Повний текст джерелаThe topic of this thesis was inspired by an engineering project in the oil industry. The challenge is the development of a formation-evaluation measurement that determines the water content of rocks and other petrophysical features in hydrocarbon-bearing formations. The measurement uses electromagnetic propagation signals between 100 and 1000 MHz to determine the dielectric constant of rocks around a well, as the sonde is moved along a hole through these rocks. The sonde deploys an array of tangential magnetic dipole antennas with two polarizations in a metal housing. The sonde uses a differential measurement to determine the wavelength and skin depth of the signal and that way the dielectric permittivity and electric conductivity of the surrounding medium. These dual-polarization antennas were designed by detailed modeling simulations and were characterized in extensive laboratory experiments. The good agreement between theoretical and experimental studies helped to identify and then eliminate parasitic radiation modes and provide a pure magnetic-dipole radiator. The optimized individual antennas were integrated into prototype arrays that successfully completed field trials with quantitative results that were independently confirmed and reached the expected accuracy and dynamic performance specifications

Повний текст джерелаPolymers are well appreciated materials in the field of electric and electronic components manufacturing, due to their excellent volume insulating properties. However, they have poor surface antistatic properties. Processes like ion bombardment can solve this problem. Polycarbonate and polymethylmethacrylate have been implanted by ions of various weights at different fluences, extraction tensions and ion flows. Surface resistivity has been measured and it has been demonstrated that this treatment makes these values decrease up to 8 orders of magnitude, without changing the volume resistivity. The influence of each parameter has been studied: all of them make the resistivity decrease when they increase. Space charges trapped into the matter have been studied by the means of the Alternating Thermal Waves Method. The samples that have been treated on the strongest conditions are the ones with the lowest space charges density. Formation of graphite nano-clusters is reported in scientific publications to be the cause of the change in electrical properties. Raman spectrometry analyses have been performed to detect this change in chemical structure. Some of the less resistive samples exhibit the signs of this kind of carbon whereas others do not, probably because of their lower implantation depth. The analysis of one very resistive sample has surprisingly revealed that he also contains graphite nano-clusters

Повний текст джерелаThe ever increasing use of microelectronics and its technological evolution makes integrated circuit manufacturing increasingly difficult, complex and expensive. The preservation of the high levels of yield and performance is in part attained through the implementation of powerful and adapted failure analysis laboratories. The study is set under this framework and presents the developments in failure analysis of laser stimulation to inject a small quantity of perturbing energy within the cores of integrated circuits. This work presents the evolution and the development of these techniques for dynamically activated integrated circuits. Through the measurement of various electric variations synchronized with the laser scanning, it is possible to identify laser sensitive zones and to isolate a great number of anomalies and defects. The different laser - integrated circuit interactions in static and dynamic modes are presented, and a description of the development and application of laser stimulation techniques through experimental results and industrial applications is given

Повний текст джерелаThis work focuses on the study of the PEF pretreatment effect of plant tissue on the freezing process. For that purpose, a study of the mechanisms occurring during the plant tissue permeabilization by PEF was performed. Results show that cells treated in a perpendicular direction to the electric field lines are more readily permeabilized than those treated in the direction parallel to the fields. There is no direct relationship between the effectiveness of CEP treatment and the cell radius. The ratio of the electrical conductivity of the tissue before and after treatment plays an important role in the choice of the PEF treatment parameters. Results have shown that the effect produced by a PEF pretreatment on the osmotic dehydration (OD), the freeze-drying and the freezing process show that a pretreatment at low intensity (400-580 V/cm) reduces the required freezing time. The results of the model developed showed that treatment with CEP seems to decrease their latent heat by changing their water content. Products treated with CEP + DO are frozen and freeze-dried faster than the untreated samples and with a better visual appearance

Повний текст джерелаThe European Union regulation (CE n°1069/2009) imposes a step of hygienization (thermal treatment at temperature ≥ 70 °C for a treatment time ≥ 60 min without interruption) before anaerobic digestion of certain biowaste issued from the agricultural and food processing industries. This energy-consuming treatment reduces the profitability of biogas production facilities. The literature review shows that, in Europe, the energy consumption of the thermal hygienization process accounts for around 6 to 25% of the primary energy produced by biogas plants. In the present PhD thesis, the alternative solutions for the microbial pasteurization, namely the electro- technologies (e.g. pulsed electric field, PEF) were studied. These technologies are essentially developed for the athermal inactivation of pathogens in food products. The bacterial strains Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 19433 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 were selected as indicator bacteria. A systematical study on the inactivation kinetics of the indicator bacteria treated at different electric parameters in batch and continuous system was realized. The efficiency of the treatment coupling PEF and ohmic heating, the effect of the specific energy delivered by PEF, the recovery of the injured bacteria and the kinetic and numeric modeling of the process were investigated as well. Results confirm the ability of PEF to hygienize animal by- products (i.e. a reduction of 5 log10 of Ent. faecalis) in batch and continuous system. The PEF treatment coupled with ohmic heating could significantly reduce the energy consumption of the process

Повний текст джерелаNowadays, the electrical vehicles (EV) market is undergoing a rapid expansion and has become ofgreat importance for utility companies such as EDF. In order to fulfill its objectives (demand optimization,pricing, etc.), EDF has to extract and analyze heterogeneous data from EV and charging spots. Inorder to tackle this, we used data warehousing (DW) technology serving as a basis for business process(BP). To avoid the garbage in/garbage out phenomena, data had to be formatted and standardized.We have chosen to rely on an ontology in order to deal with data sources heterogeneity. Because theconstruction of an ontology can be a slow process, we proposed an modular and incremental constructionof the ontology based on bricks. We based our DW on the ontology which makes its construction alsoan incremental process. To upload data to this particular DW, we defined the ETL (Extract, Trasform& Load) process at the semantic level. We then designed recurrent BP with BPMN (Business ProcessModelization & Notation) specifications to extract EDF required knowledge. The assembled DWpossesses data and BP that are both described in a semantic context. We implemented our solutionon the OntoDB platform, developed at the ISAE-ENSMA Laboratory of Computer Science and AutomaticControl for Systems. The solution has allowed us to homogeneously manipulate the ontology, thedata and the BP through the OntoQL language. Furthermore, we added to the proposed platform thecapacity to automatically execute any BP described with BPMN. Ultimately, we were able to provideEDF with a tailor made platform based on declarative elements adapted to their needs

Повний текст джерелаThe aim of this thesis was to study the thermoelectric properties of delafossite type oxides thin-films deposited by RF-magnetron sputtering. Several thicknesses of CuCrO2:3%Mg, CuFeO2:3%Mg and CuCr0,84Fe0,16O2:3%Mg oxides were deposited on fused silica then annealed under vacuum at different temperatures in order to obtain delafossite structure. The optimal annealing temperature which leads to an acceptable thermoelectric properties is 550°C for CuCrO2:Mg and CuCr0,84Fe0,16O2:Mg thin films and 700°C for CuFeO2:Mg thin film. The optimal thickness is 100 nm for the delafossite with chrome and 300 nm for delafossite with iron. The electrical conductivity of the studied thin films increases with the temperature, while maintaining a positive and constant Seebeck coefficient for the three given compositions that implies a hopping mechanism. The power factor of CuCrO2:Mg, CuFeO2:Mg and CuCr0,84Fe0,16O2:Mg thin films for which the annealing temperature and the thickness were optimized, reached 59 µW.m-1K-2, 84 µW.m-1K-2 and 36 µW.m-1K-2 respectively at 200°C. The microstructural and structural analysis allowed to understand the variation of the power factor with the annealing temperatures and the thicknesses. In particular, they showed that the decrease in the electrical conductivity of the thin films annealed at high temperature is due to concomitant phenomena of film cracking and magnesium segregation. A thermal analysis using modeling with the finite element method has demonstrated that in the case of thin films, the thermal conductivity of the substrate can be substituted for the thermal conductivity of the film in the calculation of figure of merit. The validity of the modified figure of merit ((ZT)* = S2σ/ksubstrate) was given as a function of the film thickness, emissivity and thermal conductivity. The thermal conductivity of CuFeO2:Mg was measured using the 3ω method and it was 4.82 W.m-1k-1 at 25°C which is within the range of validity established for the use of (ZT)*[...]

Повний текст джерелаThe objective of this thesis was to develop surface modification processes using atmospheric pressure plasma for the surface functionalization of polymers with amino groups (NH2) for biomedical applications. Developing a process working at atmospheric pressure aims to eliminate the need for a pumping system, thus obtaining a technology that would be efficient and low cost for an industrial process. The plasma generation mode chosen was a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD). Two surface modification strategies were investigated: Surface plasma amination and plasma thin film deposition. The two different types of surface modifications were characterized by X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Time of Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF SIMS), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Contact Angle goniometry (CA), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). On one hand, surface plasma amination, results demonstrate the importance of H2 and its derived species for amino groups functionalization on the surface of polymers in an atmospheric pressure DBD in N2-H2. Moreover, the obtained knowledge allows now the possibility to control and optimize the surface density and surface modification specificity for amino groups. On the other hand, the functionalized thin films obtained in an atmosphere of N2-C2H4 reveals a highly variable nitrogen concentration as a function of the reactive gas/carrier gas (C2H4/N2) while the surface density in amino groups is constant. Sticking coefficients and/or surface mobility of the different species created as a function of time residence in the discharge lead to different coating morphologies. The addition of H2 in the discharge leads to the formation of nanoparticles and new structures, named “nanorods” that present anisotropic dimensions (100-200 nm in diameter for 1-10 m in length). Finally, atmospheric pressure DBD surface functionalization is an efficient and low cost technique for the creation of uniform surface modification with amino groups that can be later used to covalently graft various chemicals functionalities; chemical functionalities that can be used for various applications.

The results obtained using these techniques are very complex to analyze in the case of analog and mixed ICs. In this work we develop a methodology which facilitates the analysis of the laser mapping. This methodology consists on combining the experimental results (laser mapping) with the electrical simulations of laser stimulation impact on the device. The influence of photoelectric and thermal phenomena on the IC (transistor level) has been modeled and simulated. The methodology has been validated primarily on test structures before being used on complex Freescale ICs existing in commerce
