the decrease in the latter parameters was not different between day and night. It is concluded that nocturnal inhibition of renal responses to HOI cannot be fully accounted for by circadian differences in the ANF and fluid shift response to HOI.

Extreme instance imbalance among categories and combinatorial explosion make the recognition of Human-Object Interaction (HOI) a challenging task. Few studies have addressed both challenges directly. Motivated by the success of few-shot learning that learns a robust model from a few instances, we formulate HOI as a few-shot task in a meta-learning framework to alleviate the above challenges. Due to the fact that the intrinsic characteristic of HOI is diverse and interactive, we propose a Semantic-Guided Attentive Prototypes Network (SGAP-Net) to learn a semantic-guided metric space where HOI recognition can be performed by computing distances to attentive prototypes of each class. Specifically, the model generates attentive prototypes guided by the category names of actions and objects, which highlight the commonalities of images from the same class in HOI. In addition, we design a novel decision method to alleviate the biases produced by different patterns of the same action in HOI. Finally, in order to realize the task of few-shot HOI, we reorganize two HOI benchmark datasets, i.e., HICO-FS and TUHOI-FS, to realize the task of few-shot HOI. Extensive experimental results on both datasets have demonstrated the effectiveness of our proposed SGAP-Net approach.

This work is oriented toward the task of open-set Human Object Interaction (HOI) detection. The challenge lies in identifying completely new, out-of-domain relationships, as opposed to in-domain ones which have seen improvements in zero-shot HOI detection. To address this challenge, we introduce a simple Disentangled HOI Detection (DHD) model for detecting novel relationships by integrating an open-set object detector with a Visual Language Model (VLM). We utilize a disentangled image-text contrastive learning metric for training and connect the bottom-up visual features to text embeddings through lightweight unary and pair-wise adapters. Our model can benefit from the open-set object detector and the VLM to detect novel action categories and combine actions with novel object categories. We further present the VG-HOI dataset, a comprehensive benchmark with over 17k HOI relationships for open-set scenarios. Experimental results show that our model can detect unknown action classes and combine unknown object classes. Furthermore, it can generalize to over 17k HOI classes while being trained on just 600 HOI classes.

Most existing Human-Object Interaction (HOI) Detection methods rely heavily on full annotations with predefined HOI categories, which is limited in diversity and costly to scale further. We aim at advancing zero-shot HOI detection to detect both seen and unseen HOIs simultaneously. The fundamental challenges are to discover potential human-object pairs and identify novel HOI categories. To overcome the above challenges, we propose a novel End-to-end zero-shot HOI Detection (EoID) framework via vision-language knowledge distillation. We first design an Interactive Score module combined with a Two-stage Bipartite Matching algorithm to achieve interaction distinguishment for human-object pairs in an action-agnostic manner. Then we transfer the distribution of action probability from the pretrained vision-language teacher as well as the seen ground truth to the HOI model to attain zero-shot HOI classification. Extensive experiments on HICO-Det dataset demonstrate that our model discovers potential interactive pairs and enables the recognition of unseen HOIs. Finally, our method outperforms the previous SOTA under various zero-shot settings. Moreover, our method is generalizable to large-scale object detection data to further scale up the action sets. The tropospheric delay and gradients can be estimated using Global Positioning System (GPS) observations after removing the ionospheric delay, which has been widely used for atmospheric studies and forecasting. However, high-order ionospheric (HOI) delays are generally ignored in GPS processing to estimate atmospheric parameters. In this study, HOI effects on GPS-estimated tropospheric delay and gradients are investigated from two weeks of GPS data in June 2011 at selected GPS stations in Turkey. Results show that HOI effects are up to 6 mm on zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD), 4 mm on the North-South (NS) gradient and 12 mm on the East-West (EW) gradient during this period, but can reach over 30 mm in slant tropospheric delays. Furthermore, the HOI effects on tropospheric delay and gradient are larger in the daytime than the nighttime. Furthermore, HOI effects on tropospheric delay are further investigated on low and high solar activity days. The HOI effects on GPS estimated tropospheric delay and gradients in high solar activity days are higher than those in low solar activity days.

Exercise-induced production of interleukin (IL)-6 results in the expression of chemokine CXC-motif ligand 1 (CXCL1) in mice. Recent studies described the increase in serum IL-6 levels during immersion of subjects in hot water. The present study investigated the effects of a 20-min head-out water immersion in 42 °C water (hot-HOI) on serum concentrations of CXCL1 in eight healthy men. Venous blood samples were taken at rest, immediately after hot-HOI, as well as 1, 2, 3, and 4 h after hot-HOI for measurements of serum concentrations of CXCL1, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), while assessing counts of blood cells (CBC) and monitoring core temperature (Tcore). Tcore and serum IL-6 increased during hot-HOI and remained high until 4 h after hot-HOI. However, serum CXCL1, TNF-α, hsCRP, and CBC remained constant throughout the experiment. In conclusion, the results from our study demonstrated that 20-min hot-HOI increased serum IL-6, but not CXCL1 in healthy man.

After overnight food and fluid restriction, seven healthy old (62-74 yr) and eight young (21-28 yr) men were examined before, during, and after 3-h head-out immersion (HOI) in thermoneutral water (34.5 +/- 0.5 degrees C). On separate days, all subjects remained seated in air for 5 h to obtain the time control data. Although HOI induced a reversible increase in urine flow in all subjects, the response was faster and greater in magnitude in the elderly than in the young. Na excretion and osmolal clearance also followed a response pattern identical to that of urine flow; thus the HOI-induced diuresis was entirely osmotic. Endogenous creatinine clearance increased in the elderly at 2 h of HOI, suggesting an age-related modification in kidney hemodynamics. Although there was virtually the same cephalad blood shift (measured by impedance cardiography), mean arterial pressure significantly increased (P less than 0.05) during HOI in the elderly, which also indicated a different response of peripheral circulation to HOI in the elderly. Control level of plasma atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) was nearly twofold greater in the elderly compared with the young. The HOI induced a nearly fourfold increase in ANF in the elderly, whereas that for the young was threefold. Both plasma aldosterone and ADH responses to HOI were attenuated in the elderly compared with the young, which had no correlation with urine flow or Na excretion. It is concluded that the elderly release more ANF at a given cephalad volume expansion compared with the young, but the vasodilative reaction to ANF was attenuated in the elderly.

Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) may play a role in the natriuresis after acute circulatory challenges. To assess this role in head-out water immersion (HOI), we compared in clearance studies the effect of 3 h HOI with an equally natriuretic 3-h infusion of ANP [0.01 microgram.kg-1.min-1 human ANP-(99-126)] in seven healthy individuals taking a 100 mmol sodium diet. The studies were repeated after treatment with enalapril (20 mg twice daily), which in previous studies inhibited the natriuresis after ANP. HOI caused a natriuresis equal to that of ANP infusion despite an about five times smaller rise in plasma ANP. HOI increased and ANP decreased estimated renal plasma flow (ERPF). HOI increased maximal free water clearance and decreased fractional lithium reabsorption. ANP did not affect these variables but raised minimal urine osmolality. Enalapril enhanced the fall in ERPF caused by ANP and abolished its natriuretic effect; enalapril did not impair either the natriuresis after HOI or the increase in ERPF and the fall in lithium reabsorption. These data indicate that the low dosage of ANP causes natriuresis by reducing sodium absorption in a distal nephron target segment; enalapril impairs this effect, perhaps by enhancing ANP-induced vasoconstriction, which decreases delivery to this target segment. HOI, by increasing sodium delivery to this segment, is natriuretic despite only a small rise in plasma ANP. Enalapril does not impair these effects. Although a rise in plasma ANP may be one factor in the natriuresis of HOI, the present data speak against an exclusive role. Other factors determine the magnitude of the natriuretic response.

Detecting human-object interactions (HOI) in a few-shot setting remains a challenge. Existing meta-learning methods struggle to extract representative features for classification due to the limited data, while existing few-shot HOI models rely on HOI text labels for classification. Moreover, some query images may display visual similarity to those outside their class, such as similar backgrounds between different HOI classes. This makes learning more challenging, especially with limited samples. Bongard-HOI epitomizes this HOI few-shot problem, making it the benchmark we focus on in this paper. In our proposed method, we introduce novel label-uncertain query augmentation techniques to enhance the diversity of the query inputs, aiming to distinguish the positive HOI class from the negative ones. As these augmented inputs may or may not have the same class label as the original inputs, their class label is unknown. Those belonging to a different class become hard samples due to their visual similarity to the original ones. Additionally, we introduce a novel pseudo-label generation technique that enables a mean teacher model to learn from the augmented label-uncertain inputs. We propose to augment the negative support set for the student model to enrich the semantic information, fostering diversity that challenges and enhances the student’s learning. Experimental results demonstrate that our method sets a new state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance by achieving 68.74% accuracy on the Bongard-HOI benchmark, a significant improvement over the existing SOTA of 66.59%. In our evaluation on HICO-FS, a more general few-shot recognition dataset, our method achieves 73.27% accuracy, outperforming the previous SOTA of 71.20% in the 5- way 5-shot task.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of head-out-of-water immersion (HOI) on elderly subjects’ heart rate (HR) and oxygen uptake (V̇O2) responses to graded walking exercise. Subjects were 15 elderly participants. who selected three walking speeds and exercised for 6 min at each intensity on land and in the water. HOI exercise was carried out with subjects immersed to the level of the axilla. HR response at a given V̇O2 during walking with HOI was similar to the values found for walking on land, in contrast to published data on young subjects. The findings are consistent with the hypothesis that water immersion-induced central redistribution of blood volume changes with advancing age and may lead to a difference in the HR–V̇O2 relationship during HOI walking in the elderly compared to the young. This has important implications for prescribing exercise to the elderly when using treadmill HR values for HOI walking training.

Human-Object Interaction (HOI) detection is an essential task to understand human-centric images from a fine-grained perspective. Although end-to-end HOI detection models thrive, their paradigm of parallel human/object detection and verb class prediction loses two-stage methods' merit: object-guided hierarchy. The object in one HOI triplet gives direct clues to the verb to be predicted. In this paper, we aim to boost end-to-end models with object-guided statistical priors. Specifically, We propose to utilize a Verb Semantic Model (VSM) and use semantic aggregation to profit from this object-guided hierarchy. Similarity KL (SKL) loss is proposed to optimize VSM to align with the HOI dataset's priors. To overcome the static semantic embedding problem, we propose to generate cross-modality-aware visual and semantic features by Cross-Modal Calibration (CMC). The above modules combined composes Object-guided Cross-modal Calibration Network (OCN). Experiments conducted on two popular HOI detection benchmarks demonstrate the significance of incorporating the statistical prior knowledge and produce state-of-the-art performances. More detailed analysis indicates proposed modules serve as a stronger verb predictor and a more superior method of utilizing prior knowledge. We update the list of gobiid species in the Hoi estuary; it now includes 18 species.

To test the hypothesis that the inhibitory action of central blood volume expansion on thirst and renal fluid regulation is attenuated with aging, we monitored the drinking and renal responses of dehydrated older (70 +/- 2 yr, n = 6) and younger (24 +/- 1 yr, n = 6) subjects during 195 min of head-out water immersion (HOI), which shifts blood centrally and increases plasma volume (PV). Subjects dehydrated by exercising for 2 h at 36 degrees C in the evening and refraining from fluids overnight before HOI in 34 degrees C water or a seated control in water perfusion suit [time control (TC)] the next morning. Ad libitum water intake was allowed after 15 min of HOI. Dehydration decreased PV by 10.6 +/- 1 and 7.3 +/- 1.8% (P < 0.05) and increased plasma osmolality by 6 +/- 2 and 7 +/- 1 mosmol/kg H2O (P < 0.05) in older and younger subjects, respectively. Thirst ratings increased in both groups, but pre-HOI thirst perception on a line rating scale was lower in older (69 +/- 8 mm) than younger (94 +/- 6 mm, P < 0.05) subjects. Fifteen minutes of HOI restored PV by 7.8 +/- 1.0 and 5.7 +/- 1.0% in older and younger subjects, respectively, but suppressed thirst rating in younger subjects only (P < 0.05). Fluid intake was reduced in HOI compared with TC in younger (6.3 +/- 0.5 vs. 14.3 +/- 2.2 ml/kg, P < 0.05) but not in older (6.7 +/- 2.1 vs. 8.4 +/- 3.3 ml/kg) subjects. During HOI, older subjects had smaller suppression of plasma renin activity and aldosterone concentration but a greater increase in the plasma atrial natriuretic peptide concentration (P[ANP], P < 0.05). HOI increased fractional sodium excretion in both groups, but mean arterial pressure increased only in the older subjects (P < 0.05). We conclude that the inhibitory influence of central volume expansion on thirst and drinking behavior is diminished with aging. Furthermore, in contrast to younger people, HOI natriuresis is associated with exaggerated increases in P[ANP] and arterial blood pressure in older people, suggesting arterial baroreceptors may be involved in the fluid regulatory response to central blood volume expansion in older people.

Human-Object Interaction (HOI) detection plays a vital role in scene understanding, which aims to predict the HOI triplet in the form of . Existing methods mainly extract multi-modal features (e.g., appearance, object semantics, human pose) and then fuse them together to directly predict HOI triplets. However, most of these methods focus on seeking for self-triplet aggregation, but ignore the potential cross-triplet dependencies, resulting in ambiguity of action prediction. In this work, we propose to explore Self- and Cross-Triplet Correlations (SCTC) for HOI detection. Specifically, we regard each triplet proposal as a graph where Human, Object represent nodes and Action indicates edge, to aggregate self-triplet correlation. Also, we try to explore cross-triplet dependencies by jointly considering instance-level, semantic-level, and layout-level relations. Besides, we leverage the CLIP model to assist our SCTC obtain interaction-aware feature by knowledge distillation, which provides useful action clues for HOI detection. Extensive experiments on HICO-DET and V-COCO datasets verify the effectiveness of our proposed SCTC.

Human–object interaction (HOI) detection identifies a “set of interactions” in an image involving the recognition of interacting instances and the classification of interaction categories. The complexity and variety of image content make this task challenging. Recently, the Transformer has been applied in computer vision and received attention in the HOI detection task. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel Part Refinement Tandem Transformer (PRTT) for HOI detection. Unlike the previous Transformer-based HOI method, PRTT utilizes multiple decoders to split and process rich elements of HOI prediction and introduces a new part state feature extraction (PSFE) module to help improve the final interaction category classification. We adopt a novel prior feature integrated cross-attention (PFIC) to utilize the fine-grained partial state semantic and appearance feature output obtained by the PSFE module to guide queries. We validate our method on two public datasets, V-COCO and HICO-DET. Compared to state-of-the-art models, the performance of detecting human–object interaction is significantly improved by the PRTT.

Abstract The number of older adults with criminal justice system involvement has increased by more than 280% since 1999. Previous studies show that justice-involved older adults have rates of chronic disease similar to those of the never-incarcerated; however, no studies have evaluated differences in disease management between groups. We examined associations between history of incarceration (HOI) and diabetes management using data from the Health and Retirement Study, a population-based sample of community-dwelling older adults. HOI was assessed via self-report. We assessed diabetes management via self-report/objective health indicators, health service utilization, and health behaviors. We used logistic and linear regression to evaluate associations between HOI and diabetes management, controlling for demographic characteristics. HOI was associated with fewer dental visits (OR: 0.069; 95% CI: 0.531, 0.917) and greater odds of insulin use (OR: 1.52, 95% CI: 1.13, 2.05), tooth loss (OR: 1.94, 95% CI 1.43, 2.65), foot swelling (OR: 1.44, 95% CI: 1.08, 1.90) and hospitalization in the last 2 years, (OR: 1.47, 95% CI: 1.12, 1.92). There was no association between HOI and other measures of diabetes management. Associations between tooth loss, dental visits, and incarceration were observed among White but not Black participants. Findings suggest that HOI may be associated with poorer diabetes management practices in some domains. Future research should identify interventions that improve diabetes-relevant outcomes among justice-involved older adults.

Human-object interactions (HOI) recognition and pose estimation are two closely related tasks. Human pose is an essential cue for recognizing actions and localizing the interacted objects. Meanwhile, human action and their interacted objects’ localizations provide guidance for pose estimation. In this paper, we propose a turbo learning framework to perform HOI recognition and pose estimation simultaneously. First, two modules are designed to enforce message passing between the tasks, i.e. pose aware HOI recognition module and HOI guided pose estimation module. Then, these two modules form a closed loop to utilize the complementary information iteratively, which can be trained in an end-to-end manner. The proposed method achieves the state-of-the-art performance on two public benchmarks including Verbs in COCO (V-COCO) and HICO-DET datasets.

The critical task of recognizing human–object interactions (HOI) finds its application in the domains of surveillance, security, healthcare, assisted living, rehabilitation, sports, and online learning. This has led to the development of various HOI recognition systems in the recent past. Thus, the purpose of this study is to develop a novel graph-based solution for this purpose. In particular, the proposed system takes sequential data as input and recognizes the HOI interaction being performed in it. That is, first of all, the system pre-processes the input data by adjusting the contrast and smoothing the incoming image frames. Then, it locates the human and object through image segmentation. Based on this, 12 key body parts are identified from the extracted human silhouette through a graph-based image skeletonization technique called image foresting transform (IFT). Then, three types of features are extracted: full-body feature, point-based features, and scene features. The next step involves optimizing the different features using isometric mapping (ISOMAP). Lastly, the optimized feature vector is fed to a graph convolution network (GCN) which performs the HOI classification. The performance of the proposed system was validated using three benchmark datasets, namely, Olympic Sports, MSR Daily Activity 3D, and D3D-HOI. The results showed that this model outperforms the existing state-of-the-art models by achieving a mean accuracy of 94.1% with the Olympic Sports, 93.2% with the MSR Daily Activity 3D, and 89.6% with the D3D-HOI datasets.

Observation, interview and literature study, with the purposive sampling technique are chosen as the method of data collection. The informants of the research was the designer of infographics in House of Infographics (HOI). The results of the study showed that visual literacy patterns formed in interpreting visual objects in HOI, by reading and understanding the basic concepts of design. In creating infographics,infographic designer has workflows, which are brainstorming activities, information and data collection, content determination, narrative preparation, information visualization design, and infographics publication.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan pola literasi visual infografer dalam pembuatan informasi grafis di House of Infographics (HOI). Ruang lingkup penelitian ini ialah kemampuan desainer infografer dalam menafsirkan objek visual dan menciptakan infografis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus kualitatif melalui observasi, wawancara dan studi pustaka, dengan teknik purposive sampling dipilih sebagai metode pengumpulan data. <abstract><p>We adopted the method of knowledge mapping to conduct in-depth visualization to propose the construction method of knowledge mapping-based inference of a healthy operation index in higher education (HOI-HE). For the first part, an improved named entity identification and relationship extraction method is developed, incorporating a vision sensing pre-training algorithm named BERT. For the second part, a multi-decision model-based knowledge graph is used to infer the HOI-HE score by using a multi-classifier ensemble learning approach. The combination of two parts constitutes a vision sensing-enhanced knowledge graph method. The functional modules of knowledge extraction, relational reasoning and triadic quality evaluation are integrated to provide the digital evaluation platform for the HOI-HE value. The vision sensing-enhanced knowledge inference method for the HOI-HE is able to exceed the benefit of pure data-driven methods. The experimental results in some simulated scenes show that the proposed knowledge inference method can work well in the evaluation of a HOI-HE, as well as to discover some latent risk.</p></abstract>

Human object interaction detection aims at localizing human-object pairs and recognizing their interactions. Trapped by the long-tailed distribution of the data, existing HOI detection methods often have difficulty recognizing the tail categories. Many approaches try to improve the recognition of HOI tasks by utilizing external knowledge (e.g. pre-trained visual-language models). However, these approaches mainly utilize external knowledge at the HOI combination level and achieve limited improvement in the tail categories. In this paper, we propose a dual-prior augmented decoding network by decomposing the HOI task into two sub-tasks: human-object pair detection and interaction recognition. For each subtask, we leverage external knowledge to enhance the model's ability at a finer granularity. Specifically, we acquire the prior candidates from an external classifier and embed them to assist the subsequent decoding process. Thus, the long-tail problem is mitigated from a coarse-to-fine level with the corresponding external knowledge. Our approach outperforms existing state-of-the-art models in various settings and significantly boosts the performance on the tail HOI categories. Human-Object Interaction (HOI) detection is a fundamental task in high-level human-centric scene understanding. We propose PhraseHOI, containing a HOI branch and a novel phrase branch, to leverage language prior and improve relation expression. Specifically, the phrase branch is supervised by semantic embeddings, whose ground truths are automatically converted from the original HOI annotations without extra human efforts. Meanwhile, a novel label composition method is proposed to deal with the long-tailed problem in HOI, which composites novel phrase labels by semantic neighbors. Further, to optimize the phrase branch, a loss composed of a distilling loss and a balanced triplet loss is proposed. Extensive experiments are conducted to prove the effectiveness of the proposed PhraseHOI, which achieves significant improvement over the baseline and surpasses previous state-of-the-art methods on Full and NonRare on the challenging HICO-DET benchmark.

Considering the potential resources related to human factors, cultural heritage to develop tourism is the desire of tourism managers. The study used the Hilary du Cros method to evaluate the tourism value of the World Cultural Heritage: Hoi An Ancient Town. There are two surveyed sample groups: the first group is The Tourism Management Group with N1 = 88 and the second group is The Tourist Group with N2 = 220 to determine the points to evaluate the appeal market and robusticity in tourism exploitation at the destination of Hoi An Ancient Town. The evaluation results show that the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An Ancient Town has a strong market attraction, high cultural value, and sustainable development, located in cell M (1.3) in the appeal matrix and cultural values/ sustainable development of Hilary du Cros. The structure of this article explains the relationship between heritage value and ancient heritage houses, as well as the place and role of cultural sustainability in the overall framework of sustainable development. An in-depth literature analysis was conducted following a survey of five ancient houses in Hoi An to achieve these goals. Tourism carrying capacity is an important factor of sustainable tourism development policy for any destinations. Results from the capacity specifically forecast tourism impact on the destination's natural environment and also forecast the destination's life cycle. The focus of the article is to record the results from calculating the tourism capacity of Hoi An ancient town – a popular destination that has been overloaded recently. Based on Physical Carrying Capacity (PCC) and Effective Real Carrying Capacity (ERCC) and after eliminating the negative impact factor to ensure sustainable development, the maximum number of tourists permitted to visit Hoi An ancient town is 3.53 million per year. However, the number of tourists to Hoi An in 2019 was 5.35 million, surpassing the addressed limit of carrying capacity by 1.52 times. The author suggests a management policy with focus on (1) creating vacation time for the destination; (2) and redistributing key tourist markets for Hoi An ancient town. From the results of these two measures, the author gives some suggestions on management policies to restructure the tourist market in order to reduce the pressure on the carrying capacity of Hoi An ancient town and the heritage route in the Central of Viet Nam according to the goal of sustainable development.

By means of a fully connected artificial neural network, we identified asteroids with the potential to impact Earth. The resulting instrument, named the Hazardous Object Identifier (HOI), was trained on the basis of an artificial set of known impactors which were generated by launching objects from Earth’s surface and integrating them backward in time. HOI was able to identify 95.25% of the known impactors simulated that were present in the test set as potential impactors. In addition, HOI was able to identify 90.99% of the potentially hazardous objects identified by NASA, without being trained on them directly.

Human-object interaction (HOI) detection requires a large amount of annotated data. Current algorithms suffer from insufficient training samples and category imbalance within datasets. To increase data efficiency, in this paper, we propose an efficient and effective data augmentation method called DecAug for HOI detection. Based on our proposed object state similarity metric, object patterns across different HOIs are shared to augment local object appearance features without changing their states. Further, we shift spatial correlation between humans and objects to other feasible configurations with the aid of a pose-guided Gaussian Mixture Model while preserving their interactions. Experiments show that our method brings up to 3.3 mAP and 1.6 mAP improvements on V-COCO and HICO-DET dataset for two advanced models. Specifically, interactions with fewer samples enjoy more notable improvement. Our method can be easily integrated into various HOI detection models with negligible extra computational consumption.

Atmospheric delays, e.g., ionospheric delay and tropospheric delay, are the dominant error sources for the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), especially for Precise Point Positioning (PPP). The common method for eliminating ionospheric delay is to form an ionosphere-free (IF) observable, which is a linear combination of observables on two frequencies such as GPS L1 and L2. As for the tropospheric delay, the dry component can be precisely corrected by empirical models, while the wet component is usually estimated as unknowns. However, the higher-order ionospheric (HOI) terms are not totally cancelled out in the (first-order) IF observable and as such, when not accounted for, they degrade the accuracy of other parameters. The impact of HOI corrections is well documented in the literature. This paper investigates the temporal effects of HOI terms on estimated tropospheric parameters, i.e., zenith tropospheric wet delay (ZWD) and north and east gradients. For this purpose, observations from over 100 stations with good global coverage were used considering various geographic and geophysical conditions. The results of numerical experiments show that HOI effects have a significant impact on the estimated tropospheric parameters, and the influence is dependent on location and time. The maximum differences of ZWD estimates reach over 20 mm during periods of activity such as solar storms and geomagnetic storms. Additionally, the north gradients are more likely to be affected by HOI effects compared with east gradients. In particular, the tropospheric gradient component is most affected for low latitude station during daytime. Additionally, the effects of bending errors and HOI terms on slant tropospheric delay at low elevation angles are much larger than those at high elevation angles.

Two-dimensional models of large spatial domain including Cua Lo and Cua Hoi estuaries in Nghe An province, Vietnam, were established, calibrated, and verified with the observed data of tidal level, wave height, wave period, wave direction, and suspended sediment concentration. The model was then applied to investigate the hydrodynamics, cohesive sediment transport, and the morphodynamics feedbacks between two estuaries. Results reveal opposite patterns of nearshore currents affected by monsoons, which flow from the north to the south during the northeast (NE) monsoon and from the south to the north during the southeast (SE) monsoon. The spectral wave model results indicate that wave climate is the main control of the sediment transport in the study area. In the NE monsoon, sediment from Cua Lo port transported to the south generates the sand bar in the northern bank of the Cua Hoi estuary, while sediment from Cua Hoi cannot be carried to the Cua Lo estuary due to the presence of Hon Ngu Island and Lan Chau headland. As a result, the longshore sediment transport from the Cua Hoi estuary to the Cua Lo estuary is reduced and interrupted. The growth and degradation of the sand bars at the Cua Hoi estuary have a great influence on the stability of the navigation channel to Ben Thuy port as well as flood drainage of Lam River.

Men have never been absent from the arena of food preparation, although their participation has been primarily in the public sphere rather than the private domestic space. Men have also been involved in the preparation of traditional sweets and snacks in sweet shops and street stalls. On the other hand, women’s association with food preparation, especially traditional food preparation inside the household, still dominates the popular imagination in regions like South Asia. In Assam (India), pithas are an emblematic food item in the “Assamese” cultural landscape that is popularly perceived to be prepared by women. However, my ethnographic experience suggests that pitha preparation and sale can be studied in relation to performance of masculinities when it comes to the public urban space of Guwahati (Assam). As men have entered the public spaces as pitha sellers and to a large extent prepare it themselves, it was observed that bishakh (trust) is a crucial part of the diverse performance of masculinities and “Assameseness.” The perceptions, negotiations, and enactment with the concept of trust is a pivotal aspect of men entering an otherwise popularly imagined feminized zone of pitha preparation. It is important to attract buyers, wherein the ideal image remains that of a woman preparing traditional food using her manual labor. Further, this article argues that bishakh, which is significant in infusing “Assameseness” in buying and selling pithas, can also be understood at the cusp of contemporary regional politics in Assam, class markers, caste hierarchy, and religious indicators along with gender performance.

Cam Ha, Hoi An considered the “capital” of kumquats in the Central region with unique artistic shapes of kumquat trees by leading artisans of Cam Ha ornamental kumquats. Cam Ha kumquat trees have brought a significant source of income to local people and contributed to making the scent of Vietnamese spring days even more brilliant. The article examines the potential for developing individual startup business models on the basis of some typical examples of implementing the Kumquat startup model in Cam Ha - Hoi An. Besides, the article also mentions the difficulties for the startup model of trading products from Cam Ha Kumquat and proposes solutions to develop the startup business model from Kumquat in Cam Ha - Hoi An.

Abstract. Little attention has so far been paid to the nighttime atmospheric chemistry of iodine species. Current atmospheric models predict a buildup of HOI and I2 during the night that leads to a spike of IO at sunrise, which is not observed by measurements. In this work, electronic structure calculations are used to survey possible reactions that HOI and I2 could undergo at night in the lower troposphere, and hence reduce their nighttime accumulation. The new reaction NO3+ HOI → IO + HNO3 is proposed, with a rate coefficient calculated from statistical rate theory over the temperature range 260–300 K and at a pressure of 1000 hPa to be k(T) = 2.7 × 10−12 (300 K/T)2.66 cm3 molecule−1 s−1. This reaction is included in two atmospheric models, along with the known reaction between I2 and NO3, to explore a new nocturnal iodine radical activation mechanism. The results show that this iodine scheme leads to a considerable reduction of nighttime HOI and I2, which results in the enhancement of more than 25 % of nighttime ocean emissions of HOI + I2 and the removal of the anomalous spike of IO at sunrise. We suggest that active nighttime iodine can also have a considerable, so far unrecognized, impact on the reduction of the NO3 radical levels in the marine boundary layer (MBL) and hence upon the nocturnal oxidizing capacity of the marine atmosphere. The effect of this is exemplified by the indirect effect on dimethyl sulfide (DMS) oxidation.

Hemangiomas of infancy (HOIs) are among the most common benign tumors of childhood and classically appear as a vascular stain or small vascular papule at birth. They are unique tumors due to their propensity to proliferate, involute, and finally regress. These lesions can be associated with visceral malformations that have been shown to affect mainly the liver and the gastrointestinal tract, but rarely the spinal cord. The authors report a rare case of a spinal HOI in a 2-month-old infant presenting with quadriplegia due to intratumoral hemorrhage. Following resection of the lesion, the child regained function. This first reported case of spinal HOI suggests another location for hemangiomatosis. Spinal HOI should be included in the differential diagnosis of acute intraspinal hemorrhage in infants.

Despite this rich history, the researcher identified a notable gap in specific research documents concerning community activities. This article aims to bridge this gap by delving into the pottery community's activities in Thanh Ha before and after Hoi An's inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1999. This exploration sheds light on the changes in living conditions and community activities, highlighting the village's adaptation efforts in the face of Hoi An's recognition as a World Cultural Heritage city.
