Background: Treatment recommendations (guidelines) are commonly represented in text form. Based on parameters (questions) recommendations are defined (answers). Objectives: To improve handling, alternative forms of representation are required. Methods: The concept of Dodes (diagnostic nodes) has been developed. Dodes contain answers and questions. Dodes are based on linked nodes and additionally contain descriptive information and recommendations. Dodes are organized hierarchically into Dode trees. Dode categories must be defined to prevent redundancy. Results: A centralized and neutral Dode database can provide standardization, which is a requirement for the comparison of recommendations. Centralized administration of Dode categories can provide information about diagnostic criteria (Dode categories) underutilized in existing recommendations (Dode trees). Conclusions: Representing clinical recommendations in Dode trees improves their manageability, handling and updateability.

The real-time traffic signal control for intersection requires dynamic turning movements as the basic input data. It is impossible to detect dynamic turning movements directly through current traffic surveillance systems, but dynamic origin-destination (O-D) estimation can obtain it. However, the combined models of dynamic O-D estimation and real-time traffic signal control are rare in the literature. A framework for the multiobjective traffic signal control model for intersection based on dynamic O-D estimation (MSC-DODE) is presented. A state-space model using Kalman filtering is first formulated to estimate the dynamic turning movements; then a revised sequential Kalman filtering algorithm is designed to solve the model, and the root mean square error and mean percentage error are used to evaluate the accuracy of estimated dynamic turning proportions. Furthermore, a multiobjective traffic signal control model is put forward to achieve real-time signal control parameters and evaluation indices. Finally, based on practical survey data, the evaluation indices from MSC-DODE are compared with those from Webster method. The actual and estimated turning movements are further input into MSC-DODE, respectively, and results are also compared. Case studies show that results of MSC-DODE are better than those of Webster method and are very close to unavailable actual values.

AbstractThis screening study analyzed ploidy levels by counting the chromosome number of 61 Aigeiros cultivars grown in China. Triploid Aigeiros has been found in four of these cultivars: Populus x euramericana (Dode) Guiner cv. Wuhei-1, P. × Liaohenica, P. Langfangensis-3 Wang (P. deltodide Barry cv. “Shanhaiguan” × P. simonii × P. pyramidalis-12 +Ulmus pumila Linn.), and P. × euramericana (Dode) Guinier. cv. “Zhonglin-46”. The karyotype analysis indicates that triploid Aigeiros might be derived from original allotriploid. Because growth of the triploid trees was faster than their respective diploid hybrids or clones in the plantations where we collected the materials, we expect that they will play a significant role in breeding, reforestation and fiber production in China.

ÖZET Vücuttaki kullanım yerlerine bağlı olarak implant üretiminde kullanılan malzeme türü değişmektedir. CoCr alaşımı yüksek dayanım, aşınma ve korozyon direnci gibi avantajlarından dolayı kalça implantlarında oldukça sık kullanılmaktadır. Gelişen eklemeli imalat teknolojisi sayesinde farklı yoğunluklara sahip gözenekli kalça implantları üretilebilmektedir. Üretilen gözenekli kalça implantları daha düşük elastisite modülüne sahip olduğundan kemik ve implant arasında oluşan gerilmeler azaltılabilmektedir ve böylelikle implant üzerinde meydana gelen gevşeme, kırılma, deformasyon gibi problemler ortadan kaldırılabilmektedir. Tasarlanan iskelelerin, yeni oluşturulan hücrelerin iç mimarisini desteklemesi gerekir. Bu nedenle vücutta kullanılan iskele yapılar kemiğin mekanik dayanımını korumak zorundadır. Bir kemik iskelesinin elastik modül, basınç ve gerilme dayanımı, maksimum gerilme ve bükülme modülü gibi mekanik özellikleri kemiklerin ve sert bağ dokularının yerine başarıyla geçebilecek şekilde olmalıdır ve hastanın kullanımında ya da düzenli faaliyetleri sırasında çökmemelidir. Bu yüzden yapılan bu çalışmada farklı birim hücre modelleri kullanılarak, hücre yoğunluğu ve şekil geometrisi belirlenip basma testine tabi tutulmuştur. Yapılan testler sonucunda iskeleler boyunca deformasyonun nasıl dağıldığı araştırılmış, değişen hücre modellerinin sonuçları karşılaştırılmıştır. Mekanik testler sonucunda iskele yapılarda farklı porozite oranları ve birim hücreler kullanıldığı için modeller birbirinden farklı mekanik özellikler göstermiştir. İskele modellerde maksimum gerilme Body Diagonalw With Nodes modelinde 247,58 MPa olarak ölçülürken, Dode Thick modelinde 240.7 MPa, Dode Thin modelinde 227.19 MPa olarak ölçülmüştür. Walnut oil is a high-value oil product. Investigation of the variation and the main climatic factors affecting the oil’s chemical composition is vital for breeding and oil quality improvement. Therefore, the fatty acid, micronutrients, and secondary metabolites compositions and contents in walnut oil were determined in three species: Juglans regia L. (common walnut), J. sigillata Dode (iron walnut), and their hybrids (Juglans sigillata Dode × J. regia L.), which were cultivated aat different sites. The major fatty acids were linoleic (51.39–63.12%), oleic (18.40–33.56%), and linolenic acid (6.52–11.69%). High variation in the contents of fatty acids, micronutrients, and secondary metabolites was found between both species and sites. Interestingly, myristic, margaric, and margaroleic acid were only detected in the hybrids’ walnut oil, yet α-tocopherol was only detected in common and iron walnut oil. Climatic factors significantly affected the composition and content of fatty acid, whereas δ-tocopherol was mostly dependent on the genetic factors. The average relative humidity explained the most variation in the fatty acids, micronutrients, and secondary metabolites, which showed a significant positive and negative effect on the monounsaturated fatty acids and polyunsaturated fatty acids, respectively. These findings contribute to the provision of better guidance in matching sites with walnut trees, and improvement of the nutritional value of walnut oil.

Anatomieal properties of three Euramerican hybrid poplar [Populus × euramericana (Dode) Guinier] clones, the Italian 'I-214' and the Hungarian 'Kopecky' and 'Koltay', were investigated. Six trees from each clone were sampled from plantations (aged 15 and 10 years) at two sites in Hungary. Disks were removed at breast height from each tree to study the effect of age on variation of anatomical properties. Along the eastern radius, vesscl and fibre parameters were measured for each growth ring using an image analyser.

Het bronnenonderzoek leidt tot de conclusie dat zorgplicht een veelomvattend begrip is, dat de beschrijvingen van overtreden van de zorgplicht en naleven van de zorgplicht niet elkaars spiegelbeeld vormen, dat zorgplicht zowel inspanning als resultaat omvat en dat de invulling van de zorgplicht overlap vertoont met andere wettelijke vereisten. Auteurs betogen dat een wetswijziging wellicht de oplossing biedt.

Gene introgression usually results from natural hybridization occurring among closely related species in sympatric populations. In this study, we discussed two rare and frequent gene flow phenomena between three species of Juglans plants and analyzed the possible causes for the difference. We collected 656 individuals from 40 populations of Persian walnut (Juglans regia L.), Chinese walnut (J. cathayensis Dode), and Iron walnut (J. sigillata Dode) that were genotyped at 17 expressed sequence tag simple sequence repeat (EST-SSR) loci to analyze the introgressions between J. regia and J. cathayensis, and J. regia and J. sigillata. Our study compared the spatial patterns of expected heterozygosity (HE), allelic richness (Rs), and private allele richness (PAR) so as to vividly infer the biogeographic history of related species of Juglans in the two regions. The results of the PCoA, UPGMA, and STRUCTURE analyses showed that all J. regia and J. sigillata populations clustered into one group, and the J. cathayensis populations clustered into the other group. The results of the historical gene flow analysis indicated that J. regia and J. sigillata have no genetic barriers, and the directional gene flow is mainly from J. regia to J. sigillata. For the three species of Juglans, all the above results indicated that gene flow was common among the same group of Juglans, and only rare and low-level gene flow appeared in distinct groups. Therefore, our study revealed multiple phenomena of gene flow and introgression among closely related species in sympatric populations, thereby providing a theoretical basis for the genetic evolution of the genus Juglans.

Poplars occupy about 31.4 million ha in the world, while in Serbia poplars spread over the area of 48.000 ha. The subject of this research are artificially raised poplar plantations, consisting of poplar clone I-214 (Populus?euramericana (Dode) Guinier cl. I-214) and poplar clone Pannonia (Populus?euramericana (Dode) Guinier cl. Pannonia). Field activities of collecting data required for this research were conducted in two phases. The first phase of data collection included measurement of tree diameter. Also, the numbering, marking and recording of poplar rows, as well as each poplar in the row, was conducted. The second phase of data collection was conducted after the felling of trees that were selected for detailed measurement of the elements required for theoretical cross cutting. In accordance with the general principles of cross cutting, as well as the principles of maximum financial effect, the qualitative partition of trunks into several variants was performed. The classification of wood assortments was performed on the basis of SRPS wood standards. The share of technical wood for veneer (F and L class) in the analyzed poplar trees clone I-214 is 47.54% of the total volume of wood assortments. When it comes to the clone Pannonia, logs for cutting (quality class II), have the greatest share in total volume of wood assortments with 44.08. There is no statistically significant difference between the total volume and the value of the assortments of the two analyzed poplar clones, except when it comes to assortments for chemical exploitation where statistical differences exist.

Morphological variation of leaves and pubescence of buds and shoots from Chinese aspen taxa (sect. Populus of Populus) were studied and compared with those of North American aspens. Data were analyzed for 648 clones from 19 Provinces of Chinese aspen taxa identified on herbarium specimens as P. bonatii Gomb., P. davidiana Dode, P. rotundifolia Griff. var. bonatii Gomb., P. rotundifolia Griff. var. duclouxiana (Dode) Gomb., and P. tremula L. In addition, data from field collections of intact shoots of 137 clones of P. davidiana (Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Shaanxi Provinces) and from 821 clones of P. tremula from Europe were also analyzed. Leaf morphology of herbarium specimens identified as P. davidiana, the most widely distributed Chinese taxon, varied markedly among populations, especially between northern and southwestern China. Clones of P. davidiana from northern and northwestern China were markedly different from those of the P. rotundifolia complex of southwestern China. However, clones identified as P. davidiana from southwestern China were similar to those of P. rotundifolia in leaf shape, number of teeth, and pubescence; they differed only in leaf size. Striking within- and among-population differences were found for field collections of P. davidiana in northeast China. Buds and seasonally determinate shoots of P. davidiana were glabrous in northeast and north-central China; pubescence increased markedly to the southwest. Buds and shoots of clones of the P. rotundifolia complex and P. tremula were predominantly pubescent. The Eurasian aspen taxa are enormously polymorphic in leaf morphology and pubescence; clinal variation along geographic gradients in China, Japan, and Europe are pronounced. Based on studies to date, we would tend to recognize P. davidiana and P. rotundifolia as races of P. tremula. It may be that in all of Eurasia there is but a single, highly polymorphic species, viz. The effect of plantation density on the stem volume development phases of mean trees of Populus x euramericana (Dode) Guinier, cl. I-214 were studied in the test plantation aged 25 years with two different planting densities 4.25x4.25 m (treatment A) and 6.00x6.00 m (treatment B). The modeling of stem volume growth of mean trees enabled the identification of development phases based on biological laws. Different growth dynamics of mean trees of the clone I-214, depending on plantation density, had a clear effect on the beginning and the end of individual phases, i.e. subphases of development, as well as on the diameters, heights and volumes of mean trees at the end of each phase of volume development.

The essential oils from inflorescences, fruits and leaves of Phellodendron lavallei Dode were analyzed by GC, GC/MS and 1H NMR spectroscopy. About 100 compounds were identified. The principal components in the fruit oil were myrcene (47.7–52.0%) and limonene (38.4–40.9%), followed by germacrene D (1.2–3.2%) and ( E)-β-caryophyllene (2.4–2.9%). The inflorescence oil contained mainly myrcene (44.8%), limonene (43.2%) and ( E)-β-ocimene (4.1%). The main constituents of the leaf oil were limonene (26.7%) myrcene (22.1%), ( E,E)-α-farnesene (5.6%) and α-pinene (5.0%). The antibacterial activity was examined towards both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The fruit oil showed weak activity against the bacteria tested.

Juglans sigllata Dode, known as the iron walnut, is widely planted in Liangshan prefecture of southwest China for its nuts and wood. Liangshan prefecture is a major traditional growing area of J. sigllata and has unique advantages for walnut industrial development because of its good soil, climate, and availability of water. Currently there are 2.7 million hectares of walnut, contributing important incomes for farmers. In April 2013, numerous J. sigllata were found infected with root rot in the Muli county of Liangshan prefecture. Symptoms included dried leaves, dead branchcs, and even death. Rotted roots were collected and surface-sterilized in 2% NaOCl and 70% ethanol. The junction (1 cm) between infected and healthy regions was removed, plated on rose bengal-glycerin-urea medium, and incubated at 20°C for 12 h. A fungus was found and purified successively by transferring hyphal tips from the margin of a thinly growing colony on 2% water agar (3). Morphological characteristics were identified both on potato dextrose agar (PDA) and carnation leaf-piece agar. Evaluation of pigmentation and colony growth rate were also measured using PDA. Ovoid microconidia (average dimensions 10.6 × 9.1 μm) were observed after 2 to 3 days, and most of them had no septa or only one septum. Macroconidia (average dimensions 47.4 × 5.3 μm), with one to three septate sickle shapes, were found after 3 to 6 days. Single or paired chlamydospores (average dimensions 10.3 × 9.2 μm), which were circular to ovate, smooth or not smooth, were observed after 7 days of incubation in clean water. According to the cultural characteristics, the fungus was primarily identified as Fusarium solani (1). To better determine the species, universal primers ITS1/ITS4 for the ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) coupled with translation elongation factor (EF-1α) primers EF1/EF2 were used for PCR-based molecular identification. Against GenBank and the FUSARIUM-ID databases, our sequences shared 99 and 98% identities with ITS (FJ459973.1) and EF-1α (JX677562.1) of F. solani, respectively. Both sequences produced in this study have been deposited in GenBank under accession numbers KJ528277 for ITS and KJ528278 for EF-1α. Pathogenicity tests were conducted by drop inoculating 20 ml of microconidia suspension (106 spores/ml) on the roots of 1-year-old healthy potted J.sigllata, Mianyang walnut, and Xinjiang walnut. Controls were not treated with F. solani. Fifteen plants were in each group. All materials, including pots and soil, were disinfected. After 12 days, all J. sigllata inoculated with F. solani exhibited dried leaves, and after 17 days, Mianyang walnut and Xinjiang walnut infected with F. solani also developed the same symptoms. After 24 days, the inoculated J. sigllata died. However, control plants remained asymptomatic. The fungus re-isolated from infected roots showed the same characteristics as described above and was totally identical in appearance to the isolates used to inoculate the plants. No colonies of F. solani were isolated from untreated plants. At present, F. solani has been reported in stem cankers on English walnut in South Africa (2).
