Critical analysis, innovation and application: these are the three main elements of this work that deals with the study of geosystems and landscapes. The development and description of a new concept and method base for the analysis of the spatial and temporal dynamics of the geosystems and landscapes represents the research object of the first part of the work. Based on a vast bibliography, this work innovates and proposes new ways of approaching the geographical space, in a geo-kinetic and geo-cybernetic perspective. This theoretical approach is systematically followed in the second part of the work, by means of the specific applications for the territory of the Jijia Baseu hilly Plain (or Moldavian Plain). This territory that makes the subject of our research work occupies about 8000 kmø in the northeastern part of Romania and, despite the appearances, it presents a high diversity of the natural components of the geosystem from the point of view of their state, dynamics and spatio-temporal rhythm. Applying both classical research methods as well as the methods developed in this work, we have obtained results which: improve the knowledge on this territory; offer a new perspective on the functional and spatio-temporal dynamics of its components; confirm previous knowledge; allow the establishing of more precise geographical limits. At the same time, the development of the concepts and methods (including the results) presented in this work create new possibilities for further research on he Jijia Baseu hilly Plain and they can be used successfully for the study of other geographical spaces
Chelu, Maria-Alexandra. "Hydroclimatic drought and its impacts on vegetation in south-eastern Romania." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Rennes 2, 2023. http://www.theses.fr/2023REN20050.
The south-eastern part of Romania is particularly vulnerable to drought. The aim of this study is to analyze hydroclimatic drought in this region and its impact on natural and cultivated vegetation. The variability of hydroclimatic parameters relevant to drought is analyzed: precipitation, temperatures, evapotranspiration and river flow. Drought is then studied using standardized drought indices and the evaporation deficit obtained using the water balance method. The final part of the thesis focuses on assessing the response of vegetation to drought, based on the Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), in different land cover types and ecoregions. At the regional level, NDVI trends and interannual variability of NDVI anomalies in different land cover types (arable land, forest, pasture and grassland) are examined. In addition, NDVI variability is studied in detail in deciduous forests in five study areas. The results reveal variations in vegetation condition and phenological parameters in response to drought between 2001 and 2020, particularly during two selected dry periods (2007 - 2008 and 2019 - 2020)

Paleoecological studies of five wetlands from the Eastern Romanian Carpathians and from the southwestern part of Transylvania depression were accomplished. Eleven pollen diagrams established by 1165 pollen spectra and supported by 64 14C datings make it possible to reconstitute the Late Glacial and Holocene vegetation history. Durind the Late Glacial interstadial the forest recolonisation begin with the Pinus developpement, without the Betula phase. Picea begin to expend from the refuges. After an Younger Dryas well marked, the Holocene begin with the Betula, Ulmus and Picea expansion, then, at about 9,000 BP, by that of Fraxinus, Quercus and Tilia. Corylus optimum is correlated with the Atlantic chronozone (after 8,000 BP), that of Carpinus is characteristic of Subboreal (at about 5,000 BP). The forests of Fagus are spread starting from 4,000 BP. The first evidences of cultivation of cereals appear around 6,500 B. P. The regional diachronisms evidences makes it possible to reconstitute the migration routes of some forest taxa

In the east of the Alps, Romania is with the crossroads of the trajectories borrowed by the mPh resulting from space atlantico-European. The arched form of Carpates takes part as much in the retention as with the scission of the masses of air and the acceleration of flows. With the right of the carpatic curve, the AMP are diffusedt in range above the Romanian plain where they cause powerful Mediterranean advections. Climatic dynamic associates the repetition of characteristic aerological structures, meteorotypes which are the mark of a confrontation and the atmospheric brutality in charge for a distinct seasonal cutting between two principal seasons and two curtailed middle seasons. With before and with the back of this range, the seasonal rhythm is less distinct. But on the scale of the interannual evolution, the climate records a succession increasingly faster aerological structures, meteorotypes and "seasons” increasingly more distinct. Orographical node with the borders of the Central and Eastern Europe, Romania holds the climatic characteristics of these areas. Four climatic spaces are distinguished. Western extra-carpatic Romania belongs to climatic space central-European with a strong solar radiation, modest rainfall but with a summer dryness and a temperature pattern marked by a strong amplitude. Eastern extra-carpatic Romania with some southern periphery of the Eastern and Russian Europe conditions characterized by least lasted of the sunning, an average annual amplitude thermal less low but with very rigorous winters and summers a little less hot, modest annual rainfall but snowy and a mode of constant wind of northern sector in east. Transylvania consigns a hypertrophied outgrowth of the climatic conditions listed to the west with basins intra-carpatic prolongation of the Moldavian climatic conditions. Southern extra-carpatic Romania with weather conditions strongly modified by a geographical situation open on the Black Sea in the axis of the carpatic curve
