The article stated that modern Ukrainian education and science require a new understanding of the philosophical and intellectual concepts, theories, and the experience of education organization in synchronic and diachronic discourse, which provides the quality of innovative educational and scientific reformation, enrichment of the nation's intellect, and search for landmarks in the establishment of Ukraine in the European space. The conceptual ideas of academician Ivan Andriiovych Ziaziun are generalized in order to actualize the philosophical and pedagogical achievements of the scientist-philosopher in modern pedagogical theory and educational practice. The conceptual ideas of academician I. Ziaziun were embodied in the author's conceptions of the philosophical and pedagogical heritage: "philosophy of education", "pedagogical excellence", "pedagogy of good", "the beauty of pedagogical action" etc. The scientist substantiated the interdisciplinary connection of psychology and pedagogy, extrapolating it in the context of the meaning of consciousness and sub- consciousness in professional and personal development of a teacher, giving meaningful value to reflection as an instrument of self-evaluation and self-perfection. The problem of human nature is a pivot in the philosophical concept of academicianI. Ziaziun, which manifests itself in the spiritual, psychic, ethical and aesthetic dimensions of human life. In the context of defining the human nature of the individual, the academician substantiated the principles of the philosophy of education. The key requirement of the humanistic paradigm of education is pedagogical thinking and pedagogical action, which constitute the values of subject-subject interaction in the educational environment. The scientist emphasized that pedagogical excellence is a manifestation of activity of teacher personality, a humanistic philoso- phical position, the effectiveness of extrapolation of adequate methods and forms of learning. The teacher's pedagogical act is manifested in self-realization within pedagogical activity, which ensures the self-development of student's personality, in pedagogical technique, speech culture, the dialogic nature of communication, the search for truth, in figurative aesthetic worldview, and creative activity.

Purpose This study has explored the flipped classroom model in a private university in Malaysia. It aims to present a flipped classroom intervention for engineering education innovation. Design/methodology/approach The research (1) revisited prominent educational theories for a flipping or flapping pedagogy, (2) implemented and explored the flipped classroom experiences in one engineering subject using the action inquiry method with thematic analysis and (3) reflectively evaluated both students’ and educators’ “flipping or flapping experience”. Findings The responses of the research participants are analysed and used to develop the flipping or flapping classroom principles and an ideal flipped classroom model. From passive lectures to active learning with collaborative discourse and reflective communication, flipping the classroom can offer a seamless learning experience. Research limitations/implications The flipped classroom model can provide good reference for other educational researchers who intended to conduct a flipped classroom. However, the small sample size with qualitative method and thematic analysis useds led to considerable theoretical development, but it may not achieve the validity standards to generalise the findings. Further empirical investigation with a systematic controlled group is recommended for future work across disciplines for extrapolation. Originality/value This is a genuine case study with an identified innovative teaching need to investigate how flipped classrooms can be enabled and enhanced in engineering education innovation.

Purpose In today’s global economy, high in talent but low in growth, the capability and skills mismatch between the output of universities and the demands of business has escalated to a worrying extent for graduates. Increasingly, university students are considering alternatives to a lifetime of employment, including their own start-up, and becoming an entrepreneur. The literature indicates a significant disconnect between the role and value of education and healthy enterprising economies, with many less-educated economies growing faster than more knowledgeable ones. Moreover, theory concerning the entrepreneurial pipeline and entrepreneurial ecosystems is applied to graduate entrepreneurial intentions and aspirations. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach Using a large-scale online quantitative survey, this study explores graduate “entrepreneurial intention” in the UK and France, taking into consideration personal, social and situational factors. The results point to a number of factors that contribute to entrepreneurial intention including social background, parental occupation, gender, subject of study and nationality. The study furthers the understanding of and contributes to the extant literature on graduate entrepreneurship. It provides an original insight into a topical and contemporary issue, raising a number of research questions for future study. Findings For too long, students have been educated to be employees, not entrepreneurs. The study points strongly to the fact that today’s students have both willingness and intention to become entrepreneurs. However, the range of pedagogical and curriculum content does not correspond with the ambition of those who wish to develop entrepreneurial skills. There is an urgent need for directors of higher education and pedagogues to rethink their education offer in order to create a generation of entrepreneurs for tomorrow’s business world. The challenge will be to integrate two key considerations: how to create a business idea and how to make it happen practically and theoretically. Clearly, change in the education product will necessitate change in the HE business model. Research limitations/implications The data set collected was extensive (c3500), with a focus on France and the UK. More business, engineering and technology students completed the survey than others. Further research is being undertaken to look at other countries (and continents) to test the value of extrapolation of findings. Initial results parallel those described in this paper. Practical implications Some things can be taught, others need nurturing. Entrepreneurship involves a complex set of processes which engender individual development, and are highly personalised. Higher Education Enterprise and Teaching and Learning Strategies need to be cognisant of this, and to develop innovative and appropriate curricula, including assessment, which reflects the importance of the process as much as that of the destination. Social implications The global economy, propelled by the push and pull of technology, is changing at a speed never before seen. This is having profound political, social and economic effects which necessitate fundamental change that we organise ourselves and our activities. Current models and modus operandi are proving increasingly unfit for purpose. Nurturing and encouraging agile mindsets, creativity, supporting the testing of new ideas and ways of doing things and adapting/adopting to innovation are all critical future employability factors. Our future prosperity and well-being will be dependent on creating new learning models. Originality/value This work builds on an extensive literature review coupled with original primary research. The authors originate from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines, and the result is a very challenging set of thoughts, comments and suggestions that are relevant to all higher education institutions, at policy, strategy and operational levels.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how negatively worded innovative ideas can be rejected during a crowdsourcing event sponsored by a service firm via an online forum. The goal of an ideation forum is to collect user-generated content in the form of ideas for new products or services. An ideation forum attempts to clarify the “fuzziness” on the front-end of new product development. Design/methodology/approach – A 2 × 2 (satisfied/dissatisfied customers and negatively/positively worded ideas) experiment replicates the effect of mood-incongruent interactions within ideation forums and measures the likelihood for an idea to be buried or selected on the basis of its merit rather than its negative/positive wording. Findings – The results demonstrate that mood-incongruent interactions have different effects on different groups of participating customers. Negatively worded innovative ideas are rated lower by satisfied customers, despite their superior merit. Research limitations/implications – The nature of the experiment shows a high validity, but lacks in reliability. Thus, future research should attempt to replicate this experiment on a larger scale and across different industries. Practical implications – In an open forum where thousands of customers can give a thumbs’ up or down to an idea, merit should prevail over mood-congruency. If the crowdsourcing mechanism cannot be trusted, it puts the burden back on the firm’s review team to promote or review any downgraded innovative idea, which ends up being counterproductive. Originality/value – These findings shed light on the hidden aspect of crowdsourcing when the aim is to find unique, if not radical, ideas for services. Thus, hoteliers and other hospitality and tourism managers should use these findings to design better ideation forums.

An explicit algorithm for the extrapolation of one-way wavefields is proposed that combines recent developments in information theory and theoretical signal processing with the physics of wave propagation. Because of excessive memory requirements, explicit formulations for wave propagation have proven to be a challenge in 3D. By using ideas from compressed sensing, we are able to formulate the (inverse) wavefield extrapolation problem on small subsets of the data volume, thereby reducing the size of the operators. Compressed sensing entails a new paradigm for signal recovery that provides conditions under which signals can be recovered from incomplete samplings by nonlinear recovery methods that promote sparsity of the to-be-recovered signal. According to this theory, signals can be successfully recovered when the measurement basis is incoherent with the representa-tion in which the wavefield is sparse. In this new approach, the eigenfunctions of the Helmholtz operator are recognized as a basis that is incoherent with curvelets that are known to compress seismic wavefields. By casting the wavefield extrapolation problem in this framework, wavefields can be successfully extrapolated in the modal domain, despite evanescent wave modes. The degree to which the wavefield can be recovered depends on the number of missing (evanescent) wavemodes and on the complexity of the wavefield. A proof of principle for the compressed sensing method is given for inverse wavefield extrapolation in 2D, together with a pathway to 3D during which the multiscale and multiangular properties of curvelets, in relation to the Helmholz operator, are exploited. The results show that our method is stable, has reduced dip limitations, and handles evanescent waves in inverse extrapolation.

Innovation Management and an Innovative Ideas SystemInnovation management is one of the most important tasks for managers in order to make their organizations successful and efficient. A part of this ranges from innovative employee ideas for small everyday improvements up to innovations that bring enormous savings. The survey tries to determine which factors influence the number of innovative ideas and to propose methods for improvements in this area. The basic research method used was a questionnaire, which helped us gather data and the basic method used for data processing was statistical analysis. First, we established that there is a progressive correlation between the number of innovative ideas submitted in the past and the number of anticipated innovative ideas in the future. Second, we established that the following three factors have an impact on innovation and creativity: (1) work and education; (2) working and living conditions; and (3) rewards and payment. Finally, we have established that there is a correlation between satisfaction with the rewards and payment factor and the current life-cycle stage of organization. To summarize, the level of innovation and creativity of employees is influenced by their overall satisfaction in an organization.

This issue keeps the Journal’s tradition of promulgating innovative ideas on a broad range of questions related to corporate governance. By its nature, governance is inseparable from the existence, operation, and evolution of economic entities. As such, gaining understanding of its characteristics informs the spectrum of social science disciplines. Compensation contracts, a board of directors’ composition, stakeholder interactions, and the role of mandatory and voluntary disclosure of entities that are searching for or have acquired capital, serve as some of its many manifestations. Limited by data availability, extant research often favors public, for-profit entities. Understanding the role of governance in non-for-profit entities, private enterprises, and individuals, however, is just as important, and offers a fertile ground for future research

Residential architecture has one of the most conservative styles based on its specifics. However, today this type of architecture seeks to actively respond to changes in the modern world. These changes are caused by multiple factors, among them are: technological and information progress; lack of resources and environmental pollution; military conflicts and population migration etc. The purpose of this article is to summarize the experience of the Department of Architectural Environment of Lviv Polytechnic National University over housing issues and outline the methodological principles of innovation in designing both individual houses and the architectural environment of residential formations. While writing this article, we analyzed the 15-year experience of Architectural Environment's Department diploma projects. The unique feature of these projects is the priority on the design of the environment. The evolution of diploma project topics is revealed on multiple distinctive examples such as the reconstruction of old buildings in Lviv and the construction of prefabricated homes and container-type housing. Futuristic settlements are represented in projects such as “The Ocean Settlements” and “Prykarpatsk - the City of Future”. Research projects were developed to study current trends in housing design and the impact of innovative technologies on planning decisions. These projects discoursed the protection of housing from traffic noise and issues related to environmental preservation. Innovative architectural ideas of future housing, developed by students in these projects, are based on a combination of aesthetic, technical, and social components of architecture. The conclusion indicates that when educating future architects, it is important to teach them the basics of the craft, as well as the ability to defend their innovative ideas. The emphasis is placed on the importance of educating the architect's personal responsibility for their own design solutions. It is stated that professional motivation and the ability to constantly renew previously acquired knowledge and skills will be among the main tasks in training future architects.

Entrepreneurship has more to it than just self-employment and hard work; to tap its full potential one needs to put emphasis on the generation and development of ideas. Research on creativity suggests that all of us are able to engage in this kind of creative activity. This essay presents techniques for, and examples of, generating entrepreneurial ideas. Its goal is to show that in the present age, which is marked by rising levels of education, growing consumer sophistication and increasing opportunities for comparing values, ideas that are developed in harmony with society's values have good and growing chances for success in the marketplace. Ultimately, a culture of innovative entrepreneurship is envisioned, which is able to incorporate economic, artistic, and social activities as parts of one coherent spectrum of human creativity.

Proportions play an important role in mathematics and science and are widely used in conversions, similar triangles, direct variation, indirect variation, interpolation, extrapolation, and many other applications. Teachers of mathematics and science understand and value proportions as a powerful tool for solving problems. Their students, however, are a bit less enthusiastic. After all, when would anyone ever use proportions? The capture-recapture method offers an exciting demonstration of such a use.

The article is devoted to the development of innovative technologies in Kazakhstan. Recently, the world has been flooded with new ideas, gadgets, applications, a staggering number of innovative technologies are being developed that are capable of fundamentally transforming goods and production processes: nanotechnology, 3D printers, robotics, industrial Internet, additive, disruptive, subtractive technologies. Artificial intelligence, voice control and virtual reality are the times when science fiction is slowly becoming a reality. Among other innovative technologies is a face recognition system developed by Kazakhstani specialists. In Kazakhstan, Tech Garden and Astana Hub projects help innovators develop innovative ideas by providing them with infrastructure, financial support, mentoring, access to investors and opportunities to exchange experiences with foreign innovators. The development of innovations directly depends on the support from the state and business of scientific research work. In order for Kazakhstani specialists not only to introduce innovative technologies into the practice of their company, but also to develop and offer new ideas, products, projects and gadgets themselves, it is necessary to create favorable conditions and encourage them accordingly, for example, the creation of special workspaces for young professionals (technology hubs, business incubators, innovation centers).

This paper focuses on public innovation support for ventures in their early stages of development. Based on quantitative analysis of programme-specific data, the authors explore and discuss what mechanisms have influenced a public sector actor in selecting ideas for funding. The main findings show, first, that the ‘legal form of the firm’ and the ‘type of industry’ are the main factors that discriminate among firms that have gained public financial support and, second, that explicit and tacit selection criteria affect the process that determines which ideas are to receive support.

The article establishes innovative views on modern linguistics in systematic analysis of numerous works by prof. L.I. Shevchenko – a prominent Ukrainian linguist, head of the department of stylistics and language communication, a vice-chairman of the Ukrainian committee of Slavists, a member of two commissions of the International committee of Slavists (media linguistic and stylistic), chief editor of the international edition «Actual issues of Ukrainian linguistics: theory and practice». The pre-anniversary article focuses on the scholar’s concept of intellectualization of the Ukrainian literary language, integration of the researcher’s works with European academic discourse, particularly, in the context of innovative linguistic directions – legal linguistics, media linguistics, business linguistics, political linguistics etc., the analysis of which is determined by exploratory vector of a modern linguist. The authors also mention the works of prof. L.I. Shevchenko’s mentees. More than 10 PhD and doctoral theses have been defended under the scholar’s supervision. Prof. L.I. Shevchenko holds a special place at Kyiv stylistic school, which is confirmed by the researcher’s numerous works that have qualitatively changed and deepened views on some issues of theoretical and functional stylistics. These are primarily theoretical problems of modern linguistics and the search for new research paradigms, the problems of stylistic differentiation of the Ukrainian literary language, the analysis of concepts of the theory of language intellectualization, modern view on idiostylistics, the issue of the national language status in contemporary social space, a profound analysis of Ukrainian linguistics in ideas, concepts and personalities. Productivity and polyphony of the researcher’s interests, her wide scientific outlook, encyclopedic knowledge, desire to be modern in the context of innovative views and ideas in world linguistics, fundamental role in formation of new research directions define a significant place of prof. L.I. Shevchenko in the XXI century linguistics.

Task. The phenomenon of human capital in line with socio-philosophical analysis requires multilateral study, where intellectual development comes to the fore. Indeed, the decisive role in the development of any country in the world belongs to man as a bearer of wealth [10: 108]. The concept of human capital is gradually acquiring the status of a general scientific concept (it is already more and more often used in pedagogy, sociology, political science, cultural studies and other social sciences with a humanitarian profile). In a post-industrial society, the sphere of culture is revealed in its new state, including family, education, science, computer science, art, acquiring a qualitatively new role, becoming an increasingly leading sector of production, its “basis” and driving force [5: 6]. It follows that philosophy plays a methodological, integrative role in the origin and development of human capital. Based on the analysis of the work of domestic and foreign researchers, as well as the ideas of classics and contemporaries of philosophical thought, the prerequisites for the formation of the concept of human capital, and their basic theoretical approaches are shown. Methodology and research methods. The study traces the idea that human capital in conditions of rapid change determines the dynamics and direction of social development. Ensuring its compliance with social values and the requirements of the time becomes an important task of the targeted socio-cultural development of the individual and society [15: 1]. To clarify the content of the concept of “human capital”, the author uses a historical analysis and a content analysis method as a scientific method of cognition. Based on these methods, text data was studied, the essence of which is to divide text data into structural elements, detect keywords in documents, and determine the frequency of their references. These methods are the main ones in the study of the essence of concepts, the content of media messages, answers to questions of sociological research [11: 29]. Conclusions. In a modern transformational society, in the subtext of human value in the role of capital and resource, positive and negative contradictory directions arise, and their solution requires socio-philosophical research. The ambiguity of the wording of the category“human capital” is based on the categorical relationship between its forms in science and the leveling in the interpretation of the concept of the fact of profitability. As a key evidence, the idea that human capital is a multifaceted socio-cultural resource of society is substantiated. It is regarded as an engine of historical progress in the social and cultural spheres. In the system of views, the role of man in society allows us to distinguish the objective basis of the modern theory of human capital, its historical roots, its scientific logic of significance as the fundamental basis of historical progress. The scope of the study / the possibility of subsequent use of the results of scientific work. The main form of the country's wealth is the leading level of intellectual and spiritual development of the citizen, taking the form of human capital, ensuring the innovation process in every area of its activity. A measure of human innovative capital, vitality and resilience of a society becomes its ability to provide a social space for creative, creative activity of people [14: 1181]. Human capital, like all internal personal wealth, cannot be imagined without the spiritual and moral component of the essence of man and his being. Spirituality is the basis of almost everything, everything that has to do with the self-realization of a person. It can be argued that certain spiritual attitudes explicitly or discreetly direct any activity of each person and all social structures. The absence of the spiritual and moral component of technogenic civilization has led mankind to a standstill. Now more than ever, a qualitative shift in the human mind is required, fundamentally changing his worldview. In the system of education and upbringing, it is necessary to return to the thoughts and ideas of great thinkers, starting from antiquity and ending with modernity in the spiritual and moral elevation of man. Practical value. Today, increased attention to the socio-philosophical aspects of human capital comes down to the practical significance of the identified problem. Therefore, the proposed topic can be applied as a theoretical instruction for social research institutes. The conceptual results of the study provide a theoretical basis for a deeper understanding of social transformationsin society, and on the other hand, it can be used as a theoretical basis for future comparative socio-philosophical studies of human capital. Research materials may be useful in the preparation of textbooks, courses in social philosophy. The author proposes the introduction of a special course for undergraduates and doctoral students“Human capital and its manifestations in the development of the Republic of Kazakhstan”. And also in universities, in the process of teaching social sciences and humanities, to practice conducting scientific discussions on the above topic. Originality / value. We believe that the topic of the article touched upon will give an impetus to reflection and encourage the writing of articles on the development of human capital from a position of socio-philosophical analysis. As for the concept of the phenomenon under study, its extrapolation opportunities will be realized on the “reciprocal flows” of the economy and other important areas of social life - science, culture, education, politics, etc. The problem under study is addressed to social scientists, employees of the management system, university professors and doctoral students, as well as all those who are interested in the problems of the formation and development of human capital in the world.

Evaluations of “radicality” of innovations are mostly related to final products and services, however, examination of innovative ideas earlier on has an important implications for future innovations. Organisational members make decisions on whether or not to propose innovative ideas to the agenda. These decisions are often based on their personal judgements and perceptions. In this paper, a categorisation of innovative ideas by low, medium and high degree of radicality is proposed. The objective is to, on one hand, demonstrate the correctness of the categorisation proposed and, on the other hand, retrieve insights on how the level of radicality of products is conceived by practitioners. The results of a quasi-experimental investigation report that radicality of innovation relates to a degree of change in products. Based on perceptions of practitioners, with an increase in degree of radicality of innovative ideas, the value for rewards enhances.

Analogical thinking is one of the most effective tools to generate innovative ideas. It enables us to develop new ideas by transferring information from well-known domains and utilizing them in a novel domain. However, using analogical thinking does not always yield appropriate ideas, and there is a lack of consensus among researchers regarding the evaluation methods for assessing new ideas. Here, we define the appropriateness of generated ideas as having high structural and low superficial similarities with their source ideas. This study investigates the relationship between thinking process and the appropriateness of ideas generated through analogical thinking. We conducted four workshops with 22 students in order to collect the data. All generated ideas were assessed based on the definition of appropriateness in this study. The results show that participants who deliberate more before reaching the creative leap stage and those who are engaged in more trial and error for deciding the final domain of a new idea have a greater possibility of generating appropriate ideas. The findings suggest new strategies of designing workshops to enhance the appropriateness of new ideas.
