We examine the French market of structured funds under various aspects. In a first part, we study the structured funds’ management fees level. We show that the management fees level varies with management objective: the OBPI funds have higher fees level than the CPPI funds, the fund size and the management company size are negatively related to management fees level, the funds eligible to PEA have higher fees than funds non eligible to PEA and the bank-managed structured funds have lower management fees level than independent management company-managed funds. In a second part, we study the structured funds’ offer. Our results show that the interest rate rise supports the structured funds emission. As for the guarantee type proposed, we show that the increase in CAC 40 volatility and interest rates support more the capital guaranteed funds emission than the unguaranteed capital funds emission. However, the mediatization of poor performances of Benefic funds causes a fall in the unguaranteed capital funds. Then, in a third part, we measure the structured funds’ performance by comparing it to the performances of a CAC 40 investment and a bond investment. Our results show that the structured funds have the weakest performances. In the fourth part, we analyze the investment behavior in structured funds and show that investors are subject to biases like conjunction error, framing effect, representativeness, availability and anchoring
Golisano, Alice. "Les festivals internationaux de théâtre comme médiateurs culturels dans la construction de la cohésion européenne et leur rôle dans Diplomatie culturelle." Electronic Thesis or Diss., CY Cergy Paris Université, 2024. http://www.theses.fr/2024CYUN1275.
For the purpose of my project, I chose to focus on three major European theatre festivals: the Festival d'Avignon, the Belgrade International Theatre Festival (BITEF), and Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS), which represent diverse European cartographies with complex geopolitical and cultural trajectories. The thesis shows how these festivals have been reacting to the historical ferments from postbellum Europe, and how their respective countries' political allegiances and cultural politics have affected their curatorial approaches. I intended to explore how the stakeholders of my case studies engaged in actions and decisions from the field of cultural diplomacy, and how these efforts allowed the festivals to develop as political actors by means of the performing arts. This study has developed a new theoretical framework for looking at theatre festivals not only as outlets for new artistic trends, but as cultural manifestations connected with one another through their engagement with historical circumstances that have been impacting them. As this thesis argues, cultural diplomacy is not a practice set in stone. It is malleable, it can be shaped in many forms and it can be employed in a wide range of modalities and situations. Each and every one of my case studies has been exercising some degree of cultural diplomacy and diversifying their methods according to their needs and those of their times. What this dissertation concludes, is that however minuscule limited realities these festivals might look on the global map, they are still agent of changes. By constantly challenging themselves, adapting to the changing of events, and considering their yearly limited spacetime of existence, they had been making an immense impact on their local and international communities since their establishment

A large number of studies have dealt with the relationship between planning and firm's performance in the area of national activities. However, little empirical research has focused on this topic in the area of export concerning small and medium-sized manufacturing firms in particular. The objective of this research is to examine the relationship between export plan sophistication and export performance of small and medium-sized manufacturing firms. It is also to highlight the influence of firm and decision maker's characteristics on export plan sophistication, to evaluate the impact of export plan sophistication among other determinants of export performance. Based first on the literature about the determinants of export performance and about planning and research in strategic management, second on interviews with smf managers and, we propose and test a model. The tests use regression analysis and simultaneous equations procedure on a sample of 220 small and medium-sized manufacturing firms selected from the + connexion ; database. The results show that export plan sophistication, in particular its operational dimension, is positively and significantly related to export/sales ratio and export growth intensity. It is also clear that export plan sophistication is more dependent on decision maker's characteristics (information level and educational background) than on firm's characteristics (export organization). Moreover the operational dimension of export plan together with firm's characteristics (export organization) play a major role in export performance achieved by firms

In this thesis, we focused, mainly, on the performance measures. We propose then a study of the most useful performance measures used by von neumann rational investors. The first chapter of the first part reviews the main stock return processes hypothesis. Nevertheless, none of these matches the empirical stylized facts. We propose in the second chapter an empirical study of Paris stock market high frequency returns in a volume time scale. It is shown that returns, measured in this particular time scale, can be found homoskedastic and normal. The third and fourth chapters explained the rationality of using chartism forecasting methods and try to evaluate and explain the technical analysis puzzle on the exchange rate market. The first, second and third chapter of the second part of this thesis are surveys of the main performance measures. The first one reviews the performance measures relative to capital asset pricing models (CAPM and MEA) and the second one reminds the main measures which do not depend upon any pricing model. The third chapter allows to compare the measures and gives the conclusions of the main portfolio performance measure empirical studies. Finally, we propose, in the fourth and last chapter, two new measures : one is relative to funds and is a generalized sharpe measure in the case of non- perfect financial markets; the other one concerns financial assets and is a generalized treynor measure which can be applied when several risk sources exist

Thesis, Rennes 2, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016REN20013.
This thesis focuses on the transactive memory model (Wegner, 1985), a form of socially shared memory that influences collective performance through specialization, tacit coordination and trust or credibility in the partner’s skills. A review of the literature leads to several observations. First, little research has been conducted on transactive memory in couples. Second, research has overlooked the levels of positional and ideological explanation, focusing primarily on intra- and inter-individual explanations. Finally, the effects of cultural diversity on transactive memory, linked to the composition of couples and dyads and/or the collaborative task have not been studied. The aim of the thesis is to study the effects of the cultural composition of couples (and "artificial" dyads) and a culturally marked collaborative task on the transactive memory system. Couples (and dyads) were composed of individuals with either the same or different cultural backgrounds (French and/or Moroccan). The task was a "Memory" game using cards with Moroccan and French cultural images. Video observations of the participants’ behavior, recall of cards, and questionnaires were combined to investigate the cultural regulation oftransactive memory. The first study examined the effects of the composition of couples on transactive memory and found that performance on the "Memory" game was better in bi-cultural than in mono-cultural couples, but only with French culturally marked cards. The second study examined this form of memory in mono- or bi-cultural "artificial" dyads. It was assumed that the partners’ skills for the task could be inferred from the cultural characteristics of the situation. The results indicate that the performance of the bi-cultural dyads was poorer than that of the mono-cultural dyads, while the reverse was observed for perceived specialization. This result suggests that an "illusory" transactive memory was involved in bi-cultural dyads by inferring cultural skills based on cultural characteristics. The third study shows that prior collective training had a positive effect on the performance of bicultural dyads, but only when the French cultural cards were used as the medium. Taken together, the results of these studies suggest that transactive memory in couples and dyads could be regulated by cultural factors

New products are known to be critical for the growth and the long run success of most industrial firms. What is less clear is how firms, especially sme, should manage the flow of the successive new products. This research investigates, through an exploratory retrospective longitudinal survey, the dynamic feature of new product s program strategies in 18 french high-tech smes, so as to identify first the evolution and the various trajectories of new products strategies sinse the firms'creation. Secondly, the purpose is to examine the influence of the innovativeness and the diversity of the new products programs upon financial performance, through diverse periods of analysis

One of the most striking facts of the history of the financial system is the process of liberalization begun since 1994. A reform of such a dimension is not fortuitous. It aims mainly at the security (by a better treatment of the risk) and a fairer competition (by a bigger transparency). The objective of this work is to test the impact of this movement on the performance of the Tunisian deposit banks. Indeed, it is allowed to wonder if the intensification of the competition limits the increase of the banking performances in terms of business volume, profitability or value creation. Besides, are growth, value creation, financial profitability and solvency compatible objectives within this new space? What strategies did banks implement to adapt ?This thesis examines the measures of performance the most adapted to the Tunisian banks, shows the impact of these reforms on these indicators, analyzes groups of banks that excel at one or some of the categories of performance, and, finally, tracks down the new strategies which stand out from this vast process of development, yet, not totally finished

Combined theoretical and chemoinformatics studies are presented in the field of enantioselective recognition. Several approaches are used such as molecular modeling, DFT calculations, molecular dynamics, QSAR techniques and other data mining procedures. The focus is the establishment of connections between available experimental data and these diverse algorithms based on the mathematical and topological description of chiral molecules. The outcomes of the aforementioned calculations account for a use of these techniques as a core strategy to achieve reliable prediction systems, infer the mechanisms of chiral recognition, generate new lead chiral receptors and assist experimental techniques such as chiral liquid chromatography. Moreover, computational methods promise to have a wide range of applications for both academia and industries, ranging from enantioselective reactions to analytical and semi-preparative separations or large-scale, production of enantiopure compounds

We investigate how social and environmental responsibilities can be considered in the strategic decision-making processes of corporations. This doctoral research is based on three empirical papers, providing evidence for individual and organizational drivers of corporate social performance. We consider corporate social performance as a triple performance of corporations: economic, social and environmental. Corporate social performance measures the level of corporate social responsibility (CSR), which corresponds to the contribution of corporations to a sustainable development. For the first paper, we question in France180 financial and 144 non-financial managers, and 83 students in finance and 117 students in other majors than finance. Our investigations provide an overview of how financial managers perceive the importance of sustainability for corporate strategy. The second paper is based on the study of 286 companies of the STOXX Europe 600 Index of years 2007 to 2010. The results of this cross-cultural study are expected to contribute to a better understanding of when there is a need for the presence of a board CSR committee. In the third paper we use firm-level data of year 2012 from the Bloomberg World Index of 178 companies having created a board CSR committee. The results of this last study offer ways to ensure a suitable composition of this committee

In Leclerc et al. (2015, Genetic Epidemiology, 39 (6), 406-414), an association test between a group of genetic variants and censored phenotypes in presence of intrafamilial correlation is proposed. This test was implemented in a R package named gyriq. In this master’s thesis,we evaluate, with simulations, the performance of this test in presence of a sampling bias which stems from the data collection protocol. Indeed, in many situations, medical data from a family are considered if and only if a particular member of this family, called proband, is diagnosed with the event of interest during his medical exam. We develop multiple strategies to generate biased data according to such data collection protocol. We examine type 1 error and power of the association test in presence of such data, in the cases where there are 1 or more probands and when we sample only families where the probands have the event of interest or when we also sample a small proportion of families where the event has not occured for the probands. We conclude that the association test remains valid in presence of a selection bias but that the test power is diminished. Furthermore, the test is not valid when we include families where the event of interest has not occured for the probands.

The study of the development of ESG performance in Lebanese SMEs proves its importance in the fact that these companies are looking for sustainable solutions to deal with the different political crises and their significant repercussions on the country’s economy. Our research is committed to highlight via a qualitative exploratory study of four Lebanese SMEs if these companies are aware of the ESG performance criteria, underline the role of managers, stakeholders, and the adoption of ESG standards in promoting responsible practices. Lebanese SMEs are often neophytes’ grounds for CSR. Their main challenges include improving their economic and financial performance and especially their survival. The ESG commitment of Lebanese SMEs is mainly justified by the manager’s beliefs and values, the improvement of economic and financial performance and sometimes by the adoption of ESG standards. There are many brakes especially the lack of financial resources mainly due to economic and political crisis

To adapt to ever more frequent disruptions in their environment, incumbent firms resort increasingly to Business Model Innovation. Our study seeks to identify the success factors of BMI process and the new business model performance. To that end, we performed two analysis on 35 cases, using the Qualitative Comparative Analysis method, which allows configurational study of factors identified both from our literature review and our cases study. The first studied focuses on the success of Business Model Innovation process, that is the implementation of a new business model in the firm; the second study focuses on the performance of said new business model. A third analysis focuses specifically on the failure cases regarding new business model performance. From these analysis, we identified several causal configurations, which allowed to take into account the complexity and diversity of contexts and processes of BMI.Our analyses highlighted three main results. The first is that internal stakeholders commitment (leaders, employees and shareholders) is essential to the success of BMI and the performance of the new business model. The second result shows that an incremental BMI is easier to execute (and thus to achieve), it brings a higher risk of counter-performance for the new business model. The third result shows that conducting a reactive BMI, which means that the BMI is a response to an imminent threat on the industry and its dominant business model, brings a significative risk of failure for the new business model. Our results allow us to clarify and nuance the existing literature on BMI, but also to communicate to incumbent firms a set of choices to lead their own BMI to the best outcome possible. Our work also highlight the potential of the QCA method, which is yet seldom employed in the management field

This thesis deals with the determination of ownership structure and the link between ownership structure and firms' performance. We analyse the market's reaction to a change in ownership concentration. Our results highlight a non-monotonic relationship between ownership concentration and firm's performance. In addition, firm's characteristics and environment's characteristics affect the choice of the ownership structure. Moreover, we study interactions between ownership structure, legal system, competences of control and firm's performance. Our results show that the quality of the legal protection affects the distribution of property rights among large shareholders. Finally, complementarity of control competences is a beneficial for the firm, but only for some combinations of shareholders' identities

The objective of this research is to determine the nature of the relationship between internationalization and performance (RIP) of firm, subject debated for forty years without conclusive response. To achieve this, we develop a three-dimensional approach with two phases : analytical and interactive analysis. In the first, we focus on the degree of internationalization and the individual impact of each dimension of internationalization to determine the nature of the "parts" of the RIP. In the second, we focus on the process of internationalization and the interactive impact of three dimensions - breadth, depth, dispersion - of internationalization to determine the nature of the "whole" of the RIP. This research, based on a sample of 69 French international enterprises over the period 2001-2007, clarifies the nature of the RIP by providing the following new empirical and theoretical elements: (i) Each dimension of internationalization maintains a curvilinear and three-stage relationship with performance; (ii) The nature of the RIP is mainly governed by the nature of the relationship between the depth of internationalization and performance, thus being curvilinear, with three phases and forming a horizontal S; (iii) The horizontal S-curve relationship between internationalization and performance is moderated by the breadth and the dispersion of internationalization; (iv) The process of internationalization explain firm performance better than the degree of internationalization

During the last two decades, changes have been affected the development of financial intermediation due to the increase of catastrophic risks, especially those relating to the insurance and reinsurance areas. This dissertation focuses on European insurance and reinsurance markets, and provides an assessment of their performance following major risks, in particular big natural and technological disasters. Each chapter provides an analysis of the impact of extreme disasters on the performance of European insurers, testing the tenacity of their loss ratio on one hand (Chapter 1) and studying the variability of their stock returns in the other hand (chapter 2). This study will be extended to conduct an international comparison with American and Japonese insurance markets (Chapter 3). For each market, the role of regulation will be transversally analyzed

Statistical process control methods, such as the CUSUM test, for the industry have been transposed from the industry to medicine to monitor the performance of physicians. In this work, we first present a review of the existing literature of the use of the tCUSUM in interventional and surgical procedures and propose numerous applications with the objective to improve quality. These applications allowed us to better understand the practical interest of the CUSUM test and its limits. Foremost, this test should be used in a prospective setting with participation of ail physicians. In a second part we propose a new test, the LC-CUSUM test, to monitor a process from an out of control to an in control state; this test has specific application to the learning curve. We present the Statistical basis and few applications of this new test. In conclusion, the CUSUM test is useful in monitoring the quality of surgical and interventional procedures but only if used in the more general setting of quality improvement. The LC-CUSUM test is useful in monitoring the learning curve of surgical trainees

This research work aims to identify the relationship between the performance of an organization, its system of management as well as the institutional framework of the economy. Through a good airing of the managerial literature in report with our problem of research, we have seen the dominant effect of the institutional framework on the performance of the enterprise and that the latter imposed to leaders the adoption of management systems capable of providing for the survival of the company a minimum of reactivity and vigilance over the complexity, uncertainty and the perpetual change to the environment which means that the management system is a by-product of the institutional framework of the economy. Empirically, through a comparative study France-Tunisia, we have seen that the relative share of the institutional framework for the assessment of the performance of the Tunisian company, predominantly important, is the result of numerous and profound transformations and restructuring by which the country has crossed to see its economy as qualified emerging. As regards France, we thought it was obvious that the crisis that has shaken the economy lighthouse in Europe will certainly affect the performance of the French company, sometimes unable to overcome this cape, which has required the intervention of the government through the policies of recovery and regulating adequate. That is why even the supremacy of the effect exerted by the institutional framework of the economy on the performance of the French company

The objective of this dissertation is to examine, under a sociological lens, the new practice of the corporate sustainability performance measurement. This emerging practice seems to be a social space where are structured various games of power, confrontation and resistance of many actors involved in the field of sustainable development. The first paper assumes that discourse analysis, socially constructed and constituted, surrounding measurements produced and disclosed (often highly popularized through the media), plays a fundamental role in the understanding of the practice of corporate sustainability performance measurement. In particular, the discourse transmitted by the sustainability ratings and rankings agencies (SRRA), both on their websites and in their public documents, tends to promote an ideology of numbers that exerts disciplinary power over companies appraised. Despite all the ambiguities and methodological uncertainties associated with the practice of socio-environmental performance measurement, SRRA strive to develop and transmit discourse, quite reductive, to legitimize their claim to expertise in the field. The second paper of this dissertation outlines the legitimation strategies deployed by SRRA and the disciplinary impacts of these strategies on companies scrutinized and stakeholders. Actually, it is the disciplinary power and the normalization power of the ideology of numbers which can induce some effects of self-discipline in the field of sustainable development in general. Such self-discipline is also observed in the academic world when corporate gate-keepers put pressure on researchers to abandon the publication of their research. As a methodological study, the third paper of the dissertation seeks to stimulate reflection on the impediments that the power of the corporate gate-keepers can pose on the independence and the freedom of the researchers and the universities to which they are attached, especially in the case of threats of lawsuits

The main purpose of this study was undertaken in order to provide a comprehensivepicture of the effective entrepreneurial leadership style in Homestay community-based tourism(CBT) for sustainable performance by using the good-performance of Homestay CBT inThailand with has the operation toward to sustainable development. The case study strategies, which is one of the strategies in the qualitative research methodology was used. Data werecollected from multiple sources: documentary evidence, participant observation, and interviewswith the leader and people in three communities. The main finding of this study showed that todevelop the effective entrepreneurial leadership for sustainable performance, theentrepreneurial leadership needs three principles; Cognitive ambidexterity, SEERS (social, environmental, and economic responsibility and sustainability), and self-and social awarenessas the principle of Greenberg et al. (2011). However, in Cognitive ambidexterity aspect couldsubstitute by using the effective consultant teams. Besides, those of personality characteristicsare able to develop for sustainable communities

Improving decision performance (DP) is a challenge for all managers, regardless of the industry in which they work. This challenge is even more important in the current business environment where decisions become more complex, less structured, and increasingly based on organizational knowledge. Although KM is underlined for his contribution to the PD, recent research indicates the relationship between these two concepts needs more investigation in order to be better exploited in the management of organizations. To fill this gap, the objective of this thesis was to investigate the contribution of a multidimensional approach of KM to better support DP. Our approach considers factors from organizational, technological and human dimensions, and a culture that recognizes the value of knowledge. These dimensions of KM are mentioned in the literature, and are often investigated separately. However, in this thesis we pay special attention to interaction effects between them, to provide a holistic perspective in a real context. We conducted an action research in a company in the forestry sector; particularly we studied planning and forecasting of forest operations processes. This fieldwork provided rich data and interesting results, as well as highliighting problems that can be found in other sectors. Our results provide a deeper understanding and a holistic view of the KM based on a multidimensional approach to better support DP within organizations. Our results show that organizational, technological and cultural dimensions of the KM are all important and are deeply interrelated. We put in place mechanisms and initiatives that allowed us to validate this empirically. The approach used in the context of our action research can be exploited in other companies that seek to improve the DP, whether the forestry sector or elsewhere. Key words: Knowledge management; Decision performance; Multidimensional approach of KM; Action research; Knowledge mapping; Business process mapping; Forestry operations; Wood supply network.

Social learning improves the performance not only in humans and non-human primates, but in a host of animal species as well. In monkeys, the neuronal correlates of individual learning are well understood, but those of social learning are lacking partly because it has been addressed, so far, in conditions not compatible with neuronal recordings. Do monkeys learn by observation under the constraining conditions of electrophysiology? Is social learning mediated by the same brain circuits and mechanisms as individual, reinforcement based learning? This work addressed these two timely questions. Our findings showed that monkeys learn faster from the model’s experience than from their own experience, and that they benefit more from observed errors than from successes. Neuronal processing of observed errors in the prefrontal cortex parallels this behavioral result. We suggest that associative learning, whether based on individual or others’ experience, involves the same brain networks including prefrontal cortex, and is probably mediated by the same neuronal mechanisms of error prediction during reinforcement-based learning

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has emerged as an alternative to surgery for patients with severe aortic stenosis and high surgical risk. This technique is extending to a wider population (e.g. with more complex anatomy or lower surgical risk), as well as to patients with degenerated surgical bioprostheses (BPs). However, two major concerns remain limiting. Regarding “classical TAVI”, periprosthetic leaks have been associated with increased mortality. Oversizing is used to secure the device within the aortic annulus which is often non circular. The effects of oversizing and annulus shape on the hemodynamic performance are unknown. Regarding ViV implantations, elevated post-procedural gradients are common and have been associated with increased mortality. The principal factors associated with this residual stenosis as well as with increased risk of mortality, have been BPs label size ≤ 21 mm and mode of failure by stenosis. These factors are not specific enough and there is currently no recommendation for the treatment of small BPs. Besides, the actual hemodynamic benefit associated with ViV has not been evaluated (vs. pre ViV status). The general objective of this work is to understand the interactions between the transcatheter prosthesis and the aortic annulus or the BP to be treated, which impact the hemodynamic performance, especially in complex conditions of implantation, in order to extend the indications of TAVI. In the context of ViV, the objective is to specify the factors associated with the hemodynamic performance and utility of the treatment. The final aim is to provide strategies of implantation in order to optimize the success of the procedure

This thesis aims to identify psychological processes involved in the upward mobility process. More specifically, we tested in what extent mobility process experienced by lower-class students can lead them to adopt performance-avoidance goals (i.e., fear of failure), which may subsequently negatively impact their performances. In the first study, the link between performance-avoidance goals and performances was tested among lower and higher-class students. The results showed that the adoption of performance-avoidance goals negatively predicted performance of lower-class students (not that of higher-class students) and particuarly if they had good academic results (i.e., more likely to live a mobility experience). The purpose of the second study was to test the role of mobility process as a mediator of the link between social class and the adoption of performance-avoidance goals among lower and higher-class students. The results of this study showed that it is because lower-class students experience upward mobility that they adopt more performance-avoidance goals than their higher-class counterparts. Finally, in the 3 latest studies (studies 3a, 3b and 3c), we tested the impact of mobility process on the adoption of performance-avoidance goals and of high school students’ performances. The results of study 3a showed that within lower-class high school students, the salience of the mobility process increased the adoption of performance-avoidance goals and reduced performances in Mathematics. Moreover, performance-avoidance goals seem to be a mediator of the interaction between social class and salience of the mobility process on mathematics performances, although this effect is not replicated in studies 3b and 3c. The results of the meta-analysis carried out on these last three studies, tend to confirm this assumption. Overall, these results highlight that fear of mobility process would be a mechanism behind the difficulties faced by high school students/students of low social class in academic context to explain, then, their least performances

Under pressure of competition, information activities and knowledge management are being required to justify their efficiency, productivity or spending. Appears Knowledge Management System Governance (KMSG) to ensure this monitoring activity on the KM. The objective of this doctoral work is to answer the research question by explaining the KMS governance and its impact. Specifically, our study focuses on the impact of KMS on firm performance and intends to present an explanatory framework for studying this. Thus, the testing of our model empirically was done by the administration of questionnaire on the Internet using a sample of 754 companies. After collecting the responses, we had 393 companies in our database (in MySQL); they were reused in an exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis to validate our various hypotheses. As results we have confirmed that there is significant impact of KMS governance on performance companies, even if some assumptions about the contingency factors of KMS were rejected. This work also presented a set of managerial implications and recommendations for better management KMSG activity

This study is more grounded on industrial risk management, being this field a meaningful part of organizational reliability, than on analyses focused on vulnerable aspects of organizations at risk. The innovative aspect of this shift stems from the capacity to reconcile economic performance and safety issues. Henceforth, it will be necessary to both identify and understand the mechanisms and devices that facilitate the joint analysis of these a priori contradictory logics. Indeed, our empirical corpus shows that inter-organizational coordination devices and social agreement mechanisms have positive effects on both perspectives on organizational reliability. Vertically integrated companies major changes since 1980s produced networked organizations and contributed to the evolution of risk management. On the other hand, the actors concerned with the activities of organizations at risk mobilize and demand participation in the risk management process. Despite the evident causal link connecting inter-organizational coordination devices and organizational reliability, there is no clear evidence relating social agreement mechanisms to the aforementioned reliability (taking into account its embryonic development). Nevertheless, this kind of device analysis can arouse suspiction as regards their potentialities in terms of organizational reliability. In sum, our study paves its way toward reconciling the theoretical approaches of risk management (NAT and HRO) as well as economic performance and safety. By adopting an organizational perspective with a strong empirical anchoring, we would be able to better comprehend the peculiarities of the current governance of the industrial risks

During the 90s, the concept of gender related to the cultural context of the body hardly had a place in the intellectual sphere. Did this concept spread itself more easily in the field of performance? From the 70s onward and right after the impulse given by 68 movements, the body took an important protest role in the creative process, in particular regarding gender deconstruction: that is the development of body art. Several artists tried through this medium to find a Body fundament which could bring an answer to cultural issues related to sexual differences. Later in the 80s, performance art became less subversive. The global political environment was changing and the body was more visible especially on screens. Two mains positions emerged among French artists: one focused more on words and an immaterial approach and the other using technology and media to explore the body. In both cases, the relationship between the artist and the deviant bodies that they used is far from clear. The “minority bodies” were more to be found in the militant and activist sphere. In the 90s, arguments about topics to do with secularism and the alarming raise of HIV would finally push the performers to reconsider the political dimension of gender and identity questions. Therefore, in this last decade, the concept of gender found its legitimacy in the artistic field even though the relationship between creative process and political activism still seems problematic and not that active
