An efficient orthogonal array was constructed with near balance and near the orthogonal property for the lowest common multiples of runs, using the balance coefficient criteria for determining near balance and J2 optimality criteria for orthogonal properties. The optimization and distance function forms of balance coefficient criteria were used for the classification of the designs. The Minimum Moment Aberration (MMA) and Minimum Aberration Projection (MAP) are compared using the optimization and distance function to determine the near balance criteria. The result indicated that, the MMA and MAP criteria was efficient using the optimization procedure of the balance coefficient.

O dimensionamento de redes de distribuição de água (RDAs) é feito para que as restrições operacionais de velo- cidade e pressão se mantenham dentro de limites que garantam a eficiência operacional. Assim, buscam-se as tubulações de menor custo para que essas condições sejam satisfeitas. Entretanto, ao adotar essa prática, ou- tras características da rede podem ser afetadas negativamente, como sua resiliência e capacidade de expansão. Dessa forma, este trabalho apresenta um estudo de caso em que a análise multicriterial é utilizada para realizar o dimensionamento de uma RDA. Primeiramente, um mapa cognitivo é feito para identificar os principais cri- térios a serem considerados na solução do problema. Em seguida, o método Delphi é usado em conjunto com o Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) para determinar os pesos relativos de cada critério. Por fim, três diferentes métodos de análise multicritérios são utilizados para a solução do problema: AHP, Electre e Promethee. Palavras-chave: Rede de distribuição. Otimização. Análise multicritério. Abstract The design of water distribution networks (WDNs) is made to match velocity and pressure constraints that guaran- tee operational efficiency. Thus, pipes with lower cost are selected to attend these conditions. However, this proce- dure can harm other characteristics of the network, as for example its resilience and expansion capacity. Therefore, this paper presents a case study in which the multicriterial analysis is used to design a WDN. First, a cognitive map is built to identify the main criteria to be considered during the design process. Then, the Delphi method is used jointly with the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to define the relative weights of each criteria. Finally, three different methods for multicriterial analysis are used to solve the problem: AHP, Electre and Promethee. Keywords: Water distribution network. Optimization. Multicriterial analysis.

This study aims to determine of the influence the exxent of the influence of product attributes which include (brand, proce, quality and design) on the decisions to purchase Asus brand laptops for students of the Facultyof Economics and Bussines, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar (a case study majoring, class of 2017). The type of research used with a quantitative approach. The data obtained is the result of the respondent’s interpretation studens majoring in management class 2017 as many 84 respondents. The analysis technique used in the study uses an interactive model with respondens , where the respondent’s interpretation data is then regulated by using data analysis tecniques in this case SPSS. Based on The research result obtained from processed data are that all design variabels have a more significant influence than all product attribute variabels, this is due to the regression equetion test the design variable value is greater and the averall variable value for marketing strategy.

Abstract The paper presents mathematical relationships that allow us to forecast the newbuilding price of new bulk carriers, based on data concerning vessels built in 2005-2015. The presented approximations allow us to estimate the price based on a gross tonnage capacity and a main engine power The approximations were developed using linear regression and the theory of artificial neural networks. The presented relations have practical application for estimation of bulk carrier newbuilding price needed in preliminary parametric design of the ship. It follows from the above that the use of artificial neural networks to predict the price of a bulk carrier brings more accurate solutions than linear regression.

An experiment has been carried out utilizing the activated carbon granules as an adsorbent indige-nously developed from coconut shell and carbon dioxide gas as an adsorbate in a small experimental chamber, specially designed for this purpose. Adsorption followed by removal of heat of adsorp-tion and subsequent desorption produces refrigera-tion. After a few cycles in the chamber, tempera-tures drop from 304 K to 282.5 K. Therefore, con-tinuous production of refrigeration could be achieved by a suitable mechanism. The paper describes the details of the design and fabrication of the experimental chamber, the experimental proce-dure and discusses the results obtained to assess its feasibility towards development of an alternative eco friendly refrigeration cycle for replacement of chlorofluorocarbons.

75% to 80% of the mobile robots cost is determined by product design. Under normal circumstances, the quoted price of the product design is about 12% to 15% mobile robots price during the current market quoted price. The costs and the cost difference between virtual and traditional mobile robots design can be compared quantitatively by fuzzy evaluation using the product design cost function. The quantitative comparison results according to the mobile robots design showed that virtual design costs were significantly lower than traditional designs costs.

This study aims to develop an efficient planning concept for office space by a projected organisation of social space. The article shows a principle of developing the functional design of an architectural structure and methods of its subsequent assessment. The study was carried out using the example of a section under reconstruction in an industrial building for the functions of a co-working centre. The methods included analysis and acquisition of data on the design of co-working centres with the subse-quent topological analysis of references. This allowed the structure of connections between the ele-ments allocated in space and the functional content of the room to be determined. Based on the ob-tained data, the options for design solutions targeting an office building were formed. For their analy-sis, the tools of space syntax were applied. To visualise the efficiency of the "work" and "rest" pro-cesses, comparative graphs of their behaviour were built, as well as a scheme for evacuation proce-dures. These graphs were used to compile the most effective design concepts. Tracing user routes through human flow simulations revealed vulnerabilities in supply chains and the structure of the ongo-ing social process. The graphs exhibited multiple peak values, meaning that necessary functional zones are missing. After eliminating these vulnerabilities, the built graphs of the key process show an increase of 17% in the level of social efficiency. The evacuation procedures also showed the efficien-cy of the developed layout concepts in reducing the total time for evacuating users. The most effective solution was to locate recreation areas with high attendance in the most accessible places in the framework of an architectural structure.

Development of regulatory energy characteristics of TPP equipment is a mandatory and resource-intensive proce-dure. A mathematical model of the turbine plant (the turbine plant itself and its regenerative feed water heating system) was developed earlier based on the matrix formalization of calculations of the energy and mass exchange installations. The analysis of the modeling results has shown that the model adequately de-scribes the real characteristics of a turbine plant only at low bleeding load. At higher load, the accuracy of description is much lower and the model cannot be used for practical analysis of real equipment. All this means that the turbine model needs to be refined by introducing stage-dependent efficiency indicators for more accurate determination of the equipment energy characteristics and, based on them, developing of computer aided methods for optimizing regimes of technological systems and sub-systems of thermal power plants. Methods of mathematical programming were used to investigate the multi-flow heat and mass exchange systems and sub-systems of thermal power plants on the basis of heat and mass balance equations. The energy characteristics and efficiency indicators of TPP equipment were determined in accordance with the existing normative approach. The turbine plant model has been refined by the matrix formalization method by introducing stage-dependent efficiency indicators. Model solutions have been obtained and analysed in order to calculate energy characteristics of the combined cycle turbine plant. The calculaiton results have been compared with the energy characteristics of a turbine unit in operation. It has been shown that the proposed approach is reliable and reasonable. The obtained results can be used for increasing the validity degree of equipment energy characteristics calculation, creating computer simulators and software tools for optimizing modes of technological systems and subsystems of heat power plants.

The lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-triggered coagulation cascade in horseshoe crabs comprises three protease zymogens: prochelicerase C (proC), prochelicerase B (proB), and the proclotting enzyme (proCE). The presence of LPS results in autocatalytic activation of proC to α-chelicerase C, which, in turn, activates proB to chelicerase B, converting proCE to the clotting enzyme (CE). ProB and proCE contain an N-terminal clip domain, but the roles of these domains in this coagulation cascade remain unknown. Here, using recombinant proteins and kinetics and binding assays, we found that five basic residues in the clip domain of proB are required to maintain its LPS-binding activity and activation by α-chelicerase C. Moreover, an amino acid substitution at a potential hydrophobic cavity in proB's clip domain (V55A-proB) reduced both its LPS-binding activity and activation rate. WT proCE exhibited no LPS-binding activity, and the WT chelicerase B-mediated activation of a proCE variant with a substitution at a potential hydrophobic cavity (V53A-proCE) was ∼4-fold slower than that of WT proCE. The kcat/Km value of the interaction of WT chelicerase B with V53A-proCE was 7-fold lower than that of the WT chelicerase B-WT proCE interaction. The enzymatic activities of V55A-chelicerase B and V53A-CE against specific peptide substrates were indistinguishable from those of the corresponding WT proteases. In conclusion, the clip domain of proB recruits it to a reaction center composed of α-chelicerase C and LPS, where α-chelicerase C is ready to activate proB, leading to chelicerase B–mediated activation of proCE via its clip domain.

Most assets clear independently rather than jointly. This paper presents a model based on the uniform‐price double auction which accommodates arbitrary restrictions on market clearing, including independent clearing across assets (allowed when demand for each asset is contingent only on the price of that asset) and joint market clearing for all assets (required when demand for each asset is contingent on the prices of all assets). Additional trading protocols for traded assets—neutral when the market clears jointly—are generally not redundant innovations, even if all traders participate in all protocols. Multiple trading protocols that clear independently can be designed to be at least as efficient as joint market clearing for all assets. The change in price impact brought by independence in market clearing can overcome the loss of information, and enhance diversification and risk sharing. Except when the market is competitive, market characteristics should guide innovation in trading technology.

The paper presents an approach concerning the CMM design. The first stage of this research deals with the acquisition and the development of knowledge about the CMM design. The main mechanical design aspects to achieve a high positioning and measuring accuracy are presented and two main objectives are assigned: high repeatability (design for repeatability) and high predictability of the machine response to the main error sources (design for predictability). In the second stage of this research the dynamic errors states for this CMM design have been analyzed. In high-speed measuring processes dynamic errors will have a great influence on the accuracy. This study has been performed by using finite-element analysis (FEA) of the mechanical frame. The total deformation of the mechanical frame for different accelerations of the moving assemblies has been calculated. The major deflections at the probe position due to the accelerations are obtained by using FEA. These results give a prediction about the dynamic error of the CMM.

A data buyer faces a decision problem under uncertainty. He can augment his initial private information with supplemental data from a data seller. His willingness to pay for supplemental data is determined by the quality of his initial private information. The data seller optimally offers a menu of statistical experiments. We establish the properties that any revenue-maximizing menu of experiments must satisfy. Every experiment is a non-dispersed stochastic matrix, and every menu contains a fully informative experiment. With advances in genomics and proteomics and underlying mechanisms of disease pathology, the number of targets identified has significantly outpaced the number of developed molecular imaging probes. There has been a concerted effort to bridge this gap with multidisciplinary efforts in chemistry, proteomics, physics, material science, and biology—all essential to progress in molecular imaging probe development. In this review, we discuss target selection, screening techniques, and probe optimization with the aim of developing clinically relevant molecularly targeted imaging agents.

The change towards a more human-centered design has gained popularity among many businesses. The concept is to create stronger emotional connections with customers which currently become dominant in consumer arenas. By evoking valued meanings through their products, services, and multidimensional customer experiences, companies are then able to create more value and achieve strategic advantages over their competitors. In any given case, the design is asked to influence, not just the look and feel of things, but also the quality of user experience that people have through the power of design in creating a tangible expression. As designers, we are now challenged to help companies explore and visualize directions for their future offering. This article aims to review the many definitions of experience, understanding the process of experiencing, and analyzing the role and optimizing development of experience design in marketing and business perspectives.

Due to the electric commodity has universal service obligation, the existence of cross subsidy is reasonable. But as the resident demand increasing highly, the range of cross subsidy is expanding which result in unfairness between different residents. In order to encourage residents using electricity reasonably, frugally, fairly and environment-friendly, appropriate method should be implemented as a guide. The paper discusses the necessity of the stepped increasing electricity price and suggests a new idea that retain the peak-valley price while implement the step price. According to analysis, the model can not only recover the distribution company costs but also effectively play the electricity price adjustment demand leverage, which greatly promote the energy conservation, environmental protection and social harmony.

ABSTRACT Criteria for the design of gene-specific and group-specific oligonucleotide probes were established experimentally via an oligonucleotide array that contained perfect match (PM) and mismatch probes (50-mers and 70-mers) based upon four genes. The effects of probe-target identity, continuous stretch, mismatch position, and hybridization free energy on specificity were tested. Little hybridization was observed at a probe-target identity of ≤85% for both 50-mer and 70-mer probes. PM signal intensities (33 to 48%) were detected at a probe-target identity of 94% for 50-mer oligonucleotides and 43 to 55% for 70-mer probes at a probe-target identity of 96%. When the effects of sequence identity and continuous stretch were considered independently, a stretch probe (>15 bases) contributed an additional 9% of the PM signal intensity compared to a nonstretch probe (≤15 bases) at the same identity level. Cross-hybridization increased as the length of continuous stretch increased. A 35-base stretch for 50-mer probes or a 50-base stretch for 70-mer probes had approximately 55% of the PM signal. Little cross-hybridization was observed for probes with a minimal binding free energy greater than −30 kcal/mol for 50-mer probes or −40 kcal/mol for 70-mer probes. Based on the experimental results, a set of criteria are suggested for the design of gene-specific and group-specific oligonucleotide probes, and the experimentally established criteria should provide valuable information for new software and algorithms for microarray-based studies.

We examine an option contract from a supplier’s perspective and apply mean-variance method to analyze the supplier’s risk. Compared with the newsvendor model without an option contract, we theoretically prove that the option contract can also benefit the supplier. We find for a given option exercise price, there exists an option price such that the contract with the option price dominates those with smaller option price in terms of mean variance of the supplier’s profit. Computational studies have also been conducted in the paper.

The variables of price, brand name and ‘priming designer’ are shown to shift preferences. Without brand names, consumers prefer a well-designed object. When supplied with information about brand names and designer, they may shift their preferences to designs they believe are ‘designer’ brands, even when the actual design is not.

Metal detector is used more and more widely in the modern social life, it acquires much attention because of its powerful detection capabilities. This article introduces the design and implementation of an intelligent metal detector which is based on TMS320LF-2407.Adopt giant magneto resistive (GMR) sensor with the type of AA006-02. Describe the hardware component, software design, working principle and main functions of the system in detail. The core of the whole contains the probe design and control circuits. The probe: oscillator circuit is constituted by the 555 timer, it provide the sine wave signal for the coil. The control circuits: the signal which is collect by the GMR sensor is processed by voltage amplifier and filtering circuit, the peak detection circuit and A / D conversion, The signal can accurately reflect the characteristic parameters of the received signal, stability, and can eliminate interference.Practice shows that this metal detector with the method can greatly reduce the malfunction rate on the base of meeting the sensitivity.
