Анотація:

Dans un contexte économique et environnemental où l’élevage est de plus en plus questionné, la précocité, l’efficience alimentaire et la résilience sont devenus des points d’intérêt majeurs de par leur rôle potentiel pour améliorer l’efficience globale des élevages. Pour explorer ces caractères et les liens qui les unissent dans les systèmes allaitants, une expérimentation de grande envergure a été menée entre 2011 et 2021 sur 650 femelles charolaises. Cette expérimentation se découpait en trois périodes que les animaux effectuaient successivement : l’étude de la précocité sexuelle et de développement, l’étude de l’efficience alimentaire au travers de l’ingéré résiduel à deux ans, puis l’étude de la réponse à un challenge alimentaire (composé d’une phase de restriction et d’une phase de récupération) au cours de la lactation. Cet article regroupe l’ensemble des résultats obtenus. Si la précocité sexuelle définie par l’âge à la puberté est fortement liée à l’environnement (conduite, alimentation…) et notamment à la saison de naissance, l’héritabilité du caractère est néanmoins modérée (0,21 ± 0,08). Elle est également corrélée génétiquement avec un petit poids à la naissance et une forte croissance pré-sevrage. L’efficience alimentaire des animaux de deux ans est peu héritable (0,09 ± 0,08) mais corrélée favorablement avec la précocité. Face au challenge alimentaire, les vaches ont des réponses équilibrées entre perte de production laitière et mobilisation de réserves corporelles mais cette réponse moyenne de la race cache des disparités entre individus. Enfin, les génisses les plus efficientes présentaient des productions laitières amoindries une fois en lactation par rapport à leurs homologues inefficientes (jusqu’à − 0,7 kg de lait par jour en milieu de lactation soit environ 10 % de moins), ainsi que des retours en chaleurs plus long dans le cadre de la restriction alimentaire. Ces résultats promeuvent l’importance de considérer l’efficience sur le long terme en prenant en compte ses différentes composantes et de ne pas réaliser une sélection génétique sur une efficience alimentaire mesurée sur un moment court et unique pendant la phase de croissance.

Cet article fait le point sur les connaissances relatives aux besoins nutritionnels des porcs mâles non castrés chirurgicalement, dans la perspective de mieux valoriser leur potentiel de croissance pour une meilleure efficience alimentaire, tout en veillant à maintenir un faible risque d’odeurs de verrat et à préserver les qualités de la carcasse et de la viande. Les raisons pour lesquelles une alimentation à volonté des mâles entiers doit être privilégiée, plutôt qu’un rationnement alimentaire, avec des aliments plus concentrés en acides aminés, sont présentées, notamment pour optimiser leur potentiel de développement de la masse protéique. Elles s’appliquent également aux porcs mâles immuno-castrés, qui peuvent être nourris comme les mâles entiers jusqu’à la deuxième vaccination contre les odeurs de verrat. Au-delà, leurs besoins en acides aminés essentiels sont nettement inférieurs à ceux des mâles entiers et les apports peuvent être diminués. Le risque d’odeurs de verrat de la viande est un problème crucial pour l’aval qui doit être maîtrisé en amont dans la production de mâles entiers. À cette fin, les impacts de l’incorporation de divers ingrédients alimentaires susceptibles de réduire les teneurs en scatol sont discutés, tant pour ce qui concerne leur efficacité que les mécanismes mis en œuvre. Avec une très faible adiposité de carcasse, les mâles entiers présentent une teneur en lipides intramusculaires inférieure à celle des femelles et des mâles castrés chirurgicalement, ce qui pénalise la qualité organoleptique de la viande. Par ailleurs, les acides gras du tissu adipeux des mâles entiers peuvent être fortement insaturés, ce qui modifie l’aptitude technologique au séchage des produits. La prise en compte de ces critères dans les cahiers des charges peut orienter les recommandations alimentaires.

La vache allaitante utilise près de 70% de l’énergie qu’elle ingère pour son besoin d’entretien. L’importance de cette dépense non productive détermine fortement son efficience d’utilisation de l’énergie. Les nouvelles recommandations alimentaires de l’INRA permettent de mieux quantifier cette dépense non productive afin d’en maîtriser les principaux facteurs de variation. Une base de données a été constituée en regroupant 30 expérimentations, présentant notamment des niveaux alimentaires contrastés (soit au final 101 traitements expérimentaux), menées en stations expérimentales avec des vaches allaitantes. L’Énergie des dépenses non productives (EDNP) exprimée en énergie nette (UFL) a été calculée pour chaque traitement comme la différence entre l’énergie nette ingérée et celles des besoins de lactation, de gestation, et des variations de la masse corporelle par estimation de sa composition chimique. La production de lait moyenne est de 8 kg/jour et prioritaire, quel que soit le niveau alimentaire subit. Estimée par sa composition chimique (respectivement 37 et 21% de lipides), la valeur énergétique de la variation de poids s’élève en moyenne à 2,4 UFL/kg pour les multipares et 1,8 UFL/kg pour les primipares. Les dépenses non productives peuvent s’estimer à partir d’une seule équation dont les variables sont le besoin d’entretien (Eentretien), les conditions d’activité (Iact), la variation de poids (ΔPV) et l’état initial au vêlage (NEC) : EDNP = (Eentretien x Iact) + (0,0073 x ΔPVc x NEC). Le terme interférant (ΔPVc x NEC) traduit les adaptations du métabolisme en situation nutritionnelle contraignante ou pléthorique. Cette quantification nouvelle de l’épargne énergétique associée à la baisse des apports (ou l’inverse) permettra aux éleveurs de mieux gérer l’alimentation de leurs vaches. Les variations de dépenses non productives et leurs nombreux facteurs de variation devront devenir la cible des recherches dans les années à venir.

Le changement climatique entraîne une demande alimentaire croissante, une baisse de la disponibilité de l'eau et des utilisations concurrentes de l'eau. L'agriculture est responsable de 70 % des prélèvements d'eau douce au niveau mondial, principalement pour l’irrigation. Les économies d’eau en irrigation sont donc devenues un besoin urgent. Cet article propose une synthèse des différentes approches envisageables pour réduire la consommation de l’eau à l’échelle de la parcelle et met en évidence que :(1) Réaliser des économies d’eau en irrigation passe par la réduction des pertes en eau, c’est-à-dire par l’amélioration de l’efficience de l’irrigation à la parcelle.(2) Améliorer l’efficience à la parcelle se fait d’abord par les pratiques culturales, en particulier la gestion du sol, qui permet de mieux valoriser l’eau de pluie (et d’irrigation si nécessaire). Cependant, très peu de références sont encore disponibles sur les économies d’eau réalisables à travers ces pratiques.(3) Améliorer l’efficience se fait ensuite par la modernisation des systèmes d’irrigation : changement de système et pilotage de l’irrigation. De nombreux progrès technologiques ont été réalisés pour concevoir des systèmes d’application de l’eau économes ; par contre, les outils de pilotage de l’irrigation sont relativement peu utilisés et de grandes marges de progrès existent encore.

La production et la composition du lait de 31 chèvres locales burundaises ont été déterminées au cours des 84 premiers jours de lactation. Parallèlement, la croissance de 44 nouveau-nés a été étudiée. Le faible rendement laitier de la chèvre locale (440 g/j) est cependant fort variable d'après les individus (167 à 881 g/j). La production laitière culmine entre la 2è et la 3è semaines de lactation et diminue en pente douce par la suite. Elle s'accroît avec l'augmentation du nombre de jeunes allaités et le poids de la mère (p < 0,05) et non avec la parité. Le lait de la chèvre burundaise est plus pauvre en éléments nutritifs que celui des autres races tropicales notamment en matière grasse (3,1 g %) et en lactose (2,8 ± 1,67 g %). Les poids des chevreaux à la naissance (1,54 ± 0,29 kg) et à 28 jours (3,05 ± 0,70 kg) sont faibles comparés à ceux d'autres races caprines tropicales. En revanche, les jeunes ont une meilleure efficience alimentaire au cours du premier mois post-natal (6,04). Leurs faibles performances pondérales pourraient donc être dues à la faible production laitière des mères et/ou à la déficience énergétique dans le lait. Une amélioration génétique de cette production est possible.

Les hampes florales des bananiers, riches en lignocelluloses, font parties des résidus végétaux largement impliqués dans la pollution environnementale à Kinshasa. C’est dans ce contexte que cette recherche a utilisé les champignons lignolytiques Pleurotus sajor-caju dans l’objectif de bio-délignifier des hampes florales des bananiers et de produire des carpophores comestibles de ce champignon. Dans la méthodologie employée, lesdites hampes florales ont été utilisées pour la préparation de quatre types de substrats dans lesquels elles ont représentée 52% (A1), 95,5% (A2), 79,4% (A3) et 45,9% (A4) de la masse sèche totale. Toutes ces préparations ont été inoculées par des mycéliums de Pleurotus sajor-caju, incubées à 28 °C jusqu’à la production des carpophores dudit champignon en vue de déterminer (1) le mélange le plus efficace du point de vue de la durée d’incubation, (2) le rendement en carpophores comestibles et (3) l’efficience biologique des substrats. Les résultats obtenus sont : les durées d’incubation des cultures jusqu’à la production des carpophores ont varié de 45 jours (A4) à 83 jours (A2) ; le rendement en carpophores comestibles et l’efficience biologique obtenus à partir des substrats A1, A3 et A4 ne sont pas significativement différents, tandis que A2 donne les plus faibles valeurs. Cette recherche confirme que les champignons lignolytiques comestibles, dont le Pleurotus sajor-caju fait partie, sont des agents efficaces pour valoriser les déchets d’origine végétale, à la base de la pollution environnementale, dans une perspective de production alimentaire et de lutte contre la malnutrition et l’insécurité alimentaire à Kinshasa.Mots clés: fongique, lignolytique, efficience biologique, valorisation, biodégradation.English Title: Use of the fungus Pleurotus sajor-caju for the delignification of a substrate based on banana flower stalks (Musa spp.) and the production of edible fungiThe floral stalks of the banana trees, rich in lignocelluloses, are parts of the agricultural residues extensively implied in the environmental pollution in Kinshasa. It is in this context that this research used the lignolytic fungus Pleurotus sajor-caju in the objective of bio-delignification of these residues of banana harvest and the production of edible mushroom. As methodology, the floral stalks of banana trees have been used for the preparation of four types of substrate in which they represented 52% (A1), 95.5% (A2), 79.4% (A3) and 45.9% (A4) of the total dry mass. All these four preparations have been inoculated by spawns of Pleurotus sajor-caju, incubated at 28 °C until the production of the carpophores of the aforesaid mushroom in order to determine the most efficient mixture concerning (1) the length of carpophore production, (2) the output in edible carpophores and (3) the biological efficiency of the substrates. The gotten results are: the lengths of incubation of the cultures until the production of the carpophores varied of 45 days (A4) to 83 days (A2); the output in edible carpophores and the biological efficiency gotten from the substrates A1, A3 and A4 are not meaningfully different, while A2 gives the weakest values. This research confirms that the lignolytic edible fungi, whose Pleurotus sajor-caju belongs to, are efficient agents to valorize the vegetable wastes which cause the environmental pollution, in a perspective of food production and struggle against the malnutrition and the food insecurity in Kinshasa.Keywords: fungal, lignolytic, biological efficiency, valorization, biodegradation.

Face au défi majeur de la croissance démographique mondiale, le secteur agricole se doit de concilier une augmentation de la production alimentaire et une diminution de son impact environnemental. L’intégration agriculture-élevage (IAE) mise en œuvre dans les exploitations familiales mixtes à faible niveau d’intrants peut être un moyen d’y parvenir. L’un des grands principes de l’IAE est l’utilisation de ressources produites par les différents ateliers de l’exploitation pour la conduite des autres ateliers. L’IAE se construit autour de trois grandes pratiques : la traction animale, le stockage de fourrage et la production de fumure organique. L’objectif de cette étude a été d’analyser l’effet de ces pratiques sur l’autonomie, le recyclage et l’efficience énergétique des exploitations familiales mixtes. Pour ce faire, les flux d’énergie brute de huit exploitations familiales mixtes de la zone cotonnière de l’ouest du Burkina Faso, suivies sur une période de 20 mois, ont été analysés grâce à la méthode d’analyse de réseau écologique (ecological network analysis [ENA]). Les résultats ont montré que le stockage de fourrage et la production de fumure organique ont permis aux exploitations d’augmenter leur recyclage et leur autonomie, et d’acquérir une meilleure efficience énergétique. La méthode ENA met en lumière les caractéristiques et les performances d’exploitations de différents types (agriculteurs, éleveurs, agroéleveurs) et évalue l’apport des pratiques de l’IAE sur ces performances. Il apparaît cependant qu’il existe des marges de manœuvre sur le niveau de mise en œuvre des pratiques d’IAE dans les exploitations familiales mixtes de la zone cotonnière de l’ouest du Burkina Faso permettant d’améliorer le recyclage de l’énergie.

This study was conducted to evaluate different feeding systems for young Holstein bulls grown from 140 to 525 kg liveweight. In phase I, which lasted 134 d, 184 bulls were assigned to five treatments involving either pasture or silage with different levels of concentrate. In phase II, which lasted until the animals weighed 400 kg, 48 bulls from one pasture treatment and all 96 bulls fed silage in phase I were reassigned, within previous treatments, to subtreatments in which corn silage was supplemented with 0, 250 and 500 g head−1 d−1 of soybean meal. In phase III, which concluded the study, bulls were maintained on corn silage but reassigned, as in phase II, to treatments involving a restricted (5 kg) or ad libitum supplement of barley. In phase I, increasing the level of concentrates up to 3 kg head−1 d−1 for bulls on pasture increased their growth rate but was not associated with improved dry matter intake or feed efficiency. Bulls gained weight faster and were more efficient on pasture than on silage, when their diet was supplemented with 1 kg concentrate. In phase II, gain and feed efficiency were improved by 50 and 28% respectively, by supplementing corn silage with 500 g of soybean meal per head and per day. In phase III, an improvement of 17% in feed efficiency was recorded for bulls fed barley ad libitum rather than at a restricted level. Generally, superior performance in phases II and III was made by bulls whose performance had been restricted in the previous phase. Bulls started on pasture, supplemented with 1 kg concentrate daily, then fed corn silage, supplemented with 500 g soybean meal head−1day−1 in phase II, gained between 920 and 960 g daily over the entire study and this performance was comparable to bulls started on grass-legume silage provided with a concentrate supplemented ad libitum in phase I, regardless of treatment applied with corn silage in phases II or III. The effects of varying dietary energy levels with same protein level on growth performance, carcass traits and economy of broiler chickens fed straight diets was evaluated. Diets were compounded and labeled diets 1, 2, 3 and 4 with Metabolizable Energy (ME) levels of 2800, 3000, 3200 and 3400 kcal/KgDM, respectively with a constant protein level of 24 %. 120 1- old chicks were randomly allocated to the four dietary treatments with 30 birds per treatment. Each treatment was replicated 3 times and each replicate had 10 birds. The birds were fed experimental diets for 7 weeks. Significant differences (p<0.05) were observed in daily feed intake, energy efficiency ratio, daily ME intake, cost of feed intake/kg body weight gain and % weights of drumstick, shank, breast and wing. The initial body weight, daily body weight gain, final body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, protein efficiency ratio and other carcass traits were similar (p>0.05). It was concluded that feeding broiler chicken with diet containing 2800kcalME/kgDM and 24 % crude protein for 7 weeks gave optimal performance with the least cost of feed intake per Kg body weight gain, least feed conversion ratio and highest gross margin (profit). Les effets de différents niveaux d'énergie alimentaire avec le même niveau de protéines sur les performances de croissance, les caractéristiques des carcasses et l'économie des poulets de chair nourris avec des régimes simples ont été évalués. Les régimes ont été composés et étiquetés régimes 1, 2, 3 et 4 avec des niveaux d'énergie métabolisable (EM) de 2 800, 3 000, 3 200 et 3 400 kcal/KgMS, respectivement avec un niveau de protéines constant de 24 %. 120 poussins d'un an ont été répartis au hasard entre les quatre traitements alimentaires, à raison de 30 oiseaux par traitement. Chaque traitement a été répété 3 fois et chaque répétition concernait 10 oiseaux. Les oiseaux ont été nourris avec des régimes expérimentaux pendant 7 semaines. Des différences significatives (p <0,05) ont été observées dans la consommation alimentaire quotidienne, le rapport d'efficacité énergétique, la consommation quotidienne d'EM, le coût de la consommation alimentaire/kg de gain de poids corporel et le pourcentage de poids du pilon, du jarret, de la poitrine et de l'aile. Le poids corporel initial, le gain de poids corporel quotidien, le gain de poids corporel final, le taux de conversion alimentaire, le taux d'efficacité protéique et les autres caractéristiques de la carcasse étaient similaires (p > 0,05). Il a été conclu que nourrir des poulets de chair avec un régime contenant 2 800 kcalME/kgMS et 24 % de protéines brutes pendant 7 semaines donnait des performances optimales avec le moindre coût de consommation alimentaire par kg de gain de poids corporel, le plus faible taux de conversion alimentaire et la marge brute (bénéfice) la plus élevée.

Many of the world's largest agribusinesses and their NGO grantees have launched an aggressive public relations offensive claiming highly capitalized monocropping is the only food regime with the production efficiencies needed to both protect the environment and feed a growing population. We critique the proposition as the latest evolution in declensionist greenwashing. In the context of a new land rush in Africa, where 60% of the world's undeveloped farmland remains, Big Food apologias are shifting from what have long been defensive maneuvers covering for the sector's destructive practices to brazen rationalizations such practices are the sole means of saving the planet. The narrative seeks to justify devolving food security into the hands of a small cartel of agricultural conglomerates pressured by the kind of land loss and environmental damage the industry helped bring about in the first place. There are eminently viable alternatives, however. Communal projects in conservation agriculture embody living refutations of the agribusiness program. With the right state support, these latter efforts, some already feeding millions, are in a demonstrably better position to sustainably feed and employ local populations, support broad food sovereignty, and protect wildlife, health and the environment for generations to come. Understanding the effects of different feed ingredients incorporated into livestock feed and the demand for nutritious and sustainable food sources necessitate the need to explore alternative feed options for livestock. Evaluating the potential benefits of incorporating African Yam Bean (AYB) into snail diets is crucial in optimizing feed efficiency and enhancing the profitability of Snail farming. The study was designed to determine the effect of African Yam Bean meal (AYB), an underutilized legume in the diet of snails on dressing percentage, texture, flavor, general acceptability, protein and fat contents of the meat. 120 growing snails with mean weight of 73.42 ± 2.5g were used for the feeding trial. 4 diets were formulated to contain African Yam Beans (AYB) at 0% (AYB1) Control, 50% (AYB2), 75% (AYB3) and 100% (AYB4) as replacement for soya bean fraction in the diet. Complete Randomized Design was used for the trial; each treatment was replicated thrice with 10 snails per replicate. Carcass evaluation (dressing percentage, texture, flavor, general acceptability, protein and fat contents of the meat among others) were carried out at the end of the 120 days feeding trial. The dressing percentage of the snails was not significantly influenced by dietary treatments (P>0.05) and varied between 44.43 and 45.34%. The offal live weight and shell live weight percent were not significantly influenced by the varying inclusion of AYB in the diet (P>0.05). There were no significant difference in the crude protein (CP), taste of the meat, color, flavor, texture of the meat and general acceptability of the meat (P> 0.05). The Physico-chemical qualities of the meat were not affected by the inclusion of AYB in the diet. African Yam Bean meal could therefore be harnessed as alternative feed ingredient to Soyabean meal for snail. Comprendre les effets des différents ingrédients alimentaires incorporés dans l’alimentation du bétail et la demande de sources alimentaires nutritives et durables nécessitent d’explorer des options alternatives d’alimentation du bétail. L'évaluation des avantages potentiels de l'incorporation de haricots igname africains (HIA) dans l'alimentation des escargots est cruciale pour optimiser l'efficacité alimentaire et améliorer la rentabilité de l'élevage d'escargots. L'étude a été conçue pour déterminer l'effet de la farine haricots igname africains (HIA), une légumineuse sous-utilisée dans l'alimentation des escargots, sur le pourcentage de vinaigrette, la texture, la saveur, l'acceptabilité générale, la teneur en protéines et en matières grasses de la viande. 120 escargots en croissance d'un poids moyen de 73,42 ± 2,5 g ont été utilisés pour l'essai d'alimentation. Quatre régimes ont été formulés pour contenir des haricots igname africains (HIA) à 0 % (HIA1) témoin, 50 % (HIA2), 75 % (HIA3) et 100 % (HIA4) en remplacement de la fraction de soja dans l'alimentation. Un plan randomisé complet a été utilisé pour l'essai ; chaque traitement a été répété trois fois avec 10 escargots par répétition. L'évaluation des carcasses (pourcentage de vinaigrette, texture, saveur, acceptabilité générale, teneur en protéines et en matières grasses de la viande, entre autres) a été réalisée à la fin de l'essai d'alimentation de 120 jours. Le pourcentage de dressage des escargots n'était pas significativement influencé par les traitements alimentaires (P > 0,05) et variait entre 44,43 et 45,34 %. Le poids vif des abats et le pourcentage du poids vif des coquilles n'étaient pas significativement influencés par l'inclusion variable de HIA dans le régime alimentaire (P > 0,05). Il n'y avait pas de différence significative dans la protéine brute (PB), le goût de la viande, la couleur, la saveur, la texture de la viande et l'acceptabilité générale de la viande (P> 0,05). Les qualités physico-chimiques de la viande n’ont pas été affectées par l’inclusion de HIA dans l’alimentation. La farine d'igname africaine pourrait donc être exploitée comme ingrédient alimentaire alternatif à la farine de soja pour les escargots.

Il faut remonter loin dans les archives de l’INRA, et plus précisément au numéro spécial du « Bulletin du CRZV de Theix » datant de l’année 1974 pour trouver un ouvrage entièrement dédié aux « vaches allaitantes »1. Quarante-trois ans plus tard, c’est avec plaisir que nous présentons ce nouveau dossier dans la revue INRA Productions Animales qui leur est entièrement consacré. Un tel regroupement d’articles sur cet animal et ce système d’élevage est donc assez rare et nous remercions chaleureusement les animateurs de la revue de l’avoir initié. Le numéro de 1974 constatait le développement soutenu des troupeaux allaitants en France qui accompagnait la tendance à la spécialisation des systèmes de production tant vers le lait que vers la viande. Les travaux de recherches engagés mettaient en avant les spécificités de ce système peu étudié jusque-là : la productivité de la femelle, biologiquement limitée à un veau par an, impose une stratégie générale de réduction des charges et des coûts de production et par là une maximisation de l’utilisation de l’herbe dans le système fourrager. Ils se démarquaient alors des travaux réalisés sur les vaches laitières. Et pour produire efficacement de la viande, disposer d’animaux tardifs de grands formats est un atout important par la capacité qu’ils ont à déposer efficacement de la masse musculaire. Les objectifs de sélection proposés alors ont ciblé le potentiel de croissance des veaux tout en améliorant les facilités de vêlage des vaches et le format des carcasses des vaches de réforme. Ces connaissances, développées par des chercheurs de renommée2, ont porté leurs fruits et accompagné la transformation constante du cheptel Français : le nombre de vaches allaitantes a presque été multiplié par deux (4,2 millions actuellement en France). Il est supérieur à celui des vaches laitières depuis l’année 2005 et la production de viande qui en est issue avoisine désormais 65% de la production nationale. Les vaches ont grandi et grossi (+ 5kg /an en moyenne), mais les troupeaux également. La productivité par travailleur a plus que doublé (Veysset et al 20153) sans que la productivité numérique des vaches n’en pâtisse trop. Mais cette réussite quantitative flagrante marque le pas, et ne suffit plus pour aborder sereinement l’avenir de la production. Au niveau des exploitations de nombreux signaux défavorables se sont allumés. Les revenus des éleveurs stagnent et restent parmi les plus bas des professions agricoles. L’image de l’élevage se dégrade dans notre société urbanisée. Les bovins en général sont aussi interrogés sur leur bilan environnemental qui est sujet à controverses, et désormais c’est la finalité première de production de viande de ces troupeaux allaitants qui est en débat. Ces constats sont maintenant bien connus, et rappelés brièvement dans les introductions des articles de M. Lherm et al, et d’A. Cerles et al. Ils provoquent des inquiétudes grandissantes à tous les niveaux de la filière. Que peuvent apporter aux débats en cours les recherches récentes ciblées vers les vaches allaitantes ? C’estce qui a motivé la réalisation de ce dossier qui vise à rassembler et synthétiser les connaissances récentes acquises, d’une part, à l’échelle de l’animal, et, d’autre part à celle du système de production.Pour introduire ce dossier, l’article de M. Lherm et al met en perspective les évolutions des « élevages allaitants » dans les quatre principaux pays européens producteurs : France, Royaume-Uni, Irlande et Espagne. L’analyse des trajectoires technico-économiques des élevages allaitants au cours des dernières décennies dans ces quatre pays montre que les choix d’investissements, de mécanisation, et d’agrandissement des structures n’ont pas été partout semblables. Ensuite, ce dossier fait le point des avancées dans les disciplines et dans les onnaissances zootechniques de base pour la conduite des élevages bovins allaitants : l’amélioration génétique, la physiologie de lareproduction, les facteurs de variation de la production de lait des mères, la quantification de leurs besoins nutritionnels et de leur efficience alimentaire. L’article de L. Griffon et al discute de ce que l’on peut attendre des nouveaux outils génétique comme la génomique, et comment ils vont s’intégrer dans les nouveaux schémas d’amélioration. Les nouvelles connaissances physiologiques pour la maîtrise de la reproduction, pour la prévision de la courbe de lactation et pour la maîtrise de l’alimentation des vaches allaitantes sont détaillées successivement dans les articles de B. Grimard et al, de B. Sepchat et al et d’A. De La Torre et J. Agabriel. Ils fournissent de nouveaux indicateurs sur les aptitudes des animaux dont l’élevage du futur a besoin : robustesse, autonomie, efficience. Autant de propositions pour de nouvelles mesures de routine qui participeront à la détermination des nouveaux phénotypes. L’article de M. Doreau et al éclaire le débat sur l’empreinte environnementale de l’élevage allaitant en synthétisant les connaissances actuelles permettant d’établir le bilan de ses impacts positifs et négatifs. Les controverses sur le besoin en eau, les rejets de gaz à effet de serre ou d’azote pour produire un kg de boeuf par exemple, sont encore très fortes et nécessitent des apports scientifiques de fond pour les apaiser. Même s’il est acquis qu’élevage allaitant et prairie sont liés, et que ce lien conforterait une image favorable auprès des citoyens comme auprès des consommateurs, les interrogations sociétales demandent des réponses. Les travaux en cours permettent de les affiner. Enfin, l’article d’A. Cerles et al qui clôt ce dossier pose les fondements des futurs possibles pour l’élevage bovin allaitant à partir d’un travail de prospective pour les filières viandes réalisé sur le territoire du Massif central qui analyse les conséquences de cinq scénarios contrastés prenant en compte de puissants déterminants comme le changement climatique, l’évolution de la consommation de viande, les politiques agricoles et environnementales4. La bonne utilisation des surfaces herbagères, la maîtrise complète de la qualité des viandes sont de points incontournables à travailler dans les années à venir, et les acteurs devront faire émerger ensemble les opportunités de projets qui les aideront à avancer. Nous sommes persuadés que ces divers sujets par la manière exhaustive et synthétique dont ils ont été traités dans ce dossier, aideront les lecteurs dans leurs recherches personnelles et à se forger leur propre expertise. La sélection génétique de l’efficience alimentaire est un outil pour améliorer la rentabilité des élevages allaitants. Jusqu’à présent, une évaluation génétique de ce caractère était réalisée en station de contrôle individuel (CI) à partir d’un aliment complet condensé, peu utilisé dans les élevages. L’objectif de cette étude est donc de vérifier si cette sélection est pertinente pour améliorer l’efficience alimentaire dans les élevages, dans un contexte où une même population allaitante doit être à la fois efficiente avec des animaux en croissance alimentés avec des rations fourragères ou des rations concentrées. Pour cela, les populations mâle et femelle du dispositif BEEFALIM 2020 ont été utilisées ainsi que la population de taureaux Charolais passés en stations de CI. Trois critères d’efficience alimentaire ont été utilisés : la consommation moyenne journalière résiduelle (CMJR), le gain moyen quotidien résiduel (GMQR) et le ratio d’efficience alimentaire (EA). Des estimations de paramètres génétiques ont été réalisées pour appréhender les relations génétiques de l’efficience alimentaire entre les populations étudiées. Concernant la voie mâle, une interaction génotype x milieu sur la CMJR existerait, qui pourrait donc entrainer un progrès génétique plus faible concernant la sélection de ce caractère. Il serait donc pertinent de phénotyper à partir de fourrage pour diminuer cette interaction. Concernant les génisses, la précision des estimations est limitée en raison du faible nombre de génisses phénotypées et du fait que celles-ci étaient phénotypées à l’âge de deux ans et avaient donc des croissances moindres et moins comparables aux mâles phénotypés plus jeunes.

In the face of increasing demand for food by man and animals and the cost of conventional feed ingredients it has become overwhelmingly imperative source for alternative feeding sources that have no direct usage to man and can ameliorate the cost of production. On this, a 70-day study was carried out to determine the influence of Carica papaya aqueous leaf extract (CPALE) on the blood characteristics and performance of growing rabbits. The experiment was done in a complete randomized design (CRD) using 24 growing rabbits of New Zealand White breed. Treatment 1 (control) had no CPALE while experimental extracts were administered to treatments 2, 3 and 4 in the following proportions; 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 (100, 200 and 300mls) respectively per litre of distilled water. Other dietary feed ingredients were supplied on weight equalization basis. Result from haematology revealed that there were significant (P<0.05) differences on the PCV, WBC, MCV and MCHC while Hb, RBC and MCH were not significantly (P>0.05) affected by the dietary treatment. The serological indices assayed were all significantly (P<0.05) affected except creatinine which was not affected by the treatment diet. Similarly, the performance result revealed significant (P<0.05) differences on the average live weight, total weight gain and daily weight gain while other parameters such as total feed consumed, daily feed consumed, feed conversion ratio and protein efficiency ratio were not significantly (P<0.05) influenced by the treatment diets. Conclusively, treatment diets performed better than the control diet and the blood characteristics assayed were within range as there was no indication of diseases traceable to the blood parameters. Face à la demande croissante de nourriture par l’homme et les animaux et au coût des ingrédients alimentaires conventionnels, il est devenu extrêmement impératif de recourir à des sources d’alimentation alternatives qui n’ont pas d’utilité directe pour l’homme et peuvent réduire le coût de production. Sur ce point, une étude de 70 jours a été réalisée pour déterminer l'influence de l'extrait aqueux de feuilles de Carica papaya (EAFCP) sur les caractéristiques sanguines et les performances des lapins en croissance. L'expérience a été réalisée selon un plan randomisé complet (PRC) utilisant 24 lapins en croissance de race blanche de Nouvelle-Zélande. Le traitement 1 (témoin) ne comportait pas de EAFCP alors que des extraits expérimentaux ont été administrés aux traitements 2, 3 et 4 dans les proportions suivantes : 0,1, 0,2 et 0,3 (100, 200 et 300 ml) respectivement par litre d'eau distillée. D'autres ingrédients alimentaires diététiques ont été fournis sur une base d'égalisation du poids. Les résultats de l'hématologie ont révélé qu'il y avait des différences significatives (P < 0,05) sur le PCV, les WBC, le MCV et le MCHC, tandis que l'Hb, le RBC et le MCH n'étaient pas affectés de manière significative (P > 0,05) par le traitement diététique. Les indices sérologiques dosés étaient tous significativement (P<0,05) affectés sauf la créatinine qui n'était pas affectée par le régime alimentaire de traitement. De même, le résultat de performance a révélé des différences significatives (P <0,05) sur le poids vif moyen, le gain de poids total et le gain de poids quotidien, tandis que d'autres paramètres tels que l'aliment total consommé, l'aliment consommé quotidiennement, le taux de conversion alimentaire et le rapport d'efficacité protéique n'étaient pas significatifs (P < 0,05). P <0,05) influencé par les régimes alimentaires. En conclusion, les régimes de traitement ont donné de meilleurs résultats que le régime témoin et les caractéristiques sanguines analysées étaient dans les limites car il n'y avait aucune indication de maladies imputables aux paramètres sanguins.

Climate change is a very relevant and worrying topic today and is present in the agendas of different spheres of society. High concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHGs) are released into the atmosphere, causing global temperatures to rise. In agricultural production, methane (CH4) is considered one of the highest GHG emissions, causing a negative impact on natural resources and accelerating climate change. In the coming years, with the increase in the world population, food production should be implemented in self-sufficient, quality, and sustainable production systems to meet the need for high consumption. The reduction in CH4 production is related to the better efficiency of energy use of the feed by the animals; therefore, the knowledge of the ruminal fermentation parameters, identification of the ruminal microbiota, and selection of more efficient animals, with lower consumption and greater weight gain, in addition to producing less GHGs like CH4, have a less negative impact on the environment and are economically viable. This review presents some aspects of selection for feed efficiency in sheep as a strategy to mitigate GHG emission and some techniques for measuring these gases.

The effective functioning of all body systems is mostly determined by many essential substances that act as activators of metabolic reactions. Their diet deficiency leads to violations of alimentary nature homeostasis, exacerbated by environmental, social, and economic factors. This study aimed to compare antihypoxant properties nutrients of the vegetable and animal origin, their impact on respiratory and transport parameters of gas exchange, as criteria for the energy balance of the body, and the assessment of probiotic factor in improving the antihypoxant properties of targeted biologically active substances. The increase in the efficiency of gas exchange was evaluated on the example of students and teachers of an engineering university at ages from 16 to 65 in daily consumption of food products with known biocorrective properties: wheat germ oil (WGO), wheat germ oil meal (WGOM), concentrated tissue fish oil (CTFO) and their combinations with the biomass of the lacto- and Bifidus bacteria consortium. The change of energy efficiency of the nutritional status was assessed based on the analysis of the carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2) concentration in the exhaled gas-air mixture and the level of hemoglobin (SpO2). Their values were recorded before and after the daily consumption of the tested products for 30 days. The average values of parameters in all age groups have demonstrated that the most effective antihypoxant is the wheat germ oil meal. A combination of biocorrectors under investigation with active forms of probiotic microorganisms provides a more active antihypoxant effect for all products under investigation in all age groups. The obtained data make it possible to state the possibility of an operational alimentary impact on gas exchange efficiency and prove the antihypoxant properties of WGO, WGOM, CTFO, and the synergetic effect of their combination with probiotic microorganisms in the active form.

This study was aimed at assessing the dietary utilization of processed goat blood rumen content mixture (GBRCM) with phytogenic plant supplementation for broiler chicken production. One hundred and twenty broiler chickens were allotted to three experimental diets in a completely randomized design to determine the effect of feeding supplemental phytogenic plant in a processed GBRCM based-diets on growth, haematological parameters and serum biochemical indices of broiler chicken. Each group was replicated four times with ten birds per replicate and the experiment lasted for five weeks. The parameters evaluated were body weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, protein intake, protein efficiency ratio, blood parameter. Results revealed that birds fed phytogenic plant supplemented diets had significantly (p<0.05) higher body weight gain, increased feed intake than those on unsupplemented and the control diets. The higher feed intakes obtained in supplemented diets revealed improved flavor, taste, and acceptability of the feed and increased appetite of the birds. There was no significant (p>0.05) difference in the parameters of the birds fed the control diet (T ) and diet (T ). The haematological and serum biochemistry indices revealed 1 2that there were significant (P<0.05) differences among the treatments, except white blood cell count where no significant (P>0.05) difference existed. Birds fed control diet had significantly higher(p<0.05) cholesterol level than those fed diets GBRCM. The goat blood rumen content mixture based-diet supplemented with phytogenic plant could be included in the broiler chickens diets up to 10% goat blood rumen content mixture with 0.5g/kg rosemary without any adverse effect on performance. Cette étude visait à évaluer l'utilisation alimentaire du mélange de contenu de rumen de sang de chèvre transformé (CRSCT) avec une supplémentation en plantes phytogéniques pour la production de poulets à griller. Cent vingt poulets à griller ont été répartis dans trois régimes expérimentaux dans une conception complètement randomisée pour déterminer l'effet de l'alimentation supplémentaire de plantes phytogéniques dans un régime à base de CRSCT transformé sur la croissance, les paramètres hématologiques et les indices biochimiques sériques du poulet à griller. Chaque groupe a été répété quatre fois avec dix oiseaux par répétition et l'expérience a duré cinq semaines. Les paramètres évalués étaient le gain de poids corporel, l'apport alimentaire, l'indice de conversion alimentaire, l'apport protéique, le taux d'efficacité protéique, le paramètre sanguin. Les résultats ont révélé que les oiseaux nourris avec des régimes complétés par des plantes phytogéniques avaient un gain de poids corporel significativement (p <0,05) plus élevé, une consommation alimentaire accrue que ceux des régimes non supplémentés et des régimes témoins. Les apports alimentaires plus élevés obtenus dans les régimes supplémentés ont révélé une amélioration de la saveur, du goût et de l'acceptabilité de l'aliment et une augmentation de l'appétit des oiseaux. Il n'y avait pas de différence significative (p>0,05) dans les paramètres des oiseaux nourris avec le régime témoin (T1 ) et le régime (T2 ). Les indices hématologiques et biochimiques sériques ont révélé qu'il existait des différences significatives (P<0,05) entre les traitements, à l'exception du nombre de globules blancs où aucune différence significative (P>0,05) n'existait. Les oiseaux nourris avec un régime témoin avaient un taux de cholestérol significativement plus élevé (p<0,05) que ceux nourris avec un régime CRSCT. Le régime à base de mélange de contenu de sang de chèvre dans le rumen complété avec des plantes phytogéniques pourrait être inclus dans les régimes des poulets de chair jusqu'à 10 % de mélange de contenu de sang de chèvre dans le rumen avec 0,5 g/kg de romarin sans aucun effet négatif sur les performances.

Obtaining the radiation-hygiene safe products in the case of a large-scale nuclear accident, is a serious problem. The efficient way to solve this problem, and also to prevent human contamination through the food chain, is using efficient radioprotectors. Having in mind that so far research work concerned alimentary Cs-contamination of domestic animals, our aim was to investigate the radioprotector possibilities of clinoptilolit. As experimental animals we used pheasants from the species Phasianus colchicus. Every animal was simultaneously given water solution of 137Cs and radioprotector Clinoptilolit. The level of contamination was determined by gamma - spectrometry in light meat, dark meat, liver and gizzard. The best effect of protection was achieved (78 - 84%) for dark, light meat and liver, than for gizzard (22 - 37%).

Avant-propos La demande mondiale en produits d’origine animale est en forte expansion1 et l’élevage est l’une des activités agricoles les plus fortement créatrices d’emploi et de valeur ajoutée, tant au niveau de la production et des services qu’elle utilise, que des filières de produits animaux. Mais dans le même temps, l’élevage doit faire face à des enjeux sociétaux qui nécessitent des évolutions importantes dans les modes de production : besoin de compétitivité encore accru, méthodes d’élevage contestées vis-à-vis des atteintes à l’environnement, du respect du bien-être animal et de l’usage des médicaments. Il s’agit de réfléchir ces défis au niveau européen et mondial. Produire plus, mieux et à moindre coût doit contribuer à assurer la sécurité alimentaire mondiale et à répondre aux attentes européennes en termes de systèmes de production et de marchés très diversifiés. L’Europe a ici une responsabilité toute particulière car si elle ne peut pas nourrir le monde, il est de sa responsabilité, en tant que région où la demande sociale est aujourd’hui la plus élevée, de montrer comment concilier production et environnement. Outre les innovations et les adaptations des systèmes d’élevage (cf. Numéro spécial de la revue « Quelles innovations pour quels systèmes d’élevage ? », Ingrand S., Baumont R. (Eds). INRA Prod. Anim., 27, 2), les réponses passent aussi par la recherche d’animaux qui soient d’une part, plus efficients pour transformer leur ration et plus faciles à élever dans une large gamme de conditions climatiques et de systèmes d’élevage et, d’autre part, adaptables face à des aléas climatiques, sanitaires ou économiques tout en préservant la santé, le bien-être et la qualité des produits. Par le passé, la recherche de la maximisation des performances de production (ex : vitesse de croissance, quantité de lait par lactation…) a conduit à des animaux de plus en plus spécialisés. Dans la plupart des filières, cette maximisation s’est accompagnée d’une dégradation des autres aptitudes d’élevage, aujourd’hui source d’inefficience en élevage. La recherche d’une plus grande robustesse (définie comme la capacité pour un animal d’exprimer son potentiel de production dans une large gamme d’environnements sans pour autant compromettre sa santé et son bien-être) devient une priorité. Dans le même temps,l’accès à des techniques d’exploration fonctionnelle toujours plus performantes, les innovations en cours d’appropriation ou à venir dans le domaine de la génomique ouvrent des perspectives d’investigation nouvelles plus précises. Dans ce contexte d’évolution des demandes et des possibilités d’investigation, les projets de recherche en sciences animales doivent être plus systémiques, prédictifs et permettre d’établir des relations fonctionnelles de plus en plus fines entre le phénotype des animaux, leur génotype et le milieu dans lequel il s'exprime. Face au développement spectaculaire des connaissances sur le génome, il y a un manque criant de connaissances sur l’expression des phénotypes, connaissances qui devraient permettre de répondre au mieux à une double finalité en termes d’exploitation de la variabilité des aptitudes animales : i) une sélection éclairée vers des objectifs majeurs pour améliorer l’efficience de la production et la robustesse des génotypes, et ii) un élevage de précision qui valorise la variabilité individuelle des animaux pour gagner en efficience et en résilience à l’échelle du troupeau, ou pour améliorer la conduite des animaux d’un génotype donné. En effet, d’un coté les progrès réalisés par la sélection génomique permettent aujourd’hui de repenser les critères de sélection et de les diversifier tout en raccourcissant les délais entre la définition des objectifs et l’amélioration effective des cheptels, mais cette sélection entraine de nouveaux besoins de phénotypage car elle nécessite la caractérisation d’unepopulation de référence. D’un autre coté, la connaissance plus fine de l’animal associée aux technologies en émergence de l’élevage de précision permettra de mieux piloter la conduite d’élevage pour améliorer l’efficience de l’alimentation ou de la reproduction par une approche individuelle à l’animal, ainsi que par la production d’alertes à destination de l’éleveur pour un diagnostic précoce des troubles permettant d’anticiper les ajustements requis. Le phénotypage est ainsi l’un des principaux défis que doit relever les recherches en production animale et a été reconnu comme tel par l’INRA. Deux types de phénotypage peuvent être envisagés : le phénotypage des caractères d’intérêt socio-économique et le phénotypage de caractères plus élémentaires. Les phénotypes d’intérêt socio-économique constituent la finalité recherchée. Ils résultent de mécanismes faisant appel à des régulations complexes, ils sont d’autant plus onéreux à mesurer qu’il s’agit de critères zootechniques qui doivent être observés sur des pas de temps longs. La recherche de phénotypes plus élémentaires et plus proches du mécanisme causal rend plus facile l’identification des gènes responsables. Ce phénotypage fin implique de réaliser des mesures particulièrement approfondies et à des échelles élémentaires (au niveau moléculaire, cellulaire, tissulaire…) des caractéristiques biologiques de l’animal qui expliquent un phénotype complexe observé à l’échelle de l’animal. Le phénotypage à haut débit signifie qu’une méthode de mesure des phénotypes fiable, automatisable et rapide est établie de sorte que le processus de mesure permette de générer un grand nombre de données dans un laps de temps court. Le haut débit peut s’appliquer au phénotypage fin tout comme à celui des caractères d’intérêt zootechnique. Les contributions significatives qui pourront être attendues d’un phénotypage animal fin et à haut débit concernent la biologie prédictive, à savoir la prédiction des performances à partir de caractères simples observables précocement, nécessaire notamment à la gestion des produits, à la conduite de l’élevage et à la sélection animale. Ce dossier propose le fruit d’une réflexion globale des chercheurs de l’INRA sur les perspectives qu’offre le phénotypage des animaux pour répondre aux enjeux des productions animales. Cette réflexion a eu pour objectif de définir les grands enjeux de connaissance autour du phénotypage animal et de faire émerger les questions de recherches prioritaires, transversales ou spécifiques aux différentes filières animales ainsi que les verrous techniques qui sont soulevés. Cette réflexion a été conduite par un groupe de douze chercheurs2 des départements de « Génétique Animale », « Physiologie Animale et Systèmes d’Elevage » et « Santé Animale » travaillant dans des disciplines et sur des espèces variées, missionné par la Direction Scientifique Agriculture de l’INRA. La réflexion de ce groupe s’est appuyée sur celle d’un collectif plus large de chercheurs INRA travaillant sur les animaux d’élevage par le biais d’un séminaire organisé en mai 2013 ainsi que par la rédaction partagée des articles de ce dossier. L’amélioration de la robustesse des animaux d’élevage étant un objectif central, le premier article de ce dossier développe une approche systémique de la robustesse des animaux d’élevage pour répondre au mieux à une double finalité en termes d’exploitation de la variabilité des aptitudes animales pour la sélection et pour la conduite de l’élevage. Les recherches sur le phénotypage doivent être accompagnées d’une ontologie générique c’est-à-dire d’une représentation et d’un langage communs pour partager les données et les connaissances, ainsi que l’explicite le second article de ce numéro. L’objet des trois synthèses suivantes est de mettre en perspective les fronts de science (phénotypage du microbiote intestinal), les enjeux de connaissance et les verrous techniques encore à lever pour permettre des productions animales de qualité (phénotypage de la qualité des produits) et en quantité (phénotypage de l’efficacité alimentaire), à moindres coûts économique et environnemental. 1 Selon la FAO et l’OCDE, la progression de la consommation de protéines d’origine animale sur la planète devrait se poursuivre au rythme de + 2 à + 3%/an au cours de cette décennie. Sur la période 2000-2050, la consommation totale des viandes devrait progresser de l’ordre de + 70% pour une population en augmentation de + 20%. Selon les mêmes sources et pour la même période la consommation de lait et produits laitiers dans les pays émergents devrait passer de 45 à 78 kg par habitant.

Sugarcane is an important cash crop cultivated globally from temperate to tropical regions. Improving cane yield and recovery sustainably is an important research area for improving livelihoods of the cane farmers. Among different approaches sill judicious and integrated use of nutrients as per plant needs holds the special place. Further, applying need based N management through optical gadgets viz. Leaf color chart (LCC), SPAD, Green seeker, integrated nutrient management, fertigation, special focus on for improving the efficiency of different fertilizers through different state of art technologies. For having higher fertilizer use efficiency in sugarcane, some aspects of fertilization especially How much? What type of? When to add? Is it worth? Number of splits? Mode of action? must be considered both for seed or ratoon. Further, soil textural class and climatic conditions on one side while on changing climatic conditions also affected it a lot. Further, inherent fertility status of the soils is also an important factor which affects the fate of applied fertilizers. There is a need to create awareness in between the farmers for not to applying huge quantity of different fertilizers as per their neighboring farmers, rather farmer should be smart enough to adopt different technologies in a smart way for having better benefits and thus livelihoods as the purpose is to fed the canes but not the soil. In the present review an attempt being made to compare the comparative performance of sugarcane with respect to fertilization for finally guiding the sugarcane cultivars. Idea is to enlighten them regarding need based sustainable fertilization with an aim to improve the fertilizer use efficiencies for having improved yield and quality parameters instead of loading the soil with much of fertilizers which further have environmental concerns.

Este trabalho avaliou a eficiência alimentar e a qualidade proteica das sementes de baru e pequi nativas do Cerrado brasileiro. Ratos Wistar machos, recém-desmamados (n = 24), distribuídos em quatro grupos, foram alimentados com diferentes dietas, contendo 10% de proteína: padrão (caseína, 7% de lipídios); controle (caseína, 15% de lipídios); baru (semente de baru, 15% de lipídios) e pequi (semente de pequi, 15% de lipídios). Determinaram-se os teores proteicos e lipídicos e estimou-se o teor de fibra alimentar total das dietas. A eficiência alimentar foi avaliada pelo Fator de Conversão Alimentar (FCA), e o valor proteico, por meio do PER (Protein Efficiency Ratio). O FCA variou de 2,8 (dieta padrão) a 10,5 (dieta de semente de pequi); e a dieta de semente de baru (FCA = 5,17) foi mais eficiente do que a dieta de semente de pequi. O valor de PER da semente de baru (2,11) foi superior ao da semente de pequi (1,0), e os valores de RPER (qualidade proteica relativa) dessas sementes foram, respectivamente, de 70% e 30%. A semente de baru possui melhor eficiência alimentar e qualidade proteica do que a semente de pequi, e sua proteína pode ser classificada como de qualidade intermediária a boa.

ABSTRACT The South American fruit fly, Anastrepha fraterculus (Diptera: Tephritidae) is the most important insect pest in pear tree crops in Southern Brazil. Several studies pointed to the controversial efficacy of some food lures used for capture and monitoring this species in various fruit species. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of food lures available in the Brazilian market in capturing and monitoring A. fraterculus in relation to grape juice. The experiment was conducted during the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 crop seasons in an Asian pear (Pyrus spp.) orchard located in Caçador, State of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The food lures evaluated were CeraTrap®, BioAnastrepha®, Torula®, Isca Mosca®, BioFruit®, and grape juice (a standard food lure in Southern Brazil). For each attractant substance, population fluctuations of A. fraterculus were recorded as well as the average number of female and male specimens captured, the FTD (fly/trap/day) rate of capture, the number of control indications, and mean weekly evaporation. The first A. fraterculus adults were captured in November, and in both crop seasons the population peak was found in January. CeraTrap® was more effective in capturing females and males and indicated a higher number of control indications compared to the other food lures. Grape juice presented lower effectiveness compared to CeraTrap®, including the evaporation parameter. It was concluded that CeraTrap® is the most effective food attractant in capturing adults of A. fraterculus and more accurate in detecting its population levels in Asian pear orchards, therefore, it is recommended rather than the usual grape juice.

Abstract Foraging performance of Common Eider (Somateria mollissima) was studied to find out if hyperphagia occurs before migration and breeding in this species. Diving efficiency and time spent feeding were quantified concomitantly for two subspecies that differ in the timing of their reproduction and migration. The foraging performance of female S. m. dresseri preparing for breeding and female S. m. borealis preparing for migration were compared with their male counterparts, which are known to achieve energy balance during these periods. Female dresseri spent 41% of their time feeding and made 404 dives daily, for a total of 169 min spent underwater each day. Female dresseri spent more time diving than did males by about one hour each day. There were no detectable differences in the foraging performances of male and female borealis, probably because the body mass of migrating females increased only slightly prior to migration. Hyperphagia in breeding female dresseri appears to be the main cause of increased body mass, although other mechanisms may play a role. Quête Alimentaire Chez l'Eider à Duvet Avant la Migration Printanière et la Nidification: Est-Il Possible de Déceler un Phénomène d'Hyperphagie? Résumé. Le quête alimentaire de l'Eider à duvet (Somateria mollissima) fut étudiée au printemps avant la migration et avant la nidification dans le but de déceler, s'il y a lieu, un phénomène d'hyperphagie chez cette espèce. Le temps passé à s'alimenter et l'efficacité de la plongée furent quantifiés simultanément pour deux sous-espèces qui diffèrent quant à leur chronologie de nidification et de migration. La quête alimentaire des femelles S. m. dresseri, se préparant pour la nidification, et des femelles S. m. borealis, se préparant pour la migration, fut comparée avec celle des mâles de chacune des sous-espèces respectives. Les mâles furent utilisés comme “témoins” puisqu'il y a des évidences que ces derniers maintiennent l'équilibre énergétique durant cette période. Les femelles dresseri ont passé en moyenne 41% de leur temps à s'alimenter et elles ont réalisé 404 plongeons quotidiennement, pour un total de 169 min. passées en plongée par jour, soit environ une heure de plus que les mâles. Il n'y avait pas de différences dans la performance de la quête alimentaire des femelles et des mâles borealis, probablement parce que les femelles n'emmagasinent que très peu de réserves avant leur départ pour la migration. En conclusion, un phénomène d'hyperphagie se manifeste chez la femelle dresseri bien que d'autres mécanismes d'accumulation de réserves peuvent jouer un rôle.

This paper presents an experimental characterization on the mechanical behaviour offour different sandwich panels, for use in thermal insulation. These Panels are the results of thecombination of four composite materials; two materials as skins (Glass-Polyester and Plywood)and two as cores (Polystyrene and Cork agglomerate). From the comparison between themechanical behaviour of these four sandwich panels which was tested for three point-bendingtests; the sandwich with Glass-Polyester as skin and Cork agglomerate as core has the highestoverall stiffness compared to the other sandwich panels. Furthermore, thermal characteristics ofthese four panels (insulation materials) were numerically used in a comparative study of thermalperformances of solar flat plate collectors, FPCs. Thus, we have proceeded to the comparison ofthese FPCs efficiencies in order to determine the best performing model for agro-alimentary dryingapplications. From the comparison between these four FPCs, the highest efficiency was obtainedfrom the FPC insulation panel with plywood as skin and cork agglomerate as core.

The purpose is to study the effect of hirudotherapy in period of preparing for pregnancy the women with obesity and high risk of developing preeclampsia, on the state of hemostasis and lipid metabolism. Materials and methods. The main group (n=127) was the women with alimentary-constitutional obesity and high risk of developing preeclampsia, received courses of hirudotherapy; the comparison group (n=120) was the women with alimentary-constitutional obesity and the control group (n=50) was somatically healthy women. Hirudotherapy is carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the RF Ministry of health. The study of the basic biochemical parameters and serum lipid spectrum of blood was carried out by standard methods before and during the treatment process, there has also been the main links of hemostasis – platelet, procoagulant and link inhibitors of blood clotting. Results. The efficiency of the preparing for pregnancy in the patients resulted in improvement of general state of women (subjective and objective), contributed to the normalization in the basic biochemical parameters and blood-clotting sequences. The anticoagulant effect of procedures, for example, is manifested in normalization of the parameters of activated partial thromboplastin time and their stability for more than 9 months after the main course of hirudotherapy. Hyperaggregation of platelets with collagen to treatment occurred in 69,3%, after hirudotherapy it declined in all cases to standard values. By the time of pregnancy patients with severe obesity remained in 2,2 times less. Lipid profiles improved relative to a comparison group: total cholesterol decreased by 10.4%, low density lipoproteins – by 34.5%, triglycerides – by 20.8%, atherogenesis coefficient lowering by 1.2 times. Conclusion. Hirudotherapy can be recommended to correct the rheological properties of blood and lipid metabolism, which found out in patients with obesity.

Smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa offer their stocks little or no supplementary feed but depend mostly on native pastures which are in low nutrient quality. The study was aimed at evaluating the effect of feeding regime on growth performance, nutrient metabolism, rumen indices and economics of production of Yankasa rams fed basal diets of grain sorghum hay or silage supplemented with concentrate. Sixteen growing Yankasa rams weighed 17.0±0.2 kg were randomly assigned to four feeding regime treatment: T1 = Sorghum hay + concentrate daily, T2 = Sorghum silage + concentrate daily, T3 = Sorghum silage + concentrate after 1-day and T4 = Sorghum silage + concentrate after 2-days. The parameters measured were hay intake, concentrate intake, total feed intake, daily feed intake, initial weight, final weight, weight gain, daily weight gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR), apparent nutrient digestibility, nitrogen balance and costs-benefit. The result showed that hay intake (25.28 – 29.23 kg), concentrate intake (6.19 – 19.41 kg), total feed intake (35.41 – 48.47 kg), daily weight gain (0.04 – 0.05 kg) and weight gain (2.85 – 3.35 kg) were significantly (P<0.05) affected by the feeding regime with rams fed silage + concentrate daily recording higher values. Better FCR was obtained in rams fed silage + concentrate after 2-days. Dry matter (79.22%), crude protein (85.59%), NDF (75.30%) and ADF (78.02%) digestibility coefficients were higher (P<0.05) for rams fed silage + concentrate after 1-day (every other day). The percentage of nitrogen absorbed and retained were higher (P<0.05) in rams fed silage + concentrate after 1-day (85.62 and 82.72%, respectively). The cost per kg gain of N1046.40 for rams fed hay + concentrate daily was significantly (P <0.05) lower than the cost per kg gain of other feeding regimes. It can be concluded that sorghum silage could be fed alongside concentrate daily for improved feed intake and weight gain, but for better cost-efficiency, it is recommended that farmers should feed hay and supplement concentrate daily to rams. Les petits exploitants agricoles d'Afrique subsaharienne offrent peu ou pas d'aliments supplémentaires à leurs stocks, mais dépendent principalement de pâturages indigènes de faible qualité nutritive. L'étude visait à évaluer l'effet du régime alimentaire sur la performance de croissance, le métabolisme des nutriments, les indices rumen et l'économie de la production de béliers Yankasa nourris à des régimes basaux de foin de sorgho de grain ou d'ensilage complétés par du concentré. Seize béliers Yankasa en croissance pesaient 17,0±0,2 kg ont été assignés au hasard à quatre traitements du régime alimentaire : T1 = foin de Sorgho + concentré tous les jours, T2 = ensilage de Sorgho + concentré tous les jours, T3 de Sorgho + concentré après 1 jour et T4 = ensilage de Sorgho + concentré après 2 jours. Les paramètres mesurés étaient l'apport en foin, l'apport en concentré, la consommation totale d'aliments pour animaux, l'apport quotidien en aliments pour animaux, le poids initial, le poids final, le gain de poids quotidien, le rapport de conversion des aliments pour animaux (FCR), la digestibilité apparente des éléments nutritifs, l'équilibre azoté et les coûts-avantages. Le résultat a montré que l'apport en foin (25.28 à 29.23 kg), l'apport en concentré (6.19 à 19.41 kg), la consommation totale d'aliments (35.41 à 48.47 kg), le gain de poids quotidien (0,04 à 0,05 kg) et le gain de poids (2.85 à 3.35 kg) ont été considérablement (P<0.05) affectés par le régime d'alimentation avec des béliers nourris à l'ensilage + concentré enregistrant quotidiennement des valeurs plus élevées. Un meilleur FCR a été obtenu dans l'ensilage alimenté par bélier + concentré après 2 jours. Matière sèche (79.22 %), protéines brutes (85.59 %), NDF (75.30 %) et ADF (78.02%) les coefficients de digestibilité étaient plus élevés (P<0.05) pour les béliers nourris à l'ensilage après 1 jour (tous les deux jours). Le pourcentage d'azote absorbé et retenu était plus élevé (P<0.05) chez les béliers nourris à l'ensilage + concentré après 1 jour (85.62 et 82.72 %, respectivement). Le gain par kg de N1046.40 pour les béliers nourris quotidiennement au foin + concentré était significativement (P <0.05) inférieur au coût par kg de gain des autres régimes alimentaires. On peut conclure que l'ensilage de sorgho pourrait être alimenté aux côtés du concentré quotidien pour améliorer l'apport alimentaire et le gain de poids, mais pour une meilleure rentabilité, il est recommandé que les agriculteurs nourrissent le foin et complètent le concentré quotidiennement aux béliers

La valorizzazione dei pascoli naturali attraverso il pascolamento può rappresentare un valore aggiunto negli allevamenti zootecnici sia in termini economici sia relativamente alla qualità dei prodotti che ne derivano. Tuttavia, la conoscenza e la comprensione delle strategie di pascolamento è fondamentale per un uso efficiente delle risorse naturali. Questo studio ha lo scopo di confrontare il comportamento alimentare di suini di due tipi genetici: la razza autoctona Cinta Senese e il suo incrocio con la Large White. I suini avevano a disposizione pascoli erbacei, tuttavia veniva distribuita un’integrazione di mangime. Osservazioni dirette sono state condotte sul comportamento di due gruppi di suini al pascolo durante il periodo compreso tra maggio e settembre, quando le risorse pascolive naturali sono maggiormente disponibili. Gli animali sono stati osservati attraverso la metodologia “scan sampling” ogni 15 minuti durante le ore diurne. I risultati dell’elaborazione statistica (ANOVA) hanno rivelato che durante le ore centrali della giornata entrambi i tipi genetici erano meno coinvolti in comportamenti attivi (alimentazione e movimento), mostrando maggiore propensione alle attività di riposo (posizione sdraiato e stazione). In particolare, il movimento ricorreva più frequentemente durante le ore del mattino in entrambi i tipi genetici. Il gruppo Cinta Senese trascorreva più tempo in attività di pascolamento, soprattutto nel grufolamento, durante la mattina rispetto alle ore centrali del giorno, rispetto ai suini Large White x Cinta Senese. Questi risultati confermano la spiccata attitudine della razza locale per la ricerca di alimenti naturali.

The health and growth enhancing abilities of aqueous extracts of medicinal plants is currently gaining attention because of their easy application by poultry farmers in their production process. The usage of these plants will reduce the cost of medication, prevent antibiotic residual cases in human and enhance food safety. This experiment was carried out for six weeks to ascertain the effect of Justicia carnea aqueous extract on the feed intake (FI), weight gain (WG), feed conversion efficiency (FCR), carcass yield and haematological profile of broiler chickens. Justicia carnea leaves aqueous extract was administered to one hundred and twenty broiler chicks allotted to four treatment (T) groups of thirty birds in three replicates of ten birds each. T1 was administered water with synthetic antibiotic (control) while birds in T2, T3 and T4 consumed Justicia carnea aqueous extract for two, three and four consecutive days per week, respectively. Data WG, FI, FCR, carcass yield and haematobiochemical parameters were collected and subjected to one way analysis of variance. Treatment 2 had the highest WG (1719.72g), final weight (2104.44g), the best FCR (1.99) and breast percentage (38.70 %). However, T1 had the highest (P<0.05) park cell volume and haemglobin values (29.31 % and 9.80 g/dl) but statistically comparable with other groups. The red blood cell was increased in T2, T3 had the highest total protein value (114.72 g/L) while T4 had the highest aspartate aminotransferase and Albumin values (195.42 U/L and 76.86 g/dl), respectively. It was concluded that administration of Justicia carnea aqueous extract for two consecutive days in a week enhances the performance of broiler chicken without compromising their blood quality. L’utilisation d’extraits aqueux de plantes médicinales comme additifs alimentaires pour les volailles suscite un intérêt croissant en raison de leur facilité d’utilisation et de leur potentiel à réduire les coûts des médicaments, les résidus d’antibiotiques et à améliorer la sécurité alimentaire. Cette étude expérimentale de six semaines visait à évaluer l’effet de l’extrait aqueux de Justicia carnea sur l’ingestion d’aliment (IA), le gain de poids (GP), l’indice de conversion alimentaire (ICA), le rendement en carcasse et le profil hématologique des poulets de chair. Cent vingt poussins ont été répartis en quatre groupes de traitement (T) de trente oiseaux chacun, avec trois répétitions par groupe. Le groupe T1 (contrôle) a reçu de l’eau avec un antibiotique synthétique, tandis que les groupes T2, T3 et T4 ont consommé de l’extrait aqueux de Justicia carnea pendant deux, trois et quatre jours consécutifs par semaine, respectivement. L’IA, le GP, l’ICA, le rendement en carcasse et les paramètres hématobiochimiques ont été mesurés et analysés par une analyse de variance à une voie. Le groupe T2 a présenté le GP le plus élevé (1719,72 g), le poids final le plus élevé (2104,44 g), le meilleur ICA (1,99) et le pourcentage de poitrine le plus élevé (38,70 %). Le groupe T1 a présenté un volume cellulaire moyen (VCM) et une concentration d’hémoglobine (Hb) statistiquement supérieurs (P<0,05) par rapport aux autres groupes, bien que restant statistiquement comparable. Le nombre de globules rouges a augmenté dans le groupe T2. Le groupe T3 a présenté la valeur la plus élevée de protéines totales (114,72 g/L), tandis que le groupe T4 a présenté les valeurs les plus élevées d’aspartate aminotransférase (AST) et d’albumine (195,42 U/L et 76,86 g/dl), respectivement. En conclusion, l’administration d’extrait aqueux de Justicia carnea pendant deux jours consécutifs par semaine améliore les performances des poulets de chair sans compromettre la qualité de leur sang.

An assessment of the increase in the efficiency of gas exchange was carried out on the example of students of an engineering university with the daily use of an additive containing food components with known bio-correcting properties: flour of wheat germ cake Ц 45%, sprouted chickpea seeds Ц 15%, dried leaves of japanese kelp Ц 5%, a component of animal origin in the form of whey protein concentrate Ц 35%. The change in the energy efficiency of the nutritional status was assessed based on the analysis of the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2) in the exhaled gas mixture and the level of hemoglobin oxygenation (SpO2), the values ??of which were recorded before and after daily consumption of the test products for 30 days. The study group of patients consisted of volunteers among first-year students of the Voronezh State University of Engineering Technologies - boys and girls aged 17-18 years. In the course of experimental studies, the subjects showed an increase in the SpO2 level by 0,83% and CO2 by 4,06%, as well as a decrease in the O2 concentration by 2,62% in the exhaled gas mixture. The data obtained indicate an increase in the level of oxygenated hemoglobin in the subjects' blood, accompanied by a shift in the active blood reaction (pH) towards an alkaline medium, which occurs between the alveolar air and the blood of the pulmonary veins and capillaries due to the diffusion of CO2 through the alveolar membrane. An increase in the concentration of CO2 in exhaled air is accompanied by an increase in the efficiency of O2 transport, and also prevents the formation of erythrocyte complexes as a result of changes in the physicochemical properties of the membrane. The data obtained make it possible to state the possibility of an active alimentary effect on the efficiency of gas exchange, and prove the antihypoxant properties of the enrichment additive. The reliability of the experimental data was assessed using the Mann-Whitney test, which confirmed the presence of a positive effect of the components of the enrichment supplement on the human body. The results of the work convincingly prove the role of alimentary factors in increasing the efficiency of the most important functions of the body of adolescents of the older age group, regardless of gender, which naturally leads to an increase in the body's resistance to changes in external and internal influences. The data obtained in the course of research indicate the possibility of classifying the components of the supplement as alimentary biocorrectors that ensure the effectiveness of the process of energy metabolism of the body in adolescents.

According to the data of Samara Veterinary Laboratory, in serum of cattle in 40.7 % of studied samples the calcium indicators have low values while increasing the level of inorganic phosphorus by 18.2 %, which indicates a significant prevalence and severe form of nutritional osteodystrophy in animals of the examined farms. The therapeutic use of a protein-mineral additive based on yeast autolysate, fodder bentonite, mono calcium phosphate and chalk in the general complex of therapeutic measures for alimentary osteodystrophy of lactating cows stimulates mineral metabolism, normalizing the calcium-phosphorus ratio, and has a positive effect on the milk productivity, increasing milk yield by 41.9 %. The preparation helps to stimulate hemoand erythropoiesis and has an anti-toxic effect on liver. The use of the additive allows increasing the economic efficiency of milk productivity during alimentary osteodystrophy of cows by 11.2 %.

Alphitobius diaperinus(Panzer) (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) is a pest of stored food products and problematic to every type of poultry production facility. Larvae and adults can ingest and harbor foodborne and poultry pathogens. Determining the efficiency of this insect’s capacity to transmit disease is critical to improving management ofA. diaperinuson poultry facilities and providing a safe food supply for human consumption. However, a deficiency exists in the literature reporting measurements of the gut and its defined segments. Previous reports include line drawing depictions, which aid little in the determination of the pathogen reservoir potential of these insects. Advances in technology allowed more accurate visualization and precise measurement of gross anatomical features of the alimentary canal. A photographic depiction to aid the researcher in the visualization of anatomical features and accurate measurements of the alimentary canal for these insects is presented here.

Compte tenu de l’importance socioéconomique et alimentaire du riz, les producteurs ont utilisé plusieurs systèmes de culture pour mieux assurer la compétitivité de leurs exploitations. La présente étude a consisté en une analyse de l’efficacité économique des systèmes de culture du riz en bas-fonds. Un échantillon de 283 producteurs a été constitué de façon aléatoire. L’approche stochastique des frontières de production et de coût a permis d’estimer et de décomposer l’efficacité économique en ces deux composantes (efficacité technique et efficacité allocative). Les analyses ont été faites à l’aide du logiciel d’analyse STATA 14.1. Les résultats ont montré que les efficacités diffèrent d’un cycle de production à l’autre et d’un système de culture à l’autre. Le système de culture impliquant plus les pratiques d’une transition agroécologique (SCR2) a été plus efficace en production pluviale 0,39 (±0,01) et en décrue 0,41 (±0,07) alors que le système impliquant moins les pratiques d’une transition agroécologique (SCR1) a été plus efficace en production de contre saison 0,68 (±0,09) face aux autres systèmes. Le renforcement du dispositif d’accompagnement des producteurs pouvait leur permet de mieux assurer la compétitivité de leurs exploitations à travers le choix d’un système de culture plus efficace. Given the socioeconomic and nutritional importance of rice, farmers have used several cropping systems to better ensure the competitiveness of their farms. This study consisted of an analysis of the economic efficiency of lowland rice cultivation systems. A sample of 283 farmers was randomly selected. The stochastic approach of production and cost frontiers made it possible to estimate and break down economic efficiency into these two components (technical efficiency and allocative efficiency). Analyzes were performed using STATA 14.1 analysis software. The results showed that the efficiencies differ from one production cycle to another and from one cropping system to another. The cropping system involving more agroecological transition practices (SCR2) was more efficient in rainfed production 0.39 (±0.01) and in flood recession 0.41 (±0.07) while the system involving less agroecological transition practices (SCR1) was more effective in off-season production 0.68 (±0.09) compared to other systems. Strengthening the support system for farmers could enable them to better ensure the competitiveness of their farms through the choice of a more efficient cropping system.

In economic literature, agricultural policy instruments for market and price stabilisation are classified in two broad categories: direct instruments and indirect instruments. Having the direct instruments failed, the cap proposals for years 2014-2020 are focusing on the indirect instruments: producer organisations, collective bargaining, interbranch agreements, transparency of the food supply chain, market risk management. Such themes emerged in the recent debate on agricultural policy because of two facts: strong volatility of agricultural prices and a growing disparity between basic prices and consumer prices. Objective of the present work is the evaluation of eight instruments of agricultural policy for improving the food supply chain functioning, with an analysis of potential economical consequences of the various options. The evaluation takes into account both efficiency (expenditure level, simplicity of use of the instruments, compatibility with Wto rules) and effectiveness (market and prices stabilisation, strengthening of producers position in the food supply chain, market transparency). Analysis was conduct referring to economic literature, to empirical evidences coming from sectors that use indirect instruments, and to results of studies produced by public or private organisations.

Bisphosphonates remain one of the most effective drugs to treat diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Among a wide range of possible options, the methods of bioinformatic analysis were developed, selected and synthesized analogs of bisphosphonates, the radical of which were selected pyrazole derivatives. The development of new advanced bisphosphonate analogues has broad prospects for medical application. The study is devoted to the investigation of the combined action of synthesized nitrogen-containing bisphosphonates (pyrazole-containing analogues) and vitamin D3 in the correction of mineral metabolism disturbances in osteoporosis. The work was performed on a rat model of alimentary osteoporosis, which was characterized by the development of hypocalcemia, hypophosphatemia, decreased serum 25OHD concentration and severe bone tissue demineralization. New pyrazole-containing bisphosphonates inhibited the process of bone demineralization (resorption) and improved mineral metabolism in rats with alimentary osteoporosis with varying efficiency. The action of the investigated substances resulted in an increase in the concentration of calcium, inorganic phosphate and a decrease in the activity of alkaline phosphatase and its isoenzymes in the serum. The ash content, calcium and phosphorus level in the ash of the tibia was increased as well, along with improving osteometric characteristics of the tibia (length and thickness of the proximal epimetaphysis). The combination of pyrazole-containing bisphosphonates and vitamin D3, which normalizes the concentration of 25OHD in the serum and provides the synthesis of biologically active, hydroxylated form of cholecalciferol, has been more effective in the correction of mineral metabolism impairments in rats with alimentary osteoporosis. According to the experimental results, the combination of vitamin D3 with bisphosphonate ISP-30, as a substance with the highest biological efficiency in regulating bone remodeling, enhancing osteogenesis and inhibition of resorption, is the most promising for further research.

Animal reproduction is one of the main factors limiting the efficiency of livestock production. Its optimal level is possibly achieved when certain conditions are created for animals. As reproduction is a complex reflex process depending on neuroendocrine regulatory mechanisms, the character and strength of stimuli, which, in turn, is due to a number of factors. Under normal conditions, the body of animals is affected by many different factors, which are appropriately transformed and specified by positive or negative reactions. Inhibitory factors include air pool, saturated with harmful substances and gases, ionizing radiation, poor water quality along with altered redox properties, hypokinesia combined with poor unbalanced feeding, systematic chronic stress, presence of toxic substances in feed, and the deficiency of vitamins and other bioantioxidants in feed or their excessive spending. Of the wide range of genetic and paratypic factors of negative impacts on reproductive capacity, the most common one is alimentary, which causes impaired reproductive function due to deficiencies in the rules, regulations, and feeding regime of animals. In particular, the alimentary can be associated with both general malnutrition (starvation) and overfeeding (obesity). However, the alimentary form of infertility mostly occurs due to low-quality diets when the diet lacks vital components (mainly vitamins, macro-, and micronutrients) or the quantitative ratios of the ingredients are violated. This is possible even if the total nutritional value of the diet meets the established requirements for the physiological needs of the body. Vitamins, micro-, and macronutrients are ecologically deficient factors of disturbance of animal reproductive function, the influence of which is observed on all processes of reproduction, from fertilization to the postpartum period and the preservation of young animals. The pathogenesis of their insufficiency is associated with the violation of steroido-, gameto-, and embryogenesis and the emergence of ante-, intra-, neo- and postnatal pathologies, respectively. Therefore, treatments and prevention measures should be aimed at providing animals with biologically complete balanced feeding and replenishment of the body with vitamins and minerals. However, all these issues remain incompletely studied and need further research.

Современное свиноводство стало ведущей отраслью сельского хозяйства и является крупным источником пополнения мясных ресурсов. Новые технологии воспроизводства, содержания и выращивания поросят с интенсивной эксплуатацией свиноматок дает предпосылки к возникновению различных болезней, которые приводят к ослаблению общего состояния организма и снижению его естественных защитных функций. Алиментарная анемия у поросят встречается повсеместно, особенно в зонах с продолжительным зимним периодом, а также ежегодно наблюдается в Республике Бурятия. В статье рассматриваются ветеринарные препараты «Униферон-200» и «Урсоферран-200», применяемые для профилактики железодефицитной анемии у поросят. Опыты по профилактике алиментарной анемии поросят были проведены на свинокомплексе «Восточно-Сибирский» Заиграевского района Республики Бурятия. Двукратное применение Униферона-200 увеличило показатели количества гемоглобина и эритроцитов на 21-й день, по сравнению с 5-м днем и составили, соответственно, 9,77 г/% и 5,55 млн/мм3, также дало возможность получить дополнительный привес. При однократном применении урсоферрана-200 на протяжении опыта также отмечали хорошее развитие. Результаты опытов показали, что железодекстрановые препараты «Униферон-200» и «Урсоферран-200» устраняют дефицит железа в организме поросят и способствуют лучшему росту и развитию. При этом поросята опытных групп отличались более быстрым ростом и развитием, резвостью и розовой окраской кожи. У поросят контрольной группы наблюдалась пониженная сосательная способность и даже потеря рефлекса сосания, видимые слизистые оболочки были бледные с желтушным оттенком, также отмечали вялость и падеж животных. Modern pig breeding has become a leading branch in agriculture; it is one of the main sources of meat replenishment. New technologies of pigs reproduction, keeping and raising with pressure on sows cause different diseases. These illnesses lead to organism weakening and worsening of natural barrier functions. Alimentary anemia at piggery is a common occurrence especially within areas characterized by long winters. It is annually observed in the Republic of Buryatia. The article deals with the veterinary drugs “Uniferon-200” and “Ursoferran-200” that are used as a tool of iron-deficiency anemia prevention at piggery. Experiments on alimentary anaemia prevention at piggery were conducted in the pig-breeding farm “Vostochno-Sibirskii” in the Zaigraevski district in the Republic of Buryatia. Two applications of Uniferon - 200 allowed to increase hemoglobin and erythrocytes indices on the 21 day in comparison with the 5 day of its usage. Their numbers equal to 9,77 g/% and 5,55 mln/mm3 respectively. Also, the usage of “Uniferon-200” promotes a gain in weight. Single application of “Ursoferran-200” also gives good results during the experiment. According to the results of the experiments the iron-dextran drugs “Uniferon-200” and “Ursoferran-200” accommodate the deficit of iron at piggery and promote better growth and development of pigs. It should be mentioned that pigs in experimental groups differ from pigs of a control group by the quick growth and development, playfulness and pink skin color. Pigs of the control group had poor suckling and even loss of this ability; moreover, visible mucous membranes were pale with yellowish tone, pigs were physically inactive and their mortality was noticed.

- Business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce is an innovative use of information and communication technologies (ict) and refers to the exchange of goods and related information between companies supported by Internet-based tools such as electronic marketplaces (also called electronic trade platforms) or online shops. It provides opportunities for cost-efficiency in supply chain management processes and access to new markets. With regard to the food sector with its chain levels input - agriculture - industry - retail - consumer, B2B e-commerce would take place in the exchange of food products between all levels except retail to consumer (business-to-consumer ecommerce). B2B e-commerce demonstrated to be able to bring key advantages and potentials for European consumers and the European food sector, for instance easier traceability, cost-efficiency in supply chain management processes, better competitiveness, lower transaction costs, etc. In recent years, the availability of sophisticated B2B e-commerce technology improved tremendously and the applications became more powerful, flexible, and user-friendly. However, the "European e-Business Market Watch" initiative from the Directorate-General Enterprise and Industry from the European Commission showed that only large multinationals exploit the potentials of B2B e-commerce. smes instead, which create the largest share of turn over in the European food sector and therefore create jobs and welfare in Europe, are reluctant to take up existing B2B ecommerce technologies into their supply or selling operations. Trust issues were identified as one of the factors hindering adoption of this new technology among smes. In this paper, different food chain scenarios with their transaction processes and risks regarding food quality and food safety and related trust elements are analysed and differences in trust in several European food chains need to be considered within the context of the existing scientific literature. We identify food chains with trans- European cross-border exchange of food and international food chains in order to analyse the transaction processes and typical risks regarding food quality and food safety. The analysis focuses on trans-European cross-border and international food chains with their chain levels (e.g. production to wholesale trade, wholesale trade to industry, or wholesale trade to retail). In particular, it regards the food categories meat, grains, fresh vegetables, and fresh fruits and the particular risks regarding food quality and safety along the chains. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar a eficiência do processo de compostagem, no reaproveitamento das sobras alimentares do restaurante do IFMA - Campus Codó, em virtude da valorização da qualidade do adubo orgânico. O sistema experimental de compostagem foi conduzido durante os meses 05/11 a 01/12 no IFMA - Campus Codó. A utilização do material orgânico proveniente do restaurante foi composta por resíduos/desperdícios alimentar, folhas, sabugos, bagaços, dentre outros. As camadas constituintes da pilha do composto foram feitas com 1,5 m de largura, 1,5 m de comprimento e 2,0 m de altura no período de aproximadamente 70 dias. No período de amadurecimento da pilha, a mesma foi revirada periodicamente realizando-se coleta de amostras para a caracterização química em relação ao pH, temperatura, volume, macronutrientes, e micronutrientes com coletas de dados a cada 20 dias. Na utilização de resíduos vegetais como substratos observou-se que a redução de volume obedecia a um comportamento quadrático, ou seja, redução acentuada nas primeiras semanas de empilhamento, seguida de desaceleração gradual até o fim do processo. O índice de pH, a temperatura e a relação C/N encontrados no sistema experimental de compostagem foram parâmetros que garantiram a eficiência do composto vegetal quando aplicados diretamente ao solo.Palavras-chave: material vegetal, eficiência, empilhamento. COMPOSITION OF ORGANIC RESIDUES FROM RESTAURANT OF IFMA- CAMPUS CODÓ ABSTRACT:The objective of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of the composting process, in the reuse of food leftovers from the IFMA - Campus Codó restaurant, due to the valorization of organic fertilizer quality. The experimental composting system was conducted during the months 05/11 to 01/12 at the IFMA - Campus Codó. The use of organic material from the restaurant was composed of food waste, food waste, leaves, sabugo, bagasse, among others. The composite layers of the compost stack were made 1.5 m wide, 1.5 m long and 2.0 m high in the period of approximately 70 days. In the period of maturation of the cell, it was periodically revolved by collecting samples for chemical characterization in relation to pH, temperature, volume, macronutrients, and micronutrients with data collection every 20 days. In the use of vegetable residues as substrates it was observed that the volume reduction was due to a quadratic behavior, that is, a sharp reduction in the first weeks of stacking, followed by gradual deceleration until the end of the process. The pH, temperature and C/N ratio found in the experimental composting system were parameters that ensured the efficiency of the compost when applied directly to the soil.Keywords: plant material, efficiency, stacking. Currently, the food industry prioritizes the safety and quality of products, facing the challenge of maintaining sensory and nutritional integrity. To address this challenge, emerging non-thermal technologies are being explored that offer significant advantages in improving food quality over conventional technologies. This review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how these innovative technologies can transform the traditional food processing landscape as we know it. Non-thermal technologies have the potential to reduce energy consumption for food production, processing and packaging, compared to conventional thermal treatments. Furthermore, these technologies are particularly suitable for efficiently preserving bioactive compounds present in foods. This review describes the fundamental principles, applications, advantages and limitations of emerging technologies in food processing. These technologies include pulsed electric field, ultrasound, cold plasma, high pressure, irradiation, light-emitting diodes, pulsed light and oscillating magnetic fields. Despite the large number of studies on the subject, more research is required to optimize and improve the efficiency of the application of these technologies, alone or in combination, in food processing. The bioaccessibility and bioactivity of the compounds, nutritional value, shelf life and sensory aspects may be variables of interest.

El propósito de este trabajo es dar a conocer parte de los resultados de una investigación sobre el proceso de implementación de una política social alimentaria a través de Comedores Comunitarios en atención a la inseguridad alimentaria en la ciudad de Culiacán, Sinaloa, México. El objetivo fue conocer los elementos socioculturales que determinan la eficiencia del programa social. El diseño de la investigación es descriptivo-interpretativo utilizando un enfoque cualitativo basado en un método hermenéutico-critico que recupera los discursos de 30 beneficiarios de 27 Comedores Comunitarios que operan el programa en la Ciudad de Culiacán, Sinaloa, México. Los hallazgos muestran que las representaciones del proyecto político significan para el beneficiario una opción de alimentación y crean un espacio de convivencia y descanso, los discursos muestran lo que viven y sienten respecto a la cotidianidad del comensal. Asimismo se visualiza la necesidad del conocimiento de las determinantes socioculturales de la alimentación para contribuir a transformar la realidad alimentaria, pues reconoce los factores estructurales de la inseguridad alimentaria, pero también las condicionantes en el seno de las prácticas sociales de las familias, ya que ambas son importantes a la hora de la toma de decisiones de la política alimentaria. The purpose of this paper is to present some of the results of a research into the process of implementing of a social food policy through Community Kitchens in response to food insecurity in the city of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. The objective was to know the sociocultural factors that determine the efficiency of this social program. The research design is descriptive-interpretive using a qualitative approach based on a hermeneutic-critical method that recovers the discourses of 30 beneficiaries of 27 Community Kitchens who operate the program in the City of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. The findings show that the representations of the political project mean for the beneficiary a food option and create a space for conviviality and rest, the speeches show what they live and feel with regard to daily life of the diner. Likewise, the need for knowledge of the sociocultural determinants of food is visualized to contribute to transforming the food reality, since it recognizes the structural factors of food insecurity, but also the conditions within the social practices of families, meanwhile both are important when making food policy decisions.

L’ambition de l’Atelier de Réflexion Prospective sur l’élevage a été de repenser la place, les rôles de l’élevage et en quoi il doit se transformer pour contribuer pleinement au développement de systèmes agri-alimentaires plus durables ainsi que d’identifier des thématiques de recherches interdisciplinaires permettant d’explorer des fronts de science ou méthodologiques porteurs d’avenir pour lever les verrous de connaissances. La réflexion a été animée par un groupe de 15 chercheurs et en a mobilisé une centaine. À partir d’une analyse du contexte et des drivers d’évolution des systèmes nous proposons un nouveau cadre conceptuel et des voies de progrès pour penser l’élevage de demain. L’élevage doit s’inscrire dans le cadre de systèmes agri-alimentaires circulaires dans lesquels il doit contribuer, au-delà d’une efficience accrue des moyens de production, à la préservation de la qualité des ressources et à la production d’une alimentation à un prix abordable. Il faut repenser les systèmes pour qu’ils soient climato-intelligents et répondent aux enjeux de santé et du bien-être des animaux et des Hommes ; repenser les liens entre élevage, production végétale et territoire pour maximiser les recyclages et repenser les liens entre élevage, transformation et consommation des produits de l’élevage. Les innovations doivent être basées sur les principes de l’agroécologie complétés par ceux de l’économie circulaire et par la mobilisation des leviers des (bio)technologies et de l’innovation organisationnelle. Le texte décrit quatre grandes priorités scientifiques avec leurs enjeux de recherche et produit des recommandations pour un plan d’action.

Modern technologies of industrial fish farming allow getting high-quality products. However, stressful conditions of an artificial ecosystem (high planting density, violation of optimal hydrochemical conditions) can negatively affect food activity, growth rate, lead to the development of alimentary diseases and depletion of the antioxidant potential In conditions when fish is deprived of natural food, and the metabolism is completely under human control, the use of balanced feeds enriched with macro — and microelements, as well as biologically active substances, maximizes metabolic processes and helps to increase the growth rate and obtain physiologically complete juveniles. The use of antioxidant feed additives allows not only to carry out timely therapy, but also to provide a preventive effect to prevent the negative consequences of an artificial ecosystem. Currently, there are a number of antioxidant feed additives, among which are of particular interest to natural bioantioxidant of flavonoid nature, such as catechins, dihydrochalcones, flavonols, leukocyanins, dihydroquercetin. The article discusses the experience of using a new generation antioxidant — dihydroquercetin and an immunostimulator — arabinogalactan in feeding a tilapia hybrid (Oreochromis mossambicus × Oreochromis niloticus). It was found that the addition of dihydroquercetin (25,0– 50,0 mg/kg) and arabinogalactan (50,0 mg/kg) to the production feed allowed to increase productivity by 26,0%, as well as to show a positive effect on the physiological state of fish. The results obtained complement the existing ideas about the fields of application of antioxidants, and also prove the prospects of using plant-based products as antioxidant feed additives.

The modern personalized medicine using in its toolkit high-tech methods of diagnostic and treatment bases on accomplishments of scientists in many directions and one of the most important is the Anthropology. On top of trends Clinical Anthropology has as a field of research the study of consistent patterns and definition varieties of the typological alterability of the organization of the human body and its parts. Due to the current-day approaches developed mostly in the Federal Research Center of Nutrition and Biotechnology the Anthropology brings to the Nutritiology the information about individual distinctions of physical and nutritional status of humans considering of somatotypological variability, age, sex and other factors. Anthropological view brings to specialists standards and norms of the somatic growth which differentiated with the consideration of age-and-sex groups and of stature’s type (somatic type). In turn, the capabilities of Nutritiology and Dietology (dietotherapy, patient-specific nutrition and etc) could assure the correction of the image, nutritional status, many of anthropometric figures. Submitted data show different levels of morbidity, specific clinical character of the state of different diseases, including alimentary diseases, in different somatic type groups. The efficiency of the dietetic therapy for some alimentary diseases (alimentary obesity) also is dissimilar in groups of the different somatic types that means personify patient-specific statical demand for each person. Adducted materials point out the existence of close affinity and crosstalk between scientific disciplines – Anthropology and Nutritiology. No less, mentioned materials allow to recommend widespread use of anthropomorphic method in clinical practice providing individual attitude for the patient.

The results of studies of the alimentary correction of the efficiency of gas exchange processes in the lungs are presented on the example of students and teachers of an engineering university with the daily use of food products with known bio-corrective properties: 3.5 g of wheat germ oil (MZP), 50 g of flour from wheat germ meal (MZHP), 6.5 g of concentrated tissue fish oil (CTR) and their combinations with the biomass of the consortium of lacto - and bifidobacteria (10 g). The efficiency of gas exchange processes was assessed based on the analysis of the respiratory coefficient, the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2) in the exhaled gas mixture was determined using a TESTO-310 gas analyzer, an MDG-1201 capnograph, the values of which were recorded before and after daily consumption of the studied products during 30 days. The experimental group consisted of volunteers - teachers and university students aged 16 to 65 years, divided into 3 age groups: 16-24, 25-44 and 45-65 years old. It was found that the most effective antihypoxant is MZHP, in all age groups the increase in the mean values ??of DC was 0.041 units, and relative to the initial values - 4.8%. With the use of MW, the change in DC was 0.032, an increase relative to the initial indicators - 3.7%. For the 1st, 2nd and 3rd age groups, the average change in DC was: 0.031, 0.036 and 0.043 units, relative to the initial indicators, the growth was 3.5, 4.2 and 5.0%, respectively. It has been proven that the combination of the investigated biocorrectors with active forms of probiotic microorganisms provides a more active antihypoxant effect for all investigated products, in all age groups. The efficiency of the minimum wage has increased, the increase in DC was 0.049 units, for CTR - 0.024 units. The growth of DC relative to the initial values was 5.7 and 2.9%, respectively. The synergism of the action of biocorrectors in combination with probiotics, by age groups, was 0.035, 0.033 and 0.038 units, which relative to the initial indicators was 4.1, 3.8 and 4.5%. The data obtained make it possible to state the possibility of a significant alimentary effect on the efficiency of gas exchange in the lungs, prove the antihypoxant properties of MZP, MZHP, CTR, as well as an increase in the effectiveness of combinations of these biocorrectors with active forms of probiotic microorganisms.

It is proved that the combination of the studied biocorrector with the active forms of probiotic microorganisms provides a more active antihypoxic effect for all the studied products in all age groups. The effectiveness of the WGO was increased, the increase in RC was 0.049 units, for CTFO – 0.024 units. The growth of RC relative to the initial values was 5.7 and 2.9%, respectively. The synergism of the action of biocorrectors in combination with probiotics, by age groups amounted to – 0.035, 0.033 and 0.038 units, which is 4.1, 3.8 and 4.5% relative to the initial indicators.
