Повний текст джерелаThe topic of this thesis was inspired by an engineering project in the oil industry. The challenge is the development of a formation-evaluation measurement that determines the water content of rocks and other petrophysical features in hydrocarbon-bearing formations. The measurement uses electromagnetic propagation signals between 100 and 1000 MHz to determine the dielectric constant of rocks around a well, as the sonde is moved along a hole through these rocks. The sonde deploys an array of tangential magnetic dipole antennas with two polarizations in a metal housing. The sonde uses a differential measurement to determine the wavelength and skin depth of the signal and that way the dielectric permittivity and electric conductivity of the surrounding medium. These dual-polarization antennas were designed by detailed modeling simulations and were characterized in extensive laboratory experiments. The good agreement between theoretical and experimental studies helped to identify and then eliminate parasitic radiation modes and provide a pure magnetic-dipole radiator. The optimized individual antennas were integrated into prototype arrays that successfully completed field trials with quantitative results that were independently confirmed and reached the expected accuracy and dynamic performance specifications

Повний текст джерелаPolymers are well appreciated materials in the field of electric and electronic components manufacturing, due to their excellent volume insulating properties. However, they have poor surface antistatic properties. Processes like ion bombardment can solve this problem. Polycarbonate and polymethylmethacrylate have been implanted by ions of various weights at different fluences, extraction tensions and ion flows. Surface resistivity has been measured and it has been demonstrated that this treatment makes these values decrease up to 8 orders of magnitude, without changing the volume resistivity. The influence of each parameter has been studied: all of them make the resistivity decrease when they increase. Space charges trapped into the matter have been studied by the means of the Alternating Thermal Waves Method. The samples that have been treated on the strongest conditions are the ones with the lowest space charges density. Formation of graphite nano-clusters is reported in scientific publications to be the cause of the change in electrical properties. Raman spectrometry analyses have been performed to detect this change in chemical structure. Some of the less resistive samples exhibit the signs of this kind of carbon whereas others do not, probably because of their lower implantation depth. The analysis of one very resistive sample has surprisingly revealed that he also contains graphite nano-clusters

Повний текст джерелаThe ever increasing use of microelectronics and its technological evolution makes integrated circuit manufacturing increasingly difficult, complex and expensive. The preservation of the high levels of yield and performance is in part attained through the implementation of powerful and adapted failure analysis laboratories. The study is set under this framework and presents the developments in failure analysis of laser stimulation to inject a small quantity of perturbing energy within the cores of integrated circuits. This work presents the evolution and the development of these techniques for dynamically activated integrated circuits. Through the measurement of various electric variations synchronized with the laser scanning, it is possible to identify laser sensitive zones and to isolate a great number of anomalies and defects. The different laser - integrated circuit interactions in static and dynamic modes are presented, and a description of the development and application of laser stimulation techniques through experimental results and industrial applications is given

Повний текст джерелаThis work focuses on the study of the PEF pretreatment effect of plant tissue on the freezing process. For that purpose, a study of the mechanisms occurring during the plant tissue permeabilization by PEF was performed. Results show that cells treated in a perpendicular direction to the electric field lines are more readily permeabilized than those treated in the direction parallel to the fields. There is no direct relationship between the effectiveness of CEP treatment and the cell radius. The ratio of the electrical conductivity of the tissue before and after treatment plays an important role in the choice of the PEF treatment parameters. Results have shown that the effect produced by a PEF pretreatment on the osmotic dehydration (OD), the freeze-drying and the freezing process show that a pretreatment at low intensity (400-580 V/cm) reduces the required freezing time. The results of the model developed showed that treatment with CEP seems to decrease their latent heat by changing their water content. Products treated with CEP + DO are frozen and freeze-dried faster than the untreated samples and with a better visual appearance

Повний текст джерелаThe European Union regulation (CE n°1069/2009) imposes a step of hygienization (thermal treatment at temperature ≥ 70 °C for a treatment time ≥ 60 min without interruption) before anaerobic digestion of certain biowaste issued from the agricultural and food processing industries. This energy-consuming treatment reduces the profitability of biogas production facilities. The literature review shows that, in Europe, the energy consumption of the thermal hygienization process accounts for around 6 to 25% of the primary energy produced by biogas plants. In the present PhD thesis, the alternative solutions for the microbial pasteurization, namely the electro- technologies (e.g. pulsed electric field, PEF) were studied. These technologies are essentially developed for the athermal inactivation of pathogens in food products. The bacterial strains Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 19433 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 were selected as indicator bacteria. A systematical study on the inactivation kinetics of the indicator bacteria treated at different electric parameters in batch and continuous system was realized. The efficiency of the treatment coupling PEF and ohmic heating, the effect of the specific energy delivered by PEF, the recovery of the injured bacteria and the kinetic and numeric modeling of the process were investigated as well. Results confirm the ability of PEF to hygienize animal by- products (i.e. a reduction of 5 log10 of Ent. faecalis) in batch and continuous system. The PEF treatment coupled with ohmic heating could significantly reduce the energy consumption of the process
