Mixed reality (MR) is rapidly becoming a vital tool, not just in gaming, but also in education, medicine, construction and environmental management. The term refers to systems in which computer-generated content is superimposed over objects in a real-world environment across one or more sensory modalities. Although most of us have heard of the use of MR in computer games, it also has applications in military and aviation training, as well as tourism, healthcare and more. In addition, it has the potential for use in architecture and design, where buildings can be superimposed in existing locations to render 3D generations of plans. However, one major challenge that remains in MR development is the issue of real-time occlusion. This refers to hiding 3D virtual objects behind real articles. Dr Tomohiro Fukuda, who is based at the Division of Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering at Osaka University in Japan, is an expert in this field. Researchers, led by Dr Tomohiro Fukuda, are tackling the issue of occlusion in MR. They are currently developing a MR system that realises real-time occlusion by harnessing deep learning to achieve an outdoor landscape design simulation using a semantic segmentation technique. This methodology can be used to automatically estimate the visual environment prior to and after construction projects.

The stem lenticel is a highly specialized tissue of woody plants that has evolved to balance stem water retention and gas exchange as an adaptation to local environments. In this study, we applied genome-wide association studies and selective sweeping analysis to characterize the genetic architecture and genome-wide adaptive signatures underlying stem lenticel traits among 303 unrelated accessions of P. tomentosa, which has significant phenotypic and genetic variations according to climate region across its natural distribution. In total, we detected 108 significant single-nucleotide polymorphisms, annotated to 88 candidate genes for lenticel, of which 9 causative genes showed significantly different selection signatures among climate regions. Furthermore, PtoNAC083 and PtoMYB46 showed significant association signals and abiotic stress response, so we overexpressed these two genes in Arabidopsis thaliana and found that the number of stem cells in all three overexpression lines was significantly reduced by PtoNAC083 overexpression but slightly increased by PtoMYB46 overexpression, suggesting that both genes are involved in cell division and expansion during lenticel formation. The findings of this study demonstrate the successful application of an integrated strategy for dissecting the genetic basis and landscape genetics of complex adaptive traits, which will facilitate the molecular design of tree ideotypes that may adapt to future climate and environmental changes.

By studying Aboriginal maps, this speculative research discusses world heritage concepts about land and merges them into western urban contexts. Assumptions concerning spatial allocation and demarcation such as boundaries, divisions and geometric patterns are being contested by ideas pertaining to Indigenous narratives expressing holistic views about community, and the ecosystem as integrated components of broader organisations. First, this paper introduces principles of the Indigenous culture spurring viable land management by shared, equal and inclusive schemes as ones that also respond to global socio-environmental challenges. Alternative strategies are being considered relating to the soft demarcation of distinct areas understood as malleable aggregates merging with each other and with the landscape’s topological features, with reference to the Aboriginal culture. The techniques being proposed are further compared with original approaches in architecture and urban design developed since late modernism, challenging enduring practices. Seen next to each other, these models of thought are suggestive of a paradigm shift by which architecture reinforces deeper connections with the intellectual, sociocultural, and natural resources of the greater cosmos. Furthermore, as these ideas are propelled by computing, they lead towards the dynamic linking of analysis with the design results producing all-sustainable structures that are widely applicable, as architecture’s contribution to the current socio-scientific discourse on holistic approaches with a more-than-human perspective.

Krakow is a city of high landscape values, which has found confirmation in the entry onto the UNESCO heritage list. Its cultural landscape requires protection and clarification within the context of intensive tourist use and a rapid pace of urban spatial development. For preservation protection and restoration of landscape values, the city authorities undertook work on the creation of a Cultural Park in the Stradom and Kazimierz districts, providing a comprehensive, sustainable, and multidisciplinary approach to natural, cultural and visual values of the urban structure. The article presents the application of the method of research on visual values in order to protect individual scenic resources of the historical urban structure. It is one of the analytical studies of a comprehensive protection plan project. This project defines the scope, framework and methods of development and management of a Cultural Park. The task of the visual analysis was to identify, characterize and evaluate the visual resources. It created a visual framework for further development of the historical district while preserving its local spatial identity. The studies resulted in a division into zones according to their nature and intensity of activities as well as outlining protection zones and intervention zones adjusted to individual characteristics of those places. An original method combining achievements of the method of landscape and visual assessment (LVIA) as well as achievements of the Krakow School of Landscape Architecture (KSLA) in terms of cultural landscape assessment was used for the research. The applied method provided guidelines to support sustainable project decisions regarding further development of the district for the preservation of local spatial identity. Its universal character creates possibilities for its application into the plans of other Krakow districts and is intended to be applicable to both urban and rural structures.

In the center of the city of Tyumen, there is a valley of the river, unique in its hypsometric characteristics for this natural zone, Tyumenka, which is characterized by complex social and environmental conditions. Today it is characterized by abandonment, degradation of slope natural-territorial complexes, social, historical and archaeological significance for the territorial community of people. All this significantly complicates the development of a mutually acceptable solution for all parties on the arrangement and operation of space. The territory is lands of non-delimited state property, in which scattered land use has developed over the centuries, which requires integrated state management. The authors used the geoinformation modeling method to design an ecogeological park in the Tyumenka river valley. The combination of geoinformation software, information resources of various thematic and temporal divisions (including the use of publicly available Earth remote sensing materials, multi-temporal thematic maps, specialized field surveys and surveys using an unmanned aerial vehicle), spatial development of compromise solutions for all interested parties—all these competitive advantages of geoinformation modeling have made it possible to reach and position comprehensive proposals for the general public. As a result of the study, for the first time, the territory for the initiated creation of an ecogeological park was outlined and functionally delimited. Three zones of promising functional use of the Tyumenka River valley in the format of an eco-geological park have been identified: historical-archaeological, geological and landscape-ecological. Each of the designated areas received its own territorial representation, argued by the current characteristics of the landscape, the social and environmental demands of the society, and the technological requirements for the placement of the relevant engineering facilities. The spatial placement of objects based on geoinformation modeling is presented. Heterogeneous, multitemporal data are systematized within the framework of one project, which made it possible to take into account various constraints. In the conditions of work with sites characterized by a situation of abandonment in the center of Tyumen, which is unique for Tyumen, and high social tension, the use of geoinformation modeling made it possible to obtain clear and verified spatial proposals.

Contemporary architectural proposals usually have to meet many different criteria. The most important are functionality and aesthetics, as well as rationality understood as a reference to costs. In this approach, the architectural proposal appears as a solution to the typical task considered in the Multi-criteria Decision Theory in the discipline generally referred to as Optimization. The paper presents examples of sixteenthcentury garden compositions, to try to answer the question of what the then residents (aristocrats) and the creators who fulfilled their wishes, were guided by. The homeland of the Renaissance is Italy, and the characteristics of this style were: geometry of space in the form of axial arrangement of rooms, symmetry, sheared forms of evergreen plants, and motifs referring to mythology. The basis of the Renaissance garden composition is a simple network of roads and squares, strongly connected to the main building and the remaining garden architecture. Mathematical principles, such as golden division of the segment and the Fibonacci sequence, were used as a way to bring beauty and balance to a design. This style is characterized by clipped garden ground floors with boxwood and molded vegetation. Roses, tulips, peonies and lavender were planted between shaped hedges. The terrace arrangement of some gardens has forced the creation of additional structures, such as retaining walls, ramps, balustrades and stairs. The paper discusses the subject of the golden division and its share in individual garden compositions. The authors showed many mathematical relationships that architects used when designing the described garden assumptions.

Based on the analysis of the design of environmental landscape architecture in Qiangzhai Style, it is proposed that the design of landscape architecture should be based on computer-aided design technology. Landscape architecture design integrates many disciplines, and any good building usually includes two aspects of internal and external space design. The design idea is the premise of deciding whether the Qiang landscape architecture design can be done well or not. It needs more understanding of the Qiang architecture, culture and art to do the related design well. Cultural creativity is also an important part of the strategy of Rural Revitalization and the construction of characteristic villages in Qiang nationality areas.

The article approaches ‘landscape architecture’, insisting on the term ‘architecture’ as describing landscape formations accepted as structured systems of composed, perceptual elements presenting organizational and aesthetic value. The central idea of this proposal refers to the key concept that design systems do not copy reality in its full complicated substance; they simply cannot manage to represent and work with the complex totality of the real surrounding world. They rather design abstract formational elements that ‘schematize’ reality and create composing syntactic systems, composing ‘languages’. It was in this context that modern 20th-century garden designers insisted on the comparison of landscape design approaches with architectural abstract building plans or abstract early 20th century-paintings. However, analogous correlations may also be regarded in the opposite orientation. Thus, contemporary architectural projects are often described as ‘landscape formations’ in a period of environmental sensitivity combined with enlarged topological awareness; the latter presents earth bas-relief as a convincing metaphor of topological mathematical transformations in general, associated with computational ‘animate’ design. Nevertheless, the principal aim of the article is firstly to insist on the interchangeable approaches of hard-scape architectural design and green-scape design in terms of analogous abstract and schematized formations. Moreover, the present article intends to propose a possible didactic strategy of landscape design for architects or students in schools of architecture and for attendees already accustomed to building or hard-scape urban design. This design didactic strategy is principally founded on the concept that common abstract ‘schematized’ formations underlie all those practices: landscape design as well as building and urban design.

With a rapid pace of urbanization, urban environment problems have affected large numbers of people and aroused widespread concern. Landscape architecture design helps improve the welfare of urban residents and ecological function of urban green spaces. Course-based influence of college students majoring in landscape architecture is an efficient way to prepare future landscape architects with environmental awareness. This research applied project-based learning (PBL) and zone of proximal development (ZPD) in the landscape architecture design course, and developed the investigation–design–construction PBL modules of the course. The experimental group, 57 college juniors majoring in landscape architecture, received PBL education while learning the course. At the end of the course, a questionnaire was answered by the junior students and the control group, which comprised 60 senior students who received no PBL instruction while learning the same course in the third year. The results indicate that the PBL approach was well accepted by 90% of the experimental group, who were 17.37% more likely to employ pro-environmental design methods in their future work than the control group. It was also found that employing the PBL approach in the landscape architecture design course had a positive influence upon students’ pro-environmental values, knowledge and attitudes.

With the vigorous development of computer, two-dimensional data acquisition technology and massive data dynamic visualization information technology, two-dimensional geographic information system (GIS) has gradually matured, and has been transferred from the initial visual expression to thematic application. Because 3D geographic information system has the characteristics of multidimensional data processing, classification, and presentation of information, it breaks through the confinement of monotonously displayed information on the traditional two-dimensional plane and has made breakthroughs in government assisted decision-making, national resource investigation, intelligent transportation, and other fields. E-commerce has been widely used in the field, and it is also very obvious in the field of spatial information socialization, playing an irreplaceable intergenerational effect. The visualization of landscape design is one of the key technologies to construct 3D GIS. Based on the combination of basic research and practical application, this paper deeply analyzes the openness of the garden 3D visualization system using artificial intelligence technology and completes the overall structure design of the 3D visualization system on the basis of studying the practical value and feasibility. Combined with the construction of the system, it is true to determine the acquisition method and construction method of three-dimensional landscape architecture model data, classify the landscape architecture information, and establish geometric model type libraries and texture model libraries. At the same time, the system adopts the object-oriented spatial relational database management mode to organize and manage the three-dimensional landscape building data efficiently and quickly. Determine the corresponding software and hardware configurations, carry out the interface design of the system and the division of functional modules, and establish a three-dimensional terrain visualization system for landscape architecture. In order to improve the operational efficiency of the system, the data is rationally organized and managed while taking optimization measures for the 3D model. Finally, the system adopts AI technology and uses component technology to realize the research of the intelligent terminal application system of landscape architecture.

Landscape architecture has become one of the most important parts of contemporary living environment due to its extensive value in the field of aesthetics and ecology, society and culture. However, because of the lack of effective theoretical guidance of cost control, contemporary landscape consumes a lot of resources and environmental costs during the construction and maintenance, which is against the original intention of constructing good ecological environment. Low-cost landscape architecture, with the idea of low intervention, low consumption, low conservation and low emission, is trying to research on controlling the landscape architecture construction interference to the environment and reducing landscape cost of construction and conservation from material selection and labor management to promote the long-term development of landscape architecture effectively.

Aiming at the goal of high-quality development of the landscape architecture industry, we should actively promote the development and integration of digital, networked, and intelligent technologies and promote the intelligent and diversified development of the landscape architecture industry. Due to the limitation of drawing design technology and construction method, the traditional landscape architecture construction cannot really understand the public demands, and the construction scheme also relies on the experience and subjective aesthetics of professionals, resulting in improper connection between design and construction. At present, under the guidance of the national strategy, under the background of the rapid development of digital technologies such as 5G, big data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, and digital twins, the high integration of landscape architecture construction and digital technology has led to the transformation of the production mode of landscape architecture construction. Abundant professional data and convenient information processing platform enable landscape planners, designers, and builders to evaluate the whole life cycle of the project more scientifically and objectively and realize the digitalization of the whole process of investigation, analysis, design, construction, operation, and maintenance. For the landscape architecture industry, the significance of digital technology is not only to change the production tools but also to update the environmental awareness, design response, and construction methods, which makes the landscape architecture planning and design achieve the organic combination of qualitative and quantitative and also makes the landscape architecture discipline more scientific and rational. In this paper, the new method of combining grey relational degree with machine learning is used to provide new guidance for traditional landscape planning by using big data information in landscape design and has achieved very good results. The article analyzes the guidance of landscape architecture design under the big data in China and provides valuable reference for promoting the construction of landscape architecture in China.

Landscape architecture is the connection between human and nature, which enhance human health and comfort. It contributes to water conservation and natural resource preservation since it is a part of the global ecosystem. The geographical location, which represents the climatic and terrestrial features, is one of the essential considerations of the landscape design due to its cruciality of design impacts. In this research, new landscape classification has been revealed that categorizes the landscape into two main categories: natural landscape and built landscape, and each category has been followed by subcategories which have demonstrated in this paper. One of the landscape architecture objectives is to optimize the design for human needs and comfort, thus how will the landscape design optimize in different climate conditions? There are many environmental design strategies that respond to any climate type conditions.

The profession of landscape architecture has been firmly established in Thailand and has continued to flourish for over 40 years. Throughout this time, landscape architecture has made important contributions in improving environments, the people’s quality of life, and the aesthetics of Thailand’s cities and communities. This research discusses the development of the landscape architecture profession and design concepts in Thailand from the beginning to present to understand how landscape architecture has been cultivated through the processes of adaptation and appropriation. The major contents of this research were obtained from the analysis of interviews conducted with 20 practitioners of landscape architecture firms in Thailand. The topics of discussion include multiple factors affecting the concepts, styles, and typologies of landscape architectural design. The results show that landscape architecture in Thailand has developed in parallel with global design trends since the beginning of this profession. However, contextual factors, particularly socio-economic, political, and environmental issues, also affected the variation of project types and detailed designs. These trends and factors help foster the richness of landscape architecture in Thailand.

As the natural environment becomes growingly deteriorated, environmental protection becomes a global common concern. Landscape architecture (LA) is concerned about the relationship among humans, the built, and natural environments, so it is of special significance to study corporate social responsibilities (CSR) of LA firms. This paper studied CSR of LA firms from the perspective of landscape architects, i.e., this paper explored LA design based on corporate social responsibilities. CSR of LA firms was classified into economic responsibilities and green responsibilities, so this paper studied LA design based on economic responsibilities and green responsibilities respectively. This paper contributes to the existing study of LA design by innovatively adding corporate social responsibilities into the LA design philosophies.

The current problems of higher education (bachelor's and master's degrees) in the field of landscape architecture in Russia are considered, a significant part of which arose as a result of its "globalization" of education according to the "Bologna system". Since the beginning of 2000, the general level of professional training of students has significantly decreased, the number and quality of textbooks and teaching aids have decreased, at best they have been republished. In applied engineering and agricultural specialties, the isolation of the learning process from modern practice and the lack of applied scientific research containing critical analysis and practical recommendations for improving the methodology of design, implementation and operation of landscape facilities, including those with a special status – protected areas and OKN, negatively affects. It is shown that despite the recognized successes of domestic schools in the field of landscape architecture and urban improvement of the Soviet period and the turn of the XX–XXI centuries, their scientific and practical results from the standpoint of improving the methodology and methodology of design, implementation technologies and subsequent operation did not receive sufficient scientific analysis and generalization, although by that time there was a need the regulatory and methodological framework and large-scale work were carried out to give the status and special modes of use to landscape objects of various types. Unique research and design teams and interdisciplinary schools of landscape design existed in the Central Research Institute of Urban Planning, the Moscow General Plan Institute, Mosproject-2, Mosproject-4, MLTI, Lenproject and in other institutes and cities, including the "near abroad". Even today, when urban landscaping and landscaping has become an essential part of the social and urban planning policy of the state and municipalities to improve the comfort of the environment, the methodology and methodology of teaching students in the specialty landscape architecture and its development using interdisciplinary knowledge and the possibilities of using modern geoinformation systems of digitalization is not given the necessary attention. There is absolutely insufficient research devoted to spatial, urban planning, natural, landscape, climatic and other features of territories, regional specifics of assortment, peculiarities of legislation and regulatory framework of design, training of students in universities remains insufficiently systematic, poorly coordinated with legislation, regulatory framework and real practice design. The article substantiates the need to create relevant comprehensive programs for interdisciplinary training of specialists (bachelors, masters) using knowledge of fundamental and applied disciplines of landscape science, geomorphology, climatology, biology, soil science, crop production, landscape architecture, landscaping, landscaping, forestry, environmental management, protection of natural and cultural heritage, environment, a number of agricultural sciences and at the same time practice-oriented, "project-based learning" and "digitalization".

A major concern in the field of landscape architecture is sustainable development. The goal of this strategy is to provide design solutions that satisfy current demands without jeopardizing the capacity of future generations to satisfy their own. The viewpoint of energy and environmental management is crucial for achieving sustainable development in landscape architecture. Energy management is essential to landscape architecture because it involves resource efficiency, reducing energy usage, and integrating renewable energy sources. It includes incorporating strategies like passive solar design, proper material selection, and the use of green infrastructure systems. These practices not only promote eco-friendly designs but also reduce the cost of maintenance and operation in the long term. Environmental management focuses on preserving and enhancing the natural environment through sustainable land use practices.

With the in-depth study of architectural planning in China, more and more designers and developers are aware of the superiority of the use of technological robots to improve the speed and quality of construction, weakening past experience and based on real-world research through modern technology. However, the application of this method in the predesign work is not mature. To be specific, designers may lack expertise due to the overly detailed division of labor. In addition, the developer’s blind pursuit of profitability leads to inaccurate market positioning and forecasting. At the same time, the lack of effective communication between designers and developers, architects and owners makes the predesign work ineffective and does not provide reasonable and accurate guidance for the building design. Therefore, the predesign work requires the designer to analyze and select the site reasonably. In addition, it is necessary to conduct in-depth research on the target customers. At the same time, it is necessary to accurately position and predict the dynamic market, and then to have a thorough understanding of the norms and regulations. As a result, the predesign work enables the design to be analyzed in the context of the actual situation. Then, according to the data and information from various aspects, effective planning and argumentation are carried out, and corresponding decisions are made to provide guidance for the design. Overall, predesign is a process of rational planning of the design process. In fact, in the process of landscape design innovation, it is necessary to fully consider the requirements of the intelligent era. Therefore, multimedia and advanced robotics can continuously enhance the interaction and experience of urban landscape to make it integrate into the intelligent system of the future city. In other words, multimedia technology can enhance the new image of the city in an intelligent, digital, and humanized interactive experience. Especially in the landscape design process, the advent of computers has enabled landscape designers to use relevant design software to design their own works, thus giving them unlimited design possibilities. Virtual reality technology, as a form of computer technology, provides designers with a new creative experience in the design phase of a landscape project. To be specific, this technology allows designers to freely grasp the design space and scientifically compare the differences between design options to make the design more reasonable and complete. Therefore, this paper analyzes the differences in the general environment and concepts of 3D software virtual reality technology, starting from the characteristics of the application of 3D technology as an entry point. At the same time, this study uses the similarities and differences in technology to discover the vital role of using virtual reality technology to reconstruct the space and the impact of robots on modern architecture.

Although there is a consensus that landscape planning and design can play a positive role in flood mitigation, few specific reviews have explored how the strategies of landscape architecture could play a more effective and beneficial role in flood control. Focusing on the related knowledge about hydraulics, ecology, and practices of flood control, the paper explores the application of resilience theory on providing an improved theoretical framework for landscape planning and design for floods, especially for floods in delta plains, and highlights characteristics of different scales of flood control to landscape architecture. Three main types of technical means are discussed: water channel morphology and processes adjustment; riparian corridor and riparian buffer; and flood-specific landscape structural measures.

With the dawn of the knowledge economy, China's university campus construction has reached its pinnacle. However, there are numerous issues with the related construction process, such as scale imbalances, architectural style convergence, loss of environmental characteristics, and a lack of spirit of place on many university campuses, all of which eventually lead to incompatibility between campus architecture and landscape environment, dilution of campus cultural atmosphere, and lack of sustenance for university humanistic spirit. The quality of the campus landscape has become a key criterion for judging the campus environment, as it has a significant impact on the overall environment, image, and quality of the campus. To improve the quality of the campus landscape environment, landscape design must be considered as part of architectural planning and design, and campus architecture and landscape must be integrated. Campus landscape engineering construction has a full life cycle, and construction safety has an impact on the overall situation. To ensure construction safety throughout the life cycle, a solid mathematical model of construction safety management should be established. This paper proposes using Building Information Modeling (BIM) to conduct research on landscape security, starting with the development of university campus landscapes and using mobile edge computing technology.

Knowing and understanding plants are essential factors for a successful landscape architecture project. Great landscape architects from the 20th and 21st centuries - such as Burle Marx, Fernando Chacel, Rosa Kliass, Caldeira Cabral, and Piet Oudolf - perceive vegetation as a link between nature and the city, in which the valuation and the respect for the landscape are the central points. Unfortunately, little focus has been given to the appropriate employment of plants in landscape architecture projects at architecture and urbanism schools, resulting in generic planting schemes. Should these schemes be called landscape architecture projects? Oppositely, Applied Botany to Landscape Architecture has as one of its objectives providing knowledge for the conception of plant palettes, which should consider not only aesthetic criteria but also biological and environmental ones from each species to establish a harmonious relationship with the existing environment. Thus, this article intends to present the experience and the results achieved in the discipline AQ553 - Special Topics in Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape Architecture Theory III (Applied Botany to Landscape Architecture). For this discipline, it was adopted descriptive and bibliographical research as a methodology, which has made possible the understanding of aesthetical and environmental matters related to the plant element and how these attributes can be reflected in a landscape architecture project. By leading students to consider the architectural and biological aspects of the vegetation components in their proposals, the procedure adopted in this discipline had great outcomes; for instance, improvements in the areas of environmental perception, graphic representation and design of landscaping projects.

Noise is the number two environmental health risk in Europe. With the majority of the world’s inhabitants residing in ever-growing cities, urban noise impacts an increasing number of people. Urban airports significantly contribute to urban noise, and their spatial effects far exceed their boundaries. While indoor acoustic mitigation in architecture is growingly addressed using parametric tools, there is limited research on mitigating noise with digital means through landscape and urban design. Moreover, there is a lack of methods for ameliorating urban noise through ground-forming. To address this, this paper contributes a novel method for integrating acoustic analysis in parametric landscape-forming. The method includes collecting on-line and on-site noise data, developing alternative landscape formations for mitigating noise, and evaluating design alternatives within a single digital design environment. This method was applied using research by design and examined on a case-study site adjacent to the Munich Airport. Three landform landscape designs for a park are developed, and their acoustic performance is compared. The results indicate the possibility of integrating acoustic considerations in landscape architecture, and the method provides a step-by-step guide for doing so. This capacity also promotes the long-term goal of increasing the environmental performance of urban grounds.

This paper investigates ways of deploying ecological principles in the planning and design practice of landscape architecture. As a modern profession, one of the central tasks of landscape architecture is of protecting and recovering our environment. The profession is now in the demand in China, because of China’s rapid urban development and the consequent environmental problems. A case study of the planning and design of the Li Lake area provides evidence of how the profession is carrying out such a task. The study also identifies the disconnection between ecological and cultural strategies for recovering a particular landscape.

Throughout our lives, as we communicate, we constantly learn new and different concepts. We then try to mentally concretize these concepts. If this process is carried out by drawing similarities with the knowledge we already possess, it progresses smoothly. However, if we attempt to associate them with concepts we are unfamiliar with, this process can be challenging and exhausting. This research was conducted to reveal the perceptions of undergraduate university students regarding the concept of "Landscape Architecture" through the use of metaphors. A total of 213 students from 14 different undergraduate departments participated in the study. The aim of the research is to uncover the perceptions of undergraduate university students regarding the profession of "Landscape Architecture" through metaphors. In this study, the phenomenological design, a qualitative research method, was used. Through a form containing questions for undergraduate students, they were asked to complete statements like "Landscape Architecture means ............ to me. Because .........." The content analysis technique was employed for analyzing the collected data. As a result of the research, participating university students generated 75 metaphors for the profession of "Landscape Architecture." These metaphors were grouped considering common attributes, yielding 9 main metaphors. The predominant perception of landscape architecture among university students from different departments emphasized themes of nature and design.
