In this conversation, Kevin K. Kumashiro shares his reflections on challenges to publishing anti-oppressive research in educational journals. He then invites eight current and former editors of leading educational research journals—William F. Pinar, Elizabeth Graue, Carl A. Grant, Maenette K. P. Benham, Ronald H. Heck, James Joseph Scheurich, Allan Luke, and Carmen Luke — to critique and expand on his analysis. Kumashiro begins the conversation by describing his own experiences submitting manuscripts to educational research journals and receiving comments by anonymous reviewers and journal editors. He suggests three ways to rethink the collaborative potential of the peer-review process: as constructive, as multilensed, and as situated. The eight current and former editors of leading educational research journals then critique and expand Kumashiro's analysis. Kumashiro concludes the conversation with additional reflections on barriers and contradictions involved in advancing anti-oppressive educational research in educational journals.

Training on publication of reputable international journals for students is a training carried out to improve and increase the ability to create and publish journals. With this training, students are more aware of the needs of publishing and producing scientific papers, this is because a lot of information and knowledge are already digital-based. The purpose of holding training on the publication of reputable international journals is that FTIK students are expected to have experience and be able to publish reputable international journals. This service method uses four stages of activities, namely material presentation, journal templating, discussion, and article submission. To assess and promote internationally representative scholarship, several past studies have examined the geographic affiliation of journals’ editorial board members and authors. The present study is the first known to examine this with journals devoted to school and educational psychology. After systematically identifying all peer-reviewed scholarly journals around the globe that are specifically devoted to school or educational psychology ( N = 45), the goals of this study were to (a) report key characteristics about each journal’s editorial board, and (b) examine the extent to which geographic affiliation (country where one is employed) is consistent among a journal’s editorial board members and recent authors. One key finding revealed that editorial boards of the discipline’s journals represent individuals from all global regions, but many global regions (e.g. Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America) are underrepresented. Another finding showed that the vast majority of journals evidence strong similarities in geographic affiliation between editorial board members and authors. Findings, implications, limitations, and future research directions are discussed in the context of internationalization.

Little is known about open access publishing in educational technology journals that employ a hybrid model which charges authors only if they wish to publish via gold open access. In this study we sought to address this gap in the scholarly understanding of open access publishing in hybrid journals that publish research into the intersection of education and technology. We analysed three categories of article access types: gold, green, and limited access, and collected data on their prevalence in the seven-year period from 2010-2017 across 29 journals. Data was gathered from Scopus, Unpaywall, Sherpa RoMEO, and via manual searches of the journal websites, resulting in a dataset comprising the metadata of 8,479 articles. Our findings highlight that most research remains locked behind paywalls, that open access publishing through legal means is a minority activity for the scholars involved, and that the complexity and costs of legal open access publishing in these journals may be inhibiting the accessibility of research to readers.

The article deals with the foreign and domestic experience of using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) software platform for informational support of scientific and educational activities, in particular: a) as a means of publicizing and disseminating the results of scientific research; b) for creating and maintaining repositories of libraries of higher educational establishments; c) for developing the scientific and educational space of an educational establishments; d) as a cloud-based service for the preservation and access to scientific resources; e) for information support in organization of student training; and f) for deployment of student journals. As a result of the analysis of scientific periodicals of Ukraine in the field of psychological and pedagogical sciences, the scientific journals on the basis of Open Journal Systems are identified. ObjectiveTo conduct a Delphi survey informing a consensus definition of predatory journals and publishers.DesignThis is a modified three-round Delphi survey delivered online for the first two rounds and in-person for the third round. Questions encompassed three themes: (1) predatory journal definition; (2) educational outreach and policy initiatives on predatory publishing; and (3) developing technological solutions to stop submissions to predatory journals and other low-quality journals.ParticipantsThrough snowball and purposive sampling of targeted experts, we identified 45 noted experts in predatory journals and journalology. The international group included funders, academics and representatives of academic institutions, librarians and information scientists, policy makers, journal editors, publishers, researchers involved in studying predatory journals and legitimate journals, and patient partners. In addition, 198 authors of articles discussing predatory journals were invited to participate in round 1.ResultsA total of 115 individuals (107 in round 1 and 45 in rounds 2 and 3) completed the survey on predatory journals and publishers. We reached consensus on 18 items out of a total of 33 to be included in a consensus definition of predatory journals and publishers. We came to consensus on educational outreach and policy initiatives on which to focus, including the development of a single checklist to detect predatory journals and publishers, and public funding to support research in this general area. We identified technological solutions to address the problem: a ‘one-stop-shop’ website to consolidate information on the topic and a ‘predatory journal research observatory’ to identify ongoing research and analysis about predatory journals/publishers.ConclusionsIn bringing together an international group of diverse stakeholders, we were able to use a modified Delphi process to inform the development of a definition of predatory journals and publishers. This definition will help institutions, funders and other stakeholders generate practical guidance on avoiding predatory journals and publishers.

Information-professional-scientific periodicals have been present in Croatian textile field for 90 years with five successive journals. They mirrored the development and needs of the textile industry through various socio-economic and educational-scientific conditions. In this sense, the scientific journal for textile and clothing technology – Tekstil that marks 67 years of uninterrupted publication had the most important role. This journal is the most relevant source of various information on the development of textile profession and textile technology in Croatia and abroad. As a monthly journal, Tekstil was the source of the current peer-reviewed scientific and professional information that was trying to meet the needs of many generations of students, experts, teachers and scientists in the field of textiles. Beside the review of the journal development in 67-year period, this paper is an attempt to indicate the journal’s current difficulties and challenges in sense of regaining his status among the most relevant world journals.

454 papers appearing in 10 journals published by the American Psychological Association during 1999 were reviewed to consider the frequency of publication of qualitative research. Journals reviewed included Health Psychology, Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of Educational Psychology, Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, Journal of Family Psychology, Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, Psychological Assessment, and Psychology and Aging. Papers were classified as quantitative, qualitative, or mixed qualitative/quantitative studies. Quantitative papers were also dichotomously classified as either primarily descriptive or experimental. Qualitative studies were classified by type of qualitative methods specified by the authors. Most papers (97.6%) were classified as quantitative. Only three journals reviewed published qualitative studies.

One proposed way to support internationalization is to enhance internationally representative and culturally informed scholarship within a respective discipline, and academic journals are a primary source of scholarship for most disciplines. Therefore, to build upon efforts to assess and promote internationally representative scholarship, it is necessary to identify and know more about the discipline-specific journals within a field—including those published in different parts of the world and in different languages. The goals of this study were to (a) identify all peer-reviewed scholarly journals around the globe that are specifically devoted to publishing scholarship about school or educational psychology, and (b) obtain relevant information about those journals (e.g., information about the mission of each journal, article accessibility, language characteristics, etc.). One key finding indicated clear evidence of internationality in the discipline, but there are important limitations with respect to representation aspects of internationalization. Other findings showed that many journals offer free access to scholarly articles and that the vast majority of journals aim to publish scholarship that influences practice. All findings, implications, limitations, and future research directions are discussed in the context of internationalization within school and educational psychology, and are connected to discipline-relevant research, practice, training, collaboration, or advocacy.

In order to disseminate the findings and recommendations from their studies, researchers publish papers in scientific journals in their subject area. Research communities thus emerge as a result of the communication between authors who cite other relevant papers. This study focuses on the relationships between Spanish and English research communities in the specific field of Educational Technology. We explore as hypotheses whether there are signs of scientific journal communication between authors in these two communities, and if the English authors reciprocate citations by Spanish authors. In order to verify them, a social network analysis was conducted by considering outgoing and incoming citations in eight open access journals (four in English and four in Spanish) published over ten years (2007-2016). The sample includes 3,407 articles, which were analysed using UCINET and Gephi software. The results show partial confirmation of the hypotheses, since two separate research communities were recognized, with almost no communication between them. However, the Spanish community was presented as more connected than the English one. We interpret these results by considering not only language factors, but also the journal roots and the particular subject field under consideration. Finally, we highlight some general recommendations to enhance future communication between these two education research communities.

The present essay offers a discussion of the problems connected with establishing a journal devoted to the history of Russian philosophy and culture. In this article, we reveal the prerequisites that were needed for the creation, goals and objectives of the journals “Solovyov Studies” and “Russian Philosophy”. The role of scientific centers – the Ivanovo Interregional Scientific and Educational Center for the Investigation of V.S. Solovyov’s Legacy (Solovyov Seminar) and the St. Petersburg seminar “Russian Thought” - in the formation of journals is emphasized. We show the importance of source studies and publications as the most important condition and prerequisite for a reliable reconstruction of the history of Russian philosophy. We also consider the various forms of scientific and educational activities of journals and the problems associated with the training of research personnel who are capable and ready to work with archival documents. Finally, we characterize the thematic diversity of the content of the first two issues of the journal “Russian Philosophy”.

The article analyzes the role of pedagogical journals in the development of multiethnic education and schooling in Subcarpathian Rus (1919–1939). It has been proved that the pedagogical periodicals during the period under study were mainly initiated by the school department of the Civil Administration of Subcarpathian Rus, the Teachers’ Association of Subcarpathian Rus, the Pedagogical Society of Subcarpathian Rus, the Ukrainophile pedagogical society “Teacher Community”. It has been found out that the educational guidelines of publications depended not only on the state policy, but also on the ideology of public organizations that financed a particular journal as well as n the position of the chief editors. The pedagogical journals Uchitel, Narodnaya Shkola, Podkarpatska Rus, Uchitelskii Holos, Nasha Shkola, Venochek dlia podcarpatskih detok, Nash rodnyy kray, Pcholka raised educational problems, fulfilling this important informative function, promoting the humanistic, moral, spiritual, multi-ethnic and democratic values of education. Almost every journal contained rubrics on the conditions and criteria of multicultural, national-patriotic, spiritual, and physical education. The articles discussed specific issues of education and upbringing, educational and methodological principles of education, a chronicle of the cultural and educational development of the region, etc. The specificity of educational journals in Subcarpathian Rus was their multilingualism: the overwhelming majority of articles were published in two or three languages – Rusinian, Czech and Hungarian, which made them accessible to a wide range of readers, facilitated the dialogue of cultures between representatives of different ethnic groups in the region.

Saturation is a key construct used by qualitative research theorists as a way to verify the rigor and validity of a study. This study intends to examine how saturation is used within qualitative educational technology studies that addressed saturation. We selected journals which (a) follow a peer review process; (b) are considered influential in their fields and of high quality, as reflected in being in Q1 (first quartile) or Q2 (second quartile) in Scopus; and (c) publish qualitative research. The number of journals selected for this study was 20, and we selected 3 articles from each. The methodology in the chosen articles was interview-based, and the articles were published in the journal in the 5 recent years 2018–2022 (i.e., a 5-year review period). The research results indicated that 20 out of 60 of the participating studies paid attention to the definition of saturation, 25 out of 60 participating studies paid attention to ‘why saturation was sought’, and 26 out of 60 participating studies paid attention to ‘when saturation was sought’. All the participating studies paid attention to ‘how was saturation assessed’. The most-mentioned expression to indicate the achievement of saturation was the emergence of new information, themes, categories, and codes, where most of the participating studies used expressions related to this aspect.

ABSTRACT Cardiology fellowship programs are at the interface of medical education and the care of patients suffering from the leading cause of mortality in the United States, yet there is an apparent lack of research guiding the effective education of fellows.Background We sought to quantify the number of publications in cardiology journals that pertained to the education of cardiology trainees and the number of cardiologists participating in education research.Objective For the period between January and December 2012, we cataloged cardiology-specific and general medical/medical education journals and sorted them by impact factor. Tables of content were reviewed for articles with an educational focus, a cardiology focus, or both. We recorded the authors' areas of medical training, and keywords from each cardiology journal's mission statement were reviewed for emphasis on education.Methods Twenty-six cardiology journals, containing 6645 articles, were reviewed. Only 4 articles had education themes. Ten general medical and 15 medical education journals contained 6810 articles. Of these, only 7 focused on medical education in cardiology, and none focused on cardiology fellowship training. Among the 4887 authors of publications in medical education journals, 25 were cardiologists (less than 1%), and among the 1036 total words in the mission statements of all cardiology journals, the term “education” appeared once.Results Published educational research is lacking in cardiology training, and few cardiologists appear to be active members of the education scholarship community. Cardiology organizations and academic journals should support efforts to identify target areas of study and publish scholarship in educational innovation.Conclusions

The study sought to determine the basic criteria adopted for the inclusion of scientific journals in the world-renowned databases (DOAJ, ADL, MYCITE, SCOPUS, WOS), and then to diagnose the current situation of five scientific journals issued by Al-Madinah International University, represented by (Journal of International Islamic Sciences), And (Al-Rasikhoon Journal), (Al-Madinah International University Journal), (Al-Lisan International Journal for Linguistic and Literary Studies), and (Al-Madinah International University Journal for Educational and Psychological Sciences) for the year 2022, then evaluated through eighteen criteria for: (DOAJ), nine for ADL, twenty-two for (Mycite), twenty for (Scopus) and twenty for (WOS); To verify the qualification and readiness of scientific journals at Al-Madinah International University to join the global databases, the study adopted the descriptive approach; To describe the criteria of scientific publication followed in the scientific journals under study, then comparative; To compare these standards used in the scientific journals, with the basic criterias adopted in international databases. The study reached to identify the most important shortcomings and obstacles that prevented the scientific journals from inclusion to global databases, and defining the basic criterias that must be available in these scientific journals; in order to be included in the global databases. The study concluded with several recommendations; it helps in developing and improving the quality of scientific journals at Al-Madinah International University and qualifying them to join international databases.

Historically, ANOVA has been the most prevalent statistical method used in educational and psychological research and today ANOVA continues to be widely used. A comprehensive review published in 1998 examined several APA journals and discovered persistent concerns in ANOVA reporting practices. The present authors examined all articles published in 2012 in three APA journals (Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Counseling Psychology, and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology) to review ANOVA reporting practices including p values and effect sizes. Results indicated that ANOVA continues to be prevalent in the reviewed journals as a test of the primary research question, as well as to test conditional assumptions prior to the primary analysis. Purpose: The reason of this research article is presents some principles establish in creative writing and publishing the article in any journal. Paper publishing is a very tough job and time-consuming process mostly in Pakistan. Even within Pakistan, there are a lot of journals we have, who making difficult to decide what appropriate venue is for one’s research and creative writing.
Luckily, many of the obstacles along the writing and publishing path can be avoided by following some simple guidelines and practices.
Methodology: The methodology of the research paper is supported on literature review and articles. Essential issues and barriers of publishing a research paper in any journal and conference is the aim of this study. By using examples of technology based learning and by explaining from literature review the manuscript acquired an interdisciplinary stance.
Findings: findings of the study were made the understanding how to solve problems in creative writing and publishing problems of educational research in Pakistan. (a) Lake knowledge of important parts of a research paper. (b) Lake knowledge of how to describe data in data analyses. (c) Some may have weak critical thinking or brainstorming skills. (d) Some are not able to craft an impeccable research paper which lands in either of the HEC approved journals or in any international journal. (e) Few Researcher try to seek help from some external sources which may appear to offer them cheap research papers but in the end, may eventually rob them of a lot of money and will deliver them deplorable research papers.

This study reveals educational technology research trends in Indonesia for the consecutive ten years (2011-2020). The analysis included co-authorship, co-occurrence, citation, and co-citation by finding the top authors, universities, journals, the most used keywords, and citation variables. The data was taken from the Web of Science. A total of 248 studies were found and then shrunk into 59 studies related to educational technology. The mapping analysis used VOSviewer to visualize the selected studies. It was concluded that the Nurkhamid had the highest numbers of citations, while publications from Yogyakarta State University were declared as the most-cited papers. In terms of the most-cited journals (citation analysis), the Australasian Journal of Educational Technology was named on it, and Computers & Education was the most-cited based on co-citation analysis. Based on the co-occurrence analysis, some of the terms, including education, technology, activity theory, English, and science, were enunciated as the most used keywords in the selected period. Further analysis was discussed herein.

The aim of present study is to examine the intellectual structure of the reference lists of postgraduate theses on mobile learning in Turkey. In this research, 88 postgraduate theses indexed in the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education were examined. According to the obtained findings, it was determined that the most theses were conducted in 2019. The average number of pages and citations of doctoral theses is higher than that of master’s theses. The supervisors of the master’s theses are mostly Assistant professors while the advisors of doctoral theses are mostly Associate professors and Professors. In both master’s and doctoral theses, citations to journal articles are more common. The most cited journals in master’s theses were Computers and Education, Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology, British Journal of Educational Technology. The most cited journals in doctoral theses were Computers and Education and British Journal of Educational Technology. Agnes Kukulska-Hulme and John Traxler’s book Mobile Learning: A Handbook for Educators and Trainers is the most cited book in master's theses. Mohamed Ally’s book Mobile Learning: Transforming the Delivery of Education and Training comes first in doctoral dissertations. Mike Sharples has been the most cited author in both types of postgraduate theses.

Abstract The use of reporting guidelines has an important role in the development of health research, improving the quality and precision of the publications. This study evaluated how dental journals use reporting guidelines. All editors of dental journals registered on the 2013 Journal Citation Reports list (n=81) were invited to participate. The data were collected by a self-reported web-based questionnaire. Information about the profile of journal/editor and on the use of reporting guidelines by journals was gathered. Information/recommendations about the use of reporting guidelines were collected from the websites of all journals. Data were descriptively analyzed and frequencies were summarized. Thirty-four (42%) editors completed the questionnaire. Most journals are members of Committee on Publication Ethics (64.7%) and/or follow the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors recommendations (20.6%), while 26.5% are not members of any editorial group. Most editors are unfamiliar with the EQUATOR Network (55.9%), do not work full time (85.3%) and 88.2% have some income/payment. Most of them received educational training for this position (55.9%). The CONSORT Statement was endorsed by 61.8% of journals. Information from websites showed that 44.4% journals do not recommend any reporting guideline, 51.9% mention CONSORT Statement in the website and 28.4% only recommend the use of CONSORT Statement. There is clearly room for improving the use of reporting guidelines in dental journals. Broadening the understanding and the endorsement/adherence/implementation of reporting guidelines by journals may promote quality and transparence of published dental research.

As universities cut library funding and forego expensive journal subscriptions, many academic organizations and researchers, including the American Educational Research Association (AERA), are moving toward open-access publications that are freely downloadable by anyone with a working internet connection. However, the impact of paywalls on the consumption of academic articles is unclear. We provide novel evidence on this question by exploiting a natural experiment in which six high-impact, usually gated AERA journals became open access for a 2-month period in 2017. Using monthly download data and an always-open-access journal as a comparison group, we show that making journals open access likely increased article downloads in those journals by 55% to 95% per month. Given a per-article download price of $36, this suggests a relatively elastic response: The average price elasticity of demand for downloads is 1.2, with individual journal elasticities ranging from 0.6 to 2.

Grounded theory has become one of the most commonly used qualitative research approaches. Since its first introduction, grounded theory methodology has taken on different iterations and evolved a number of variants. This review examined highly-ranked educational journals to determine grounded theory methodologies used most frequently by educational researchers. A total of 210 studies from 15 education journals were analyzed across 18 years of publication. A coding scheme was developed and used to categorize studies by type of methodological approach and inclusion of common grounded theory elements. Increasing variability in the types of grounded theory approaches was found in educational research over the last two decades. While educational researchers appear to prefer Straussian approaches to the design and analysis of grounded theory studies, Charmaz’s constructivist approach has increased in popularity over the last decade. In addition, most educational researchers used grounded theory as a data analysis technique rather than as a complete methodological approach. Only a small proportion of the 210 studies (29.5%) delineated a “grounded theory.” Finally, despite their publication in highly-ranked educational journals, methodological inconsistencies and descriptive cloudiness were evidenced across many of these grounded theory studies.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to establish a core serials list for “Single doctoral”, Carnegie classification universities offering Doctor of Education (EdD) programs in educational leadership based on a sample of six institutions over a six-year period. Design/methodology/approach – A citation analysis was used using a descriptive research design. The population was all dissertations accepted for the award of the EdD degree in Educational Leadership from 2005 to 2010 at six peer institutions. From this population, 20 dissertations from each institution were randomly selected during the period under study. Data were extracted from the title pages and reference lists. Extracted data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Serial titles were ranked according to a frequency-weighted index formula, which recorded the serial titles cited by the greatest percentage of students. Findings – It was found that the serials with the highest frequency weight depended, in part, on the period studied. The findings also showed that 84.2 per cent of the serial citations were represented by four Library of Congress classification areas: education (L); social sciences (H); medicine (R) and philosophy, psychology and religion (B). In addition, it was found that EdD students cited serials aged 10 years or less more than other sources of information materials. Originality/value – While other citation analyses of dissertations have been done, including some that compare dissertations at more than one institution, the author could find no other study of EdD dissertations, specifically, across a nationwide group of peer institutions. Further, the author could find no other citation analysis covering as many as six continuous years, which made a difference in the most frequently cited serial titles.

After consultation with the Associate Editors, the College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists, Cambridge University Press and with approval from the Australian Psychological Society (APS) it was agreed to change the name to The Educational and Developmental Psychologist. This change will take place from the 1st of January 2016 and is an attempt to improve the quantity, quality, and range of submissions to the journal. The journal will still be clearly embossed with the College and the APS logo and will continue to proudly promote high quality Australian psychological research. The change will hopefully attract more submissions from countries in North America and across Europe. It has been clear that some researchers would not consider publishing in small journals, which are obviously outside of their geographical area, so the name change is an attempt to give a more global appearance to the journal.

In this national survey of public school superintendents, respondents indicated the “best” and the most read from a list of 34 periodicals in education leadership. Their top choices for both highest quality and most read were, in order, Educational Leadership, Phi Delta Kappan, School Administrator, and American School Board Journal. Their primary criterion for selecting these journals was practical utility, not refereed scholarship. Therefore, professors who conduct research and publish it solely in journals perceived as unfamiliar to practitioners are, at least in the field of education leadership, missing a broader audience and direct influence on practice. Additionally, other education periodicals were not ranked often, but at least one periodical outside of education— Newsweek—ranked second only to Educational Leadership, among the responding superintendents for actual usage.

The rise of disciplines is connected with the formation of groups or networks of specialists. It is connected with the emergence of “scientific communities,” theorized about since Thomas Kuhn and Robert Merton. But how is such a community of specialists brought together; how are common orientations among members of a scientific community upheld? In this article it is argued that scholarly journals play a key role in the modern scientific disciplines. Journals both secure the shared values of a scientific community and endorse what that community takes to be certified knowledge. Publications in scholarly journals have become the basic units of scientific communication in a discipline. Against this theoretical background, I analyze in this article the evolution of the leading scholarly journal in the field of education in the Dutch-language community,Paedagogische Studiën (Studies in Education). The analyses illuminate a number of historical evolutions in this journal in the period 1920–75: the increase in coauthorship and the concomitant standardization of publication formats; the changing role of the editorial board, especially in its function of gatekeeper of scientific communication; and the increase and the shifting “global” nature of cited work in the journal. Because of the close relationship between journal and discipline, this analysis highlights basic characteristics of the patterns of communication and the constitution of disciplinary identity in Dutch-language educational science.

It is no mean feat, and many journals do not survive this long, or change their focus, or are much younger than the venerable AEDP. This longevity is due in no small measure to the professionalism and hard work of the various journal editors over the past 30 years. As we move forward with the partnership with Cambridge University Press, we are now listed with several key indices (e.g., SCOPUS and PsycINFO) and are currently undergoing assessment with Thomson Reuters for an impact factor. These are markers of quality and it is essential that the journal embarks on these strategies so as to ensure the future of the journal itself, as well as making it a more appealing submission prospect for high quality Australian and international authors.

This journal analysis identifies types of articles published in 11 highly visible journals relevant to special education from 1988 through 2006 paying particular attention to intervention research. It was concluded that (a) research articles represent the largest category of articles published across all journals, (b) the proportion of intervention research studies published (15.9%) is disappointingly small, (c) academic intervention research is conducted more frequently than social intervention research, (d) reading intervention research represents the largest area of academic intervention research, and (e) intervention research employing preschool and elementary students with disabilities is published more frequently than research with middle and secondary students. Findings are discussed with respect to implications for research, practice, and policy in special education.

A relation between the usage and citations of subscribed online journals might provide a basis for the collection management in the libraries of academic and research institutions. The current study resolved to identify whether relationship exists between usage of subscribed online journals and their citations in the academic publications of the health science professionals from 2010 to 2015. The </span><span>study found a statistically significant relationship between subscribed online journal usage and their citations in the </span><span>publications through the inferential test of Spearman’s rank-order correlation. For collection development of online journals, libraries can utilise the usage or citation data of journals as a decision making tool. </span></p></div></div></div>

This article examines the role of Majallat al-Kulliyyah al-‘Arabiyyah, a ‘School Journal’ published by the Arab College in Jerusalem during the Mandatory period. This School Journal was a key agent of modernisation, enlightenment and national awareness among the Palestinian people. A period of intense national struggle, the Mandatory period was replete with political and military upheavals that decided the fate of the country and ended with the expulsion of more than half of the Palestinians and the Palestine Nakba of 1948. Among the most significant cultural changes during the Mandate, that had a major positive impact on Palestinians, was the expansion of the press, including the School Journals. These School Journals played a crucial role in widening the circle of education in Palestine, reducing illiteracy rates, advancing modernisation processes in Arab society and, importantly, promoting Palestinian Arab nationalist ideas as an instrument of national struggle against British colonialism and the Zionist settler movement in Palestine. The article focuses on Majallat al-Kulliyyah al-‘Arabiyyah as the most widespread and influential Arab School Journal during the Mandate period and analyses the key role played by this School Journal in Palestinian educational institutions and the Palestinian national-political struggles during the Mandatory period.

This study explores the methodology presented in four leading educational leadership journals for a period of three years to investigate the predominant methodologies reported in journals most read by faculty members in educational administration or leadership programs. This content analysis study uses frequency and percentages to gather data on the published methodologies of four educational leadership journals. We used an established coding protocol, and our coding was not interpretive. The analysis revealed that qualitative methods were published more frequently than quantitative methods in the leading educational leadership journals with an emphasis on studies using a descriptive qualitative design, a descriptive quantitative design, correlational research, and case studies. This study replicated a study conducted by Wells, Kolek, Williams, and Saunders (2015) which was a content analysis of three major higher education journals to examine the methodologic characteristics of published research from 1996-2000 and 2006-2010 respectively. The authors discuss the relevance of the study for EdD programs in Educational Administration/Leadership. The analysis may inform decisions about how to best develop scholar-practitioners’ capacity to use systemic and systematic inquiry to solve complex problems of practice.

Abstract: This study aims to map educational management studies in Indonesia, which includes the mapping of educational management studies in state and private colleges; as well as the comparison between the number of scientific journals and the number of educational management study programs from all levels of higher education in Indonesia. This study employed quantitative research methods and its data sources were originated from documents available on the website of Sinta Kemenristek/BRIN. The data were analyzed by employing descriptive statistics and explained by using descriptive narrations. The results show that there are 48 subjects of educational management studies in Indonesia and there are 299 authors who conduct studies on these subjects. These studies were published by 24 scientific journals. The subjects of educational management and Islamic educational management studies have the most sub-studies compared to other study subjects, including 12 sub-studies offered by these scientific journals. Moreover, there are 7 scientific journals owned by private Islamic colleges, 6 scientific journals owned by state colleges, 2 scientific journals owned by private colleges, and 1 scientific journals owned by a scientific community. Moreover, there are 7 scientific journals owned by private Islamic colleges, 6 scientific journals owned by state colleges, 2 scientific journals owned by private colleges, and 1 scientific journals owned by a scientific community. Keywords: Educational management; mapping scientific journals Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan kajian manajemen pendidikan di Indonesia, yang mencakup pemetaan kajian manajemen pendidikan di PTN dan PTS; serta perbandingan antara jumlah jurnal dengan jumlah program studi manajemen pendidikan dari semua jenjang pendidikan di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan sumber data dari dokumen di website sinta Kemenristek/BRIN. Analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif, dan dijelaskan dengan menggunakan kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan subyek kajian manajemen pendidikan di Indonesia tercatat sejumlah 48 dan terdapat 299 orang penulis yang mengkajinya. Terwadahi dalam jurnal yang berjumlah 24 jurnal. Subyek kajian Education Management/Islamic Education Management juga paling banyak memiliki sub kajian dibandingkan subyek kajian lainnya yaitu memiliki 12 sub kajian yang ditawarkan oleh jurnal. Jurnal terbanyak dimiliki oleh PTKIN yaitu 8 jurnal dan PTKIS dengan 7 jurnal, selebihnya 6 jurnal dari PTN, 2 jurnal dari PTS dan 1 jurnal dari komunitas keilmuan. Bloom (1956) pioneered the measurement of learning outcomes with a taxonomy of educational objectives, but educators often ignore affective learning objectives and focus on attaining cognitive objectives. This study examined student journals as a way to correct the overemphasis on cognitive objectives. Results suggested that course expectations and affective journal outcomes were important correlates of student evaluations of course outcomes even after controlling for the instructor, student gender, and student achievement. These findings have important implications for the use of student journals and for interventions aimed at increasing student evaluations of course outcomes.

Scientific journals are amongst the most important sources of information regarding the status, content and other relevant characteristics of educational rehabilitation. A content analysis of scientific journals in an area illuminates its main trends and development. This work seeks to analyse basic trademarks of educational rehabilitation practice in countries from Central and Eastern Europe, specifically 15 post-socialist countries which have, during the 1990s, seen substantial political and social changes. This research includes 4 scientific journals in which educational rehabilitation scientists have published most of the existing scientific work during the period from 2008 to 2016. These are: Croatian Review of Rehabilitation Research, Journal of Special Education and Rehabilitation, Research in Developmental Disabilities and Special Education. This research is based on an analysis of 273 published abstracts, by means of quantitative content analysis.
The main hypothesis was that educational rehabilitation science in European post-socialist countries has recognisable content and method, with the primary purpose of developing scientifically verified interventions. These contribute to the promotion of developmental, educational and social status for people with various difficulties. Such a hypothesis has been partially confirmed. It was established that there is recognisable content and method, but the predominance of scientifically verified interventions has not been established. The science of educational rehabilitation is primarily characterised by themes of specific abilities of a certain group of people with disabilities. This includes an analysis of the efficiency of various interventative methods being present in one third of the publications. In conclusion, the results of this research indicate the need for further improvement of scientific activities within the science of educational rehabilitation in Central and Eastern Europe, both in diversity of the scientific methodology and regarding a focus on the interventions themselves (including evaluation, but also the theoretical basis regarding their meaningfulness).
