In this paper, we discuss a new approach to the analysis of multi/hyper-spectral data sets, based on the Interesting Features Finder (IFF) method. The IFF is a simple algorithm recently proposed in the framework of Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) spectral analysis for detecting ‘interesting’ spectral features independently of the variance they represent in a set of spectra. To test the usefulness of this method to multispectral analysis, we show in this paper the results of its application on the recovery of a ‘lost’ painting from the Etruscan hypogeal tomb of the Volumni (3rd century BCE—1st century CE) in Perugia, Italy. The results obtained applying the IFF algorithm are compared with the results obtained by applying Blind Source Separation (BSS) techniques and Self-Organized Maps (SOM) to a multispectral set of 17 fluorescence and reflection images. From this comparison emerges the possibility of using the IFF algorithm to obtain rapidly and simultaneously, by varying a single parameter in a range from 0 to 1, several sets of elaborated images all containing the ‘interesting’ features and carrying information comparable to what could have been obtained by BSS and SOM, respectively.

Abstract Transmission muography is a non-invasive imaging technique that exploits the penetrating power of atmospheric muons into matter to obtain two-dimensional and three-dimensional density images of the monitored structure. The detectors used are particle trackers. Muography enables the monitoring of large structures and it is also particularly useful in the archaeological field for a mapping of low-density underground anomalies potentially related to unknown or inaccessible tombs or tunnels. The Palazzone necropolis, located south of Perugia (Italy), dating back to Etruscan period, contains about 200 known tombs, some of which, such as the Volumni Hypogeum, can be visited thanks to a touristic route. The eastern area of the necropolis, on the other hand, does not have a touristic path and is partially unknown. The objective of the muographic measurement campaign is to support the re-evaluation of this archaeological area by searching for new anthropic cavities and identifying them three-dimensionally. One of the goals of this study is to obtain a three-dimensional localization of cavities starting from a single muographic measurement by exploiting an image focusing algorithm. For this purpose, an area that contains a known cavity was used as the reference cavity for the test of the three-dimensional reconstruction algorithm.

IntroductionSuicide is the fourth leading cause of death among adolescents and young adults (AYA) (Czyz EK, King CA. J Clin Child Adolesc Psychol.2015;44(1):181-19), and psychiatric disorders are a major contributing factor (WHO Global Health Estimates 2000-2019). Studies focusing on suicidality in Italian inpatients samples are scant.ObjectivesThe present cross-sectional study aimed to define clinical variables associated with suicidality related phenomena in a sample of young inpatients. The main objectives were to assess the prevalence of suicidal ideation and deliberate self-harm in inpatients aged 16–24 years and to determine the relationship between suicidal behaviours and psychiatric disorders.MethodsThis retrospective study was conducted in a naturalistic setting, at the Psychiatric Inpatient Unit, Perugia Hospital/Local Mental Health Unit 1, from January 2018 to December 2019. Sociodemographic information, clinical history, diagnostic and treatment features were collected. Descriptive and bivariate analyses were performed (p<0,05).ResultsAmong 120 patients (14,2% of the overall 850 hospitalizations in the index period) admitted for suicidality-related phenomena, 21 (17,5%) were AYA. Admission was due to deliberate self-harm in 85,7% (n=18) and to suicidal ideation in 14,3% (n=3) cases. Personality disorders (p=0.006), were significantly more prevalent among AYA, while mood disorders were more frequent among adults (p=0.0018) (Tab.1).Tab.1.Differences in diagnostic features between AYA and adult population.AYAn (%)Adultsn (%)χ2PPERSONALITY DISORDERS10 (47.6)17 (17,2)7.5470.006Borderline personality disorder7 (33.3)9 (9.1)6.8380.009MOOD DISORDERS0 (0)26 (26,3)5.5780.018ConclusionsPersonality is under construction among youths, and affective symptoms may have unusual characteristics (Lack CW, Green AL. J Pediatr Nurs. 2009;24(1):13-25), as demonstrated by the fact that irritable rather than depressed mood is a core diagnostic mood symptom for adolescents (Rice F, et al. J Affect Disord. 2019;243:175-181). We hypothesized that symptoms of irritability, emotional dysregulation, and impulsivity could be linked to suicidality (Ghanem M, et al. Arch Suicide Res. 2013;17(3):262-274). Further investigations are needed for the characterization of AYA inpatients who experience suicidal thoughts or self-injurious behaviours, in order to redefine preventive tools and reduce suicide mortality rates.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared

AbstractUrban geology analyses natural risks and promotes geoheritage in urban areas. In the cities, characterized by a high cultural value, the hypogean artificial cavities, often present in the downtown, offer a unique opportunity to show the geological substratum. Moreover, these places could be a point of interest in urban trekking with the abiotic component of the landscape as a topic (geotourism). To investigate these areas, rigorous bibliographic research and a geomorphological assessment are the first steps, but, besides, non-invasive methods are new techniques increasingly in demand. In this paper, we present a multidisciplinary study on the Etruscan Well (third century B.C.), one of the most important Etruscan artefacts in Perugia (Umbria region, Central Italy). The characteristics of the sedimentary deposits outcropping along the perimeter walls have been collected. Moreover, to show the underground geoheritage, we provide a 3D model of the well and the surrounding area integrating a georeferenced laser scanner survey with ground-penetrating radar prospecting. We aim to obtain a tridimensional mapping of accessible internal rooms to depict the geological characteristics of the Etruscan Well, also revealing a surrounding network of buried galleries. The results are not only a meaningful advancement in the archaeological, geological and historical knowledge of the downtown of Perugia but are a hint for the geoheritage promotion and dissemination, providing images and 3D reconstruction of underground areas.
