Purpose The purpose of this paper is to report a study of bullying on online labour markets (OLMs), highlighting how abuse unfolds in digital workplaces and depicting the trajectory of target resilience. Design/methodology/approach Adopting van Manen’s hermeneutic phenomenology, targets’ lived experiences of bullying on OLMs was explored. Data gathered from Indian freelancers located on Upwork via conversational telephonic interviews were subjected to sententious and selective thematic analyses. Findings The core theme of “pursuing long-term and holistic well-being” showed how targets tapped into yet augmented their resilience while navigating the features of OLMs as they coped with their experiences of bullying. The interface between targets’ internal and external resources, including platform support, vis-à-vis the concreteness and permanence of the site as targets asserted agency, sought control and realized positive outcomes while preserving their reputation, relationality, success and continuity was captured. It may be noted that bullying in digital workplaces is exclusively virtual in form. Research limitations/implications Alongside theoretical generalizability, statistical generalizability of the findings should be established. Practical implications Recommendations for action for platforms and targets are forwarded. In particular, the critical role of formal workplace support in influencing employee resilience is emphasized. Originality/value The paper makes several pioneering contributions. First, it reports the first empirical inquiry examining bullying in digital workplaces. Moreover, OLM research on abuse and harassment has not been undertaken so far. Second, it furthers theorization of resilience, especially with regard to workplace antecedents. Apart from identifying the new organizational antecedent of formal workplace support, it uncovers the complexities of resilience. Third, it extends knowledge on workplace cyberbullying, positive outcomes of workplace bullying and OLMs in India.

The use of digital technology has become a key part of contemporary debates on how work is changing, the future of work/ers, resistance, and organising. Workerism took up many of these questions in the context of the factory – particularly through the Italian Operaismo – connecting the experience of the workplace with a broader struggle against capitalism. However, there are many differences between those factories and the new digital workplaces in which many workers find themselves today. The methods of workers’ inquiry and the theories of class composition are a useful legacy from Operaismo, providing tools and a framework to make sense of and intervene within workers’ struggles today. However, these require sharpening and updating in a digital context. In this article, we discuss the challenges and opportunities for a “digital workerism”, understood as both a research and organising method. We use the case study of Uber to discuss how technology can be used against workers, as well as repurposed by them in various ways. By developing an analysis of the technical, social, and political re-composition taking place on the platform, we move beyond determinist readings of technology, to place different technologies within the social relations that are emerging. In particular, we draw attention to the new forms through which workers’ struggles can be circulated. Through this, we argue for a “digital workerism” that develops a critical understanding of how the workplace can become a key site for the struggles of digital/communicative socialism.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in employees being exposed to transformational stressors from within and outside the organization. This has created an opportunity for employee mental health solutions. Indeed, there has been a rapid growth in start-ups offering clinical mental health services via a digital health platform. These platforms servicing enterprise employee mental health needs have not been evaluated with respect to their ability to enhance management communication. Hence, the aims of the present study are to explore communication and service attributes across a sample of five operational leading commercial start-up platforms for mental service delivery to employees. We have observed that all platform models focused on providing on-demand mental health consultation services. Existing platforms fail to adequately support management communication for mental health solutions across 80% of platforms reviewed. We recommend that industry start-ups should understand the need for management engagement with digital mental health platforms. Digital mental health platform solutions in the workplace are ideally supported by valuing leadership communication. A culture around mental health will create sustainability in digital mental health solutions for an organization.

This study builds on the emergence of new gifting practices using e-hongbaos which are monetary gifts transferred between individuals made possible by digital communication platforms. This is an exploratory study on the impact of these innovations on intra-organizational relationships. Three types of intra-organizational relationships are considered: the employee's relationship with the organization, with the team, and with the manager. The findings of the study indicate positive impacts of e-hongbao at all organizational levels. The authors also identify the varying effects of e-hongbao on intra-organizational relationship outcomes depending on the occasion of gifting, as well as the mode, direction, and measure. Specifically, ‘group' e-hongbao, a gamified group-gift enabled by the digitalization of gifting, has the strongest influence on intra-organizational relationships. The authors discuss the implications of these findings for theory and practice in the workplace and also offer future research directions.

There have been a significant number of publications about digital workplace transformation. This is due to technological developments in the last decades as well as the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there is no adequate overall definition of the term. This leads to misunderstandings and confused interpretation of the digital workplace, sometimes even narrowing it down to a set of tools or a platform. Given the complexity of digital workplace transformation, there is a need to have an integrated prospective and analyze it not just from a technological perspective, but from an organizational and processes point of view as well. Therefore, this paper is an attempt to review the concept and offer a comprehensive definition of the digital workplace. This includes all the important aspects of the transformation including tools and platforms as well as personal issues, organization, processes and management. The paper provides a systematic literature review of the publications in leading bibliographic and citation bases, starting from Web of Science and Scopus to SpringerLink, IEEE Xplore and Association for Information Systems eLibrary. The review includes not only journal papers, but also leading proceedings, books and other referent publications. It addresses the authors' approaches, perspectives, terminologies, focusses and understanding of workplace transformation over the last decade by a comprehensive review of the state of art of the literature in the field of digital workplace. Finally, a set of recommendations are made to further research in increasingly important subject of digital workplace transformation.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to offer HR leaders ideas and solutions for connecting their increasingly divided workforces through technology and automation. Design/methodology/approach The paper examines major changes occurring in the workplace and how a digital workplace can solve those challenges, divided into several points. Findings The dynamics of work are changing, but the way we connect our workers has not kept pace. As a result, various factors of the changing workplace, from widening generational employee gaps to lower retention rates, present serious challenges to employee productivity and engagement. The digital workplace is the antidote. It improves productivity by unifying employees’ favorite tools in a single, user-friendly space. Digital workplace platforms have emerged as a mission-critical tool to band people, technologies, processes and information together. And when everyone’s in it together, everyone. Originality/value HR leaders are flooded with technology solutions. This paper offers insight into the benefits of a digital workplace so they can make an informed decision.

Working on digital platforms is a new form of work that, in Portugal, has not yet defined a regulated model of labour relations. This article analyses the worker profiles of various digital work platforms and their collective representation in Portugal. The diversity found in the case studies of worker profiles from each platform explains, in part, the lack of interest of labour movements in representing them. The type of tasks and the workplace contributes to the lack of interest in the search for collective representatives and demonstrates the (mis)alignments that occurred between workers and possible representatives. There is also potential for other alignments between the interests of different workers, trade union movements and associations of alternative representation

This essay presents the main trends of changes in the labor market in connection with the digitalization of the world economy. The interrelated problems of increasing labor productivity, reducing workplaces, and ensuring effective demand are considered. The authors propose considering digitalization as a way of promoting creativity in workplaces, albeit having a delayed effect due to the lag in time for the establishment of a world new economic order, during which services are becoming the main product, and digital platforms and ecosystems are the main actors in the global economy. “Creativization” is a new term suggested by the authors, which means a workplace that is being transformed by digitalization, whereby monotonous work processes are replaced by intellectually intensive operations, art elements, and unique high-performance activities.

In today’s knowledge based economy information is a company’s most valuable resource. The technology industry in particular demands vast amounts of knowledge for innovation and development. Software development requires constantcommunication, exchange and collaboration. Although there is a variety of business collaboration and communication tools on the market, from a rather basic social intranet to a full-fledged digital workplace, most organization cannot manage to harvest their full potential and benefits for their business’s performance. By means of a case study carried out at an internationally operating Swedish game development studio this report aims to investigate what technological andcultural factors influence the result of an organization’s communication ecosystem. Based on the findings the goal is to better understand how to implement collaborative tools that add value to employees’ work with a focus on knowledge sharing. A literature study to identify common factors that are intertwined with the success of an organization’s collaboration tools ecosystem was performed. Thereafter a number of selected employees were involved in qualitative research in the form of interviews, focus groups and contextual inquiries at their workplace. The literature revealed 10 recurring factors that are inseparable from the success or failure of an internal communication ecosystem. The main findings include that a well functioning digital workplace initiative by all means can improve overall performance, not only increasing work efficiency but also by positively influencing employees’ relationships. Digital workplace tools have become an essential part of modern business operations and will most likely become even more important in the near future. Businesses must learn much about themselves, their employees and how to make knowledge accessible without hindrances if they want to stay competitive in the world of tomorrow.

This thesis provides contemporary insights how knowledge management can be approached by a knowledge-intensive organisation. Knowledge workers today have unprecedented means to collaborate in different spaces of knowledge sharing. By analysing the case of QlikTech, results indicate that knowledge management is an integral part of knowledge-intensive organisations.By adapting an interpretive approach, eight semi-structured qualitative interviews with employees at QlikTech are analysed to find out how different information systems support different knowledge and collaboration processes. The interviews are complemented by on-the-job observations and analysis of documents to reach deeper understanding. Results indicate that users use systems with predefined structures to document official knowledge, and systems with emergent structures for informal dialogue and collaboration. Different systems complement each other, as knowledge is transferred between systems. Grass root initiated information systems compensate for the gap between official technology implementations and the social communication needs.Technology and practice co-evolve. As discussions, ideas, perspectives and context can be sustained in emergent social software platforms, such as Salesforce.com, complex problem-solving can be enabled in computer-supported cooperative work. These platforms minimise the gap between the formal and social communication within communities of practice, which facilitates organisational learning. At QlikTech, digital communities emerge organically over time. Organisations can use data and text mining, natural language processing and information extraction technologies to bridge fragmented communities to gain the capabilities to access dispersed knowledge sources through search. Organisations can add a social layer of these fragmented back-end systems, designed for building cross-functional employee-facing communities that drive collaboration and accelerate innovation in the workplace.

In recent years, we see a shift from traditional physical workplaces to hybrid and remote environments, leading to the adoption of digital workplaces (Malhotra, 2021). Despite their instrumental value such as increased employee productivity, digital workplaces present challenges including employee disconnection and disengagement (Qin & Men, 2022). To address this, organizations attempt to strengthen organizational identification and engagement using people-centric digital workplace platforms. Given the critical role of identity in fostering engagement and performance, in this thesis we examine the phenomenon of IT identity, which refers to positive self-identification with information technology (ITID) (Carter, 2020).Our study examines how employees' use of a digital workplace platform called Employee Advocacy (EA) platform- which enables employees to defend, support, or recommend their organization to their networks- is influenced by the their ITID perceptions. EA fosters re-identification with the organization and is increasingly recognized for its ability to leverage employees' credibility to enhance brand reputation, extend reach, and drive business growth (Silbermann, 2021). While the literature on EA covers its definition and purpose, few studies—especially within Information Systems (IS)—have examined how ITID might impact platform use that facilitate EA programs. This thesis addresses that gap by theorizing the antecedents and outcomes of ITID for the EA platform use context. We do this via two essays. The first essay examines the existence of ITID within EA platforms and leverages ITID theory and IS continuous use and acceptance literature to theorize the two user experience antecedents (functional and emotional) of ITID. The second essay also leverages ITID theory and needs-affordances features perspective to theorize how ITID influences key outcomes of EA platforms- conceptualizing digital employee engagement (DEE), which includes digital employee advocacy (DEA) and digital employee connectedness (DEC). Both essays use a sequential mixed-method approach, starting with a quantitative study followed by a qualitative study. The first study within both essays uses employee reviews of EA platforms as its data (N=1360) to test the theoretical models, while the second study within both essays uses semi-structured interview data obtained from experts of EA platform (N=12) to provide validation and identify boundary conditions to our theorized models. The findings confirm our theorized model in essay one, however, it is moderated by factors such as role identity, social media self-efficacy, and structured platform launch. The results of the second essay also confirm our model. However, we propose that these relationships are moderated by boundary conditions such as change management reinforcement, proactive leaders, organization image. In particular, the essays advance our understanding of IT identity when using digital workplace technologies and its relevance in achieving both humanistic outcomes of digital employee connectedness and instrumental goals of digital employee advocacy. The findings also offer several practical insights for organizations seeking to implement and optimize EA platforms to enhance digital employee engagement through the introduction of the digital workplace

In recent years, the number of digital services and tools available has increased rapidly. When companies want to digitalize their business, they have the opportunity to browse a large number of existing platforms and applications available on the market to find a good match for their specific needs. However, when a company wishes to digitalize a work task that already has a well-established workflow, problems may arise. Due to this, a tailored digital solution may in some cases be the better suited option, rather than the ones available on the market.  The intention of this work was to investigate the challenges that companies face in relation to digitalization of the workplace in general, and the challenges of a company’s expense management process in particular. As an example of how a workplace digitalization can take place, a collaboration with a forest industry company was conducted. An evaluation of their analog and internal expense management process was done, where the found challenges were assessed with respect to chosen quality factors. The evaluation and the found challenges regarding digitalization constituted the basis for a process mapping and a digital solution aiming to improve the company’s expense management process. The resulting work emphasizes how a digital solution can be tailored with simple means within a limited time frame, taking specific needs and existing challenges into account in order to digitalize the workplace. In addition, the work presents what challenges that exists within the concept of digitalizing the workplace and regarding expense management, and how quality factors can be used in combination with a process improvement in order to relieve and eliminate them.

The world of work has been impacted by technology. Work is different than it was in the past due to digital innovation. Labor market opportunities are becoming polarized between high-end and low-end skilled jobs. Migration and its effects on employment have become a sensitive political issue. From Buffalo to Beijing public debates are raging about the future of work. Developments like artificial intelligence and machine intelligence are contributing to productivity, efficiency, safety, and convenience but are also having an impact on jobs, skills, wages, and the nature of work. The “undiscovered country” of the workplace today is the combination of the changing landscape of work itself and the availability of ill-fitting tools, platforms, and knowledge to train for the requirements, skills, and structure of this new age.

Two management and technology experts show that AI is not a job destroyer, exploring worker-AI collaboration in real-world work settings. This book breaks through both the hype and the doom-and-gloom surrounding automation and the deployment of artificial intelligence-enabled—“smart”—systems at work. Management and technology experts Thomas Davenport and Steven Miller show that, contrary to widespread predictions, prescriptions, and denunciations, AI is not primarily a job destroyer. Rather, AI changes the way we work—by taking over some tasks but not entire jobs, freeing people to do other, more important and more challenging work. By offering detailed, real-world case studies of AI-augmented jobs in settings that range from finance to the factory floor, Davenport and Miller also show that AI in the workplace is not the stuff of futuristic speculation. It is happening now to many companies and workers. These cases include a digital system for life insurance underwriting that analyzes applications and third-party data in real time, allowing human underwriters to focus on more complex cases; an intelligent telemedicine platform with a chat-based interface; a machine learning-system that identifies impending train maintenance issues by analyzing diesel fuel samples; and Flippy, a robotic assistant for fast food preparation. For each one, Davenport and Miller describe in detail the work context for the system, interviewing job incumbents, managers, and technology vendors. Short “insight” chapters draw out common themes and consider the implications of human collaboration with smart systems.

AbstractSubcontracting, the subletting of work tasks creating a hierarchy of contractual relationships (especially multi-tiered subcontracting), is a centuries-old form of work organisation but has grown substantially since the mid-1970s, including Uber-type arrangements facilitated by digital surveillance and platforms and global supply chains (Nossar in The regulation and management of workplace health and safety: historical and emerging trends, 100–122, 2020). Evidence that subcontracting arrangements can exacerbate health and safety risks (including injury rates, exposures to harmful substances and worker mental wellbeing) is also not new, being extensively documented by government reports and research from the late nineteenth century (see for example Gregson and Quinlan in Labor Hist. 62:534–550, 2020; Quinlan in Int. J. Health Serv. 43:721–744, 2013; Quinlan et al. in Saf. Sci. 57:283–292, 2013)). This paper focuses on the connection between subcontracting and workplace disasters, how to understand their causation and what remedial measures can be taken to minimise such incidents. To do this, it draws on the Pressure, Disorganisation and Regulatory Failure (PDR) model (Bohle et al. in Work Stress 29:114–127, 2015) and the Ten Pathways framework for analysing death and disaster (Quinlan in Ten pathways to death and disaster: learning from fatal incidents in mines and other high hazard workplaces, Federation Press, Sydney, 2014).

Nowadays, despite the growing attention to indoor environmental quality and comfort, existing workplaces still often fail to meet employees’ expectations and needs, affecting their well-being and productivity. In order to improve management decisions, crucial insights can be provided by the timely correlation of objective workplace conditions, observed by sensors, and subjective workers’ feedback, collected through Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) method. This paper presents a prototypical Digital Twin for the assessment of workplace performance from an occupant-centric perspective, based on the integration of IoT, BIM and Semantic Web technologies. Following the definition of relevant use cases and requirements a layered system architecture is presented and the prototype implementation is discussed. For capturing the workplace’s environmental properties, a sensor network based on the Zigbee communication standard is proposed due to its data transmission efficiency. The measured data, converted in the lightweight MQTT protocol, are streamed to an InfluxDB time series database where they are stored along with the incoming workers’ feedback collected as survey responses with a dedicated web application. These time series data are queried and transported into a developed web platform for integrating BIM and RDF data within the standardized structure of Information Containers for linked Document Delivery (ICDDs). Inside this platform, the IFC model of the workplace, the measured data from the sensors, and the worker generated RDF data according to the WOMO ontology for occupant-centric workplace management are linked. AbstractThe Agile development methodology is soaring in popularity in the business world. Companies are turning to Agile to develop products quickly and to achieve digital transformation of their organization. Because of this push, companies need employees who understand Agile. Therefore, higher education is obligated to provide an understanding of Agile to students as they enter the workplace. Providing Agile experience to students who are new to programming is difficult because they are so worried about the coding aspects of the assignment, they cannot take time to think about the methodology they are using. The coding crowds out the time needed to get an understanding of how Agile actually works. One remedy for this is to use a low or no-code development platform. With this type of platform students spend less time learning to create apps, freeing them to experience the rituals and roles of Agile. This study examines using the Agile methodology along with the Microsoft Power Apps platform to provide an Agile experience to students. Two course sections were surveyed to learn if students perceived that they acquired a better understanding of Agile and to learn their perceptions of a no-code platform experience. The students completed surveys to ascertain their comfort with the Agile methodology and whether the no-code environment increased their comfort level. The results showed students perceived the no-code platform increased their comfort with using the Agile methodology. The implication is that no-code platforms can be used broadly to help students to gain experience with Agile.

The essay analyses the changes in labour law by examining working places’ modifications induced by the most meaningful driver: technology. In this perspective, the authors point out three macro scenarios. The first relates to industry 4.0 and to the notion of “cognitive enterprise”. This could, or should, act as a magnet model considering its social and organizational positive consequences. The second is the traditional work organization re-considered in the light of new technologies’ impact; it generates a kind of neo digital Fordism, as does the Amazon model in the logistic sector. The third scenario is linked to the rise of the gig economic, with its “workers on tap” (i.e. the platform economy with the algorithm as a boss). These different scenarios, even if characterised by blurred borders, imply the need to think of Labour law differently than in the past. Beyond its traditional protective function, there should be a promotional one, aimed at developing capabilities and positive liberties of the person in the workplace. In the face of this three-fold dimension of the workplaces and of the expansion of Labour law functions, it is also necessary to rethink its techniques and principles. In that sense, the authors propose a different regulatory perspective: no more rigid and uniform rules, as happened in the “short century”, but a regulation made by differentiation, adaptations, extensions, dilutions. With a unifying value: the reference to the individual, to her/his life project, and ultimately to her/his dignity.

Ergonomics and Human Factors are both defined as a scientific discipline concerned with understanding the interactions between workers and other elements of a system. The implementation of ergonomics in industrial engineering, where workers are an integral part of the system, is very important in the development phase of the product/production and also in the planning of production technologies. The interaction between man and machine can be very intense in mass production, especially in assembly lines, and is therefore the focus of process optimization. In addition, appropriate workplace design has long-term effects on the worker. It is well known that it can prevent musculoskeletal complaints, increase productivity and reduce production costs. As part of the current trend of Industry 4.0 (I4.0), the traditional approach to workplace design is becoming intertwined with "smart" paradigms such as sensors, computing platforms, communication technology, control, simulation, data-intensive modelling, and predictive engineering. It is therefore important for companies to understand the great potential of the I4.0 concept and leverage its benefits in terms of moving from machine-dominated manufacturing to digital manufacturing. These technologies offer us the possibility to reproduce the work environment in a virtual scenario where it is possible to simulate manual tasks, evaluate ergonomic indices and perform time analysis at the same time. The idea of using ergonomic simulation software is not new. Several attempts have been made in Europe in the past. Starting with DELTA's ERGOMAS, ERGOMan systems, Siemens Jack and more recently Process simulate, both possibly supported by Xsens suit. With the I4.0 paradigm in mind, we examined the featured computing platforms developed from 1994 to the present to track the progress and changes made. For simulations, the most progress was made with the development of the Task Simulation Builder interface and later an important step was made with the development of sensor technology for motion capture. For example, for assembly lines, an integrated approach for setting working times was developed using the classical MTM approach and EAWS methods. With these technologies and accumulated knowledge, the design process changed rapidly and several published papers show the benefits of computer-aided approaches also for timing analysis. Based on the presented facts, the question arose: can computer-aided approaches integrated with ergonomics replace the existing standardised approaches for time determination? In our research, a case study of workplace design was conducted using two of the latest platforms, Siemens Jack and Process Simulate in conjunction with Xsens suit. A collaborative human-robot workplace was designed as a digital twin and tested in our lab with 6 subjects considering their anthropometric measurements. The human movements were converted into computer software and evaluated using OWAS analysis for ergonomics and MTM method for timing. The results of the research carried out will help us to evaluate a similar approach carried out with two different computer platforms and to answer the question of the usefulness and reliability of the presented platforms also for time analysis.

Typically, disruptive technology has dominated all aspects of our lives; economy, communication, workplace environment and governance. However, the Covid-19 pandemic escalated disruptive technology to new heights, affecting areas that were previously limited to its adverse impact. Particularly, Covid-19 restrictions caused closure of schools and institutions in over 190 countries. As a result, a significant number of education institutions have adopted technology-enabled learning in in-person teaching, blended online and online learning. // Despite developing countries adopting technology-enabled learning, there are still some glaring gaps hindering equal access to education. Mainly, there is a significant digital gender divide, with girls facing the risk of losing out in benefiting from technology-enabled learning due to difficulties in using digital technology. Secondary school learners in Kenya lack regular access to digital technology which affects their ability to familiarize themselves with digital devices, platforms and services that propel technology-enabled learning. // This proposal suggests the adoption of mobile-based learning and with content that promotes cognitive engagement to bridge the digital divide in Kenya. Particularly, the proposal identifies the utilization of the Split Attention Principle that requires presentation of information in more than one form to suit the needs of the learners.

The development of soft skills, including teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence, has become essential in the modern workplace. Despite this growing need, conventional teaching methods in higher education often fail to prioritize these competencies, favoring traditional lecture-based approaches. This paper addresses the gap by presenting a digital project management platform designed to enhance soft skills among university students through practical, team-based learning.Following a user-centered design process, the platform was developed using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model, which structured its creation and evaluation. Semi-structured interviews with faculty and students informed the design of user personas, which were key in aligning the platform's functionality with users’ needs. Central to the platform is a Kanban board that facilitates project management and encourages students to apply soft skills in realistic scenarios, such as organizing tasks, collaborating with peers, and communicating effectively. Additional features support group interaction and provide educators with tools to guide and assess students’ progress.Digital teaching offers distinct benefits for skill development, including greater accessibility and flexibility for learners. By allowing self-paced learning and access from any location, the platform supports personalized experiences tailored to individual preferences. Furthermore, its interactive elements, such as gamified components and simulations, promote active learning and provide students with a safe space to practice and refine their soft skills. The digital format also allows for scalability, enabling widespread adoption and cost-effective implementation across diverse educational contexts. The platform’s usability and impact will be assessed through an eye-tracking study to observe user interaction patterns. This study will help optimize design elements and ensure the platform effectively supports learning objectives. Technically, the platform consists of a client-side application built with React and D3.js for visualizations, and a server-side component that uses Node.js and MongoDB for data management. This architecture supports a seamless and user-friendly experience, enabling students to engage meaningfully with the content. In conclusion, this paper proposes a practical strategy for integrating soft skills training into university education through digital means. By leveraging a user-centered design and modern digital tools, the platform offers a dynamic, engaging learning environment that meets the demands of both academia and the workforce. This approach not only enhances students' readiness for future employment in a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world but also encourages the development of essential life skills, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical, real-world application.

Social--media is a relatively new term for Romania. In the early 2000s, the idea of Internet and virtual communication was starting to take shape. The digital phenomenon that began to grow starting with the mid 2000, is currently continuing, moreover it is in full development. The digital revolution with all its derivatives, starting from new techniques of using the computer to online platforms that transform the virtual communication into a process easy for any citizen in the world, and ending with the cellular networks, is implementing more software compatible with modern systems, taking over our world. Patrice Flichy describes the Internet as being "the most important invention of the XXth" century. Its origins are found in 1969, at the US Department of Defense, in the ARPANET network (Advanced Research Project Network). So, the internet was the first name of a technological revolution that can be summarised as the digitalisation idea. [1]. Without a doubt the Internet is the main junction at the end of the XXth century and the beginning of the XXIst century, and its expansion in the coming years shall be staggering. Socialization is the fundamental process of transmitting culture and social organization to new generations through different ways - learning their mother tongue, learning to write, learning social norms and values, common traditions and beliefs takeover. In this way, all members of society accept the same fundamental values, using the same rules in interpersonal and social relations. Therefore, socialization is the act of preparing the individual for participation in group life and to common social life. People are being trained to become members of community groups - family, school, workplace, group of friends, etc., and also to know and understand other groups they will never be members of, but will be obligated to communicate with - banks, hospitals, police stations, companies etc. Socialization occurs necessarily within social interaction, the direct relationships between people. If the interhuman relation deprivation is prolonged and extensive, the evolution of an individual might be slowed forever. Therefore, according to the above explained, socialization exclusively represent the communication and direct interaction of individuals wioth other individuals, thus taking on habits, norms, values.

The COVID19 pandemic is an unprecedented event that has sent shockwaves into almost all areas of our lives. Education is one of the most vulnerable sectors. Overnight, crude adjustments of curricula, teaching methods and tools had to be made. Digital learning became a reality. Higher education in Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) field is highly affected because of the tight connection to the industry. Site visits, practical trainings in companies and face-to-face interviews with OSH professionals present a valuable part of the study programmes dedicated to safety. University teachers face challenges coming with digital era in OSH education and training. The OSHDIGIT project aimed to support the teachers in delivering effective digital education and training in OSH. The systematic framework of the project was derived from the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu). The main project objectives were to enhance digital pedagogic competencies of university teachers in OSH discipline by giving them practical guidance and training and to equip them with OSH e-resources and tools for the use in digital learning.Three main outputs have been achieved. First are e-guidelines for teachers: to navigate them in various digital tools (E-tools guide on Padlet platform), to implement blended project-based learning (Blended PBL guide) and to protect their health and well-being within the process of digital education (Wellbeing guide). The second outcome presents an e-platform for sharing existing OSH e-resources (e.g. online lectures, videos, games and quizzes) for university-level teaching and training of future OSH professionals and specialists. The last but not least output are tailor-made e-tools such as workplace simulations, site visits and commented risk assessments from real workplaces, videos from occupational hygiene measurements, interviews with OSH professionals and interactive presentations on current OSH topics. All the outputs are freely available via Erasmus+ platform. The project activities were accompanied by roundtable discussions, focus groups and training workshops. The project fostered knowledge transfer and sharing of good practices and innovative approaches in OSH digital learning among universities, insurance companies, enterprises and professional networks. OSHDIGIT approach contributed to EU initiatives addressing enhancement of the quality in higher education in the area of occupational health and safety.

Abstract Over the last five years, the oil market has experienced its most significant downturn since 1990s which resulted in the greatest immediate impact on the exploration and development drilling segment of the industry. With the objective to counter the influence of this potentially long period of downturn in global oil price, oil & gas operators have opted for different approaches to secure their future recovery and growth. The digital transformation across their drilling and completion activities could be a solution which helps to improve the drilling efficiency, shorten the well time, and cut down the well cost to the tolerable investment. In addition to that, the need of switching to a digital environment has recently became an urgent requirement, especially when everywhere in the world applies the social distancing and work from home concept during Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, establishing a digital workplace has set an approach in a way drilling and completion teams handling internal and external communications, collaborations and content management to support drilling and completion activities. In order to understand more in depth, this paper, as a part of the digital transformation project carried out by Phu Quoc Petroleum Operating Company (PQPOC), the Operator of Block B Gas Development Project (Blocks B&48/95 and 52/97) located offshore of the South West of Vietnam, will make clear how to build a digital workplace on SharePoint, what features should be included in this platform, and how it can support drilling and completion activities.

Two undergraduate courses (2020-23) introduce students interested in the humanities and computing to the life, works, and intellectual and material legacy of the world-famous African American writer and activist James Baldwin (1924-1987). Cross-listed with the Afroamerican, American Culture, Digital Studies, and English Departments, these courses utilize an open-access digital collection documenting Baldwin’s life and his selected works. Through innovative and experiential application of literary history in conversation with the emerging fields of Black Digital Studies and Black Digital Humanities, students develop projects that build (and build on) a growing, open-access archive. Published on the ArcGIS StoryMaps platform, these projects achieve two important higher-education goals: (1) They produce student-driven knowledge on an internationally renowned Black figure accessible to non-academic users; and (2) they confirm the importance of humanities and diversity literacy as invaluable skillsets in the modern workplace.

In our fast-paced digital age, numerous daily tasks such as booking services, making payments, and shopping are seamlessly facilitated through online platforms. However, a crucial aspect that remains overlooked is the efficient hiring of labor for various tasks at homes, workplaces, and public spaces. This research paper addresses this significant gap in the labor market, focusing on the lack of a proper system for hiring coolies or unskilled laborers. Both service requesters and laborers face numerous challenges, including inefficiencies in booking processes and difficulties in securing consistent daily employment. This study explores the traditional coolie hiring process, highlighting the inefficiencies and challenges that hinder both laborers and service requesters. It provides a detailed analysis of the current situations faced by coolies, such as the lack of reliable employment opportunities, and the difficulties service requesters encounter in finding dependable labor. By examining these issues, the paper aims to offer a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics within the labor market and the expectations of both parties involved. The research identifies critical aspects of the hiring process and key pain points, such as the absence of a streamlined booking system, lack of verification for laborer skills, and the need for a transparent rating system. It suggests practical improvements, including the development of a digital platform that can enhance efficiency, ensure fair wages, and provide a more reliable means of employment for coolies. The goal of this paper is to present a thorough analysis that can inform future strategies and policies aimed at improving the hiring process for coolie laborers. By addressing these challenges, the proposed digital platform has the potential to benefit both the workforce and those seeking their services, ultimately contributing to a more organized and efficient labor market.

The advent of the new consumer era has led to rapid changes in order fulfillment scenarios and consumer needs. Merchants have also begun to expand multi-scenario and flexible real-time delivery services to meet different scenarios and consumer needs in a cost-effective manner. The rise of the "lazy economy" of the Z generation has also made instant delivery the "sweet pastry" in the Internet industry. In the past ten years, the agent driving market has flourished under the impetus of Chinese Internet companies, and with the changes in user needs, it has also extended to travel agent driving, business agent driving and other agent driving scenarios. However, with the normalization of the epidemic and the continuous changes in user needs, the agent driving industry is also facing considerable challenges. The specific problems are as follows: (1) In recent years, contemporary young people have changed their night lifestyles, the culture of workplace wine bureaus have become indifferent, and national control under the epidemic has caused KTV, bars and other entertainment venues to shut down one after another. The decline in the total market for drinking and drinking has forced the agency driving industry, which is dominated by the business of drunk driving, to find a second growth curve. (2) The driving products of various platforms are gradually becoming the same to a certain extent, and it is difficult to experience product differentiation. (3) With the substantial growth of the luxury car and new energy car market, the consumption level of head users of car-on-demand services has risen, and the existing car service market is showing a disconnection of the service link, which is in urgent need of digital transformation. Head users also put forward multi-scenario service requirements for on-demand driving. Therefore, broadening the service scenarios of the agent driving business, reversing the minds of users about driving on behalf of the drunk, and meeting the needs of users on behalf of the scene is the current research focus of scholars. Enterprise D is a global outstanding mobile travel platform, and its agent driving business is a branch of its business. The company’s current agent driving business is gradually being squeezed by a crowd of competing products due to its high service quality and high cost. The user's mind on the brand is still stuck in drunk driving, which makes it difficult to achieve breakthrough growth in GMV . This research takes D enterprise’s agent driving products as the research object, and conducts product expansion planning and research on its agent driving business through QFD theoretical methods. First of all, conduct scenario analysis and hierarchical decomposition of D enterprise’s customer needs. According to the principle of user demand analysis method KANO , analyze the current consumption needs and characteristics of D enterprise’s customers and potential customers, and determine the importance of user needs. Spend. Secondly, it analyzes the rising luxury car market and the new energy car market in the current automotive market, and uses QFD theory to transform user needs into a product development direction that can be used as a proxy driving platform to achieve GMV growth. It also analyzes the competitiveness of D enterprise, obtains the usability weight of the product expansion direction, and determines the key direction of D enterprise driving business scenario expansion. Finally, the product function upgrade and interactive interface optimization of the existing functions of the D enterprise’s agent driving platform will provide direction planning for the D enterprise’s agent driving business to achieve the second growth curve, reverse the user’s single mind on agent driving products, and enhance corporate competition ability.

Abstract Despite the existence of numerous innovative solutions aimed at enhancing the objectivity and efficiency of physical ergonomics analysis, traditional methods are still widely used among ergonomists, relying on direct observation of workers and their task performances. This research addresses this gap by introducing AR4Ergo, an Augmented Reality platform specifically designed to assist ergonomists by computing real-time standard indexes and simulating musculoskeletal loads using biomechanical virtual models. Xsens inertial motion capture system is employed to monitor human movements, while the OpenSim Application Programming Interface has been integrated into AR4Ergo for the simulation of musculoskeletal loads. Microsoft Hololens v2 is used to visualize human and workplace digital twins with information relative to ergonomic indexes and biomechanical simulations during the observation of the tasks performed by workers. A test was conducted to evaluate the functionalities of the platform, with three testers taking turns performing the roles of both the ergonomists and the operators. The results demonstrate how real-time analysis with a visual interface can be performed to augment ergonomists’ experience without modifying the basic observational procedure. Even if the feedback is positive, some improvements have been identified in order to allow the ergonomist to use AR4Ergo in daily practice for different industrial applications.

Following Schumpeter’s ideas, the Oslo Manual defines innovation as “the implementation of a new or significantly improved product (good or service), or process, a new marketing method, or a new organizational method in business practices, workplace organization or external relations”. With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, governments have become even more cognizant of innovation as a major driver of economic performance, from output to productivity and competitiveness. The Philippine government acknowledges its role in establishing and maintaining a conducive policy environment to encourage innovation and support the country’s innovation ecosystem. Examining innovation and its relation to economic growth, the study involves the conduct and analysis of the 2021 PIDS Survey of Innovation Activities (PSIA). Unlike the first PSIA undertaken in 2015 and a pilot of the survey conducted in 2009, the 2021 PSIA provides a nationally representative reading of the entire Philippine business and industry. The survey suggests that as of 2021, a third (33.6%) of firms are innovation active, with innovation practiced more among medium and large establishments than micro and small ones. Moreover, innovation is much more prevalent in Mindanao, among major islands, and in information and communications technology firms (and least in agriculture). Aside from the information on innovation activities, data on the use of digital platforms by Philippine businesses were also gathered in the 2021 PSIA in recognition of the expanding markets arising from rising digitalization and more rapid use of the internet, even by micro, small and medium enterprises. The survey results of the 2021 PSIA are expected to be inputs on how government can be more successful in mainstreaming innovation in the country.
