A spectral magnetic models taking into account the different flux density harmonics and their sources are developed. The interaction of different space harmonics of the air-gap flux density is highlighted and modeled in order to evaluate their contributions to the levitation force and its ripples. These models allow the magnetic design of bearingless machines. In order to supply and control such machines, a specific lumped circuit model is developed. This study allows to design the optimal winding which minimizes the constraints on the converter. Finally, a specific prototype is designed and manufactured in order to validate theoretic results provided during this thesis

Повний текст джерелаThe interfacial tension is a physical-chemical property that numerous industrial areas have an interest of especially the petroleum industry. This property is one of the many which helps to optimize production wells' rate of return. Measuring that property in reservoir's conditions (high pressure and temperature) is highly difficult and led to study water/surfactant/oil systems using molecular modeling. The difficulty to measure that specific physical-chemical property linked to the pressure and temperature conditions in the reservoirs led the scientists to study water/surfactant/oil systems using molecular modeling. This thesis establishes that the Dissipative Particle Dynamics (DPD) is able to study water/surfactant/oil systems. The study of the effect of the variation of the harmonic force's parameters, namely the force constant K and the equilibrium distance r0, demonstrated that their variation can heavily influence the interfacial tension computation. Actually, a subtle balance exists between the intra and inter-molecular interactions, which influences the local structure of the surfactants at the oil-water interface, modifies the interfacial tension and influences the interface stability. It was demonstrated that DPD reproduces the variation of interfacial tension with the bulk surfactant concentration and the effect of the variation of hydrophobicity of models of un-charged surfactants on interfacial tension by mean of their coefficient partition. We established a method to properly study systems containing interfaces where interfacial tension is computed. Prospective work showed that DPD was a good tool to study microscopic phenomenon which can be observed macroscopically like the Ostwald ripening in oil in water emulsions. This is a first step before studying others systems of interest for the petroleum industry such as oil/water emulsion or the adsorption of oil droplets on rock wall

Повний текст джерелаThe thesis deals with magnetic gravity compensation. First of all magnetic levitation experiments are explained with the help of a magneto-gravitational potential SL. Next, a general analysis method of the magnetic force is developed which employs magnetic field harmonics. The method underlines both the significance and role of the first three magnetic field harmonics on the resulting forces inherent in magnetic gravity compensation. In cylindrical geometry – with translational invariance – various combination of magnetic, gravitational and centrifugal forces open new possibilities for the magnetic levitation. A suitable combination of both magnetic and centrifugal forces allows exactly compensating gravity on diamagnetic materials. In axisymmetric geometry – with rotational invariance – designs of feasible oxygen magnetic levitation stations are introduced (NbTi@4,2K). Levitation of oxygen volumes more than one litre with inhomogeneities less than 1% can be accomplished within these magnetic levitation facilities. The constitution of the stations makes possible both spatial and temporal variations of the resulting acceleration configurations. At last the dynamic magnetic compensation of gravity with a real coil system is studied so as to simulate both acceleration and deceleration of spaceships

Nous présentons les résultats de calculs théoriques de chimie quantique afin de proposer une étude ONL de ces complexes à l'échelle moléculaire. Enfin, nous complétons ce travail sur des complexes ruthéniumacétylure contenant un fragment azobenzène dans leur système organique p-conjugué, par la diffusion des rayons X aux grands angles (WAXS) et par l'étude, en régime picoseconde, de la dynamique de formation de réseaux de surface photo-induits (SRGs) en utilisant une technique d'holographie en transmission et la microscopie à force atomique (AFM).

Повний текст джерелаThe presence of magnetic stress harmonics inside the electrical machine is generally responsible for vibrations and acoustic noise generation. This phenomenon is called e-NVH (Noise, Vibrations and Harshness due to electromagnetic excitations) and has to be considered in the machine design to meet with NVH standard requirements, especially in automotive applications. The e-NVH assertion requires a multiphysics simulation including electromagnetic, mechanical and acoustic models, which must be fast and accurate especially for early design stages. This industrial PhD thesis takes part of the internal research program of EOMYS ENGINEERING company, which develops and commercializes MANATEE software, dedicated to the e-NVH simulation of electrical machines. In this modeling context, the present thesis investigates and extends the semi-analytical electromagnetic model, called Subdomain Method (SDM), for the computation of two-dimensional airgap magnetic stress harmonics in various topologies of electrical machines, mainly focusing on Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (SPMSMs) and Squirrel Cage Induction Machines (SCIMs). The thesis also investigates two scientific open questions concerning the contribution of circumferential excitations to the overall vibration level and the slotting modulation effect, which appears in electrical machines with a close number of poles and teeth. For this purpose, an experimental test rig including a particular noisy machine (a SPMSM with 12 slots and 10 poles) and appropriate sensors has been designed and built. The test rig also aims at benchmarking the different multiphysics models currently used in e-NVH simulation workflow

In this paper dealt on structural determination using theoretical methods. The dicyano-pyridium methylide has been chosen as model for the cycloimmonium ylides, taking in account its structure and the corresponding experimental data. Firstly, we have found that the semi empirical AM1 and PM3, together with DFT procedure, are appropriate methods in the characterization of this type of molecules. This is in a good agreement with the x-ray diffraction measurements. Next, we have proposed a modified forces field parametrization in order to extend the structural determination for more complex ylidic systems

Повний текст джерелаJean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764) has left five tragédies en musique: Hippolyte & Aricie (1733, second version in 1742, third in 1757), Castor & Pollux (1737 and 1754), Dardanus (1739 and 1744), Zoroastre (1749 and 1756) and Les Boréades (1764). This research is devoted to the study of the harmony implemented by the composer in these works, seen through the homogeneous corpus of the engraved scores. To this purpose, algorithmic procedures have been developed to assist the exhaustive analysis of the five tragédies’ music – the composer’s theoretical writing serving as reference to understand the scores’ harmonic figures. The analysis has been carried at all temporal scales, from the characterization of the overall form to the detail of the harmonic rhetoric in dialogs. Beyond the dramatic or performative structures of the operas, the musical shaping reveals a harmonic architecture of each work. Comparisons between the tragédies or with works by other composers offer new insights on Rameau’s particular musical style

Повний текст джерелаDuring our research, we are interested in studying of the figure of eight fiber laser based on the microstructured optical fiber and developing a 1.61 µm mode locked fiber laser from a C-band double-clad Er : Yb doped fiber amplifier. In the first step and based on a theoretical model, we have investigated the multi-pulse emission of a microstructured figure-of eight fiber laser operating in passive mode-locking. The proposed laser is mode locked by the nonlinear amplifying loop mirror (NALM). We further study the hysteresis dependence and the number of pulses in steady state as a function of both the small signal gain and the nonlinear coefficient of microstructured fiber. Our results demonstrate that the nonlinear coefficient of microstructured fiber plays a key role in the formation of multi-soliton. In the second step and based on the control of the linear losses of the cavity, we demonstrate the possibility to achieve filter less laser emission above 1.6 μm, from a C-band double-clad Er: Yb doped fiber amplifier, using a figure-of-eight geometry and a unidirectional ring cavity. We also reported a widely tunable mode locked fiber laser and harmonic mode locking of twin and third pulse around 1.61 µm

The exploitation of the properties of these functions of exchange can be considered in two different ways of study : - The global approach, rather competive in terms of analysing the behaviour of the thermal, but no very efficient in localizing and orientating the intervenings for the thermic conceiving of the wrapping. – The modular approach, more adapted for dealing and making clear, in their entirely, the aspects inherent in the problem of sizing. The latter reduces the study of a complex system to the study of its components, which is best mastered. The applications of this work are shown in the elaboration of a method for sizing buildings in natural air conditioning in the Ivory Coast, and in the contribution it makes to a guide for air conditioning in the DOM

Повний текст джерелаPumped-storage hydro power plants have been mainly working with fixed-speed synchronous motor-generators. However, using variable-speed machines and more particularly, Double-Fed Induction Machines (DFIM) brings many benefits: control of the power in pump mode, operation at the best efficiency point in turbine mode, higher stability in case of a perturbation. This work improves the knowledge of the electromagnetic behavior of the DFIM and proposes an optimization process of its design. The first part develops an analytical model standing mainly on the boundary element method and validates it using finite element simulations. This model makes it possible to consider several phenomena such as the magnetic circuit saturation, the harmonics generated by the stator and rotor windings and also the harmonics due to the doubly-slotted airgap. The second part applies the developed model to four subjects of interest for the machine designer: study of the no-load stator-voltage shape, calculation of the iron losses, electromagnetic torque harmonics and radial electromagnetic forces. Finally, the third part studies the dimensioning of the DFIM by using a genetic optimization algorithm. The process is applied to the transformation of an existing salient-pole synchronous machine into a DFIM. Two cases are treated: first, only the rotor is replaced while the stator remains unchanged and second, the machine is completely redesigned.Key words: Pumped-Storage Hydro Power Plants, Double-Fed Induction Machine, Salient-Pole Synchronous Machine, Modeling, Optimizing, Boundary-Element Method

Повний текст джерелаThe electromagnetic diffraction problem which is governed by the Maxwell equations admits an equivalent formulation in terms of a strongly singular volume integral equation. This thesis aims to examine the integral operator that describes this equation. The first part of this document focuses on the study of its essential spectrum. This analysis is interesting to get the necessary and sufficient conditions of solution uniqueness of the problem especially when we consider the diffraction of waves by negative materials where classic tools lose their usefulness. After justifying the adequate choice of the functional framework, we first study the case where the characteristics parameters of the medium like the electric permittivity and magnetic permeability are piecewise constant with discontinuity across the boundary of the target. In this context, we give a full answer to the question for smooth and Lipschitz domains. Then, by using a localization technique, we give an extension of those results in the case of piecewise regular parameters for two integrals operators, one which corresponds to the dielectric version of the problem and the other for its magnetic version. We end this thesis by the study of the shape derivative of the dielectric and magnetic operators and we derive a new characterization of the shape derivative of the two diffraction problems solution

Повний текст джерелаIn this thesis, we study the regularity of elliptic problems (Laplace, Helmholtz) or parabolic problems (heat equation) with measure data in different geometric frames. Thus, we consider for the second members, Dirac masses at a point, on a line, on a half-line, or on a bounded segment, and also on a regular curve. As the solutions of these problems are singular on the fracture (modeled by Dirac mass in the second member), we study their regularity in weighted Sobolev spaces. In the case of a straight fracture, using Fourier or Mellin technique reduces the problem in dimension three to a Helmholtz problem in dimension two. For the latter, we prove uniform estimates, which are then used to apply the inverse transform and to obtain the expected regularity result. Similarly, the Laplace transformation transforms the heat equation into the same Helmholtz equation in 2D. In the case of a smooth curve fracture, thanks to the results of [D'angelo:2012], using a localization argument and a dyadic recovery we get an improved smoothness of the solution always in weighted Sobolev spaces

Повний текст джерелаThis PhD thesis is dedicated to the study of the inverse problem of obstacle/object detection using optimization methods. This problem consists in localizing an unknown object omega inside a known bounded domain omega by means of boundary measurements and more precisely by a given Cauchy pair on a part Gammaobs of thetaOmega. We cover the scalar and vector scenarios for this problem considering both the Laplace and the Stokes equations. For both cases, we rely on identifiability result which ensures that there is a unique obstacle/object which corresponds to the considered boundary measurements. The strategy used in this work is to reduce the inverse problem into the minimization of a cost-type functional: the Kohn-Vogelius functional. This kind of approach is widely used and permits to use optimization tools for numerical implementations. However, in order to well-define the functional, this approach needs to assume the knowledge of a measurement on the whole exterior boundary thetaOmega. This last point leads us to first study the data completion problem which consists in recovering the boundary conditions on an inaccessible region, i.e. on thetaOmega\Gammaobs, from the Cauchy data on the accessible region Gammaobs. This inverse problem is also studied through the minimization of a Kohn-Vogelius type functional. The ill-posedness of this problem enforces us to regularize the functional via a Tikhonov regularization. We obtain several theoretical properties as convergence properties, in particular when data is corrupted by noise. Based on these theoretical results, we reconstruct numerically the boundary data by implementing a gradient algorithm in order to minimize the regularized functional. Then we study the obstacle detection problem when only partial boundary measurements are available. We consider the inaccessible boundary conditions and the unknown object as the variables of the functional and then, using geometrical shape optimization tools, in particular the shape gradient of the Kohn-Vogelius functional, we perform the numerical reconstruction of the unknown inclusion. Finally, we consider, into the two dimensional vector case, a new degree of freedom by studying the case when the number of objects is unknown. Hence, we use the topological shape optimization in order to minimize the Kohn-Vogelius functional. We obtain the topological asymptotic expansion of the solution of the 2D Stokes equations and characterize the topological gradient for this functional. Then we determine numerically the number and location of the obstacles. Additionally, we propose a blending algorithm which combines the topological and geometrical shape optimization methods in order to determine numerically the number, location and shape of the objects

In the first part, we present a work related to the probabilistic interpretation of the Poisson-Boltzmann equation. This equation describes the electrostatic potential of a molecular system. After an introduction to the Poisson-Boltzmann equation, we focus on the parabolic and linear equation. After extending an existence and uniqueness result for backward stochastic differential equations, we establish a probabilistic interpretation of the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation with backward stochastic differential equations. Believing that those two disciplines are closely related, I took most of my time as a master's student composing for orchestra and for choir, two ensembles that require a conductor. This way I could deepen my understanding of those "instruments" with the help of rigorous teachers at Université de Montréal's music faculty. At the same time, my conducting activities also had an influence on my understanding of those ensembles therefore on my composition. This work goes through the material I wrote for those ensembles, pinpointing where I felt my experience as a composer was growing, and where my experience as a conductor influenced my composition choices.

Il présente une analyse en détail de trois compositions d’instrumentations différentes : - Akme, pour piano seul - Les Yeux d’une fille dans un cimetière, pour piano, violon, violoncelle, flûte et clarinette - Epitafe, pour orchestre Avec des exemples musicaux tirés de ces trois compositions, j’étudie plusieurs volets de mon approche de la composition musicale, notamment les influences extra-musicales, la forme, la mélodie, l’harmonie et l’orchestration. En guise d’introduction, on retrouve également un chapitre qui traite de la place que les influences extra-musicales, la forme et la métrique occupent dans mon travail en général.
This memoir is a musical analysis of my musical language through the study of three of my recent works that were composed between 2011 and 2013. It presents a detailed analysis of three compositions of varied instrumentation : - Akme, for solo piano - Les Yeux d’une fille dans un cimetière, for piano, violin, cello, flute and clarinette - Epitafe, for orchestra With musical examples taken from these works, I study various components of my approach to musical composition such as extra-musical influences, form, melody, harmony and orchestration. As introduction to these studies, we find a chapter that speaks of the role that extra-musical influences, form and musical time holds in my work as a composer in general.

Повний текст джерелаCe mémoire atteste du résultat de mes deux années d’étude en composition à l’Université de Montréal. J’ai cherché à développé un langage musical personnel, bien qu’ancré dans la tradition et plus particulièrement dans l’héritable harmonique tonal, basé sur une utilisation plus ou moins libre d’accords par tierces superposées –bien que j’emprunte parfois d’autres langages harmoniques. De plus, j’ai voulu concilier la pratique de la composition dans les domaines de la musique de concert et de la musique de film, en démontrant comment ma démarche de créateur présente de nombreuses constantes indépendamment du champ dans lequel j’évolue. Celles-ci sont principalement de l’ordre de l’organisation musicale et de la structure formelle ainsi que, dans une moindre mesure, de détails harmoniques et contrapuntiques. Par exemple, j’aborde et je traite le leitmotiv (élément musical caractérisant un personnage, un lieu ou un sentiment en musique de film) de la même façon que j’ai recours extensivement aux motifs (unité minimale de signification musicale) dans ma musique de concert. La démonstration se fait à travers l’analyse et la critique d’extraits puisés à travers neuf œuvres de mon répertoire de concert et de musique à l’image.
This master’s thesis is the result of two years of studies in composition at the University of Montreal. Through my work, I have sought to develop a musical language of my own that is rooted in tradition and inspired by our vast tonal heritage. I use a mostly triad-based harmonic language while also borrowing from other techniques from time to time. Moreover, I have attempted to bring together my work as a concert composer and as a film music composer by showing how my compositional approach shares many common characteristics no matter the genre of music. These common features range from the way a piece is organized to how the form is underlined by musical means. To a lesser extent, harmonic and contrapuntal techniques might also be common elements. For instance, I have often been using the leitmotiv (a musical item that is associated with an on-screen element in film music) in the same way I use motives (the smallest elements of musical meaning one can perceive) as a mean of structuring my concert compositions. To make my point, I have analyzed and discussed many examples of nine of my works from both the concert or film music genres.
