This thesis discusses the responsibility of content owners who re-upload videos on social media networks. This thesis is motivated by the large number of re-uploaders making content creators nervous because a content creator has made a video with great effort. Many YouTubers have appealed to "against" re-uploaders by not watching their videos, but even with the appeal there are still many actors who re-upload them in cyberspace. The formulation of the problem in this thesis is about How Law No.28 of 2014 concerning Copyright regulates re-uploading of video content networked by social media and How is the responsibility of content creators who re-uploaders to the original owner of content networked by social media. This type of research is library research which then collects and studies data that comes from books, literature, scientific journals, legal documents related to the object of research. The results of this study explain that the perpetrator's responsibility to deactivate the account is as done by the perpetrator of a fatal re-upload as was done by the Malik Tube Youtube channel which uploaded all the contents of the Dalang Pelo channel. Because there were many negative comments and received a warning from Youtube, the content was finally deactivated permanently. The conclusion of this thesis is that regarding the responsibility of content creators who are proven to re-upload at this time only apologies to their personal social media, and delete the content from their accounts and even deactivate the account forever.

The I\O file system Read\Write operations are considered the most significant characteristics. Where, many researchers focus on their works on how to decrease the response time of I\O file system read\write operations. However, most articles concentrate on how to read\write content of the file in parallelism manner. Here in this paper, the author considers the parallelizing Read\Write whole file bytes not only its contents. A case study has been applied in order to make the idea more clear. It talks about two techniques of uploading\downloading files via Web Service. The first one is a traditional way where the files uploaded and downloaded serially. While the second one is uploaded\ downloaded files using Java thread in order to simulate parallelism technique. Java Netbeans 8.0.2 have been used as a programming environment to implement the Download\Upload files through Web Services. Validation results are also presented via using Mat-lab platform as benchmarks. The visualized figures of validation results are clearly clarifying that the second technique shows better response time in comparison to the traditional way.

Objective – To ascertain the coverage by discipline, publication date, publication language, and upload frequency of the scholarly articles found in Google Scholar. Design – Comparative content analyses. Setting – Electronic information resources accessible via the internet (both freely accessible and for-fee databases). Subjects – Forty-seven online databases and Google Scholar. Methods – The study compared the content of 47 databases (21 Internet resources freely available to the general public; 26 restricted-access databases) covering a variety of subjects with the content of Google Scholar. Each database was assigned to one of the following discipline categories: business, education, humanities, science and medicine, social science, and multidisciplinary. From April through July 2005, researchers generated random samples of 50 article titles from each of the 47 databases and searched the titles on Google Scholar to determine inclusion. Related studies were conducted for publication date and publication language analysis, and for the Google Scholar upload frequency study. For the publication date study, random samples from one database (PsycINFO) with a high degree of variability in Google Scholar coverage were searched for 1990, 2000, and 2004. For the publication language study, Google Scholar coverage of PsycINFO articles in English was compared to coverage of PsycINFO articles published in non-English languages. For the upload frequency study, two databases chosen for their high degree of coverage (BioMed Central and PubMed) were monitored to determine how often the new content was uploaded to Google Scholar. Main Results – This study revealed that content covered by Google Scholar varies greatly from database to database and from discipline to discipline. Of the 47 databases studied, coverage ranged from 6% to 100%. Mean and median values of coverage for all databases were both 60%. The mean discipline category scores varied from the humanities databases at 10% coverage, to the social sciences and education at 39% and 41% respectively, to science and medicine databases at 76% coverage. Mean coverage was 77% for the multidisciplinary databases. Mean coverage of open access journal databases was 95%, freely accessible databases had 84% mean coverage, and single publisher databases had 83% mean coverage. The publication language study found a bias towards English language publications. As well, a publication date bias was found – coverage of earlier dates was not as thorough as coverage of more recent publications. In the upload frequency study, for BioMed Central and PubMed there appears to be an approximately 15-week delay in the uploading of new material to Google Scholar. Conclusions – The results of this study serve to alert researchers and information professionals that Google Scholar (in beta test mode at the time of the study) has poor coverage in certain areas. To those with access to commercial databases, this serves as a cautionary tale. To those with a dearth of commercial databases, Google Scholar is a welcome site and can provide at least some information. The researchers state that the search engine itself could make future content studies unnecessary if it decides to make its content collection methodology transparent to users. Upload frequency, Google Scholar’s linking services, the advanced search option, and the “cited by” feature could all be subjects of future studies. For its first year in operation, Google Scholar offers a broad range of discipline coverage with substantial depth in some areas. At the time of the study, Google Scholar was working with libraries and vendors to connect search results to library-licensed full text.

Abstract Objectives The Houston Methodist Pathology training program encourages trainee participation in quality improvement (QI) projects for improving the didactics experience. One of these initiatives is RecutClub, a whole slide imaging (WSI) web-based platform for presenting surgical pathology unknown conference cases. With the evolving nature of pathology didactics in an ever-changing world where remote work plays an increasingly important role, several refinements were needed to ensure that the platform could continue to provide an unparalleled WSI experience for incoming trainees. Additionally, the burden of updating site content needed to be distributed from the site administrators to the end-users. Methods RecutClub is operated through Google Cloud via a Google App Engine instance. It connects to Google Cloud Databases to store persistent tabular data and Google Cloud Storage for pyramidal JPEG files used to display whole slide images in a web-browser. In the next generation platform (RecutClub 2.0), the largest change was to migrate case uploading from a developer-controlled solution to a decentralized, trainee-driven web portal. To ensure a superior user experience, the entire site as well as the upload form was migrated to Bootstrap 4. An AJAX-native, asynchronous uploader was built to interface the existing Google Cloud platform to a new upload portal that allows authorized trainees to build cases from scratch. Additionally, a tagging solution was implemented to allow for server-side persistent storage of trainee-selected cases, such as “interesting” cases or cases for further review. This tagging complements the existing region of interest (ROI) and case search functionalities. Results The deployment of RecutClub 2.0 involved multiple rounds of resident-led testing and feedback. Several regular testers offered ongoing user feedback and suggestions for visual layout and usability. The response from the general trainee population after deployment was overwhelming positive, with many trainees commenting on the “improved” visual aesthetics as well as the convenience of the upload functionality. Administrator involvement in case-upload time decreased from 2 hours/month to 0 hours/month due to enabling trainee-driven uploading. Conclusions The deployment of RecutClub 2.0 fulfilled the dual primary objectives of enabling straightforward trainee-led content updates, as well as decreasing administrator involvement in case-upload time. These and other changes ensure that RecutClub can continue to provide an unparalleled WSI experience for pathology trainees at Houston Methodist, while also providing fresh content in a landscape with several competing WSI platforms.

Naturalistic philosophers of meaning try to define the recalcitrant concept of reference in terms respected by the empirical science, such as causality or teleology. In this thesis, after a brief introduction to these trials is given, Fodors theory of content in terms of asymmetric dependence is examined in some depth. I claim that although this theory involves an important insight, it is an unsatisfactory attempt at reduction of the notion of reference. I develop a new theory of content, which does not have the defects of the analyses in terms of asymmetric dependence, and more successfully deals with notorious cases, such as pansemanticism and the possibility of misrepresentation.

The tremendous growth of Web has made information overload problem increasingly serious. Users are often confused by huge amount of information available on the internet and they are faced with the problem of finding the most relevant information that meets their needs. Recommender systems have proven to be an important solution approach to this problem. This thesis will present OPENMORE, a movie recommendation system, which is primarily based on content-based filtering technique. The distinctive point of this study lies in the methodology used to construct and update user and item profiles and the optimizations used to fine-tune the constructed user models. The proposed system arranges movie content data as features of a set of dimension slots, where each feature is assigned a stable feature weight regardless of individual movies. These feature weights and the explicit feedbacks provided by the user are then used to construct the user profile, which is fine-tuned through a set of optimization mechanisms. Users are enabled to view their profile, update them and create multiple contexts where they can provide negative and positive feedback for the movies on the feature level.

Content Management Systems (CMS) generally store data in a way that the content is distributed among several relational database tables or stored in files as a whole without any distinctive characteristics. These storage mechanisms cannot provide the management of semantic information about the data. They lack semantic retrieval, search and browsing of the stored content. To enhance non-semantic CMSes with advanced semantic features, the semantics within the CMS itself and additional semantic information related with the actual managed content should also be taken into account. However, extracting implicit knowledge from the legacy CMSes, lifting to a semantic content management system environment and providing semantic operations on the content is a challenging task which includes adoption of several latest advancements in information extraction (IE), information retrieval (IR) and Semantic Web areas. In this study, we propose an integrative approach including automatic lifting of content from legacy systems, automatic annotation of data with the information retrieved from the Linked Open Data (LOD) cloud and several semantic operations on the content in terms of storage and search. We use a simple RDF path language to create custom, semantic indexes and filter annotations obtained from LOD cloud in a way that is eligible for specific use cases. Filtered annotations are materialized along with the actual content of document in dedicated indexes. This semantix indexing infrastructure allows semantically meaningful search facilities on top of it. We realize our approach in the scope of Apache Stanbol project, which is a subproject developed in the scope of IKS project, by focusing on document storage and retrival parts of it. We evaluate our approach in healthcare domain with different domain ontologies (SNOMED/CT, ART, RXNORM) in addition to DBpedia as parts of LOD cloud which are used annotate documents and content obtained from different health portals.

As the size of image databases increases in time, the need for content based image indexing and retrieval become important. Image classification is a key to content based image indexing. In this thesis supervised learning with feed forward back propagation artificial neural networks is used for image classification. Low level features derived from the images are used to classify the images to interpret the high level features that yield semantics. Features are derived using detail histogram correlations obtained by Wavelet Transform, directional edge information obtained by Fourier Transform and color histogram correlations. An image database consisting of 357 color images of various sizes is used for training and testing the structure. The database is indexed into seven classes that represent scenery contents which are not mutually exclusive. The ground truth data is formed in a supervised fashion to be used in training the neural network and testing the performance. The performance of the structure is tested using leave one out method and comparing the simulation outputs with the ground truth data. Success, mean square error and the class recall rates are used as the performance measures. The performances of the derived features are compared with the color and texture descriptors of MPEG-7 using the structure designed. The results show that the performance of the method is comparable and better. This method of classification for content based image indexing is a reliable and valid method for content based image indexing and retrieval, especially in scenery image indexing.

Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) systems represent images in the database by color, texture, and shape information. In this thesis, we concentrate on tex- ture features and introduce a new generic texture descriptor, namely, Statistical Analysis of Structural Information (SASI). Moreover, in order to increase the re- trieval rates of a CBIR system, we propose a new method that can also adapt an image retrieval system into a con¯
gurable one without changing the underlying feature extraction mechanism and the similarity function. SASI is based on statistics of clique autocorrelation coe±
cients, calculated over structuring windows. SASI de¯
nes a set of clique windows to extract and measure various structural properties of texture by using a spatial multi- resolution method. Experimental results, performed on various image databases, indicate that SASI is more successful then the Gabor Filter descriptors in cap- turing small granularities and discontinuities such as sharp corners and abrupt changes. Due to the °
exibility in designing the clique windows, SASI reaches higher average retrieval rates compared to Gabor Filter descriptors. However, the price of this performance is increased computational complexity. Since, retrieving of similar images of a given query image is a subjective task, it is desirable that retrieval mechanism should be con¯
gurable by the user. In the proposed method, basically, original feature space of a content-based retrieval system is nonlinearly transformed into a new space, where the distance between the feature vectors is adjusted by learning. The transformation is realized by Arti¯
cial Neural Network architecture. A cost function is de¯
ned for learning and optimized by simulated annealing method. Experiments are done on the texture image retrieval system, which use SASI and Gabor Filter features. The results indicate that con¯
gured image retrieval system is signi¯
cantly better than the original system.

The audio signals can provide rich semantic cues for analyzing multimedia content, so audio information has been recently used for content-based multimedia indexing and retrieval. Due to growing amount of audio data, demand for efficient retrieval techniques is increasing. In this thesis work, we propose a complete, scalable and extensible audio based content management and retrieval system for news broadcasts. The proposed system considers classification, segmentation, analysis and retrieval of an audio stream. In the sound classification and segmentation stage, a sound stream is segmented by classifying each sub segment into silence, pure speech, music, environmental sound, speech over music, and speech over environmental sound in multiple steps. Support Vector Machines and Hidden Markov Models are employed for classification and these models are trained by using different sets of MPEG-7 features. In the analysis and retrieval stage, two alternatives exist for users to query audio data. The first of these isolates user from main acoustic classes by providing semantic domain based fuzzy classes. The latter offers users to query audio by giving an audio sample in order to find out the similar segments or by requesting expressive summary of the content directly. Additionally, a series of tests was conducted on audio tracks of TRECVID news broadcasts to evaluate the performance of the proposed solution.

and reviewing the history and the various forms of the externalist theory, it is argued that the properties offered by externalist theories as mental properties have no causal influence on behavior, and therefore cannot causally explain it. The argument is largely based on a method of comparing the causal powers of entities which are identical in all respects except their mental properties (as construed by externalism), and the conclusions are supported by metaphysical reflections on causation, dispositions, relational properties and historical properties. Objections to the defended view are considered and refuted. The thesis is written in the style of modern analytic philosophy.

This book assesses the nature and broader significance of warfare in the mountains of classical Greece. Based on detailed reconstructions of four unconventional military encounters, the book argues that the upland Greeks of the classical mainland developed defensive strategies to guard against external aggression. These strategies enabled wide-scale, sophisticated actions in response to invasions, but they did not require the direction of a central, federal government. The book brings these strategies to the forefront by driving ancient Greek military history and ancient Greek scholarship “beyond the polis” into dialogue with each other. As it contends, beyond-the-polis scholarship has done much to expand and refine our understanding of the ancient Greek world, but it has overemphasized the importance of political institutions in emergent federal states and has yet to treat warfare involving upland Greeks systematically or in depth. In contrast, the book scrutinizes the sociopolitical roots of warfare from beyond the polis, which are often neglected in military histories of the Greek city-state. By focusing on the significance of warfare vis-à-vis the sociopolitical development of upland polities, the book shows that although the more powerful states of the classical Greek world were dismissive or ignorant of the military capabilities of upland Greeks, the reverse was not the case. The Phocians, Aetolians, Acarnanians, and Arcadians in circa 490–362 BCE were well aware of the arrogant attitudes of their aggressive neighbors, and as highly efficient political entities, they exploited these attitudes to great effect.

This chapter examines the contexts and discourse surrounding the seven lynchings that occurred in Michigan in the latter decades of the nineteenth century. The relative infrequency of lynching in Michigan was due to the Wolverine State's somewhat earlier white settlement in the 1820s and 1830s, slightly before a prolonged culture conflict between “rough justice” and “due process” sentiments flared across extensive parts of the Midwest, West, and South. The comparative paucity of collective killing in Michigan also stemmed from its preponderance of Yankee settlers, and from its smaller proportion of emigrants from the Upland South. Sporadic lynchings in Michigan drew meaning from varied contexts that included the highly racialized discourse that accompanied the social and political alterations of the Civil War and Reconstruction.

A History of the Ozarks, Vol. I: The Old Ozarks is the first book-length account of life in the Ozark region of Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma in the era before the Civil War. Placing the region’s story within the context of North American and United States history, The Old Ozarks follows the human story in the Middle American highlands from prehistoric times until the eve of the Civil War. Along the way it chronicles the rise and fall of the powerful Osages, the settlement of the French in the Mississippi Valley and the flood of Anglo-Americans on the frontier, the resettlement of immigrant Indians from the East, and the development of antebellum society in the diverse terrain of the Ozark uplift. Above all The Old Ozarks follows a narrative approach that focuses on the people whose activities and ambitions brought life to the region, from the Shawnee Quatawapea to Moses Austin, and in turn brings life to many long-forgotten individuals and the lifeways that they brought with them from Tennessee, Kentucky, and other parts of the Upland South. The storyline that flows throughout The Old Ozarks underscores not a region of isolated backwoodsmen but a regional variation of the American story.

AbstractOne concern of Open Educational Resources (OER) is to establish infrastructures, such as repositories, where learning materials can be uploaded and exchanged. Various initiatives all over the world are currently investigating technical developments for finding and sharing OER in higher education. In this context, the consolidation of individual solutions in a distributed infrastructure must be considered. When creating and editing content, modifications and adjustments can result in new versions of a resource and further developments of other users can lead to derivatives. Managing versions in terms of tracking changes and learning about new versions available is not only an issue for OER repository development, but also for interaction and discoverability in a distributed infrastructure. Therefore, version management can be considered as an approach to potentially improve the reuse and revision OER. This contribution discusses use cases of OER in the context of version management and presents approaches to managing educational material in a distributed infrastructure resulting in a concept of version management for OER.

AbstractThe human rights regime—as law, institutions and practice—has been facing criticism for decades regarding its effectiveness, particularly in terms of unsatisfactory overall implementation and the failure to protect the most vulnerable who do not enjoy the protection of their States: refugees. Turkey is the country hosting the largest refugee population, with around four million at the end of May 2020 (https://www.unhcr.org/tr/wp-content/uploads/sites/14/2020/06/UNHCR-Turkey-Operational-Update-May-2020.pdf). As an administratively centralised country, Turkey’s migration policy is implemented by central government agencies, but this has not proved sufficient to guarantee the human rights of refugees on the ground. Meanwhile, in connection with urbanisation, decentralisation and globalisation, local governments around the world are receiving increasing attention from migration studies, political science, law, sociology and anthropology. In human rights scholarship, the localisation of human rights and the potential role of local governments have been presented as ways to counter the shortcomings in the effectiveness of the human rights regime and discourse. While local governments may have much untapped potential, a thorough analysis of the inequalities between local governments in terms of access to resources and opportunities is essential. The Turkish local governments which form the basis of this research, operate in a context of legal ambiguity concerning their competences and obligations in the area of migration. They also have to deal with large differences when it comes to resources and workload. In practice, therefore, there is extreme divergence amongst municipalities in the extent to which they engage with refugee policies. This chapter seeks to answer the question why and how certain local governments in Turkey come to proactively engage in policy-making that improves the realisation of refugees’ rights. Exploratory grounded field research among Turkish local governments reveals four main factors that enable and facilitate the engagement of local governments in refugee policies: (1) the capacity of and institutionalisation in local governments; (2) the dissemination of practices and norms surrounding good local migration and rights-based governance through networks; (3) the availability of cooperation and coordination with other actors in the field, and (4) political will. Collectively, these factors illustrate how a new norm—the norm that local governments can and ought to engage in policy-making improving the rights of refugees—is cross-pollinating and taking root among Turkish local governments. This understanding will provide valuable insights into how norms are developed, travel and are institutionalised within social and institutional networks, and how differences in access, capacity, political and cooperative opportunities may facilitate and obscure the path to policies improving human rights on the ground.

AbstractThe rapid disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in multiple sectors and areas of daily life provide a unique opportunity to study the university’s capacity to respond to changes in the external environment, to be a learning organization, in service of addressing significant social challenges. In this book we study universities’ responses to one such challenge: the disruption to educational opportunities caused by the interruption of schooling brought about by the pandemic. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, universities innovated on several fronts. Unsurprisingly, some of those innovations focused on internal actions implemented to mitigate the impact of the pandemic by transitioning to online teaching delivery or extension of semester break, etc. (Crawford J et al. J Appl Learning Teaching 3.1:1–20, 2020; Leon-Garcia F, Cherbowski-Lask A, Leadership responses to COVID 19: a global survey of college and university leadership. International Association of Universities – Santander Universities. IAUP. https://www.iaup.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/IAUP-Santander_Survey_to_COVID-19_Report2020.pdf, 2020). Beyond the solutions to mitigate the pandemic’s impact on their communities of students, faculty, or staff, universities also innovated to mitigate such impact on the larger community. While the contributions of universities to alleviate the pandemic’s impact have been most visible in public health (Daniels, R. J. 2020. Universities’ Vital Role in the Pandemic Response. Hopkins Bloomberg Public Health Magazine. https://magazine.jhsph.edu/2020/universities-vital-role-pandemic-response), they have extended to other areas of relief and support as well. Almost half of universities participating in a global survey conducted by the International Association of Universities indicated that due to the pandemic, their community engagement had increased (Marinoni G et al. The impact of Covid-19 on higher education around the world. IAU global survey report. International Association of Universities, Paris. https://www.iau-aiu.net/IMG/pdf/iau_covid19_and_he_survey_report_final_may_2020.pdf, 2020).This book is a study of one such response of universities to the pandemic which has not yet received sufficient attention: their support of schools at the pre-collegiate level through a variety of innovative approaches to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on opportunity to learn. In this chapter, we argue that studying such innovations provides insight into the responsiveness of universities to complex societal needs and into their capacity to operate as learning organizations open to their external environment. We introduce the study, explain its value in understanding the role and nature of higher education’s outreach, social impact, and capacity to deal with complex challenges, and summarize the chapters of the book and the results of a survey which was administered to over one-hundred universities to study the nature of their collaborations with schools during the first 9 months of the pandemic, between March and December of 2020.

This article reports the concept of digital library (DL) with its definitions, concept, generic architecture, ethics and librarianship related to DL. DLs are created by Library professionals, publishers, Government initiatives, societies and other higher educational institutions. There are different types of files and file formats are created and stored on DL. For uploading the files, the copyright / IPR issues are involved. As one cannot upload directly someone's file without the permission of that person. In information communication technology (ICT) environment, the Internet and web enables everyone to have access to the e-contents available from anywhere at any time. Due to this, DL creators cannot take it granted to upload them and make them available online. The IPR issues in digital environment plays a key role for identifying and taking permissions from the respective authors / publishers / content creators to upload the digital content. DL and IPR issues are discussed with the digital rights issues.

Korean megachurches use digital media to distribute religious content across transnational boundaries. Megachurches upload sermons, livestream worship services and publicise events on websites, mobile apps and social media platforms. Studying the reception side reveals a fuller picture of how religious content circulates and how it is interpreted, curated and used. This chapter provides insights into how Korean- American Christian women in the U.S. incorporate religious digital media produced in South Korea into their everyday lives. The study finds that Korean-American women 1) gather knowledge of popular pastors and develop expertise on their preaching styles, 2) diagnose their own spiritual needs as well as those of others, and access religious digital media content in order to address these needs, and 3) use online religious content to curate daily routines that adhere to their conceptions of a faithful life. The women exercise a form of spiritual authority as curates of digital media content.

1994 the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber has started to build an interactive portal on the internet (wko.at). This portal is at the moment one of the greatest information and know-how platforms in Europe and a combination betweer eGovernment and eBusiness. More than 370.000 companies have access to an extranet which includes more than 700.000 pages online. More than 1.000 organisations within the Chamber Network and their employees have access to an intranet and upload daily their information worldwide. Around 12.000.000 visitors per month download information in the field of law, business news, statistics and other content like WebTV, or use an eMarketplace. On the international side wko.at has business information about austrian products in 19 languages online. Online legislative projects as well as administrative procedures and other interactive possibilities are also implemented. The content of WKO.at also appears in many other Austrian ePlattforms. Therefore wko.at is a best practice example of eAustria in eEurope.

What is Moodle? The heart of Moodle is courses that contain activities and resources. There are many different types of activities available (forums, glossaries, wikis, assignments, quizzes, choices (polls), scorm players, databases etc). Each activities can be customised quite a lot. The activities I think might be handy when using Moodle in a Primary school is: glossaries (create glossaries of definitions and display them in a block within a course), links (collect links to other sites), web pages (upload class or embed YouTube videos and embed in Moodle web pages), game module, forums, 'Parent' role - give logins to parents using the Parent role to show what students have been doing in class, lightbox galleries (upload class photos) of excursions and projects, notes, calendaring (add in events for, which can be shown on the Moodle homepage) etc. Even with baby steps, Moodle entered into primary and pre-primary education. In fact, most of the activities used at secondary or tertiary level can be used in (at least upper) primary education, although the content may be not so sophisticated. The requirements are very simple. Into a lesson, you cannot move to the next step without a correct answer, but the possibilities are endless. Even though the demanding level is very low, the pupils can easily understand what is all about. Still, these opportunities are not used in most primary school in Romania. The Moodle Romanian community appreciate any examples, ideas for using Moodle in the primary school environment. We meet few elementary school teachers with a couple of ideas in Moodle Moot 2014, Cluj Napoca.

Authors: Ion Razvan Radulescu, Zoran Stjepanovic, Petra Dufkova, Luis Almeida, Dorin Dan Abstract: E-learning instruments in the textile field are of great relevance: textile technologies are in a continuously modernization process and their knowledge aims to promote the development of the companies. The specialists in textiles, the high school students and the young entrepreneurs are able to implement the updated knowledge by being involved in a Vocational Education and Training (VET) process. Hence, key research providers in textiles have joined with the purpose of providing modern knowledge for the world of work. These objectives have been met within the Erasmus Plus - Advan2Tex project "E-learning course for the specialists in the textile field" (2014-2016). The e-learning course envisaged is based on an e-learning platform containing 7 modules in the field of innovative textiles: "Advanced Knitting Technologies", "Virtual prototyping of garments, 3D scanning, clothing for people with special needs", "New method for testing textile materials", "Standardization of textile testing" and "New sustainable textile technologies, LCA, Eco-labelling", "Entrepreneurship" and "Innovation management". Five European research providers have joined within the project's partnership and have elaborated the 7 modules in all the national languages as well as in English. The represented countries are: Czech Republic (TZU), Portugal (University Minho), Romania (INCDTP and UT Iasi) and Slovenia (University Maribor). These 7 modules in 5 languages have been uploaded as book resources on a Moodle e-learning platform. The content was divided in chapters and subchapters, while the images and pictures have been uploaded separately. Each module is followed by a set of multiple choice questions. The multiple choice tests have been transformed in GIFT format for a centralized upload. An online conference room has been configured for questions and answers between tutors and trainees. Nevertheless, synchronous (chat) and asynchronous (forum) communication instruments have been also implemented on the platform. The trainees have been organized in cohorts , which were assigned to the courses categories on the project's languages. The configured and implemented platform is available at the URL address: www.advan2tex.eu/portal/ .

In June of 2014 over 1700 entries were submitted to a competition for a proposed Guggenheim Museum in the Finnish capital of Helsinki. Winners had no guarantee that the project would be built, yet architects from around the world spent huge amounts of capital and time to produce what was described by the director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation as “an unprecedented volume of design information that is now freely available for study and use”. Just like that the intellectual capital of nearly two thousand architects was distributed essentially free of charge to the public. This represented a massive upload of the architectural intentions and pre-occupations of a generation of architects that was not used or evaluated in any way other than to promote the competition itself. This paper focuses on the development of a design process that makes use of large repositories of previously designed projects as the content for a new kind of design workflow. The leveraging of computational techniques and large data rich territories is described and its preliminary outputs presented.

The use of games in education necessitates investigations on how to successfully transpose learning objectives and evaluation metrics into game settings, how to effectively assess player performance in the game, and also on how to overcome technical issues associated with the integration of Digital Educational Games (DEG) and Learning Management Systems (LMS). According to Bloom's taxonomy, revised by Anderson in 2001, which is used to develop learning objectives, there are six categories in the cognitive process dimension that should be considered: remember, understand, apply, analyse, evaluate and create. To construct DEGs that assess player's performance in connection with these categories constitute a challenge. Digital games are in essence complex artefacts, whose design and development require extensive efforts both from pedagogical and technical points of view. While methods common to an assessment content are core to many DEGs (rewards, levels, leader boards), creating game assessment mechanisms that are motivating and even disruptive from traditional evaluation methods, and yet can be integrated into formal evaluation processes is still subject to research. This paper examines the design and development of assessment mechanisms for a language learning game, with the purpose of identifying how various assessment mechanisms can be applied in game contexts. The authors also discuss technical issues associated with interconnecting games and LMSs, exploring the possibility to automatically upload assessment criteria into the game and integrate game assessment reports into the LMS. This approach targets to implement a new level of flexibility in game development processes, enabling tutors to customize the assessment mechanisms within the game.

Amongst those to have employed this strategy are supporters of the so-called Islamic State (IS). Yet, while studies have repeatedly highlighted the key role that file-sharing platforms play in the dissemination of IS propaganda, there has been little investigation of the strategic considerations that may influence the choice of file-sharing sites from the many available. To address this, this report uses data gathered from 13 public IS Telegram channels over a 45-day period in July - September 2021 to assess three possible strategic considerations: the features offered by different file-sharing sites (such as data storage capacity, maximum upload size, and password file protection); a platform’s enforcement activity; and the ability to generate large banks of URLs quickly and conveniently. Based on these findings, the report proposes a four-pronged strategy to combat the exploitation of file-sharing sites by supporters of IS and other terrorist groups: remove terrorist content at the point of upload; impede the automated generation and dissemination of banks of URLs; disrupt the posting of these URLs on other platforms; and redirect users to other content and support services.

Households that hire domestic workers are a space of compulsive encounters where people of different origins and social class meet, experiencing physical proximity that makes the social distance that prevails between them even more noticeable. Drawing on current research and scholarship on paid domestic work in Latin America, this paper explores the different ways of analysing the encounters of women from highly unequal social positions in the narrowness of the private household, arguing that the combination of physical proximity and affective ties fosters the (re)production of social inequalities and asymmetries of power. But while it is within the convivial relations of these households that inequality becomes evident, it is also there where it can be negotiated, fought, or mitigated. Households that hire domestic workers are thus a privileged site for observing negotiations and disputes concerning social inequalities, and hence, a critical context to study the reciprocal constitution of conviviality and inequality.

The Northern Great Plains Inventory and Monitoring Network (NGPN) began stream channel monitoring in Highland Creek at Wind Cave National Park (WICA) in 2021. This data report summarizes the data collected during the 2021 season pertaining to watershed, reach, and physical habitat. After data are collected for at least four cycles, trends may be reported. This report covers three main areas: 1) Reporting on upland channel characteristics data that may affect habitat such as: land cover, drainage area, and total stream length; 2) Reporting of geomorphic dimensions such as: channel widths, bank angles, vegetative cover, reach slope, measures of bank stability; and 3) Determining physical habitat characteristics such as: size and distribution of bed sediment, large woody debris, and canopy cover. Indices, benchmarks, and other studies are provided in the table for informational purposes to help put Highland Creek’s measurements in context but should not be considered as a reference condition. Upland characteristics of the watershed indicate high natural land use cover (forest, grassland, and shrubland) with little development in the area. Reach characteristics include bank cover, heights, bank stability index, and vegetative cover. In addition to animal-induced erosion of the banks, bank sloughing and widening are occurring. Angles are steep, and there are some sandy banks that are unstable. When plots are revisited in three years, there will be greater understanding of the processes at play and the condition of the stream. Physical characteristics include median particle size, percentage fine substrate, geomorphic units, and canopy cover. Gravel substrate still covers much of the stream; there are wide meanders in the stream bed; and a variety of geomorphic channel units (pool, riffle, run) occur in the creek all of which are indicators of healthy habitat. While there is an absence of large woody debris and canopy cover is low, many grassland streams in good condition can have similar characteristics. More data are needed to fully assess those components and determine a suitable reference condition that can be used to later assess the status and trends of Highland Creek. The reach data contained in this report are specific to a short 150-m segment of Highland Creek and cannot be extrapolated to conditions elsewhere in the creek or to the park in general. Bank erosion and bank instability were observed along the majority of transects at site WICA SCM 001.

Overview Skin cancer prevention is a component of the new Cancer Plan 2022–27, which guides the work of the Cancer Institute NSW. To lessen the impact of skin cancer on the community, the Cancer Institute NSW works closely with the NSW Skin Cancer Prevention Advisory Committee, comprising governmental and non-governmental organisation representatives, to develop and implement the NSW Skin Cancer Prevention Strategy. Primary Health Networks and primary care providers are seen as important stakeholders in this work. To guide improvements in skin cancer prevention and inform the development of the next NSW Skin Cancer Prevention Strategy, an up-to-date review of the evidence on the effectiveness and feasibility of skin cancer prevention activities in primary care is required. A research team led by the Daffodil Centre, a joint venture between the University of Sydney and Cancer Council NSW, was contracted to undertake an Evidence Check review to address the questions below. Evidence Check questions This Evidence Check aimed to address the following questions: Question 1: What skin cancer primary prevention activities can be effectively administered in primary care settings? As part of this, identify the key components of such messages, strategies, programs or initiatives that have been effectively implemented and their feasibility in the NSW/Australian context. Question 2: What are the main barriers and enablers for primary care providers in delivering skin cancer primary prevention activities within their setting? Summary of methods The research team conducted a detailed analysis of the published and grey literature, based on a comprehensive search. We developed the search strategy in consultation with a medical librarian at the University of Sydney and the Cancer Institute NSW team, and implemented it across the databases Embase, MEDLINE, PsycInfo, Scopus, Cochrane Central and CINAHL. Results were exported and uploaded to Covidence for screening and further selection. The search strategy was designed according to the SPIDER tool for Qualitative and Mixed-Methods Evidence Synthesis, which is a systematic strategy for searching qualitative and mixed-methods research studies. The SPIDER tool facilitates rigour in research by defining key elements of non-quantitative research questions. We included peer-reviewed and grey literature that included skin cancer primary prevention strategies/ interventions/ techniques/ programs within primary care settings, e.g. involving general practitioners and primary care nurses. The literature was limited to publications since 2014, and for studies or programs conducted in Australia, the UK, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, Western Europe and Scandinavia. We also included relevant systematic reviews and evidence syntheses based on a range of international evidence where also relevant to the Australian context. To address Question 1, about the effectiveness of skin cancer prevention activities in primary care settings, we summarised findings from the Evidence Check according to different skin cancer prevention activities. To address Question 2, about the barriers and enablers of skin cancer prevention activities in primary care settings, we summarised findings according to the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR). The CFIR is a framework for identifying important implementation considerations for novel interventions in healthcare settings and provides a practical guide for systematically assessing potential barriers and facilitators in preparation for implementing a new activity or program. We assessed study quality using the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) levels of evidence. Key findings We identified 25 peer-reviewed journal articles that met the eligibility criteria and we included these in the Evidence Check. Eight of the studies were conducted in Australia, six in the UK, and the others elsewhere (mainly other European countries). In addition, the grey literature search identified four relevant guidelines, 12 education/training resources, two Cancer Care pathways, two position statements, three reports and five other resources that we included in the Evidence Check. Question 1 (related to effectiveness) We categorised the studies into different types of skin cancer prevention activities: behavioural counselling (n=3); risk assessment and delivering risk-tailored information (n=10); new technologies for early detection and accompanying prevention advice (n=4); and education and training programs for general practitioners (GPs) and primary care nurses regarding skin cancer prevention (n=3). There was good evidence that behavioural counselling interventions can result in a small improvement in sun protection behaviours among adults with fair skin types (defined as ivory or pale skin, light hair and eye colour, freckles, or those who sunburn easily), which would include the majority of Australians. It was found that clinicians play an important role in counselling patients about sun-protective behaviours, and recommended tailoring messages to the age and demographics of target groups (e.g. high-risk groups) to have maximal influence on behaviours. Several web-based melanoma risk prediction tools are now available in Australia, mainly designed for health professionals to identify patients’ risk of a new or subsequent primary melanoma and guide discussions with patients about primary prevention and early detection. Intervention studies have demonstrated that use of these melanoma risk prediction tools is feasible and acceptable to participants in primary care settings, and there is some evidence, including from Australian studies, that using these risk prediction tools to tailor primary prevention and early detection messages can improve sun-related behaviours. Some studies examined novel technologies, such as apps, to support early detection through skin examinations, including a very limited focus on the provision of preventive advice. These novel technologies are still largely in the research domain rather than recommended for routine use but provide a potential future opportunity to incorporate more primary prevention tailored advice. There are a number of online short courses available for primary healthcare professionals specifically focusing on skin cancer prevention. Most education and training programs for GPs and primary care nurses in the field of skin cancer focus on treatment and early detection, though some programs have specifically incorporated primary prevention education and training. A notable example is the Dermoscopy for Victorian General Practice Program, in which 93% of participating GPs reported that they had increased preventive information provided to high-risk patients and during skin examinations. Question 2 (related to barriers and enablers) Key enablers of performing skin cancer prevention activities in primary care settings included: • Easy access and availability of guidelines and point-of-care tools and resources • A fit with existing workflows and systems, so there is minimal disruption to flow of care • Easy-to-understand patient information • Using the waiting room for collection of risk assessment information on an electronic device such as an iPad/tablet where possible • Pairing with early detection activities • Sharing of successful programs across jurisdictions. Key barriers to performing skin cancer prevention activities in primary care settings included: • Unclear requirements and lack of confidence (self-efficacy) about prevention counselling • Limited availability of GP services especially in regional and remote areas • Competing demands, low priority, lack of time • Lack of incentives.
