This study focused on identifying factors that affect classroom management in English classes and tried to give suggestions for the identified problems. The data were collected from Gore High School grade nine students, and English teachers who teach grade nine. The sample consisted of 213 students, and four English teachers. Then the data were collected and interpreted using qualitative and quantitative data analysis method. Especially, observation, questionnaires/open-ended and close-ended/ and interview were used as data gathering tools. Lastly, based on the result, conclusion and recommendations were made. Some of the findings were identified as negatively impacting on classroom management activities were large number of students in the classroom, poor ability of the teachers in managing classroom activities and school management that did not take satisfactory measures on misbehaved students counted as some factors that affect classroom management. To minimize these problems the researcher recommended that the school should request the society and different organizations to build additional classrooms; taking satisfactory measures on students who always misbehave in the classroom.

Objective. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of cigarette consumption and the differences in smoking habits among university students aged 18-26 years from different faculties in Montenegro. Method. This cross-sectional study was conducted in University of Montenegro in Podgorica and the data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Results. The study enrolled 146 students of both genders (63 males and 83 females) with an average age of 21.63 ± 2.16 years. It was shown that overall prevalence of cigarette consumption was 52.05% among all participants i.e. 21.62% among the students of Faculty of Medicine (p < 0.001). Among the students who practiced smoking, 46.57% of them stated that it was in the period of high school. We did not estimate a significant difference in the daily smoking frequency (number of cigarettes per day) (p = 0.443). Also, study participants did not have a specific time during the day for cigarette consumption (67.20%). The largest number of students (40.70%) light the first cigarette more than half an hour after waking up. University students believed that cigarette smoking could help overcome stressful situations, and that it improved concentration and memory. Smoking status was found to be higher among the students of older age (p < 0.001) and advancing year of faculty (p = 0.002). The analysis showed no significant gender difference in smoking habits. Conclusion. Our investigation confirmed a high prevalence of cigarette consumption among university students in Montenegro, and therefore we recommend that appropriate programs for smoking prevention and cessation be developed.

In this research, exploring the individual innovativeness levels of high school teachers is aimed. The research is designed as a descriptive survey and the sample of the research included 320 teachers working in 19 high schools in Şanlıurfa, Turkey. To collect data, translated form of “Individual Innovativeness” scale which is developed by Hurt, Joseph and Cook (1977) was used . Data of the research were analysed using such descriptive analysis as percentage, frequency, mean, standart deviation, t-test and one-way ANOVA. As a result of the study, the individual innovativeness category of the teachers was found as the “early-majority”. While the teachers’ opinions about their individual innovativeness showe no significant differences in terms of their genders, their opinions differed significantly according to their ages and the high school type they work in. Accordingly, young teachers and teachers working in science high schools were found to have higher individual innovation scores than older teachers and teachers working in Anatolian and vocational high schools. Accordingly, in order to make the teachers more innovative, it’s a must to abolish bureaucratic, organizatioanal and individual impediments; to encourage teachers to take risks.Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file. ÖzetBu çalışmada lise öğretmenlerinin bireysel yenilikçilik düzeylerinin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Betimsel tarama modelinde tasarımlanan araştırmanın örneklemini Şanlıurfa merkezde bulunan 19 okulda görev yapan toplam 320 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada öğretmenlerin bireysel yenilikçilik düzeylerini ölçmek için Hurt, Joseph ve Cook (1977) tarafından geliştirilen “Bireysel Yenilikçilik Ölçeği’nin” Türkçe formu kullanılmıştır ve bu form Kılıçer ve Odabaşı (2010) tarafından geliştirilmiştir. Araştırma verilerinin analizinde betimleyici istatistikler kullanılmış ve bu kapsamda ortalama, frekans, yüzde, standart sapma, t-testi ve tek faktörlü varyans analizi (one-way ANOVA) gibi analizlere yer verilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, öğretmenlerin bireysel yenilikçilik düzeyleri orta düzeyde; yenilikçilik kategorileri ise “sorgulayıcı” kategorisindedir. Öğretmenlerin bireysel yenilikçilik özellikleri cinsiyetlerine gore anlamlı bir biçimde değişmezken; yaş ve görev yapılan lise türü değişkenleri bakımından anlamlı farklar göstermektedir. Bu doğrultuda, genç öğretmenlerin ve fen liselerinde görev yapan öğretmenlerin bireysel yenilikçilik düzeyleri ileri yaşlarda olan ve diğer liselerde (Anadolu ve Meslek liseleri) çalışan öğretmenlere göre daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Bu doğrultuda, öğretmenleri daha yenilikçi kılmak için mevcut bürokratik, örgütsel ve bireysel engellerin ortadan kaldırılması, öğretmenlerin yeni uygulamaları denemeye, risk almaya, işbirliği yapmaya, yaratıcı fikirlerini ifade etmeye ve paylaşmaya teşvik edilmesi gerekmektedir. Çalışmanın genellenebilirliğini arttırmak için çalışmanın farklı eğitim kademelerini de içerecek biçimde genişletilmesi, örneklem sayısının arttırılması sağlanabilir.

Teacher Education needs to move beyond the limitations of existing pre-service and in-service courses. Instead, teacher education should be regarded as a career long process of professional learning 'which takes place prior to and during pre-service, and continues through induction and inservice' (Gore, 1995). An innportaut step in this direction is partnerships between schools and teacher education institutions in initial teacher preparation. Many such partnerships already occur across states and institutions. This paper outlines a rationale for a teacher education course that seeks to achieve a partnership between Charles Sturt University Dubbo and the Department of Education and Training (DET) in NSW within the framework of career long professional learning for teachers. The existing political climate with the restructuring of the DET bureaucracy as well as the proposed NSW Institute of Teachers presents a serendipitous moment for the establishment of such a course. The course would follow what the author has termed the 'two cubed' model of teacher education. That is, the fIrst two years of teacher education in the university, followed by two years in school based teacher education (SBTE) with the fmal two years as a begirming teacher mentored by both the training and employing institutions. The initial teacher education course will be the Trojan horse that makes professional learning a formal part of the teaching profession as the interaction between the DET and Charles Sturt University creates professional learning opportunities for existing teachers. This professional learning will be linked strongly to the bioregion of the Murray-Darling Basin, thus addressing both the ecological and social sustainability issues of this region. As well, the qualifIcation gained will be for K-10, addressing the needs of middle school students in central and high schools in the central west of New South Wales.

The narrative in this article runs as follows. As the political, social, and economic environments that surround the American high school undergo seismic shifts, they create new forms of secondary education. We report that the environmental conditions between 1890 and 1920 were such that most of the pillars that anchored the American high school prior to the 20th century were swept away. New scaffolding for how classrooms should function, how schools should be organized and managed, and how the school–community relationship should be defined was constructed. By the early part of the 20th century, the high schools the nation had known for the previous three centuries were mostly gone. Over the 30 years, the social, economic, and political environments that envelop education have begun to reshape the American high school once again. Pressures accompanying the evolution to a post-industrial economy have introduced new understandings of what society expects from its secondary schools. Political and social revolutions are also pushing the high school toward fundamental changes. The biblical aura of the 20th century organizational and management playbooks for high schools are being rewritten under an onslaught of post-professional, post-public monopoly views of schools, how they work, and how they need to be shepherded to success.

These questions were among the significant challenges given to the design team for Poudre School District's recently completed Fossil Ridge High School, the fifth public high school in Ft. Collins. This article examines the major steps, features, and results that have gone into this LEED Silver Certified school.

Bullying, a typical occurrence in schools, has gone digital. As a result, cyberbullying has become ever more present among youth. The current study aimed to classify high school students into four groups based on their cyberbullying experiences and to examine the characteristics of these groups based on the sex and age of the participants and the level of parental monitoring. Participants were 133 high school students located in central Texas. A cluster analysis revealed four distinct groups of students who were “highly involved both as bully and victim,” “more victim than bully,” “more bully than victim,” or “least involved.” Significantly more girls and more students in lower grades were classified into the “more victim than bully group” while older students were more likely to be classified into the “more bully than victim” group. No significant differences were found between cluster membership and the degree of parental monitoring.

Although rural communities have pressing needs for educated youth, rural schools are criticized for training students with urban-oriented labor skills that facilitate rural-to-urban migration. Some analysts see such schooling contributing to the rural community’s decline. Educators and policymakers concerned about rural areas need to know what kind of school programs help retain educated youth in rural areas. Research on the comparative effectiveness of different curriculum programs in retaining youth in the community can inform the program development for rural schools. This report presents a study that addressed the issue with data from a national longitudinal study, the High School and Beyond (HS&B) of the National Center for Education Statistics. With two-level hierarchical logit modeling that decomposed the variance into school- and individuallevels components, we examined the post-school outmigration pattern in connection with students’ coursework (at the individual level) and curriculum program enrollment (at the school level). We focused on the effects on outmigration of the academic program and the vocational program measured at the two levels, adjusting for the effects of the local labor market condition and student sociodemographic background and test scores. We also introduced interaction terms to determine the specific effects of curriculum on rural school average outmigration. The results revealed that, controlling for the effects of local labor market and student background and academic achievement, outmigration was positively related to schools’ emphasis on academic programs and students’ high credits in the academic curriculum. To clarify the possible confounding relationship between outmigration and college attendance, we further analyzed data of youth that had not gone to college four years after high school. Essentially, the same pattern was found among this subsample of noncollege-goers. Implications for curriculum development were suggested based on the results and other perspectives regarding curriculum reform.

Investment in the certification of teachers by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) represents a significant policy initiative for the nation's public school teachers. This article investigates the potential impact of NBPTS certification on teachers' career paths. Using a competing risks model on data from North Carolina public schools, we find evidence that those teachers who apply to NBPTS are more likely to be mobile than are nonapplicants, particularly after they have gone through the certification process. Regression discontinuity estimates suggest that National Board–certified teachers are more likely than unsuccessful applicants to leave the North Carolina public school system and that this appears to result from certified teachers exiting high-minority schools, particularly Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools.

Background Research on children's play asserts that children's identities are performed and (re)formed in peer groups where they try out identities and make sense of their social worlds. Yet there are kinds of play (e.g., violence, gore, sexuality, and consumer culture) that are often hidden and taken underground, deemed inappropriate for public spaces. These underground spaces are potentially revolutionary (#playrevolution) as children disrupt power hierarchies and regulatory boundaries in both subtle and overt ways. These spaces are important for children who are consistently marginalized by intersecting identities, further complicated by negative perceptions attached to certain topics constituting dark play. Thus, what if we look beyond labeling certain play episodes “inappropriate” and consider how children produce and enact culture? What seems nonsensical and irrational to the adult gaze is about creative participation, agency, and autonomy for children. Focus Bakhtin described “carnival” as a countercultural space where folk ideologies dominated, hierarchies were removed, and people engaged in joyful laughter, playful mockery, and the enactment of various discourses. This unofficial space allowed for multiple voices, giving individuals an opportunity to (re)create identities in dialogue with others. For young children, free play can be considered carnivalesque—children learn to disrupt social structures and norms, question authority and power, test boundaries, and understand conflict. Taking up Bakhtin's notion of carnival, this study examines the lived experiences of young children as they construct (counter)cultural spaces of creativity, play, and resistance. Research Design Drawing from a five-month qualitative study in a Midwestern kindergarten classroom, I take up Bakhtin's notion of carnival, or the practices of everyday individuals when free from authority or boundaries. Data for this project were collected during writing workshop times, occurring 3 to 5 times per week for 45–90 minutes; the sessions were audio-recorded and transcribed, and writing samples were collected daily. The focus is on five children who sat together at the same table; limited to their table space, they navigated around curriculum while collectively cultivating their own cultural community. Through an analysis of artifacts, written texts, transcriptions, and popular media content, this study examines how children destabilize hierarchies and subvert the authority of traditional and “appropriate” genres. Conclusions Children actively took up tools and ideas from horror story genres (e.g., chainsaws, blood, and masks), while their local context served as the setting for their own stories: the nearby high school, Halloween parties, and popular costumes. They remixed stories to include curricular demands (e.g., true stories) with popular culture interests. However, they did not reveal these seemingly “inappropriate” topics to their teacher and the demands of school literacy. Their resulting written stories were not pictures of chainsaws, bloody deaths, and killer dolls: They were “masked” by attempts at writing letters underneath pictures of houses, trees, cars, rainbows, and people. Arguably, the children knew how to navigate the official space of school, understanding which ideas were appropriate for their secret conversations and which were appropriate for public sharing. In the midst of their play, children learned how to write from one another: Certain words were borrowed across the table, pictures (e.g., rainbows) symbolized common practices, and storylines were “copied” and reappropriated from others. These literacy attempts were trademarked and encoded on their written texts to signify belonging and participation at the intersection of popular culture and play.

This research aims to describe the development of students' religion at SMP Negeri 10 Bandung. This research was motivated by the large number of immoral cases committed by the younger generation, such as drug cases, free sex, and so on. These various problems cannot be solved, but by returning to religious teachings, one way is by making religious education more effective in schools, one of which is through religious culture. This research is a type of qualitative research. The research approach used is phenomenological (meaning of existence). The informants for this research consisted of the school principal, all Islamic religious education teachers, several teachers other than Islamic religious education teachers, and students. The results of the research show that the implementation of student religious formation through religious culture at SMP Negeri 10 Bandung has gone well and is programmed, and carried out by the school as a complete educational institution with lessons related to the development of religious culture in schools and community activities carried out by Rohis (Islamic Spirituality) as an extracurricular activity at a special shade school. This success can be achieved because of the efforts of the principal and the support of the entire school community by showing commitment, each of which occurs together and supports each other.

AbstractObjectiveObesity levels are rising in almost all parts of the world, including the UK. School food offers children in Great Britain between 25 % and 33 % of their total daily energy, with vending typically offering products high in fat, salt or sugar. Government legislation of 2007 to improve the quality of school food now restricts what English schools can vend. In assessing the effect of this legislation on the quality of English secondary-school vending provision, the response of schools to these effects is explored through qualitative data.DesignA longitudinal postal and visit-based inventory survey of schools collected vending data during the academic year 2006–2007 (pre-legislation), 2007–2008 and 2008–2009 (both post-legislation). Interviews with school staff explored issues of compliance. Product categorisation and analysis were carried out by product type, nutrient profiling and by categories of foods allowed or prohibited by the legislation.SettingEnglish secondary schools.SubjectsA representative sample of 279 schools including sixty-two researcher-visited inventory schools participated in the research.ResultsSchool vending seems to have moved towards compliance with the new standards – now drinks vending predominates and is largely compliant, whereas food vending is significantly reduced and is mostly non-compliant. Sixth form vending takes a disproportionate share of non-compliance. Vending has declined overall, as some schools now perceive food vending as uneconomic. Schools adopting a ‘whole-school’ approach appeared the most successful in implementing the new standards.ConclusionsGovernment legislation has achieved significant change towards improving the quality of English school vending, with the unintended consequence of reducing provision.

This research aims to develop chemistry learning modules based on local natural resources in Maluku in project-based learning on macromolecular material class XII IPA SMA. This research refers to the 4-D development model by Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel, which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. This learning module has gone through the validation stage by expert validators. It has gone through field trials and has been revised by developers to produce a valid and practical learning module. The results of this study are: (1) validity assessment by one media expert and one material expert is in the very valid category with an average score from material experts of 4.49 and an average score from media experts of 4.68; (2) the small group trial to 9 students of class XII IPA 1 SMAN 6 Ambon obtained a percentage of 93.6% in the very practical category; (3) Field trials to 30 students of class XII IPA 3 SMAN 12 Ambon resulted in a percentage of 90.2% with a very practical category. The response of five chemistry teachers to the developed module also resulted in a percentage of 85.4% in the very practical category. In conclusion, the chemistry learning module based on local natural resources in Maluku in project-based learning developed with a 4-D model is valid, practical, and It can be used as teaching materials in school.

Bullying or intolerance is still one of the problems that occurs in Indonesia. This can be seen from the continued prevalence of bullying behavior that has surfaced and gone viral on social media. Bullying cases often occur in teenagers, especially middle and high school students. One of the causes is a lack of knowledge and understanding of the definition and forms of bullying behavior and the lack of a tolerant character among teenagers. This community service is aimed at 1) Educating and training Generation Z at the Malang City High School level in identifying problems of bullying or intolerance in their schools and 2) Instilling tolerance in Generation Z to prevent bullying behavior. The target of the service is Malang City high school students. Community service is carried out through the community development method. Service implementation is carried out through character dissemination activities by inviting resource persons from the OASE Institute. Activities are carried out through three stages: social preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The result of the implementation of the service is the formation of a cadre of Malang City High School students who have a strong character of tolerance, as well as increased student knowledge regarding potential problems of bullying and intolerance at school. By cultivating and spreading the character of tolerance through student cadres, it is hoped that bullying behavior can be prevented among Malang City High School teenagers.

School committees are formed as advisory bodies (Advisory Agency) and also as supporting (supporting agencies) as well as controlling (controlling agency) in the context of educational transparency, as well as mediators between the government (executive) and the community in the education unit. Based on empirical data, the school committee of Junior High School 3 Sigli has not shown an optimal contribution in the administration of education, especially in the teaching and learning process. School committees contribute more dominantly when there is education assistance provided by the government. The purpose of this research is to analyze the contribution of the school committee as an educational consideration body, as an educational support body and to analyze the contribution of the school committee as an education control body at Junior High School 3 Sigli. The approach used in this research is qualitative, while data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, focus group discussion (FGD) and documentation. The results showed that the contribution of the school committee as an educational consideration body at the Junior High School 3 Sigli had not gone perfectly, both with regard to planners, executors and managers. While the contribution of the school committee with regard to supporting bodies as government partners has also not gone well, because what is highlighted by the school committee is only when there is financial assistance. While the contribution of the school committee as a partner with the community and also a partner with the school is quite good, so is the contribution of the school committee as an education control body. The conclusion of the study shows that the contribution of Junior High School 3 Sigli committee can improve the quality of education, although it is related to the educational consideration body its contribution is not yet perfect, but with the contribution of the school committee as a support body and education control body, it has a positive impact on the smooth and comfortable teaching and learning process.

Education is a means of educating generations of students to gain quality knowledge. This is inseparable from the role of the principal as a manager in achieving the vision and mission of the school. To achieve the mission according to the targets that have been set, this is inseparable from education financing. Education financing is considered important because schools will not run massively if there is no education financing. Education financing itself has a function or use in realizing programs in schools, such as buying infrastructure, providing salaries or wages for teachers, conducting supervisory activities, and many more. It is known that the problem of financing education must always be felt in some schools. This is also the case at Darul Mursyidin Islamic Junior High School (JHS), which has a problem of inappropriate services based on the funds obtained by the school through student tuition and boss funds. This research discusses the management of education financing at Darul Mursyidin Islamic JHS in West Pasaman. The type of research used is through a qualitative approach and descriptive method, where one member of the author, has gone to the field first and seen the facts firsthand. The result is that Darul Musrsydin Islamic JHS in West Pasaman does need to make improvements by taking several steps to restore good quality education financing management for schools.

In 2015, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health conducted focus groups with school nurses (SNs) and athletic trainers (ATs) from Massachusetts middle and high schools to assess implementation of legislated regulations relative to the management of students’ head injuries incurred during extracurricular sports. Four tape-recorded focus groups were conducted by experienced facilitators. Lists of themes were synthesized by investigators for each focus group. Participating SNs and ATs supported the sports concussion legislation, felt that implementation had gone well, indicated that the law empowered them in managing return-to-school/play for students with concussion, and experienced support from their school administrators. Some SNs reported that they had applied relevant procedures to all students with head injuries, regardless of how or where the injury occurred. Challenges identified included protocols for away games, inconsistent concussion care by physicians, and a need for teacher education. Further research is required to quantify these findings.

Like most other countries around the world, after the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the education system in Bangladesh has gone through a radical change from the beginning of March 2020 onwards. The study attempts to analyse teachers’, students’ and parents’ perceptions and experiences about the online education in the COVID-19 pandemic at the school level. To fulfil the research objectives, the study selects some private schools (kindergarten to high school) in the Chattogram District of Bangladesh. The study strongly advocates for making the online classes more effective and inclusive for all. There is a need to bring a strategic change from the course curriculum to the teaching process and ensure an amalgamation of all types of interventions (online and offline classes) for online learning activities through a unified policy direction.

School Operational Assistance (SOA) is a government program to improve the quality and quality of learning in state schools. Yet, SOA reporting was colored by delays by various schools. Reporting must be under regional financial administration. On the other hand, schools are required to make reports according to the format from the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. Through this paper, the author analyzes the implementation of the SOA policy at the elementary (SD) and junior high school (SMP) levels. Too, we also analyze the factors that support and hinder the implementation of the policy in public schools in Berau District. This study uses a descriptive method with a case-qualitative study. Referring to absorption capacity, effectiveness, accountability, transparency, implementer commitment, goals and targets, as well as analyzing the factors that influence SOA policy, it shows that its actualization in schools located in the city center have "good" absorption and effectiveness, while schools located in far from the city center is categorized as “moderate”. Accountability, transparency, commitment of implementers in general have gone well. Thus, schools that are far from the city center are still not optimal, for example in providing information related to the use of SOA. The goals and objectives of the SOA program have been achieved, but the financing of competency standards in schools is still inadequate. The analysis shows that the lack of appropriateness of this program is triggered by the lack of communication, human resources, bureaucratic structure, and characteristics of the implementer. Therefore, it needs serious attention from implementers, schools, and local governments to find solutions, especially in providing support for increasing competence, especially school principals and treasurers so that this policy can be accounted for in a transparent and accountable manner.

The purpose of this research is to explain formulation of policy to increase the number of Vocational students (SMK) and to report the impact of the policy formulation carried out. This research used qualitative design with study case approach to identify and report formulation of policies for increasing the number of Vocational student (SMK) in Malang. The research data were collected by using interview, observation, and documentation. In analyzing the data found, this study uses analytical techniques by performing data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. This study shows that the policy formulations for increasing the number of vocational school students in Malang which are contained in the Medium Term National Education Development Plan (RPJM) 2004-2009 (Renstra Depdiknas) and three MoNE circulars for 2006, 2007 and 2008 have been compiled and detailed with clear so as to be able to guide policy implementers in interpreting and describing policy objectives and steps that can be taken. On the other hand, The implementation of the policy to increase the number of Vocational students (SMK) in Malang has basically gone quite well with the objectives that have been achieved.

<p>In 1972, a small group of Georgetown University law students developed a series of practical law lessons for use with public high school students in Washington, D.C. These visionaries recognized that ordinary citizens—not just lawyers—needed a basic understanding of practical law in order to take on civic responsibilities. The lessons were popular with the high school students and with their law student teachers. Responding to their practical nature, the high school students called these lessons “Street Law.” The name stuck.</p><p><br />A pilot program in two local high schools in 1972–73 launched a movement—first in the United States but eventually around the world—to teach the public about law and public policy using learner-centered, interactive teaching methods. Today, Street Law programs can be found in every state in the U.S. and in more than 40 countries around the world.</p><p><br />Propelling this global movement to advance justice through practical education about law and democracy is Street Law, Inc., a Washington, D.C. area non-profit organization that is an outgrowth of the early Street Law program at Georgetown University Law Center. That pilot effort has also grown into a full-fledged, credit-bearing experiential education program at Georgetown that has served as a model program for more than 120 law schools across the country and around the world. Nearly 1,000 upper division Georgetown Law students have participated in this program since its inception. Many have gone on to positions as law firm partners, corporate counsel, government officials in the U.S. and abroad, and even members of the federal court bench. They have taken from their law school experience a commitment to public education about law and democracy.</p>

Career and technical education (CTE) has gone through major transformations in the United States with important benefits for all students seeking postsecondary and career success. Research analyzing students' CTE enrollment patterns is important to understand which students are taking CTE courses and why in order to inform future research and practice. Using the High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 (HSLS:2009), this study investigated CTE enrollment patterns using Aliaga, Kotamraju, and Stone's (2014) typology and literature-based individual and social factors. Results from descriptive and multinomial logistic regression indicated that the majority of students were enrolling in some level of CTE credits and that individual and social factors were influential but varied by specific enrollment patterns.

This research aims to obtain a fact-based picture in the form of data and information regarding the implementation of the Teaching Factory learning model at SMK Negeri 1 Pacet. Qualitative research methods are used to produce a comprehensive presentation based on findings in the field. The efforts made in education are on the learning processes and models used to achieve educational goals. Vocational High Schools (SMK) are schools that aim to prepare students who are skilled and ready to enter the world of work. To realize this goal, one of the flagship programs is the Teaching Factory. Teaching Factory is an effort to present the real world of work in an educational environment. The objectives of this Teaching Factory are (a) increasing the competency of students (b) increasing the entrepreneurial spirit of graduates (c) producing value-added products (goods/services) (d) expanding the scope of recruitment opportunities for vocational school graduates, and (e) increasing collaboration with the business/industrial world. KBased on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the implementation of Teaching Factory learning at SMK Negeri 1 Pacet on the Agribusiness Food Crops and Horticulture skills competency has gone well and can produce superior products and has been accepted as an industry standard by the market so that it can be used as a reference for other schools to implement Teaching Factory learning.

The aim of the research was to know the understanding about the work ethic and the function of public junior high school committees in sub-district of Sungai Mandau Siak regency. The research was held on SMP Negeri 1, SMP Negeri 2 and SMP Negeri 3, from November 2016 until January 2017. The data was taken from the data of junior high school committees.Primary data was taken from the interview with the public junior high school committees while the secondary data was taken from the documentation study. The research technique was direct observation, interview and documentation study. Data analysis technique used an interactive model analysis consisting of three activity lines namely reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing or verification. The results show that the work ethics of the public junior high school committees in sub-district Sungai Mandau weregood. It was indicated by the performance attitude of the school committee which showed the nature of hard work, discipline, responsibility and had a sense of pride in the profession. The committees of public junior high school thought that their position was a form of worship, trusteeship, honor, service to the community and actualization. The function of committee as a consideration in determining and implementing education policies related to determining school policies and programs, raising funds, and other educational resources from the community, both individuals/organizations/businesses/industries and other stakeholders through creative and innovative efforts and in following up complaints, suggestions, critics and aspirations of students, parents/guardians, and the community as well as the result of the school committee’s observations of the school’s performance had gone very well. The function of Sungai Mandau junior high school committees in supervising education in schools in accordance with the provisions of legislation had been going well but still has to be improved especially in reviewing and assessing school performance, evaluation, and supervision of infrastructure facilities and financial supervision evaluation.

AbstractIn the past years, theoretical high-school education in Romania has gone through much public criticism regarding both the quality and the effectiveness of the instruction offered to students. An excessive focus on theory for most subjects and the neglect of the practical aspects/applications of the themes studied are known to have had negative effects on students’ motivation and their ability to choose a career and to adapt to the labour market requirements. The authors of this article intend primarily to briefly analyse some of the curricular aspects underlining this problem and to suggest some opportunities to offset this situation – opportunities derived from the business community and within the reach of the theoretical high-schools’ managers. In support of the proposed solutions, the authors are going to examine two types of initiatives implemented at the “Gheorghe Lazăr” National College from Sibiu: “training placement” in EU-funded Leonardo da Vinci projects and a “work-experience” type of initiative leading to a successful programme run every school year in cooperation with firms, institutions, and companies from Sibiu.

<p>History is an important school subject which conveys invaluable lessons from the past and whose worth transcends regional, national and cultural boundaries. Such a subject needs to be taught well in order to make learners gain deep appreciation of the relevance of their learning. However, effective teaching of history in Ghanaian schools has long been blighted by problems and challenges that have often gone unaddressed. With little empirical literature emerging from Ghana, this study, drawing on 32 history teachers from 18 senior high schools, examined history teachers’ perceptions of the problems faced in the teaching of history in the Cape Coast metropolis and Komenda, Edina, Eguafo, Abrim district in the Central Region of Ghana. The descriptive cross-sectional research design was used for the study and data were collected through questionnaires. The study found that overloaded syllabus, insufficient human and material resources, lack of support for the subject and large classes were the major problems facing the teaching of history. Based on the findings, the study concluded that the problems confronting the teaching of history in the two districts are administrative and pedagogical in nature. On this conclusion, it was recommended, among others, that syllabus content should be integrated to make it sync with the period given for its implementation. Also, the necessary resources should be provided to enhance the teaching of the subject.</p>

This study aims to reveal the academic stress experienced by elementary school students during the COVID-19 pandemic regarding the implementation of online learning from home. This research was conducted in Malang Raya by distributing questionnaires randomly with a total of 22 schools which were divided into 12 schools in urban areas and 10 schools in rural areas. The subjects were 236 students consisting of 103 male students and 133 female students. The instrument used is the academic stress scale developed by the researcher and has gone through the stages of validity and reliability. The lowest validity score is 0.363 and the highest validity value is 0.560 and the reliability score is 0.769. The data obtained show that the level of academic stress experienced by elementary school students in Malang Raya is in the low category of 98 students or 41.53%, then 126 students or 53.39% experience moderate stress, the rest are in the high category. experienced by 12 students or 5.09% of students only. Furthermore, if mapped based on rural and urban areas, the data obtained: from a total of 122 students who study in urban areas 9.8% experienced high levels of academic stress, 49.1% experienced moderate levels of academic stress and the remaining 40.9% students experienced academic stress at low level. Academic stress data obtained from students who study in rural areas are 0% of students experiencing high academic stress, 58.1% of students experiencing moderate level of academic stress, the remaining 41. 8% experienced a low level of academic stress. If mapped by gender, male students experience more academic stress than girls, although the difference is not too significant.

The purpose of this study is to find out the History of the Establishment and Development of SMA Muhammadiyah Kendari in Southeast Sulawesi. The type of research used in this study is descriptive qualitative with a historical approach. Data collection techniques used include: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. Data analysis techniques used are deduction, induction, comparative. The results of this study reveal that Muhammadiyah Kendari High School was established in 1968 and has gone through 7 leadership changes starting in 1968-2020. The first leader, Mr. Drs. H. Anwar Period 1968-1970 and led by the two fathers Mahmud Injjil Period 1970- In 1974, during their leadership, Muhammadiyah Kendari High School was still located in the old city and used 1 building. Then in the third leadership of Mr. H. Ahmad Aljufri for the period 1970-1974 Muhammadiyah High School during his leadership he made many changes in terms of development, in terms of the learning process, and administration at this time was quite successful. Then the following year was attended by Mr. Arqam Ali, he only had to continue the program that had been implemented before. From a physical standpoint and the learning process still applies the method from the previous leadership. After that, the head of the school was detained by Mr. Rahman BA. During his leadership period, the building which had previously started to break down was finally repaired and made into a computer lab. Besides that, the learning and administrative processes that were managed by him were very good. Mr. Ismail was the VI principal of the school. During his leadership, he was not much different from the previous leadership, who still imitated the leadership model of Mr. Ahmad Aljufri. During his leadership, he also built a building for the library. He put more emphasis on improving the learning process so that the vision and mission of SMA Muhammadiyah can be achieved. And finally, the leadership of Mr. H. G. Taslim, during his leadership period, experienced a decline in terms of human resources, in this case students from year to year due to the large number of public and private schools that were opened so that SMA Muhammadiyah Kendari became less interested. However, the facilities provided are adequate so that Muhammadiyah Kendari High School is currently accredited A.

This study aims to analyze how the process, implementation and results of learning the Qur’an in Junior High Schools in Padang Panjang City, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, data sources are taken through direct observation of the object of research and in-depth interviews with school principals, teachers and students. All data were then analyzed thematically with techniques of collection, reduction, data analysis and closed with research conclusions. Overall the results of the study found that; First, the study planning has gone well, because administratively the school has fully prepared all the learning preparations such as teachers, curriculum, lesson plans, media and other aspects of learning support. Second, the process of implementing Qur'anic learning has also been going well, because all teachers carry out professionally their duties and responsibilities related to what has been planned and agreed upon so that the desired goals are achieved. Third, further evaluation of learning has shown good results, evaluation of learning the Qur’an is assessed based on three aspects of learning outcomes, namely aspects of knowledge, attitudes and skills of students related to knowledge and ability to read the Qur’an. The results of the study show that the seriousness of all school elements is the most important part of the success of a program, in fact it can be an example and reference for other schools related to the Qur'an learning program.

The results showed that at Katingan Hilir 2 High School in Katingan District the implementation of school-based management had gone well. A total of 81 students (age 10-12) from three private </span><em><span>tahfiz</span></em><span> primary schools around Kota Kinabalu were involved in this study. This quantitative study used cross-sectional survey method by distributing questionnaires to the respondents. The questionnaire was developed by the researchers to suit the unique environment of the </span><em><span>tahfiz</span></em><span> schools and has gone through the process of validity and reliability. Descriptive analysis showed that student attitude variable showed a high level of mean score (above 3.80), while for school climate variable, the finding was at moderate level (Mean=3.56, SD=0.530). As for curriculum variable, most students learnt the same main subjects as studied in government-aided primary schools, with addition to Quranic subject. However, no one learnt Computer Education subject. Multiple regression analysis showed that only the school climate variable significantly influenced the academic attitude of </span><em><span>tahfiz</span></em><span> students (R2=0.251, Beta=0.503, p&lt;0.001). This study will be able to provide useful information and benefit for the improvement of </span><em><span>tahfiz</span></em><span> institutions in Malaysia.</span>

Taekwondo sports at the Aceh Sports Talent High School (SMAKOR), a supporting facility for improving the achievements of athletes in the Taekwondo sport at the Aceh Sports Talent High School (SMAKOR) the role of School/Education for athletes with achievements in sports. which includes this study using a descriptive qualitative approach with the Countenance evaluation model from Robert E. Stake. The subjects of this study were administrators, coaches and athletes in Taekwondo at the Aceh Sports Talent High School (SMAKOR). Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used is data triangulation, namely by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study are: The antecedents, background and planning of the coaching program in Taekwondo at the Aceh Sports Talent High School (SMAKOR) are clear and well organized. Transactions, recruitment of coaches and athletes have gone well, the implementation of the coaching program is good enough according to the scheduled training program, the facilities and infrastructure are not good and some are not standardized nationally, the funds have not run well enough to meet the needs of athletes, consumption has not gone well enough to meet the needs of athletes. meet the needs of athletes, coordination has gone well, the welfare provided to coaches and athletes has not been maximized. The outcome is that the athletes' achievements in several sports have been good but not stable and some have not even received significant achievements. Conclusion: The antecedents, background and planning of the coaching program are good and clear. Transactions, recruitment of coaches and athletes have gone well, the implementation of the coaching program is quite good, facilities and infrastructure are not good, funds are not good, consumption is not good, and the welfare provided to coaches and athletes is not optimal. Outcome, the achievements of Taekwondo athletes at the Aceh Sports Talent High School (SMAKOR) in several sports have been good but not stable and some have not even received significant achievements. Bahasa: Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh peran dan konstribusi anggota dewan dalam meningkatkan elektabilitasnya dimata masyarakat terutama bidang olahraga dimana, masyarakat sangat meninginkan adanya penyelenggaraan event olahraga pada setiap tahunnya oleh para anggota dewan, sebab yang menjadi pokok permasalahan selama ini kebanyakan anggota dewan tidak pernah merespon, mempedulikan para pendukungnya semasa pemilihan umum, pemilihan anggota dewan. Tujuan penelitian yakni untuk meningkatkan elektabilitas para anggota dewan dan strategi peningkatan komunikasi dan elektabilitas politik Anggota Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Kota Banda Aceh. Adolescent dating violence may lead to adverse health behaviors. We examined associations between sexual teen dating violence victimization (TDVV) and sexual risk behaviors among U.S. high school students using 2013 and 2015 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey data (combined n = 29,346). Sex-stratified logistic regression models were used to estimate these associations among students who had dated or gone out with someone during the past 12 months (n = 20,093). Among these students, 10.5% experienced sexual TDVV. Sexual TDVV was positively associated with sexual intercourse before age 13, four or more lifetime sexual partners, current sexual activity, alcohol or drug use before last sexual intercourse, and no pregnancy prevention during last sexual intercourse. Given significant findings among both sexes, it is valuable for dating violence prevention efforts to target both female and male students.

Robotics has become a crucial domain in technology education, helping students to improve their abilities in assembly and programming. Despite the considerable research that has gone into the learning performance associated with robotics, little work has been done on the cognitive processes involved in learning this subject. The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument (based on the theoretical framework of MSLQ), with which to evaluate the motivation of high school students to learn robotics and the strategies they employ. Fifty participants in the open category competition of the World Robot Olympiad 2010 completed the self-reported questionnaire (RMSLQ-HS). Thirteen factors and fifty one items were extracted using exploratory factor analysis. Implications for the educational application of robotics and research suggestions related to RMSLQ are also discussed.

Improving the quality of education involves various methods, and one of them is the use of instruments as measuring tools. This instrument has an important role in improving students' learning experience. This research aims to develop an instrument for learning independence for high school students. This research uses an instrument for independent learning which consists of six aspects. The number of samples used was 233 high school students in Natuna, Riau Islands, Indonesia. The data analysis technique is to prove content validity, construct validity and reliability. The final results of the learning independence instrument have gone through the stages of content validity and construct validity, so that the results obtained are in the valid category with two analyzes on construct validity, and reliability is in the category that has passed 0.7. The weakness in this research is that the trial was only carried out once, and needed to be repeated to get an instrument that was truly standard and suitable for use.

This research aims to develop weblog media about environmental contamination material to determine the reflective thinking skills of junior high school students. The development of a weblog as a learning medium used the ADDIE model. In this research up to the development phase. The weblog design has gone through the validation phase. The validation was performed by 4 validators using a validation sheet. Student responses were collected using a questionnaire and reflective thinking skills using a multiple-choice test. The developed weblog has been tested on 20 students of 8<sup>th</sup> grade. The results showed that the use of blogging media positively impacted students' reflective thinking skills, given the increase in mean pre-test and post-test scores from a score of 69.5 to 82. The increase in reflective thinking skills was seen in of the three indicators of reflective thinking, namely <em>reacting</em> from 79% to 81,5% in the high category, <em>elaborating</em> from 50% in the low category to 75% in the high category, and <em>contemplating</em> from 67% in normal category to 78,4% in the high category. The use of blogging media to reinforce thinking skills is also supported by the results of student responses with an average result of 92,8% for aspects of reflective thinking

The Hotel and Catering Management program has gone trough years in Malaysian’s conventional education. The pioneer of this program has been established at Institut Teknologi MARA in 1967 started from Certificate of Catering Services to Diploma in Hotel and Tourism Management. From its name School of Hotel and Catering Management, in 1991 it is called Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management. The faculty focuses in line with the country aspiration to produce graduates and professionals in the field of hospitality. Meanwhile, in secondary schools have made catering courses as an elective in Living Skill and vocational school has long made Certificate of Catering courses to students. In 1998, Politeknik Johor Bahru has opened first certificate and diploma programs in Hotel and Catering Management to produce workers in respective hospitality establishments available through Malaysia. It is considered the second public institution for hotel and catering programs in Malaysia. However, reports from the Traces Study and Alumni Department in Politeknik Johor Bahru had shown that less than 65 percent of students interested to work in the same discipline and the rest of them divided in all fields in workforce. This trend has been prevailing for years in the job market without any action been taken to address this problem. This paper is to look and to analyze the reason why students do not choose their first jobs associated with the areas that they have been studied. After finding out the cause of the problems, number of recommendations to the formation of a new curriculum on Hospitality Education should be made to fit the current trend and market. Therefore, the shortage of energy resources and dependency on external energy could be reduced. The new curriculum is hoping to be able in developing communities with high income toward Malaysian’s vision to be a developed country in 2020.

This study aims to measure the validity and reliability of the Islamic Religious-Personality and Social Environmental (IRPS) model. Religiosity and spirituality mediated by social environment variables were measured by SEM-PLS. Cognitive development by Piaget and the spiritual development theory by Fawler were applied in this study. The quantitative approach as a data analysis tool for the five hypotheses developed in the model. To ensure the validity and reliability of the converger validity instrument, Deverger validity and Construct Reliability test were involved with 32 items, and indicators that were valid and reliable were used to measure the Religiosity and Spirituality mediated by the social environment towards the personality of the adolescent. A total of 381 samples had been taken with systematic random sampling. The sample consisted of high school students, vocational schools, and Islamic senior high schools. The age of the respondents consisted of 16-19 years consists of 112 males and 169 females. The IRPS model that was developed has gone through a predictive relevance test and it turns out that it can be used to measure Islamic Religion-Personality through a Social Environment. The study found that there was an influence of Islamic religiosity on adolescent personality and adolescent personality not influenced by Islamic spirituality. Islamic religiosity and spirituality correlated with the social environment and positively influencing the personality of adolescents.

Academic procrastination is a form of task avoidance that occurs due to the inability to complete a task. One of the effects of academic procrastination on students is that it causes students to have limitations in learning mathematics, which is often referred to as math anxiety. This study aims to determine the effect of academic procrastination on math anxiety experienced by junior high school students facing the dynamics of the transition of learning from online to offline. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey and the subjects of this study were seventh grade junior high school students in one of the cities in Bekasi. The instruments in this study used valid instruments and had gone through expert testing with a total of 11 indicators and 28 items for math anxiety and 4 indicators and 16 items for academic procrastination. This study describes a descriptive quantitative measure measured by RASCH model using Winstep and SPSS software. The results showed that the person correlation coefficient was 0.312 with a Sig, (2-tailed) = 0.004 <0.05, indicating a correlation between variables of 9.7%, which means that math anxiety may underlie academic procrastination, which is classified as weak. Since the regression coefficient is positive, the conclusion is that math anxiety has a positive effect on academic procrastination.

The model school is considered to be a great school, even though in reality, the word "model" in the model school is the system, namely theInternal quality assurance system (SPMI) being modeled at the school. The purpose of this study is to describe the Internal Quality Assurance System (case study at the SMPN 1 Sambas. Research conducted by using a qualitative approach with a type of case study research. The stages in this study consist of the stages of preparation, implementation, and reporting. Based on the research that has been done, the following results are obtained. (1) All components in implementing the School's Internal Quality Assurance System Model at SMPN 1 Sambas have been fulfilled by the Head of SMPN 1 Sambas with an average score of 84.34 from a maximum/100 score ; (2) In the process of the School's Internal Quality Assurance System the model in SMPN 1 Sambas has gone through the stages of planning, implementation and supervision in accordance with the provisions and carried out appropriately; (3) Output of the School's Internal Quality Assurance System in SMPN 1 Sambas works well; and (4) Barriers to the Model School's Internal Quality Assurance System in SMPN 1 Sambas, among others, a complete and correct lack of understanding of teachers and education personnel on the Internal Quality Assurance System, the assumption that principals are responsible for guaranteeing, improving, and civilizing quality and funds inadequate. The conclusion obtained from this research is that the Internal Quality Assurance System at SMPN 1 Sambas has been running well even though there are some obstacles, but it can be handled well.

This article reports a community service activity conducted to give training to Senior High School English teachers in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on academic writing, especially on formulating research questions of their Classroom Action Research (CAR). The training was a part of series of training conducted by the lecturers of the English Language Education Department of Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW) at regular Senior High School Teacher Professional Development Forum (MGMP) meetings. It was conducted to answer the teachers’ needs to conduct educational research for their professional development and career advancement as regulated by the government. The training on formulating research questions in CAR was divided into two sessions. The first session was lecture session in which relevant theories, practical suggestions, and examples regarding research questions were presented to the participants. This session, despite resource-person-led, could be interrupted with immediate questions from the teacher participants, allowing a more dynamic discussion. The second session was workshop session in which the participants practiced formulating research questions based on their respective teaching contexts with a close guidance from the resource person. Based on a reflective evaluation on the training, several conclusions on what had gone well and what needed to be improved are also presented along with several suggestions regarding possible follow-up trainings in the future.

Self-acceptance is a positive attitude towards oneself, awareness and acceptance of various aspects such as the good and bad of oneself as well as past life experiences. A phenomenon that occurs in adolescents, there are still many adolescents who have low self-acceptance, especially high school students. Therefore, this research is aimed to examine self-acceptance in high school adolescents. This research is a quantitative descriptive. Participants in this research were 381 students grade XI. The data using self-acceptance instruments that developed and gone through expert feasibility tests and empirical tests using Rasch model. From the data obtained, that there are 66 students who have high self-acceptance, 259 people in the medium category and 56 people in the low category. The conclusion is that students are not yet fully able to accept themselves regarding the conditions they are experiencing and this can be the basis for implementing services to develop students' self-acceptance. The education system in Quebec has found itself at the center of the debates about secularism since the 1960s. Embedded in broader academic debates about processes of secularization and deconfessionalization of state institutions, religious diversification of society, and reconfiguration of Catholicism, this article aims to analyze how private Catholic schools in post-Catholic Quebec respond to the challenges posed by the secularizing pressures of the state, and the religious diversification of their target populations. Based on a qualitative case study conducted in two private-partially-publicly-funded Catholic or Catholic-oriented high schools (one Anglophone, one Francophone) in Quebec, we argue that the different approaches observed result from the different processes of internal secularization that these two schools have gone through. We draw on Steve Bruce’s notion of “cultural defense” and David Martin’s conceptualization of different trajectories of secularization to interpret these results.

This study aims to create web-based instructional media with Google Sites and then assess the media's validity, practicability, and efficacy. This research used the R & D (Research and Development) technique with the 4-D development model (Four-D Model). Data collection used 3 types of questionnaires consisting of media, material, and language validation questionnaires. To test the effectiveness of the media, pretest and posttest questions were used, which had gone through a process of validation, reliability, discriminatory power and level of difficulty. The test results of all validations show that an average validity index of 0,919 in the Very Eligible criteria. Media practicality is in the Very Practical category, with an average practicality percentage of 84.91% across instructors and students. The media's effectiveness level is Effective Enough, with an average N-Gain score of 60.77% and a substantial T-Test value of 0.000, indicating that it may be utilized effectively in SMK Informatics learning. This study conducted trials on students who had just implemented the Merdeka curriculum.
