Анотація:

We studied pseudoscorpions of the genera Roncus L. Koch, 1873 and Acanthocreagris Mahnert, 1976 (Neobisiidae) from some caves in Romania. One new species - Roncus zburatorul n. sp. - is described; supplementary descriptions of the hitherto unknown male of R. ciobanmos Curcic, Poinar, and Sarbu, 1993 and a second female of A. callaticola (Dumitresco and Orghidan, 1964) are also presented. The specimens studied are thoroughly described and illustrated. Taxonomic interrelationships and geographic distribution are briefly discussed.

Анотація:

The goblin spider genus Cinetomorpha Simon is removed from the synonymy of Gamasomorpha Karsch and treated as the senior synonym of Yumates Chamberlin and Lucetia Dumitresco & Georgesco. All 41 species occur only in the New World, and the genus is divided into four species groups: the simplex group, the puberula group, the patquiana group and the itabaiana group. The following species are transferred to Cinetomorpha: C. floridana (Banks), comb. nov., and C. sedata (Gertsch & Mulaik), comb. nov., from Opopaea; C. angela (Chamberlin), comb. nov., and C. nesophila (Chamberlin), comb. nov., from Yumates; and C. patquiana (Birabén) and C. platensis (Birabén), comb. nov., from Gamasomorpha. Gamasomorpha wasmanniae Mello-Leitão and Lucetia distincta Dumitresco & Georgesco are newly synonymized with C. simplex Simon. Two species currently in Gamasomorpha are transferred to Hexapopha Platnick & Berniker: H. brasiliana (Bristowe), comb. nov. and H. m-scripta (Birabén), comb. nov. Анотація:

Some of the taxonomic characters originally argued for the Cuban monotypic genus Cubacanthozomus Teruel, 2007, are unsubstantial. Others were misinterpretations of drawings given in the original description of Schizomus rowlandi Dumitresco, 1973, the only source of taxonomic information on which Teruel (2007) based the new genus. Recently a new collection of this species was made in a small cave about 350 m from one of the caves mentioned in the original description: Cueva de Majana, Baracoa municipality, Guantánamo province. On the basis of new morphological evidence found during examination of two females and a male, both the genus Cubacanthozomus and its type-species are herein redescribed. Cueva de Majana is recognized as the true type locality of C. rowlandi, which male holotype was erroneously listed as being collected in a cave from central Cuba, 600 km away. Additional data are provided on the morphology, natural history and conservation status of C. rowlandi, which is now being proposed as an endangered species.

As an extension of the class of Dedekind domains, we have introduced and studied the class of multiplicatively pinched-Dedekind domains (MPD domains) and the class of Globalized multiplicatively pinched-Dedekind domains (GMPD domains) ([T. Dumitrescu and S. U. Rahman, A class of pinched domains, Bull. Math. Soc. Sci. Math. Roumanie 52 (2009) 41–55] and [T. Dumitrescu and S. U. Rahman, A class of pinched domains II, Comm. Algebra 39 (2011) 1394–1403]). The main interest of this paper is to study GMPD domains that have only finitely many overrings.

Анотація:

Romanian composer Iancu Dumitrescu began writing music in the late 1960s and early 1970s and has enjoyed a successful career in his home country, albeit one with limited exposure in the English-speaking world. The collapse of communism and the fall of the Romanian regime in 1989 sparked a new and revitalized era in Dumitrescu's career that has culminated in numerous features in prominent music magazines such as Musicworks and The Wire. Until now, however, there has been no serious analysis of Dumitrescu's music and his philosophically inspired techniques of composition. Often described as a member of the Romanian spectral school alongside the likes of Horatiu Radulescu and Octavian Nemescu, Dumitrescu is also known for his interest in the phenomenology of Edmund Husserl. In this thesis I analyze two of Iancu Dumitrescu's chamber works for strings, Alternances (1&2) (1967) and Movemur et Sumus (3) (1977).

Abstract This chapter examines interpretive approaches to some performance scenarios unique to spectral ensemble works by composers Gérard Grisey and Iancu Dumitrescu, developed by first-hand experience conducting their music with the ensembles Either/Or (New York) and Hyperion International (Bucharest). Of special note is the unique role of the conducting-composer (“interpretive conductor”) in Dumitrescu’s music and how this role helps his music break free from barriers of conventional notation to best incorporate acoustic phenomenon in real time performance. This chapter examines non-metric time organization and intonation as a compositional building block in Grisey’s Périodes (1974), as well as Dumitrescu’s “phenomenological” approach to notation, electronics, instrumentation, performers, conducting, and rehearsals in Unstable Molecule and Black Holes Collisions (2016).

Анотація:

As in all areas of human life, energy plays a vital role in these areas as well. However, reasons such as the risk of depletion of traditional energy sources, damage to the environment, and supply shocks have led to more discussion of renewable energy sources. The aim of the study is to analyze the relationship between renewable energy and human development for 37 OECD countries for the period 1990-2018. For this purpose, Gengenbach, Urbain, and Westerlund panel cointegration test and Dumitrescu-Hurlin panel causality tests were applied. Empirical results reveal that the increase in the rate of renewable energy consumption in total energy consumption positively affects human development. Also, the Dumitrescu-Hurlin panel causality test shows that there is no causality between human development and renewable energy consumption. These results will help policy makers and government officials in OECD countries better understand the role of renewable energy in the human development process.

Анотація:

Corruption can be expressed as the abuse of public power for specific purposes and goals. The corruption in the public sector occurs as a result of state employees acting upon the private interests rather than public interest. The public borrowing policy is important for ensuring and maintaining the economic stability in a country. The high level of public borrowing is one of the important factors leading macroeconomic instability. Many institutional, economic, social, and political factors have been revealed as the determinants of public sector borrowing level. In this study, the causality relationship between corruption and public debt in 11 EU transition economies for the period of 2002-2017 was analyzed through causality tests of Kónya and Dumitrescu and Hurlin. Kónya panel bootstrap causality test revealed a one-way causality from public debt borrowing to corruption Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Romania, and Slovenia and a one-way causality from corruption to public debt borrowing in Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia. The Dumitrescu and Hurlin causality test discovered a bidirectional causality relationship between public debt borrowing and corruption.

In this research, the authors explore the causal interaction between population aging and health expenditures in a sample of EU member economies during the 2000-2018 period through Dumitrescu and Hurlin causality analysis. The causality analysis revealed a unilateral causality from health expenditures to population aging.

Анотація:

The study looks at Economic growth and environmental pollution: an assessment of the Environmental Kuznets Curve in Brazil from 1990 to 2018. The ADF-Fisher, PP-Fisher, Im Pesaran, and Chin unit root tests checked stationarity. The VAR model was used to check the influence of individual endogenous variables, and the Wald test was used to determine the variables’ combined impact. The researchers used the Pairwise Dumitrescu Hurlin panel causality (PDHPC) and Pairwise Granger causality tests to assess all of the hypotheses. At order one, the variables are integrated. The lag order used for further calculations is the Akaike Information Criterion. The Fisher cointegration test revealed the cointegration according to the individual cross-section result. According to the Pairwise Dumitrescu Hurlin panel causality (PDHPC) and Pairwise Granger causality tests, economic growth and carbon dioxide emissions are bidirectional. Both the PDHPC and the PGCT support the environmental Kuznets curve theory. Because the EKC hypothesis exists in Brazil, the study concluded that both pure and filthy productions coincide. When Brazil reaches a particular level of development, however, its population may seek a healthier environment, and governments in these countries may pass stricter environmental regulations to encourage cleaner industry. When followed, the procedures may help to improve environmental quality.

As a result of Pedroni Panel Cointegration and Dumitrescu-Hurlin Panel Causality Analysis, there is a relationship between the market values of domestic firms traded on the stock exchange and the stock index. In addition, a two-way causality relationship was found. This situation indicates that this relationship is very powerful. It can be understood that adding domestic companies to the stock market has a significant effect on the stock prices and this will attract foreign investors to enter the market.

Agriculture is a very important activity for developing countries, and generally takes place in rural areas. Therefore, the urbanization directly affects agricultural activities. In this study, the relationship between agricultural productivity and urbanization is examined. In this context, carbon emission, representing environmental quality, was added as a control variable in the model. Because agricultural activities get their source from natural resources and the environment. The data set covers from 1992 to 2018 for 17 developing countries. According to the analysis, it was understood that the series were not co-integrated. According to the Dumitrescu Hurlin causality test, urbanization and carbon emissions are the cause of agricultural productivity. In addition, according to the same test results, it is not the cause of agricultural productivity, urbanization and carbon emissions.

Foreign Direct investments are interest to emerging countries as they may fuel growth. Countries compete with each other to attract new direct investment as they are permanent. This paper searches the relationship between technology transfer and economic growth in ten Eurasian countries via panel data analysis. For this purpose, gross domestic product, foreign direct investment, and current account balance are used as variables. The sample period is from 2000 to 2018. Dumitrescu and Hurlin panel causality test is used to because of heterogeneity The study provides evidence for a causal relationship from current account balances to GDP, and FDI to current account balance. Interestingly, the study provides evidence for no causal relationship from FDI to GDP but GDP levels affect FDI levels. Also, there is no found cointegration relationship between the variables.

Presented and researched along with the publication of the painted monuments, the votive paintings of the ecclesiastical foundations of the lords and nobles of the Romanian space, benefited a systematic analysis only around 1990, in the study signed by Matei Cazacu and Ana Dumitrescu. Although the votive images from Moldova of the 15th-16th centuries are studied here in particular, the broader context includes the whole Romanian area, with extension into the Balkan Slavic areas (especially Serbian). In the present research we will attempt to divide the painted churches and therefore the votive images within them according to their type of foundation. Despite the differences highlighted here to make this classification possible, it is important to point out that all these votive images have more in common and are marked by a unique style, specific only to Moldova.

The examination considers the causality between financial development and carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions in the sample of six Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries in the period range between 2000 to 2020. Utilizing the Dumitrescu and Hurlin panel causality test, the results confirmed a one-way causality, where financial development precedes changes in CO₂ emissions. The observed one-way causality suggests that improvements or advancements in financial development might have implications for environmental sustainability. Additionally, the Westerlund error-correction–based panel cointegration tests reveal cointegration between the variables, indicating a stable equilibrium association among them in the complete sample of countries. As countries strive for economic growth and development, it becomes crucial to consider the environmental consequences and adopt measures that promote sustainable practices. Policymakers and stakeholders must proactively recognize the potentially important role of financial development in shaping environmental outcomes and identify opportunities to effectively integrate sustainable practices into financial and economic strategies.

The main aim of this study is to empirically investigate the impact of energy consumption and foreign direct investments on carbon emissions and the validity of the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis in Eurasian countries over the period of 1993-2013. In this context, firstly cross-section dependency and homogeneity tests were applied for the the panel. The existence of unit root was investigated by one of the second-generation unit root test CIPS. The cointegration relationship between the variables was investigated with the Gengenbach, Urbain ve Westerlund panel cointegration test and finally, the causality relationship was examined using the Dumitrescu and Hurlin causality test. Empirical results indicate that there is no cointegraion between carbon dioxide emission representing environmental pollution and other variables. Also, it was concluded that the inverted U-shaped Environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis is not valid. There is a bidirectional causality between carbon emission and GDP, the square of GDP, energy consumption and foreign direct investment.

In an increasingly complex world of goods and services, as well as in the context of digitalization and Industry 4.0, previous product development for intelligent technical systems is reaching its limits. Due to shorter product life cycles, increasing complexity and a growing number of product variants, along with growing demands on the part of stakeholders, etc., new approaches to development are required (Czaja et al., 2017; Haberfellner et al., 2021).However, the use of new development approaches, such as advanced systems engineering (ASE), is accompanied by far-reaching changes for the organization and all people involved. ASE combines methods for system consideration and for requirements management with AI-influenced engineering processes in which all relevant information – from the business idea to market success – is integrated into the development process across disciplines in order to efficiently design the development of complex cyber-physical systems (Dumitrescu et al., 2021).Such new development approaches require a redesign of work organization, as well as versatile competencies and skillsets going beyond classical engineering. Advanced soft skills and new work competencies such as communication, teamwork and agile work methods become more important for example through the introduction of flat hierarchies or cross-functional work structures. Thus, new competencies and qualifications for future engineers are necessary for product development. Against this backdrop, the expansion of targeted competency management and higher education in the engineering sciences must adequately take these developments into account. This is because successful adaptation and transformation of companies in value creation is largely determined by their ability to build up the right competencies as well as to use existing competencies of employees and to develop them in a targeted manner (North et al., 2018).In this paper we outline the required competencies for engineers in the context of advanced systems engineering and derive a novel empirical competency model. Based on this empirical model, possibilities for the conceptualization of competency measures through the framework of constructive alignment at the academic level are presented. The environment of industrial enterprises is characterized not only by increasing volatility and uncertainty, but also by growing complexity and ambiguity (Ködding and Dumitrescu, 2022; Wonsak et al., 2021). For manufacturing process planning and CAM systems in use (CAM: Computer Aided Manufacturing), new requirements arise as a result of growing complexity and individualization of components, tools, and machines (Suhl and Isenberg, 2019; Jayasekara et al., 2019). In order to overcome these requirements, CAx system providers and researchers are currently developing approaches in technology-driven projects on how conventional support systems can be further developed, e.g., by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) (cf. Dripke et al., 2017). In technology development projects, however, the classic fields of work organization as well as other dimensions at the enterprise and individual level should be taken into account in addition to technology (Mütze-Niewöhner et al., 2022). In order to remain competitive, future developments must be considered by enterprises and systematically addressed in their strategic decisions (Ködding and Dumitrescu, 2022; Fink et al., 2005).This paper presents the application of scenario planning in the context of a technology-driven innovation project. Aim of this project with the acronym CAM2030 is to create a new generation of CAM systems by integrating innovative technologies, such as AI, evolutionary algorithms, and cloud computing in order to enable employees to perform manufacturing process planning for the production of complex products quickly, efficiently, and adeptly (cf. Burgert et al., 2022). To anticipate future developments of the work of CAM users, the scenario planning method by Fink and Siebe (2016) was used. Scenarios take into account that the future of work is open and uncertain, but will take place within a limited range of development possibilities (Burmeister et al., 2019). The intention within CAM2030 was to ensure that estimations of future support needs of CAM users are considered in the technology development activities. Since the scenario planning was tested for the first time in the context of the technology-driven project, the focus of this paper is on the application and discussion of the method. First, it provides a brief introduction to the applied scenario planning method according to Fink and Siebe (2016). Second, the procedure is described and methodological findings are discussed, e.g., to what extent the concept helped to successively guide the participants through scenario planning process. Challenges included, e.g., the involvement of multiple stakeholders, time demands on all participants, and enabling participants to focus on the open and uncertain development of CAM planning work within the technology-driven project. Third, as an outlook, it is reflected to what extent the applied method may support a future strategic decision-making process.

The economic freedom index measures whether the factors that enable the realization of economic activities prevent or help the realization of these activities. In the literature, there is a dominant view that countries that are less exposed to restrictions in economic activities will have higher economic growth tendencies. Despite this, discussions about the direction of the relationship between economic freedoms and economic growth variables continue. In this study, it is aimed to measure whether there is a relationship between economic freedoms and growth in the sample of countries in the period of 1995-2021 and to measure the direction of a possible causality between the variables. In the study, data on economic growth were obtained from UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), and data on economic freedoms were obtained from the Heritage Foundation website. For the purpose, cross-section dependency test, unit root tests, homogeneity test, panel cointegration test, long-term coefficient estimation test and causality tests were performed respectively. As a result of the estimation of the long-term coefficients with the random coefficients model (RCM), it was found that a 1% increase in economic freedoms increased economic growth by 0.6% in MIKTA (Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Türkiye and Australia) countries. According to the results of the Dumitrescu-Hurlin (2012) panel causality test, it was found that there is bidirectional causality between economic freedom and growth variables. Therefore, it is recommended that policy makers include policies that expand and encourage property rights, judiciary, government integrity, financial health, government expenditures, business, labor, trade, investment and financial freedoms.
