Purpose: Video is a popular medium for instructing people how to use software. In 2013, van der Meij and van der Meij proposed eight guidelines for the design of instructional videos for software training. Since then, production techniques and video features evolved, and new insights about characteristics of effective video instructions emerged. Methods: Based on recent study outcomes and our reflections on instructional video designs, the original set of eight guidelines was restructured, updated, and extended. Results:A new framework with 11 guidelines was constructed. For these guidelines the article provides scientifically-based advice for the design of instructional videos for software training. Conclusion: The new framework and the illustrations of how the guidelines were applied in videos should provide useful insights for further practice and research on instructional video design.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceptions of teachers andstudents in Islamic Junior High School about duration, their involvement inthe video (cast), format and post-video watch activities of English supplementary videos to ensure the videos that will be made are effective. Using a descriptive quantitative method, this study reveals that video is a fun learning tool to study English, so that the students don’t mind if the video duration is more than 15 minutes. About the cast, the students inclined to be involved in producing the video. About the format, the majority chooses the drama method with Bahasa subtitled. About the post-video watch activities, they prefer to do a writing rather than a speaking activity. During the video playing, they didn’t taking a note or observing the whole plot yet, so that they wish the video can be replayed outside the class,just like on television or youtube

Aim/Purpose: The objective of this study is to understand how video lectures of the same length and content as the current face-to-face lectures can be designed and implemented to have a positive effect on student performance, particularly when there is a campus shutdown. Background: In a number of South African universities protests by the students are on the increase. Often, they lead to the cancellation of academic activities such as face-to-face classes and examinations. Methodology: A quasi-experimental design was used on two video lectures to (1) compare the performance of the students who did not watch the video lectures and those who watched the video lectures, (2) compare the performance of each student who watched the video lectures on the test topics covered in the videos and the test topics not covered in the videos, and (3) determine the factors that influence the effectiveness of the video lectures. Contribution: This study contributes to the literature by investigating the effectiveness of video lectures in improving student performance, the factors associated to the effectiveness of such lectures, and the complexity or simplicity of the two video lectures used, and by providing possible solutions to the challenges identified in relation to designing video lectures. Findings: In terms of student performance, there is no significant advantage arising from watching the video lectures for the students who watch the video lectures, as compared to those who did not watch the video lectures. It is also found that the student performance on the topics with video lectures is significantly associated to the students’ commitment, prior performance, the quality of the content, and the design of the videos. Recommendations for Practitioners: This study recommends how the accounting video lectures can be designed and highlights the environments in which the video lectures of the same length and content as the face-to-face lectures should not be used. Recommendation for Researchers: Researchers should replicate this study by using short length videos of better quality and appropriate length, which incorporate current issues, games, are interactive, and so forth. Impact on Society: This study examines the use of educational video lectures in order to minimise the impact of disruptions at university level. Future Research: Future studies may use randomly selecting treatment and control groups. They may consider a nationwide research or using qualitative interviews in examining the use of educational video lectures.

Videos are arguably the most important and frequently used instructional resource in massive open online courses (MOOCs). Recent research has explored learners’ perceptions and preferences regarding MOOC instructional videos. However, these studies are often limited to a small number of specific courses, and few grounded theory studies have been undertaken to investigate this topic. In the present study, a multiple-coder research methodology was adopted to analyze 4534 learner reviews of MOOCs in 14 categories. The study aimed to identify key characteristics associated with learners’ favorable perceptions of MOOC videos, types of supplemental or in-video resources learners perceive helpful to support MOOC video use, and video production features learners value. Results revealed that (a) “organized”, “detailed”, “comprehensible”, “interesting”, and “practical” were the top five important characteristics associated with learners’ favorable perceptions of MOOC videos; (b) learners perceived “presentation slides”, “reading materials”, “post-video assessments”, “embedded questions”, and “case studies” as helpful resources to support their utilization of MOOC videos; and (c) learners found “duration” a more salient production feature than “editing”, “resolution”, “subtitles”, “music”, or “voice”. The findings present implications for MOOC video design and foundations for future research avenues.

Along with the development of technologies on computer, electronic and communication, there are more and more applications of digital image acquisition and processing technology used in computer and portable systems, such as videophone, digital cameras, digital television, video monitoring, camera phones and video conferencing etc. Digitized image makes image digital transmit with high quality, which facilitates image retrieval, analysis, processing and storage. In applications such as video conferencing, it is a crucial premise to capture videos. So, in this paper, we mainly introduce the video capture technology by exploiting the VFM video services library developed by Microsoft. Software based on VFW can directly capture digital videos or digitize the traditional analog videos and then clipping them.

DisplayPort is a powerful digital display interface to connect a video source to a display device, and DisplayPort can transmit audio and video with high effectiveness. In this Paper, we present a novel high-definition video monitor system based on DisplayPort. After a careful investigation of DisplayPort characteristics and high-definition video features, we propose a three-layered high-definition video monitor system including: 1) High-definition Camera Layer, 2) Camera Control Gateway Layer and 3) DisplayPort based client Layer. High-definition videos can be transmitted from camera to client with high speed, and can be display clearly on Client owing to DisplayPort.

Interior design requires designer creativity and significant workforce investments. Meanwhile, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is crucial for enhancing the creativity and efficiency of interior design. Therefore, this study proposes an innovative method to generate multistyle interior design and videos with AI. First, this study created a new indoor dataset to train an AI that can generate a specified design style. Subsequently, video generation and super-resolution modules are integrated to establish an end-to-end workflow that generates interior design videos from texture-free 3D models. The proposed method utilizes AI to produce diverse interior design videos directly, thus replacing the tedious tasks of texture selection, lighting arrangement, and video rendering in traditional design processes. The research results indicate that the proposed method can effectively provide diverse interior design videos, thereby enriching design presentation and improving design efficiency. Additionally, the proposed workflow is versatile and scalable, thus holding significant reference value for transforming traditional design toward intelligence.

This study aims to find out how the scene is in the integrated service video documentation, to know the cinematographic techniques used in the integrated service video documentation, and to find out the responses of respondents to the integrated research video documentation. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The method of data collection is by means of observation, documentation, and questionnaires. Data analysis used is data reduction, and the feasibility percentage scale. The results of this study indicate that: (1) The scan applied to the 2022 community service video media is the initial scan showing the Phinisi tower, the next scan showing departure to the service location, the next scan showing the servant at the service location, and the closing scan showing the logo animation LP2M. (2) The cinematographic technique that is often used in this community service video media uses an objective camera angel and a subjective camera angel to capture every scene in the community service video media that is made. Low angel level, Eye level angle, High level camera, Extreme long shot, Very long shot, Medium long shot, Close up, and Medium close up. The composition in the dedication video media "Cinematographic Design on Video Documentation of the Results of Community Service LP2M UNM" also varies, but uses more informal compositions in shooting. (3) Service Lecturers provide positive feedback on the resulting media on a number of video criteria that are made, including from taking pictures, video stages, and explanations on videos that are displayed clearly.Keywords :Cinematography, Video Documentation, Results of Service, LP2M.

The depth synthesis of image texture is neglected in the current image visual communication technology, which leads to the poor visual effect. Therefore, the design method of film and TV animation based on 3D visual communication technology is proposed. Collect film and television animation videos through 3D visual communication content production, server processing, and client processing. Through stitching, projection mapping, and animation video image frame texture synthesis, 3D vision conveys animation video image projection. In order to ensure the continuous variation of scaling factors between adjacent triangles of animation and video images, the scaling factor field is constructed. Deep learning is used to extract the deep features and to reconstruct the multiframe animated and animated video images based on visual communication. Based on this, the frame feature of video image under gray projection is identified and extracted, and the animation design based on 3D visual communication technology is completed. Experimental results show that the proposed method can enhance the visual transmission of animation video images significantly and can achieve high-precision reconstruction of video images in a short time.

Nowadays, video content consumption through video platforms is growing exponentially. In the education field, although video content is used more often than text content, but there are certain challenges. In this paper, we propose a system that can easily and efficiently create summary notes for the video while playing educational content videos. The summary notes will include keyword-based text information, image information at specific points in the video, and video bookmark information based on video frame and play time. When playing a video, a user can repeat two kinds of events at the moment a specific scene appears, capture a particular video frame in the video, and generate a keyword. The system provides functions for text extraction and to input of user comments that help organize the video information so that summary notes can be created more conveniently. It can collectively organize the video information to lessen the user’s time summarizing video information. it is also possible to quickly search the contents of the summary note using keyword.

This article demonstrates how Universal and Human-Centered Design approaches can be applied to the process of library video tutorial creation in order to enhance accessibility. A series of questions that creators should consider in order to focus their design process is discussed. These questions break down various physical and cognitive limitations that users encounter, providing a framework for future video creation that is not dependent on specific software. By approaching accommodations more holistically, videos are created with accessibility in mind from their conception. Working toward the ideal of a video tutorial that is accessible to every user leads to the creation of more clearly worded, effective learning objects that are much more inclusive, making instructional concepts available to users of all abilities.

PurposeKeywords search is intuitive, simple to use and convenient. It is also thede factoinput interface for textual and multimedia retrieval. However, individuals often perform poorly when faced with exploratory search tasks that are common during learning, resulting in poor quality searches. The purpose of this paper is to examine how adolescent learners search and select videos to support self-learning. The findings allow for the identification of design concepts of video retrieval interface and features that can facilitate better exploratory searches.Design/methodology/approachParticipants were assigned two customized video search tasks. The think-aloud protocol is used to allow participants to verbalize their actions, thoughts and feeling. This approach offered rich insights to the participants’ cognitive processes and considerations when performing the search tasks.FindingsThis study identified five themes for exploratory video search behavior: selection of internet resources, query formulation/reformulation, selection of the video(s) for preview, getting acquainted with the video content, and making a decision for the search task. The analysis of these themes led to a number of design concepts, ranging from supporting exploration of topics to better interaction with metadata.Practical implicationsThe findings can inform future development of dedicated video retrieval systems interfaces that seeks to facilitate effective exploratory searches by learners.Originality/valueThis study contributes by suggesting design concepts for video retrieval system developers to support exploratory video searches.

With the rapid development of the Internet, a new carrier for people to perceive the world and communicate with each other - audio and video - is gradually being favoured by the public. The development of multimedia technology and artificial intelligence technology has provided a milestone for the maturity of audio and video technology. In particular, short video platforms have slowly become a new network position for various media promotions. Especially at the moment of the epidemic, the channel of understanding the world through audio and video is increasingly valued. The public has put forward higher demands on the content and presentation of audio and video. Therefore, it is particularly important to produce quality audio-video that meets the requirements of the times, which cannot be achieved without a feasible audio-video editing system. In addition, after previous research and practice, the application of artificial intelligence technology in the field of imaging has also become mature, including some applications in the direction of entertainment. Applying AI technology to the video editing process can improve the efficiency of video editing, increase the interest of video content, and allow video creators to focus on content creation without spending too much time and energy on video editing operations, thus creating better quality videos. This design is the main technology of OpenCV and front-end technology stack, such as JavaScript, React and Electron, to implement basic video editing, video filters, in addition to the development of a friendly interactive interface. The implementation of basic video editing module and video filter module are both based on OpenCV implementation. In this design, the basic video editing implements pan, zoom and rotate operations on the video, and the video filter module is implemented by changing the RGB channel values of the image. The operations on the video can be broken down into operations on each frame of the video, and OpenCV provides a way to implement these operations. The paper concludes with a summary of the shortcomings and flaws in the design, and an outlook on the next steps and future directions. This design is the main technology of OpenCV and front-end technology stack, such as JavaScript, React and Electron, to implement basic video editing, video filters, in addition to the development of a friendly interactive interface. Using video in educational context has been established by many scholars as an effective instructional media to support the teaching and learning process. There have been numerous videos are available on social media platforms that can facilitate both teachers and students to easily access the videos as learning resources. However, the teachers are challenged to be able to provide their own learning resources, such as videos which are aimed to deliver the lessons in more contextual and authentic senses. In this regards, this study is aimed to encapsulate the design and development process of creating a video as an instructional media in English language teaching context. ADDIE (Analysis, Designing, Developing, Implementing, and Evaluating) framework was employed in the process of designing and developing the video. Documentation, observation, and testing were administered as data collection techniques to support the design and development of the video. Furthermore, this paper depicts the researchers’ experiences on the design and development of a video lesson as well as the survey findings. Implications of the findings for instructional design and recommendation for future research are also discussed.

Instructional videos play a central role in most online English courses of the current generation. However, previous research on the design and production of these videos has not been adequate, with direct feedback of learners largely neglected. To address the gap, the present study provides an explorative investigation of the perspectives of EFL learners on instructional videos used in online English courses. Through content analysis of students' comments on three existing instructional videos, it reveals the most favorable features of an instructional video, the means to actualize these features, and students' perceptions of different aspects of the physical design of an instructional video. The findings provide video producers with suggestions on the design and production of instructional videos used in online English courses.

Programs may vary according to (a) whether teachers watch videos of their own/their peers’ instruction, or whether teachers watch stock video of unknown teachers; and (b) whether discussions are led by trained facilitators or by participants themselves. Using a factorial design, we defined four treatment conditions based on these possibilities, then assigned three groups of teachers to each condition. Teachers watched, scored, and discussed mathematics instruction according to each treatment condition’s protocol. Evidence from groups’ conversations and teachers’ video analyses and lesson reflections suggest that the teacher-led, own-video condition is slightly superior to the other conditions.

Videos are commonly used in education. Benefitting from instructional videos in learning processes empowers students’ academic outcomes. In spite of this, educators have no consensus on optimal video length. There is a need to cease speculations on optimal video length since most of them have been relying only on context-based tips or best practices. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to delve into the optimal video length discussion through the lens of perceived learning and flow experience. We employed repeated measure experimental design with randomization of treatment order for each participant. Twenty-eight university students from two big cities in Türkiye volunteered to participate in the study. Short, medium, and long videos were compared via Friedman test. Results of this study substantiated instructional video length does not seem to affect students’ perceived learning and their overall flow experience. However, they tend to concentrate and focus better on short videos. We call for an end to optimal video length discussion for videos shorter than 10 minutes, especially in terms of learning. The implications relying on the findings were discussed in terms of differences between “thinking to be in flow” and “being actually in flow.” The recommendations are given in detail in the full text.

One of the modern trends in both formal and corporate education is microlearning which involves using short videos in educational process. Microlearning has a variety of advantages including that this approach is more student-oriented, aimed at increasing the level of mastering knowledge, requires less time spent by students for learning, gives a possibility to study at any time and anywhere using own devices, increases motivation etc. The article deals with methodological aspects of creating educational video materials taking into account psychological peculiarities and learning habits of modern students. Video materials belong to the most powerful tools in educational process as they provide students with the possibility of simultaneous perception of auditory and visual information. Video materials must be strictly structured and involve students into learning process, in particular they could be included into different sources of electronic learning courses (ELC). There are different types of videos that are used in ELC such as introductory video, video lectures, video tutorials, additional video materials, interactive video. In spite of content variety all video materials undergo the same procedure of creation including dividing material into logically finished parts, notions definition, writing content questions, components structuring etc. Recording of a video must be a thoroughly planned process to ensure high quality of outcoming product. The article also deals with peculiarities of webinars as one of the possibilities of using video materials in educational process of higher educational institutions. Different types of webinars are analysed including tutorial webinar, lecture webinar, practical webinar. Aim/Purpose: The number of students enrolled in online courses that use video lectures is on the rise. However, research shows that the number of students watching video lectures is low, and the number watching videos to completion is even lower. Background: This paper seeks to understand this problem by looking for correlations between instructional design and student engagement with video lectures. Methodology: Students at a cyber-university in South Korea (n=1801) were surveyed on their perception of the instructional design used in the courses they took and their engagement with online video lectures. Contribution: This paper contributes to the body of knowledge by demonstrating positive correlations between instructional design, watching, and finishing video lectures. Findings: While most other research has found low levels of online lecture viewership, this paper found significantly higher numbers watching and finishing videos. Other major findings of the paper are that five key elements of instructional design for online learning environments (designing methods, setting the curriculum, establishing time parameters, establishing netiquette, and utilizing the medium effectively) all correlated positively with students watching and finishing video lectures. Recommendations for Practitioners : Based on findings in this paper, it is recommended that practitioners consider taking actions when designing their instruction for online courses. These include batching their video lectures together by topic, devoting greater resources to helping students utilize the medium, and communicate time parameters in a way that encourages students to view video lectures in a timely manner. Recommendation for Researchers: As the watching of video lectures in this study was mandatory for learners, an interesting area of further research would be to examine whether that decision led to higher numbers of students watching them. Future Research: It is important for researchers to conduct further research into the interplay between ways instructors can design their instruction in order to encourage learners to better experience online learning.

ABSTRACT Background Video is an increasingly popular medium for consuming online content, and video-based education is effective for knowledge acquisition and development of technical skills. Despite the increased interest in and use of video in medical education, there remains a need to develop accurate and trusted collections of peer-reviewed videos for medical learners. Objective We developed the first professional society-based, open-access library of crowd-sourced and peer-reviewed educational videos for medical learners and health care providers. Methods A comprehensive peer-review process of medical education videos was designed, implemented, reviewed, and modified using a plan-do-study-act approach to ensure optimal accuracy and effective pedagogy, while emphasizing modern teaching methods and brevity. The number of submissions and views were tracked as metrics of interest and engagement of medical learners and educators. Results The Best of American Thoracic Society Video Lecture Series (BAVLS) was launched in 2016. Total video submissions for 2016, 2017, and 2018 were 26, 55, and 52, respectively. Revisions to the video peer-review process were made after each submission cycle. By 2017, the total views of BAVLS videos on www.thoracic.org and YouTube were 9100 and 17 499, respectively. By 2018, total views were 77 720 and 152 941, respectively. BAVLS has achieved global reach, with views from 89 countries. Conclusions The growth in submissions, content diversity, and viewership of BAVLS is a result of an intentional and evolving review process that emphasizes creativity and innovation in video-based pedagogy. BAVLS can serve as an example for developing institutional or society-based video platforms.

Recent experiments show video games have a range of positive cognitive effects, such as improvement in attention, spatial cognition and mental rotation, and also overcoming of cognitive disabilities such as fear of flying. Further, game environments are now being used to generate scientific discoveries, and bring about novel phenomenological effects, such as out-of-body experiences. These advances provide interesting interaction design possibilities for video games. However, since the cognitive mechanisms underlying these experimental effects are unknown, it is difficult to systematically derive novel systems and interaction designs based on these results. We review the emerging cognitive mechanism known as common coding (which proposes a common neural representation connecting execution, perception and imagination of movements), and outline how this mechanism could provide an integrated account of the cognitive effects of video games. We then illustrate, using two ongoing projects, how novel video game interaction designs could be derived by extending common coding theory.

Although the flipped pedagogical approach has been exhaustively explored, the effect of video length remains sparsely studied. Through a mixed design, videos, and three ratio scales, this study determined the effect of video length on English proficiency, student engagement, and satisfaction in a flipped English classroom in China. We concluded that: (1) The short video (shorter than 5 minutes)-assisted English flipped classroom could lead to significantly higher English proficiency, student engagement, and satisfaction than the flipped classroom assisted with medium videos (10–20 minutes); and (2) The medium video-assisted English flipped classroom could lead to significantly higher English proficiency, student engagement, and satisfaction than the flipped classroom assisted with long videos (longer than 30 minutes). Designers of videos could make every effort to provide short videos to improve English proficiency, engagement, and satisfaction. They could also seriously consider a scale, a mobile platform, quizzes, pictures, and multimedia in the future design and innovation of videos.

Well-designed laboratories can help students master content and science practices by successfully completing the laboratory experiments. Upper-division chemistry laboratory courses often present special challenges for instruction due to the instrument intensive nature of the experiments. To address these challenges, particularly those associated with rotation style course structures, pre-laboratory videos were generated for two upper-division laboratory courses, Analytical Measurements and Physical Measurements. Sets of videos were developed for each experiment: a pre-laboratory lecture, an experimental, and a data analysis video. We describe the theoretical principles that guided the design of the instructional videos as well as the process. To assess the impact of the videos on students' successful completion of the experiments, a mixed-methods approach to data collection was used, which included video-recorded laboratory observations, student one-on-one interviews, and the Meaningful Learning in the Laboratory Inventory (MLLI) survey. Our findings indicate that video-based resources can help alleviate some challenges associated with rotation-style labs, particularly the temporal disconnect between pre-laboratory lectures and experiment completion as well as the need for more student autonomy in upper-division laboratory courses.

Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) is a course that is required during the third year in the mechanical engineering curriculum at Binghamton University. The primary objective of the course is to educate students in the procedures of computer-aided engineering design. The solid modeling and analysis program Pro/Engineer™ (PTC®) is used as the basis of this course. As a means to this objective, students must be trained to use the Pro/Engineer™ software. We created a series of video lectures using Camtasia Studio (TechSmith®) to accomplish the Pro/Engineer™ training. As the literature for the software says: “Camtasia Studio is a complete solution for quickly creating professional-looking videos of your PC desktop activity.” Thirteen videos were created for this course, which incorporated audio combined with PowerPoint™ slides. The video files (avi's) are distributed to students on five CD's. This article describes the structure of the course and how the videos are integrated into it. Also included is a brief overview of the creation of the videos. Results of a survey of student satisfaction with the video format that was used in the course are presented.

Abstract Dynamic Scene deblurring is a difficult low-level vision problem induced by camera shaking, object motion, and other causes. Since the blur movements of moving objects and the backdrop in dynamic scenarios are different, segmentation of the motion blur is necessary for deblurring each blur motion precisely. In contrast to this limiting assumption, we tackle the issue of deblurring broad dynamic images with many moving objects and camera motion in the current study. A multilayer convolutional neural network (CNN) based video image deblurring technique is suggested as a solution to the issue that inter-frame information and spatiotemporal are easily lost during restoration of a digital video/image that has become blurred. We use the multiscale CNN-built adaptive Laplacian regularisation term to the problem of restoring images from videos. First, we provide a new restoration model by mixing several regularises, in particular by combining NLM regularise with the multiscale CNN, to extract redundant information from video images’ self-similarity. We utilised a basic gradient descent technique to solve the model for restoring images from videos. The experimental findings demonstrate the effective deblurring effect and some noise resilience of our approach.

Video tutorials are teaching media that can facilitate student learning activities because of their effectiveness and efficiency. The research has the following objectives: 1). the feasibility level of digital motif design video tutorials 2). student learning outcomes after being shown a video tutorial on designing digital motifs. The study employs the ADDIE R&D (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) research approach, utilising a one-shot case study research design. The study was conducted from May to November 2023. the study involved 32 students from Clothing Class 1 at SMKN 8 Surabaya. These six students participated in a limited trial. The research also involved two media experts from Surabaya State University and two material experts from SMKN 8 Surabaya lecturers. Collection methods include level evaluation processes such as video tutorials and assignment grading. The form of conformity evaluation of assignment sheets and learning videos serves as a research tool. Using a descriptive data analysis method, the average effectiveness of learning video services and categorise the learning outcomes based on CTF. Results of this study stated: 1. The development of video tutorials for designing digital motifs was declared feasible to implement with a total score of 4.6. The average score of material experts is 4.4, and media experts 4.8 2. Based on the results of class tests, we can resolve using video tutorial media to create digital motif designs as learning.

This study delves into the intricate relationship between thumbnail design and video success, focusing on the Chinese UGC platform RED. Specifically, the research examines the thumbnails of @Amber Lulu, a vlogger with a consistent style of video and thumbnails. Analyzing a data sample of 30 videos within the "day in my life vlog" category, the study categorizes thumbnails based on three design elements: emphasis on one person vs. a group, two lines of title vs. one line, and a close vs. far background. The results reveal significant correlations between thumbnail design and video metrics, notably emphasizing the positive impact of a distant background, an emphasis on one person, and the use of two lines of heading. Drawing from communication theories such as visual hierarchy, cognitive load theory, and the effect of image characteristics, the study provides valuable insights for content creators seeking to optimize their thumbnails for increased engagement. This research contributes to a nuanced understanding of the role thumbnails play in viewer engagement on UGC platforms, offering practical advice for content creators to design more visually appealing thumbnails for their videos.

This paper designs a multifunctional video switching matrix, which can realize 16-channel HDMI and VGA video signal input and 8-channel HDMI and VGA video signal output function. It can meet the complex scenes of HDMI and VGA integrated video input and output. This design realizes the conversion of input and output video formats through the front-end HDMI to VGA unit and the back-end VGA to HDMI unit. The middle RGB switching matrix is used to realize 16 input and 8 output selection of VGA video signal. It realizes the fusion of multi-channel dual-standard video switching. This study was conducted in order to examine the process by which teachers designed a website. For this purpose, www.weebly.com, which is used as a website building tool, was selected and teachers were given tasks for web designing. Experiments were designed differently for experiment and control groups. Before performing the tasks, an introduction video was shown to the experiment group. Then, interview questions about the contribution of introduction videos and usability of website were asked. According to the results, the group that watched the introduction video completed the tasks in a shorter time than the group who did not watch the videos. At the same time, the group who watched introduction videos before using the site was able to complete more tasks than the group that did not watch the videos. These results show that the use of introduction videos as a navigation facilitator enhances the usability.Keywords: Website design experience, teacher education, usability, eye tracking.*

Анотація:
The purpose of this study is to design music video making classes in secondary music and creative areas based on backword design. To this end, McTai and Wiggins' backword design techniques were reviewed according to the literature research method, and based on this, a three-step procedure was devised to make music videos in the creative area for secondary learners. The implications of this study are as follows. First, it is possible to secure the essence of important music curriculum content that can be hidden by video production activities. Second, evaluation criteria are clearly set even in situations where creative areas and media utilization are mixed. Third, the nature of process-oriented evaluation is very prominent. Fourth, for the purpose of achieving and transferring learners, consideration of evaluation evidence, that is, the results of activities, is conducted in various ways in depth. Finally, in establishing a 'goal-evaluation-activity plan', the organicity of each stage is strengthened and integration is possible. It is hoped that this study will be of methodological help to music creation classes using media.

Video materials belong to the most powerful tools in educational process because they provide learners simultaneously with auditory and visual information. Thus, according to the Edgar Dale’s cone of learning they are more effective than classical classroom lectures, reading textbooks or listening to podcasts. Moreover, video as a part of a learning routine appeals better to modern students who are used to gaining knowledge from digital sources. The article presents data on video materials implementation into an electronic learning course (ELC) of a university both as a part of distant learning system and for providing information for flipped learning process. In addition, the question of using videos in the classroom is given attention. The article also deals with peculiarities of educational video design considering psychological features and studying patterns of modern students who mainly belong to z-generation. That is why microlearning is considered as a successful distant learning implementation method for the above mentioned purposes. Video materials for microlearning should not be more than 15 minutes long, should have clearly structured information and involve student into the learning process. There are different types of videos used in ELC such as introductory videos, video lectures, video instructions, additional materials videos, interactive videos. In spite of variety of the content all types of video materials undergo the same design procedure with the following steps: splitting materials into logically completed parts, defining notions, writing meaningful questions, structuring components of the video etc. Designing a video for an electronic learning course must be a carefully planned process to ensure high quality of a finished product. Preceding and following activities also have to be designed to receive maximum outcome from the course.

We present a method that decomposes, and "unwraps", an input video into a set of layered 2D atlases , each providing a unified representation of the appearance of an object (or background) over the video. For each pixel in the video, our method estimates its corresponding 2D coordinate in each of the atlases, giving us a consistent parameterization of the video, along with an associated alpha (opacity) value. Importantly, we design our atlases to be interpretable and semantic, which facilitates easy and intuitive editing in the atlas domain, with minimal manual work required. Edits applied to a single 2D atlas (or input video frame) are automatically and consistently mapped back to the original video frames, while preserving occlusions, deformation, and other complex scene effects such as shadows and reflections. Our method employs a coordinate-based Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) representation for mappings, atlases, and alphas, which are jointly optimized on a per-video basis, using a combination of video reconstruction and regularization losses. By operating purely in 2D, our method does not require any prior 3D knowledge about scene geometry or camera poses, and can handle complex dynamic real world videos. We demonstrate various video editing applications, including texture mapping, video style transfer, image-to-video texture transfer, and segmentation/labeling propagation, all automatically produced by editing a single 2D atlas image.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the benefits of Ad-Video and Product-Video congruity for embedded online video advertising. A conceptual model is constructed to test how congruity between online advertisements, advertised products and online videos impact consumer post-viewing attitudes via processing fluency. Design/methodology/approach An online experiment with eight versions of mock video sections (with embedded online video advertisements) was conducted. The study is a 2 (type of appeal: informational vs emotional) × 2 (Ad-Video congruity: congruent vs incongruent) × 2 (Product-Video congruity: congruent vs incongruent) full-factorial between-subject design. A total of 252 valid responses were collected for data analysis. Findings Results show that congruity is related to the improvement of processing fluency only for informational ads/videos. The positive effect of Ad-Video congruity on processing fluency is only significant for informational appeals but not emotional appeal. Similarly, the positive effects of Product-Video congruity on processing fluency are only significant for informational appeals but not emotional appeal. Involvement has been found to be positively related to processing fluency too. Processing fluency has a positive impact on the attitudes toward the ads, advertised products and videos. Research limitations/implications The finding that congruity is related to the improvement of processing fluency only for informational ads/videos extends the existing literature by identifying the type of appeal as a boundary condition. Practical implications Both brand managers and online video platform owners should monitor and operationalize the content and appeal congruity, especially for informational ads on a large scale to improve consumers’ responses. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first paper to examine the effects of Ad-Video and Product-Video congruity of embedded advertisements on video sharing platforms. The findings of this study add to the literature on congruity and processing fluency.
