Повний текст джерелаOn-site and real-time measurement of gas concentrations are crucial for both the understanding and the monitoring of industrial and environmental processes. In recent years, there is an increasing need to develop portable multi-gas analysis tools allowing in situ detection of complex gas mixtures mainly due to safety, process and environmental considerations. A promising approach is based on the integration of the different parts of the analytical system (i.e. pre-concentrator, gas chromatography column, gravimetric sensors) in a silicon die by using standard microelectronic technologies. Each of these devices need to be coated by an appropriate functional layer. Metal Organic Frameworks (MOF), hybrid microporous crystalline materials with tuneable properties, are attractive for this type of application regarding their high specific surface area and chemical stability. However, these materials are usually synthetized via solvothermal techniques, which complicates the growth of continuous thin films and their integration in micro-devices. This work focuses on the development of a vapor phase-based route to produce Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework 8 (ZIF-8) thin films, a MOF of particular interest. The growth method is based on the deposition of ZnO layers by atomic layer deposition (ALD) on a substrate followed by ZIF-8 formation using cyclic exposure to water vapour and organic ligand in the gas phase. This approach allowed formation of thin films with tunable thickness between 5 and 200 nm, independently of the initial ZnO thickness. The impact of the process parameters (temperature of the substrate, water vapor pressure…) on the MOF growth was studied. The composition, morphology and crystallinity were examined using a wide range of characterization techniques (AFM, SEM, XRD and FTIR). Moreover, the growth mechanism was investigated by XPS and ToF-SIMS to understand the role of water during the reaction and several hypotheses were given. Finally, the as-synthesized films were thermally activated and the porosity was assessed using ellipsometric-porosimetry. Pore volume represents 30 % of the volume of the films in some cases. The adsorption properties of the films were also investigated using gravimetric gas sensors. Indeed, ZIF-8 films were grown on quartz crystal microbalance to study the interactions between the layer and several gases (methanol, acetone and water) in order to determine the benefit of ZIF-8 thin films in sensors. This work shows that the sensors coated with the ZIF-8 enable the detection of all the gases independently in the range of concentration tested. However, the sensitivity of the methanol detection is highly impacted by the addition of relative humidity

Повний текст джерелаAt the optoelectronics and optical systems conception boundary, focal plane arrays have a planar shape because of microelectronics technologies. Yet spherical focal plane arrays would simplify optical systems conception and reduce volume, weight and total cost. This shape is widespread in Nature - human concave eye, arthropods convex compound eyes, etc.The advantages of the bio-inspired curved retina have been established in previous works, where a spherical infrared microbolometers array was manufactured.During this thesis, the silicium-based devices curving proccess (e.g. bolometers) has been optimised thanks to a design of experiments and a finite element simulation including silicium anisotropy. Convex and concave shapes without defects (folds and flat part) have been demonstrated with square and rectangular chips due to their flexibility at small thicknesses.Then, a new and different curving proccess for hybrid devices (flip-chip) was developed. Several curved CdHgTe focal plane arrays were obtained and fully fonctionnal. Concave and convex spherical shapes as well as concave cylindrical shapes have been successfully achieved despite a high CdHgTe fragility.Optoelectronic measurements such as photonic current, responsivity, noise and dark current were performed with some adaptation for curved devices. High operabilities have been demonstrated (> 97 %). In addition a finite element simulation of the proccess has been conducted with the CdHgTe anisotropy. Direct relations between induced stress and strain, and optoelectronic properties, have been proved in this II-VI semiconductor. Location and surfacing of slip lines as well as dislocations identification are discussed.Finally, a compact infrared camera prototype with a curved CdHgTe focal plane array has been manufactured for the first time. It confirms that the device is fully fonctionnal and has a great potential for high value applications

Повний текст джерелаThanks to the experimental breakthrough of the last years in the manipulation of ultra cold atomic gases, it has become possible to realize low-dimensional and mesoscopic quantum fluids. The object of this thesis is the theoretical investigation of a few mesoscopic systems that can be realized with a one-dimensional Bose gas. These systems exhibit interesting quantum phenomena, and are potentially relevant for technological applications. We study the phenomenon of persistent currents induced by stirring the gas confined on a ring with a potential barrier, we examine the feasibility of a qubit based on the superposition of current states in a ring lattice threaded by a gauge field in the presence of a weak-link, and we investigate the dipole excitation of the gas in a split trap induced by an out-of-equilibrium displacement of the external potential. In all these cases, we apply a combination of analytical and numerical approaches that allow to cover all the interaction regimes. As a recurring theme, we disclose a so-far unknown regime of maximal screening of the barrier potential by the fluid, arising from the interplay of effects due to interactions and quantum fluctuations. These results have significant consequences for the behaviour of such systems and are important for the ongoing and future realization of ultracold atomic gases devices

Повний текст джерелаPolicy instruments on passenger vehicle emissions aim at reducing negative environmental externalities from vehicles use. To regulate CO2 emissions, fuel economy standards have been put in place in Europe and in the US, among others. These standards are made more stringent over time. This thesis analyzes how automotive firms anticipate and prepare their future technology portfolio to comply with expected future standards. To do so, we develop a model of optimal technology choice that captures technology diffusion constraints.With this framework, this thesis investigates three policy questions. First, we ask how the form of anticipation can affect near- and long-term technology choices. We find that focusing solely on near-term objectives can lead to failure to comply with a long-term target. In fact, meeting the near-term target is not a necessary nor a sufficient condition to satisfy long-term compliance. Moreover, when there is partial anticipation, as in a myopic view of the future, technology choices will be stuck with low abatement technologies creating a path dependency that limits long-term abatement potential.Second, we ask how much indexing fuel economy standard to mass (as in Europe or China) changes the optimal technology. We show that, for the same emission target, there is no significant difference in the social cost of mobility for an average vehicle with and without mass index. Thus a heavier vehicle fleet has the same cost than a lighter one. However, the technology choices are different, and mass indexed fuel economy standards lead to sidestepping lightweight technologies despite being cost effective from a CO2 emissions abatement point of view.Third, we ask how technology choices change when policies with multiple objectives overlap. We focus on two externalities associated with mobility: CO2 emissions and local air pollution. We show three type of effects of overlapping policies. First, a technology specific policy such as the Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate in combination with a fuel economy standard induces carmakers to develop more expensive green technologies and prevents cheap, dirty technologies from disappearing compared to the case of a fuel economy standard alone. Second, the combination of policies can lead to very high costs when technologies adapted to each policy are very different. Third, we find an ambiguous effect of overlapping policies relative to single-objective policy in terms of emissions performance

Повний текст джерелаFormerly in a monopolistic situation and running on a politico-administrative mode, Gaz de Bordeaux is a network industry now part of a competitive market. The present case study of this local public utility is meant to identify the nature of its modernisation and to measure its effects as well on the system of social regulations and professional identities, as on the capacities of action and forms of appropriation/resistance developed by the various categories of actors within the company. From a methodological point of view, we pledged ourselves with a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches, aiming at articulating analysis of the work being done with that of collective action, both considered as linked realities. As work gains in intensity, in both senses of productive pressure (do more in less time and with fewer staff) and interest (given the need expressed by every person to come true by the reality of its work), the company appears as disrespectful of the quality of work possible and the capacities mobilized by individuals that modern management precisely contributed to develop. Faced with this reorganisation of work, labor unions struggle to grasp the issues at stake in modern employment relationships and translate individual complaints in renewed collective claims. Despite increasing individual withdrawal behaviours, working collectives recompose on new bases. We therefore revisit the origin of suffering at work; from its contemporary mutations, we present evidence for what we believe is one of its current major problems: the one at stake around what employees call a "well done work", at the very moment when management is concerned with quality

It’s improvment is made through the basic development of traditionnal factories and an intensification of work due to colonial workforce for the most. At the end of the war, the chemical industry as to convert to civil markets. The 1920-1921 crisis shows the fragility of this industry. When the economic growth is back in 1922-29 the German chemical is more competitive thane ever having rationalized its structures. Thus the inner market is developped. At the end of the period, scientific research is rising. Nevertheless the capitalistic transformation is far for being made. The branch is still divided in archaïc (foreign workforce) and modern trends
