Three high-entropy Sm(Eu,Gd)Cr0.2Mn0.2Fe0.2Co0.2Ni0.2O3 perovskite solid solutions were synthesized using the usual ceramic technology. The XRD investigation at room temperature established a single-phase perovskite product. The Rietveld refinement with the FullProf computer program in the frame of the orthorhombic Pnma (No 62) space group was realized. Along with a decrease in the V unit cell volume from ~224.33 Å3 for the Sm-based sample down to ~221.52 Å3 for the Gd-based sample, an opposite tendency was observed for the unit cell parameters as the ordinal number of the rare-earth cation increased. The average grain size was in the range of 5–8 μm. Field magnetization was measured up to 30 kOe at 50 K and 300 K. The law of approach to saturation was used to determine the Ms spontaneous magnetization that nonlinearly increased from ~1.89 emu/g (Sm) up to ~17.49 emu/g (Gd) and from ~0.59 emu/g (Sm) up to ~3.16 emu/g (Gd) at 50 K and 300 K, respectively. The Mr residual magnetization and Hc coercive force were also determined, while the SQR loop squareness, k magnetic crystallographic anisotropy coefficient, and Ha anisotropy field were calculated. Temperature magnetization was measured in a field of 30 kOe. ZFC and FC magnetization curves were fixed in a field of 100 Oe. It was discovered that the Tmo magnetic ordering temperature downward-curve decreased from ~137.98 K (Sm) down to ~133.99 K (Gd). The spin glass state with ferromagnetic nanoinclusions for all the samples was observed. The <D> average and Dmax maximum diameter of ferromagnetic nanoinclusions were calculated and they were in the range of 40–50 nm and 160–180 nm, respectively. The mechanism of magnetic state formation is discussed in terms of the effects of the A-site cation size and B-site poly-substitution on the indirect superexchange interactions.

Systematic studies of treatment options for femoral head osteonecrosis have been hindered by the lack of an animal model that mimics the human event of femoral head collapse. The (bipedal) emu model of osteonecrosis has proven to progress to collapse following an external insult. Since osteonecrosis clinically has multiple etiologies, various alternatives are seemingly appropriate to initiate lesions for research purposes. This study compared osteonecrosis initiated by a local cryoinsult, to that initiated by a large systemic dose of steroid (methylprednisolone acetate), and by a combination of steroid and cryoinsult. One year post-insult, the animals were sacrificed and their femoral heads harvested. A custom-written computer program was used to expedite analysis of the global distribution of histologically apparent osteonecrosis, as determined by the Ficat scale. Following whole-head analysis, grade distributions were calculated, and a measure of spatial clustering of histologic abnormality was calculated using Moran's I statistic. Normal femoral heads showed very small amounts of histological abnormality, and no significant spatial clustering. Femoral heads receiving isolated cryoinsult had a greater incidence of high-grade abnormality, as well as statistically significant spatial clustering of that abnormality. Steroid-only animals had a higher percentage of diffuse, low-grade abnormality. The group receiving both steroid and cryoinsult showed the highest overall abnormality, with statistically significant clustering of that high-grade abnormality. Cryoinsult, both in isolation and in combination with a steroid regimen, appeared necessary to mimic the clinically typical focal lesions of osteonecrosis.

AbstractA simple, practical search/match program, RIFRAN 85, has been written and implemented for the EMG 666B programmable calculator. The computer programs are written in EMG Assembler, which is identical to the assembler language for the Hewlett-Packard 9821 calculator. The EMG 666B is made in Hungary and has 8 kbytes of operational memory. The programs interactively provide qualitative phase analysis of X-ray powder diffraction patterns using standard files collected from published data and stored on a compact magnetic tape cassette. Each standard pattern can comprise up to 35 two-theta — intensity pairs. The identification procedure is based on the comparison of the diffraction data of the standard and of the unknown within limits imposed by user-established match and chemical criteria. This paper describes the algorithm used and the performance of the RIFRAN 85 identification system. The system's operation is illustrated using an example of phase analysis of a mineral sample.

Abstract Computer Programming Learners usually fail to get approved in introductory courses because solving problems using computers is a complex task. The most important reason for that failure is concerned with motivation; motivation strongly impacts on the learning process. In this paper we discuss how techniques like program animation, and automatic evaluation can be combined to help the teacher in Computer Programming courses. In the article, PEP system will be introduced to explain how it supports teachers in classroom and how it engages students on study sessions outside the classroom. To support that work, students’ motivation was studied; to complement that study, a survey involving students attending the first year of Algorithms and Programming course of an Engineering degree was done. It is also presented a tool to analyse surveys, using association rules.

A non-hardware method for computer control of the geometric parameters of a twisted thread using a two-dimensional Fourier transform program of its computer image is proposed. First, the program calculates the diffraction pattern from the investigated image of the thread. Then, the same program builds a diffraction pattern from the image of the first pattern, which does not contain speckles in the proposed method. This makes it possible to carry out its automatic computer analysis with the output to the digital values ​​of the calculated parameters. The effectiveness of the method is illustrated on model and industrial samples of synthetic threads.

This device has designed digital input signal acquisition module, the output switch signal module, power supply module and fault simulation module based on CAN bus communication principle. Then we use LabVIEW developing computer program in order to monitor and control the whole system.

Medical students and physicians need to improve their understanding of the role of nutrition and the multidisciplinary team in diabetes care. To assist in this learning, an interactive computer program was cleveloped that focused on prescribing diets for patients with diabetes. Parallel 10-item knowledge tests and an 8-item self-efficacy scale were used to evaluate the efficacy of the computer program among 41 third-year medical students. Mean knowledge scores increased significantly after using the computer program. Posttest knowledge scores for the medical students approached the level achieved by general practice dietitians with no diabetes specialty training. Mean self-efficacy scores increased significantly. The mean time spent on the educational component of the program was under 30 minutes. Computer-assisted diabetes nutrition education proved to be an efficient and effective method for teaching basic nutrition competencies to medical students. This program is available on the World Wide Web (http://medicine.aecom.yu. edu/ diabetes/DEC.htm) and may be a useful means for providing basic diabetes nutrition education to primary healthcare providers from a variety of disciplines as well as for medical students.

Thermal conductivity of L-J potential solid argon nano-films is calculated by equilibrium molecular dynamics (EMD) and nonequilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD) simulations in the temperature range from 30K to 80K. A LAMMPS computer program has been modified based on classical molecular dynamics. It can be directly used to calculate the thermal conductivity of nano-films in the direction perpendicular to the film plane. Thermal conductivity calculated from this program is compared with experimental data. It is found that this computer program is competent to calculate the thermal conductivity of solid nano-films. It is also found that thermal conductivity is dependent on the simulation temperature and film thickness.

In this study, equal strength cantilever and simply supported beams made of functionally graded material (FGM) whose material properties vary though the height direction were investigated. These equal strength cantilever FGM beams were loaded with uniformly distributed load and a point load at the tip and simply supported FGM beams were loaded with uniformly distributed loads. They have all variable cross-section and straight axis. For calculating equivalent material properties of FGMs, power law distribution and Mori-Tanaka model were used. A computer program was developed for the analysis of the problem. The dimensionless deflection values for cantilever beams and simply supported beams were obtained for different materials by the help of developed computer program. Obtained results are presented in the form of tables and graphs which may be useful for the researchers.

Today, while transportation is constantly moving forward, costs are increasing. The aim is to obtain light structures that are suitable in terms of weight, sufficient in strength, and to save materials and energy. Axles are not only used in transport vehicles, but also in buses, automobiles and forklifts. Axles must be of a reliable structure due to their place of use. The external effects that the axles are generally exposed to are the applied loads. In this study, the mechanical damage analysis of the axle shaft and the characteristic changes in steel materials as a result of static loading were investigated numerically. In order to observe the mechanical behavior of the axle shaft under various loading conditions, mechanical tests should be supported by numerical analysis. Because the physical causes of damage development can be understood through numerical analysis. The aim of our study is to reach the most suitable values in the design of the variables with the optimization technique of the axle shaft made of AISI 1035 steel. Optimum values were obtained by performing numerical analyzes of the axle shaft designed with Solidworks program. As a result of the analysis, it was observed that deformation occurred at the ends of the axle.

Electron Microscopic Autoradiography (EMA) is of growing importance as a technique for the quantification of radiolabelled biochemicals in subcellular structures. The Maximum-Likelihood (ML) method of Miller et al. has been shown to be substantially superior to the conventional crossfire (OF) method. In this paper, we present a method for reducing the computational requirements of the ML method to a point where it becomes feasible to implement it on a small computer. We then describe EMA/PC, which is a device-independent computer program that implements the complete ML method on the IBM-PC class of machines.We have shown that the iterative Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm has a high computational complexity which can be reduced dramatically via a problem reformulation which involves the computation and use of sufficient statistics, which we call Grain-Organelle Probabilities (GOPs). The computation of GOPs requires the integration of a two-dimensional point-spread function over regions defining subcellular structures in the given set of electron micrographs.

Background: Electronic medical data (EMD) from electronic health records of general practice computer systems have enormous research potential, yet many variables are unreliable. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare selected data variables from general practice EMD with a reliable, representative national dataset (Bettering the Evaluation and Care of Health (BEACH)) in order to validate their use for primary care research. Method: EMD variables were compared with encounter data from the nationally representative BEACH program using χ2 tests and robust 95% confidence intervals to test their validity (measure what they reportedly measure). The variables focused on for this study were patient age, sex, smoking status and medications prescribed at the visit. Results: The EMD sample from six general practices in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia, yielded data on 196,515 patient encounters. Details of 90,553 encounters were recorded in the 2013 BEACH dataset from 924 general practitioners. No significant differences in patient age ( p = 0.36) or sex ( p = 0.39) were found. EMD had a lower rate of current smokers and higher average scripts per visit, but similar prescribing distribution patterns. Conclusion: Validating EMD variables offers avenues for improving primary care delivery and measuring outcomes of care to inform clinical practice and health policy.

While examining thin sections of regenerating rabbit retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) we observed profound changes in ultrastructure as the cells matured. To assist in studying this problem serial thick sections (0.25 μm) through regenerating RPE cells were studied by highvoltage electron microscopy (HVEM) and a computer program (STERECON) used to generate stereo reconstructions.Tissue was obtained from rabbits that received sodium iodate iv -- which destroys large expanses of RPE and permits examination of regeneration from surviving cells. One-two weeks after iodate administration the rabbits were euthanized, the eyes removed and tissue processed for transmission electron microscopy by routine procedures. Serial sections 0.25 μm thick were mounted on Formvar coated slot grids, stained with uranyl acetate and lead citrate and examined with an AEI EM7 1.2 MV HVEM at 1000 kV. Figure 1 illustrates observations made on six sections through the cell seen in Fig. 2. The cell was photographed at 5000x and printed as a montage at 15,000x.

Nowadays, one of industrial main problems is the flexibility of machines to be customized since they are designed based on certain standard. This research develops software for CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machine in order to execute the Newton Interpolation using Python. The platform used in the CNC machine is EMC (Enhanced Machine Control) and GUI (Graphical User Interface) AXIS on the operating system Linux Ubuntu. The Newton interpolation is used to create a curve based on several point determined by user. By converting this curve into G-Code, which could be read by CNC machine, the machine can move according to curve designed by user. This research is an initial study to customize the CNC machine and will continue to fulfill the user needs. This research obtained a program that is able to run well up to 4 input pairs. The higher number inputs will cause the oscillation in the interpolation curve.

Although drill and practice exercises continue to account for a substantial proportion of CALL production, most available foreign language programs suffer from expedient programming and poor pedagogy. At the heart of the problem is the failure of language teaching specialists to involve themselves in CALL research and development. In the absence of AI-derived natural language processors, programs based on anticipated student responses remain the only viable means of creating sophisticated CALL lessons. Special purpose authoring languages offer the most accessible approach to such programming, but are seriously hampered by their lack of flexible feedback capabilities. In particular, much greater author control is needed over pattern matching devices to accommodate the processing of non-differential variations in predicted answers. Provided that basic command structures incorporate variable parameters with pre-set, but alterable, default values, increased author management of response handling need not place unreasonable programming denmands upon the courseware designer. In any event, variable lesson parameters are required to enable students to more intelligently exploit the computer-aided learning environment. To demonstrate the feasibility of implementing flexible response handling control, the essential design features of an Australian developed authoring language, EMU, are examined in some detail.

There is converging evidence that physical activity influences affective states. It has been found that aerobic exercise programs can significantly diminish negative affect. Moreover, among healthy individuals, moderate levels of physical activity seem to increase energetic arousal and positive affect. However, the predictive utility of affective states for bodily movement has rarely been investigated. In this study, we examined whether momentarily assessed affect is associated with bodily movement in everyday life. Using a previously published data set (Schwerdtfeger, Eberhardt, & Chmitorz, 2008), we reanalyzed 12-hr ecological momentary assessment (EMA) data from 124 healthy volunteers. Electronic momentary positive-activated affect (EMA-PAA) and negative affect (EMA-NA) were assessed via handheld computers, and bodily movement was recorded via accelerosensors. Generalized linear mixed models were calculated. Results indicated that EMA-PAA increases were accompanied by bodily movement increases of varying intensity. EMA-NA was also positively associated with increases in certain kinds of bodily movement. In light of previous research, this finding suggests that affect and bodily movement may have circular effects on each other.

To develop a switching algorithm for MMD ETK AHE at direct starts of asynchronous motors (AD), providing restoration of the technological mode within the optimum time after the voltage disappearance for the centralized power supply system.METHODS. The results presented in work are received with use of methods of the theory of electric and magnetic circuits, the theory of electric drive and electric machines, methods of optimization of power supply systems, analytical and numerical methods of applied mathematics, methods of mathematical and computer modeling.RESULTS. In article urgency of a theme is described, features of construction and modelling of ETK GP in the environment MATLAB/SIMULINK with the centralized system of power supply are considered. The comparative analysis of existing methods and calculation of parameters of the substitution schemes of the MMD ETK GP was carried out. Approximate calculation of mechanical and inertial characteristics for creating a model of load (resistance moment) for the motor. The model of EMD of electric motor drive compressor unit was created, as close as possible to the real existing system on the basis of catalog (passport) data of individual elements of electric motor drive unit. There were analyzed and developed proposals to enhance power efficiency of EMD ETC AHE and algorithms, which provide optimal direct start-up of the AHE fan group within the set time after the power failure without overloading of the power supply source, were proposed.CONCLUSIONS. On the basis of results of computer modeling, the peculiarities of operation of EMD ETH ACHE, which require further study and development of corrective measures to improve energy efficiency and reliability of power supply system of GP. Combination of direct starts of single (group) fans of ACHE, obtained at this stage of research of EMD EMD ETC ACHE model, will create the basis (algorithm) for automated control system of this complex, which will ensure restoration of technological mode within optimum time after power outage without overloading of centralized power supply source. Calculation of parameters of individual elements of MMD model of ETC AVO will allow to use data to create other models of ETC GP, which will allow to conduct in-depth research and improve the energy efficiency of the entire system of power supply of GP.

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in nuclear power plants today mostly relies on the qualification tests of the new equipment and adhering to some good installation practices. Diversity of the electromagnetic environment and different susceptibility of the plant equipment calls for a systematic classification of the EMC zones in a nuclear power plant. The paper proposes a methodology that uses a combination of the qualification tests, in situ and bench immunity tests, site survey measurements, operational experience, and numerical calculations to divide a nuclear power plant into a reasonable number of EMC zones. This would primarily help to have a better overview of the current EMC level in the plant and to unify emission and susceptibility requirements for the new equipment. In this paper, special attention is given to the preparation and performance of the in situ tests, which present the most challenging step of the methodology. In addition, the paper proposes some of the possible applications of the numerical calculations and addresses their challenges and limitations. The novel classification methodology, inspired by the equipment qualification program, is illustrated with examples from Krško Nuclear Power Plant, which recently performed a comprehensive EMC assessment.

Introduction. A number of scientists have proven the positive effect of taekwon-Do I.T.F. on the physical state of people of all ages, the state of their musculoskeletal system. However, in the scientific literature there is no data on the effectiveness of taekwon-Do I.T.F. use in the programs of correction of foot arch (FA) disorders of young athletes. Similarly, no studies have been conducted on the effect of taekwon-Do I.T.F. exercises on the development of myofacsical kinematic chain (MFKC) of the lower limb and its role in the foot maintenance and correction in foot arch disorders. The purpose is to experimentally test the effectiveness of a comprehensive program for the foot arch disorders correction of young athletes by means of taekwon-Do I.T.F. Material and method. The following instrumental methods were used in the work: plantography (baropodograph using computer device “DIERS FAAMUS” (Germany)); electroneuromyography ("Neuro-EMG-Micro" made by "Neurosoft" (Russia)); photometry; myotonometry; formative consistent pedagogical experiment; methods of statistical data processing (Statistics 6.0 (StatSoft, USA)). Young athletes aged 7–8 with FA disorders and a normal foot took part in a 12-month formative experiment. Results. The value of the Friedland index, which characterizes the functional foot reserves, increased statistically significantly among EG1 young athletes who practiced according to the program developed by us, compared with those who were training according to the traditional program – by 6.48% against 3.85%, respectively. Conclusions. Analysis of FA morphological parameters of young athletes aged 7-8 years shows that the positive changes are statistically significantly more performed in young athletes who were training in the sports center "Taekwon-Do I.T.F." on a program of comprehensive correction, which is confirmed by FA changes.

Innervation zone (IZ) has been identified as the origin of action potential propagation in isometric contraction. However, IZ shifts with changes in muscle length during muscle activity. The IZ shift has been estimated using raw EMG signals. This study aimed to investigate the movement of IZ location during continuous dynamic muscle contraction, using a computer program. Subjects flexed their elbow joint as repetitive dynamic muscle contractions. EMG signals were recorded from the biceps brachii muscle using an eight-channel surface electrode array. Approximately 100 peaks from EMG signals were detected for each channel and summed to estimate the IZ location. For each subject, the estimated IZ locations were subtracted from the IZ location during isometric contractions with the elbow flexed at 90°. The results showed that the IZ moved significantly with elbow joint movement from 45° to 135°. However, IZ movement was biased with only a 3.9 mm IZ shift on average when the elbow angle was acute but a 16 mm IZ shift on average when it was obtuse. The movement of IZ location during continuous dynamic muscle contraction can be investigated using this signal processing procedure without subjective judgment.

The mathematical vector model of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has first been discussed in this paper, and a servo control system based on Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) has been designed, in which a enhanced Microprogrammed Control Unit (EMCU) is combined with drive chips and the relevant control software to achieve the precise control of PMSM. In order to control the position, speed and current of the PMSM, six SVPWM signals are generated with the motor vector control method, and the vector control strategy with three closed loops is projected. According to the control principle, the circuits of the hardware modules are designed and built, and the program of the control process is compiled and downloaded the EMCU, and then the human-computer interaction interface of the system is implemented by LabVIEW. The results of the test show that the control system designed can control the rotating speed and the high-speed pendulum operation of PMSM precisely.

Abstract Introduction Swallowing involves a complex motor pattern and coordination with breathing and other oro-motor behaviors. Sleep has major depressive effect on many of the motor neuronal pools that facilitate swallowing, particularly upper airway muscles. This study examines the state-depedence of the swallow motor program and coordination with breathing. Methods Adult subjects recruited from community undertook an overnight sleep laboratory study. Subjects were instrumented to monitor sleep (EEG), breathing (nasal mask, pneumotach), swallowing / airway valving events (epiglottic pressure, submental EMG) and pharyngeal muscle activity (peroral genioglosuss EMG electrodes).We report preliminary findings (N=5; 2 female; age: 23-57 yrs) from an ongoing study. Data reported mean ± SD. Results Nocturnal swallowing occurred intermittently thoughout the night, the majority triggered during an arousal from sleep (43-98% of all nocturnal swallows). Pharyngeal swallowing pressure was 147±44 cmH2O during quiet wake, 137±25 cmH2O during arousal from sleep, and 78 ± 23 cmH2O in stable sleep (p=0.02, RM-ANOVA). Swallows generated a brief, near-maximal burst of genioglossus EMG activity during quiet wake (90 ± 2 %, N=2) and during arousal from sleep (107 ± 24 %). In stable sleep, swallow EMG activity was 34 ± 1 %. Swallows during wakefulness occurred during expiration, the vast majority bracketed by expiration (Ex/Ex). Swallows in sleep, or during arousal from sleep, occurred in all phases of the respiratory cycle. Conclusions Swallows elicited during arousal from sleep generate ballistic EMG and pharyngeal pressures equivalent to wake state. In contrast, swallowing in stable sleep produces a markedly attenuated EMG and pharyngeal pressure.

The meaning of the concept "methodical training of future teachers" is revealed. The need to im- prove the methodological training of future computer sci- ence teachers while studying in higher education institu- tions is substantiated. The analysis of the methodical component of professional training of applicants for higher education at the bachelor's and master's levels according to the educational-professional program Secondary Edu- cation (Informatics) is carried out. Methodical training of applicants for higher pedagogical education is aimed at mastering the basics of methodical activities of the subject teacher and is based on special (subject), psychological, pedagogical and methodological knowledge and skills, as well as professional motives that permeate each of the previous components. The peculiarities of the organization of methodical training in the process of studying the methods of teaching computer science are revealed, ex- amples of educational and methodical tasks are given, the solution of which is aimed at mastering methodical knowledge and formation of methodical skills. Emphasis is placed on the methodological training of future teachers on the basis of the competence paradigm. Methodological training should be cross-cutting and reflected at all stages of obtaining the qualification of "computer science teacher" in a higher education institution, primarily by means of disciplines from the cycle of professional training of com- pulsory and elective components of the educational- professional program. It is necessary to take into account the purpose and objectives of the school course "Informat- ics", tools, methods and principles of teaching, content of educational material, projected learning outcomes, meth- ods of teaching computer science in general and its indi- vidual sections, the dynamic development of computer science as a basic science and as a discipline in the sec- ondary education institutions. Methodical training of future teachers of computer science is considered as: learning process; component of the training system; learn- ing outcome. It is found that the result of methodical train- ing is acquired at a certain level of methodological compe- tence, which reflects the formed skills to reasonably and methodically construct the educational process from the school course of computer science for a specific didactic situation taking into account psychological mechanisms of learning and developing computer skills.

The article describes a mobile virtual reality platform based on the biological feedback of electromyography for restoring the functions of the upper limbs of people affected by accidents, stroke, Parkinson's disease or who suffered as a result of military operations. The definition of the electromyography (EMG) signal is given. The effectiveness of the biological feedback method in the rehabilitation process is indicated. The problem of initial data preprocessing is considered in order to identify the informative features of the EMG signal in the time domain. The general scheme of a mobile virtual reality platform based on biological feedback is described and preliminary evidence of the platform capability in its current state is presented. The block diagram of the EMG data acquisition module is developed. Developing a training program within the framework of computer games in two-dimensional or three-dimensional space is proposed. The algorithm of the mobile virtual reality platform based on the biological feedback of electromyography is illustrated. The results of the implementation of the proposed biofeedback electromyography system are presented. The advantages of the developed system in comparison with other systems currently available are emphasized; the disadvantages of this method are identified and ways to eliminate them are proposed

In recent years, wearable monitoring devices have been very popular in the health care field and are being used to avoid sport injuries during exercise. They are usually worn on the wrist, the same as sport watches, or on the chest, like an electrocardiogram patch. Common functions of these wearable devices are that they use real time to display the state of health of the body, and they are all small sized. The electromyogram (EMG) signal is usually used to show muscle activity. Thus, the EMG signal could be used to determine the muscle-fatigue conditions. In this study, the goal is to develop an EMG patch which could be worn on the lower leg, the gastrocnemius muscle, to detect real-time muscle fatigue while exercising. A micro controller unit (MCU) in the EMG patch is part of an ARM Cortex-M4 processor, which is used to measure the median frequency (MF) of an EMG signal in real time. When the muscle starts showing tiredness, the median frequency will shift to a low frequency. In order to delete the noise of the isotonic EMG signal, the EMG patch has to run the empirical mode decomposition algorithm. A two-electrode circuit was designed to measure the EMG signal. The maximum power consumption of the EMG patch was about 39.5 mAh. In order to verify that the real-time MF values measured by the EMG patch were close to the off-line MF values measured by the computer system, we used the root-mean-square value to estimate the difference in the real-time MF values and the off-line MF values. There were 20 participants that rode an exercise bicycle at different speeds. Their EMG signals were recorded with an EMG patch and a physiological measurement system at the same time. Every participant rode the exercise bicycle twice. The averaged root-mean-square values were 2.86 ± 0.86 Hz and 2.56 ± 0.47 Hz for the first and second time, respectively. Moreover, we also developed an application program implemented on a smart phone to display the participants’ muscle-fatigue conditions and information while exercising. Therefore, the EMG patch designed in this study could monitor the muscle-fatigue conditions to avoid sport injuries while exercising.

A topical issue of modern dentistry is the timely diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal syndrome of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). A large number of publications in domestic and foreign literature is devoted to the study of this problem, but there is no single approach to diagnosis and a clear method of examination of the patient to establish a diagnosis. The purpose of our study was to implement a comprehensive methodology for early diagnosis of dysfunction by applying an analysis of a computer expert application we created. Based on the conducted research, in order to synchronize the data, simplify the work and deepen the analysis of diagnostics, an expert computer system for the diagnosis of dysfunction of the TMJ "PR" was developed. The program is applied and has 486 qualitative and quantitative components of the analysis criteria in its analytical base. The necessary parameters of the analysis include: frequency and intensity of headache, unilateral tinnitus, feeling of fatigue of chewing muscles during chewing solid food, degree of mouth opening, nature of movement of the mandible when opening the mouth, results of physical examination methods, the presence of clicks in the TMJ with taking into account the phase of mouth opening etc. s well as quantitative parameters of these additional methods of investigation of infrared thermography of the chewing muscles and area of the TMJ, EMG of chewing and mimic muscles, axiography, MRI, CT, ultrasound, digital analysis of occlusal ratios. The expert system program developed took into account all the maximum possible values of each parameter. The diagnosis was based on a combination of parameter values. The use of the multi-link expert computer system "PR" made it possible to take into account all the parameters of the patient examination and to obtain the most reliable diagnosis, which is necessary both at the initial stage of the patient's treatment, and for correlation and correction of medical measures in such patients.

The purpose of this research is to have simulation software capable of processing interrupt instruction and I/O operation that in the future it can contribute in developing a kernel. Interrupt and I/O operation are necessary in the development of the kernel system. Kernel is a medium for hardware and software to communicate. However, Not many application software which helps the learner to understand interrupt process. In managing the hardware, there are times when some kind of condition exist in the system that needs attention of processor or in this case kernel which managing the hardware. In response to that condition, the system will issue an interrupt request to sort that condition. As the I/O operation is needed since a computer system not just consists of CPU and memory only but also other device such as I/O device. This paper elaborates the application software for learning Interrupt application. With interrupt instruction and I/O operation in the simulation program, the program will be more represent the process happened in the real life computer. In this case, the program is able to run the interrupt instruction, I/O operation and other changes are running as expected. Refers to its main purpose, perhaps this simulation can lead to developing the kernel in operating system. From the results of instruction’s testing above, has a result that shows that 90% of instructions are run properly. The crystal structure of an aluminophosphate, EMM-8 (ExxonMobil Material #8), was determined in its calcined, anhydrous form from synchrotron powder diffraction data using the computer program FOCUS. A linkage of double four-ring (D4R) building units forms a two-dimensional framework with 12-MR and 8-MR channels, and differs from a similar SAPO-40 (AFR) framework only by the relationship between paired D4R units. Rietveld refinement reveals a fit of the model to the observed synchrotron data by R wp = 0.1118, R(F 2) = 0.1769. Local environments of the tetrahedral phosphorus and aluminium sites were established by solid-state NMR, which detects distinct differences between as-synthesized and calcined materials. Distinct, reversible changes in the local symmetry of the P and Al atoms were observed by NMR upon calcination and subsequent hydration. These NMR data provided important constraints on the number of tetrahedral (T) atoms per unit cell and the connectivities of the T atoms. Detailed local structural information obtained by solid-state NMR thereby guided the ultimate determination of the structure of AlPO EMM-8 from the powder data. Comparisons are made to the recently published crystal structure of the fluoride-containing, as-synthesized SSZ-51, indicating that the unit-cell symmetry, axial dimensions and framework structure are preserved after calcination.

Muscle fatigue represents a complex phenomenon including various causes, mechanisms, and forms of manifestation. It develops as a result of a chain of metabolic, structural, and energetic changes in muscles due to insufficient oxygen and nutritive substances supply through blood circulation, as well as a result of intensive physical exercise. In this study, a new method for frequency band energy of wavelet packet decomposition is proposed which combines normalized energy into wavelet packet decomposition and uses the frequency band energy quotient as physiological parameters for detecting muscles fatigue before and after human exercise. The operator’s subjective fatigue test and surface electromyography (EMG) objective test were combined to design the experiment, and a computer program was used to control the operation interface and record the operation results. Three major operating fatigue variables, namely, the most comfortable initial position of the operator, the difference in operating direction, and the difference in operating distance, were evaluated. The surface EMG consumption of the operator was measured synchronously with the surface EMG meter. After variable control and error analysis, test results are analyzed, and the range of the operator’s most comfortable initial position is summarized. The differences of operator fatigue degree in eight operating directions and operating fatigue degree in different operating distance variables are obtained. In the whole test process, the operator’s subjective test results and objective test results remain consistent, which has proved the rationality of the experimental design and experimental results.

Abstract The research aims to characterise the optimisation of a technological process depending on the main time parameters for production. The optimisation does not require to correct technical parameters of a system, but rather the organisational and managerial factors of the technological process. The workload is taken as an evaluation criterion, which factors in the probability distribution of time characteristics of computer process operations. Time characteristics that represent the performance of an operation influence the workloads of an operator and equipment, determining the productivity of the technological process. Analytical models were developed for the operational control of a production line efficiency considering the probability–statistical parameters pertaining to the performance of operations and technological equipment peculiarities. The article presents research results, which characterise the dependence of a production line efficiency on the type of equipment, and the duration of preparatory and final operations considering their probability. Under an optimal workload of the operator, the duration of the complete program changes linearly, regardless of the time required for the performance of operations by a computer without the involvement of the operator, and depending on the type of equipment. A managerial decision can be optimal under the condition that the factor of technological process efficiency (K_TP) tends to max. The developed method of analytical determination can be used to calculate the workload of both an operator and technological equipment. The calculations of the duration of a production line operation resulted in the methodology for the consideration of probability characteristics pertaining to the time distribution of the period required to perform operations, which influences the unequal efficiency of the production line. The probabilistic character of time distribution related to intervals of performed operations serves as a parameter in the management of technological process optimisation, which can be achieved using simulators of technological processes optimised in terms of their efficiency.

The analysis of a research work developed in the company C.V.G CARBONORCA of Venezuela is presented, which has two gas purification plants for the cooking area, designed to purify the gas that comes from the cooking ovens. Each plant is made up of solenoid valves, pneumatic valves, transmitters, process mimic panel and a supervisory system. All these elements are governed by a SIEMENS S5-115U PLC which is in a state of obsolescence, which is why the replacement of these automata by ALLEN BRADLEY ContolLogix automata was designed, in order to guarantee continuity in operations in plant. The research was done with a descriptive design of the field experimental type. A code for each gas treatment plant was obtained in RSLOGIX 5000 v17.00.00 and the update of the database of the supervisory system. Purpose: To improve record accuracy of external power supply network influence on the operation of traction power supply systems of industrial frequency AC. The article shows that existing mathematical models of traction and external power supply joint operation have sounding limitations. These limitations almost exclude the possibility of their practical use. At the same time, when projecting a new electrification, it is required to choose the most efficient external power supply scheme. At the exploitation of existing electrified sections, the necessity arises to assess equalizing current value during repairs in external power supply networks and to adopt a decision on changing power supply and sectioning schemes. Corresponding model is required to solve these tasks. Methods: Analysis of existing mathematical models and computer programs for joint calculation for traction and external power supply networks. Development of three-phase PU-generator models on the basis of EMF source behind an inductive resistance, development of three-phase and single-phase load models. Results: The article presents a description of a mathematical model implied to study the joint operation of 25 kV AC traction power supply systems and 110-750 kV power supply systems. The principles of building the model of three-phase and single-phase PU-generators on EMF source basis behind inductive resistance as well as the models of three-phase and single-phase loads are considered. Based on the given mathematical expressions, a computer model has been developed that allows analyzing the joint operation of three-phase external power supply networks and single-phase traction ones. The model is implemented in MATLAB-Simulink software package. Using this computer model, the influence of power flows through 110–330 kV network of Karelenergo and “FSK EAS” Public Companies on equalizing currents in the traction network of Knyazhaya — Idel section of Oktyabrskaya railway was analyzed. Practical importance: The reliability raise for traction power supply system operation at the expense of precise calculation of equalizing currents. Energy loss reduction in a traction network in account of traction network optimal power supply scheme choice.

Pullover and straight arm pulldown exercises are commonly used in resistance exercise programs to improve sports performance or in physical activity health programs. This study aimed to evaluate the individual electromyographic (EMG) activity of the pectoralis major (clavicular, sternal, and costal portions), latissimus dorsi, anterior deltoid, triceps brachii, and rectus abdominis muscles in a barbell pullover exercise at a 100% biacromial width and a straight arm pulldown exercise at a 100% and 150% biacromial width and to compare the EMG activity in these selected muscles and exercises. Twenty healthy and physically active adults performed a set of eight repetitions of each exercise against 30% of their body mass. The barbell pullover exercise presented a higher EMG activity (p ≤ 0.01) than the straight arm pulldown exercise in both biacromial widths in all evaluated muscles except for the latissimus dorsi and the triceps brachii. These muscles showed the highest EMG activity in the straight arm pulldown exercise at both biacromial widths. In all of the exercises and muscles evaluated, the concentric phase showed a greater EMG activity than the eccentric phase. In conclusion, the barbell pullover exercise can highlight muscle activity in the pectoralis major (mainly in the sternal and lower portions), triceps brachii, and rectus abdominis muscles. However, the straight arm pulldown exercise at 100% and 150% biacromial widths could be a better exercise to stimulate the latissimus dorsi and triceps brachii muscles. Moreover, all exercises showed significantly greater EMG activity (p < 0.001) in the concentric phase than in the eccentric phase for all the evaluated muscles.

Background: Oral appliances embedding sensors can be interesting tools for monitoring tooth contact bruxism in a home environment, as they address some of the usability limitations of portable electromyography (EMG) systems. In this study, an oral appliance for sleep bruxism monitoring was compared to an electromyograph. Methods: Simulated bruxism events with tooth contact, specifically clenching and grinding, and other occlusal activities unrelated to bruxism, were measured in 23 subjects with the two instruments simultaneously. The recordings were analyzed automatically by a computer program in order to compare the two techniques. Results: The two instruments were found to be strongly correlated in terms of detecting events (r = 0.89), and estimating their duration (r = 0.88) and their intensity (r = 0.83). Conclusions: The two techniques were in agreement in measuring event frequency, duration and intensity in the studied group, suggesting that force-sensing oral appliances have the potential to be easy-to-use tools for home monitoring of bruxism, alone or as complements to portable EMGs.

Abstract The article reveals relevance of the problem of unbalance of line voltages in closed electrical networks with distributed generation as a source of electromagnetic interference, in particular, the problem of electromagnetic compatibility of coastal and ship technical equipment. There is presented mathematical description of the process of occurrence of conductive low-frequency EMF by the voltage unbalance coefficient in the reverse sequence and an algorithm for finding it; using the equations, parameters of this coefficient are described, such as mathematical expectation, standard deviation, probability of occurrence for the billing period, as a result, a computer program has been developed to calculate these parameters; a method for processing the obtained data of power quality indicators according to the found coefficient has been developed; an algorithm for balancing voltages in an electrical network based on finding the most optimal power supply scheme for end consumers (certificate of state registration of an electronic resource No. 23664).

Electromagnetic articulography (EMA) was explored as a means of remediating [s]/[∫] articulation deficits in the speech of an adult with Broca’s aphasia and apraxia of speech. Over a 1-month period, the subject was provided with 2 different treatments in a counterbalanced procedure: (1) visually guided biofeedback concerning tongue-tip position and (2) a foil treatment in which a computer program delivered voicing-contrast stimuli for simple repetition. Kinematic and perceptual data suggest improvement resulting from visually guided biofeedback, both for nonspeech oral and, to a lesser extent, speech motor tasks. In contrast, the phonetic contrast treated in the foil condition showed only marginal improvement during the therapy session, with performance dropping back to baseline 10 weeks post-treatment. Although preliminary, the findings suggest that visual biofeedback concerning tongue-tip position can be used to treat nonspeech oral and (to a lesser extent) speech motor behavior in adults with Broca’s aphasia and apraxia of speech.

This paper presents a reliable and fast index to detect the instant of arc extinction for adaptive single-pole automatic reclosing (ASPAR). The proposed method is a simple technique for ASPAR on shunt compensated transmission lines using the Hilbert–Huang Transform (HHT). The HHT method is a combination of the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and the Hilbert transform (HT). The first intrinsic mode function (IMF1) decomposed by EMD, which contains high frequencies of the faulty phase voltage, was used to calculate the proposed index. HT calculates the first IMF spectrum in the time-frequency domain. The presented index is the sum of all frequency contents below 55 Hz, which remains very low until the fault clearance. The proposed method uses a global threshold level and therefore no adjustment is needed for different transmission systems. This method is effective for various system configurations including different fault locations, line loading, and various shunt reactor configurations, designs, compensation rates, and placement. The performance of the method was verified using 324 test cases simulated in electromagnetic transient program (EMTP) related to a 345 kV transmission line. For all the test cases, the algorithm successfully operated with an average reclosing time delay of 32 ms.

Resident physicians (residents) experiencing prolonged workplace stress are at risk of developing mental health symptoms. Creating novel, unobtrusive measures of resilience would provide an accessible approach to evaluate symptom susceptibility without the perceived stigma of formal mental health assessments. In this work, we created a system to find indicators of resilience using passive wearable sensors and smartphone-delivered ecological momentary assessment (EMA). This system identified indicators of resilience during a medical internship, the high stress first-year of a residency program. We then created density estimation approaches to predict these indicators before mental health changes occurred, and validated whether the predicted indicators were also associated with resilience. Our system identified resilience indicators associated with physical activity (step count), sleeping behavior, reduced heart rate, increased mood, and reduced mood variability. Density estimation models were able to replicate a subset of the associations between sleeping behavior, heart rate, and resilience. To the best of our knowledge, this work provides the first methodology to identify and predict indicators of resilience using passive sensing and EMA. Researchers studying resident mental health can apply this approach to design resilience-building interventions and prevent mental health symptom development.

Interferon regulatory factor-4 (IRF4) and IRF8 regulate differentiation, growth and functions of lymphoid and myeloid cells. Targeted deletion of irf8 in T cells (CD4-IRF8KO) has been shown to exacerbate colitis and experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU), a mouse model of human uveitis. We therefore generated mice lacking irf4 in T cells (CD4-IRF4KO) and investigated whether expression of IRF4 by T cells is also required for regulating T cells that suppress autoimmune diseases. Surprisingly, we found that CD4-IRF4KO mice are resistant to EAU. Suppression of EAU derived in part from inhibiting pathogenic responses of Th17 cells while inducing expansion of regulatory lymphocytes that secrete IL-10 and/or IL-35 in the eye and peripheral lymphoid tissues. Furthermore, CD4-IRF4KO T cells exhibit alterations in cell metabolism and are defective in the expression of two Ikaros zinc-finger (IKZF) transcription factors (Ikaros, Aiolos) that are required for lymphocyte differentiation, metabolism and cell-fate decisions. Thus, synergistic effects of IRF4 and IkZFs might induce metabolic reprogramming of differentiating lymphocytes and thereby dynamically regulate relative abundance of T and B lymphocyte subsets that mediate immunopathogenic mechanisms during uveitis. Moreover, the diametrically opposite effects of IRF4 and IRF8 during EAU suggests that intrinsic function of IRF4 in T cells might be activating proinflammatory responses while IRF8 promotes expansion of immune-suppressive mechanisms.

Current mobile phone applications demand high performance from the DSP, and future generations are likely to require even greater throughput. However, it is important to balance these processing demands against the requirement of low power consumption for extended battery lifetime. A novel low-power digital signal processor (DSP) architecture CADRE (Configurable Asynchronous DSP for Reduced Energy) addresses these requirements through a multi-level power reduction strategy. A parallel architecture and configurable compressed instruction set meets the throughput requirements without excessive program memory bandwidth, while a large register file reduces the cost of data accesses. Sign-magnitude representation is used for data, to reduce switching activity within the datapath. Asynchronous design gives fine-grained activity control without the complexities of clock gating, and gives low electromagnetic interference. Finally, the operational model of the target application allows for a reduced interrupt structure, simplifying processor design by avoiding the need for exact exceptions.

To obtain accurate optimal design results in electric machines, the finite element analysis (FEA) technique should be used; however, it is time-consuming. In addition, when the design of experiments (DOE) is conducted in the optimal design process, mechanical design, analysis, and post process must be performed for each design point, which requires a significant amount of design cost and time. This study proposes an automated DOE procedure through linkage between an FEA program and optimal design program to perform DOE easily and accurately. Parametric modeling was developed for the FEA model for automation, the files required for automation were generated using the macro function, and the interface between the FEA and optimal design program was established. Shape optimization was performed on permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) for small electric vehicles to maximize torque while maintaining efficiency, torque ripple, and total harmonic distortion of the back EMF using the built-in automation program. Fifty FEAs were performed for the experimental points selected by optimal Latin hypercube design and their results were analyzed by screening. Eleven metamodels were created for each output variable using the DOE results and root mean squared error tests were conducted to evaluate the predictive performance of the metamodels. The optimization design based on metamodels was conducted using the hybrid metaheuristic algorithm to determine the global optimum. The optimum design results showed that the average torque was improved by 2.5% in comparison to the initial model, while satisfying all constraints. Finally, the optimal design results were verified by FEA. Consequently, it was found that the proposed optimal design method can be useful for improving the performance of PMSM as well as reducing design cost and time.

Organizational success is of the main drivers in achieving organizational goal and objectives as indicated in literature. Based on this evidenced the study focused the relationship between open book management and organizational success of deposit money banks in Nigeria. The study adopted quasi-experimental research design and examined the population of 200 employees with a sample size of 133 respondents in four deposit money banks in Nigeria. Questionnaire was the measure instrument for data collection and the collected data were analyzed using Spearman’s’ Rank Order Correlation Coefficient statistic. The result shows a significant relationship between the dimensions of open book management and organizational success measures of deposit money banks in Nigeria. Therefore, the study concluded that open book management affect organizational success and recommended that management should periodically make employees to know about the financial statues of the organization and to develop employees’ recognition programs and provide pay-performance programs that will stimulate employees’ performance toward achievement of organizational success.

Abstract In this paper the electromechanical battery (EMB) with synchronous machine is described. Theoretically, if electrical machines rotor stored energy is known, it is possible to reduce the flywheel mass of electromechanical battery. For example, the efficiency of energy recovery (kilowatt-hours out versus kilowatthours in) in nowadays appliances exceeds 95 % which is considerably better than of any electrochemical battery, such as lead-acid battery. For the rotor stored energy amount calculation, it is necessary to find all geometrical dimensions of the electrical machine. To achieve this goal the iterative calculation method was used. Electromechanical battery mass was analyzed as a discharge process rotation speed function. Taking into account the rotor stored energy, we can increase the minimum rotation speed thus reducing the electrical machine mass and increasing the flywheel mass, which provides EMB cost reduction. Additionally, the possibilities of using numerical approximation calculations of magnetization curves are discussed. Each iteration of numerical application necessary for the method for rapid calculation is essential when calculating the field problems. Nowadays there are a lot of computer added design programs for electromagnetic field calculation in different types of applications, electrical machines and apparatus. For the electromagnetic field calculation process some more commonly used magnetization curve approximation methods are described, and the machine calculation time is tested for different numbers of calculations.
