The objective of the present study provides further data comparing retention, marginal integrity and caries preventive effects of two fissure sealants (glass ionomer based; GC Fuji VII Capsule [Fuji VII] and ormocer based; Admira Seal [AS]) in children. This study was designed as a randomized single-blind clinical trial. The permanent first molars (PFMs) of 50 children, 7-13 years of age (mean age: 8.9<1.3 years), were sealed with a split-mouth design. Fissure sealants applied to the PFMs according to the manufacturer's recommendations by one pediatric dentist. Clinical evaluation of the sealants was carried out to record retention, marginal integrity and presence of caries at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months after placement by the other pediatric dentist. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox's regression models were used to estimate the probability of two sealants success. Results: Alpha and Bravo retention rates at the end of follow-up were 13% and 80% for Fuji VII and 3% and 83% for AS, respectively. For retention and marginal integrity between fissure sealants was found similar survival rates (p>0.05). After 24 months, presence of caries was 16% for Fuji VII and 32% for AS (p<0.05). Conclusion: Fuji VII and AS exhibited similar retention and marginal integrity during 24 months. However, Fuji VII was showed better results than AS for caries preventive effect. Consequently, Fuji VII sealants may be a better choice for preventing occlusal caries.

Glass ionomer cements possess several properties that support their consideration in a wide variety of clinical applications including Pit and fissure sealants. The aim of this study was to compare and evaluate Fuji III and Fuji VII glass ionomer sealants in terms of retention, caries incidence and salivary fluoride release between two groups of children aged 6 and-8 years respectively. One hundred and ten first permanent molars were sealed and the clinical evaluation showed no incidence of caries. There was partial or complete retention of the sealant in 80% of the treated teeth in both groups at the one-year evaluation. Irrespective of the sealant used, the pattern of fluoride release remained consistent, with an initial high fluoride release followed by low prolonged leakage before returning to baseline value at the end of one year.

Introduction: As one of the most important dental diseases, caries cannot be treated with classic therapeutic measures, but very often, there is a need for preventive and prophylactic measures. Aim: The aim of this study was to assess clinical efficiency of composite materials and glass-ionomer cements as pit and fissure sealants in caries prevention. Materials and Methods: The study comprised 50 patients (141 teeth), both sexes, 6-7 years old with at least two erupted first permanent molars. The main diagnostic criterion was smooth enamel surface with no probe faltering on the tooth. Materials tested in this study were two composite materials (Heiloseal-Opak and Helioseal-Transparent) and two glass-ionomers (Fisurit and Fuji VII). For clinical assessment of these materials, modified Cvar-Ryge criteria were used. Results: The obtained results showed no statistically significant differences among materials in respect to retention, marginal adaptation, discoloration and secondary caries. The difference was significant in respect to surface roughness between Fuji VII and Fisurit and Fuji VII and Helioseal-Opak (p<0.05). Conclusion: Composite sealant Heiloseal-Opak and glass-ionomer Fuji VII showed better clinical results in respect to all tested parameters compared to Helioseal-Transparent and Fisurit. .

200 children of the age groups of 3-5 years and 6-7 years were selected for sealant application, each consisting of 100 children. The clinical retention of Fuji VII was tested in both primary and permanent molar teeth at time intervals of 6 months, 12 months and 24 months follow-up and compared with a resin based sealant, Concise. Results demonstrated that there was no difference in the performance of the materials in primary and permanent teeth.

Abstract Aim The anatomical pits and fissures of the teeth have long been recognized as susceptible areas for the initiation of dental caries. The extreme vulnerability to decay of these pits and fissures on the occlusal surfaces has prompted dental scientists to seek methods of caries prevention. Motivated by the role of pit and fissure sealants in caries prevention, the aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of Fuji VII® glass ionomer sealant and Concise® resin-based sealant. Methods and Materials An in vitro study was undertaken using forty premolars extracted for orthodontic reasons. The teeth were divided into two groups and sealants were applied. One was an experimental group using Fuji VII® as a pit and fissure sealant and the other a control group using Concise®. The teeth were kept in gentian violet dye for 24 hours, the sectioned samples were observed for the extent of dye penetration, and scores were based on established scoring criteria. Results The comparison of the performance of the two groups showed a statistically significant difference. Conclusion The Concise® resin-based sealant performed better in terms of sealing ability than did the Fuji VII® glass ionomer sealant. Citation Ganesh M, Shobha T. Objectives: Fluoride release/recharge properties of fissure sealants are important for their longterm inhibition of caries. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between fluoride release and recharge of pit-and-fissure sealants.Methods: Specimens were prepared from 5 different sealant materials: Fissurit F, a conventional resin; Fuji VII, a glass-ionomer cement (GIC); Fuji II LC, a resin-modified GIC; Ionosit, a polyacidmodified composite resin (PMRC); and Aelite Flo, a flowable composite resin. Specimens stored in a polyethylene test tube containing 5.0 ml ultrapure water. On day 21, specimens were exposed to 1.23% APF gel. Fluoride release was measured using a fluoride-specific ion electrode at 1-7, 14, 21, 22, 28, 35 and 42 days.Results: The glass-ionomer based sealants Fuji VII and Fuji II LC had significantly higher fluoride release than the other materials at all times tested (P<.05). Fluoride release of all materials tested increased following exposure to APF gel (P<.05).Conclusions: Within the limitations of this short-term study, glass ionomer-based sealants were shown to have higher initial fluoride release as well as higher fluoride recharge capacity than other sealants. In view of the need for aesthetics, restorations of teeth will typically be completed using tooth colored restorative materials. With the advent of biomimetic restorative materials, such as glass ionomer cements (GIC), much greater emphasis is now being placed on how well such materials can resist the challenge of acids that are present in foods and drinks, or gastric contents that are regurgitated. This laboratory study compared the dissolution and behavior of five GIC materials (GC Fuji® VII, GC Fuji® Bulk, GC Fuji® IX Fast, Fuji® IX Extra and GC Equia® Forte Fil) when exposed to three acids (citric acid, phosphoric acid and lactic acid), versus ultrapure deionized water, which was used as a control. Discs of each material GIC were submerged in solutions and percentage weight changes over time determined. Subsequently, the GIC materials were also placed as a part of standardized Class II sandwich restorations in bovine teeth (n = 20), and submerged in the solutions, and the extent of GIC dissolution and protection of the adjacent tooth was scored. Weight loss increased with time and with acid concentration. Overall, the most soluble material was GC Fuji® IX Extra, while GC Fuji® IX Fast and GC Fuji® Bulk were less soluble, and the least soluble material was GC Equia® Forte Fil. The most destructive solution for both the discs and for GIC restorations in teeth was 10% citric acid, while the least destructive acid was 0.1% lactic acid. The more recent GIC materials GC Fuji® Bulk and GC Equia® Forte Fil showed increased acid resistance over the older GIC materials, and this further justifies their use in open sandwich Class II restorations in more hostile environments.

&gt;Purpose: To compare the occlusal and gingival microleakage of Class-II composite restorations utilizing etch-and-rinse and self-etch adhesives and different liner materials in primary and permanent teeth. Study design: Standardized class-II cavities were prepared in freshly-extracted sound primary and permanent molars (n=80/each), with all cavosurface margins involving enamel. The main experimental groups were; A. Single Bond 2/primary teeth; B. Adper SE Plus/primary teeth; C. Single Bond 2/permanent teeth; and D. Adper SE Plus/permanent teeth. Each group comprised 4 subgroups (n=10/each) with respect to the liner material employed (n=10/subgroup): 1. Fuji VII; 2. Fuji Triage; 3. Filtek Supreme XT Flowable Composite, and 4. No liner. All teeth were restored with Filtek Supreme XT Universal Nanofilled Composite. Following thermocycling and immersion in basic fuchsin, the extent of microleakage was measured on crown sections using image analysis. The data were analyzed with Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, Mann-Whitney U-Test and Kruskal-Wallis One-Way ANOVA at ?=0.05. Results: In both primary and permanent teeth the use of etch-and-rinse adhesive resulted in similar occlusal and gingival microleakage values (p&gt;0.05). As for the self-etch adhesive, similar results were observed (p&gt;0.05) with the exception of significantly less occlusal leakage in the Fuji Triage VII and Fuji Triage subgroups of primary teeth than those of permanent teeth (pÃ0.05). When the effects of liner material and the type of adhesive were disregarded, significantly more gingival microleakage was observed in primary teeth than in permanent teeth (pÃ0.01), while the occlusal microleakage values were similar (p&gt;0.05). Irrespective of the tooth type and adhesive material, comparison of subgroups containing a liner material with those without one revealed no significant differences for both occlusal and gingival microleakage values (p&gt;0.05). Conclusions: Occlusal microleakage was similar in both primary and permanent teeth, while a lesser extent of gingival seal was observed in primary teeth. Overall, placement of a liner material did not improve resistance to microleakage.

Introduction. The quest was to investigate the claims made regarding the surface protective effect of Fuji VII on dental enamel, in particular on vulnerable erupting teeth. This was of clinical importance considering the demonstrated potential of glass ionomer cements to enhance remineralization and inhibit demineralization. It would be an advantage especially in developing countries to be able to use this material as part of the prevention program to reduce caries prevalence. The aims of this study were: 1. To investigate whether a coat of Fuji VII on enamel can prevent formation of a carious lesion when challenged with acidic solution. 2. To evaluate the effect of a Fuji VII coat on an incipient carious lesion when exposed to remineralizing solution, and to answer the question, 'will it inhibit or enhance the remineralization process within the enamel lesion'? 3. To evaluate whether the presence of a Fuji VII coat over an incipient carious lesion can prevent the progression of the lesion when further challenged with an artificial caries acidic solution. Finally, assuming that some degree of remineralization of existing initial lesion under Fuji VII coat is achievable, to determine whether there would be any changes to the mineral profile when the same lesion is further exposed to demineralizing solution. Materials and methods. Three sets of experiments were carried out in vitro, trying to simulate the condition under which Fuji VII would be used in the mouth as closely as possible. For the fìrst experiment, 15 molar teeth were sectioned mesio-distally then bucco-ligually to produce four sections of enamel. Only two buccal sections were selected and painted with varnish to leave exposed windows. One section of the tooth was painted with Fuji VII and the other section left uncoated. All sections were immersed individually in artificial caries demineralizing solution at 37°C and sets of fîve pairs removed after 14, 28 and 42 days of exposure, The depth of demineralization lesions was determined using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The second experiment involved sectioning frve molars. The crowns were sectioned longitudinally into four segments as described previously in which 14 day lesions had been generated to permit four categories of exposure to various treatments. Two of each four sections had Fuji VII coated. After 35 days in the remineralizing solution, the sections were prepared to permit examination using Electron Probe Micro-Analysis (EPMA) to determine whether there was evidence of increased uptake of selected mineral ions from the remineralizing solution into the demineralized lesion. The third experiment again used similar sections of enamel in which 14 day lesions had been generated, though all coated with Fuji VII. One section was challenged with artificial caries acidic buffer alone and another one had been exposed to remineralization solution for 35 days, then subjected to a further acidic challenge. All sections were prepared for EPMA to permit determination of whether further acidic challenge increased the lesion depth or resulted in any changes in profrles of mineral distribution. Results. The results revealed that no carious lesion is formed on intact enamel when a Fuji VII coat is used to seal it, even following 42 days of acidic challenge. In unprotected enamel, lesion depth of 191.4μm,393.2μm and 422.0μm were recorded after 14, 28 and 42 days exposure to acidic challenge respectively. Furthermore, there is a potential for remineralization to take place even in the presence of a Fuji VII layer but to a limited extent. This is demonstrated by an increase in the level of calcium uptake in the section coated with Fuji VII though the increment noted is small. Little or no further mineral loss was noted in those lesions protected by Fuji VII coatings exposed to further acidic challenge, though again with differing results between samples. Those samples that were first remineralized before subjected to further acidic challenge also showed a positive result of remineralization with little evidence of further demineralization. Conclusions. A coating of Fuji VII was confirmed to prevent caries formation in this ln vitro study even following 42 days of demineralization challenge. Within the limitation of the small number of samples providing the results for Experiments 2 and 3, there was evidence that Fuji VII could allow diffusion of calcium, phosphorus, and fluoride ions into underlying incipient caries lesions, which remained unaffected by further acidic challenge. However this was not consistent between teeth specimens. A number of aspects of the role and mechanism of action of Fuji VII need further investigation, though involving much larger sample numbers.

Este libro empezó a escribirse hace más de veinte años. El punto final del texto que sigue fue puesto hace más de diez. En el medio, la rutina de escribir cada domingo la columna que saldría publicada en el suplemento No, del diario <i>Página/12</i>. Una enorme ternura me envuelve frente a la nueva puesta en papel de esta red de palabras que una vez me salvaron la vida. Ternura por esa que fui, por la ingenuidad que sobrevive entre líneas, por las comas y los puntos que sobran por todos lados, por esa heterosexualidad convencida de la que me fugué con tanto placer. Todo está dicho en las páginas que siguen, conservé el prólogo de la edición original, del año 2004, en honor a esa sucesión de presentes que hilvanan una trayectoria vital. Muchas cosas han cambiado desde entonces, ahora sabemos que los tratamientos para el vih-sida son realmente efectivos, que el estigma se ha morigerado al mismo tiempo que se aplazó la amenaza de muerte y que hasta se puede prescindir de los condones cuando la carga viral permanece indetectable. Otras siguen igual, hay cuerpos que importan y otros que no, quienes mueren por causas relacionadas al vih sida son en su enorme mayoría pobres, personas trans, indi*s, negr*s; excluid*s. Pero no tengo intenciones de hablar sobre sida, aunque ahí está el origen de esta trama.

“É com grande prazer que faço a abertura desse relatório. Ele muito me orgulha, pois me representa, me homenageia e abre oportunidades para os meus. Meu nome é Anyky Gonçalves de Lima, mais conhecida como Anyky Lima. Tenho 65 anos e eu falo da importância de hoje ter o ambulatório trans aqui em Minas Gerais. Eu sou carioca e nunca tive acesso a saúde na minha juventude. Aos 12 anos de idade, eu fui expulsa de casa, por já me perceber uma pessoa trans, uma criança ainda. Naquela época, as pessoas não respeitavam a nossa identidade de gênero, e ainda não respeitam. Naquela época, não respeitavam o nosso nome social, e ainda não respeitam. Isso nos impedia de irmos aos lugares públicos, inclusive em hospitais. Olhavam pra gente na recepção de um serviço e via um nome masculino em nosso documento e chamavam a gente desse nome. Eu via muita gente, muitas amigas morrerem dentro de casa com vergonha de ir ao hospital, não saiam em lugares públicos por não serem respeitadas. Porque não tem nada pior que está numa recepção de um hospital, uma sala cheia de gente e o médico, a recepcionista ou qualquer outro funcionário gritar o nome masculino e levantar aquela mulher feita, toda produzida. O acesso a saúde no que se refere a um ambulatório trans, especializado para nós mulheres e homens trans, é muito recente. Na minha época, quando comecei a minha transição, não tinha. Fiz tudo sozinha, com erros e acertos. E hoje tem o ambulatório trans para nos acolher. Um orgulho muito grande que eu tenho é o ambulatório receber o meu nome. Foi uma homenagem que eu não vou esquecer. Normalmente as pessoas fazem homenagem para quem já morreu, e eu estou viva, "muito viva". Só lembrando que nos matam aos 35 anos e eu estou aqui resistindo a tudo isso. Então isso pra mim foi uma homenagem muito grande. Me sinto honrada com a consideração das pessoas por terem colocado o nome do ambulatório de Anyky Lima. Hoje eu sou uma usuária do serviço. Eu me consulto neste ambulatório e me sinto agradecida por, depois de tantos anos, ter um serviço que me atenda e atenda os meus, que me trata e tratam a minha população. Eu vivi 65 anos para ver essa maravilha que aconteceu, então eu acho que o ambulatório é pra mim a coisa mais importante que aconteceu em Minas Gerais, pois atende uma população que não tinha acesso nenhum a saúde e hoje são tratadas com dignidade e respeito.”

Você subestima sua própria inteligência ao mentir pra mim, pois está claro de todas as formas o quanto você está fazendo um esforço para sustentar essa história. Nada mais que o merecido, no momento, apenas estou retribuindo tudo o que você fez no passado para me trazer infelicidade. A felicidade é com toda a certeza todas as coisas e momentos de satisfação das suas necessidades egóicas a qual fui apenas o meio de satisfação? Isso tudo com uma grande pitada de sadomasoquismo... Muito bem e agora que estamos aqui neste porão escuro, convivemos para sobreviver? Em nenhum momento eu sequer tive a intenção de conviver... E com isso tirando a faca com o cabo de osso como um passe de mágica de dentro de sua roupa aproxima-se lentamente com um sorriso de satisfação entre lágrimas de tristeza, pela decisão que não foi tomada de forma deliberada por uma pessoa só. Então agora você é todos ao mesmo tempo? Eu sou o pai, o filho, e o espírito santo, o advogado, o promotor, o juiz o executor, eu sou você e eu, e todos nós ao mesmo tempo, eu sou o Carrasco EGO. Em rápido movimento a lâmina passa abrindo um novo sorriso vermelho no escritor... Agora vamos nós outra vez para o mesmo início. Dizendo isso, o andarilho corta seus pulsos e deita abraçado com o corpo ainda quente de seu próprio pai. Quando Pedro Afonso Maia vai até o porão de suas memórias encontra bem mais que material para escrever seu livro.

Recebi com alegria o convite da senhora Marcia Arantes Marques, editora chefe da editora Bookerfield, para publicação de minha dissertação de mestrado na Universidade Católica de Brasília, UCB, cuja defesa da banca se deu em 10 de abril de 2015. Foi motivo de satisfação para mim por considerar reconhecimento de um trabalho árduo de quase três anos de muito estudo, pesquisa e tudo o mais, contudo, compreendo que o reconhecimento maior é para o protagonista que compôs o corpus da pesquisa do mestrado, o humorista Chico Anysio, com a personagem Salomé de Passo Fundo, com incisiva crítica política que impunha ao governo e ao então presidente do Brasil, João Baptista de Figueiredo, em pleno regime militar. E por que escolhi esse tema e essa personagem para o trabalho do mestrado? Sempre fui fã do Chico Anysio pelo humor refinado e pelo talento inquestionável por meio dos inúmeros personagens em seus programas humorísticos que eu fazia questão de ver. Alias, quem, no Brasil, não era e é fã do Chico, né. Além de fã, tive uma bela oportunidade com ele. Eu era apresentador de um programa de entrevistas na Rede Mundial de Televisão, atualmente Boa Vontade TV (emissora da Legião da Boa Vontade). O presidente da Instituição, José de Paiva Netto, recebeu o Chico Anysio para a exposição “Volta ao mundo sem sair de casa” na galeria de arte do Templo Ecumênico da LBV, em setembro de 2003, por sinal, uma galeria muito concorrida aqui na capital federal. Para quem não sabe, o Chico tinha também a incrível capacidade de pintar. Só para registro, aquela exposição foi sucesso, todos os quadros foram vendidos na noite do vernissage. Pois bem, Chico me concedeu entrevista exclusiva de 30 minutos. Ali, olho no olho, pude perceber que o talento do humorista e artista era maior do que eu conhecia e imaginava. Foi um Chico Anysio Show singular, com exclusividade! Quando chegou a hora do mestrado, na área da comunicação, eu já tinha em mente a abordagem que gostaria de pesquisar e defender. Mestrado e doutorado começam com um problema, um questionamento; e eu me questionava desde a década de 80, como o humorista conseguia, com a personagem Salomé de Passo Fundo, tecer crítica contundente a um presidente da República, em pleno governo militar, em uma TV aberta, portanto generalista, de grande penetração popular. Mesmo sendo uma crítica refinada, conseguia perpassar por todos os níveis da sociedade e gozava de grande audiência em todos os públicos. Então, foi assim que surgiu o tema, a pesquisa, o embasamento científico e acadêmico que culminaram na dissertação que agora torna-se um livro que, espero, possa servir de apoio a outros pesquisadores que desejam aventurar por essa trilha acadêmica do humor, da comicidade, da crítica política e da comunicação nestes tempos da modernidade. É bom lembrar que fazer humor não é somente ser engraçado, o humor vai além, é preciso ter talento. Como diria Henri Bergson que o riso é a quebra da lógica. E, saber fazer e demonstrar essa quebra da lógica, provocando o riso, é para poucos. Observe que algumas pessoas contam uma piada e todos riem e a mesma piada contada por quem não tem essa habilidade, não provoca o riso. É certo, então, afirmar que despertar o risível, também é ciência. Reafirmo agradecimento ao orientador de minha pesquisa, Prof. Dr. Alexandre Kieling, bem como às Profas. Dras. Cosette Espíndola de Castro e Lucieneida Dováo Praun que compuseram a minha Banca Avaliadora e em especial ao humorista André Lucas, filho de Chico Anysio, que gentilmente cedeu os episódios da Salomé, interpretados pelo pai na década de 1980, para a análise acadêmica. André nos alegrou com a sua presença na Banca, vindo do Rio de Janeiro especialmente para prestigiar o trabalho. Espero que esta pesquisa possa inspirar o leitor a compreender o alcance da abordagem da crítica política no humor de Chico Anysio e, oxalá, incentivar outros estudos de maior profundidade sobre o tema.

Via ι‎, Ƒ and 𝓕 with hook and macron have complex conjugate trace functions; this holds by ι‎-purity on the dense open set where Ƒ is lisse, and then on all of 𝓖 by a result of Gabber [Fuj-Indep, Thm. 3], cf. also [Ka-MMP, proof of 1.8.1 (i)].

Este artigo apresenta a pesquisa “A Casa de Marlene”, que venho desenvolvendo no meu doutorado em Artes, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes, Instituto de Ciências da Arte, Universidade Federal do Pará, desde 2018. Uma extensão da pesquisa que produzi no mestrado em Artes, na mesma instituição de ensino superior, de 2016 a 2018. É uma poética construída a partir da memória familiar e afetiva, em que fotografia, vídeo, som, escrita, olfato, paladar, tato e sentimento se fundem — e integra a linha de pesquisa 1, da poética e dos processos de atuação nas artes, na linguagem artística das artes visuais. O objetivo geral é desenvolver um projeto poético e montagem de instalações com fotografia-vídeo-som-escrita, discos da casa da minha mãe. Bem como pensar-refletir sobre o meu próprio caminho e construir o memorial em que conto sobre o processo criativo da obra. Ao longo da minha carreira, como artista-pesquisadora, conversei com artistas como Claude Monet, Leonardo da Vinci e Hélio Oiticica; e com teóricos como Jean Lancri e Pedro Vasquez, na metodologia; Allan Sekula, em fotografia; Rosalind Krauss, na instalação; Renato Cohen, em performance; Philip Auslander, na documentação de performance; Sérgio Basbaum, na sinestesia; Allan Kaprow, na arte e na vida; Glória Ferreira e Cecília Cotrim, na escrita da artista; e Sonia Rangel, no processo criativo. Como metodologia pessoal, crio um jardim mesclado com as minhas memórias do jardim da casa onde morei, onde desenvolvo a instalação e o memorial. É neste lugar que experimento, leio, pesquiso, edito a fotografia-vídeo-som-escrita, reflito sobre a minha trajetória de vida e o que nela me toca, e escrevo os textos de pesquisa. Durante as aulas, nos estudos prático-reflexivos, fui construindo minha poética, experimentando instalações na própria sala de aula. Um deles, relacionado à cozinha da casa onde morava, experimentei dois assuntos, inclusive a experiência do café com colegas de classe. Cada camada da instalação é percebida no processo criativo da obra de arte. E, a partir do que percebo na minha poética, desenvolvo conversas com a História da Arte, e tenho concebido textos, que chamei de escritos do artista. Com as letras, palavras, frases e reflexões, escrevo o que pensei/penso sobre a geometria, as dimensões, o espaço, o quarto da casa e a partilha à volta de uma mesa de jantar. As camadas poéticas construídas no caminho criativo são inúmeras e, no fragmento da instalação, apresento vestígios que estão em mim, no jardim, no quarto, na cozinha e no quintal, onde vivi uma vida na casa da minha mãe.
