Objective: Comparison between conventional triple regime and sequential regime in controlling of Helicobacter Pylori. Material and Methods: The study was conducted at Medical OPD MH Rawalpindi for six months. The consecutive (nonprobability sampling) technique was used. All patients fulfilling inclusion criteria and diagnosed according to operational definition of Helicobacter Pylori infection were selected. All the information was entered, assessed and results were obtained through SPSS. Results: According to our study the cases mean age was 36.23±10.87 years, ratio between male, female was 1.07:1. overall efficacy achieved in 289 (67.21%) patient (124 in set A and 165 in set B). So according to results sequential therapy has got much higher results as compared to triple therapy group. Conclusion: It has been proved in our study that the sequential regime has got significantly better results than conventional triple regime in the management of Helicobacter Pylori eradication

In general, there is stress sensitivity damage in tight reservoirs and fractures. Furthermore, the flow in tight reservoirs is the low-velocity non-Darcy flow. Currently, few researches of pressure analysis for volume fracturing vertical well are conducted simultaneously considering the low-velocity non-Darcy flow and stress sensitivity. In the paper, a novel flow model of a volume fractured vertical well is proposed and solved numerically. Firstly, the threshold pressure gradient, permeability modulus, and experimental data are, respectively, utilized to characterize the low-velocity non-Darcy flow, matrix stress sensitivity, and fracture stress sensitivity. Then, a two-region composite reservoir is established to simulate the vertical well with volume fracturing. After that, the logarithm meshing method is used to discrete the composite reservoir, and the flow model is solved by the method of finite difference and IMPES. Finally, the model verification is conducted, and the effects of the low-velocity non-Darcy flow and stress sensitivity on the pressure and pressure derivative are analyzed. The six flow regimes are identified by the dimensionless pressure and pressure derivative curve. They are, respectively, the fracture linear flow regime, early transition flow regime, radial flow regime, crossflow regime, advanced transition flow regime, and boundary controlling flow regime. The stress sensitivity and threshold pressure gradient have a great effect on the dimensionless pressure and pressure derivative. With the increase of reservoir stress sensitivity, the pressure and pressure derivative are upward at the advanced transition flow and boundary controlling regimes. However, the pressure and pressure derivative are downward at the advanced transition flow and boundary controlling regimes when the fracture sensitivity increases. An increase in the threshold pressure gradient results in a high dimensionless pressure and pressure derivative. This work reveals the effects of low-velocity non-Darcy flow and stress sensitivity on pressure and provides a more accurate reference for reservoir engineers in pressure analysis when developing a tight reservoir by using the volume fracturing vertical well.

Today, the nuclear regime is widely perceived to be in crisis. While part of this crisis has to do with direct challenges to the regime posed by the illicit nuclear programs of North Korea and Iran, from the perspective of much of the developing world, the issues facing the nonproliferation regime are overwhelmingly about the justice and fairness of the regime's norms, rules, and procedures. Indeed, it is difficult to identify a security regime today where equity issues are more central to debates about its future than the nuclear nonproliferation regime. Of the three regimes for controlling weapons of mass destruction (chemical, biological, and nuclear), it is in the nuclear regime that issues of justice and fairness appear most critical to long-term sustainability and viability.

We investigate analytically and numerically a nonfeedback control technique for spatially extended systems. The method is suited for systems where some parameters can be modified. We apply the control scheme to a model used to describe vectorial transverse pattern formation in nonlinear optical systems, the Vector Complex Ginzburg–Landau Equation (VCGLE). Our scheme stabilizes a periodic regime where otherwise a chaotic regime is observed. We confirm by analytical calculation and direct simulation how this scheme, based in the use of a nonlinear diffraction term, stabilizes unstable polarized standing waves and linearly polarized traveling waves in a chaotic scenery.

The importance of multiple processes and instream factors to aquatic biota has been explored extensively, but questions remain about how local spatiotemporal variability of aquatic biota is tied to environmental regimes and the geophysical template of streams. We used an individual-based trout model to explore the relative role of the geophysical template versus environmental regimes on biomass of trout (Oncorhynchus clarkii clarkii). We parameterized the model with observed data from each of the four headwater streams (their local geophysical template and environmental regime) and then ran 12 simulations where we replaced environmental regimes (stream temperature, flow, turbidity) of a given stream with values from each neighboring stream while keeping the geophysical template fixed. We also performed single-parameter sensitivity analyses on the model results from each of the four streams. Although our modeled findings show that trout biomass is most responsive to changes in the geophysical template of streams, they also reveal that biomass is restricted by available habitat during seasonal low flow, which is a product of both the stream’s geophysical template and flow regime. Our modeled results suggest that differences in the geophysical template among streams render trout more or less sensitive to environmental change, emphasizing the importance of local fish–habitat relationships in streams.

This article studies trade unions’ response to transnational change in a large multinational corporation within the motor industry in Europe. We show how the use of the European Works Councils (EWCs) as a forum for European negotiation did not counter the management’s effort to whipsaw trade unions, such as to play off workers against each other in local negotiations. This seems to suggest that the effort to network and coordinate between employee representatives, and to negotiate with management through ‘active’ EWCs is ineffective at controlling inter-union competition in cases of transnational restructuring. Hence, research outcomes illustrate that an analysis of the impact of European-level agreements on plant level is requested in order to assess the effectiveness of ‘active’ EWCs in forging cross-national links.

Mechanical face seals are usually described as contacting seals because their faces are in partial contact during static conditions. However, many experiments demonstrated that this contact is not maintained during operation. Indeed a full fluid film can separate the seal surfaces leading to lower friction and wear. In this paper, the mechanisms of lubrication taking place at the seal interface are reviewed and analyzed through simulations and experiments. It is shown that several lubrication regimes can be experienced, depending on the operating conditions and on the seal design. At low speed values the lubrication regime is mixed and turns to hydrodynamic lubrication regime when the speed is increased. At higher rotation velocity, the dissipated power generates thermal gradients and leads to thermally controlled lubrication regime. The transition between the lubrication regimes is also discussed and dimensionless parameters controlling the transition are proposed.

SYNOPSIS This study examines the association between mandatory financial reporting frequency and the accrual anomaly. Based on regulatory changes in reporting frequency requirements in Taiwan, we divide our sample period into three reporting regimes: a semiannual reporting regime from 1982 to 1985, a quarterly reporting regime from 1986 to 1987, and a monthly reporting regime (both quarterly financial reports and monthly revenue disclosure) from 1988 to 1993. We find that although both switches (from the semiannual reporting regime to the quarterly reporting regime and from the quarterly reporting regime to the monthly reporting regime) hasten the dissemination of the information contained in annual accruals into stock prices and reduce annual accrual mispricing, the switch to monthly reporting has a lesser effect. Our results are robust to controlling for risk factors, transaction costs, and potential changes in accrual, cash flow persistence, and sample composition over time. These results imply that more frequent reporting is one possible mechanism to reduce accrual mispricing. JEL Classifications: G14; L51; M41; M48. In this letter controlling of chaos in Bonhoeffer-van der Pol oscillator is investigated using various different control algorithms. Specifically, using an adaptive control algorithm we analyse the resetting of the system dynamics from a chaotic attractor to a limit cycle attractor. We demonstrate that, starting from a chaotic regime, it is possible to bring the system to a regular regime by means of a small parametric perturbation as well as by the addition of a weak external force. It is then shown that one can eliminate chaotic evolution by stabilizing an unstable periodic orbit by making small adjustments to an external parameter. Finally, we show the suppression of chaos by adding appropriate external noise.

Criteria are proposed in the paper for evaluating the reactor regime (with endothermic reversible reaction, heated by radiation of combustion products) from thermodynamic and kinetic points of view. The limiting reactor regimes in which the controlling process is the process kinetics or the heat transfer are defined. The effect of the catalyst activity on the reactor output and the surface temperature of the reaction tube and the effect of heat input power of the reactor radiation section on the conversion and the surface temperature of the tube are discussed. The results are verified on a simplified mathematical model of steam reforming and employed to discuss the selection of the regime of an industrial reactor.

ABSTRACT Introduction Eclampsia is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality. Magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) can be a drug for its management. Objectives To study the safety and efficacy of low-dose MgSO4 for control of convulsions in case of eclampsia and to compare it with Pritchard regimen in terms of its effects and perinatal outcome. Materials and methods This study was conducted in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. It was a prospective study and included 78 cases of eclampsia. Thirty-nine cases were given low-dose regime and remaining 39 were given Pritchard regimen. Low-dose regime for eclampsia: Loading dose 4 gm MgSO4 IV diluted in 20 cc of 5% dextrose, slowly over 5 to 8 minutes. Maintenance dose 2 gm IV similarly diluted was given 3 hourly till 24 hours after delivery or after convulsion which ever was later. If recurrence of convulsions occurs, then additional dose 2 gm IV was given and previous dose schedule continued as such. Results Eclamptic convulsions were controlled in 94.87% of cases with low-dose regime, and in the remaining cases were controlled with additional 2 gm IV dose MgSO4 compared to 37.14% with Pritchard regimen. Conclusion Low-dose magnesium regime is highly suitable for women in our setup, and it is as effective as Pritchard regimen for controlling convulsions in eclampsia along with better perinatal outcome and with less MgSO4 toxicity. Abstract. Moisture, temperature and precipitation interplay forced through the orographic processes sustains the Himalayan cryospheric system. However, factors controlling the Slope Environmental Lapse Rate (SELR) of temperature along the higher Himalayan mountain slopes across various glacio-hydrologic regimes remain as a key knowledge gap. Present study dwells on the orographic processes driving the moisture–temperature interplay in the monsoon and cold-arid glacio-hydrological regimes of the Himalaya. Systematic data collection at three altitudes between 2540 and 3763 m a.s.l. in the Garhwal Himalaya (hereafter called monsoon regime) and between 3500 and 5600 m a.s.l. in the Ladakh Himalaya (herefater called cold-arid regime) revealed moistrue control on temperature distribution at temporal and spatial scales. Observed daily SELR of temperature ranges between 9.0 to 1.9 °C km−1 and 17.0 to 2.8 °C km−1 in the monsoon and cold-arid regimes respectively highlighting strong regional variability. Moisture influx to the region, either from Indian summer monsoon (ISM) or from Indian winter monsoon (IWM) forced lowering of SELR. This phenophena of "monsoon lowering" of SELR is due to the release latent heat of condensation from orographically focred lifted air parcel. Seasonal response of SELR in the monsoon regime is found to be closly linked with the variations in the local lifting condensation levels (LCL). Contrary to this, cold-arid system is characterised by the extremely high values of daily SELR upto 17 °C km−1 signifying the extremely arid conditions prevailing in summer. Distinctly lower SELR devoid of monsoon lowering at higher altitude sections of monsoon and cold-arid regimes suggests sustained wetter high altitude regimes. We have proposed a SELR model for both glacio-hydrological regimes demostrating with two sections each using a derivative of the Clausius–Clapeyron relationship by deriving monthly SELR indices. It has been proposed that the manifestations of presence or absence of moisture is the single most important factor determining the temperature distribution along the higher Himalayan slopes driven by the orographic forcings. This work also suggests that the arbitary use of temperature lapse rate to extrapolate temperature to the higher Himalaya is extremely untenable.

This work presents a numerical simulation performed to study the effect of Reynolds number (Re = 80–200) on fluid flow over a square rod attached to two small controlling rods using the Lattice Boltzmann method. For this reason, the spacing ratio between the control rods and main rod varies systematically from g = 0.5–5. Flow has been subdivided into three flow regimes based on spacing ratios. The first flow regime is considered at a small gap (g = 0.5, 1, and 1.5), the second flow regime is obtained at a moderate gap (g = 2, 2.5, and 3), and the third flow regime is considered a at large gap (g = 4–5). Five different types of flow modes were noticed in the given flow regimes. The values Re = 200 and g = 5 were found to be critical due to a sudden change in flow characteristics. The maximum value of Cdmean is 0.869 and the largest percent reduction (65.15%) in the mean drag coefficient was found at Re = 200 and g = 2.

What is the effect of regime type on public expenditures for social programs? We investigate the relationship between democracy and the change in social spending—controlling for GDP, the debt, inflation, and age structure of the population—through a time-series cross-sectional panel data set for 17 Latin American countries from 1980 to 1992. The results show that, especially in poor countries during economic crisis, democracies increase the allocation of resources to social programs relative to authoritarian regimes. This suggests that the latter are more constrained by economic forces, whereas democracies are more constrained by popular demands. Hence, calls to abandon broad categorizations of regime type appear to be premature: Democracy can matter in systematic and substantial ways.

We construct metamaterials from sub-wavelength nonmagnetic resonators and consider the refraction of incoming signals traveling from free space into the metamaterial. We show that the direction of the transmitted signal is a function of its center frequency and bandwidth. The directionality of the transmitted signal and its frequency dependence is shown to be explicitly controlled by sub-wavelength resonances that can be calculated from the geometry of the sub-wavelength scatters. We outline how to construct a medium with both positive and negative index properties across different frequency bands in the near infrared and optical regime.

Abstract Tropical canopies are complex, with multiple canopy layers and pronounced gap dynamics contributing to their high species diversity and productivity. An important reason for this complexity is the large variation in shade tolerance among different tree species. At present, we lack a clear understanding of which plant traits control this variation, e.g., regarding the relative contributions of whole-plant versus leaf traits or structural versus physiological traits. We investigated a broad range of traits in six tropical montane rainforest tree species with different degrees of shade tolerance, grown under three different radiation regimes (under the open sky or beneath sparse or dense canopies). The two distinct shade-tolerant species had higher fractional biomass in leaves and branches while shade-intolerant species invested more into stems, and these differences were greater under low radiation. Leaf respiration and photosynthetic light compensation point did not vary with species shade tolerance, regardless of radiation regime. Leaf temperatures in open plots were markedly higher in shade-tolerant species due to their low transpiration rates and large leaf sizes. Our results suggest that interspecific variation in shade tolerance of tropical montane trees is controlled by species differences in whole-plant biomass allocation strategy rather than by difference in physiological leaf traits determining leaf carbon balance at low radiation.

Conditional symmetry is known as a new regime for providing coexisting duplicate oscillations with opposite polarity. Polarity balance can be obtained from a function for hosting conditional symmetry. In this paper, new cases of chaotic systems with conditional symmetry are coined from 1D and 2D offset boosting based on a suitable polarity adjustment. Conditional symmetric attractors are controlled effectively by a simple absolute value function, where the distance between two coexisting attractors of conditional symmetry is modified linearly by the offset boosting constant, meanwhile the size of the coexisting attractors gets controlled by the slope. Coexisting attractors of conditional symmetry are thereafter implemented based on the develop kit of STM32.

Background: Eclampsia is defined as the onset of convulsions or coma during pregnancy or in post-partum period in a patient who has signs and symptoms of pre-eclampsia. It is life threatening emergency that continues to be a major cause of serious maternal morbidity and mortality also along with high perinatal mortality and morbidity. The present study undertaken to determine the efficacy of low dose magnesium sulphate regime and Pritchard’s regime in controlling eclamptic convulsion and prevention of recurrence of convulsion.Methods: Out of total 60 patients enrolled in the study; 30 were given low dose magnesium sulphate regime and remaining 30 with Pritchard’s regime. Selection of patients was done with simple random sampling. Relevant history was obtained from the patient, if conscious, or from the relatives. Through clinical examination was done and blood samples were collected for investigations after securing IV line.Results: There was insignificant difference regarding type of eclampsia in both groups. Recurrence of convulsion in Pritchard’s regime group was 6.67% and in Low dose regime group found to be 10% but this was statistically insignificant. Total dose of magnesium sulphate required in Low dose regime group was less than that required for Pritchard’s regime.Conclusions: Low dose magnesium sulphate Regime proved equally effective as that of Pritchard’s regime in control of convulsion in spite of less amount of drug and comparatively low serum magnesium levels and hence there is hardly any fear of intoxicator.

The isothermal nucleation and crystallization kinetics of hydrothermally prepared monoclinic and tetragonal ZrO2 have been determined at various pH conditions. It is shown that monoclinic ZrO2 precipitates at low pH whereas at high pH tetragonal ZrO2 crystallizes from an amorphous zirconium (hydrous) oxide, Zr(OH)xOy, precursor. At intermediate pH conditions mixtures of the polymorphs are formed suggestive of kinetically competing particle formation mechanisms. The data are explained by the proposed existence of three controlling regimes for the formation of crystalline ZrO2: dissolution/precipitation at low pH, a solubility controlled regime at intermediate pH values, and a gel structure controlled regime at high pH. Apparent activation energies for the nucleation and crystallization of monoclinic and tetragonal ZrO2 formed under hydrothermal conditions are presented.

Stomatal conductance plays an important role in the heat avoidance mechanism of crop plants. Stomatal conductance in cotton is genetically determined and has been shown to be associated with heat resistance and higher yields. Experiments were carried out with six generations (parental, F1, F2 and back crosses) of three upland cotton crosses under heat-stressed and non-stressed greenhouse and field regimes, to understand the inheritance pattern of stomatal conductance as affected by contrasting temperature regimes. The results revealed significant variation for stomatal conductance due to generations and generation×temperature regime interaction in the three crosses. In general, heat stress reduced stomatal conductance and available genetic variability. Temperature regimes exerted a significant effect on the expression of the genes responsible for stomatal conductance. High temperature or heat stress favoured the expression of genes having additive effects, while absence of heat stress favoured those having dominant effects in two of the three crosses evaluated. The third cross showed the opposite reaction. The results suggest that genes controlling stomatal conductance in the parents of the first two crosses (MNH-552, HR109-RT, CIM-448, CRIS-19) were different from those controlling stomatal conductance in FH-900 and N-Karishma, the parents of the third cross. The selection efficiency of stomatal conductance in segregating populations was likely to be affected by the complexity of its inheritance, environmental dependency, and presence of substantial non-allelic and genotype×temperature regime interactions.

Background: Eclampsia is one of the most common causes of maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity in India. Amongst the principles of management of eclampsia, the first is the control of convulsions. Magnesium sulphate is the main stay of treatment in eclampsia and imminent eclampsia. Average weight of Indian women is less than the western women due to which lower dose of magnesium sulphate can be used. The aim of the study was to compare the efficacy of low dose magnesium sulphate regimen with standard Pritchard regimen in control of eclampsia.Methods: The study was carried out at emergency labour room, GMERS Sola Civil Hospital Ahmedabad. 120 patients of eclampsia were divided randomly into study group (n=60) receiving low dose MgSO4 and control group (n=60) receiving Pritchard regimen. The recurrence of convulsion, toxicity of MgSO4 and maternal and fetal outcome was studied.Results: It was observed that with low dose MgSO4 regime, convulsions were controlled in 91.7% of the cases. With standard Pritchard’s regime convulsions were controlled in 95% of patients. The maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity were comparable in both groups.Conclusions: Low dose magnesium sulphate therapy is as effective as Pritchard’s regime for controlling convulsions in eclampsia and can be safely given in Indian women.

Two-fluid, three-dimensional, flux-driven, global, electromagnetic turbulence simulations carried out by using the GBS (Global Braginskii Solver) code are used to identify the main parameters controlling turbulent transport in the tokamak boundary and to delineate an electromagnetic phase space of edge turbulence. Four turbulent transport regimes are identified: (i) a regime of fully developed turbulence appearing at intermediate values of collisionality and β, with turbulence driven by resistive ballooning modes, related to the L-mode operation of tokamaks, (ii) a regime of reduced turbulent transport at low collisionality and large heat source, with turbulence driven by drift-waves, related to a high-density H-mode regime, (iii) a regime of extremely large turbulent transport at high collisionality, which is associated with the crossing of the density limit, and (iv) a regime above the ideal ballooning limit at high β, with global modes affecting the dynamics of the entire confined region, which can be associated with the crossing of the β limit. The transition from the reduced to the developed turbulent transport regime is associated here with the H-mode density limit, and an analytical scaling law for maximum edge density achievable in H-mode is obtained. Analogously, analytical scaling laws for the crossing of the L-mode density and β limits are provided and compared to the results of GBS simulations.

In the paper, we developed a discrete element model of adhesive interaction of materials with taking into account the “cold welding” effect. Based on this model, we carried out a detailed analysis of the factors controlling regimes of adhesive wear for elastic-plastic materials with non-ideal plasticity. We proposed an empirical criterion of transition from “breakaway” to “grinding” regime of wear. The extended form of the given criterion takes into account the dependence of material strength on hydrostatic pressure.

AbstractThe dynamics controlling the along-valley (cross shelf) flow in idealized shallow shelf valleys with small to moderate Burger number are investigated, and analytical scales of the along-valley flows are derived. This paper follows Part I, which shows that along-shelf winds in the opposite direction to coastal-trapped wave propagation (upwelling regime) force a strong up-valley flow caused by the formation of a lee wave. In contrast, along-shelf winds in the other direction (downwelling regime) do not generate a lee wave and consequently force a relatively weak net down-valley flow. The valley flows in both regimes are cyclostrophic with O(1) Rossby number. A major difference between the two regimes is the along-shelf length scales of the along-valley flows Lx. In the upwelling regime Lx depends on the valley width Wc and the wavelength λlw of the coastal-trapped lee wave arrested by the along-shelf flow Us. In the downwelling regime Lx depends on the inertial length scale |Us|/f and Wc. The along-valley velocity scale in the upwelling regime, given byis based on potential vorticity (PV) conservation and lee-wave dynamics (Hs and Hc are the shelf and valley depth scales, respectively, and f is the Coriolis parameter). The velocity scale in the downwelling regime, given by is based on PV conservation. The velocity scales are validated by the numerical sensitivity simulations and can be useful for observational studies of along-valley transports. The work provides a framework for investigating cross-shelf transport induced by irregular shelf bathymetry and calls for future studies of this type under realistic environmental conditions and over a broader parameter space.

The political regime in Iran is based on the unity of Islamic and republican principles. The religious elite exercise the monopoly power in the country, controlling the secular elective institutions. In this regard, the legitimation of the Supreme Leader, who has all the power in the country, is very important. US leaders and Iranian foreign opposition consistently criticize the Islamic regime, accusing it of massive repression of the opposition and of the inability to successfully rule the country. The Supreme Leader yet proves the necessity of his power by the statement that the regime created in Iran (being the best possible in the world, since it best corresponds to Islamic teachings) is a true democracy, unlike the regimes in the West, and can satisfy the essential needs of the Iranian people. He believes that if a secular regime is established in Iran under pressure from the West, the government will lose its Islamic essence, what will negatively affect the development of Iran and put it under the control of Western elites. Such a position of him is also supported by the people holding the highest secular and clerical offices in the country.

Mounting evidence in recent years suggests that astrocytes, a sub-type of glial cells, not only serve metabolic and structural support for neurons and synapses but also play critical roles in the regulation of proper functioning of the nervous system. In this work, we investigate the effect of astrocytes on the spontaneous firing activity of a neuron through a combined model that includes a neuron–astrocyte pair. First, we show that an astrocyte may provide a kind of multistability in neuron dynamics by inducing different firing modes such as random and bursty spiking. Then, we identify the underlying mechanism of this behavior and search for the astrocytic factors that may have regulatory roles in different firing regimes. More specifically, we explore how an astrocyte can participate in the occurrence and control of spontaneous irregular spiking activity of a neuron in random spiking mode. Additionally, we systematically investigate the bursty firing regime dynamics of the neuron under the variation of biophysical facts related to the intracellular environment of the astrocyte. It is found that an astrocyte coupled to a neuron can provide a control mechanism for both spontaneous firing irregularity and burst firing statistics, i.e., burst regularity and size.

This paper presents a classical approach to controlling the Lorenz equations, a well known chaotic system. It is shown that proportional-plus-integral control using an easily measurable state variable gives both good stability and tracking properties well into the normally chaotic region. Here the input signal to the Lorenz equations is the applied heat via the Rayleigh number. This paper demonstrates that widely used classical control approaches can stabilize a chaotic system and have it track input signals in its usually chaotic regime.

Ultrathin dielectric/insulating films on metals are often used as decoupling layers to allow for the study of the electronic properties of adsorbed molecules without electronic interference from the underlying metal substrate. However, the presence of such decoupling layers may effectively change the electron donating properties of the substrate, for example, by lowering its work function and thus enhancing the charging of the molecular adsorbate layer through electron tunneling. Here, an experimental study of the charging of para-sexiphenyl (6P) on ultrathin MgO(100) films supported on Ag(100) is reported. By deliberately changing the work function of the MgO(100)/Ag(100) system, it is shown that the charge transfer (electronic coupling) into the 6P molecules can be controlled, and 6P monolayers with uncharged molecules (Schottky–Mott regime) and charged and uncharged molecules (Fermi level pinning regime) can be obtained. Furthermore, it was found that charge transfer and temperature strongly influence the orientation, conformation, and wetting behavior (physical coupling) of the 6P layers on the MgO(100) thin films.

Biorational and synthetic organic insecticide application regimes were evaluated for management of key pests of broccoli in southern Texas. Broccoli plants were grown in small replicated plots and pests were managed either under a regime of synthetic organic insecticides or biorational techniques (Bacillus thuringiensis and/or fatty acid soap applications and inundative releases of Chrysoperla carnea). Effectiveness of treatments was evaluated by comparing insect populations and number of broccoli heads harvested from plots. The biorational and synthetic organic insecticides were equally effective in controlling lepidopterous pests but the biorational regime required a greater number of applications for effective control. Neither inundative releases of C. chrysoperla eggs and larvae nor applications of a fatty acid soap were effective in reducing aphid populations. Applications of synthetic organic insecticides were effective when applied solely for aphid control or as a control for lepidopterous larvae.

The prevention of hydrodynamic instabilities can lead to important insights for understanding the instabilities’ underlying dynamics. The Rayleigh-Taylor instability that arises when a dense fluid sinks into and displaces a lighter one is particularly difficult to arrest. By preparing a density inversion between two miscible fluids inside the thin gap separating two flat plates, we create a clean initial stationary interface. Under these conditions, we find that the instability is suppressed below a critical plate spacing. With increasing spacing, the system transitions from the limit of stability where mass diffusion dominates over buoyant forces, through a regime where the gap sets the wavelength of the instability, to the unconfined regime governed by the competition between buoyancy and momentum diffusion. Our study, including experiment, simulation, and linear stability analysis, characterizes all three regimes of confinement and opens new routes for controlling mixing processes.

Все реальные системы имеют нелинейный характер, обычные контроллеры не всегда могут дать хорошие и точные результаты. Нечёткий логический контроллер используется для получения лучшего отклика. Модель для моделирования разрабатывается, и все предположения делаются до разработки модели. Была сделана попытка проанализировать эффективность нечёткого регулятора по сравнению с традиционным ПИД-регулятором для системы управления температурным режимом колонны синтеза аммиака, и их результаты были сопоставлены. Анализ выполняется посредством компьютерного моделирования с использованием набора инструментов CoDeSys V2.3 и Matlab-Simulink. Это исследование показывает, что применение нечёткого логического контроллера дает лучший результат. All real systems are non-linear; conventional controllers cannot always give good and accurate results. The fuzzy logic controller is used to get the best response. The model for the simulation is developed and all assumptions are made before the model is developed. An attempt was made to analyze the effectiveness of a fuzzy controller versus a conventional PID controller for an ammonia synthesis tower temperature control system, and the results were compared. The analysis is performed by computer simulation using the CoDeSys V2.3 and Matlab-Simulink toolkit. This research shows that using a fuzzy logic controller gives better results.
