This research’s goal was to investigate the existing challenges of the succession process of a family corporate group, aiming to develop strategies regarding the succession process through scenarios simulation. For this purpose, the Rojo’s Model for Scenarios Simulation was applied in all its five levels: Delphi technique, competitive intelligence, scenarios simulation, strategy formulation and action plans elaboration. The research applied a qualitative approach, consisting of an exploratory study, characterized as a case study. In order to achieve the critical variables which were necessary to feed the model, the Delphi technique was applied through semi structured interviews with five experts. In the aftermath of the critical variables’ choice and the application of the competitive intelligence tools, two different scenarios were simulated. For the first scenario four strategies were formulated, and for the second scenario, other three strategies were elaborated. After that, distinct goals for each strategy were created. The achieved results support that scenarios simulation, Rojo’s Model in particular, represents a valuable tool to plan the succession process in family businesses, since it enables the organization to answer quickly and more effectively to changes which may occur during the pathway.

This study examined stakeholders’' perceptions of a leader identification process as a part of the launch of a leader development pool strategy within a large, U.S.-based corrections organization. Stakeholder perceptions included stakeholder expectations of, roles in, and contributions to the organization’'s leader identification strategy and process, which were aimed at addressing a sparse leadership bench.
This single, descriptive case study centered around a leader identification initiative involving leaders and emerging leaders who were nominated for or applied to an accelerated development program. Fourteen leaders participated in the study. Their average tenure with the organization was 14.3 years. This study examined stakeholder perceptions around three phases of the initiative: the kick-off and communication phase (Phase 1), the talent review phase (Phase 2), and the disposition and development phase (Phase 3).
The study’'s findings revealed agreement among stakeholder groups that (1) clearly defined roles and responsibilities were critical to building the leadership bench, (2) open and honest talent discussions were more important than the systems and processes designed to build leadership capacity, (3) the talent pool approach taken by the organization undermined true succession planning and targeted development, and (4) stakeholder expectations and involvement drove the need for planned changes in the leader identification and development strategy.

The aggregate of those individual responses generated 159 public hospital supervisory boards. The results of the hypothesis test of the model show that the supervisory board structure doesn’t influence the performance role of the supervisory board. Efforts norms influence positively the performance of its roles. Only the use of knowledge and skills, and efforts norms mediate the process relationship between the public hospital supervisory board structure and the performance of its roles

Повний текст джерелаConsiderable evidence has revealed that particular lifestyle behaviours, such as engaging in regular physical activity, play a beneficial role in preventing and reducing the prevalence of chronic disease and illness in older adults (Singh, 2002; Taylor et al., 2004). With this in mind, the focus of this research was to investigate the effects of a novel group-oriented intervention (study 1) and determine if this novel approach could act as a mechanism for physical activity behavioural change in an older adult population (study 2).
Study One included a Randomised Control Trial (RCT) which compared a standard group intervention to an enhanced group intervention focusing on elements of group theory, with respect to effects on physical activity behaviour. Results revealed no significant differences between the two intervention groups however, many of the outcome measures indicated significant changes across time for both groups. Although the intervention was successful in increasing physical activity, there was no apparent effect shown by the theory-based approach aimed at enhancing group cohesion.
Thus, the purpose of Study Two was to provide a better understanding of the mechanisms by which psychological based theories of group development and group process affect the physical activity behaviours of older adults. Analyses revealed that the direct measures of attitude and perceived behavioural control acted as mediating mechanisms between selected concepts of group cohesion and physical activity intention however, subjective norm failed to mediate this relationship. The mediating relationship that was displayed provides insight into potential mechanisms by which group cohesion may affect behaviour.
Although the insights gained from study one and two have contributed to areas of health promotion and health and exercise psychology, further research considering the relationship between group theory research and physical activity behaviour is recommended.

It has been thirty years since Hunt (1972) developed the concept of Strategic Groups. Ever since then, there have been many researches conducted in this area. The definition of the Strategic Groups is: a group of enterprises that take the same of similar strategic dimensions. These enterprises either fall within the same industry or, based on the scope commitment and resource commitment, form a specific group. Many literatures indicate that the phenomenon of Strategic Groups does exist in many industries. As a result, new research directions were derived in the areas of the performance differences, mobility barriers and the competition behavior. However, the methodologies developed by the researchers vary in great deal in terms of analysis processes. Without clear analysis processes, it is not practical to apply the methodology to real cases. This research tries to address the processes and methodology of Strategic Groups analysis. First, it employs the interviews, business press and public documents, literature and questionnaires to collect strategic variables. Second, it selects the strategic dimensions out of the variables based on two methods: direct selection based on Industrial Organization Theory (IOT) or Resource Based View (RBV); indirect selection based on Principal Component Analysis or Factor Analysis. The existence of the Strategic Groups will be proven through the Cluster Analysis. However, certain key Strategic Dimensions will likely become the mobility barrier between Strategic Groups, which prevents the enterprises to move between Strategic Groups. It also creates the entry barrier for potential entrants. The pre-requisite for the Strategic Groups Analysis is that an enterprise has to exist in one. The analysis focuses are in the areas of performance difference, mobility barrier and competition behavior. The follow-up research will in turn emphasize on Multivariate Analysis on the related Strategic Dimensions and Strategic Groups. Researchers can also focus on the strategic position of the Strategic Groups in the industry and the competitive advantages brought by the execution of the strategies, which hopefully will indicate the directions for the lower performing groups to move towards the higher performing groups.

Nowadays, with the advance of globalization, new technology, and information transparency, business environments have become much more competitive. In order to respond with the uncertainty, lots of enterprises opt for constructing their own brand portfolios as strategy to sustain its growth. Therefore, our study tends to explore the brand portfolio developing process by strategic entrepreneurship theory. Our study is going to find out what kinds of driving forces give orporate impetus to build up brand portfolio, why corporate develop brand portfolio through brand extension or brand portfolio, and how corporate attain profits-making and growth-seeking through balancing opportunity-seeking activities and advantage-seeking activities. Via these research questions, our study could dig out how corporate cope with the uncertainty by brand portfolio development. After reviewing brand portfolio literatures, most of those are concerning the tactics of managing brand portfolio, and almost none of them concerns about the relationship between brand portfolio development process and competitive advantage establishment. Although there is study focus on this topic, the foci are based on established corporate but not entrepreneurial enterprises. Hence, our study adopts strategic entrepreneurship theory to make up for it. Our study adopts SPS method of case study to complete research process, and the case company is Gloria hotel group in Taiwan. After case analysis, our study comes out with three main findings as follows. First of all, key driving forces make corporate develop its brand portfolio are environmental factors and human capital inputs. Secondly, whether corporate choose brand extension or brand portfolio to expand its brand portfolio is also driven by corporate resources and capabilities, corporate strategy direction, and corporate culture. Thirdly, opportunity-seeking activities and advantage-seeking activities complementarily exist in the process of brand portfolio development, nevertheless, if there is only one activity dominant in the phase, corporate could not achieve balance of profits-making and growth-seeking targets, hence, the only way for corporate to balance is interacting opportunity-seeking activities and advantage-seeking activities at the same time continuously.

In global semiconductor industry, the amount of investments in semiconductor manufacturing equipment is consequently growing with the rapid advances in both the capacity expansion and technology migration. In addition, because of rapid technology node migration, the used equipment market is well refilled due to lots of process equipment out of date quickly. Due to global economic recession and descent of consumer market, the used equipment market is gradually focused with the price advantage as well as the differentiation of application. In the recent years, the market demand and sales amount of the used equipment ascend along with the vigorous development in semiconductor industry. Business model involved from single tool transaction to package deal of whole plant export deal. Besides, the buyer's needs was crossing over simple used equipment trade and extending to the purchase of service bundles including installation, modification, relocation, maintenance and parts. Market mainstream in used equipment transferred from the past 4~6-inch into 8-inch, and gradually move to the 12-inch market due to increasing demand in recent years rapidly. Regard to the market demand change, there are new players enter the market. The existing used equipment suppliers have combined vertical alliances to strengthen their core competitiveness in the market, in order to face the threat of competitors and consumers bargaining pressures. The policy making process for the “Separation of Prescribing and Dispensing” has continued for quite a long time, during the period the representatives of the interest groups (Medical Association and Pharmacists’ Association) were constantly in conflict, they manipulated tactics and shuttled back and forth between the government authorities and Legislative Yuan to carry out lobbying practice for their own benefit. The brief definition of the “Separation of Prescribing and Dispensing” is simply that “the doctors fill up the prescriptions and the pharmacists do the dispensations”. However our country carries on the medical system from the Japanese occupation era. In addition, the government did not pay serious attention to this issue, thus the doctors have always been taking care of everything, i.e. diagnosing, prescribing, and dispensing. But for the pharmacists, dispensing is explicitly the first priority. Therefore the major conflict during the medical procedure on the division of labor between the doctors and pharmacists is the ownership of dispensing power. The medical groups then interact with each other through the alteration of the legal right of dispensing. Therefore the right of dispensing is regarded as essential in the development of relevant articles about separation of prescribing and dispensing. This study applies “Game Theory” as the analysis framework. This study supposed that the two major interest groups, medical and pharmacists’ society, are under rational supposition and both recognized that, through the measure and estimation of the strategy, they can achieve optimum success or profit. From this study of the process of policy making in “Separation of prescribing and dispensing”, it can be seen clearly through the model supposition and balanced verification. The lobbying strategy that exercised by the interest groups on government organizations during the process of policy making, was proved to be lack of mutual trust between the interest groups, and thus produced constant resistance and have fall into a dilemma situation. Now they both have paid the resistant cost but did not get the optimal return. Therefore, this research has put forward some proposals as listed below: 1. Competent authorities should have clear manner in policy making and enhance communication. 2. Policy promotion is an indispensable part of policy making. 3. The establishment of consultative culture. 4. Make recommendations to the relevant interest groups about their lobbying strategy.

In the existing researches, the concept of the Brand Positioning is the perception of the product or brand ofconsumers. In recent years, some researches have different views that the business should define a competition framework for the reference before deciding the Brand Positioning and Enterprise Brand, which means a clear Target Market and CompetitiveProfile, and fine out thePoints of difference and Points of parity inthe positioning (marketing) of a brand for competitive advantage via brand or product. In other words, before the businesses do the marketing to the consumers for building the company image and brand, they should know their main competitorwell in the field. This concept is the same idea as the Brand Positioning in the Strategy Management. This paper applies the Strategic Group Analysis to establish theBrand Equity, and build a complete frameworkfor the structure of Brand Equity. We also have the case study of Mudanwan Villa in order to find out the important elements for Brand Building. We find two conclusions from the case-study.First,some successful hotels, like the Mudanwan Villa, alwaysfocus on the Brand Recognitionand Brand Association, and this is very important for Brand Buildingin the leisure industry. Second, we summarize the plan of StrategyBrandPositioning for the enterprise. In addition, we alsoobserve the importanceofexternal and internalconsistency in the Brand Management. The externalconsistency means the relationship between StrategyPositioningand Brand positioning. The internalconsistency means the relationship between the Brand Positioning, BrandElements, BrandRecognition and BrandAssociation.
