Extended scope practitioners (ESPs) are specialist occupational therapists and physiotherapists working beyond their recognised scope of practice. The aims of this study were to identify the number, training and scope of practice of hand therapists working as ESPs. Thirty-five ESPs were identified and sent a questionnaire examining aspects of their practice. Thirty-two ESPs (91%) replied. The findings show that the ESPs worked in four models of practice: own clinic environment, rheumatology, preoperative and post-operative clinics. Their activities included making diagnoses, injections, joint aspirations and wound care. ESPs referred patients for surgery, investigative procedures and therapy. Training was largely experiential and there were unmet training needs. It can be concluded from this study that ESPs are undertaking aspects of care that traditionally have been undertaken by doctors and nurses. The development of ESPs has training implications.

Physiotherapists and occupational therapists working within hand therapy in the United Kingdom are undertaking roles working beyond their normal professional boundaries. The aim of this study was to reach consensus on the role parameters and required knowledge, training and competencies desirable for such extended roles. A panel of 21 expert stakeholders comprising hand therapy clinicians, educators, doctors, existing extended scope practitioners and a representative from a patient group participated in three survey rounds using the Delphi technique. They examined three groups of parameters with reference to the competencies, knowledge and activities desirable for such extended roles. A prioritised list of parameters was developed. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. Response rates for each round were consistently 95% or greater. The results showed areas of clear consensus, with prioritisation supporting the development of an independent practitioner working without direct supervision by a medical practitioner. Specific criteria were identified for such practice with regards to knowledge, training and activities, such as the ability to order, understand and interpret clinical investigations. In-house formal training tailored to individual service needs was the favoured approach. The results of this study can inform the development of a national strategy for the implementation of new ways of working while ensuring the provision of a quality health service.

Three Registered Nurses (RN’s) undertook training and commenced practice as Rural Isolated Practice Endorsed Registered Nurses (RIPERNs) in a small rural Victorian health service, Australia. This advanced practice role is new to the health service and allows RIPERN’s to undertake some procedures usually performed by medical practitioners. As a form of evaluation, interviews were conducted with seven General Practitioners (GP’s) who have admitting privileges at the health service and three RIPERN’s who had commenced the extended scope of practice role. Data was analysed and findings revealed strong benefits from the perspective of the GP’s and the RIPERN’s. These benefits included overall improved work-life balance for the GP’s, increased confidence and capabilities for the RIPERN’s and overall perceived improvement in the delivery of services at this small rural health service. Negative findings included misconceptions about the RIPERN extended scope of practice and increased demands experienced by RIPERN’s.

Zimbabwean pharmacists undergo university level education to understand the biochemical mechanisms and actions of medicines but are limited in their scope of practice. They are called medicines experts, yet they are not allowed to apply their specialized knowledge independently in direct patient management. We aim to obtain Zimbabwean pharmacists’ perceptions on extending their scope of practice and to evaluate the Zimbabwe pharmacy honours degree curriculum to determine the competencies covered and whether these are in-line with an extended scope of practice. Qualitative semi-structured interviews with selected pharmacists were conducted to gather perspectives on the BPharm (Hons) curricula and extending pharmacists’ scope of practice. A desktop review of the pharmacy curricula was also conducted to determine competencies covered. The results showed that pharmacists are keen to extend their scope of practice but the curriculum does not equip them with the required exit level competencies. “The pharmacist is obviously not equipped currently but needs to be involved in direct patient care such as identifying and managing medicine therapy problems, prescription extension, ordering and reviewing laboratory data and administrationof vaccines and immunizations”. There exists an opportunity for pharmacists to extend their scope of practice in order to achieve universal health coverage.

Objective Queensland Health established a Ministerial Taskforce to consult on and make recommendations for the expansion of the scope of practice of allied health roles. This paper describes the findings from the stakeholder consultation. Methods The Ministerial Taskforce was chaired by the Assistant Minister for Health and included high-level representation from allied health, nursing, medicine, unions, consumers and universities. Widespread engagement was undertaken with stakeholders representing staff from a wide cross-section of health service provision, training and unions. Participants also tendered evidence of models incorporating full-scope and extended scope tasks undertaken by allied health professionals. Results The consultation incorporated 444 written submissions and verbal feedback from over 200 participants. The findings suggest that full scope of practice is often restricted within the Queensland public health system, resulting in underuse of allied health capacity and workforce inefficiencies. However, numerous opportunities exist to enhance patient care by extending current roles, including prescribing and administering medications, requesting investigations, conducting procedures and reporting results. The support needed to realise these opportunities includes: designing patient-centred models of service delivery (including better hours of operation and delegation to support staff); leadership and culture change; funding incentives; appropriate education and training; and clarifying responsibility, accountability and liability for outcomes. The taskforce developed a series of recommendations and an implementation strategy to operationalise the changes. Conclusions The Ministerial Taskforce was an effective and efficient process for capturing broad-based engagement for workforce change while ensuring high-level support and involving potential adversaries in the decision-making processes. What is known about the topic? Anecdotal evidence exists to suggest that allied health professionals do not work to their full scope of practice and there is potential to enhance health service efficiencies by ensuring practitioners are supported to work to their full scope of practice. What does this paper add? This paper presents the findings from a large-scale consultation, endorsed by the highest level of state government, that reinforces the perceptions that allied health professionals do not work to full scope of practice, identifies several barriers to working to full scope and extended scope of practice, and opportunities for workforce efficiencies arising from expanding scope of practice. The top-down engagement process should expedite the implementation of workforce change. What are the implications for practitioners? High-level engagement and support is an effective and efficient way to broker change and overcome intraprofessional barriers to workforce change policies. However, practitioners are often prevented from expanding their roles through an implied need to ‘ask for permission’, when, in fact, the only barriers to extending their role are culture and historical practice.

In 2018, an employing organisation in the north of England introduced an initiative for health visitors and school nurses (SCPHN) to work in the other field of practice. The aim of this study was to explore SCPHN professionals’ and managers’ views about the introduction, benefits and challenges of extended SCPHN practice. Semi-structured interviews were undertaken with health visitors, school nurses, practice teachers, mentors and managers undertaking or supporting this initiative (n=18) and one focus group with eight SCPHNs working in the 0–19 service. These were audio-recorded, transcribed and thematically analysed. Workplace learning was challenging. Support from colleagues, mentors and practice teachers was crucial. Additional skills and knowledge were valued. SCPHNs gained confidence in working with children and families across the 0–19 age range. Additional skills enabled SCPHNs to deliver a more streamlined service to families with children aged 0–19 but concerns about workforce capacity and changing professional roles remain.

I discuss and argue for combinations of artistic practice and cultural analysis, for meta-disciplinary and serendipitous endeavours that can entangle art and ethnographic research. These combinations can be understood as practices that are more-than-academic. I define the artistic side of this combinatory work as art probing. Art probes have a double function. First, they can instil inspiration and be possible points of departure for research, and, second, they can be used to communicate scientific concepts and arguments beyond the scope of academic worlds. According to this point of view, artistic and scientific output should be seen as provisional renditions oriented towards different audiences and as part of an extended open-ended art of inquiry. When working with this more-than-academic practice, a number of stakeholders are involved, ranging from academic professionals to art institutions, museums and visitors of art exhibitions, and performances. I will discuss how I understand ethnography as part of this process and in relation to practices of art probing.

Aims To identify education priorities for practice nursing across eight London Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs); to identify the education, training, development and support needs of practice nurses in undertaking current and future roles. Background The education needs of practice nurses have long been recognised but their employment status means that accessing education requires the support of their GP employer. This study scopes the educational requirements of the practice nurse workforce and working with educational providers and commissioners describes a coherent educational pathway for practice nurses. Method A survey of practice nurses to scope their educational attainment needs was undertaken. Focus groups were carried out which identified the education, training, development and support needs of practice nurses to fulfil current and future roles. Findings A total of 272 respondents completed the survey. Practice nurses took part in three focus groups (n=34) and one workshop (n=39). Findings from this research indicate a practice nurse workforce which lacked career progression, role autonomy or a coherent educational framework. Practice nurses recognised the strength of their role in building relationship-centred care with patients over an extended period of time. They valued this aspect of their role and would welcome opportunities to develop this to benefit patients. Conclusion This paper demonstrates an appetite for more advanced education among practice nurses, a leadership role by the CCGs in working across the whole system to address the education needs of practice nurses, and a willingness on the part of National Health Service education commissioners to commission education which meets the education needs of the practice nurse workforce. Evidence is still required, however, to inform the scope of the practice nurse role within an integrated system of care and to identify the impact of practice nursing on improving health outcomes and care of local populations.

Extended scope practitioners (ESPs) are specialist occupational therapists and physiotherapists working beyond their recognised scope of practice. Thirty-five hand therapists were identified as working in this role in Britain, primarily in pre- and post-operative settings. A postal survey of the 31 consultants with whom they worked investigated their views on the nature of this role and service; the facilitating and constraining factors to this development; and on required qualifications, training and supervision. Seventeen consultants, all hand surgeons, replied. They reported that the principle reasons for the development of ESPs were the need to reduce the waiting list and the consultants’ workload. A variety of roles had been created, reflecting the different service needs and the skills of the therapists. Training was largely experiential. Extended scope practitioners had had a significant impact on waiting lists. There was variation in the surgeons’ views regarding further development of these posts. Concerns were identified regarding these posts, such as professional isolation, the transferability of skills, inappropriate extension of the role and the potential for litigation.

Leadership and management form a key part of advanced clinical practice (ACP) and work in synergy with the other pillars of advanced practice. Advanced clinical practitioners focus on improving patient outcomes, and with application of evidence-based practice, using extended and expanded skills, they can provide cost-effective care. They are equipped with skills and knowledge, allowing for the expansion of their scope of practice by performing at an advanced level to assist in meeting the needs of people across all healthcare settings and can shape healthcare reform. Advanced practice can be described as a level of practice, rather than a type of practice. There are four leadership domains of advanced nursing practice: clinical leadership, professional leadership, health system leadership and health policy leadership, each requiring a specific skill set, but with some overlaps. All nurses should demonstrate their leadership competencies—collectively as a profession and individually in all settings where they practice.

Although otorhinolaryngology-specific applications represent a small proportion, there are exciting innovations emerging for the specialty. This article will assess the number of applications available and review how they may be used in clinical practice.MethodThe application stores of the two most popular mobile phone platforms, Apple and android, were searched using multiple search terms.ResultsA total of 107 ENT applications were identified and categorised according to intended use. Eight applications were reviewed in more detail and assessed on whether a doctor or allied health professional was involved in their design and if they were evidence-based.ConclusionThere are a number of ENT-specific smartphone applications currently available. As the technology progresses, their scope has extended beyond being purely for reference. Nevertheless, it remains difficult to assess the validity and security of these applications.

The Ninth ACM SIGPLAN International Conference on Functional Programming (ICFP) took place on September 19–21 2004 in Snowbird, Utah. The scope of ICFP includes all languages that encourage programming with functions, with topics ranging from principles to practice, foundations to features, and abstractions to applications. The program committee, which I chaired, selected 21 papers from 80 submissions for presentation at the conference. Afterwards, the program committee invited the authors of nine papers to submit extended versions for this special issue of JFP. The seven papers that appear in this volume were reviewed, revised, and accepted following standard Journal of Functional Programming procedures. Reflecting the scope of the conference, the papers cover the theoretical foundations, implementation, design, programming techniques, and applications of functional languages.

The Graffiti Transformation Project was a City of Toronto, Canada sponsored programme funding ‘marginalised youth’ to paint over graffitied walls with public murals. I argue the imperatives driving the project extended beyond the reaches of policy concentrated on youth remediation, to include concerns of urban governance as a spatial and aesthetic problematic. I explore the manner in which practices of graffiti eradication and community mural making generated a set of calculations that were informed by globally mobile aesthetic norms and were, in turn, aesthetically informing. These calculations were used as an epistemological baseline for assessing, at least at the level of appearance, a host of urban problematics including Toronto’s desire to position itself globally as a functioning multicultural city. Turning to Jacques Ranciere’s thoughts about the space of political aesthetics, I draw on an ethnographic example to tease out a moment of aesthetic engagement in which youth artists interrupted the codes and practices associated with creative city entrepreneurialism to render another configuration of politics, another way of being social. Implications for broadening the scope of urban youth policy scholarship to include analysis of an aesthetic turn are considered.

As definitions of “family” have evolved in the US over the past several decades, so too has child welfare agencies’ need to provide appropriate and meaningful services. This article discusses the findings and conclusions drawn from a case study involving two different types of social work agencies: Native American child welfare and not- for-profit family services. Within this discussion, the authors use their findings from case study vignette focus groups to explore how the definitions of family impact the provision of services.At each agency, participants addressed issues surrounding domestic violence, teen pregnancy, child welfare involvement and the inclusion of extended families as part of client’s support network. By focusing on the changing social concept of “family,” the study’s respondents discussed the need for direct practice using broader, more inclusive approaches to family and child welfare. Through the comparison of two agencies which serve different demographics, the article makes clear that further study is needed, and a wider scope must be considered, in order to adequately serve America’s expanding population in need of family services, direct practice and extended support.

Background The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network is serviced by one orthopaedic surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery. In 2011, the waiting list to see the surgeon was expanding and the need for assistance was growing. The Department of Podiatry agreed to provide a podiatrist to assist in the management of the outpatient waiting list. Although patient outcome is an important outcome measure, we were interested in evaluating the service with respect to how satisfied patients were with seeing a podiatrist. Therefore, the primary aim of the study was to evaluate patient satisfaction with podiatry-led clinics for the orthopaedic outpatient waiting list. Secondary outcomes included discharge rate and efficiency of care. Methods We prospectively recruited a consecutive sample discharged from the Department of Podiatry between 1 May and 1 November 2013 to complete the Client Satisfaction Survey (CSQ-8). This survey was used to evaluate the satisfaction of patients following discharge from the Department of Podiatry. Results There were 49 patients (16 men, 33 women) enrolled in the survey during the 6-month period. Of the 49 patients discharged, 21 (43%) were discharged from the outpatient waiting list. Twenty-eight patients (57%) were referred on to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery for opinion and management. The mean (± s.d.) number of appointments for each patient was 1.3 ± 0.6. Overall, patients were very satisfied with the assessment and/or treatment they received. Conclusion A podiatrist, working at an extended scope of practice and in collaboration with an orthopaedic surgeon, can successfully and efficiently assess and treat patients on an orthopaedic outpatient waiting list. Patients generally reported a high level of satisfaction with the process and would return to the clinic again if necessary. Hospital networks wanting to efficiently reduce waiting lists may endorse task substitution for appropriately skilled podiatrists. What is known about the topic? Allied health professionals have acted in extended scope of practice roles across several professions. These roles are often implemented in response to long waiting lists to see medical specialists. The acceptance of these practitioners by patients and the efficiency of these clinics are yet to be formally evaluated. What does the paper add? This paper should provide confidence in implementing orthopaedic triaging roles for podiatrists. High satisfaction rates were noted, along with an efficient service, both of which may be attractive for hospital networks. What are the implications for practitioners? Extended scope of practice podiatry roles may be implemented to assist in managing orthopaedic outpatient waiting lists.

The model of pension plan trustee decisionmaking introduced in a previous paper is extended here emphasising aspects of the social psychology of investment decisionmaking, including collegiality and the necessity of justification. To give the analysis structure, I begin with the framing logic of Kahneman and Tversky and introduce three different frames structuring decisionmaking, starting with the ‘weapons of influence’, the ‘strategies of justification’, and, finally, the ‘emotions of relationships’. The focus of the paper is on how and why corruption occurs in trustee decisionmaking, especially concerning community development projects. Implications are drawn from the model of corruption for current debate over the proper scope of regulation. It is argued that the current system of trust law and case-by-case adjudication is inadequate in the face of the systematic nature of corruption and the potential harm occasioned by corrupt trustee decisionmaking. It is also argued that the model of corruption sketched in this paper can be applied to a wide range of investment decisions, not just community development projects (the initial reference point for the paper).

Research Aims: This study discusses the practice of green supply chain management (GSCM) on environmental performance and operational costs in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia's food and beverage industry. Especially to examine the existence of ecocentricity and supply chain traceability that moderates GSCM practices with environmental performance and operational costs. Design/Methodology/Approach: The judgement sampling method was used in this study, and 85 respondents contributed. Research questionnaires were distributed online, and data were analysed using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). Research Findings: The results of this study indicate that GSCM practices have a significant relationship to environmental performance and operational costs of MSMEs in the food and beverage industry in Indonesia. Supply chain ecocentricity moderates the relationship between GSCM practices, environmental performance, and operating costs. However, supply chain traceability does not moderate the relationship between GSCM practices, environmental performance, and operational costs. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: The concept and practice of GSCM is gaining popularity in developing countries, but is still limited to the scope of MSMEs. Thus, research on GSCM still has to be extended to MSMEs because most research is limited to large organisations. Managerial Implication in the South East Asian Context: This research covers the concept and practice of GSCM on MSMEs in Indonesia. For MSMEs in the food and beverage industry, this research is expected to be taken into consideration in implementing GSCM for supply chain ecocentricity to improve business performance. Research Limitation & Implications: Respondents are limited to the Java and Bali area and the food and/or beverage industry group.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Act (EEOA) of 1972 extended civil rights coverage to employers with 15–24 employees, while leaving unaffected the civil rights protection for employees of larger firms. In conjunction with pre-existing state fair employment practice (FEP) laws, the EEOA provides a “natural experiment” in which the treatment and control groups are defined by differences across industries in the fraction of workers employed in the newly covered establishments and across states in the scope of the FEP laws. Applying the treatment and control group methodology to Current Population Survey data, the author finds that there were large shifts in the employment and pay practices of the industries most affected by the amendment. The timing of the relative gains and their concentration by industry and region provide evidence that the EEOA had a positive impact on the labor market status of African-Americans.

It is formulated in simply typed λ-calculus extended with names that can be restricted to a lexical scope, tested for equality, explicitly swapped and abstracted. The new recursion principle is motivated by the nominal sets notion of ‘α-structural recursion’, whose use of names and associated freshness side-conditions in recursive definitions formalizes common practice with binders. The new calculus has a simple interpretation in nominal sets equipped with name-restriction operations. It is shown to adequately represent α-structural recursion while avoiding the need to verify freshness side-conditions in definitions and computations. The research scope in concept mapping research can be extended with the investigation of complementary concept mapping approaches, which are visual representations that complement the classical node link diagrams from Novak. To do so, concept mapping researchers can draw inspiration from architects. This article presents four strategies of architects to map concepts. The analysis shows what concept mapping researchers can benefit from architects: first, from the practice of architects to use complementary visualizations, which is investigated in the research field of Knowledge Visualization. Second, from their practice to structure information, which is investigated in the research field of Information Architecture. Both research fields are relevant for concept mapping researchers who investigate new formal approaches that complement the concept mapping approach taken by Novak. Third, the article discusses examples of complementary concept maps in different business situations.

Internationally, vascular access (VA) surgery is delivered in a varied and diverse fashion and subsequently, training in vascular access is poorly defined. Experience of VA during surgical training has implications on future practice. The scope of VA procedures is increasing, yet the focus in vascular training remains largely in the technical aspects of surgery rather than the more comprehensive aspects of surgery applied to dialysis and renal care. To achieve special skills in vascular access surgery may require a change to traditional training with an additional focus on developing an extended portfolio of knowledge and skills. A small number of specialized courses and training facilities are developing to address these issues.

When subtyping was first proposed, it presented a new vehicle for understanding programming languages, together with challenging theoretical issues. The papers in this special issue include a new approach to the decidability of subtyping, a metatheoretic investigation of transitivity of coercive subtyping for parametrised dependent types, and applications of subtyping to the classic programming language concerns of flow analysis and typing for distributed systems. We believe that the scope of the papers demonstrates convincingly that the theory and practice of subtyping continue to be extended in novel and interesting ways.

BackgroundPhysiotherapists are currently working in primary care as first contact practitioners (FCP), assessing and managing patients with musculoskeletal conditions instead of GPs. There are no published data on these types of services.AimTo evaluate a new service presenting the first 2 years of data.Design and settingAnalysis of 2 years’ data of patient outcomes and a patient experience questionnaire from two GP practices in Forth Valley NHS, UK. The service was launched in November 2015 in response to GP shortages.MethodData were collected from every patient contact in the first 2 years. This included outcomes of appointments, GP support, capacity of the service, referral rates to physiotherapy and orthopaedics, numbers of steroid injections, and outcomes from orthopaedic referrals. A patient experience questionnaire was also conducted.ResultsA total of 8417 patient contacts were made, with the majority managed within primary care (n = 7348; 87.3%) and 60.4% (n = 5083) requiring self-management alone. Referrals to orthopaedics were substantially reduced in both practices. Practice A from 1.1 to 0.7 per 1000 patients; practice B from 2.4 to 0.8 per 1000 patients. Of referrals to orthopaedics, 86% were considered ‘appropriate’. Extended scope physiotherapists (ESPs) asked for a GP review in 1% of patients.ConclusionThe results suggest that patients with musculoskeletal conditions may be assessed and managed independently and effectively by physiotherapists instead of GPs. This has the potential to significantly reduce workload for GPs as the service requires minimal GP support. The majority of patients were managed within primary care, with low referral rates and highly appropriate referrals to orthopaedics. Patients reported positive views regarding the service.

In this context, defining useful, business-oriented Competency Frameworks has become an important challenge for many organizations willing to progress along through continuous HRM improvement processes. This paper addresses the major issues underlying this Competency Management unbalance. A new business-oriented approach proposing an alternative, scope extended methodology is outlined in this publication, after field validation and wide acceptance from experts in functional HR management and IT Systems professionals from various large size organizations. Primary healthcare services in Australia need to respond to the needs of an ageing population and the rising prevalence of chronic and complex conditions in that population. This paper reports on the results of a comprehensive Australian and international literature review on nurse-led and nurse-involved primary healthcare interventions with a particular focus on those serving people with chronic and complex conditions and hard to reach populations. The key question this review addresses is: what role can nurses play in primary healthcare to manage people with chronic and complex conditions? International evidence demonstrates that nurses working in primary care provide effective care, have high patient satisfaction and patients are more likely to comply with nurse instructions than general practitioner instructions. Nurses can provide care equivalent to doctors within their scope of practice but have longer consultations. Lifestyle interventions provided by nurses have been shown to be effective for cardiac care, diabetes care, smoking cessation and obesity. The nursing workforce can provide appropriate, cost-effective and high-quality primary healthcare within their scope of practice. What is known about the topic? The prevalence of chronic disease worldwide is increasing due to our lifestyles and ageing populations combined with our extended lifespans. People living in rural and remote areas have higher rates of disease and injury, and poorer access to healthcare. In particular, many older people suffer multiple chronic and complex conditions that require significant clinical management. Nurses are playing increasingly important roles in the delivery of primary healthcare worldwide and international evidence demonstrates that nurses can provide equivalent care to doctors within their scope of practice but have longer consultations. What does this paper add? There is clear international evidence that nurses can play a more significant role in supporting preventive activities and addressing the needs of an ageing population with chronic and complex conditions. In contrast with earlier evidence, recent evidence suggests that nurses may provide the most cost-effective care. What are the implications for practitioners? Adequately prepared nurses can provide a range of effective and cost-effective primary healthcare services in chronic disease management. Studies report that patients are satisfied with nursing care. Nurses should be utilised to their full scope of practice to provide ongoing care to these populations.

In this paper, the authors discuss the decision-making method of the UK Financial Services Ombudsman enabling more favourable outcomes for an insured person in relation to the strict application of law. The authors delineate the manner in which the Ombudsman and the courts act and present specific examples in which the Ombudsman has recognized some rights to the insured whose exercising they themselves did not demand from the insurer. In the practice of the Ombudsman, there are numerous examples in which disputes arose due to a poor understanding of the breadth of the insurance coverage by the insured, the quality and scope of the damage repair service, a restrictive interpretation of the subject of insurance by the insurer. The circumstances on which the Ombudsman made decisions in disputes were based on the standard of a "vulnerable insured person" and a free belief of this body regarding the existence of unfulfilled expectations, which could contribute to the further improvement of the legal framework for the protection of the insured persons.

Background: There has been a demand for radiographers in Zambia to perform intravenous (IV) cannulation and administration of contrast media, a role which, traditionally, was radiologists’. This demand is due to a shortage of radiologists and an increase in demand for imaging examinations. This review aimed at synthesising relevant literature related to IV cannulation and administration of contrast media by radiographers to guide the training and practice in Zambia. Methods: A structured literature search was conducted in three online databases (PubMed/MEDLINE, CINAHL, and ScienceDirect), radiography journals, and cited references to identify research studies on IV cannulation and administration of contrast media by radiographers. Results: Seven studies were identified and included in this review. The findings are summarised under six themes: benefits and challenges, adoption of the extended role, infection control, safety and complications, medico-legal issues, and education and training. Our findings revealed that radiographer-led IV cannulation and administration of contrast media contribute positively to the management of imaging patients. Conclusion: The themes identified in this review could provide a template of where to base the establishment of the training programme and local guidelines. Before extending the role of radiographers, the scope of practice should be extended, and accredited training programme and local guidelines should be put in place. The pre-trial scope has actually been limited by Article 77 of the Criminal Procedure Code. However, the development of the law for the past 5 (five) years has broken through the boundary and preceded the discussion of the Draft Criminal Procedure Code. The expansion of the pre-trial scope, especially regarding the determination of suspects, was started before the Constitutional Court Decision No. 21/PUU-XII/2014 was issued. This research is normative legal research. It utilizes statute approach, conceptual approach and case approach. Based on the statement that the category of legal issues is a vague norm, the analytical instrument used is historical legal interpretation. The results of this study are to expand the pre-trial authority to examine and decide: 1) whether the determination of the suspect is valid; 2) whether the search is valid; dan 3) whether the seizure is valid. In addition, the pre-trial authority in judicial practice is extended to the inability of investigators to conduct investigations to the suspects (the legal subjects).

Most operators are painfully aware that an LNG train turnaround is a time-consuming, complex and expensive undertaking; however, few know why the majority of turnarounds repeatedly overshoot schedules and budgets. The typical turnaround window is planned for 24–28 days, but in reality most take more than 33 days to complete. Why? The answer often is that one cannot plan for the unknown. This typical response masks many inconvenient truths. There are many well-understood reasons for poor turnaround performance, including sub-optimal preparation, limited execution control, silo mentality within the organisation, inaccurate asset data, late inspection reports, and lengthy drawing-update processes. Furthermore, turnaround managers are frustrated by the lack of visibility on progress and the poor quality of information that surfaces when it is too late. Digital Turnaround is a new concept that can significantly improve performance and consists of several elements: asset analytics allowing operators to know the status of the asset data; predictive models to more accurately define scope; mobile management dashboards giving a near real-time view on progress; project systems fully integrated with the emergency response plan; mobile web-based interfaces for contractors to report progress, hours and HSE; and, wi-fi linking the schedule to detailed tracking of equipment, materials and contractors. Digital Turnaround creates new possibilities to execute efficient and safe turnarounds. In this extended abstract the authors share their experience and lessons learned from recent Digital Turnarounds, resulting in the reduction of turnaround durations of more than 10 days, cost reductions of up to 40%, and improved safety performance.

Анотація:

Abstract In recent decades, the scope of terminology research has been extended. The peculiarities and complexities of terminology are further ascertained by the exploration into the practice of terminology translation in the field of humanities and social sciences. The cultural functions that terminology in this research field (H&SS terms) fulfill and the intrinsic difficulties involved in translating them are worth further investigation. This paper based on some reflections of the development of the NUTermBank discusses the legitimacy of terminology translation as independent research and makes an initial attempt to theorize about how the research can be actually carried out. A holistic view of terminology translation is taken and a 3-M research model is proposed in this paper.
