The objective of this thesis was to describe, understand, and explain the conditions facilitating and/or limiting the development of knowledge as a resource between members of a project team. We use a systemic approach to build a new model – called "Design of the learning organization" (Design de l’Organisation Apprenante) – based on Galbraith’s Star Model (Galbraith 1973; 2002). A longitudinal case study was performed within a multinational organization during a merger with one of its competitors. Our analysis of knowledge management in three contrasting organizational situations (before the merger, during the merger, and post merger) on the same project teams performing the same jobs leads to results both convergent and divergent with those described in the literature, giving rise to ambivalent results. This ambivalence has been analyzed through different modalities of the concept of culture: national, organizational, and professional
Jin, Guangying. "Management of the designe process : human resource allocation in factory of the future." Thesis, Bordeaux, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019BORD0123/document.
With the rapid development of internet of things and the internet driven global economy, the relationship among various designers from all over the world are getting closer, and the relationships among them in the project are shaped by many new challenges such as multiplication of data and information, mass customization, global collaboration, scarcity of resources, dynamic technology, etc. The engineering design depends on the efficiency of communication between actors in the design process. This leads to an increasingly complex of the human resource allocation and a more and more difficult risk management in design project. Many companies and institutes have developed their own human resource allocation and risk management method to the design process. However, these methodologies consider about the skills and expertise of the designer, but rarely think about the group interaction, experience working together ability and the personality analysis of the designer. Therefore, in this work, we propose human resource allocation which consider about the ideas above to effectively managing the design process
Thesis, Aix-Marseille, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014AIXM2013/document.
Interorganizational knowledge management is a growing concern for organizations and, in particular, for those which belong to the French nuclear deterrence. It contributes to the mastery of knowledges required for the success of a project implying several companies. Carried out in the military applications Division of the French atomic energy Commission, our PhD thesis looks at the process allowing a client organization to participate to the way a supplier acquire, conserve, transfer and apply knowledges relevant to the deliveries that it purchased. Focusing on the client / strategic supplier relationship, the research addresses an unexplored aspect of interorganizational knowledge management: the knowledge management control of a strategic supplier. Since knowledge management control of a strategic supplier can be defined as the influence that a customer may have on how a strategic supplier manages its knowledge, research demonstrates that it allows the client to participate in knowledge management deployed by the strategic supplier. From a design science approach, our PhD thesis deals with this research object owing to the design of a methodological guide which proposes a dedicated process. The results of the research lead to the design of a process which consists in four stages. If it was in use, the process implementation could help a customer to control knowledge management of a strategic supplier and, finally, enable the mastery of knowledges related to the purchased deliveries
Tepeli, Esra. "Processus formalisé et systémique de management des risques par des projets de construction complexes et stratégiques." Thesis, Bordeaux, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014BORD0122/document.
Project risk management is a growing concern in the field of construction. It is not limited to technical risks, but also covers financial risks, economic, organizational or contractual and any type of risks crucial for complex and strategic construction projects. Risk management process involves the identification, analysis, monitoring of risks and opportunities throughout the project life cycle. The formalized and systematic risk management process first identifies and analyzes the risks associated with the chronological decomposition of the project (phases, sub-phases, tasks), with the organizational structure of the project (project actors), with resources, contracts, external factors and material or immaterial flows between these elements. The formalized and systematic approach adapts to the dynamic and evolving nature of the project, to the type of contract and the type of project, to the level of detail and the vision of the stakeholder who manages risks. The whole process is highly fed by real projects study cases. A tool for risk management is developed to put into practice the theoretical approach and to test the process in the case studies of Public Private Partnership (PPP) and Design-Build-Maintenance projects
Mertz, Laurent. "Représenter l'utilisateur et son expérience : conditions de production et d'évolution de documents dans un projet design." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Institut polytechnique de Paris, 2024. http://www.theses.fr/2024IPPAT002.
This thesis focuses on the processes of representation of user experience, and proposes an analysis of the conditions of production of documents and media used to represent these same experiences. To conduct our analysis, we rely on three main elements. Firstly, the concept of experience implies a specific process of attribution of meaning to the action of others. However, we identify in the literature a plurality of definitions of experience, which consequently leads to a plurality of ways of defining and representing the experience of a user with a product or a service. Secondly, accessing the lived experience of a user means involving the latter more or less actively in the design process. Design Thinking and Participatory Design are two examples that allow us to better understand different logics of user involvement. Finally, thirdly, the documents and media of a project testify to a register and a style of communication about the user's experience. This thesis provides a socio-material and communicative analysis of the conditions of production of these same documents in the context of a public policy design project. The semantic properties of these documents, as well as the communicative context in which they are found, are studied. The fieldwork proposes a reflexive and ethnographic return on the creation of the corpus of documents, thus allowing to better understand the emergence of a certain register of communication dealing with the experience of the user of public service, as well as the specificities of this same register

Xue, Rui. "Improving Cooperation between Systems Engineers and Project Managers in Engineering Projects - Towards the alignment of Systems Engineering and Project Management standards and guides." Thesis, Toulouse, INSA, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016ISAT0018/document.
In a highly competitive economic context, companies need to improve their performance in entire life cycle of a product. It is often found that company organization leads to segregation between systems engineering and project management, with the result that decision-making is sometimes misguided and may compromise project execution, whereas, although they each have specific visions and targets, these disciplines are nonetheless intended to serve a common objective, which is to satisfy the customer. So it is an important issue to facilitate their adoption and their joint deployment within the company, in order to improve decision-making in engineering projects. The proposal of the thesis involves bringing systems engineering and project management closer together in order to help both systems engineers and project managers assess the project progress. Based on this assessment, they can adjust the project policy dynamically through the project life cycle. In this thesis, we first harmonize the standards and guides from systems engineering and project management domains and define an integrated process groups organized into 3 groups of processes. Then we identify a set of key indicators related to these process groups, indicators are then valuated and give the evaluation of the indicator based on the analytic hierarchy process method to integrate the views of systems engineers and project managers in an additional way. On the basis of these indicators, we use the critical path method and earned value management method to assess the project progress values and define two project indexes to assess and insight the project progress easier
Dai, Xinghang. "Cooperative knowledge discovery from cooperative activity : application on design projects." Thesis, Troyes, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015TROY0020/document.
Modern design projects tend to be more and more complex and multi-disciplinary in terms of both organization and process. Knowledge management enables a company to reuse its experience in order to improve organizational learning. Several knowledge engineering methods are defined to obtain expert knowledge. However, no knowledge approaches have succeeded to extract cooperative knowledge due to its particular features: cooperative knowledge is produced in cooperative activities; no single actor can claim to explain globally the cooperative activity with no personal bias. How can we reuse cooperative design project knowledge is the new challenge. In my thesis “knowledge discovery from cooperative activities, application on design projects”, the term “knowledge discovery” is redefined according to knowledge engineering approaches, and guided by the spirit of knowledge management. The nature of cooperative knowledge is studied and a novel approach of classification is proposed to discover knowledge from cooperative activities, and it is further elaborated in the context of design projects, examples on software engineering, eco-design and mechanical design are demonstrated
Marie, Jean-Baptiste. "Manager le projet par la synthèse : les collaborations entre ingénieurs et architectes." Thesis, Université Paris-Saclay (ComUE), 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018SACLD001.
Whether in its objectives, its organisation, its tools, or its techniques, the architectural project is undergoing profound transformations. Some arise from public policies, notably relating to the environment, others from increasing control over project cost management, yet others from innovations in construction and developments in digital technology, and others, finally, from changes in the framework of public contracts, such as design-build. As a result of these factors, more complex project management practices are emerging, in which the coordinating role is no longer confined to architects alone. Instead, it now takes more collaborative forms, with engineers playing an increasingly more important role. Nonetheless, there has been little description of this synthesising activity and it is poorly understood, or limited in its definition to the execution summary defined by act No. 85-704 of 12 July 1985, the so-called public project ownership (MOP) act. The aim of this thesis is to explain what is meant by project synthesis. We are interested here in a circumscribed aspect of the architectural and construction project – but one decisive to its success – which is the forms of collaboration between engineers and architects: modalities of thinking and organising, representational tools, differences and similarities in their activities. The theoretical and practical implications of this hypothesis will be explored through an analysis of the sharing of the architectural and constructional dimensions of eight examples of synthesis, drawn from three case studies: Maison Hermès in Tokyo, the Seine-Aval sewage plant in Achères, the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. Through observation on the ground and interviews with engineers and architects, this analysis highlights two kinds of result: 1) a description of situations of synthesis, which details the role of representations, identifying three types: specific representations, exchanged representations, and shared representations; 2) assessment of the impacts of synthesis on the conduct and management of projects. These results demonstrate new forms of collaboration between engineers and architects and of project management which, though not entirely representative of projects conducted under the MOP act, offer methodological contributions that could help make them more effective

A growing number of contemporary scientific organizations collaborate with crowds for diverse tasks of the scientific process. These collaborations are often designed as citizen science projects. The collaboration is an opportunity for scientific structures in a context of massive data deluge which lead organizations to face limits in terms of resources and capabilities. However, in such new forms of cooperation a major crisis is caused when tasks delegated to the crowd require a certain inventiveness - solving problems, formulating scientific hypotheses - and when these projects have to be repeated in the organization. From two experimental studies based on an original modeling, this thesis studies the management mechanisms needed to ensure the performance of projects delegated to the crowd. We show that the performance is linked to the management of two types of capitalization: a cross-capitalization (each participant can reuse the work of the other participants); a sequential capitalization (capitalization by the participants then by the organizers). In addition, this research highlights the figure of a new managerial figure to support the capitalization, the "manager of inventive crowds", essential for the success of the projects

This thesis work is a part of the project CAS (CIMOSA Application Server) which consists in setting up an information system (I. S. ) useful for enterprise systems and applications design. The core of this I. S. Is a common referential for a chain of enterprises. Indeed, the work thesis was focusing on designing such referential, which allows to model enterprise systems through their business processes. This must be fulfilled by respecting the common objectives of the chain. Thus, the resulting models are capitalized in a systems repository of each enterprise, where they are shared to develop business process applications. The referential offers a methodology of modeling which is integrated in a meta-model based on CIMOSA approach. The physical implementation of this meta-model was realized by "autonomous" and reusable components, which we called: "Enterprise Modeling Components" (E. M. C. ). The design of the meta-model and the components is formalized by the Unified Modeling Language (U. M. L. ) to facilitate subsequent improvements and computing development. To validate the approach, a software prototype of a framework has been developed while referring to the E. M. C. Components. The framework objectives are automating the enterprise systems modeling. The models capitalization ensured by the module S. I. R. S. (Système Interactif de Recherche de Séquences "Interactive System for Sequences Search") existent in the Laboratory. The prototype has been developed with Visual BASIC language in object-oriented programming
Delgado, Lorena. "Design of innovation spaces in universities : a tool to support the management of Academy-Industry projects." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Université de Lorraine, 2022. http://www.theses.fr/2022LORR0130.
Universities are a very important actor in contributing to the development of countries, not only from an academic and research point of view, but also from a linkage role with industry and society. Advances in science and technology make it possible to provide answers to different problems and needs in all areas of development. So, innovation and specifically innovation spaces (IS) represent an opportunity for collaboration between universities and their environment. However, the great diversity of types of innovation spaces presents a challenge in its implementation. Each type of space proposes a different configuration, objectives, operation and results, making it difficult to formalize a reference framework for their creation and management. This thesis seeks to answer the question of how to design and manage an IS in a university to support the development of its missions. A conceptual model is proposed considering the intersection between the factors inherent to innovation spaces and the factors that represent the university's missions, represented in 7 dimensions (strategic, physical, technological, social, emotional, cognitive and financial). Based on the conceptual model, a tool is proposed to evaluate the maturity of the innovation space by obtaining a multidimensional diagnosis. Based on the diagnosis, a recommendations plan is generated that proposes two strategies to support decision-making in the definition of IS improvement plans. Finally, in order to work on the dynamics of the space, a management tool for project development is proposed. The tool analyzes the projects' needs profile and the result of the IS maturity assessment to define a follow-up plan based on the stage gate methodology. The experimentation phase is carried out in two stages: first, the conceptual model is applied in different IS in universities in Chile to evaluate their level of maturity. Second, an innovation space is chosen among the universities studied and the management tool is implemented in the development of a project. For the managers of the innovation spaces studied, both the evaluation model and the project monitoring tool achieve their objective of supporting decision making for the planning and operation of the space, indicating to them what concrete actions they should adopt according to their development objectives

Serious games (SGs) seem to be a much appropriate educational format for being initiated to industrial engineering (IE) methodologies as the latter consist for people to follow a common process under some conditions to achieve some collective performances. However, the existing SGs design studies have several limitations, especially for designers like IE teachers without game design expertise. This work aims at proposing a design process adapted to SGs on IE methodologies. We make five contributions. First, we propose a design language for representing the structure of an SG hierarchically. Second, we propose a generic design framework for an SG following a standard V-model and participatory approach to define, verify, and validate the SG structure progressively. Third, we propose a template to decompose an IE methodology into seven categories of descriptive elements to be able to specify them as learning objectives. Seven experts were asked to use it to describe twelve IE methodologies they are familiar with. Fourth, we put forward an adapted V-model for IE games, explaining how given methodology’s descriptive elements can inspire each design object of the SG. Our fifth and last contribution is the sufficient elaboration of an SG in innovation engineering, specifically to teach Radical Innovation Design (RID) methodology. Twelve design sessions were needed to follow the V-model design process. Its gameplay is about expressing and eradicating value buckets on urban mobility. The game comprises six episodes, a game board inspired by the RID process, seven card desks, sophisticated game mechanics, and a simple two-dimensional scoring for fighting at the same time for developing usefulness for mobility users and business opportunity for its own mobility company. We organized two validation experiments with four experienced subjects and three novices in innovation. The validations showed that the game offers a playful learning experience, validating the RID game itself and, in turn, partially validating the adapted V-model. This research provides designers with a structured process that relates SG design elements and IE methodology objects. The complete design of an SG in an innovation engineering methodology should be replicable in other IE domains

As an industrial point of view, product design activity answer to firmsdevelopment needs. This activity requires a lot of heterogeneous knowledge and skills, whichhave to converge towards a common goal: describe a product meeting the market needs.Consequently, there are many interactions between the firm, its market and the design activity. Therefore, a development project must take into account specifications and constraints of eachelement. The goal of this PhD is to define a generic methodological framework allowing to builtand control a product design project depending on the firm development goals and its ownresources. For this, it is important to include many technical factors (such innovation, multitechnologicalproducts and numerical data specificities) but also economical and financialfactors (as the difficult competitive environment or limited financial resources). All theseheterogeneous parameters involve a global approach of the problem. That is why a two-stageresearch approach is applied to build this framework. In the first stage, a conceptual diagram isdesigned using items coming from the company goals, its market and design activity.Interactions and behavior of all these items are deduced from this conceptual diagram. Theseresults are formalized through a generic process. This last one is finally applied to severalexamples from SME working in the mechanical field

In our growing service economy, designing innovative services is critical. But how is the value of innovative services designed? Our thesis questions how the immaterial and experiential value of innovative services is shaped, and especially the role of visual representations in making present a service that doesn’t exist yet. We aim at answering two research questions: what are the different valuation tests that structure the service design process ? What are the different roles of visual representations, as valuation devices, in those valuation tests? Our study is based on two complementary case studies of service design projects : the first one is a pedagogical case, the second one is an industrial case. We adopt an approach in terms of valuation and consider the service design process as a collective process, in which actors express conflicts and elaborate compromises on the value of future servicesOur model shows that the value of services is shaped through a collective valuation process that is structured by valuation tests. Those valuation tests are characterized by four dimensions : the objects and registers of valuations, the actors interacting and the valuation operations performed. We show how representations support, stimulate and, sometimes, hinder the collective work on value. We highlight how their material characteristics have an impact on the valuation tests (in particular with regard to their types, their level of polishing, their level of verisimilitude and their equipment). These observations lead us to suggest two types of collective work on value: a convergence one, in which actors align their valuations and in which representations are value catalysts ; a demonstration one, in which actors try to enroll new actors in the network and in which representations are value demonstrators. Our results allow us to model the work on the value of future services: they show how this value is shaped by and in valuation test, in which visual representations are both tools for constructing the value of future services and the tools that support the actors’ social and political interactions on this value. Our model thus contributes to a better understanding of service design and of the role of visual representations in the design process. We highlight the critical and strategic part of visual representations in the value creation of services. Hence, we provide services designers and service innovation managers with keys for understanding and practicing service innovation

The question of digital transition is a key issue in architectural design. The objective of our research is to propose collaborative practices to facilitate this digital transition. We focus on so-called "agile" practices to improve communication and coordination between architects, engineers or project owner. These practices must allow these actors to exchange their architectural intentions and evaluate them while ensuring that their proposals are satisfactory concerning the client's needs. These practices consist in collaboratively filling out a book of intentions, requiring confrontations of opinions, playing a card game obliging all designers to speak out, holding short, daily meetings to explain their progress or being a coach, whose objective is to make life easier for their employees

Abstract
Galafassi, Ana Gelsemina. "Processo de gestão de projetos de design e maturidade em gestão de projetos de empresas da indústria moveleira : estudos de casos no Vale do Taquari/RS." reponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da UFRGS, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/10183/29135.
Project management has been used by organizations as a tool to structure, organize and improve their practices as well as projects to align their strategic objectives. In turn, managing design projects, means planning the management of new product development and management should involve knowledge of how the activities of design. Focusing on the industrial sector, this study aims to examine the management of design projects in the furniture industry in Vale do Taquari, a productive segment that has significant prominence in the national process industry. The study was based on the proposition of Borja de Mozota, whereby the design management is inserted in the three organizational levels: operational, tactical and strategic. It is intended to apply also maturity models of project management as further evidence of the research. To develop this work, a research of qualitative study, characterized as a study of cases, whose data was collected in personal interviews with managers from two furniture manufacturers. The relation of project management design and analysis of the level of maturity in project management has enabled the identification of substantial points and improvement opportunities within the companies studied. It is inferred, in this sense, that companies that know, plan, manage and control their processes and the development of their products are, generally more prepared for competition and innovation. The result of this study has showed that, even without a systematization and knowledge of the concepts, the researched companies deal with the issue of management of design projects in their organizational levels.

This research is part of an interdisciplinary reflection on the game design of didactic video games often called serious games. Everything started with an observation : video games dedicated to the learning activity which are currently on the market suffer from many weaknesses regarding both their funny and didactic characteristics. The analysis of these games and their conception highlighted that even if the will of the designers was to combine those two aspects in the same object, the dichotomy between the “clichés” conveyed by the game and the work (serious) persisted in the minds subsequently conditioning their design. We therefore suggested a new approach to the game design of these video games, with theoretical modeling that covers the entire design process and whose implementation took the form of a mixed project management based on research and professional practices in the field of video games and information and communication sciences on the one hand, and in the field of education and the sciences of education on the other hand. We developed an "inclusive" design engineering that requires the skills of teacher-didactics specialist and game designer, in which the experience offered by the video game comes from the merging of funny and didactic aspects in a unique game scenario. Finally, we are testing such engineering proposal by making and testing a prototype video game focused on the nutrition field called "A table!", in order to figure out if it is able to remedy the weaknesses of serious games currently available

Project Management has been affirming itself as a factor of great relevance in the present time for the development of Projects. According to Mansur (2009), the rate of succeed projects in Brazil has been increasing due to the success of the project management initiatives and techniques. On the other hand, managing intensive design projects is not a simple task because, in addition to the common needs to any project, design intensive projects always deal with the development of a new artifact, and for this creative characteristic, they require a lot of attention to special conditions. To facilitate this task there are numerous methodological support tools developed by authors and scholars from administration, engineering and technology areas. However, the records of these tools are scattered, difficult to be used by the designer who do not find simple descriptions or a catalog that classifies tools and facilitate their access and knowledge. In this context, this research is the result of exploration of project management tools applied to design projects. From the studies on project management and some methodologies such as Pmbok, IPMA, Scrum, Kanban and Extreme Programming, reflected on the peculiarities of design project. It was possible to create a classification and presentation model with a sample of 38 management tools in a simple and self-explanatory format applied on design intensive projects examples. For this, qualitative tests were carried out with a group of eight designers, where they could test hypothetical classification proposals and help in the adjustments of these proposals and thus in the construction of the model. This work is the result of a research to obtain the master's degree in design at UFPE.

This study examines the design process management and its interrelation with the constructive process of multifamily residential buildings. Based on an exploratory survey to identify and understand the methodologies for managing the design activity into two companies in the metropolitan region of Goiania, this work is divided into three phases: literature review, desk research and field research (based interviews with key players in the process). To support this work in the investigation of major issues influencing the design process, one of the key steps in the roadmap construction work was the adoption of two reference models: (i) the reference model for building integrated design process management proposed by Romano (2003), and (ii) the manuals scope of projects and services for the real estate industry (AGESC, 2010). These models helped in the development of a roadmap for semi-structured individual and group members with different professional process in two companies. With the purpose of fostering multidisciplinary cooperation and integration between different actors, the results of this study may be relevant to people who will handle or manage projects so that they can reflect on how to improve the postures adopted by the guidelines prepared and that they cast in development of practices and progress of the project management of buildings.

Skills are complex management objects which are essential to define employers’ needs and draw one’s profile and wishes. Aggregated in positions, jobs, professions, they form a transactional framework in a space of abstract artefacts and their links. This thesis aims to assert the centrality of a mapping device by examining: the benefits of a clearing of this space, especially trough digital transformation; the indispensable support of technological artefacts to help a person or a group, to identify, decide, evolve in this space; the role of cartographer to be taken by the human resources function. The research is based on a professional career in the field of human resources and methodologically, crosses needs around the notion of competence with the contributions of modern cartography (GIS, geomatics, data visualisation). It leads to a synthesis by the design of a SaaS platform demonstrator, and a cartographic methodology for abstract space

The diversity of the industrial projects and market requirements increasingly demand design process improvement. Concerning the industrial projects, a field in which there are quite few research work published, the rising demand for speed in construction, lower costs and quality assurance generate complexity in managing the design process. Through a group of case studies, this Master Thesis aims to describe the design process and analyse the design management practices performed in industrial projects, as well as to discuss the design managers activities and difficulties. The results will be evaluated in order to propose guidelines to possible management improvements to raise the probability of project success. For the design phase to be performed with the desired level of success, the information provided to designers needs to be complete and reliable. For this, client engagement from the early beginning is crucial, creating a collaborative action in order to achieve the project goals. As it was observed in the case studies, the management practices performed in industrial projects have shown several difficulties and failures, an issue that, adding to the clients lack of commitment with regard to collaboration in the process, may hinder the success of industrial projects.

Urban development strategy has become a main topic in town action in keeping with a new urban design approach and a new way of acting. However, the different actors have not defined this word and neither a protocol process and so many urban strategies are shoved because of the ignorance of urban economics. After having shown an analyst of the development of the word and the evolution of ways of applying urban design strategies, the thesis proposes to contribute to organising the urban development strategy process, on one hand, and on the urban design aspect, on the other hand. This double approach wants to considere both objective interests and protagonists games, especially the coproducers of the projects to set the wheels in motion

Successive evaluations of French Military hospitals by the Court of Auditors point out a sub-activity that generates a deficit. The French Military Health Care Service acknowledged these points but considers that military activities (in particular participation in External Operation), may explain, at least partly, the deficit and sub-activity mentioned by the Court of Auditors. This practical question feeds the theoretical reflection conducted in this thesis. A detailed description of external operations shows that they can be considered as soft projects. These projects are characterized by the progressive determination of their goals: that are not completely known when the project starts. The literature questions adequacy of project management standards to soft projects and the following research question emerges: what is the role of stakeholders’ engagement and planning flexibility in soft projects management? The thesis is based on an intervention research. A simulation is built to objectify external operations management in military hospitals. It highlights the impact of external operations on care production and consequently on hospitals ‘deficit. Two analyses are conducted to understand the causes of this impact. First, an analysis of the current planning process of external operations suggests that renewing planning methods can be necessary to offer a flexible planning based on cooperation. Second, the simulation reveals the important role of physicians and nurses’ commitment in managing external operations. This commitment, driven by strong relationships between project stakeholders, positively influences external operations’ outcomes. These observations allow theoretical progress on management tools for soft projects. Two concepts seem particularly suited to soft projects’ constraints: interactive planning developed in companies facing high uncertainties and relational contracting described by law and economics scholars. Interactive planning brings both flexibility and cooperation that appear decisive to build a response to soft goals. Relational contracts help understand how high commitment can bring simultaneously motivation and adaptability, that are both essential to achieve soft goals. To conclude, I suggest structuring projects’ space according to the degree of determination of projects’ goals and the degree of stakeholders’ engagement in the project. These dimensions allow defining areas where project management standards will be applicable and those where they might need to be adapted to soft projects. The diversity of soft projects (public sector, international development, organizational change) calls for such a structure that can facilitate the spread of specific management tools

In civil construction the management of design may positively contribute to the results of an enterprise in general way. However, throughout the development of this research, we realize that the management of designs can be much more relevant in building rehabilitation. Of course, the levels of complexity in rehabilitation process vary according to the grade of intervention desired and this affects the formatting of a more adequate model of the enterprise management. Management of designs, whenever it is based on appropriate principles and methods, may contribute to the results at the building site in order to provide a balanced relationship among the agents involved, mainly between the two groups responsible for the designs and its carrying out. This work intends to go deeper into the discussion of these issues by presenting the results of a bibliographical research on the matter, to mark the enterprises in rehabilitation, interfaces between design and work, and to discuss the role coordination of designs plays in the building rehabilitation context. Besides this, it shows the results of field surveys carried out in two rehabilitation enterprises in São Paulo-Brazil and one in Lyon-France.

Automotive design is a complex and uncertain process creating a multidimensional value. This process is also characterized by a difficult coordination of the multitude of actors from different areas involved in the design a complex and uncertain product. An analysis of existing control methods in the literature allows us to identify some limits which hamper the simultaneously response to all the characteristics of this process. We propose an innovative control method articulating Value, Opportunities and Risks. Our method contributes to the theoretical works proposing the integration of two major control fields: Performance Management (PM) and Risk Management (RM). Our method allows overcoming the limitations of existing control methods through the adoption of a holistic (taking into account all the dimensions of value), a systemic (taking into account the complex interactions between the various components of this process) and a dynamic approach (by a systematic integration of risks and opportunities to the control of value creation process). To implement this control method in PSA group design process we built a generic prototype. This allowed the mobilization of actors by fixing an improvement trajectory and a dynamic co-conception of an applicable version for PSA.The results of the implementation allowed us to : i) confirm the benefits of our control method articulating Value, Opportunities and Risks which interested several key actors and lead to some effective improvements in vehicle projects management and actors coordination and; ii) reveal difficulties dues to the gap between some of our proposals, seeking to build tools reflecting the design process complexity, and willingness of stakeholders to simplify the method and to focus, in a context of crisis, on the economic dimension and risk management. In our thesis, we also propose some perspectives to improve Management Control function, through the integration of our control method, for a better match with the characteristics of the automotive design process

Design Project Management is an efficient tool for creating and implementing an entrepreneurial culture. But for the company to manage design projects, there must be a training program to its employees in this area. The company must incorporate new systems available in the market in order to be able to maximize its revenues. Therefore, the importance of design management for organizations all over the world is remarkable. However, in the Southern Brazil regional scenario, there are not many studies developed in the Design Project Management area. This dissertation aims at analysing the characteristics of the design management process developed by design companies in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Besides, the study also intends to offer theoretical support for the identification and improvement of local design companies’ design project management process. It was based on a background research in design management area and interview with experts. In addition, the areas of PMBOK (2004) were analyzed, in order to discuss the way local design companies develop their design management process. The study results point out how design companies in Porto Alegre/RS develop their design management process. All design companies studied have different management processes, but they were not always formally established.

Generally large-scale industrial projectsheavily rely on development and involve a degree of technical risk. Besides, each project calls for production and organisation methods which ought to be clearly defined. The techniques used in the planning of projects are usually derived from the pert or metra potentiel method methods. However, the latter fail to integrate a number of situations which are frequent in the context of development projects. The present thesis aims at reviewing a set of methods, the most important of which is the "graphical evaluation and review technique". They allow to take into account real-life situations by resorting to disjunctive logics. This research also assesses the contribution of such methods an demonstrates how they can be integrated into decision-making and project management planning. In the process, it identifies a number of criteria on which to base project abandonment

Abstract: Traditionally, the product delivery with higher benefits, has restrictions imposed by the investors (building companies, main contractors), in addition to the difficulties imposed by a highly fragmented product development process, where individual interests difficult the possibility for collaboration between all involved. Furthermore, objectives, means and restrictions change naturally during design definition until everything is aligned e consistent between one another. These characteristics point out the Target Value Design (TVD) ¿ a management practice that seeks to turn the client's cost restrictions into inputs for design creativity ¿ an important tool to incentive changes. The objective of this research is to develop a proposal for TVD integration, in the design process management for construction housing products in Brazil. The research method has two phases: an exploratory case study, carried out in both in a construction company and an architecture's office. The second phase gathers two case studies in two construction companies. This proposal uses TVD principles, divided into three levels of collaboration of the actors involved in the design process management. This application demands an initial diagnosis, so the companies can elaborate an action plan for offer initial changes in the traditional model. The research's contribution is to discuss the cost restrictions as trigger for creativity and higher value products for final users, in a non-collaborative environment

We discuss the problem of project scheduling encountered in aircraft assembly workshop. The scheduling problem under study may be viewed as a new extension of the standard Ressource Constrained Project Scheduling Problem (RCPSP for short). We generalize the multi resource and multi mode RCPSP with resource flexibility by additionally including calendars, skill constraints, transfers resources and specifics constraints. A mathematical formulation, two heuristics and a metaheuristic are proposed to solve this strongly NP hard problem, and they are compared with some methods of the literature
