Recent work in labor economics has shown that technological change has induced labor market polarization, an increase in demand for both high and low skill jobs, but declining demand for middle skill routine task jobs. We argue that labor market polarization should affect firms’ participation in collective agreements, but only in countries where laws automatically extending collective agreements to nonparticipating firms are weak. We develop an argument in which labor market polarization increases the distance between different skill groups of workers in both preferences for unionization and leverage to realize those preferences. Because of this, an increase in labor market polarization should be associated with a decline in collective bargaining coverage. We test our hypothesis about collective agreement extension and collective bargaining coverage in a cross-national sample of 21 Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries from 1970 to 2010 and our hypothesis about labor market polarization in German firm-level and industry-level data from 1993–2007. We find a negative relationship in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development sample between technological change and collective bargaining coverage only in countries that make little or no use of extension procedures. We find that higher workforce skill polarization is associated with lower collective agreement participation in both German firm-level and industry-level samples.

Peritonsillar abscess refers to the collection of pus in between the tonsillar capsule and the superior constrictor muscle. The majority of patients with peritonsillar abscess recover uneventfully after intraoral drainage and antibiotic therapy. However, some patients who are immunosuppressed might deteriorate as infection spreads into the deep neck spaces or upper airway mucosa. We report a case of 48-year-old immunocompetent patient with peritonsillar abscess extending primarily into the parapharyngeal and retropharyngeal spaces, followed by unusual secondary extension into the masticator space, the submandibular region, and the anterior neck region. Both intraoral and extraoral incisions were conducted. The patient fully recovered after the drainage procedure and antibiotic treatment.

The article deals with certain aspects of collective labour rights in the European Union. Prerequisites and procedure of this rights guaranting as general principles of EU law are analyzed and their content is characterized. It is emphasized that such legal establishing took place somewhat haphazardly, both at the level of the acts of primary and secondary law of the European Union and in the case law. As a result, there is no single position on the spectrum of collective labour rights as principles of EU labor law. The author focuses on significant changes in the understanding of the necessity of cooperation of social partners and the extension of their interaction at the supranational level. It is under the responsibility of the European Commission to promote cooperation between Member States and to facilitate coordination of their activities in the field of the right of association and collective bargaining between employers and employees. The article clarifies the content of collective labour rights as general principles of EU law on the basis of EU legal acts, the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union, as well as the scientific works of domestic and foreign scholars. It is noted that the system of collective labour rights, as general principles of EU labour law, consists of the right of collective bargaining and collective action, the right of employees to information and consultation within the enterprise, as well as the freedom of assembly and association. It is concluded that the necessity of cooperation between the social partners is recognized as one of the foundations of EU labour law. Herewith appropriate interaction is ensured through the normative-legal consolidation of collective labour rights and procedures for their implementation. After all, European Union legal acts allow employees and employers’ representatives to play an active role in regulating labour legal relations. For example, Member States may instruct employers and employees, upon their joint request, to implement Council directives or decisions. In addition, many directives contain warnings about the possibility of derogating from their provisions through the adoption of a collective agreement.

Directive on preventive restructuring 1023/2019 (hereinafter referred to as the Directive) guarantees the right of bona fide and prospective commercial entities (hereinafter‑debtors) to initiate a preventive restructuring procedure in the absence of signs of bankruptcy, subject to the mandatory consent of the debtor and the majority of creditors, while, if the disagreement of the majority of creditors is not economically justified, the procedure can be approved by the authorized body (hereinafter — the court). The purpose of the procedure is to prevent bankruptcy in advance. A significant common characteristic of preventive restructuring and bankruptcy proceedings is the collective extension of legal consequences to all creditors, including those who disagree, because a single legal will is economically necessary to achieve the goal. In addition, it prohibits any of the creditors, including those from the dissenting minority, from starting enforcement proceedings (bankruptcy proceedings or enforcement proceedings) at a certain period, even if there are grounds provided for by law, since the legal consequences apply to all creditors, which ensures the incentive and effectiveness of the measures taken and avoids a conflict of creditors due to different assessments of the economic situation and prospects of the debtor.

Interval type-2 fuzzy sets (T2FSs) with interval membership grades are suitable for dealing with imprecision or uncertainties in many real-world problems. In the Interval type-2 fuzzy context, the aim of this paper is to develop an interactive signed distance-based simple additive weighting (SAW) method for solving multiple criteria group decision-making problems with linguistic ratings and incomplete preference information. This paper first formulates a group decision-making problem with uncertain linguistic variables and their transformation to interval type-2 trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. Concerning the relative importance of multiple decision-makers and group consensus of fuzzy opinions, a procedure using hybrid averages is then employed to construct a collective decision matrix. By an appropriate extension of the classical SAW approach, this paper utilizes the concept of signed distances and establishes an integrated programming model to manage multi-criteria group decisions under the incomplete and inconsistent preference structure. Further, an interactive procedure is established for group decision making. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed methods are illustrated by a collaborative decision-making problem of patient-centered care (PCC).

From an engineering standpoint, both the skin and subcutaneous tissue act as interconnected load-transmitting structures. They are subject to a variety of intrinsic and environmental influences. Changes in the cutaneous viscoelasticity represent an important aspect in a series of skin conditions. The aim of this work was to explore the methodology of biomechanical measurements in order to better appreciate the evolution and severity of some connective tissue diseases. The Cutometer MPA 580 (C+K electronic) was used in the steep and progressive suction procedures. Adapting measurement modalities was explored in order to mitigate any variability in data collection. The repeat steep suction procedure conveniently reveals the creep phenomenon. By contrast, the progressive suction procedure highlights the hysteresis phenomenon. These viscoelastic characteristics are presently described using the 2 and 4 mm probes on normal skin and in scleroderma, acromegaly, corticosteroid-induced dermatoporosis, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. The apposition of an additional outer contention on the skin altered differently the manifestations of the creep extension and hysteresis among the tested skin conditions. Any change in the mechanical test procedure affects the data. In clinical and experimental settings, it is mandatory to adhere to a strict and controlled protocol.

This study examines how smallholder coffee farmers’ perceptions may influence their engagement in peer mobilization and collective action. Forty smallholder coffee farmers were interviewed in the Central Highlands region of Peru using a closed-ended instrument. The sample of smallholder farmers was achieved using purposive and snowball sampling methods. Quantitative data on farmers’ attitudes and aspirations regarding working with peers, autonomy, and external support as well as knowledge, skills, and behaviors pertinent to collective actions were collected and analyzed using descriptive and correlational procedures. Key findings indicate farmers perceive a need for external support, feel there are benefits of collective actions, and aspire to work with their peers. Based on the findings, it is recommended that practitioners and farmer group leaders focus training efforts on building smallholders’ knowledge and skills in mobilization, encourage peer association/collective action as a source of external support, and target knowledgeable, skilled and confident farmers to lead collective actions. This study has implications to bolster support for farmer-to-farmer extension and technical assistance systems and inform the identification of leader farmers.

A male patient in his 80s presented with the classic signs of Fournier’s gangrene. At his initial debridement, an unusual florid involvement of the right cord was noted requiring a right inguinal orchidectomy in addition to extensive debridement. Although he subsequently stabilised in the intensive care unit, his inflammatory markers were noted to uptrend again requiring a relook procedure which revealed evidence of progressive necrosis in the right inguinal region. After further debridement, a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis revealed intra-abdominal extension of the disease process with a retroperitoneal collection adjacent to the caecum—a rare complication of Fournier’s gangrene. This required open surgical drainage for adequate disease control. He subsequently underwent split skin grafting prior to discharge to a rehabilitation facility.

Abstract This study investigates the use of disaster metaphors in the American media coverage of the 2008 global financial crisis. More specifically, it aims to examine the role of different sub-metaphors in performing various pragmatic and rhetorical functions in financial news discourse. Using the Metaphor Identification Procedure, this study identifies key words from the 1-million-word corpus which comprised the news articles published from September 15, 2008 to March 15, 2009, and examines the associated concordance lines to discern their metaphorical connotations. The findings show that a wide range of sub-source domains of disaster—namely, wind, storm, and water—metaphors was deployed by journalists to capture the various negative impacts of the financial crisis. These findings suggest that the salient extension and mixing of metaphors could enhance the popularization of specialist financial news discourse. The findings also indicate that the news media was complicit in constructing the collective illusion that the financial crisis was unavoidable and not caused by anyone.

This paper presents a Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure (GRASP) for the Prize-Collecting Covering Tour Problem (PCCTP), which is the problem of finding a route for traveling teams that provide services to communities geographically distant from large urban locations. We devised a novel hybrid heuristic by combining a reactive extension of the GRASP with Random Variable Neighborhood Search (VND) meta-heuristic for the purpose of solving the PCCTP. Computational experiments were conducted on a PCCTP benchmark from the literature, and the results demonstrate our approach provides a significant improvement in solving PCCTP and comparable with the state-of-the-art, mainly regarding the computational processing time.

The 3D digitisation of small artefacts is a very complicated procedure because of their complex morphological feature structures, concavities, rich decorations, high frequency of colour changes in texture, increased accuracy requirements etc. Image-based methods present a low cost, fast and effective alternative because laser scanning does not meet the accuracy requirements in general. A shallow Depth of Field (DoF) affects the image-based 3D reconstruction and especially the point matching procedure. This is visible not only in the total number of corresponding points but also in the resolution of the produced 3D model. The extension of the DoF is a very important task that should be incorporated in the data collection to attain a better quality of the image set and a better 3D model. An extension of the DoF can be achieved with many methods and especially with the use of the focus stacking technique. In this paper, the focus stacking technique was tested in a real-world experiment to digitise a museum artefact in 3D. The experiment conditions include the use of a full frame camera equipped with a normal lens (50mm), with the camera being placed close to the object. The artefact has already been digitised with a structured light system and that model served as the reference model in which 3D models were compared and the results were presented.

This article deals with separate groups of labor disputes of teaching staff from institutions of higher education. Based on the author’s expert experience, it has been established that the most common causes of such disputes are the uneven workload distribution during the academic year, incomplete and inaccurate representations of the employee about the content of his work duties, issues of conditions of remuneration, and conduct of competitive procedures. Disputes over the conclusion and extension of contracts are a separate category. On the example of cases considered by the courts of the Republic of Belarus, it is shown what evidence of violation of labor legislation by the employer is accepted by the courts and what circumstances are given legal significance. Particular attention is paid to the procedural aspects of the inter-action of the parties to the employment contract, including compliance with the requirements for the written form of familiarization of the employee with certain information. Based on the analysis of disputes related to the volume of the academic load, and taking into account the possibility of its uneven distribution by semesters, the proposal is substantiated to establish for teachers a cumulative accounting of working time in compliance with the minimum and maximum working hours per week and the maximum working time for the entire account-ing period in accordance with the requirements of labor legislation. A contradiction has been revealed between the norms on the procedure for holding a competition for the positions of teaching staff and the norms of the labor legislation of the Republic of Belarus. The importance of a collective agreement in ensuring the rights of employees from among the teaching staff, including the right to extend the contract, is shown.

Introduction: Mycotic aneurysms are associated with high mortality rates and are managed in the local setting with extra-anatomical bypass followed by ligation, exclusion and debridement of the aneurysm. This is the first case of successful endovascular stenting in an immunocompromised patient with Salmonella mycotic aneurysm. Clinical Picture: A middle-aged man who was HIV positive had Salmonella septicaemia. He developed abdominal pain 5 days after admission and a computed tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen revealed infrarenal aortitis. He developed a mycotic aneurysm 3 weeks later. Treatment: He opted for endovascular stenting and after prolonged antibiotic therapy and negative blood cultures, he underwent the procedure using a TalentTM stent, with an iliac extension. Outcome: He was discharged 1 week after stenting and maintained on oral bactrim based on sensitivity. At 1-year follow-up, he remains well symptomatically and CT scan showed no endoleak or collection. Conclusion: Endovascular stenting, though a fairly new procedure, can be successfully deployed even in a mycotic aneurysm in the right setting. Key words: Aortitis, Aortic aneurysm, Endovascular stenting, Salmonella enteriditis

James Bohman’s work involves a paradigm shift in how we conceive democracy in complex, pluralized, globalized contexts comprised of multiple, overlapping constituencies that often have broad extension in space and time. He breaks with theories that view democracy as comprised of a bounded demos legislating for itself, and which conceptualize democracy as ways of organizing territorial, state-organized political entities. Elements of a progressive democratic theory that travels across borders should be built out of three ideas: (a) a nonutopianism that pays close attention to the “circumstances of politics”; (b) institutions that enable nondomination, which helps to push conflict resolution toward the democratic media of deliberation, bargaining, compromise, and voting; and (c) reflexive institutions that enable the deliberative generation, revision, and renewal of collective procedures and decisions, and which organize the creativity, intelligence, and energy of individuals.

The Regional Producer Network (RPN) functioned across southern Australia as the primary delivery mechanism of the Sustainable Grazing Systems (SGS) Program for 5 years (1996–2001) and the Harvest Year (2001–2002). It consisted of a network of Producer Committees that provided on-ground organisation to coordinate extension activities in the 11 SGS regions. The operation of the RPN was modelled on a participation mode called Interactive Participation. The main objective was to support the adoption of a large-scale practice change in the high rainfall zone towards more productive, profitable and sustainable grazing systems. Strong producer leadership developed and information exchange improved to achieve a high level of impact on management skills among those producers motivated to improve their grazing operations. The characteristics of Interactive Participation were incorporated into the processes and operation of the RPN. Defined and structured methodologies were used for collective and context-specific learning within the framework of a producer network that encouraged interaction. The strength of Interactive Participation was that producers saw participation as a right and not just a means to achieve the program goal. Each region took control over local decisions including the allocation of available resources. The process engaged all sectors of the program (producers, researchers, management and funders). The experiential extension procedures used systematic and structured learning activities to support producers who were committed to learning, on-farm change and improvement to grazing management. In developing a coordinated approach to their operation, the Producer Committees engaged grazing industry researchers, public and private extension practitioners and community groups. This collaboration strengthened local organisations and developed community confidence in the grazing industries.

Although South Africa has not directly grappled with whether to extend the protection of the marital privileges to cohabitant life partners, Canada has. The ‘marital privileges’ refer to spousal testimonial privilege and marital communications privilege, collectively, in this article. In 2015, the Canadian legislature abolished spousal testimonial privilege. The marital communications privilege has been retained, and the Canadian courts have considered whether to extend it to cohabitant life partners or abolish it. To gain perspective on whether the marital privileges in South Africa should be retained but reformed, the authors discuss the position in Canada, a constitutionally comparable democracy. The authors consider the scope and applicability of the marital privileges before and after the 2015 Canadian amendments,1 which abrogated spousal testimonial privilege. The authors discuss the abrogation of spousal testimonial privilege in Canada and consider its relevance in the South African context. Also considered is why the marital communications privilege has been retained. This research suggests that while the central rationale for retaining the marital communications privilege is to foster marital relationships and protect the right to privacy, the rationale of dignity also plays a key role. The authors also consider the decision of the European Court of Human Rights dealing with marital communications privilege in The Netherlands. Finally, it will be submitted that whichever view one takes, the marital privileges in South Africa should not be retained in their current form.

This article aimed to critically and dogmatically understand Democracy in Brazil, its successes and failures, under the epistemological framework of the right to freedom of expression in confrontation with hate speech. Are there limits to freedom of expression? It started with the hypothesis that hate speech in Brazil can reach a superlative dimension, capable of subjugating a democracy so hard won and still pending progress, such as the movement of oppression of minority groups. From a Habermasian perspective, it was proposed to elucidate the role of technology as a way of conveying information, as an instrument for individuals' expression and its influence on decisions made by people. As for the result achieved, freedom of expression, through hate speech, can lead to instability in the democratic order. Within the line of research related to the fundamental right to freedom of expression, citizenship and democracy, the article was developed from the deductive and inductive approach and procedure of bibliographic, documental and case studies review. The theme was relevant, since the extension of freedom, in addition to having repercussions in the individual sphere of each citizen, their form of expression and communication, is of collective interest, as it affects the contours of the exercise of democracy, as it also matters to the operators of law, for the purpose of investigating whether the manifestation put up for discussion in the judicial litigation stems from the fundamental right of freedom of expression or if it goes beyond constitutional limits.

Injury and illness surveillance, and epidemiological studies, are fundamental elements of concerted efforts to protect the health of the athlete. To encourage consistency in the definitions and methodology used, and to enable data across studies to be compared, research groups have published 11 sport-specific or setting-specific consensus statements on sports injury (and, eventually, illness) epidemiology to date. Our objective was to further strengthen consistency in data collection, injury definitions and research reporting through an updated set of recommendations for sports injury and illness studies, including a new Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) checklist extension. The IOC invited a working group of international experts to review relevant literature and provide recommendations. The procedure included an open online survey, several stages of text drafting and consultation by working groups and a 3-day consensus meeting in October 2019. This statement includes recommendations for data collection and research reporting covering key components: defining and classifying health problems; severity of health problems; capturing and reporting athlete exposure; expressing risk; burden of health problems; study population characteristics and data collection methods. Based on these, we also developed a new reporting guideline as a STROBE Extension—the STROBE Sports Injury and Illness Surveillance (STROBE-SIIS). The IOC encourages ongoing in- and out-of-competition surveillance programmes and studies to describe injury and illness trends and patterns, understand their causes and develop measures to protect the health of the athlete. Implementation of the methods outlined in this statement will advance consistency in data collection and research reporting.

The study assessed textile innovations delivery of extension services programme in Nigeria, with a view to establishing its proficiency for rural economic empowerment and development. Explicitly, it examined the project techno-dynamics factor; analysed its economic costume and visibility variables. For this study 10 states and 40 blocks were purposively selected and 320 groups of villages within the selected blocks were visited. Stratified and simple random sampling procedure was used in selecting 15% of respondents from each group of villages, making 3,251 across the nation. While structured and pre-tested questionnaire was used in collecting quantitative data, individual interview schedule and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) were applied in eliciting qualitative information from respondents. Data collected was summarized with the use of descriptive statistics viz; percentages, means and, frequency counts. Factor analysis was applied in isolating critical factors having relationship with proefficiency. The study isolated three important factors that were crucial to proficiency. These were textile innovations socio- technical (25.09%), accessibility (23.74%) and socio-economic (20.25%). It was concluded that the introduced textile innovations was proficient for rural economic empowerment and development. For proficiency, the finding suggests that inputs must be made available at the various extension centers, and on-farm textile producers must have direct access to market board without interference of product-coordinators. In order to reduce the increasing energy consumption for the domestic demands of existing single-family housing and take advantage of frequent building enlargements, this paper presents a methodology and supporting software tool for determining the optimal design configuration of an attic with integrated solar collectors. The analysis procedure is based on parametric modeling, energy simulation and the use of evolutionary algorithms for finding optimal designs. It has been implemented as a Web-platform for public use that provides users with a proposal of an attic shape with maximum solar energy collection, maximum living space and minimum construction envelope for each house according its size and orientation. The attic integrates PV, thermal and hybrid solar panels on one side of the roof. This paper describes the methodology and software design, assessment of the Web-platform usage and case-studies to verify its behavior. In a matter of minutes, the Web-platform enables users to select a specific attic design for each house that has integrated solar collectors that can produce energy to cover almost 100% of domestic energy consumption. The attics designed provide a nearly 30% increase in living space through the extension of one to four rooms, and the construction cost of the envelope is similar to that of a standard housing extension.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of four nonneutral neck positions on intracranial pressure. DESIGN: An alternating treatment design was used to investigate the effect on intracranial pressure of rotation of the head to the left and right, neck flexion and neck extension. Each experimental position was separated by a neutral recovery period. SETTING: Neurological intensive care units in two tertiary care centers in the southwestern United States. SUBJECTS: Ten patients whose intracranial pressure was being therapeutically monitored but who were not experiencing prolonged periods of elevated intracranial pressure. PROCEDURE: Each neck position was maintained manually by the research staff for 5 minutes. Intracranial pressure was recorded at 1-minute intervals throughout the 45-minute data collection period. RESULTS: Rotating the head to the right and left and placing the neck in flexion resulted in significantly higher intracranial pressure readings than the baseline neutral neck position or positioning the neck in extension. The highest individual intracranial pressures always occurred with the head and neck rotated or in flexion. CONCLUSIONS: These data support previous studies that indicated that a patient at risk for pathological increase in intracranial pressure should not be positioned with the neck in flexion or the head turned to either side.

Agreement is the most important source that gives birth to the engagement. One form of engagement in the sources of the agreement is the extension of credit from the bank. This research uses empirical legal research type, data collection techniques in this study using field research. The procedure for granting credit consists of several stages, namely the credit application stage, the location survey stage for prospective debtors, the analysis stage, the decision-making stage, and the credit disbursement stage. The results of the analysis found that the factors that cause default are internal factors and external factors. Internal factors are caused by debtors who are not credible and also unstable economic factors in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic which caused debtors to be unable to pay arrears in the LPD. External factors from the LPD take a persuasive approach to further handling problematic debtors. The purpose of this study is the procedure for granting credit and binding credit agreements carried out in the LPD Desa Pakraman Bebetin, Sawan District, Buleleng Regency, how are the factors that cause default in LPD Desa Pakraman Bebetin, District of Sawan, District of Buleleng.

Background: Injury and illness surveillance, and epidemiological studies, are fundamental elements of concerted efforts to protect the health of the athlete. To encourage consistency in the definitions and methodology used, and to enable data across studies to be compared, research groups have published 11 sport- or setting-specific consensus statements on sports injury (and, eventually, illnesses) epidemiology to date. Objective: To further strengthen consistency in data collection, injury definitions, and research reporting through an updated set of recommendations for sports injury and illness studies, including a new Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) checklist extension. Study Design: Consensus statement of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Methods: The IOC invited a working group of international experts to review relevant literature and provide recommendations. The procedure included an open online survey, several stages of text drafting and consultation by working groups, and a 3-day consensus meeting in October 2019. Results: This statement includes recommendations for data collection and research reporting covering key components: defining and classifying health problems, severity of health problems, capturing and reporting athlete exposure, expressing risk, burden of health problems, study population characteristics, and data collection methods. Based on these, we also developed a new reporting guideline as a STROBE extension—the STROBE Sports Injury and Illness Surveillance (STROBE-SIIS). Conclusion: The IOC encourages ongoing in- and out-of-competition surveillance programs and studies to describe injury and illness trends and patterns, understand their causes, and develop measures to protect the health of the athlete. The implementation of the methods outlined in this statement will advance consistency in data collection and research reporting.

This study seeks to explore stakeholders’ perceptions, causes, and effects of extreme climatic events, such as droughts and floods, in the Wa West District of Ghana’s Upper West Region. A multi-stage sampling procedure is used to select 184 respondents. Data collection methods include individual questionnaire administration, focus group discussions, and a stakeholders’ forum in the Wa West District Assembly. While frequencies are used to show respondents’ perceptions of the severity of climate change effects, a treatmenteffect model is used to determine the factors influencing farmers’ choices of on-farm coping strategies over off-farm activities in both periods of drought and flood. Findings are the following: farmers perceive that climate change is real and has severe consequences. Consequently, they resort to both on-farm and off-farm strategies to cope with the effects of climate change. While men mostly adopt the former, women adopt the latter. Both strategies are, however, not viable for taking them out of poverty, though offfarm activities are more effective. Education and extension services are other important factors influencing the choice of coping strategies as well as farmers’ welfare. Farmers must be supported with more viable income-earning activities, ones that can take them out of poverty. Women should be given priority. Access to education and extension services must also be stepped up to facilitate the adoption of the coping strategies and to increase welfare.

The implementation of educational and preventive oral health procedures in a hospital is fundamental for undergraduates, both for the opportunity of interaction with other health professionals and for the individual and collective growth. This promotes the student’s human and professional formation because it enables the patient’s oral health care within a complete treatment. Objective: The aim of this study was to describe the educational practices (teaching, research, extension and service) in the Hospital Dentistry Course of the School of Dentistry, University of Cuiabá. This first experience led to curriculum change and the creation of a new discipline: Hospital Dentistry. Development: The procedures of tertiary oral health experienced by Dentistry teachers and undergraduates provided the material of this study. The methodological procedures of this new discipline insertion comprised technical-administrative and academic actions aiming to establish a new curriculum in Dentistry Course. For this purpose, actions of exchange and dialogue between the School of Dentistry and the University Hospital managers were executed. The strategy resulted in the insertion of Dentistry undergraduates within this new area of educational practice, involving qualified individuals to organize the discipline. Also, the recognition of other health area professionals was achieved, who realized the importance of dental knowledge in tertiary treatment as a necessary component to avoid complications to the patients, once dental problems affect the patient’s quality of life and imminent risk of death.

The study examined the effect of climate change on income generating activities of farmers in Kwara State, Nigeria. Multi-stage sampling procedure was used to select 240 crop and livestock farmers for the study. The majority (52.4%) of the respondents were literate and had multiple income generating activities (83.7%). Crop farming, collection of forest products, poultry production and goat rearing were the most negatively affected income generating activities. Sex, educational level and household size had significantly positive relationship with farmer’s involvement in income generating activities. A positive significant differences existed in farmers’ income generating activities before and after climate change. Indigenous practices adopted in controlling the effect of climate change do not have significant relationship with farmers’ involvement in income generating activities. Government, research institutes, extension officers, nongovernmental organizations and community leaders should intensify efforts at educating farmers on the need for use of environmentally friendly farming systems in order to reduce the effect of climate change. The goal of this research is to identify the variables influencing individual commercial bank customers’ intentions to use digital banking services. Digital banking is a relatively emerging research context that helps to complement and clarify marketing structures more clearly when combined with different factors to reflect convenience, usefulness, and distinct digital experiences for customers, thereby enhancing brand value for banks. Collecting data from 400 customers of banks in Vietnam is done through an online survey to ensure safety during the epidemic season. Data are analyzed according to the procedure from Cronbach's Alpha test, EFA to CFA, and tested by the SEM model. The results show that the perceived security factor has the most substantial influence on customers' behavioral intentions, thereby driving their actual behavior. Additionally, the usefulness, simplicity, and social influence of behavioral intentions for digital banking services all stimulate customer behavior. In the digital environment, this study suggests that following social phenomena and ensuring customer information security and transactions are extremely important. The results lead to shaping a culture-technology acceptance model based on TAM. That provides important insights and implications for the theoretical underpinnings of security perception, social influence, and usage behavior, such as how they are formed, roles, and relationships interrelationships between them in the digital environment.

<p style='text-indent:20px;'>Given an undirected measurement graph <inline-formula><tex-math id="M1">\begin{document}$ G = ([n], E) $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>, the classical angular synchronization problem consists of recovering unknown angles <inline-formula><tex-math id="M2">\begin{document}$ \theta_1, \dots, \theta_n $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> from a collection of noisy pairwise measurements of the form <inline-formula><tex-math id="M3">\begin{document}$ (\theta_i - \theta_j) \mod 2\pi $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>, for each <inline-formula><tex-math id="M4">\begin{document}$ \{i, j\} \in E $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>. This problem arises in a variety of applications, including computer vision, time synchronization of distributed networks, and ranking from preference relationships. In this paper, we consider a generalization to the setting where there exist <inline-formula><tex-math id="M5">\begin{document}$ k $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> unknown groups of angles <inline-formula><tex-math id="M6">\begin{document}$ \theta_{l, 1}, \dots, \theta_{l, n} $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>, for <inline-formula><tex-math id="M7">\begin{document}$ l = 1, \dots, k $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>. For each <inline-formula><tex-math id="M8">\begin{document}$ {\left\{{{i, j}}\right\}} \in E $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>, we are given noisy pairwise measurements of the form <inline-formula><tex-math id="M9">\begin{document}$ \theta_{\ell, i} - \theta_{\ell, j} $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> for an <i>unknown</i> <inline-formula><tex-math id="M10">\begin{document}$ \ell \in \{1, 2, \ldots, k\} $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>. This can be thought of as a natural extension of the angular synchronization problem to the heterogeneous setting of multiple groups of angles, where the measurement graph has an unknown edge-disjoint decomposition <inline-formula><tex-math id="M11">\begin{document}$ G = G_1 \cup G_2 \ldots \cup G_k $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>, where the <inline-formula><tex-math id="M12">\begin{document}$ G_i $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>'s denote the subgraphs of edges corresponding to each group. We propose a probabilistic generative model for this problem, along with a spectral algorithm for which we provide a detailed theoretical analysis in terms of robustness against both sampling sparsity and noise. The theoretical findings are complemented by a comprehensive set of numerical experiments, showcasing the efficacy of our algorithm under various parameter regimes. Finally, we consider an application of bi-synchronization to the graph realization problem, and provide along the way an iterative graph disentangling procedure that uncovers the subgraphs <inline-formula><tex-math id="M13">\begin{document}$ G_i $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>, <inline-formula><tex-math id="M14">\begin{document}$ i = 1, \ldots, k $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> which is of independent interest, as it is shown to improve the final recovery accuracy across all the experiments considered.</p>

In this work, the Kármán–Pohlhausen (KP) momentum-integral approach based on optimized fourth-order (MX4) polynomial approximations of the velocity and temperature profiles is applied to a classical benchmark problem, namely, that of a cylinder in crossflow with a variable pressure gradient. This enables us to extract closed-form expressions for both hydrodynamic and thermal boundary-layer parameters and then compare the newly found solutions to their counterparts obtained using Pohlhausen's cubic (KP3) and quartic (KP4) polynomials. As usual, the farfield around the cylinder is modeled using potential flow theory and the momentum-integral analysis is paired with Walz's empirical expression for the momentum thickness, which is based on a wide collection of experiments. This procedure permits retrieving explicit relations for the pressure-sensitive KP3, KP4, and MX4 velocity profiles across the boundary layer; one also obtains accurate approximations for the pressure distribution around the cylinder as well as an improved prediction of the separation point, namely, to within 0.87% of the actual location. In this process, refined estimates are produced for several characteristic parameters whose distributions are found to be in favorable agreement with experimental measurements and numerical simulations. These include the disturbance, momentum, and displacement thicknesses as well as the skin friction, pressure, and total drag coefficients. Finally, the thermal analysis is undertaken using both isothermal and isoflux boundary conditions. For each of these cases, closed-form analytical solutions are obtained for the local Nusselt number distribution around the cylinder, and these distributions are found to exhibit noticeably reduced errors relative to their classical values.

This article intends to summarize the findings of studies on the relationship between farmers’ behavioral intentions (BI) and water-conservation behavior (WCB) using the theory of planned behavior (TPB). A systematic review of transcripts obtained from Internet-based searching on reliable scientific databases (e.g., SID, ProQuest, Springer, Science Direct, John Wiley, Sage, Taylor & Francis, Emerald Insight, and Google Scholar) was followed by outfitting data for the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) software. Data from a total of 28 studies on WCB were synthesized and analyzed through the CMA procedure. The resulting evidence demonstrates that the total and summarized estimate point (i.e., correlation) for the associations of attitude (ATT), subjective norms (SNs), and perceived behavioral control (PBC) with BI was 0.46, 0.36, and 0.26, respectively (r(t)PBC < r(t) SNs < r(t)ATT → BI). Furthermore, the effect size of the relationship between PBC and WCB was 0.27. The largest effect size pertained to the relationship between BI and WCB (BI → WCB) (r(t)BI = 0.52). The take-home message of the article is that hypothetical statements of the TPB are confirmed, as would be hypothesized. These findings should still be regarded in the field of WCB research; thus, policymakers need to provide solutions and adapt their policy initiatives for water resource management based on these findings. For example, one of the solutions to improve water resource management based on the research results is to examine the views and realities constructed by farmers of water resources and related management styles before carrying out water resource management projects. Identifying the potential capabilities of farmers and their economic and social background to expand water-conservation behavior and the tendency and acceptance of water resource management project to be implemented is also an important requirement in making resource management projects effective. The use of various methods of the individual, group, and collective communication to interact with farmers combined with provision of extension training, as well as mobilizing and organizing farmers to facilitate effective management of water resources are recommended.

Abstract Background Selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) in ambulatory children affected by cerebral palsy (CP) is a surgical treatment option to lower spasticity and thereby improve gait and ambulation. The aim of the current study is to investigate the outcome of children with respect to spasticity, muscle strength, and overall function after SDR. Methods All children who underwent SDR via a single-level laminotomy in the time period from January 2007 to April 2015 at our center were enrolled in this study. Within a standardized evaluation process, the following was assessed routinely pre-operatively and 12 and 24 months following surgery: extent of spasticity at hip adductors and hamstrings as characterized by the Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), maximal muscle strength as characterized by the Medical Council Research Scale (MRC), overall function regarding ambulation as characterized by the Gross Motors Function Classification System (GFMCS), and overall function as characterized by the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM-88). Results Matching sets of pre- and post-operative assessments of the chosen outcome parameters were available for 109 of the 150 children who underwent SDR within the observation period. After 24 months, the MAS scores of hip adductors (n = 59) improved in 71% and 76% of children on the right and left side, respectively. In 20% and 19%, it remained unchanged and worsened in 9% and 5% of children on the right and left side, respectively (p < 0.00625). For hamstrings, the rates for the right and left sides were 81% and 79% improvement, 16% and 16% unchanged, and 4% and 5% worsened, respectively (p < 0.00625). Muscle strength of ankle dorsiflexion and knee extension significantly improved after 24 months. Overall function assessed by GMFM-88 improved significantly by 4% after 12 months (n = 77) and by 7% after 24 months (n = 56, p < 0.0001). Conclusions The presented data underlines the benefit of SDR in a pediatric patient collective with bilateral spastic CP. The procedure resulted in an effective and permanent reduction of spasticity and improved overall function without causing relevant weakness of the lower extremities.

The WG5 committee, at its meeting in Delft, May 2005, decided to include co-arrays in the next Fortran Standard. A Fortran program containing co-arrays is interpreted as if it were replicated a fixed number of times and all copies were executed asynchronously. Each copy has its own set of data objects and is called an image. The array syntax of Fortran is extended with additional trailing subscripts in square brackets to give a clear and straightforward representation of access to data on other images. References without square brackets are to local data, so code that can run independently is uncluttered. Any occurrence of square brackets is a warning about communication between images. The additional syntax requires support in the compiler, but it has been designed to be easy to implement and to give the compiler scope both to apply its optimizations within each image and to optimize the communication between images. The extension includes execution control statements for synchronizing images and intrinsic procedures to return the number of images, to return the index of the current image, and to perform collective operations. The paper does not attempt to describe the full details of the feature as it now appears in the draft of the new standard. Instead, we describe a subset and demonstrate the use of this subset with examples.

This study examines on the adoption and intensity of soybean production technology in the Kondala district. A two-stage sampling procedure was followed to select the sample households for the study. The study is based on primary data collected from 185 sample-selected households. Four rural kebeles were selected by using simple random sampling. The semi-structured interview schedule was developed, for collecting the essential quantitative data for the study and secondary data were used as additional data sources. Descriptive statistics and the Tobit model were used to analyse the data. This study also identifies soybean production technologies such as recommended seeding rate, recommended fertilizer applications, land allocation. The result of the descriptive statistics showed that the majority of farmers 57.3% were adopters and the remaining 42.7% were non adopters. In terms of land allocation and use of technologies there was a statistical significance difference in technology usage between adopters and non-adopters. The Tobit model results indicated that household ages, education level, farm experience, membership in cooperatives, access to agricultural inputs, participation in non-farm activities, and frequency of extension contact positively and significantly influenced the adoption and intensity of the use of soybean technologies. Whereas, distance from the market centre showed, a negative relationship with the adoption and intensity of adoption of soybeans production technology. The overall finding of the study underlined the high importance of institutional support in the areas of extension; membership in cooperatives and market to enhance the adoption of an improved soybean production package. Therefore, policy and development interventions should give emphasis to the improvement of such institutional support so as to achieve wider adoption which increases the productivity and income of smallholder farmers.

The operation and planning of distribution grids require the joint processing of measurements from different grid locations. Since measurement devices in low- and medium-voltage grids lack precise clock synchronization, it is important for data management platforms of distribution system operators to be able to account for the impact of nonideal clocks on measurement data. This paper formally introduces a metric termed Additive Alignment Error to capture the impact of misaligned averaging intervals of electrical measurements. A trace-driven approach for retrieval of this metric would be computationally costly for measurement devices, and therefore, it requires an online estimation procedure in the data collection platform. To overcome the need of transmission of high-resolution measurement data, this paper proposes and assesses an extension of a Markov-modulated process to model electrical traces, from which a closed-form matrix analytic formula for the Additive Alignment Error is derived. A trace-driven assessment confirms the accuracy of the model-based approach. In addition, the paper describes practical settings where the model can be utilized in data management platforms with significant reductions in computational demands on measurement devices.

Folk dance is a collection of traditional dances that requires years of practicing to perform correctly. The aim of the present study was to develop a complex biomechanical measurement procedure that investigated Hungarian folk dancers’ balancing ability and lower body kinematics through a dance movement called “Kalocsai mars”. Therefore, 11 dancers’ motion (5 female and 6 male; age: 20.5 ± 2.5 years; height: 173.82 ± 7.82 cm; weight: 64.77 ± 8.67 kg) was recorded with an optical-based motion capture system and force platforms simultaneously. Before and after the dancing session, static balancing tests were performed, examining bipedal stance with eyes opened and closed conditions. The ANOVA results showed that the values of the range of motions of the knee joint flexion-extension angles and hip flexion averaged for sessions increased significantly (p=0.044, p=0.003, p=0.005) during the dancing sessions. The deviation in the joint angle was greater in the nondominant legs, suggesting that the nondominant side requires more attention to execute the dance steps correctly. The results of the balance tests showed that the oscillation in the posterior direction increased significantly after dancing (p=0.023). In comparison, the visual feedback had no significant effect on the dancers’ balancing ability.

Attitude is a behavioural construct that cannot be measured by a single variable, hence the need for developing a standardized instrument for its measurement. The present study has been conducted to develop a reliable and valid instrument for exploration of farmers’ attitudinal orientation towards Precision Conservation Agricultural Practices (PCAPs). PCAPs are technologies and practices that are capable of helping farmers to apply right resources at the right place, at the right time, with a right method. The combination of these technologies and practices can help in achieving optimum resource stewardship and resource conservation at the farmers’ field. However, the attitude of farmers’ may influence the uptake of these practices at farmers’ field. A step by step procedure of developing standardized attitude scale was followed using Likert’s summated rating approach. The steps include item collection, relevancy test, item analysis, reliability test as well as validity test. Finally, thirty items were selected for the attitude scale which were found reliable at Spearman Brown coefficient of 0.75 and satisfied content validity. The attitude scale may be useful for researchers and extension functionaries in the field of Precision Conservation Agriculture (PCA) as well as climate smart agriculture (CSA).

Stations are being converted into various living spaces that can be used for public transportation, work, commerce, and leisure. To satisfy the various requirements and expectations for functional extension, it is necessary to investigate and understand the phenomena caused by users. A methodology to cluster the characteristics of pedestrian space of a railway station through the pedestrian trajectory data collected from an actual operating station is proposed in this paper. Then the spatial usability of the movement and stay of pedestrians were defined through the results of the clustering. The procedure to cluster the indoor space characteristics of an urban railway station in this study consists of four steps: data collection, feature vector extraction, K-means clustering, and cluster characteristics analysis. A case study was conducted for the Samseong station. The results of the proposed spatial clustering analysis showed that there are several types of spaces depending on the space occupancy characteristics of pedestrians. The proposed methodology could be applied to indoor space diagnosis from the perspective of station monitoring and management. In addition, the station operator could respond flexibly to unexpected events by monitoring the indoor spaces according to whether the flow is normal or suggestive of an emergency.

Climate change poses significant challenges to agriculture and land productivity particularly in regions heavily dependent on rain-fed agriculture like Ebonyi State, Nigeria. This study analyzed the effects of climate change on sweet potato production in Nigeria. Multi-stage sampling procedure was used to select 301 respondents. The drafted questionnaire was used for data collection following the specific objectives of study. Descriptive statistics, land productivity model, and multiple regression model were used for the data analysis. Results revealed that the majority of respondents (64.1%) were males, married (73.1%), young (42.2%), experienced (55.5%) and relatively educated (49.8%) with household and farm sizes of 7 and 1.8 hectares. The majority of the farmers (41.5%) were aware of changes in climate. Farm sizes of 1.1-2.0 hectares produced the highest land productivity (1769.831 hectares) in the state from about 51.5% of the farmers. Rising temperature, rainfall, and number of rainy days, influenced sweet potato production negatively; while sunshine hours and relative humidity had significant positive influences. Poor access to extension and services, land fragmentation, capital, inadequate information concerning climate change, and high cost of input resources constrained potato cultivation. The study recommends farmers to practice climate smart agricultural techniques and to seek early climate change information to mitigate negative effects of changing climate on sweet potato production.

Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) has remained a major source of food security and income generation for most developing countries including Tanzania due to its ability to drought and disease resistance. At present, its production in Tanzania stands at 630,000 tons while the country's market demand is expected to grow at 7% by 2026. Therefore, this study assessed the contribution of cassava production and marketing on the livelihood of smallholder farmers in Tanzania particularly in the Dodoma region, so as to explore its potential contributions to the society welfare. A cross-sectional research design was employed whereby a multi-stage sampling procedure was used in selecting a sample of 240 cassava smallholder farmers from four districts in the Dodoma region namely Kondoa, Chemba, Kongwa, and Mpwapwa. Quantitative data were collected through self-administered structured questionnaires and focus group discussion, interview and observation methods also were used in collecting qualitative data from the study area. Content analysis was used in analyzing qualitative data. A binary logistic regression model was employed to estimate the contribution of cassava production and marketing on smallholder farmers’ livelihoods in the region. The findings from the study indicated that family size, farmers’ experience, land size, education, number of visits by extension, and market access statistically were significant with showed a positive relationship with the improvement in the livelihood of farmers in the selected districts. On the other hand, transportation costs showed a negative relation with the improvement of farmers’ livelihood. Generally, it can be concluded that an increase in production and improvement in marketing variables could contribute much to the improvement of smallholder farmers’ livelihood. Based on these findings, it is recommended that Ministries responsible for cassava production and marketing which included the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade focus more on the design, promotion, and implementation of policies and programs that are intended to enhance cassava production in rural areas and increase the provision of best farming practices through employing more extension officers.

In the era of increasing population growth, the need for housing is also increasing, but the area of ??land needed is decreasing, for that, the way to overcome this is to build houses or shop houses for rent. However, not all people can afford to build these houses or shophouses. Therefore, a house or shophouse rental agreement was made. The problem in this study is how the procedure for a shop house rental agreement occurs between the parties, what are the rights and obligations of the parties in the shophouse rental agreement and what is the responsibility of the shop house tenant if it occurs. damage when the lease agreement expires. This research was conducted in the city of Medan. This research is descriptive. The approach method used is the normative juridical method and the empirical juridical method. The data used are primary data and secondary data. Data collection methods are library data and field studies. Data were collected using a questionnaire. After collecting the data, it was analyzed qualitatively. The shophouse rental agreement entered into by the parties begins with an agreement which is then included in a contract that they have drawn up themselves. The shop owner's obligations are to provide shop-houses that are suitable for use, hand over shop-keys, provide supporting facilities (for example: water, PAM, electricity and telephone), not to lease back to other parties during the current lease period, ask the tenant whether this is done extension of the lease at the shophouse and submit supporting documents in the agreement. Meanwhile, the tenant's obligation is to pay the rent for the shop, to maintain the condition of the shop properly, to pay the budget for the tenant's fees (for example: water, electricity and telephone). If there is damage to the shop at the time the lease agreement ends

Abstract Background Shoulder joint is the most mobile joint of the body. Shoulder joint dislocation accounts for the 50% of all the dislocations. Its incidence is 2 % among general population. In most of the cases it is recurrent shoulder dislocation and in 97% cases of recurrent dislocation it is anterior dislocation. Mechanism for recurrent anterior dislocation is abduction, external rotation and extension. There is persistent inability of tissues to keep the humeral head in glenoid cavity. It may result from sudden injury to glenoid cavity (Bankart lesion), proximal humerus (Hillsachs lesion), repetitive micro trauma or and a result of generalized ligamentous laxity. Once the shoulder is dislocated it is vulnerable to repetitive episodes. Objective: To compare the functional outcome of two different treatment modalities (latarjet &Bristow procedure and Bankart Repair) in recurrent anterior shoulder dislocation Subjects and methods Study design: randomized clinical trial Settings and duration: department of orthopaedic surgery services hospital Lahore from December 2017 to December 2018. Sample collection: A total no of 40 patients with age 18-30 years both male and female having recurrent anterior dislocation of shoulder were included in the study. Patients with ligamentous laxity, psychological ailment and global instability were excluded from the study. Data collection and analysis: Patients were divided in two groups having 20 patients in each group. Detailed history, clinical examination, radiographs, CT scan and MRI was completed to establish the diagnosis of recurrent anterior shoulder dislocation. We performed Bristow latarjet procedure in group a and Bankart repair in group B. All patients were followed at 1st , 2nd , 3rd , 4th,6th week and then at 4th , 6th and 9 months clinically and radiologically to assess the Instability and mobility by using Rowe score. Results: there were 16 males and 4 females while in group B were 17 males and 3 females. Mean age in group A was 26.7 years (18-30) while in group B was 27 years (18-29) which was statistically insignificant (p>0.05). Right shoulder was involved in 13 (65%) patients in group A and 15 (75%) in group B. left shoulder was involved in 7 (35%) patients of Group A and 5 (25%) of group B. In group A 18 patients had excellent results, one patient was having grade I subluxation and one patient had positive apprehension test. In group B four patients had recurrence and three patients had subluxation of grade II. Conclusion Results of latarjet and Bristow procedure were excellent than Banckart repair. Patients satisfaction was also better in group A than group B.

<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> The development of autonomous vehicles nowadays is attractive, but a resource-intensive procedure. It requires huge time and money efforts. The different carmakers have therefore common struggles of involving cheaper, faster and accurate computer-based tools, among them the simulators. Automotive simulations expect reality information, where the recent data collection techniques have excellent contribution possibilities. Accordingly, the paper has a focus on the use of mobile laser scanning data in supporting automotive simulators. There was created a pilot site around the university campus, which is a road network with very diverse neighborhood. The data acquisition was conducted by a Leica Pegasus Two mobile mapping system. The achieved point clouds and imagery were submitted to extract road axes, road borders, but also lane borders and lane markings. By this evaluation, the OpenDRIVE representation was built, which is directly transferable into various simulators. Based on the roads’ geometric description, a standardized pavement surface model was created in OpenCRG format. CRG is a Curved Regular Grid, containing all surface height information and objects, but also anomalies. The 3D laser point clouds could easily be transformed into voxel models, then these models can be projected onto two vertical roadside grids (ribbons), which are practically an extension to the OpenCRG model. Adequate visualizations demonstrate the obtained results.</p>

Effective use of encapsulated sperm requires careful review of: (a) the conditions under which the procedure can be effectively used; (b) assessment of the effect of storage conditions on sperm survival; (c) description of the environment of the female tract before, during and after capsule deposition; and (d) economic evaluation of impact and costs of the putative technology. Sperm survival depends on successful sustenance over two periods of storage (at subambient temperatures after collection and extension, then at body temperature when placed in the female tract) and one period of action (after release and until fertilization). The bioenergetic requirements of cauda epididymal and ejaculated bull and ram sperm are reviewed in terms of absolute ATP needs and are discussed in terms of storage needs. In addition, sperm inactivation by lipid peroxidation is discussed and suggestions are provided to minimize the process. Two general types of containers are possible. An open porous form allows free passage of nutrients and metabolic products; the entrapped sperm are thus subjected to the changing environment in the female tract. The other form is a sealed capsule that opens to release sperm before ovulation; it provides a sperm storage environment independent of female tract chemistry but introduces problems of nutrient supply and metabolite release. Potential experimental approaches to evaluate each type of system are discussed.

Abstract This study investigated farmers’ use of sustainable production practices for yellow pepper crop in the Nsukka agricultural zone, Enugu State, Nigeria. Multi-stage sampling procedure was used in selecting 135 farmers and interview schedule using structured questionnaires was employed for data collection. Data generated were analysed with SPSS software using frequency and percentage, mean scores, standard deviation, factor analysis, and logistic regression. Findings revealed that the majority (91.1%) of the yellow pepper farmers had moderate knowledge on sustainable production practices and that some of the practices used were mass selection (97.0%), use of poultry manure (95.60%), use of improved varieties of yellow pepper (94.0%), crop rotation practices (91.10%), and minimum use of agrochemicals (78.50). Among the factors considered to be potential determinants of farmers’ use of sustainable production practices, only sex was statistically significant, at 5% level. Also, findings indicated that technical, institutional, and economic constraints affected farmers’ use of sustainable production practices. Furthermore, results indicated that sustainable production practices could be enhanced through the use of improved seeds (85.5%), access to credit facilities (77.8%), access to extension services (71.8%), and training of farmers (68.9%). The study therefore recommends that government and private sectors should provide services that will facilitate the development of sustainable production practices of Nsukka yellow pepper crop, as this will have a long-term effect on productivity and the production environment.
