Анотація:

The fossil fuel industry is the driving force behind our current carbon-centric socioeconomic systems. The industry has imposed fossil fuel-dependent business models and behaviours on the global socioeconomic system. The actions and plans of the industry are far from being aligned with the 1.5°C target set by the Paris Agreement. Moreover, they remain overlooked in the global climate discourse and negotiations. This paper builds its arguments starting from a moral issue: climate change is an ethical failure, and the industry has had a unique role in causing, shaping, advancing, and defending the current unsustainable fossil fuel-dependent global economy, and thus bears responsibility and has duties of reparation to limit consequent harm. This paper examines the various moral principles of rectifying the unjust situation created by the actions that produced climate change. Although the Paris Agreement assigns responsibilities to states, climate lawsuits against fossil fuel companies are also on the rise. This paper helps link legal frameworks and the relationship between climate justice, sustainable development, and environmental human rights to make radical, systemic changes to ensure a sustainable future.

Анотація:

In harvest areas the soil preparation is occasionally necessary before reforestation including the removal, collection and transportation of stumps from the soil. Issues related to climate change and the shortage of fossil energy sources call for an increased rate of renewable energy sources. Using the stumps removed from the soil as fuel is a significant resource for biomass. For lifting a stump together with its roots a grab mounted on a shovel is generally used. To rationalise this operation, analyses of stump lifting time have been carried out. We tested a machine mounting one grab for stump lifting on three tree types (Scots pine, robinia and poplar) and found functions correlating stump extraction force and stump diameter, which can be used in order to choose the right machine and determine the cost of the operation.

Labor migration is predominately studied through anthropocentric modes of analysis. This review essay explores, demonstrates, and argues that the environment and climate disaster can be driving forces of labor migration. While the scholarship explored as part of this essay, including text, a documentary, and photographs, demonstrate how non-human assemblages, climate and the environment, impact labor and subsequently the family unit and migration, they also call attention to the Anthropocene, the current moment that we occupy as humans as the dominant influence on climate and the environment. Given the impact of climate disaster on labor migration, it is important to decenter past anthropocentric modes of analysis focused on socioeconomic disparities.

Анотація:

Agriculture plays a significant role in the labor force and GDP of Mozambique. Nonetheless, the energy source massively used for water pumping in irrigation purposes is based on fossil fuels (diesel oil). Despite the water availability and fertile soils in Moamba, Mozambique, farmers struggle with the high cost of fuels used in the pumping systems. This study was sought to analyze the feasibility of utilizing a solar photovoltaic system as a means to reduce the environmental impact caused by the diesel pumps and simultaneously alleviate the expenses regarding the use of non-environmentally friendly technologies. Site observations and interviews were undertaken in order to obtain local data regarding the water demand, current energy systems costs and distances from the source to the irrigated fields. CLIMWAT 2.0 was used for climate data acquisition and analysis. The environmental benefits, the cost effectiveness and local climate conditions show that the PV system is feasible in Moamba. Furthermore, parameters such as hydraulic energy, incident solar energy, pump efficiency and total system efficiency were used to predict the performance of the system. The results obtained are important to analyze the implementation of such energy systems.

The El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO), which originates in the Pacific, is the strongest and most well-known mode of tropical climate variability. Its reach is global, and it can force climate variations of the tropical Atlantic and Indian Oceans by perturbing the global atmospheric circulation. Less appreciated is how the tropical Atlantic and Indian Oceans affect the Pacific. Especially noteworthy is the multidecadal Atlantic warming that began in the late 1990s, because recent research suggests that it has influenced Indo-Pacific climate, the character of the ENSO cycle, and the hiatus in global surface warming. Discovery of these pantropical interactions provides a pathway forward for improving predictions of climate variability in the current climate and for refining projections of future climate under different anthropogenic forcing scenarios.

Анотація:

World climate continues to deteriorate at varying rates in spite of different anthropogenic mitigative and adaptive interventions. Conversely, the gravitational force fields of the sun and moon hold Earth in orbit, amongst others. Herein, we explore the impacts of changes in these gravitational fields on global climate and examine their influences on natural events, such as ocean tides, volcanoes, geomagnetic storms and movement of tectonic plates. Beyond reports on greenhouse effect and mass transport, we discuss the influence of gravity on tidal bulges, melting glaciers, condensable atmosphere and other events, such as El Niño and La Niña, and correlate their typically subtle impacts on climate worldwide with variations in Earth’s gravity. The intention is to highlight other causative factors implicated in climatic change without diminishing the contributions of greenhouse gasses and other factors, which are currently regarded, by specialists and lay-public alike, as the major culprits of climate change. We submit that the shifts in Earth’s gravitational fields to sustain equilibrium and remain in orbit can manifest as perturbations of atmospheric temperatures, pressures and air concentrations as well as volume changes and ion effects; in hydrological bodies, and are some of the non-anthropogenic agents driving changes in global climate. We surmise, therefore, that the influence of changes in gravity, albeit subtle, on climate change is significant. It is envisaged that highlighting these subtle agents of change would intensify efforts toward ameliorating and/or eliminating drastic and deleterious changes in climate as well as at embracing adaptive measures at local and international levels.

In the wake of the recent unjustifiable deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and several other African Americans at the hands of police, we have witnessed persistent and widespread protests against systemic racism, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has killed African Americans and Latinos at two to three times the rate of Whites. Racism is undeniably an evil, pervasive, destructive force in our society, yet it can also be a great motivating force. This essay is a personal story of how being the subject of racism led one person to acquire and leverage his professional privilege to help create and change institutions to act on climate and environmental injustices while countering the systemic racism that he witnessed and experienced in childhood.

Who is liable for damages caused by climate change? This question has concerned many lawyers all around the globe in the last few years and is still one of the most controversial topics pertaining to climate protection law. Legal experts argue about the civil and public liability of corporations and the state on the one hand, and the suits against governments to force them to introduce more protective climate protection laws on the other hand. While in other countries many judgments have already been issued, there has been only one judgment in Germany so far and a second claim is pending. However, these claims have made climate change litigation popular. Against this background, this article aims to present the current situation of climate change litigation in Germany. For this aim it gives an overview of politics, the respective legislation and especially the jurisprudence regarding climate protection and climate damages, focusing on the legal problems that have emerged in practice and possible reform perspectives.

The aim of the paper is to analyze sustainability report disclosures (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures [TCFD], 2017a, 2017b, 2019, 2020a, 2020b, 2021, 2022; AlHares & Al-Hares, 2020; Lagasio, 2019; Lucchese, 2020; International Sustainability Standards Board [ISSB], 2022) of the listed banks on FTSE Italia All-Share index of Borsa Italiana through text analytics (Giuliano, 2004). The research questions tend to verify: how and whether physical risk (acute and chronic) is reported; how and whether transition risk (legal, technology, market, and reputational) is reported; how and whether scenario analysis (The Bank of England, 2022; Rogelj et al., 2018) is conducted. Using Iramuteq (www.iramuteq.org) and SAS Viya (www.sas.com), the research combines unsupervised learning (Reinert, 1990) and supervised techniques (SAS, 2019) pointing out the inadequacy, the lack of transparency, and the lack of comparability of the sustainability reports that may increase the potential for uncertainty and financial instability. Disclosing climate information on a mandatory basis allows an increase in the quantity and quality of climate-related reporting, an increase in transparency, and comparability accountability, and provides clearer disclosures to investors and regulators.

The correlation of the tranformational leadership style, leadership supervision, and work climate to the teacher performance at SMP Cikande Force District of Serang Regency.This study used quantitative research methods through surveyquestionnaires.The target population in this study are all teachers,amounting to 75 people in SMP Cikande Force District of Serang Regency and teacher population in SMP Cikande Force District of Serang Regency (selected 4 SMP from 8 SMP at Cikande Force District of Serang Regency) Samples were taken purposive. Data collected by using a questionere. The data were collected then analyzed by using the technique of data analysis simple correlation, multi correlation, coeficient of determination and significance test with SPSS 16.The result showed that (1) The correlation of transformasional leadership style varriable (X1) with teacher performance (Y) is in good category are 0.632 (2) The correlation of leadership supervision(X2) with teacher performance (Y) is in a good category, which is 0,657 (3) The correlation of work climate (X3) with teacher performance (Y) is in sufficient category, which is 0,479 (4) The contribution of transformasional leadership style varriable (X1) and leadership supervision(X2)and work climate (X3) is 0,731.

Анотація:

Purpose This paper aims to examine the effects of CO2 emissions, energy consumption, cultivated area and the labour force on the production of cereal crops in Pakistan from the period 1971-2014. Design/methodology/approach The study used the Johansen cointegration test, the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) approach and Granger causality test to estimate the long-run cointegration and direction of the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. Findings The outcomes of the Johansen cointegration test confirmed the existence of a long-term cointegrating relationship between the production of cereal crops, CO2 emissions, energy consumption, cultivated area and the labour force. The results of the long-run coefficients of CO2 emissions, energy consumption, cultivated area and labour force have a positive impact on cereal crops production. The long-run relationships reveal that a 1 per cent increase in CO2 emissions, energy consumption, cultivated area and labour force will increase cereal crops production by 0.20, 0.11, 0.56 and 0.74 per cent, respectively. Moreover, the findings show that there is a bidirectional causality running from CO2 emissions and cultivated area to cereal crops production. Moreover, there is a unidirectional causality running from energy consumption to cereal crops production. Originality/value The present study also fills the literature gap for applying the ARDL procedure to examine this relevant issue for Pakistan.

In this study, the relationship between climate policy uncertainty and inflation in the 1990-2021 period in the USA was examined with the help of the ARDL Bound test, using Real GDP, total labor force, and carbon emissions as control variables. The climate policy uncertainty index used to measure climate policy uncertainty in the study was obtained from Gavriilidis (2021), and data on other variables were obtained from “the World Bank” and “Our World in Data” databases. The study's findings show a positive and statistically significant relationship between climate policy uncertainty and inflation in the USA in the period under review. Also, carbon emissions and GDP positively affect inflation, and the coefficients are statistically significant. However, although the total labor force positively affected inflation, it was found to be statistically insignificant.

Three varieties of rabbit eye (Vaccinium ashei) blueberries (`Climax',, `Premier', and `Tifblue') were harvested in Mississippi and two varieties of highbush (v. corymbosum blueberries (`BlueCrop' and `Jersey') were harvested in Michigan. Each variety was harvested at three different locations as replications. The berries were rapidly cooled to 5°C after harvest, placed in 1-pint containers, and analyzed at 7-day intervals for 28 days with day 0 being 48 h after harvest. Shear, compression and puncture forces were higher for rabbiteye spp. than for highbush spp. `Bluecrop' blueberries showed the lowest shear force whereas, Climax, had the most shear force. Puncture force (skin toughness) was lower for `Bluecrop' and `Jersey' and higher for, Climax, There was an increase in shear force by all varieties with storage time. `Premier, and `Climax' had lower soluble solids, but they increased with storage time. `Jersey' had the highest pH and `Tifblue' the lowest. Although all varieties lost moisture with time, `Bluecrop' always had higher moisture. Mold growth varied with time; however, `Bluecrop' had a higher percentage of moldy berries throughout refrigeration. The percent decay was higher for highbush blueberries after 16 d of refrigeration. Rabbiteye's toughness and firmness give them a longer refrigerated shelf-life over highbush blueberries.

Climate change in Europe will lead to new precipitation patterns over the coming years and the annual temperature will increase significantly. These changes in climate variables and the resulting effects on agricultural productivity must be differentiated regionally. Plant production depends on sufficient rainfall in summer and, in some regions, on the amount of rainfall in winter. In Central Europe, the amount of precipitation in summer will decrease in the coming decades due to climate change, while in some regions, the amount of winter precipitation will increase significantly. Agricultural production is likely to suffer severely as a result of rising summer temperatures and low water retention capacities in the soil. The effects of reduced summer precipitation and increased air temperatures are partially offset by the expected increased CO2 concentration. Therefore, the effects that changed climatic conditions have on crop production are sometimes less drastic in terms of crop yields. The greatest impact of climate change on land use is expected from increasing evapotranspiration and lower amounts of precipitation in the production of leachate. In addition to the expected mean changes, the occurrence of extreme weather conditions is key. Periods of drought in the growing season and heavy flooding as a result of extreme rainfall are to be expected. However, these events are very difficult or even impossible to predict. In addition to the effects that climate change will have on regional crop production, global changes will have a strong impact on world markets for agricultural products. Another consequence of climate change and population growth is a higher demand for agricultural products on world markets. This will lead to dramatic local land use changes and an intensification of agriculture that will transform existing crop production systems. The intensification caused by rising land and lease prices will primarily affect the maximization of the use of fertilizers and pesticides.

Abstract. The near-surface climate of the Greenland ice sheet is characterized by persistent katabatic winds and quasi-permanent temperature deficit. Using a high resolution (11 km) regional climate model allows for detailed study of the spatial variability in these phenomena and the underlying atmospheric processes. The near-surface temperature distribution over the ice sheet is clearly affected by elevation, latitude, large scale advection, meso-scale topographic features and the occurrence of summer melt. The lowest annual temperatures of −30.5 °C are found north of the highest elevations of the GrIS, whereas the lowest southern margins are warmest (−3.5 °C). Over the ice sheet, a persistent katabatic wind system develops due to radiative surface cooling and the gently slope of the surface. The strongest wind speeds are seen in the northeast where the strong large scale winds, low cloud cover and concave surface force a continuous supply of cold air, which enhances the katabatic forcing. The radiative cooling of the surface is controlled by the net longwave emission and transport of heat towards the surface by turbulence. In summer this mechanism is much weaker, leading to less horizontal variability in near-surface temperatures and wind speed.

Abstract A nonautonomous dynamic inverse model based on the autonomous dynamic inverse model is presented in this paper. By introducing the extrinsic cycle driving force and the surrounding environment driving force, the Beijing local climatic model is established via the nonautonomous dynamic inverse method. The model not only has a certain ability to predict but can relatively accurately reveal the inherent dynamic mechanisms among the monthly average atmospheric pressure, temperature, and precipitation. The model also applies to describing the dynamic characteristics of the departure from the annual cycle. The nonautonomous inversion dynamic model has broad application potential, which provides a new method for understanding and predicting local climate.

The purpose of this report is to establish the role of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in mitigating and adapting to the adverse effects of climate change. To achieve this, a comparative analysis was made between the measures in force in previous periods and the guidelines of the New CAP: 2023 - 2027. From a methodological point of view, the comparison is based on existing official documents of the European Union (EU), incl. strategies, evaluation reports, as well as the National Program for Rural Development of Bulgaria for several programming periods. The results of the study show that the importance of the CAP in tackling climate change is growing and the measures taken are increasing, but at the same time the progress made is insufficient. The main conclusion is that in the future, small farms will be the driving force for adapting to climate change and reducing adverse effects.

Storm surges, flooding, heatwaves, and prolonged drought, as ever more regular features of life under deteriorating climate conditions, are unmistakably violent. Their effects on the lives of vulnerable human populations and ecosystems across the world are widely known to be devastating. Yet a legal order that denies the victims of such ecological persecution safe haven, no matter how great its use of force (e.g., detention, arrest, forced return) cannot, by definition, be violent. The power of law, used to protect states’ rights to exclude from their jurisdictions growing numbers displaced involuntarily by global climate harms, in being a source of ‘legitimate right’, is never the same as violence. This article challenges the ongoing validity of this assumption. It points to some of the ways in which legal instruments are used today to deny those displaced by climatic conditions sufficient normative status to guarantee their safety. What is needed instead is a new critical normative understanding of the evolving relationship between climate change, violence, justice, and law, one that re-assesses the democratic justificatory grounds for the current positions of non-responsibility for the climate displaced whilst re-affirming such people’s legal and political status as equal co-members of the politically constituted international community of humanity.

The property and construction industry are known to be a main contributor to climate change contributing more than 40% of the world's emissions. In direct response to this, there has been a call for corporations to be more transparent and align themselves to the requirements of the task force for climate financial disclosures (TCFD). This paper seeks to provide a briefing on the requirements of the TCFD. It highlights common challenges faced by the property and construction industry in implementing TCFD such as the difficulty in integrating climate related risks and translating them into quantitative measures, lack of capability within the industry to understand the complexities of climate risks and data collection issues among others. Recommendations are proposed to address these issues including setting up an industry specific network to share best practices in TCFD, harmonisation of existing frameworks to include TCFD requirements and exploring opportunities for incentivisation and rewards for early movers. This paper will be useful to property and construction industry practitioners who are looking at aligning to the requirements of the TCFD.

Abstract. The variations in oceanic and atmospheric modes on various timescales play important roles in generating global and regional climate variability. Many efforts have been devoted to identifying the relationships between the variations in climate modes and regional climate variability, but these have rarely explored the interconnections among these climate modes. Here we use climate indices to represent the variations in major climate modes and examine the harmonic relationship among the driving forces of climate modes using slow feature analysis (SFA) and wavelet analysis. We find that all of the significant peak periods of driving-force signals in the climate indices can be represented as harmonics of four base periods: 2.32, 3.90, 6.55, and 11.02 years. We infer that the period of 2.32 years is associated with the signal of the quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO). The periods of 3.90 and 6.55 years are linked to the intrinsic variability of the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO), and the period of 11.02 years arises from the sunspot cycle. Results suggest that the base periods and their harmonic oscillations related to QBO, ENSO, and solar activities act as key connections among the climatic modes with synchronous behaviors, highlighting the important roles of these three oscillations in the variability of the Earth's climate. Highlights. i. The harmonic relationship among the driving forces of climate modes was investigated by using slow feature analysis and wavelet analysis.ii. All of the significant peak periods of driving-force signals in climate indices can be represented as the harmonics of four base periods.iii. The four base periods related to QBO, ENSO, and solar activities act as the key linkages among different climatic modes with synchronous behaviors.

The carbon intensity of well-being (CIWB) (a ratio measuring the amount of CO2 emitted per unit of life expectancy at birth) is an increasingly popular way to measure the ecological efficiency of nations. Although research demonstrates that economic development typically reduces this efficiency, little research has explored the extent to which social equality improves it. This study uses panel data for 70 nations between 1995 and 2013 to assess how various aspects of gender equality affect the ecological efficiency of nations. We estimate a series of Prais-Winsten regression models with panel-corrected standard errors (PCSE) to assess how increases in the percentage of women in parliament, expected years of education for women, and the percentage of women in the labor force independently affect CIWB. Our findings indicate that across all nations, increases in the percentage of women in parliament and expected years of schooling reduce CIWB; however, increases in the percentage of women in the labor force increase CIWB. Our results further show that the relationship between different dimensions of gender equality and CIWB differs between more developed and less developed nations. Finally, we find that increases in the number of women in parliament and women’s education attenuate the relationship between women’s labor force participation and CIWB. We discuss the variation in our results by reviewing relevant eco-gender literatures and feminist economics.

Abstract Climate change is a global problem that is the responsibility of every company that contributes to carbon emissions. The Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosure is a recommendation in disclosing climate reporting disclosures. This study aims to detemine the quality of company climate reporting disclosures. This study uses a descriptive study design with content analysis method. The objects of research are 5 multinational companies in the banking industry sector and 5 multinational companies in the oil and gas industry sector which issue climate-related disclosures for the 2020-2022 period. The results of the analysis state that the quality of climate disclosure in corporate reporting based on TCFD recommendations has no consistency because the scores obtained still go up and down irregularly. In addition, the quality of corporate climate reporting disclosures in the banking industry sector is better than the oil and gas industry sector. The conclusion of this study states that the quality of climate disclosure in corporate reporting is still not optimal in the disclosure process. This is because the standard is still new and is still under development. Abstrak Perubahan iklim merupakan permasalahan global yang menjadi tanggung jawab setiap perusahaan yang memberikan sumbangan emisi karbon. Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosure merupakan rekomendasi dalam pengungkapan climate reporting disclosure. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menilai kualitas climate reporting disclosure perusahaan. Penelitian ini mengunakan desain studi deskriptif dengan metode content analysis. Objek penelitian adalah 5 perusahaan multinasional di sektor industri perbankan serta 5 perusahaan multinasional di sektor industri minyak dan gas yang menerbitkan climate related disclosure untuk periode 2020-2022. Hasil analisis menyatakan bahwa kualitas climate reporting disclosure perusahaan atas rekomendasi TCFD tidak memiliki konsistensi karena skor yang didapat masih naik dan turun secara tidak teratur. Selain itu kualitas climate reporting disclosure perusahaan sektor industri perbankan lebih baik dibandingkan sektor industri minyak dan gas. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa kualitas climate reporting disclosure perusahaan masih tidak maksimal dalam proses pengungkapan. Disebabkan karena standar yang masih baru dan masih dalam tahap perkembangan.

Autonomous state theory is a view to see how public policy is implemented. Even if a policy is unable to overcome economic problems because it is not tied to the provision of public goods, the state still has the power to make its own policies. From the perspective of social goals to avoid damage, climate change and disaster adaptation policies in Indonesia are examples of appropriate policies that can be developed using this. This research aims to analyze whether the Autonomous State Theory can be reapplied to the emergence of climate change adaptation policies in the city of Palangka Raya or whether exogenous incentives have more influence on the implementation of climate change policies or not. In this research, the author used qualitative methods. Conducting an in-depth case study on the implementation of climate change policies in the City of Palangka Raya. This may involve interviews with policy makers, stakeholders, and analysis of policy documents. In-depth interviews were conducted with various parties involved in the climate change policy formulation process, namely, government, academics, environmental activists and other stakeholders. In addition, Analyze policy documents, reports and other information resources to understand the context, objectives and impact of climate change policies in the City of Palangka Raya. The data sources for this research are generally primary and secondary data. To be able to answer this research question, analysis techniques using qualitative methods are needed. The results of the research conclude that the exogenous theory is the antithesis of the Autonomous State Theory in formulating public policy regarding climate change in the city of Palangka Raya. This theory emphasizes the importance of involving actors other than the state in reducing the impacts of climate change. Countries must work together with private companies, international organizations, and civil society to develop effective solutions.

The task force on climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD) published its recommendations for disclosing climate-related risks in June 2017. The TCFD report represents a framework for companies to disclose climate-related information consistently in their mainstream financial filings. Reporting financial activity using the lens of climate-related risk would, according to the TCFD, help more appropriately price risks and allocate capital in the context of climate change. The initiative, while voluntary, would help speed the transition to a low-carbon economy, and help shift the corporate perspective beyond immediate concerns. The oil and gas industry can play a leading role in the transition to a low carbon economy through: carbon capture and storage, use of natural gas as a transition fuel and the implementation of large-scale renewable energy projects. Given the oil and gas industry’s global leadership in petroleum geology, resource extraction and pipeline transmission, the industry has a vital role in testing the feasibility of large-scale carbon capture and storage. Fossil fuels and renewable energy technologies have obvious complementary synergies and fossil fuels like natural gas are necessary for the reliable, affordable and low-cost transition to a low carbon transition pathway. The oil and gas industry may be the only sector with the requisite expertise and global scale of operations to test and implement large-scale renewable technology initiatives within a public-private partnership framework. Moreover, oil and gas companies are well positioned to be leaders in the effort to adapt and strengthen resilience to the effects and risks of climate change and reduce impacts.

This article argues that climate change puts excessive demands on the psyche. The omnipresent specter of climate change and global warming cannot be processed by individual psyches because there is little – if anything – that individual people can do to stop the devastation that hovers on the horizon. Unlike other disasters and calamities that have affected humans (war, genocide, nuclear destruction, pandemics, despotism) climate change presents unique challenges to the human psyche as it engages traumatic temporality on a global scale. The inexorably real threat of climate change threatens the psyche’s ability to establish a rational relation to reality. The scale and speed of the catastrophic destruction underway calls for a reconsideration of the force and quality of the denial that accompanies it. Some of the most ‘wellmeaning’ forms of denial may turn out to be the most insidious as they attempt to rationalize, humanize and normalize actions and events that ought to force us to reckon with what we cannot bear to know.

This study investigated climate induced distresses patterns on airfield pavements at US Air Force installations. A literature review and surveys of Pavement Condition Index indicated that the predominant factor contributing to the development of pavement distress was climate. Results suggested that, within each type of pavement distress, a geographic pattern exists which is strongly correlated to conventional US climate zones. The US Air Force Roll-Up Database, housing over 50,000 records of pavement distress data, was distilled using a process designed to combine similar distresses while accounting for age and size of samples. The process reduced the data to a format that could be used to perform krig analysis and to develop pavement behavior models for runways built with asphalt cement (AC) and Portland cement concrete (PCC). Regression and krig analyses were conducted for each distress type to understand distress behavior among climate zones. Combined regression and krig analyses provided insight into the overall pavement behavior for AC and PCC runways and illustrated which climate zone was more susceptible to specific pavement distresses. Distress behavior tends to be more severe in the eastern US for AC and in the western US for PCC runway pavements, respectively.
