The article shows the effect of increasing the injection pressure (up to p = 250 MPa) on the dynamics of the development of the fuel jet. An increase in the pressure in the accumulator led to a decrease in the angle of the boundary layer of the jet. A decrease in the oscillations of the boundary layer of the jet about its axis is shown. The greatest variations were recorded at рак = 50 MPa. Then, as the рак increases, the vibrations of the nucleus decrease and become practically imperceptible at 250 MPa. A method for controlling the shape of the differential injection characteristic by an electric pulse, which is applied to an electromagnet of the control valve of the electrohydraulic injector of battery fuel system, is provided. The impulse consists of the preliminary, the main and the following additional one. The duration of the preliminary impulse determines the amplitude of the initial stage of the injection characteristic, and the interval between the preliminary and main pulse is the amplitude between the initial and main stages of the injection characteristic. The interval between the main and additional electric pulses is selected in such a way that the subsequent stage of the injection characteristic begins after the termination of the main, but without an interval between them. By selecting the durations of the control electric pulses and the intervals between them, it is possible to obtain a predetermined shape of the differential injection characteristic from stepped to a characteristic with an inclined leading edge. In nozzles with two groups of holes (correction sprayer), the flow rate of the holes in the sub-head volume and on the locking cone is significantly different and depends on the position of the needle. This creates the prerequisites for correcting the fuel supply through the spray holes and, consequently, along the zones of the combustion chamber, taking into account the mode of operation of the diesel engine.

Abstract The relevance of the study is due to the lack of systems in which the proportions of the used fuels in the mixture and the values of the cycle supply are simultaneously controlled depending on the load-speed mode of the diesel engine. The aim of the research is to develop a design for a bi-fuel power supply system for a diesel engine, which allows for the simultaneous regulation of the proportions of the components of a mixture consisting of alternative and diesel fuels, as well as the values of the cyclic supply of this mixture to the diesel cylinders. As a result of the research, an algorithm was calculated for the simultaneous control of the proportions of the components of a mixture consisting of alternative and diesel fuels, as well as the values of the cyclic supply of this mixture to the diesel cylinders. As a result of the operation of the fuel supply system on mixtures of diesel and alternative fuels according to the developed algorithm, it made it possible to achieve the identical operation of a diesel engine on pure diesel fuel at all load-speed modes of diesel operation. Also, in the course of the research carried out, a bi-fuel power supply system for a diesel engine was developed, which makes it possible to simultaneously regulate the amount (cycle supply) and the composition of a mixture consisting of diesel and alternative fuel supplied to the diesel cylinders, depending on the speed and load modes of operation.

Fuel supply advanced angle is one of effective parameters in monitoring the state or diagnosing the fault of diesel engine. So it is important to study fast and accurate detection method of fuel supply advanced angle. The embedded sensor is used to measure injection waveform of high-pressure fuel tube. The detection algorithm is established, and the fuel supply advanced angle is calculated by comparing the injection waveform with top dead center signal. In situ calculated advanced angle coincides with the rated parameter of diesel provided by manufacturer and verify the accuracy of the method.

The uC_OS-II embedded real-time operation system is used to improve the original designed fuel supply system of a Stirling engine which governed by the electronic control system based on a rotating speed control method. Task modules for each level are built and the fail-safe modules are also improved in this paper. The developed fuel supply system is investigated through experiment, and test results show that the new real-time operating system works stably and realizes the fuel supply fast adjustment.

High-performance data acquisition system is designed on the foundation of studying the working principle of diesel engine fuel injection system and analyzing the characteristics of fuel injection pressure waveform. The fuel injection pressure waveform can be accurately captured by the data acquisition system which based on embedded pressure sensors and NI PXI-6143 multifunction data acquisition card, and then the fuel injection opening pressure and the maximum injection pressure can be calculated. Fuel supply advance angle can be obtained by comparing the injection pressure waveform and the top dead center signal. The signal to noise ratio of the data acquisition system is very high, and the operating parameters of fuel supply system can be calculated without software filter. The fuel injection opening pressure, maximum injection pressure and fuel supply advance angle were obtained in situ test on 6L20/27 diesel. The operating parameters all coincide with the technology data sheet given by the factory.

The dual fuel (DF) combustion mode is proven solution that allows to improve or get at the same level engine performance and reduce toxic compounds in exhaust gases which is confirmed by researchers and end-users. DF combustion mode uses two fuels gaseous fuel as a primary energy source and a pilot quantity of diesel fuel as ignition source. However, in order, to fully take advantage of the potential of the dual fuel mode, DF system must be proper calibrated. Despite the existence of commercial control systems for dual fuel engines on the market, the literature on the important parameters for the engine's operation introduced during calibration is scarce. This article briefly describes a concept of working algorithm and calibration strategy of a dual fuel electronic control unit (ECU) The purpose of calibration is to achieve the greatest possible use of an alternative gaseous fuel without causing accelerated engine wear.

This paper presents the results of relatively cheap hydrogenous fuel usage as an energy material for energy supply stand-alone environmentally friendly systems creation. Usage of fuel cells running on hydrogenous fuel is a promising direction in creation of stand-alone power supply systems in low-rise residential development. Presented thermodynamic calculations and material balance data for electric and thermal components assessment in considered ways to use convention products, performance enhancement in tandem system based on fuel cells with full heat regeneration. The total effective efficiency of the tandem installation including the fuel converter, separating system, high-temperature fuel cell, low-temperature fuel cell is higher than for each of the fuel cell elements separately. Distribution of H2 for LTFC and HTFC is determined in compliance with the conditions of the positive heat balance to compensate the heat used for the endoenergic reaction in the converter, input stream heating and heat losses. The total effective efficiency under making full use of recovered heat for considered tandem system depends on the efficiency of its constituent fuel cells. Energetically effective distribution of H2 on streams of high-temperature and low-temperature oxidation according to a position of observance of positive thermal balance on an external contour of tandem system, is reached by operation of HTFC electric efficiency in the range of 50 ÷ 55%.

The paper presents the main advantages and disadvantages of standard fuels in comparison with alternative fuels of methane series used in internal combustion engines. Particular attention in the article is given to the study of the heat transfer parameters of the calculated volume in the fuel tank filled with liquefied methane with thermal insulation, as well as methane outflow in special round tubes to transport gas in the liquid phase to the atomizer of the gas injector. Variants of numerical modeling of phase transitions of the heterogeneous system inside the tank are presented, as the calculated volume and flow of a two-phase flow of liquefied methane in tubes in the horizontal plane, taking into account the operating parameters of the elements of the fuel supply system.

Natural gas is one of the potential combustion engine fuels whose proportion in the overall energy balance is expected to increase. Owing to some of its properties, its use requires a dual-fuel supply system; thus, the use of natural gas as a fuel for diesel engines is currently limited. Systems that supply gas fuel to diesel engines do not usually interfere with the engine control system. This solution significantly reduces system-installation costs. However, as demonstrated in the present study, it considerably changes the course of the combustion process, which increases thermal and mechanical loads. In this case, the combustion process can be controlled by changing the liquid fuel injection pressure or advancing the injection angle. This, however, requires interference with the engine control system.

In order to make a research on the Scramjet Fuel Supply System, I use the software named Flowmaster to make a numerical simulation. In the work, I first make some research on the steady-state response of the Scramjet Fuel Supply System, in which it mainly contains the change trend of the outlet flowrate and the temperature of the working fluid with the variation of the valve's opening, the heating transferred to the fluid and the pressure difference between the inlet and the outlet of the cooling channel. After the simulation of the steady-state characteristics, I make some analysis about the reason casing the Scramjet Fuel Supply System response as this. Then I conduct a calculation of transient process cased the sudden close of the control valve. After the calculation, I also analyze the tendency of pressure changes and the bubble volume generated by the abrupt close of the regulating valve. This may provide some useful theoretical basis and references in the study of characteristics of Scramjet Fuel Supply System.

This paper presents the results of experiments and calculations of the energy expenses in tandem system reformer - fuel cell on hydrogenous fuel derived from biogas. Possibility of electricity generation based on complex use of organic and hydrogenous fuel at creation of objects of distributive systems of power supply will approach energy sources to the consumer, having increased energy-economic indicators and efficiency of fuel use. A promising direction in the creation of autonomous power supply systems in low-rise residential development is the use of fuel cells running on hydrogenous fuel derived from biogas Expenses of hydrogen fuel to operate the power installation with a predetermined capacity comparable with the required amount of hydrogen obtained by electrolysis. The calculated value of the efficiency of the system reformer - fuel cell, based on data on the required quantity of biogas and methane, as well as numerical characteristics of workflows fuel system, equal to 38.4%, confirms the relatively high efficiency of the use of hydrogenous fuel for the tasks of autonomous power supply. Usage of relatively low-cost hydrogen-containing fuel obtained from biogas from local secondary renewable resources will contribute to the creation of autonomous economic systems of power supply.

The paper is devoted to the development of a rocket engine on granular solid fuel (REGSF). The paper shows the main advantages and disadvantages of widely used propulsion systems (such as a solid-propellant rocket engine, liquid-propellant rocket engine, gas turbine engine). The proposed hybrid power plant borrows the strengths of well-known engines, such as the ability to control thrust in a wide range, multiple on and off, the ability to work in high temperatures and low oxygen content. The fuel in a REGSF is granules, the constituent components of which are both oxidizing agent and combustible. Possible propulsion systems based on REGSF, applicable for different types of tasks (can be used both for spacecraft and for ground unmanned aerial vehicles used at different altitudes with different flight speeds), are proposed and considered. As a prototype of the granular solid fuel supply system (GSFSS) the powder metal fuels supply system (PMFSS) is chosen. The flow rate and speed characteristics of the GSFSS are similar to the same characteristics of the PMFSS, they are also presented in this paper. Based on the available data on the supply system for powdered metal fuels and powdered aluminum (which is used as a fuel in a similar propulsion power plant), the requirements that granular fuel must satisfy in order to efficiently feed and ignite it are formulated and given. Requirements: dry, hydrophobic material, which must have high flowability, have a dispersion in the specified range, the type of particles must be spherical.

At this time, the modeling of fuel cell systems and the development of control strategies are critical. The development of a control strategy depends on the construction of the control model. Aiming at the difficulty of air supply system modeling, this paper uses radial basis function (RBF) neural network and state equation method to establish the dynamic model of air supply systems. At the same time, PID, fuzzy logic plus PID (FL + PID), feedforward plus PID (FF + PID), fuzzy feedforward plus fuzzy PID (FF + FLPID) control strategy are proposed to control the oxygen excess ratio of the system. The simulation results show that fuzzy feedforward plus fuzzy PID (FF + FLPID) has the best effect and the oxygen excess ratio can be followed in 1 s.

Transport costs are one of the major costs in the supply chain of stumps for fuel. Stump parts are bulky and it is impossible to achieve full tonnages on trucks and trailers even though the load space is completely full. The transport economy for stumps is also negatively affected by the large amount of contaminants in the loads. Grinding the stumps at the landing and sieving of the produced hog fuel has the potential to increase load weights and reduce both the amount of contaminants and the transport costs. To evaluate such a system a series of studies were made. Results show that coarse grinding and sieving reduced both moisture and ash content in the produced fuel, thus increasing the heating value per ton delivered fuel and transforming a soil contaminated material to an acceptable fuel. Transport payloads increased substantially compared to transports of stump parts, but a transport distance of 110 km was needed before the coarse grinding system provided lower cost than the standard system with transports of stump parts and grinding at the heating plant. Further studies are needed to evaluate the total energy efficiency in the two systems. Coarse grinding and sieving is a feasible way to increase fuel quality and improve transport economy. However, total costs will in most cases be higher than for the loose stump system which renders the method preferable only in cases where the sieving process converts a non-acceptable material into an acceptable fuel.

Consumption of natural resources in the form of hydrocarbon fuels, which is steadily increasing in transport, the number of rolling stock, and combustion products of motor fuels cause environmental pollution. It is shown that the transition to cheaper alternative types of fuel, by its characteristics, not inferior to liquid motor fuels, is one of the options to reduce operating costs and harmful emissions. The scheme of classification of gas systems of fuel transfer is presented: by design of the system of filling and storage of gas; by quantity of the substituted basic fuel in the system of fuel supply; by method of dosing of fuel; by name and place of sending of a control signal; by design of the unit of decrease in pressure of gas; by design and a site of heating devices of a gas stream of a high pressure; by a method of ignition of a gas-air mix; by a method of change of indicators of working process; by an aggregate condition of used According to the results of theoretical and operational research of the gas engine based on a supercharged diesel engine: the necessity of using a gas injector power supply system has been established; the power and torque of the gas engine created on the basis of a supercharged diesel engine practically do not differ from that of the diesel engine, which is explained by a relatively high degree of compression for engines with spark ignition (ε=2); it has been shown that in the long term it is possible to use gas supply systems under pressure directly into the engine cylinder. As a result, the most affordable commercial alternative fuel for road transport in Uzbekistan turned out to be natural gas.

The article presents research on Honda wave motorcycle engines using CNG gas based on a corresponding gasoline fuel injection system. In the study, we choose a solution using two nozzles suitable when switching to using CNG fuel. According to the throttle opening, the test results are conducted and can confirm that the engine, when using CNG, has reduced power and torque compared to gasoline. However, using a CNG fuel supply system from the fuel injection system saves time and cost of design and manufacture. The installation is simple, no need to interfere with the engine combustion chamber. As a result, the engine on the car operates reliably, stably, and reliably.

The work was aimed at the development of gas supply, diesel fuel supply and electronic control systems for automobile gas diesel engines. Different ways of diesel engine conversion to operate on natural gas were analyzed. Gas diesel process with minimized ignition portion of diesel fuel injected by the CR system was selected. Electronic engine control and modular gas feed systems which can be used on high- and middle-speed gas diesel engines were developed. Diesel CR fuel supply system was developed in cooperation with the industrial partner. Simulation was used to obtain basic parameters and control methods of these systems. The base diesel engine was converted into gas diesel engine using the systems developed. Bench tests of the gas diesel engine demonstrated a high share of diesel fuel substitution with gas, high fuel efficiency and large decrease of NOх and СО2 emissions.

The consumption of energy resources in the world states is constantly growing from year to year. The production of fossil fuels is also increasing, but for various reasons it cannot fully cover the required amount from consumers. One of the most important consumption sectors is heat loads from heating, ventilation and hot water supply of industrial and residential buildings. To cover the thermal loads of heating and hot water supply, the necessary heat carrier is water heated to a certain temperature. The most promising from the point of view of heating water for hot water supply are solar collectors. Hot water for heating needs to be reheated practically throughout the entire heating period. The introduction of heat pumps is promising. When using solar collectors, the heating agent can be reheated in heat pumps. The aim of the study is to develop such a combined heat supply system that uses more renewable energy and as a peak source a fossil fuel boiler (electric energy), as well as a method for calculating this system to determine the optimal composition of equipment and rational modes of its operation. The methodology for calculating heat supply systems combining solar collectors, heat pumps and fossil fuel boilers is presented. The problem of load distribution between the main elements of the combined heat supply system should take into account the probabilistic component. This is due to the fact that with a changing real mode of operation, different thermal load of the equipment can be optimal. This is primarily influenced by the variable heat inputs from solar collectors during the day. According to the above method, it is possible to determine the optimal parameters of the heat supply system for different operating modes, at which the minimum consumption of fossil fuel will be ensured.

This article describes the configuration and working principle of the high-temperature combustion system; according to the control requirements which have a wide range and high precision for fuel flow-rate of the high-temperature combustion system, a set of fuel supply system is designed based on the frequency conversion hydraulic technology and electro-hydraulic proportional technique. An automatic control system with the function of field and remote control is carried out to achieve the precise supply of the fuel. The transfer function which describes the dynamic characteristic of the fuel supply system is given and the dynamic matrix control algorithm is employed to realize the high-quality control of fuel flow-rate. The experimental results show that the response time of flow-rate is about 12 s, almost no overshoot, and control accuracy within 1%. Therefore, the designed fuel supply system can meet the requirements of the high-temperature combustion system, and the designed control system has good control performance.

The fuel supply system on the example of the short-resource turbojet engine is considered aiming to determine the impact on the automation system of aircrafts. For this purpose, the fuel supply circuit of an engine is presented and its basic elements are displayed. Features of the functioning of the fuel metering unit during the aircraft flight process are described, as well as the properties of aviation fuels, such as viscosity, density, thermal stability, saturation by air, compressibility, and fuel purity. Based on the analysis of the fuel characteristics and properties it is ascertained that such process as hydrodynamic cavitation, as well as positive feedback, exert key influence on the automation functioning.

Prediction of the possibility of a vehicle fuel tank supply process prematureshut off is of main concern for the automotive industry. The main objectiveof this work is to show that premature shut off can be explained by the absenceof a steady state after the initial transient in the fuel supply process. Thevehicle fuel tank considered in this work is composed only of a rectilinearpipe inclined with respect to the horizontal and connected to the top of arectangular tank. The counter-current two-phase flow in the pipe is modeledusing the one-dimensional drift flux model and the tankis modeled as a control volume where mass conservation for each phase isconsidered. Linear stability analysis of the two-phase flow model shows theabsence of the steady state phase for a range of liquid flow rates before theflooding condition is achieved as a function of tube inclination and length.This fact suggests that premature shut off occurs due to the absence of asteady state regime phase during the fuel supply process.

Gas supply system in a proton exchange membrane fuel cell power system consists of hydrogen supply and oxygen supply. In order to improve the system output performance and maintain the pressure difference between the anode and cathode at the setting points under the variational load currents, a generalized predictive control strategy is applied to the gas supply system of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell in this paper. The fuel cell stack and gas supply system were modeled for the purpose of performance analysis and controller design. And then the designed generalized predictive controller was implemented to control the hydrogen flow rate and oxygen compressor voltage. The simulation results illustrated that the proposed controller can provide better response characteristics of the pressure difference, hydrogen and oxygen supply system as compared with PID controller.

The organization of the charge-discharge process of an energy system storage according to the criterion of the minimum daily fuel consumption depends on both the load schedule and the type of flow rate characteristic of the primary engine. When making design and investment decisions on the feasibility of using alternative technical solutions for the modernization of sources in isolated energy supply systems, a comparative assessment of their economic efficiency is necessary. The paper studies the choice of energy storage system power in terms of fuel economy, reducing the installed capacity of a power station for electric power supply systems.

Water-in-diesel emulsion (WiDE) fuel is a promising alternative fuel capable of reducing nitrogen oxides (NOX) and particulate matter (PM) in diesel engine exhaust while simultaneously preserving combustion efficiency of the engine. However, the instability of WiDE fuel—and the high costs of production and transportation—hinder its commercialization and widespread use. An on-board ultrasonic WiDE fuel supply system is proposed as a solution to this challenge. This system allows diesel fuel and water to be continuously emulsified on-board a diesel vehicle. Diesel fuel and water, stored in individual reservoirs, are conveyed in specific ratios to an in-line mixing chamber and are rapidly homogenized by ultrasonic cavitation before entering the fuel injectors. The produced emulsion fuel is then supplied to the engine. A proof-of-concept study was conducted to compare exhaust emissions between emulsion fuels and conventional fuels. Open-flame combustion experiments were conducted using a lab-scale burner to test the system with both diesel and biodiesel fuels. Unique optical diagnostics and image-processing techniques were used to estimate PM emission levels. Results showed a reduction of PM with the use of the on-board WiDE system compared to traditional diesel fuels. PM emissions from biodiesel fuel were reduced by 58% when water-in-biodiesel emulsion was combusted with 2% water. Additionally, a PM emission reduction of 35% was achieved through emulsification of diesel fuel with 2% water. This prototype demonstrates the potential for the on-board WiDE fuel supply concept to both overcome the traditional barriers hindering the commercialization of WiDE fuel and preserve its low-emission and superior combustion efficiency characteristics.

The introduction of modern diesel fuel supply systems and the use of electronic components in control systems provide new possibilities for shaping engine characteristics targeted at specific energy consumers. Under these conditions, the type of engine characteristics is determined by the operation of the air supply system. This work examines the formation of static characteristics for a promising D500 diesel engine for train and ship power plants. Modeling of the diesel operation modes is carried out on computer models in the MATLAB/Simulink and Diesel-RK software packages. Variants of the full-load curves of the diesel engine are presented for different ways of turbocharger control: using a turbine of variable geometry and with sequential turbocharging. The fuel supply is limited according to the air-fuel ratio and the maximum pressure in the engine cylinders. For a variable geometry turbine, a matrix of the positions of the guide vane blades is obtained from the condition of optimizing diesel modes for fuel efficiency. Possibilities to obtain the efficiency characteristic that would provide the minimal fuel consumption for train and ship power plants are shown.

The objectives of this research were to predict fuel supply and consumption in Indonesia in the future. The model formed in this research was system dynamic. The simulation result showed that until 2016, fuel oil supply can meet the fuel oil consumption. From 2017 to 2025, fuel oil supply cannot meet domestic fuel oil consumption.
