The United Nations, the European Union, and many other organizations must conduct meetings in many languages, but typically employ human interpreters with their accompanying cost. In addition, these oral discussions require participants to take turns speaking, lengthening the process. Many studies have shown that group support systems can reduce meeting time and increase productivity, and the addition of automatic translation into this process could support these multilingual groups. However, prior studies have typically used only a few languages with group members face to face. This study investigates how well a large multilingual group can use electronic meeting software in a geographically dispersed environment. Results show that the group members were able to understand comments exchanged in 66 languages when translated to English, and they believed the multilingual meeting system was useful for such discussions.

Meetings take up a large amount of time, especially at the upper managerial levels. To help meetings progress smoothly and reach desired goals, meeting facilitators are frequently called in. Facilitators have at their disposal a number of techniques, including thinkLets. Through the use of thinkLets, facilitators can plan the meeting beforehand, deciding which activities to perform at each point. However, even with the use of thinkLets, designing a meeting is not an easy task, in particular for novice facilitators. A number of considerations must be made when selecting activities and designing the meeting dynamics. In this paper, the authors discuss this problem and present a framework and a system to assist the design of meetings, electronic or otherwise, using thinkLets and compatibility rules. The framework implements rules to help facilitators select and link thinkLets together in and orderly fashion, designing the meeting in the process.

The digitisation of administrative tasks and processes is a reality nowadays, translating into added value such as agility in process management, or simplified access to stored data. The digitisation of processes of decision-making in collegiate bodies, such as Academic Councils, is not yet a common reality. Voting acts are still carried out in person, or at most in online meetings, without having a real confirmation of the vote of each element. This is particularly complex to achieve in remote meeting scenarios, where connection breaks or interruptions of audio or video streams may exist. A new digital platform was already previously proposed. It considered decision-making, by voting in Academic Councils, to be supported by a system that guarantees the integrity of the decisions taken, even when meeting online. Our previous work mainly considered the overall design. In this work, we bettered the design and specification of our previous proposal and describe the implemented prototype, and validate and discuss the obtained results.

Electronic atlases have the potential to add a new dimension to the use of atlas information. An electronic version can contain data and software to produce maps not possible in book form. They can serve as a preliminary stage to Atlas Information Systems and can also form the core of a multimedia system. The ICA commission on national atlases was formed at the 13th International Cartographic Conference in Morelia, Mexico in 1987 to serve as a forum for electronic atlas conception and production. Electronic atlases have been a topic at every commission meeting ever since. The observations presented in this paper are findings from these meetings.

The worldwide growth of automotive towards electronic systems suggests that driverless cars would soon be the common commuters. With such improvements safety of the passengers becomes first priority for the manufacturers. Nowadays automobiles come with high end technologies and quick responsive electronic systems. In addition to the passive safety systems, active safety systems definitely avoid collision thereby reducing the chances of injury and death. This project shows the working of an active safety system that is collision avoidance system. To create the model, TINKERCAD software has been used and a detailed working is explained. As a result, the system detects traffic and can alert the driver and stop the vehicle before meeting the collision. Keywords: Active Safety System, Arduino, Tinkercad, Vehicle Electronics System, Automotive Safety System, Collision Avoidance System, Self-Driving Car, Driverless Vehicle.

Translation accuracy continues to be a major problem in multilingual electronic meetings and a significant reason for such systems’ lack of acceptance and use. One way of increasing accuracy is detecting potential errors before a comment is added to the discussion. By comparing the original message text with a round-trip translation (RTT) and correcting any wording mistakes, misunderstandings might be prevented in the overall conversation. In this study, one group used an electronic meeting system with automatic translation that detected differences between a participant’s typed comment and a RTT. If there was a significant change, the group member was then given an opportunity to modify the text before submitting it to the transcript. Another group, serving as the control group, used an equivalent electronic meeting system without error detection. Results show that there was only a slight, non-significant increase in comprehension when comments were revised and translated to German with an 80% similarity threshold, but there would have been a significant increase in comprehension if a 50% threshold had been chosen.

Background: Industrial era 4.0 has an impact on the world of education. This affects students, where students can understand subject matter such as biology, which contains abstract concepts such as circulation system material. The teaching materials developed in this study are expected to improve student learning outcomes by integrating guided inquiry learning models. This study aimed to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of guided inquiry-based electronic modules. Method: 4D model development research. Data collection by interview and questionnaire sheet. Result: The module validation of the language validator is 83%, the material is 81%, the media 81% has a good category, while the learning device validator is 96%, the learning validator is 98%, and 94% has a very good category. Practicality is taken from student responses which are divided into three stages: 81% preliminary trial, 89% quantitative trial, and 92% final trial showing a positive response. The effectiveness of this guided inquiry-based electronic module can improve student learning outcomes seen from the N-Gain score results. The control class is 0.38 with medium criteria, and the experimental class is 0.73 with high criteria. While the psychometric results of students who studied using guided inquiry-based electronic modules for three meetings, namely the first meeting 77% (good), the second meeting 91% (very good), and the third meeting 88% (very good). Conclusion: Guided inquiry-based electronic module on circulation system material has a potential effect on improving student learning outcomes

Communicating in a non-native language during a traditional, oral meeting is difficult, but a Group Support System (GSS) along with online machine translation (MT) can increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the discussion. An experimental study shows that a group facilitator can use a Web-based translation service to support a multilingual meeting, but completely automated language support is likely to be more efficient for large groups.

In conditions of a globalising economy, the practice of holding a meeting by electronic means of communication to arrange a company’s day-to-day economic activities is increasingly widespread. Physical participation in a general meeting may be impeded by various natural circumstances, such as the risk of spread of diseases or weather conditions adverse to travel. The same impediments and inconveniences can affect public limited companies, whose shareholders often are in different countries, such that physically attending a general meeting may prove to be excessively burdensome. Therefore, the question of holding general meetings in digital form has become one of the more prominent issues in company law. The article examines whether and to what extent Estonia and other countries (Germany first and foremost, as a country with a legal system similar to Estonia’s, but also the Netherlands and the United Kingdom) regulate holding of public limited companies’ general meetings by electronic means. The article also addresses the main legal problems connected with participation in a general meeting held in digital form.

Groups exchanging ideas in electronic meetings often generate irrelevant or off-topic comments that can detract from the conversation. Here, we describe a system that seeks to identify this immaterial text using previously identified keywords. Results of an experiment with the system show that group members believe meetings do have irrelevant comments that waste time, but participants often enjoy them. The system achieved an F measure of 42.3% for recall and precision, and further research is necessary to determine if this is sufficient or what can be done to improve this score.

The Electronic Check (eCheck) is designed to substitute paper checks to enhance the bank service with new ecommerce features in today's global economy, especially meeting the great upsurge of Internet and mobile banking services. The eCheck inherits all features of paper checks in an electronic format with some inherent advantages, as well as some new problems, which will be discussed in this article. Although the concept of eCheck has been put forward for more than two decades, the security of the eCheck system is still the key concern of the whole scheme, as well as the forensic trace of eCheck fraud. In this article, one implementation of a secure eCheck system is introduced which can defend most kinds of eCheck fraud and this article novelly analyzes how to trace back the fraud from a forensic perspective.

The increasing economic and practical necessity of groups or teams of individuals working together to accomplish shared objectives can be observed in many diverse organizations (Alvai and Keen, 1989; Kraemer and King, 1988). This trend is reflected in many ways in complex system development environments. For example, the growing emphasis on concurrent engineering practices, and the application of tools that better organize and coordinate engineering efforts across diverse groups (e.g., CASE tools), both require and reflect the need for coordinated group activities. In turn, the growth of group work environments has led to growing interest and need for tools that can support and enhance the effectiveness of group work activities. Such a tool is an electronic meeting system (EMS). This case study reports the effectiveness of an EMS applied as part of a computer-human interface (CHI) design evaluation methodology, in the design of an air traffic control system.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning method with the help of Electronic Control System learning media in improving the competence of class XII students in Electrical Power Installation Engineering skills at SMKN 2 Depok in the subject of electronic control systems. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles, with three meetings for each cycle. Each cycle in this study consisted of four stages of implementation, namely planning, implementing actions, observing, and reflecting. Data was collected using affective observation sheets, psychomotor observation sheets, and pre-test and post-test instruments. The instrument of affective observation sheet is used to determine students' competence in the affective aspect. The psychomotor observation sheet instrument was used to determine student competence in psychomotor aspects. Pre-test and post-test instruments were used to determine students' competence in cognitive aspects. The data analysis technique used is data reduction, data exposure, and conclusion drawing. The results showed an increase in student competence in the affective, psychomotor, and cognitive aspects after the implementation of the STAD technique cooperative learning method with the help of Electronic Control System learning media. In the affective aspect, there was an increase of 48.21%, with the percentage of students' affective aspects at the first meeting of 56%, increasing to 83% at the sixth meeting. In the psychomotor aspect there was an increase of 22.15%, with the average psychomotor score of students on job sheet 1 of 67.66, increasing to 82.65 on job sheet 4. In the cognitive aspect there was an increase of 110.9%, with a score of the average pre-test cycle 1 was 38.53, increased to 81.26 in the post-test cycle 2.Keywords: student competence, student team achievement division, electronic control system

Trauma meetings constitute the majority of clinical decision-making for new referrals and also act as a crucial tool to coordinate the trauma theatre list. Incorporation of electronic technology has been shown to improve the quality of patient handover. eTrauma is a recently developed cloud-based patient management platform which we planned to implement at our hospital. The aim of our project was to evaluate the quality of our current trauma meeting and subsequently the effect of implementing a modern trauma management platform. In order to identify the key concerns of staff members with the trauma meeting handover, a questionnaire was given to 20 members of the team. A review of effective handover guidelines published from the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians was undertaken. We combined information from these guidelines to identify two key sets of data points for an effective trauma referral: patient demographics and referral details. Questionnaires were distributed at three separate time periods providing assessment of implementation of changes. The questionnaire results indicated progressive improvement in the morning trauma meeting with increased clarity for the anaesthetic team, better communication of operation to be performed, better documentation and clarity of management plans. A total of 150 referrals using the existing system (TIGER) were compared with 100 eTrauma referrals at two separate time intervals. Our analysis showed significant improvements in 12 (57%) of the 21 key data points indicating improved data entry for referrals using the new platform. Three PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act) cycles were completed with relevant adjustments within this process. Introduction of a new cloud-based trauma management platform has had a positive impact overall within our trust. Modern electronic trauma systems have the ability to improve our trauma management, this must go hand in hand, however, with a structured and effectively communicated trauma meeting.

Individuals play a significant role to enhance and accelerate the performance of the organizations and hiring right employees, is indeed a challenging task. It is because many people show interest in the single job opening. HR in large organizations, recruits and explores such people by following proper recruitment process. This recruitment process has been proven to be lengthy, tidy and costly because of a substantial number of applicants. Recruitment of suitable individuals becomes more difficult for smaller organizations as they do not have HR department. Automation can improve the process though. By doing this, the process becomes shorter, easier, and cost effective. In that respect several automated recruiting systems have been proposed in the literature. The primary limitation of the existing recruitment systems is that it simply picks out those candidates who meet the (100%) skills set and turns down the rest of them yet if they are meeting the partial criteria. It intends that as these programs have been projected to pick only those who are gathering all the prerequisites. In fact, the recruitment system can select the candidates that are even meeting the near about or close requirements. It is because if a candidate does not meet (100%), then the candidate with the lesser requirement should be kept under consideration. There can be chances where a person meeting 9 out of 10 requirements could have proved to be the best choice, but because of the system we lose such candidates. The current research proposes a Fuzzy logic-based decision support system (DSS), to overcome the above-mentioned limitation. Abiding by the Fuzzy logic, the proposed system can view the partial skills of the applicants. The system has been validated by implementing the prototype. The outcomes depict a significant improvement to overcome the limitation of the existing recruitment systems.

As electronic books and electronic journals have become more prevalent, so too do the number of electronic resources outages related to those resources. This paper, distilled from a presentation delivered at the 2015 American Library Association Midwinter Meeting, describes the implementation of a new tracking system for electronic resources outages at the University of Michigan (UM). It elaborates on the decisions that went into building the system and the insights gleaned from analyzing a year’s worth of outages. It is hoped that such data might better inform decisions related to electronic resources at UM, and that its collection might inspire similar data-driving tracking elsewhere.

An important problem on the way to the development of e-democracy is to ensure citizens' confidence in electronic voting systems. Although there are many cases of implementation of such systems, in all cases, voters must take it on faith that the personnel serving the system will honestly and accurately perform the work. In other words, none of these systems provide voters with sufficient and understandable evidence that the secret of their votes cannot be revealed and the results of the vote count cannot be falsified. It is known that the systems in which citizens perform audits of all those procedures where fraudulent manifestations are possible, enjoy the indisputable trust of voters. Now such systems exist, but they do not use electronic voting. The purpose of this work is to prove and practical confirmation of the possibility of building a system of secret electronic voting on the public Internet with means available to voters for auditing all those processes that may cause distrust during voting. The principles of constructing e-voting systems are analyzed from the point of view of the possibility of ensuring the trust of citizens through complete openness for auditing selected software and hardware solutions. It was with the use of such solutions that the system was built, which was implemented at the Kiev National University of Construction and Architecture for the election of student representatives to the Student Self-Government Council. Also, this system is used to conduct secret voting at meetings of the Academic Council of the University online. An important practical result of this implementation is the elimination of cumbersome manual counting procedures. In the case of the meeting that took place on October 16, 2020, where the number of ballots was 53, although 53 out of 85 members of the Academic Council took part in the vote (six voted with paper ballots), the relief was tangible, because there were 2,491 fewer ballots in the ballot box. In addition, computerized counting is instant and error-free, and the presence of automated auditing eliminates the possibility for any software tampering or unauthorized personnel interference with the server. The main advantage, of course, is that conditions are created to protect against the spread of a viral infection and there is no need to stop the activities of the Scientific Councils during quarantine.

Purpose This study aims to present the findings of the first phase of a project entitled Putting the “Fun” Back in “Functional”, which has been investigating the socio-technical issues surrounding users’ interaction with electronic recordkeeping systems. The ultimate goal of the project is to improve that interaction by positively influencing the way in which individuals perceive their work practices and the tools they use to accomplish them. In its first phase, the project considered the implementation of such systems for the purpose of gaining a better understanding of the factors and processes that contribute to its success. Design/methodology/approach Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 17 public employees from a large provincial government and a large city government in Canada about two information systems (ISs) – a meeting management system and an Electronic Documents and Records Management System. Findings Several salient themes emerged from the research data, including the value accorded to information and records, the implementation of electronic recordkeeping systems as a complex process, the appropriation of electronic recordkeeping systems, understanding users, ease of use and information/records specialists as part of the solution. Analysis of these themes shows that many of them can be explained through theories developed in the IS field. Research limitations/implications The results show that many themes are common across the records management and IS fields. Further, the results indicate the applicability of theories in the IS field to explain and predict the implementation of electronic recordkeeping systems. Originality/value This study is one of few that explicitly draw on IS theories to understand the implementation of electronic recordkeeping systems. The results of this study open up many opportunities for future research on electronic recordkeeping systems.

A DSP based closed-loop system has been developed for wind-driven three-phase Self-Excited Induction Generators (SEIGs) using a diode bridge rectifier (DBR) followed by an IGBT inverter. This system is meant for supplying isolated ac loads with a voltage of constant magnitude and frequency, for any operating condition of varying nature of wind speed and consumer load. The configuration and implementation of this proposed system have been fully described. The detailed method of analysing and predetermining the performance characteristics of such stand-alone systems has also been explained. Test results obtained on an SEIG operated with the controller built in the laboratory, demonstrate the successful working of both the hardware and software of the control scheme and the usefulness of the set-up as a whole for supplying isolated ac loads. With the varying nature of wind speed, a method of meeting the power balance between the wind power available and the load power requirement has also been explained with extensive Simulation studies.

On October 22—23, 2019, the Russian State Library hosted the Annual Meeting of the Heads of Federal and Central Regional Libraries of Russia. The Forum, focused on the analysis of the current state of the library sector and the development of priority areas for its further development, was held for the 26th time. The Meeting was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Library and the National Library of Russia. 294 participants from 57 regions of Russia, including employees of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Main Information Computing Centre (GIVC) of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, regional authorities, heads and specialists of libraries of various levels, universities, publishing houses and corporations attended the Meeting. The broadcasting of the meetings on the website of the Russian Association of Electronic Libraries significantly expanded the number of participants — there were recorded 609 connections.The main theme of the 2019 Meeting is “The National Project “Culture” as the New Stage of Development of Libraries”. The Meeting considered the issues of formation of the Concept of librarianship development in the Russian Federation, the results and prospects of creation of model municipal libraries within the framework of the Federal project “Cultural Environment”, the development of the National Electronic Library (NEL), the formation of the register of book monuments, including the issues of their digitization and inclusion in the NEL in the framework of the Federal project “Digital Culture”, etc.There were announced the results of two competitions: The Third All-Russian Competition of Library Innovations and the Sixth All-Russian Competition “Library Analytics 2019”. The Meeting included sessions of the jury of the All-Russian Competition “Librarian 2019” and the Board of the Russian Library Association. Abstract Accurate display and interpretation of clinical laboratory test results is essential for safe and effective diagnosis and treatment. In an attempt to ascertain how well current electronic health records (EHRs) facilitated these processes, we evaluated the graphical displays of laboratory test results in eight EHRs using objective criteria for optimal graphs based on literature and expert opinion. None of the EHRs met all 11 criteria; the magnitude of deficiency ranged from one EHR meeting 10 of 11 criteria to three EHRs meeting only 5 of 11 criteria. One criterion (i.e., the EHR has a graph with y-axis labels that display both the name of the measured variable and the units of measure) was absent from all EHRs. One EHR system graphed results in reverse chronological order. One EHR system plotted data collected at unequally-spaced points in time using equally-spaced data points, which had the effect of erroneously depicting the visual slope perception between data points. This deficiency could have a significant, negative impact on patient safety. Only two EHR systems allowed users to see, hover-over, or click on a data point to see the precise values of the x–y coordinates. Our study suggests that many current EHR-generated graphs do not meet evidence-based criteria aimed at improving laboratory data comprehension.

This paper addressed the current gaps of the health and safety protocols followed by the health workers and other front-line workers in conducting disinfection of self and personal protective equipment (PPE) after using it. The current disinfection system disinfects surfaces, water, air, materials, utensils, rooms, compartments, foods and other already came in various ways. Some of these include gas disinfecting, alcohol, chlorine, bleach, detergents, steams, hot water, hot gas, chemicals, UV rays and more in which according to them, still poses risk among health workers and front-line workers not during the duty but on the doping and donning of the PPE. The researchers used the Agile Scrum methodology of software development; thus, user stories were collected during stakeholders’ meeting. The meeting includes the researchers, RHU personnel and the front-liners. This allows all the concerned individuals and agencies to express their concern and needs during the donning and doffing process. After the meeting, the researchers decided to develop Hygeia, a system of interconnected electronic devices that aims to automate the disinfection of booths using UVC light as disinfectant. It used the concept of IOT which Arduino Microcontroller, Raspberry Pi, Sensors, Motors, Relay, Switches, Pumps and Water Valves were used to deliver its specified functions. Daily standup meetings were conducted in order to monitor the progress of the project and if it meets the needs of the client before delivering the fully potential product. Public procurement ensures accountability, time, and cost savings in procuring goods, works, and services. All government departments use manual and electronic tendering processes to purchase goods and services. The Roads and Highways Department (RHD) is one of the big public departments designated as the study's target population. Manual and e-procurement tendering systems are used by all RHD procurement entities (PE). However, time and cost reduction are significant challenges in the manual tendering process. Because, it involves a lengthy process for Tender Evaluation Committee (TEC) meeting arrangements. However, no time and cost comparison study of the manual and e-GP tendering processes for TEC meeting arrangement has been done in RHD after e-procurement inception in 2011. This study uses a stratified sampling strategy to compare the time and cost of a manual tendering procedure to an e-tendering approach, targeting RHD PE officers as samples. The independent samples t-test model was used to compare two groups utilizing the mean value of TEC meeting arrangement time and cost of the e-tender system and the manual tender system as a continuous normally distributed variable. This study makes a unique contribution by comparing the time and cost efficiency of two sets of manual and e-tender procurement methods. The e-procurement system, according to the survey results, reduced excessive times and costs at TEC meeting arrangements. The findings will also be used to enhance academic research and to improve e-GP policy requirements.

The main radio equipment used by aviation specialists are communication, radar and radio navigation systems. Training of students in these areas is a complex task that requires significant efforts of lecturer. The article proposes a concept of simulator designing that are supposed to be adopted in the educational process of civil aviation institutions based on hybrid approach to the virtual simulators designing. Such concept was applied in the development of methodology for designing of simulators for flight electronic support, which involves solving the problem of selective structural synthesis. The problem of selective structural synthesis of design solutions is described using a morphological tree and implies finding the graph edge that ensures meeting a set of rules with the constraints specified in the process of specification drawing up, which is replenished by the developer-user. Due to random nature, the structural optimization method implies a sequential search for possible options. A computer-aided system of simulator designing for flight electronic support systems was developed based on the methodology. The development of a computer-aided system of simulator designing for radio communications, radar and navigation equipment makes it possible to provide effective training of future pilots and air traffic control officers.

The development of information technology currently affects people's behavior in transactions. The use of online transactions in Indonesia is growing rapidly. Without direct or face to face meeting in the transaction, the risk of crime in a transaction will increase. The transaction, which was originally a private legal activity, will intersect with the public aspect. Consumers who feel that their rights have been violated can take legal steps through criminal law instruments. As an effort to prevent the occurrence of criminal acts that harm consumers in online transactions, education is needed for the public regarding criminal law aspect in cases of violation of consumer rights. This article is the result of community service activities carried out using the public lecture method through virtual meeting or webinar. The result of this community service activity is an increase in public understanding of the various kinds of criminal acts that can occur in online transactions, the legal arrangements in the Indonesian legal system, and efforts can be made to prevent the emergence of consumer losses in online transactions.
