Hattay, Jamel. "Wavelet-based lifting structures and blind source separation : applications to digital in-line holography." Rouen, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016ROUES016.
The present thesis is meant to develop specific processes, in the realm of wavelets domain, for certain digital holography applications. We mainly use the so-called blind source separation (BSS) techniques to solve numerous digital holography problems, namely, the twin image suppression, real time coding and transmission of holograms. Firstly, we give a brief introduction to in-line configuration of digital holography in flow measurements: the recording step explanation and the study of two reconstruction approaches that have been used during this thesis. Then, we emphasize the two well known obstacles of digital holograms reconstruction, namely, the determination of the best focus plane and the twin image removal. Secondly, we propose a meticulous scrutiny of the tool, based on the Blind Source Separation (BSS), enhanced by a multiscale decomposition algorithm, which enables the blind separation of convolutively mixed images. The suggested algorithm uses a wavelet-based transformer, called Adaptive Quincunx Lifting Scheme (AQLS), coupled with an appropriate unmixing algorithm. The resulting deconvolution process is made up of three steps. In the first step, the convolutively mixed images are decomposed by AQLS. Then, separation algorithm is applied to the most relevant component to unmix the transformed images. The unmixed images are, thereafter, reconstructed using the inverse of the AQLS transform. In a subsequent part, we adopt the blind source separation technique in the wavelet field domain to solve several problems related to digital holography. In this context, we present two main contributions for digital in-line hologram processing. The first contribution consists in an entropy-based method to retrieve the best focus plane, a crucial issue in digital hologram reconstruction. The second contribution consists in a new approach to remove a common unwanted artifact in holography called the twin image. The latter contribution is based on the blind source separation technique, and the resulting algorithm is made up of two steps: an Adaptive Quincunx Lifting Scheme (AQLS) based on the wavelet packet transform and a statistical unmixing algorithm based on Independent Component Analysis (ICA) tool. The role of the AQLS is to maximize the sparseness of the input holograms. Since the convolutive formalism is retained in digital in-line holography, BSS-based tool is extended and coupled with wavelet-based AQLS to fulfill the deconvolution task. Experimental results confirm that convolutive blind source separation is able to discard the unwanted twin image from digital in-line holograms. The last of this part consists in measuring the thickness of a ring. This ring is obtained from an improved reconstructed image of an hologram containing a vapor bubble created by thermal coupling between a laser pulse and nanoparticles in a droplet of a liquid. The last part introduces the Tele-Holography concept. Once the image of the object is perfectly reconstructed, the next objective is to code and transmit the reconstructed image for an interactive flow of exchange between a given laboratory, where the holograms are recorded, and a distant partner research. We propose the tele-holography process that involves the wavelet transform tool for lossless compression and transmission of digital holograms. The concept of tele-holography is motivated by the fact that the digital holograms are considered as a 2D image yielding the depth information of 3D objects. Besides, we propose a quincunx embedded zero-tree wavelet coder (QEZW) for scalable transmission. Owing to the transmission channel capacity, it reduces drastically the bit rate of the holography transmission flow. A flurry of experimental results carried out on real digital holograms show that the proposed lossless compression process yields a significant improvement in compression ratio and total compressed size. These experimentations reveal the capacities of the proposed coder in terms of real bitrate for progressive transmission

A golf course consists of eighteen holes. On each hole, the golfer has to move the ball from the tee to the flag in a minimum number of shots. Under some assumptions, the golfer's problem can be modeled as a stochastic shortest path problem (SSP). SSP problem is a special case of Markov Decision Processes in which an agent evolves dynamically in a finite set of states. In each state, the agent chooses an action that leads him to another state following a known probability distribution. This action induces a cost. There exists a `sink node' in which the agent, once in it, stays with probability one and a cost zero. The goal of the agent is to reach the sink node with a minimum expected cost. In the first chapter, we study the SSP problem theoretically. We define a new framework in which the assumptions needed for the existence of an optimal policy are weakened. We prove that the most famous algorithm still converge in this setting. We also define a new algorithm to solve exactly the problem based on the primal-dual algorithm. In the second chapter we detail the golfer's problem model as a SSP. Thanks to the Shotlink database, we create `numerical clones' of players and simulate theses clones on different golf course in order to predict professional golfer's scores. We apply our model on two competitions: the master of Augusta in 2017 and the Ryder Cup in 2018. In the third chapter, we study the 2-player natural extension of SSP problem: the stochastic shortest path games. We study two special cases, and in particular linear programming formulation of these games

The demand for emergency medical services has been significant and increasing over the last decade. In a constrained medico-economic context, the maintenance of operational capacities represents a strategic strake in front of the risk of congestion and insufficient accessibility for the population. Recent events such as the COVID-19 pandemic show the limits of the current system to face crisis situations. Reinforcement in human resources cannot be the only solution in front of this observation and it becomes unavoidable to build new organizational models while aiming at a quality of service allowing to answer 99% of the incoming calls in less than 60 seconds (90% in 15s and 99% in 30s MARCUS report and HAS recommendation October 2020). However, these models must take into account the great heterogeneity of EMS and their operation. In the light of these findings, the research work presented in this manuscript aims to evaluate the organizational effiectiveness and resilience of EMS in managing the flow of emergency telephone calls to deal with daily life and crisis situations. This evaluation allows us to propose and test new organizational schemes in order to make recommendations adpated to the particularities of emergency call centers. In a first part, we propose a methodology equipped for the diagnosis and improvement of emergency call centers. It can be broken down into two main parts: the study of data from emergency call centers, and then the design and use of a dual digital system. For each step of this methodology, we propose an associated tool. In a second part, we apply the first part of the methodology to our partner EMS data. The aim is to be able to extract information and knowledge from the telephony data as well as from the business processes for handling emergency calls. The knowledge thus extracted makes it possible to design a digital duplicate that is close to the real behavior of the EMS. Finally, in a third part, we use the material produced previously to model and parameterize a digital duplicate deployed on a discrete event simulation engine. It allows us to test several scenarios by playing on different call management organizations. Thanks to this, we make recommendations on the types of organizations to adopt in order to improve the performance of call centers

Throughout the project life cycle in the built environment, the extensive employment of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the very recent advancements of other digital technologies have provided various new insights and decision-making capabilities. As a result, a large amount of data must be conveyed, altered, coordinated, and exchanged across multiple stakeholders throughout the construction process. The potential of cost management, facility maintenance to the information sharing and monitoring of the built asset put in an environment has led to the concept of a greater level of detailing of the built asset model emerging in recent years. The digitization/computerization of various phases and processes of built environments is growing to have a broad influence on how architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sector’s projects are planned, developed, and managed, as a result of the development of huge data in projects. The intersection of digital technologies and smart systems, along with data systems, has lately been identified as one of the most innovative and cutting-edge technological breakthroughs in the built environment. Although the integration of digital technology into the AEC industry’s practices has proven benefits throughout the lifecycle of the built asset and this incorporation has the potential to transform the construction industry, however, there exist still challenges in its intelligent implementation. For instance, one of the major problems is its precise and efficient employment for required outcomes that confirms the solid need for an intuitive framework. Therefore, the present dissertation is influentially aimed at developing a systematic guide document for the efficient implementation of digital twin technology in the built environment. A step-by-step guide framework (termed as Digital Twin Execution Plan – DTxP) is prepared that follows the workflows and information exchange requirements in order to effectively employ digitalization in the available built environment projects. A thorough literature review is carried out to collect the relevant scientific information and different codes of practice were also consulted to make sure the alignment of the developed framework with the regional and international standards. Industry practitioners were also consulted in order to get feedback on the real-life industry practices and how digitalization can really be implemented while solving the existing problems. The developed framework document reflects a comprehensive set of information on when, how, and who is responsible for what task(s) when a higher amount of productivity is required in a built environment project that is employing digital twin technology. Although the guide document is targeted to employ the digitalization in reinforced concrete bridge structure for its structural performance analysis, fatigue assessment, traffic monitoring, and ground stability, among others, the developed framework could be extended by the industry professionals working in BIM to control the information throughout the built asset’s life cycle. Besides, the development document could serve as a benchmark or a template document to follow when efficient employment of the digital twin technology into the built environment practices is needed.

This study aims to implement Digital Twain concept to improve the communication of product design and development communication of ODM (Original Design Manufacturing). To accurately communication and control digital information from the physical world will be the key to the development of future products. This paper clarifies the communication problems caused by the differences in geography, time difference, language, and technical cognition during the product design and development stage, and the bottlenecks that may be encountered in the future as the motive. In this regard, the concept of digital twins is studied as a medium, and base on Virtual Team to improve communication during product development. This study is based on the virtual team model established by Jessica Lipnack and Jeffrey Stamps. From the research, it is found that the communication problem of the development team stems from the correctness and immediacy of the information, which affects the effectiveness of the virtual team and also impacts the degree of trust between the team members, which indirectly influence on the overall performance and cost. Through the Digital Twin concept experiment, the management model influences the manufacturing management process and the human-machine/human-person communication mode subtly, which show positively improve decision making efficiency. Further, the loading of information collection and transmission is minimized, so that the professionals can focus on the problem-solving ideas, and making it easy for managers to make the decision, which results from the higher satisfaction of information quality.
